Test your stuff with exotics first. If it’s working for you then make the step to ascended version. But a condi warrior I am not too sure; never tried one out.
Look at your weapon skills both dmg-wise and then see if they proc any condis. Use sigil a that complement those procs to enhance it more. If you want precision then grab sigil that actually proc condi like torment as warrior off-hand sword does torment too.
As others have stated try celestial too. Apparently that works as an all rounder ‘bit of everything’ gear.
My warrior friend got wrecked by a hybrid condi warri so it must be decent.
I’ve been very bored lately and decided to make a warrior tank/regen build focused on running head on into a Zerg and soaking up a lot of CCs… Although I acknowledge I am literally doing barely any dmg I found I could rez others whilst taking a lot of hits etc and it also helped encourage the rest of a Zerg to ‘push’ with you because you’re eating many CCs that would otherwise make others feel discouraged/retreat.
I have tested this build using only Exotics and it’s fun at times but I’d like to know – has anyone done full ascended Nomads with infusions? (Exlcuding trinkets) and give me your thoughts on it or how you utilized it to be effective.
I do like to min/max things when it comes to builds.
Feel free to discuss this topic in regards to Nomads gear otherwise let me know what builds can make the most use out of Nomads.
It’s a title.
X amount of kills grants the title.
People want this title so they found an easy way to get it. This easy way, from my point of view, is legit.
At the end of the day it’s just a title and what seems like a very minute amount of APs for such an immense amount of kills which can be hastened by participating in this ‘easier’ method of obtaining kills.
Engineer is being quite good with exploring. Perma swiftness + snares to keep chasing mobs at bay + rocket boots to jump long distances + rifle 5 is a jump skill that makes small platform jumping a breeze + 5 seconds stealth…
This.
Did map completion on my engi and had a blast with per a swiftness. Definitely recommend!
I have a Razer Naga mouse and prior to that the Deathadder. Been using the DA for couple years; massive gamer.. Many hour spent playing and it’s totally fine. Same with the Naga. Works like a charm.
If clicking through stacks or purchasing things that only sell 1 at a time then I suggest you key bind your mouse wheel to equal a left click. You won’t be able to zoom out or in during the time you’re using it but temporarily it helps immensely with blasting through stacks of things to open or buying stuff/selling junk at merchants and will put less pressure on your fingers and mouse buttons.
I haven’t tried anything serious Zerg-wise with thief. I consider myself below average at the profession despite it being one of my favorites.. I’ve had experience playing S/D and condi thief builds.
I prefer S/D as it’s easy, the distance coverage and catching up/evades/bouncing around is very fun. I use metabattle but have made my own variation as I prefer S/D with D/D.
Then there’s the condi thief build if you feel like making someone’s day extremely miserable.. It has it’s ups and downs. It all depends on the situation too. I have good days and bads when playing condi.. If you see a necro just run away because you won’t stand a chance using condi on them. Sigh.
I heard d/p is apparently the easiest but I have never tried plus I fail at landing the heartseeker/black powder combo. Oh well.
I am currently levelling an alt thief that will be a medic thief build as my friend keeps joking about it and I like to theorycraft; making my own builds etc.
When in doubt just go look up metabattle. Sorry for any spelling mistakes as I’m on my phone atm haha.
Aussie here, currently on FA. We have oceanic guilds doing coverage so there are definitely other Aussies on. I believe my old guild [RP] x-ferred to FA and they are oceanic based and currently active too. You will find others around, don’t worry!
Condi thief.
Spam pistol #2 = immob. Vomit all your condis on them. Works with warriors too. Kite kite kite. Guard/Warri usually try and run away or dead. It’s fun.
Ultimate nike-warri mobility: Greatsword + Sword/Warhorn
In wvw you’ll mostly be with a zerg if you wanna do that you don’t need as much mobility; I recommend Hammer instead as it’s good CC’s against enemy.
I don’t pvp much but just look up metabattle and find a build that suits you there for various things.
At the end of the day it’s fun to theorycraft and make your own builds. I’ve made a warri build that focuses on immobs when I’m roaming with friends and it’s hilarious.
Sooo… anyone else think this new Taunt will be massively hard CC to things like thieves.. rangers if you’re a warrior with shield?
You know.. that trait which reflects projectiles when you block… warri uses taunt on a ranger… proceeds to use block… imagine a zerker ranger. Oh man.
And then thieves if they’re low HP… just use taunt… YOU CANNOT ESCAPE! This thing better have a stun-breaker to get out of it. Haha.
I am laughing more than I should right now.
If they implemented this.. I would like to request a feature to nullify the sound of it happening as I have a few friends that constantly log in/out throughout the day and it’d be a bit annoying having to hear that sound go off..
If I could play one class and one class only it’d thief. Too much fun.
Runners up would be ranger due to easyness and then maybe engi because it’s a bit more challenging.
Just an update on my behalf:
Prior 2 days ago I’ve had little to no lag at all. Hope it stays like that; or better. The lag does flutter a bit, especially when an enemy zerg pops outta no where.
Yeah I’m really digging the lava tail too! I’m surprised and very happy this outfit actually has zero problems with Charr; everything looks good and fits nicely.
I can’t really be bothered with titles in GW2
Titles don’t feel as exclusive or awesome as gw1 (maybe because gw1 titles were a lot harder to get).
Ah yes, I suppose that makes a difference.
I did buy GW1 but when I made an account and started to play.. it felt like a ghost-town. Little to no players and if there were they must’ve been AFK or what not therefore I lost interest and haven’t touched it since.
But agreed; titles in the first game would feel better appreciated and earned.
Just some food for thought.
Many players choose to wear titles for various or any reasons, whether it be they feel genuinely entitled to it, prestige, silly purposes or they generally enjoy that specific title.
So here’s some questions regarding players and their titles:
- What is your favorite UNLOCKED title you don in this game (optional: why)?
- If you could choose to wear ANY title what would it be?
- Pick a title you genuinely respect when you see a player with it and give a reason why this title reflects a positive feeling.
- Pick a title you dislike seeing on a player and provide a reason why this title impacts you negatively.
- Make up ONE title you would like to see implemented into the game and provide a brief description/objective on how to obtain it or why you would like to see it as a new title to obtain.
Feel free to discuss this topic and/or share your ideas/interests in regards to titles. have fun!
Here’s an example:
- Favorite unlocked title: Twice-Told Legend
- If I could have any title I would don Yakslapper as it gives me a laugh
- When I see the title Loyal I know that player has been around for a while and still enjoys playing the game
- I dislike seeing the title The Be-All and the End-All as it’s a mouthful and it’s too common
- If I could make up a title I would dedicate it to dyes. Unlocking an X amount of dyes/all current dyes would yield the title of To Dye For or possibly Dye Hard. Something humorous!
From personal experience, rarely/never used weapons:
- Warrior: Mace, Axe
- Guardian: Mace, Torch
- Engineer: Off-hand Pistol
- Ranger: Axe, Torch, Dagger
- Thief: ???
- Mesmer: Scepter, off-hand Sword
- Elementalist: (Don’t play this profession so idk) ???
- Necromancer: (Don’t play this profession so idk much) Off-hand Focus
Really depends on the build you’re running too. I usually stick to one build for a long time because it takes a while for me to know it inside-out therefore I don’t explore other weapons.
Although I have yet to actually run around with one of these minis I would like to voice my opinion by agreeing with many others stating in this thread that both these newly released minis are:
- Low res in appearance
- Moose lacks features as opposed to Red Panda in regards to fur sticking up/out
- Seem to be ripped straight out of a beta version, transformed into a mini without testing
If there is anything positive I have regarding these minis it’s probably the subtle animations they give off:
- Both ears flickering/moving about is cute
- Red Panda’s tail has a smooth animation
That’s about it. I feel this duo has the potential to be irresistibly adorable if only ANet had put more effort into the model textures/skins.
I have vastly slowed down on making big payments to ANet due to the Aussie dollar being unbearably horrible against the US atm. I haven’t found a place yet that sells the gift cards but if I do then I’m definitely gonna start using those instead.. Sheesh.
I helped a friend get an upgrade by exchanging gems to gold, mailing them the gold which they then proceeded to exchange that gold into gems to buy their upgrade.
This is the only known way to technically still gift ‘upgrades’ to friends I suppose.
I’m currently enjoying Staff/S+P. If I’m running with a zerg then I frequently switch out pistol for focus to help with swiftness uptime.
I’ve never really tried out mesmer competitively in wvw/eotm until just recently so I’m still figuring out what things function etc…
For PVE on my first mesmer I remember running GS/S+T as the traited torch skills are interesting, decent condi-cleanse and the GS is good for the KB and generally, the phantasm things that cripple or apparently.. ‘hit like a truck’ although I haven’t paid attention much or don’t remember it hitting that hard despite using primarily zerk/knight gear.
Just recently I did entire world completion on this other mesmer that I prefer playing using that wvw build (staff/S+P) and it was easy.
My thoughts on scepter though.. I hated it. Went to try it again and still hated it. I had a condi build set up too and it felt clunky and uhg. So each to their own.
I checked out the preview image from the data mined link too and I will admit that this (un-released?) apparel is one of the best, outstanding, wonderfully detailed outfits to date and as soon as it’s up in the gem store it’ll be an insta-buy from me.
I genuinely hope they proceed to make further god-related outfits.
I wouldn’t mind a plant-like one for Sylvari.. as much as I am intrigued by the shadow of the dragon head & shoulder pieces I was very put off by the in-ability to change the color of the green-ish glow emitting from it. Ah well.
- Naturally, when a game is released all the basic names will be taken by players.
- People start to get creative by adding middle names, last names or something of the likes.
- When those are taken people resort to using accents; whether it be intentionally or purely for the cosmetic appearance of a letter looking like the original. e.g; ‘a’ being the original yet ‘à’ is similar in appearance although technically may not sound the same when spoken.
The reasons above have led people, and even myself to start using accents or special alt code characters to have a particular name. I recommend the following website if you need to find alt code characters:
http://www.mvdmoosdijk.nl/Misc/Altcodes/Alt-codes_for_characters.htm
I’ve probably already posted in this (now merged?) thread but it’d be nice to see the return of item(s) that are currently not available.
Regarding the Bunny Ears; Easter is over here in AUS but generally around this time ANet does updates so MAYBE… just maybe they might sneak it in if they’re generous. I don’t see why not… with the vast amount of demands by players for this particular item ANet would make a lot of gem store sales. For reals. There is no downside to that. I don’t think I’d ever think of a toon I’d use these on but if they were deemed available again I’d buy it in an instant anyway.
Currently in EOTM and getting lag even when no zerg is present. Just random lag spikes.
this.
This.
THIS.
Oh my god it’s been going on for what, near over a month now. That’s why I haven’t been in these wvw maps much because of this ridiculous lag. Lag anywhere, everywhere, anytime, whenever. And of course, naturally, it will spike more often when you’re just about to engage/disengage from a fight/zerg or smack bam in the middle of it.
There is no escape.
Doesn’t matter where you are. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing. The lag will find you.
All I wanna do is test out some new builds and have a bit of fun but every time I set foot in there it’s a lost cause. Sigh.
i am using omnomberry pie on all of my thief builds, be it 60206 d/p or 20066 s/d
gives you ~330 health or so on a crit with 66% (60%?) chance on a 1s cd
as well as some precisionbtw does someone know whether the food mentioned above does add up with vigor? (i mean the 40% endurance regen)
I may have to try that out sometime.
UPDATE: I’m back on my PC and I can confirm that the food I use (Bowl of Orrian Truffle and Meat Stew: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Orrian_Truffle_and_Meat_Stew) does indeed stack with the vigor uptime trait when you use a heal skill and the endurance regen is NICE! Well, At least I noticed a considerable increase in the regen testing regular rodge rolls and then healing + dodge rolls.
I’m on my phone atm, I would post links of the food if I weren’t but I can tell you their effects:
Using the meta-battle S/D build:
Food: 100% chance to gain might on dodge + 40% endurance regen.
Literally.. Might and dodges for dayzzzzzzz~
Utility Food: sharpening stone that gives 6% of toughness into power and 4% of vitality into power.
Because the S/D meta build incorporates might on dodge, with swiftness on dodge along with strength runes I found this type of food to be extremely useful. Also, the trait that grants 100% endurance regen for a while whenever you use a heal skill (roll backwards ~15 sec CD?) is immensely helpful with the food buff to endurance regen.
Hope this helps.
Australia here too; on my phone atm so I’ll make this brief:
Been experiencing for the past 1-2 MONTHS some of the most irritating, disappointing lag and random disconnects and in most competitive places (WvW, Pvp, EOTM) those areas are basically un-playable
Foremost, it is not my own internet. I can play YouTube, run other games, even online ones and they are totally fine.. Meanwhile GW2 is just a choppy lag-fest and is debating whether or not it wants to completely disconnect or lag out, especially when it comes to running in zergs or just a small group.
With the new ping feature I kept an eye on it the past 3 days and I am content with my own displaying, most of the time, a normal 250-280 ping but these past few days it jumps. A lot. 20 seconds it’ll linger normally then lag and boom – a Ping of 3,262 comes out of no where.
Prior a month and a but a go I rarely experienced this sort of stuff.
My modem is fine. My internet is fine. My internet service provider is fine.
By the end of the round it usually ends up like this… bad for ALL sides (no gain in anything)
But still, it’s EOTM. Not serious WvW.
Sorry but this is a rather meh suggestion and sounds more like a “I’m gonna look this person up to see if they’re wearing zerk twerk for this dungeon blah blah”. I’ve neither set foot in WoW only once for the 1 month thing agessss ago but this sounds very similar to AQWorlds where you can view everything a player has/equipped etc.. ehhh.
Just curious but it seems to me that every NPC is just standard model height (slider hasn’t been moved).
NPCs for example: Marjory, Trahearne, Rytlock Brimstone, Mai Trin, Teyo etc.
Are there any NPCs out there that aren’t just the standard model height for their race? It’s a bit hard to tell with Norns & Charr though tbh.
This is more than likely the wrong forum thread for this and I advise as well to post it in:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor
Either way, sign me up. I’ve literally spent a good 3 days in SW and either Foothold takes forever because no one is doing the events or I can’t find a decent chest farm, that or I had 4 VW fails in a row oh man..
Thank goodness I bought all my dyes when they were relatively cheap. For some reason now they’ve skyrocketed… especially that ridiculous Glint one that looks a bit pale yellow.. last time I checked it was 300g+. Far out.
Unless you can defend yourself in Sinister I still see it as a quick death sentence if you get caught. Really, it depends what you’re doing and who you encounter but I’m afraid Sinister still only seems viable if you’re with other people/back-line nading things. You gotta know what you’re doing in such squishy gear; I salute anyone that handles themselves well in it but jeeze.. no toughness etc.. ehh.
Make a huge male Charr Thief that looks similar to Tai Lung from Kung FOOOO Panda.
EDIT: Censored word for whatever reason.
- I don’t care what price this would be if it were real.
- I don’t care how short/long it’s in the gem store for if it were real.
- I would buy this instantly if it were real.
I have many alts and constantly having to use trans charges is quite annoying. This item would be great for those who chew up a lot of trans charges.
Ehh, Braham really doesn’t fit or click in my head. His appearance.. everything is off to me. He’s merely that guy with you who hits stuff along the way.
Taimi is pretty interesting but I can’t help but ponder whether ANet is pushing the whole typical ‘brainy young super genius kid’ theme with her. I do, however, wish to know how she’s going with her experiment with the ley line things. Heck, I may have to revisit LSS2 and replay all those episodes to refresh my memory again.
Kasmeer. I honestly don’t even care about this chick therefore I don’t know much. Once again I’ll have to go through LSS2 again.
Marjory. She was definitely interesting at first and I love her voice; it fits her character & theme very well. I’ve always enjoyed anything detective-related anyway so her backstory & cases involved with the LSS2 was always interesting to read… however, there was one really stupid awkward moment when Caithe ran off with the egg. We all saw it. We all knew it.. so why after the cutscene does Jory even bother stating; “I saw Caithe run off with the egg.” Blah. Little things like that kill the moment sometimes.
Rox. Whoever stated she deserves the world Guinness award for biggest anime eyes to date wins my vote. That alone is so disturbing to glance at it almost makes me cringe everytime I was in an episode with her. Sure, there are some funny moments where she’s stated a few odd lines; particularly that one in Scarlet’s old house comparing that plant on the table to her hair-do but still Rox feels like she could use more work, somehow.
Caithe is someone I’ve always been intrigued with and pains me in a way that I honestly cannot decide, and I’m sure I’m not alone here, whether she is good, evil or neither. There are many un-answered questions with her, one of which finally being delivered regarding sylvari as mordrem minions but I feel she just keeps running away.. and no duh, she’s a thief but come on.. the recent cliffhangers were rather disappointing. Something I will never understand about her is/was her tolerance/relationship for Faolain. Faolain is downright evil. Everyone knows it. It just makes it a sticky situation to believe.
Other characters:
Malyck is a character I want to know more about. Where is he? He literally just disappeared; he was intriguing and clearly knows of other places that exist we could explore. What’s his purpose? Origin (aside from NOT being from the Pale Tree)? There’s so many un-answered questions..
Although many people seem to hate Scarlet Briar and I agree partially on the fact that the way she was introduced was utter ridiculous, over-the-top one big joke I think she is still a unique, interesting character that could have been so much more. Whether she was truly a villain or one of those baddies doing something indirectly good (waking up Mordy so we can kill him) I think the whole Harley Quinn theme about her made it somewhat humorous but still, incredibly cheesy & silly.
So yeah. I do miss the original Destiny’s Edge. These new ones could use some work. I’m grateful we have what we have though I suppose..
EOTM: Bagfarm, K-train, wvw rank gain mega ultra ez mode.
But to answer that question: Because that’s the way the keep was designed whether it be intentionally strategic or not.. blue keep will forever be a pain to any enemy attacker if it’s being defended… and boy is defending in EOTM ridiculously easy peasy.
I just tested this out. Got a weird numbered item “trophy” too. A while ago Caithe’s house was not enter-able.
Agreed with Danikat; possibly an accident.
Eitherway, whenever something has the double (( )) it usually means to be decided, may change, not 100% certain etc.
Side-note: I’ve never been in Caithe’s house before but jeeze it’s bare ‘n’ boring… don’t got no board games where the fridge at and is that some sort of WHITE POWDER on the table gurlll whatchu been rollin thar?
Block them in return. Problem solved. Scenario gets worse? Report them.
Just last night I was on my condi engi in wvw. Literally only just geared them up never played condi engi had no idea what I was doing just spamming buttons thinking oh god what am I doing and managed to kill this guy.. as I ran off I get a few rude messages and I laughed. Went to ping them a Packet of Salt but sadly since they have me blocked you can neither whisper or mail them back and this is where I agree it is flawed; they can still whisper/mail/verbally abuse you or take things further if they have you blocked. Sigh.
I’ve been getting quite a few negative whispers mostly in wvw but at least it gives me a laugh because they’re such childish comments.
I really wish toys etc were shared account-wide. I have a few doubles of broomsticks or even kites and bobbleheads for the laughs but now I regret buying a few, that or they take up inventory space.
from what people have told me I believe the shadowdyekit have a good chance of a shadowdye drop. I mean, there’s 10 shadowdyes and 25 possible drops (assuming the dropchance is the same on all of the dyes)
Yellow popped up quite a fair bit, same said for guildies.
I stopped doing world bosses as I grew extremely bored of the same old, rather easy, routine. I only really hop in when it comes to either Teq & KQ.
Here’s my 2 cents:
- Shadow Behemoth is too easy. He basically does nothing. I feel like he should have fear or more poison fields etc to keep people moving as everyone just stacks on his front door 24/7. The spawned mobs are only a problem to those people who are actually busting their butts doing REAL work by taking down portals.
- Fire elemental needs more health. Seriously. That thing goes down faster than Jesus on wheels for all I’ve seen and perhaps it’d be nice to have more firey-themed mobs spawn before the actual boss spawns so people don’t just camp on that ledge all the time.
- Golem Mark II …I’ve never attempted to challenge myself by stepping off that safe-spot box but let’s think about it. Remove the box or make it rotate/spawn elsewhere so people are actually moving about more would be interesting. His damage/mechanics are fine as it is.
- Ulgoth the Modniir is by far unbearably lame. It’s a bother enough to wait for the pre to complete, especially being the one doing the events. As others have stated; the duo of beasts spawn and it’s a DPS along with the earth hands and Ulgoth himself. There’s no threat. Sure, the hand mechanics with the winds knock you around but they don’t put you in any danger. He should call in reinforcements of sorts or do more AEO summon-damage.. considering he DID summon those earth hand things.
- The Shatterer is one of the most awesome looking dragons I’ve seen in this game but everything delivered with this world boss is excruciatingly underwhelming. It’s literally a camp on the ledge/his front doorstep and DPS him. The mobs that spawn legit die as soon as they do.. nothing is protecting the crystals either. He needs better combat mechanics; hell, I don’t even know what he DOES since there’s so many of his just sitting in one spot AA’ing. Give him something that hits, and hits hard to make us more wary and make it challenging. That or make the mobs tanky. I love the look of those branded griffins but I never get to see them as they die near-instantaneously…
- Jungle Wurm has a good combination of fear/AEO/combat mechanics. New people it should be somewhat of a challenge, yes, people always go down at this event but the ones who are familiar with it will rarely ever see it as nothing more than a quick beating and it’s dead. Those AEO poison circles seem to be in the SAME places everytime. Make them random. Get us dodging.
- Taidha Covington is an interesting boss at first due to the build-up of requirements to initiate the actual fight but when she does waltz out.. low and behold – another DPS and she’s dead. It’s a pirate fort. There should be cannons still somewhere out of reach AOE’ing at us that maybe knock us back or even periodically mobs show up to catch our attention etc. I think this event lacks something after she walks out…
I don’t really have any concerns with the other world bosses.
I’ve set foot in there a few times but not enough to know 100% everything about it. Hence saying that I WOULD know more if the map had something worth spending time in there but as far as I can tell:
- Mobs aren’t really solo friendly
- The JP is difficult I don’t even think I’ve beaten it yet
- Not really any events and if there are they aren’t rewarding
- Requires group work yet the map is empty before/after Karka Queen
- Only time it gets busy is Karka Queen
- The zone has no exploration goals/incentives (map completion)
- Nothing to buy here save for that interesting 150+ Toughness utility food item
There should be some sort of dungeon or add existing currently ‘un-obtainable’ items in there so that they are, finally, obtainable.
I honestly wouldn’t care HOW a new dungeon is implemented, say, some priory/vigil explorers have discovered an underground cave etc as a new dungeon or whatever.
Oh yeah, almost forgot about the Balth data mined thing. I want it. No. I need it. Now. Please.
For science & drop rate research purposes.
The following video shows the outcome or you can simply view the data below:
Opened on 25/03/15.
- Shadow Abyss x 5
- Shadow Blue Dye x 5
- Shadow Green Dye x 1
- Shadow Magenta Dye x 2
- Shadow Orange Dye x 4
- Shadow Purple Dye x 3
- Shadow Red Dye x 4
- Shadow Turquoise Dye x 3
- Shadow Violet Dye x 6
- Shadow Yellow Dye x 10
SIDE-NOTE: On the day these new dyes were released 17/03/15 I bought a bundle of 25 and I recieved 3 Shadow Abyss Dyes out of that.
The first 100 dyes were a good profit (x 5 Shadow Abyss alone). The next 50 yielded no Shadow Abyss sadly.
SW can be quite rewarding.
I’ve recently taken an interest in acquiring & completing certain ‘boxes’ for skins (preferably Carapace Coat Box(s)) via starting from scratch/hopping in a SW map (Foothold, Breach, VW etc) and I feel inclined to wear tanky gear as these Mordrem monsters are indeed quite dangerous if you make a mistake or let them get too close.
Here is my current set-up and I find I survive decently with this but I feel my damage is rather low.
CLASS: Engineer
GEAR: Full Sentinel
WEAPON/UTILITIES: Rifle | Healing Turret | Nade kit | Slick Shoes | Rocket Boots | Crate
TRAITS: 6 | 2 | 0 | 4 | 2
Each event/situation varies in SW and I’ve heard conditions work well against Mordrem and thus wouldn’t mind running a more offensive build regarding conditions, especially when it comes to escorting the pack bulls or engaging in a small group of Mordrem.
I don’t know what else I’d switch Slick Shoes out for; using that in combination with Rocket Boots makes for some very fast distance coverage/escapes/stun-breaker and the blast field thing from Rockets Boots paired with Healing Turret F1 is minute but.. handy I suppose.
I’ve tried full zerker in SW; great damage but I die. A lot. Embarrassingly.
So tell me, what’s currently working for YOU?
Feel free to discuss this topic and/or list any tips you may have.
