This is not about Tombs of Knowledge. This is about skill points and, to an extent the Scroll of Knowledge that GRANTS a skill point.
I too have a few alts with skill points that I could possibly use to buy certain ascended things and I’d like to know if it’s best to buy it now or…. save them and what?
Absolutely with OP here too. 26 toons; all mostly WvW orientated with a booty-load of gold & skill points invested in to unlock the traits etc.
Personally I would like to know more concrete information about this whole skill point thing.
Right now my main concern is ascended crafting requiring the Augur’s Stone (20 skill points for 1 stone) … can we still farm embroidered pouches for the scrolls that grant skill points to purchase this thing? It’s very.. confusing..
I have been pondering for too long on this subject of certain skins clearly in the game that… aren’t.. in the game.
I am not talking about Black Lion Ticket skins as they have and do make a return albeit rarely but my main point is skins such as (and solely as a simple example):
- “LivingWorld” Rewards e.g: Wings of the Sunless
- Decorative Molten Jetpack from possible NO LONGER AVAILABLE dungeon reward(s)
- even ranging as far as SAB skins
- Old PvP skins (e.g; Stalwart, not including ‘coat’)
The list could on forever.
I remember vaguely when the wardrobe system was first introduced a blog/news/feature pack post stated the following, and, the very first sentence introducing the post in all it’s obvious glory:
“One of the many exciting features coming in the April 2014 Feature Pack is the new Wardrobe, an account-wide system that allows you to collect every skin in the game!
Every skin. In the game.
“If that wasn’t enough, we’ve updated your bank with a Wardrobe Storage vault that includes every skin that you could potentially unlock!”
Potentially.
“In that tab, you can sort, filter, and search to see not only the skins you have access to, but every skin available in the whole game.”
Every skin. Available. In the whole game.
The key word is available.
And that’s exactly where it gets iffy and mis-leading. They are not available.
Potentially is completely disregarded in this situation as the skins are, technically, not obtainable therefore you cannot unlock them. At all.
Source: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/introducing-the-wardrobe-system/
I don’t mind skins that are/were discontinued not showing up in the wardrobe e.g:
- Celebration Hat https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Celebration_Hat
- Plush Moto Backpack Cover (debatable; related to SAB anyway) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Plush_Moto_Backpack_Cover
But skins that have been sitting there for months along with player inquiries on how, when, if or in general; explanations demanded in regards to these skins and their so called ‘availability’ in game needs to be addressed, or, cleaned up.
“Our plan is to continue augmenting the Wardrobe system, and our current design opens up a lot of possibilities to do that in the future.”
Continue augmenting. In other words – make (something) greater by adding to it; increase.
You have definitely added to it, I will give you that, but you certainly have not delivered it by means of mis-leading ‘advertising’ said skins in the wardrobe that clearly cannot be obtained.
Ask yourselves:
- Is this fair?
- Should certain skins be acquirable due to them being preview-able in the wardrobe? They exist.
- Are there conventional ways to ‘re-introduce’ said unobtainable skins?
I would like to invite anyone/everyone to share their thoughts/opinions on this subject and feel free to discuss this topic amongst yourselves.
Ele’s strong point is versatility. They can fullfil support and dps role very effectively.
This.
To me, ele is similar to a jack-of-all-trades. I’ve encountered many times various ele builds and I admire their versatility (DPS/zerker, somehwhat water-field healers, very tanky constantly healing eles, hard to catch aka nike eles and the list could go on).
Hi, I would like to inquire as well what a decent, cheap lap-top would be to run GW2 on. I don’t care if it’s absolute mininum settings only I just want something to do (crafting, buying/selling on TP) in the meantime during my breaks at work.
My budget is probz $400 or less (Aussie).
I’ve only recently started seeing/noticing hacking. When I first started playing I was solely PVE orientated; didn’t see a single hacker or anything in regards. I took a long break and came back around when mega-servers were introduced; getting more into dungeons, WvW and PvP.
Regarding dungeons, my 2nd time on an Arah path someone was carrying us all and this mesmer found a place where we could just skip heaps of content and at the time I didn’t know any better so I merely tagged along and was done with it for the day. It was a bug and I feel now all this time later it is an exploit; skipping content intended to be done to advance forward.
Other than that I have yet to see any hackers in PvP but in WvW I’ve seen my fair share and it’s lame. Really, downright disappointing that people do that type of stuff.
But yeah, fantastic game; a lot less spammy with gold sellers than other MMO’s and the odd hacker.
This has my vote in regards to pvp being in a state of distaste.
I join un-ranked expecting a normal team but what do I get? Usually 3 guardians for example due to it being national BRING YOUR GUARDIAN IN PVP DAY just for the daily.
It is off-putting and extremely boring knowing that other guard is probz just another bunker/never dying heavy build. Uhg.
I feel ANet has made a huge mistake by making this a thing. It should be changed to “win 2-3 games with any profession”.
I’m over being put with 2-3 rangers pew pewing. It’s stale. Lame.
EDIT: for more specific regarding build above.

Hmm. Sounds like Throw Bolas….
… “Blocked blocked blocked blocked blocked” 60% of the time I swear.
How do I go about deleting an old character, I want to start over from level 1. Thank you
Funnily enough I deleted the other day around 6 toons I legit never use anymore. Good way of clearing up stuff.
1. On the character select page click on the character you wish to delete.
2. Bottom-right corner of screen is a delete button. Click that.
3. Type in the full, correctly spelled name of that specific character and it will allow you to delete it.
Just make sure to bank anything you want to keep from a character before deleting it!
They don’t call it a Box ’o Fun for nothing…
I have 30 accounts spread across different servers, but I havent made any use of it yet.
So that’s $300 just sitting there doing nothing?
Sitting and doing nothing earns you money in GW2
Login once a day ~ 50g per month (40 laurels per month via daily => buy T6mats for laurels). That’s what I meant with it pays off for regularly gold buyers after 3 month. And 30 accounts looks like a quite extensive gem/gold buyer. I would not even have an idea what I should do with 1500g per month
Thank you for explaining; I see how that profits people with multiple accounts now. It is a rather.. Shrewd way of gold making.
1. Roll a female sylvari and make it look like Caithe.
2. Name it ‘Steal Yo Girl Next’.
3. PROFIT!
Get ready for max size Norns clad in rainbow dyes wielding stuff like MOOT with MINSTREL and their shiny new, lazer-spitting, 1,500 range visual effects, expensively new legendary trinkets all the while donning a CMD tag in the middle of LA dancing around with all those blazing multi-colored footfall effects too.
Jokes aside, I agree we need 500 jewel crafter. I’m sick of wasting laurels on asc trinkets when it could easily be crafted.
As far as I’m aware; there is solely only the Dreamcleaver Logging tool. No matching mining/harvesting tools.
It is odd, indeed. More so because they’ve released a whole range of Dreamthistle weapons (same thing pretty much).
These weapons go very well with teal dyes, Cyanide.. But that’s another topic entirely.
Agreed; just the other night I was CMDing whilst being on the flame ram pressing 1 or trying to as fast as I could, had to reply in like 5 quick lines and the 6th one got suppressed.
It’s annoying and very inconvenient.
It’s called a ‘display name’ for a reason. You know, something that’s on display.. To the public?
I cannot fathom how people did not understand that when signing up. Personally I made up whatever when making mine and I don’t care much about it but I do agree for those seeking to change due to a real name or something being typed in for it to be changed. Otherwise, this is the internet. Once something goes on it.. No going back.
Be mature, think before you act.
- Turret Engi
- Turret Engi
- Turret Engi
- Turret Engi
- Turret Engi
Jokes aside, I’d probz go for as mentioned above, cele Ele, Power Necro, Medi Guard MAYBE thief and then something heavy like warri.
I would actually like to know this too. A lot of ‘unofficial’ color codes regarding CMD tags have been suggested.
How about people provide something like this:
Server: Fort Aspenwood
Blue (traditional): PUG/anyone welcome
Red: Havok
Yellow: Guild group
Purple: a tag only a mother would love
This is just an example.
EOTM benefits:
- Karma farm
- level new alts fast
- WvW rank gain relatively quickly
- necro fear spots for days
- bag farm (up levels)
- alternate setting for GvG fights
- alternate setting for duels
- test out new builds/gear etc
If EOTM didn’t exist it is more than likely WvW would have an influx in up levels which merely become bag fodder for the enemy 80 zergs and to rally off causing aggravation between both sides. Newer players alike may jump onto Flame Rams, for example, with zero perks in ramming thus causing things to proceed botheringly slow. Be grateful these inconveniences are drawn into EOTM instead.
Despite being so brain-dead forward (capture this place, move on) it is interesting to see how certain CMDs play. It is also somewhat of a task to get those uplevels to follow instructions. Maybe they are just new players? Maybe they have yet to unlock certain skills that allow them to benefit themselves and their Zerg/CMD (NPE..sigh)?
Either way, the karma is good and the bags are a bonus. Personally I find it entertaining seeing certain sides or guilds steamrolling each other or the ‘trains’ in general. It is, after all – a wvw oriented place which means hostile enemy players are present.
One last thing; without the use of teamspeak I think a lot of CMDs have done well herding what seems like cats half the time. And at least if those up levels/new players spend some time in there they may get a taste of what real wvw could be like.
I have 30 accounts spread across different servers, but I havent made any use of it yet.
So that’s $300 just sitting there doing nothing?
I genuinely don’t understand why people do this other than what OP mentioned; gold selling purposes and/or spying.
What a waste of time, money and space. Someone else could’ve gotten into a higher up server (DB for example) to be with their friends for wvw purposes. Jeeze.
I now make all mine smallest size as I often have the intent on using them in mostly pvp/wvw.
If you want something; you work for it. Once you get it, you earned it and you dang well know you’ve earned it.
Did I enjoy rezzing 1,000 things for Combat Healer title? Nope. But I’m glad I just stuck through it and eventually got it.
Did I like being obliterated in PvP for a part of the Glorious Armor box skins? Not really but I endured every second of it and I’m so happy I finally got that reward.
Did I have fun waiting out in WvW till our guild had enough players to assault a keep and capture it for the daily? Not in the slightest but I definitely got that daily done a while after.
This game caters to PvP, PvE and WvW. There are certain requirements for things. Attempt it, endure it, deal with it and appreciate your hard earned reward.
16. Always have a stun breaker on your bar. (Stability helps too). It can be a life saver especially if you’re just trying to catch up to your Zerg.
17. Bind a key that quickly shows behind your character so you can always check if you’re being tailed/stalked/followed. Be sure to check behind you frequently. Never let yourself tunnel vision.
Sorry but it’s a big nope from me.
1. Guild halls is coming. Pretty much very similar but.. Useful, better?
2. What a massive waste of gold it would be unless you have absolutely nothing else in the game to buy.
3. I feel it would split the community up and we’d see less people running around in the open world (pve, pvp, wvw).
4. What if you had no friends to share this.. Gold sink with? ‘Who needs friends’ is another thing entirely but still.. Ehhh.
5. Is there any beneficial long term bonuses to splurging everything just to make an instance look prettier?
There’s other reasons but these are the main ones.
The only minutely positive things that I can think of from this is:
1. Gives role players another place to go.
2. Private instanced events with friends (coughguildhallscough)
I don’t intend to be negative in any way but that’s all I could think of.
If you want Slick Shoes to have a cast animation you better start being creative and adding ideas as to how/what/when this animation can take place instead of just flatly stating ‘slick shoes needs a wind up animation’.
If you don’t add suggestions to improve said issue it will more than likely be overlooked/disregarded.
Here’s an example:
Slick Shoes has no wind up animation like other hard CCs do. I strongly believe this brings an unfair advantage in the midst of a fight when you have no indication that Slick Shoes is about to activate. We could resolve this issue by adding a wind-up animation to Slick Shoes such as the engineer’s hand/arm raising up or them quickly reaching down to ‘adjust’ something to do with their shoes. This could be as quick as the rangers Point Blank Shot animation or better still; enough to give a proper reaction time.
Constructive feedback. Enough said.
Each to their own but a reasonable question nevertheless – why would the developers bother adding this skin in the wardrobe as a preview if we can’t even obtain it no more? Better still; the chest piece is a PS reward.. Why not the rest?
I too can think of many ways this set could be re-added I to the game but there’s no point bothering; it’d be dead last on the list of ‘things to do/fix’ if a list like that even exists.
Same thing with the Pinnacle weapon skins.. Previews only and not actually obtainable. Not that I fancy any in particular but just release them into the BLC.. We all know they’re ticket weapons.
There is also the ‘Primitive Staff’ skin that looks very cool yet absolutely nothing on how to obtain it etc. looks like a centaur boss’ weapon.
Just a fun thread regarding NPCs across the 5 playable races.
From each race, choose your favorite NPC or one you like/admire/find intriguing and give a description why (brief or lengthy doesn’t matter).
Example (lengthy, no particular order):
CHARR: Rytlock Brimstone
Hands down this character is awesome. Familiar to many and recently drawing our attention to the upcoming Revenant profession will pose as a very noteworthy, compelling figure. Voice actor has wonderfully accentuated this character to it’s fullest and I’m very grateful for the efforts in making this character shine in certain personal story instances and cutscenes/upcoming HoT scenes. This is a character I can take seriously and believe will continue to be a great asset to the list of well-known NPCs and their decions/consequences.
ASURA: Councillor Phlunt
I don’t ‘like’ this character but I’ve grown to appreciate a personal humor that’s sprouted when it comes to his blunt, arrogant remarks. Introduced into the LS his first impression is shared by many likeminded players: this character is rude and annoying. Whether it be intentional or not I believe the developers have successfully delivered a character that sets a new level for dry, sarcastic absurdity and slightly irritating views. It will be interesting to see any further impact this character makes.
HUMAN: Lady Grimassi
Scout the land of Tyria and show me ONE Human NPC that is NOT ‘young’ in appearance – low and behold, the majestic and slightly eerie Lady Grimassi. This skill point related character is disturbingly thought-provoking at first glance and still to this day spooks me out. For an old lady, her design is spot on and I genuinely appreciate the work put into making this NPC so distinct. I strongly believe the Human cities, towns and docks deserve more elderly characters as it would pop that immersive feeling further so. The game world lacks these brilliant, exclusive characters.
SYLVARI: Faolain
How this being treats others is a gem in itself and I think no other character takes the cake for how sinister, unnerving and downright obviously cruel this NPC has proven. Albeit ‘missing’ for a lengthy duration our knowledge on this character can be garnered from the Twilight Arbor Dungeon instances, including the recent LSS2 episodes: portraying a character more than capable of influencing others; a prominent example of speaking their mind/views with little regards/care towards others. It has been a healthy step exploring the past and I look forward to any further critical imprints this character leaves as I strongly believe this individual has great potential in the game’s current state regarding Mordremoth/Sylvari/Nightmare Court/HoT etc.
NORN: Jora
A good historical figure tying Norn lore in place as evident on her statue plauqe. My slight unfamiliaraties & inexperience playing one of a Norn has led me to choose a more chronicled character, thus, I do not have much to say in regards to this individual despite them being somewhat captivating. Lore alone is critical in a game and it is significant to see ancient characters prompting the minds of players through their presence in-game via statues/memorials.
So tell me, what 5 race-specific NPCs are YOUR favorites?
If it’s red it should be dead.
However, if I know beforehand that people are dueling (e.g; I see them emote or ‘bow’ in chat) I’ll leave them alone and go about my business.
It’s wvw though. Stuff happens. Can’t blame you.
For any TLDR:
OP is requesting/suggesting a trait/build template feature to be implemented into the game.
I, and many others agree it would be a massive QOL feature which has been requested numorously by the player base but no word from ANet in regards to it.
Thief.
I ran around appearing ‘armorless’ in wvw (just hid any gear I could and un-equipped stuff that showed) on my condi thief and I must say.. a lot of salty orphan tears were shed that day. I came across a melee only warri and all I had to do was immobilize him with pistol skill #2 and let my condis chew away at him.
Another good laugh was a mesmer that tried attacking me whilst I had aggro’d one of those guards.. I just stealthed and managed to find the ‘real’ mesmer and vomited all my condis into their face. They went down fast due to barely any condi removal, haha.
But yeah – anything condi-related and you’re bound to get a whisper of some sort implying said use of ‘cheese’ build. Oh my.
WAIT A MINUTE. I just found this… NOOOOO. I thought Caithe’s face was unique. IT LOOKS WEIRD ON OTHER NPCs. HAhah.
http://vigilbutts.tumblr.com/post/116688487109/anet-stop-teasing-pls-just-give-this-face-i-s2g
I see players. Players everywhere.
Might be your time zone when you log in it could seem like less as that’s happened to me before logging in at different times of the day.
But in general; mega servers made maps A LOT more ‘filled’ with players.. Especially at world boss events.
If you see a particular feature on an NPC, chances are that is exclusive to NPCs only and is not obtainable.
There have been cases in the past where ANet has been kind enough to release something identical or related to a particular NPC: e.g, Scarlet Briar’s hairstyle was released to the player base.
But yeah.. In a way I’m glad certain NPCs have NPC only things else it’d get a bit stale seeing everyone run around looking exactly like them..
This is pure gold.
Meh. Didn’t really care for this mini much in the first place.
Now that they’ve added ‘tiers’ to it I can’t help but be reminded of DeviantArt’s ‘llama badges’… and how people are so intent on acquiring them.
I actually wanted to make a build originally just for solo ‘survive as long as possible’ regarding warrior due to their plethora of traits/ability things that grant regen etc but I found it also useful for frontline zerging/CMDing.
I’m still experimenting with it so a few utilities are kind of meh but it’s fun. I know I’m literally doing zero dmg but hey.. it’s tanky as hell.
ARMOR, WEAPONS, RUNES, SIGILS:
- Armor: Full Nomads
- Weapons: Full Nomads
- Trinkets: Full Nomads
- Armor Runes: Superior Rune of the Dolyak
This build is focusing on being tanky. Eating a lot of CCs for your zerg, jumping out if it gets too dangerous and being able to regen quick and generally just being annoying to take down if people focus you (good at wasting THEIR time).
- Weapon set MAINHAND: Greatsword (for mobility purposes, can swap to Hammer for CCs)
- Weapon set OFF-HAND: Sword + BOTH Warhorn (out of combat, zerg swiftness) AND Shield (About to enter combat)
- Mainhand Sigils: Superior Sigil of Momentum + Superior Sigil of Purity
- Off-hand Sigils: Superior Sigil of Momentum + EITHER Superior Sigil of Purity OR Superior Sigil of Renewal
TRAITS:
0 | 0 | 6 | 6 | 2
DEFENSE: Shield Master (added toughness + reduced recharge is obvious), Dogged March (this is a toss up between DM or you can choose Sure-Footed. I like DM due to the regen), Rousing Resilience (Every utility this build has is a stun-breaker. You have a trait that is a stun-breaker. 1000 toughness for 8 seconds can be a life saver. This trait apparently has no CD either you can stack stunbreakers for the +1K toughness?)
TACTICS: Empowered or Leg Specialist (Nothing too useful on the blue traits sadly), Shrug it Off (This is your stun-breaker trait to proc Rousing Resilience and the condi cure(s) are nice), Empower Allies (obviously because you’re in a zerg)
DISCIPLINE: Warrior’s Sprint (You’ll probably have perma-swiftness if you’re running with a zerg but if not feel free to choose something more.. useful(?) that compliments the build)
SLOT SKILLS:
This is still being experimented with but the Dolyak Signet is a keeper.
- Healing Signet (This is your regen source, try never to activate)
- Dolyak Signet (Try to keep for passive effect)
- Balanced Stance (Obvious stab is obvious, stunbreaker)
- Endure Pain (Use at start of zerg vs zerg collision or whenever you feel appropriate)
- Signet of Rage (originally just for mobility but could swap for Battle Standard)
FOOD, UTILITY FOOD, APPLICABLE BOOSTERS:
FOOD: Bowl of Cactus Soup (“Gain health every second, +70 Toughness”)
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bowl_of_Cactus_Soup
UTILITY FOOD: Potion of Karka Toughness (“+150 Toughness”)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Potion_Of_Karka_Toughness
APPLICABLE BOOSTERS Rejuvenation Booster (If you really, really, really want to get that extra bit of regen… why not?)
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rejuvenation_Booster
EDIT: Sorry if this post is lengthy, idk how to use that website that makes the builds etc but generally speaking… I’ve either been the last one standing in battle plenty of times or have successfully escaped/survived due to this build.
EDIT #2:: I am using full exotics; don’t have the geode things yet for ascended.

report as botting, send in game mail to “GM ProHeals”, or email video to anet, but dont publicly name and shame or youll get infracted cuz forum rules
Thanks for the feedback/info. I will email the video to ANet.
Oh okay; I have no intentions of publicly naming and shaming – the video provided is solely intended for evidence purposes and is not intended to ‘name and shame’. If this forum thread requires deleting due to apparent ‘naming and shaming’ policy(s) I understand and will abide.
Yep report them as a bot. More information is provided in
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/GM-Proheals-is-running-around-WvW/page/2#post4930976
Thank you very much for the link; much appreciated.
…I’ve seen my fair share of players hacking but this was so painfully obvious it’s almost cringe-worthy and I believe ANet needs to take action against this hacker; clear and evident.
I’ve never reported anyone before, only those pesky gold selling bots, so at the time of recording I did not report this hacker due to my lack of knowledge on what category this type of hacking should fit under. “Botting” seems the prime candidate? Please clarify this for me.
I am posting this here because I am not sure where else to go. Feel free to re-direct me to another service I can provide this evidence to.
Regarding the following video clip: the purpose of this recording is solely for evidence of hack(s) being used which is against the rules. ANet please take action against this player/person.
- You will most likely enjoy playing Warrior or Guardian. I find Warrior more enjoyable but if I feel like being Oprah handing out free boons to everyone then I’ll drive a Guardian instead.
- Having maxed out all crafting professions one thing I can tell you is it’s one of the fastest ways to level alts if you got the gold.
- I’m an alt-o-holic so I do tend to make multiple sets of gear (ascended-wise) and if things change then I can always test it out on another toon. Gear does not degrade; it’s always there you just need to visit a repair station and it’s free of charge if it gets damaged.
Feel free to ask any further questions and welcome to GW2.
Maybe an axe that looks similar to a butcher knife thing?
I approve and agree; a mini Sieran would be lovely.
Yes after doing my first map completion I felt zones were blocky/square/rectangular. It’s awkward but I’m used to it.
It’s a fantasy game.
It is still a bit odd having mountains block every side of a zone.. But what can you do to cut off a map without having just a fading/foggy border? Ehhh.
I’ve been briefly checking the ‘Full’ servers at all times of the day (Australia) and even long into the wee’ hours of the morning… For a good month now… And they haven’t budged.
They’re still all.. Apparently, ‘Full’.
So I seriously wish you luck on your hunt.
Idk about you guys but I think it’s the Mini Bee Dog that I find unbearably annoying. Some kind of continuously, unrelenting, everlasting dog panting and it’s disturbing.
I vouch too, for an option to turn off mini pet sounds. Uhg.
Err,
Regarding Lunatic Inquisition minigame where players were getting up onto the ledge/cliff to hide from enemy players (ghosts?) whom had reduced movement speed… Ghosts could still get to that ledge by dodge + jump rolling as it made them move faster to reach that ledge and yeah, I feel like jumping and dodging at the same time kinda makes things faster/further.
People reporting the PLAYER?
That’s seriously disgusting if so.
This is clearly a BUG that has to do with the beta tests. What if players running around with these skins/armor dont understand it’s a bug? Report the BUG, people, not the player.
Unless this armor/skin gives any kind of stat advantage over others then I see it as harmless running around with a BUGGED SKIN that needs to be addressed.
Thief is one of the fastest profs in the game.
- Heartseeker spam
- trait that gives SWIFTNESS on dodge
- signet that gives 25% movement speed increase
- universal runes that give 25% movement speed increase
- chaining teleports on red/yellow enemies/things
- Shortbow skill #5
Seriously, thief is fast.
