Hate against rangers and thieves in WvW.

Thieves, rangers and engi’s bring nothing useful to the table in terms of large zerg/blob squad comp other than possibly singling out enemy players who fray too far from the zerg. A possible exception would be GOOD druids who know how to play support heals albeit ventari healbot builds exist and can pump out 10k+ heal bursts every few seconds alongside resistance plus alacrity spam on siege when assaulting objectives.

I would much rather have a third guardian, as an example, in my sub squad than a thief because at least that player brings very powerful boons; stability & protection etc.

Smaller scale however, they tend to shine and can be a nuisance to the enemy’s supply lines, towers etc. Outside of the main squad or branched off into a havoc/gank squad Engi’s are known to utilize their stealth with magnet pull for pin sniping though sniping in general is frowned upon.

I say play what you want but try to play smart… I never understand why players cry about not being part of the squad when the oldschool party system still exists and is just as useful if you actually show the initiative and common sense to advertise in map chat “lfg” or tell players you’re organizing a secondary squad for those who can’t get into the main tag’s.

TLDR: It’s not the end of the world folks – play smart, show initiative and organize your own squad/party system to help your server mates as a whole.

Just don’t be whinging to ANet when you get 100-0’d out of the blue from a thief or mesmer.

Stealth?

If no class could stealth out of combat in WvW:

  • Thief trait 50% movement speed
  • Trapper Rune stealth bonuses
  • Thief F1 stolen skill alongside many of their skills 100% useless (e.g; Blinding Powder, Blinding Tuft, Shadow Refuge etc)
  • Many skills and combo fields redundant in terms of tactical defense/setting up a spike (e.g; Druid GS leap through smokescale ability, Toss Elixir S, Stealth Gyro)
  • Stealth disruptor trap redundant because yo homie can’t stealth in the first place
  • Goodbye mesmer veil/mass invis combo onto your enemy

Probably more but those are just off the top of my head…

No thanks. If they were implemented into a reward track then players would just pve k-train it all in EoTM and ANet has stated skirmish tickets are tied to skirmishes which is WvW; EoTM is not part of the mist war.

I think the current 365/week is decent.

Underwater combat is frustrating and many weapon skills feel clunky alongside movement in general. There is also the issue of certain skills being unusable, too. They ditched making underwater BL skins a long time ago. You only ever go underwater to complete a heart quest/event/guild mission and that’s about it. Not worth the time and effort.

Chronos and tempests/eles are capable of outputting a plethora of boons. It’s why you see basically perm quickness/protection and everything else. Hard to lock down one due to the others simply reapplying boons near instantly parallel to sustain/heals etc. 2000+ range? No, doubt it. Sounds like a regular organized group. Had a similar scenario take place last night at home camp enemy BL; a group of 4-5 players had constant bar of boons on them and the sustain was crazy. Fight lasted over 15 mins despite respawns coming in to fend them off.

Assuming you have Team chat checked in the list, try deleting the comms tab that it’s on, then make a new one, and check all the boxes.

I seem to recall guild chats and others dropping out before and that being a solution that worked.

I’ve done this but to no avail. Still bugged.

I approve. Was a little taken aback when I equipped mine and there wasn’t any noticeable difference in lighting (max settings). It only makes sense since it’s all fiery.

Players in game told me I’m pretty much screwed and it’s un-fixable yet others have seemed to get it fixed.

Running tagless reasons:

  • Guild group and don’t wish to draw PUGs aka we blob ezmode k-train now boiz
  • Enemy server is tag watching your every move (spy)
  • Guild training to “follow target” even when there is none
  • The group genuinely doesn’t use a tag nor needs one because they are already coordinated
  • Avoiding having another tag on map join up with your tag (refer to point 1)

Inside Exuberant Dye Kit is a choice of account bound dye bundles, similar to ones you buy in the gem store, however, from this accound bound selection the actual dye that you pick is trade-able. I just sold Destroyer Orange Dye on the TP. I figure they will crash soon.

1. Both Guard and Rev are required for meta party/sub squad(s) synergy; stability is what keeps us all alive and resistance spam fends off the condi’s. Warri on the other hand isn’t as common but still welcome especially if you pull off generous Battle Standard elite(s) (e.g; resurrection on commander).

2. Current meta usually consists of the aforementioned Guardian (x2), Rev along with Reaper and Mes/Tempest for boonshare and/or support heals. Just depends what your commander needs at the time. The meta itself is largely dominated by your heavy frontliners that push in (parallel to midline/frontline Tempests for heals etc) supported by resistance spam combined with the absolute bag full of cancer that is Reaper condi’s on top of other viable power oriented builds such as CoR spamming power revs/DPS Berserkers. You’ll find certain guild groups making use of Mesmer’s traits such as invul signet spam, occasionally.

3. Main changes to WvW in the last year or more are as follows (no particular order):

  • More reward tracks added
  • Skirmish & various PPT/PPK adjustments & rewards
  • Shield Generator siege (2015)
  • Gliding has been added to WvW (currently under testing)
  • Catapults now do more dmg if fully charged
  • Slight terrain adjustments due to Gliding introduced
  • Provisions Master (World Ability Points)
  • Drop bundle now deposits siege into your inventory instead of on the ground
  • Gift of Battle locked behind reward track instead of bought out right with currency
  • Slight changes to how Participation depletes/accumulates etc
  • WvW legendary backpiece + legendary armor (available; Warbinger. Not sure about the armor yet but you will be able to upgrade the ascended version you acquire in WvW to legendary tier… retains regular asc version skin though.)
  • Handful of profession/skill balance including recent changes to food consumables + utility consumables has affected WvW gameplay (e.g; Epidemic changes, condition, expertise, concentration foods in particular)

There’s probably more but that’s just off the top of my head. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any questions if you wish.

EDIT: just a heads up regarding Warri new elite spec; Spellbreaker has proven to be quite destructive boon hate etc so we may see the return of HAMMERSTUNNNNN! builds (theorycrafting here with guildies) with absorption sigils etc. Was very fun in the beta rompin’ around with Scourge’s (necro new elite spec) barrier mechanics, too.

Meh it’s the same as HoT launch. You can either be part of the rookies testing out their elite specs or crush them with existing builds because they probably won’t have any idea what they’re doing for a while.

Went to make a chubby Asura a long time ago. Instant regret. Not only did i have the same ‘floating shoulder’ on like 80% of the skins to choose from but now I also suffered crazy clipping, especially with the legs/feet armor. In order to make more body types if at all possible – they’d need to tend to the existing issues at hand when it comes to armor skins etc working with certain body types.

I disliked HoT adventures because:

  • A few are so difficult that it proved useless to have a “leader board” when one could barely advance past gold to begin with
  • Not enough of an incentive (maybe reward a chunk of map currency per tier per day e.g; 25, 50, 100)
  • Time-gated behind events
  • Locking mastery points behind ALL said frustrating mechanics above

Once I got my masteries I never looked back. Sure, I still got a couple left but what good are excess HoT mastery points save for perhaps achieves? Ehh. I hope PoF proves a lot more fluid and incentive to play them.

My first ever toon was a female Charr. I regret deleting her. Despite the clipping and awkward armor skins on them they’re still my favorite race. Would love to see new Charr horns/hairstyles that are more natural. I would like to see a tiger face! I don’t think any of the male ones have a tiger theme. There was one that looked kind of like a lion. Anyway, look forward to any new features for Charr.

How did everyone get so much WXP?

Hi, I would recommend the following if you have access to them:

  • Celebration/Birthday Booster (100%)
  • XP Booster (100%)
  • Guild Buff (10%)
  • WXP Booster (50% stacks with others, no longer available but “Mini WXP Booster” still exists via levelling up a new character)
  • Being near Guild Objective Aura II (10%)
  • Outnumbered (25%)

Since the nerf (long ago) to EOTM XP gain etc I doubt that place rewards as much WXP as it used to and with the recent addition to WvW rewards it is commonly a lot less populated. I highly suggest sticking to real WvW and be present for reset day since a lot of stuff is paper and there’s plenty of bags to be had by enemy players in zerg collisions. Tag up in quiet hours when no one else will; it helps your server out and shows you have initiative to command even when there may not be as many players. You’ll be assaulting/capping enemy objectives in no time with the help of server mates if you play it right.

EDIT: Additionally, there are some players who play longer than you might so perhaps they rake in more WXP etc.

Discussion On How Reward System Works

Wow I literally just replied to a similar thread.

This had been on my mind ever since they introduced the Nomads stat.

I fully support this in terms of those playing healer heavy builds (minstrels, nomads etc). On my full melee minstrel ventari healbot build I hit like a WET NOODLE and because of the way the build works being melee heavy it’s hard to land hits in the first place despite pumping out 8k+ heals and boons galore to allies. Would be nice to see a change in how the current system works by removing the required ‘tagging’ mechanic – even just for a week to see how it plays out. I think actively and determinedly supporting allies should be sufficient enough regardless whether or not you tag enemies.

Change Tagging Mechanics

It gets annoying following a zerg, playing better then normal (because you have no buffs from allies really) killing enemies and getting 1-2 wxp and no drops

Working as intended feature. From my memory, enemies who are killed multiples times in a short time frame are worth less WvW XP & result in little to no loot. This is to stop players abusing game mechanics (example: having a friend repeatedly feed themselves to you near a spawn point).

Anet needs to update tagging, specifically in wvw so that it detects if you are around other ally players (in or out of the same squad) and if you tag an enemy and any of your ALLIES tag an enemy, you get full wxp/loot tagging credit

While I don’t fully understand whether you meant a full on passive gameplay “around other players” or if you meant tagging an enemy and other players tag that enemy you get WvW XP… hence stating that – it’s already in the game. If I tag an enemy player and an ally tags and KILLS it then I get credit, too. I think an alternative approach in terms of ACTIVE gameplay; support may be a more welcome approach.

Examples are as follows under the condition the ally player you supported kills an enemy regardless whether or not you tagged their defeated enemy:

  • Providing more than 2-3 boons on that player
  • Healing over X amount on that player
  • Providing a unique trait buff (e.g; Strength In Numbers) for longer than ~15 seconds

After giving it a few tries I am still neutral. I’m still adamant that you shouldn’t be able to re-open your glider if you get into combat. Some places on the map could do with tweaking and/or adding barriers so as not to encourage enemies cheating the system as we’ve witnessed in-game by gliding into territories they normally shouldn’t have been able to.

Judging by OP’s immense timeline of dissatisfaction regarding this topic at hand – details posted by Xenesisll above me, I can only suggest to you, OP, that you save some cold hard real cash and transfer servers.

There are many different communities. It looks like the server you are currently on has not been treating you very respectfully.

I think an overlay feature regarding hovering the mouse over the tag on either the main/mini map would be much more simple to indicate what that tag’s role is.

Example: (WvW only) Tagging up prompts a drop down menu that requires you to pick your role (public, havoc, scout etc). Once chosen anyone who hovers over your tag on the main map/minimap will be able to view your role underneath your commander icon.

Anet balancing..This is why i dont have high hopes for the new xpack and its new skillset and utils.

Yeah all jokes aside truthfully I AM looking forward to the next xpac (new skillsets, traits etc to shake up the meta) but a part of me is relentlessly pondering whether or not these elite specs will invalidate prior ones causing more powercreep and a shoe horn into another lengthy stale meta.

Am I still a bully if I genuinely roam to look for other solo roamers (and because when I come home from work all my guildies/friends are asleep on the other side of the world)? Didn’t know playing a game mode as intended (war zone) where defeating your enemy makes you a bully. I feel terrible, I should probably uninstall the game and end my life.
