fractals is only a huge part of the game if you dont like PvP or W3. There are plenty of W3 players who dont care much for fractals. Fractals is just one part of the game. There’s no need to try to make it sound like Fractals is all there is to GW2.

I leveled armorsmith to 500, but as I was crafting I previewed the armor pieces and noticed how small of a stat increase it was.

Below is the stat increase for a heavy berserker armor set (lets face it, it’s the most popular)

Defense: +55
Power: +14
Precision: +11
Crit damage: +1%
+6 Defensive Infusion slots

that’s less than one ruby orb

Keep in mind, this is for ascended heavy. The stats for the medium and light might be less.

If you don’t plan to go into triple digit fractals, you might not need this armor. The stat increase might not seem worth the cost of crafting ascended armor to some. Let’s not forget that, in general, most people do not like the skins for the ascended armors.

So, fellow players of Guild Wars 2, before you decide to spend hundreds of gold/hours scrambling to craft ascended armor, consider this information. This armor is really only for high level fractals.

This is ArenaNet’s answer to the players who migrated to GW2 from games like WoW who are addicted to grinding and running the same dungeons over and over and over for minuscule stat increases by fighting enemies that can pretty much one-shot them. If you are not a hardcore fractals player who is going to the 100+ level of fractals (if such a thing exists, I don’t know), I wouldn’t bother with this armor unless you really like the skin or just plain want every little bit of stat increase you can get (like me, because I’m a crit addict). Take this information how you will.

If even one player finds this information useful, then my job here is done. Good day to you.

Weapon dyes

So… weapons that can be dyed… when, if ever, are we going to have this option added? I don’t care if you make some crappy living story about ‘dyemancers’ that suddenly appear out of nowhere for no reason at all (maybe Scarlet burped and they came out) and randomly dye our weapons, where we unlock the feature to dye our weapons after we beat their leader, let us dye our weapons already.

I blame NCSoft’s largest shareholder, NEXON, for the constant 2 week update that keeps introducing new stuff to buy for gems. As long as NEXON holds the reins, ArenaNet has it’s hands tied. It’s like EA: pushing for profit rather than quality.

I disagree with this, as I feel the whole point of it being an action MMORPG, is that you have to judge your distances yourself, and if you swing out of distance, you miss, if you spell cast or fire a shot off, you miss…. It’s so much better this way, move to target took too little effort in combat for me.

That’s why I’m requesting it as an OPTION, like it already is in the dev client. You DONT have to use the feature if you don’t want to. Call me spoiled, but I played too much GW1 to not want that feature back.

GW2 isn’t being marketed as an ‘action’ MMO, you’re thinking of other MMOs. Sure, GW2 has action-esque elements like active dodging and blocking, but it’s not purely an action MMO.

when is ArenaNet going to make it so that players can knock off creatures in PvE from platforms and such?

I would think around the same time when they give mobs the ability to jump on and off things, so they can follow you when you jump off a cliff or onto a platform.

Players are already at a massive advantage.

I’m all for that! It would make fights more dynamic. Bring it on! Just let me knock foes around like ragdolls more appropriately.

It’s probably due to technical constraints. I can imagine e there might be a huge problem with the pathing (ie, it can’t find it’s way back up) if we can knock mobs anywhere.

It can’t be technical restraints. You can do it to other players all day without restriction (unless they have stability, obviously). But trash mobs have safeguards against being knocked around too much. Some foes even instantly teleport right back in your face after you have knocked them back. Sometimes knockback skills don’t actually knock a foe back and simply knock them down.

Any word as to when/if ArenaNet plans to establish an Oceanic/Asia data center for players from Austrailia, Japan, Korea, etc? We love you long time! If it’s a matter of funding (which I doubt), I’ll go as far as getting a kickstarter going to get you some cash for this thing.

Claw of Jormag triple damage

A few months ago I shared a screenshot where I did 48k damage against Claw of Jormag using the triple damage sweet spot. Today I took steps to increase my damage to as much as I could, and I managed to hit 61k. So exciting! My next goal is 65k. Anyone else have any similar or better results? I’d like to discuss stretegies!

I have been playing since the head start. It took 4 months for me to get my first rare item from defeating the Claw of Jormag. 4 months of blueberry salads, and to this day, over a year later, I have not gotten a single exotic from that chest. People who don’t believe in luck are fools. There is both good and bad luck, and some people end up on either extreme end of the spectrum. And this was just Claw of Jormag, the other chests were just a tiny tiny bit more generous.

Yes, I have gotten exotic drops elsewhere (though not very many at all). Almost all of my equipment was acquired through crafting. The few exotics I got were some of the more common exotics.

Yes, I know these items are meant to be rare, but you can’t deny the frustrations that people feel when some people get 4 precursors in one day and other people take 4 months to get a single rare from a chest that, at the time you could open multiple times per character in the same day. If it wasn’t for the bonus chests (thanks again ANET, you gave me a chance at actually having a few more than 10 ectos), I’d have gotten but a tiny fraction of the rares I’ve gotten so far. I would not have gotten the ectoplasms needed to make any of the weapons I wanted.

Stability is useful, obviously. The issue is that it usually has quite the long cooldown, and many foes will toss you around before your cooldown is over, This lets you avoid one, MAYBE two, knockdown/luanch/stun/daze/fear effects from a foe that uses several of these. And that’s the foes you see coming, you can’t be forgetting that sometimes foes randomly spawn right on top of you or sometimes even respawn almost immediately. Let’s see your 5 second stability save you from that while you teeter on the edge of a narrow path that happens to be just high enough to kill you instantly from falling damage.

Besides, are you really going to sit here and tell me you’re against the idea of knocking your foes off an edge? Where is your sense of mischievous fun? How many times have you used a skill like Stomp or some other knock back skill and lament at the fact that your foe hit an invisible wall and went nowhere? Wasn’t that such a buzz kill? It’s like blue balls.

You seem to be looking for legendary armour. The fancy stuff goes for legendaries typically, ascended is ‘unique’ but not over the top.

And that is exactly the problem. Why do we have to settle for decent looking skins when there are already far better looking armors in the original game that they should just hurry up and port over?

The ascended armor skins have already been data mined and leaked. I’ve seen them, and I am not impressed by them. ArenaNet really needs to port more GW1 armor skins to GW2. Like seriously. That game has SO MANY different armor skins (like over 200 divided among 10 different professions, each profession getting their own unique skin). People would mix and match and come up with so many armor variations. Even the new skins they recently released were not very aesthetically pleasing to me. I mean they are okay, but not great.

ARENANET, BRING MORE GW1 SKINS! YOU HAVE HUNDREDS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS!

It does. The feature was an option in the general options back in the early beta before release. They took it out just before release. I think it was because there were some PvP people who were crying about it, saying it broke the PvP. They have the feature already in place, they just haven’t made it available for the live game. I know they have it available in their own internal testing clients. I even saw it in a Youtube video a while back from one of the Devs who happened to bring up his options window for a moment to change something. The feature exists. Their testing client has a few extra features that the normal game client doesn’t (Obviously, it’s the dev client).

I do hope ANET brings the feature back. I loved it. It made various skills more effective, and it saved you from wasting a skill and putting it on cooldown just because you were out of range. The feature mostly benefits skills that are only effective from a certain range. It prevented skills like Eviscerate from being activated if you were not in range of your target for the skill to hit. If you had no target selected, the skill could still be used for no reason if you wanted.

ArenaNet, I love you, but sometimes you take out great features that drive me up the wall. Move to target was available in the early beta and it was a great. Why did you remove it?

Before any of you go off on a rant saying that it would break PvP, I encourage you to go play GW1’s PvP for a while and then come back. You back? Good. Did you notice that ‘move to target’ was a standard, non-optional feature in the game? And did you notice that GW1’s PvP was in no way broken because of it? To this day GW1’s PvP is among the most balanced and fun.

Do keep in mind I’m asking for the option to enable Move to Target, not make it permanent like it was in GW1. Those of you PvP zealots who feel that they would be at a disadvantage because of it, that’s what dodge/blind/CC is for.

Please consider bringing the feature back to the live game like it was in early beta. I KNOW you guys have it somewhere.

Option: Disable 'click to activate skill'

Would it be possible to give us the option to disable ‘click to activate skills’? I have my skills 6-10 as well as various UI windows all mapped my mouse (it has like 17 buttons). I often find myself unintentionally clicking on a skill and activating it when I meant to click on the very small arrow above the skill to change a skill out for another, thereby triggering the cooldown and preventing me from changing out the skill for the duration.

Adding this feature would be a great option for those of us who do not click our skills with the mouse and instead have them mapped to another button.

In the off chance that the option already exists and I just couldn’t find it, feel free to call me silly or whatever and help me find it. I’ve wasted many opportunities to play situationally better because of my accidental clicks.

Ah, I see. Thank you for the clarification. I wasn’t aware of the daily achievements thing because I didn’t bother with or care for the achievements for Blood and Madness, Teq Rising, Clockwork, or Jubilee. Achievement hunting is not something I do a lot of, and really only give an effort when the rewards are enticing or permanent, like that Obelisk Shard or the Quartz Formation. Minipets are not something I really care about lol

You’re the only person to have replied, and it’s the first time you’ve said this. What’s with the ‘3rd time’ nonsense? A simple explanation is all that’s needed. Now if you could please actually be helpful, what do you mean by dailies? I’ve been doing my dailies like normal. Other people have gotten their obelisk shard already whereas I have not.

So tell me, when is ArenaNet going to make it so that players can knock off creatures in PvE from platforms and such? It’s really quite unfair that a player can be knocked off a high platform by creatures to their deaths, but players can’t knock them off in return. I just don’t understand the logic behind this double standard.

Before anyone says “It’s so you cant knock off champions and avoid them”, that’s what Unshakeable is for. Most boss encounters don’t have the opportunity to be knocked off. Even with the few that you could potentially knock off a platform, all you have to do is make it so that they automatically reset if they are knocked off to discourage such ‘cheat’ tactics.

My concern isn’t for the champions, it’s for the trash mobs like krait that throw a spear at you and send you flying pretty far back. I was scaling a krait tower, fighting my way up (not just running through) and as I was fighting one, another flanked me and knocked me off the high platform, killing me instantly. This sort of thing is why people try to just run past everything in the first place. There is an abundance of creatures that can send players flying around like lifeless rag dolls, often times to instant death situations like the one I stated earlier. I’m okay with champions and legendaries not being able to be knocked off, but the trash mobs should definitely be subject to the same physics that we do. You guys already have limits on AoE damage and effects (which I also think is bad, but that’s for another discussion), why surround all PvE creatures with invisible walls that only the player can fall through?

Bloody Prince's armor

It’s hard to tell what the functionality of the item is from just a screen shot, so I’m here to clarify. This screen shot actually shows the Bloody Prince Thorn costume and not an armor skin, so it is not usable in combat.

And why not? I think I speak for a lot of players when I say that the game is lacking in the skin variety department. I’ve suggested it before, but I’ll do it again: more GW1 armor/weapon skins, and for the love of Melandru PLEASE DO NOT leave them at the mercy of Black Lion Chest RNG. Just give us the armors/weapons to buy out-right just like you guys did with the Primeval/Krytan/Profane/Aetherblade/Phoenix skins.

If you’re really feeling creative, make a new, ‘legacy currency’ that can be acquired in-game and collected by Kimmes the Historian in the Hall of Monuments to purchase GW1 skins if you guys decide to be generous and implement them.

I’m sure that some of your armor art designers would rather just create their own and have their own efforts recognized, and I’m not implying that your armor design team is bad, but GW1 had so many great skins for both weapons and armor. There is a lot of money to be made in what you already have in GW1. Please.

Also, there have been leaks of the ascended armors and what they look like… I (and many others, I’m sure) am not overly impressed. This is, of course, entirely subjective. Parts of the armors look nice, but not so much as a set. Thanks for transmutation crystals, though!

Good, bad, and ugly of Tequatl Rising

I"m sure some of you are familiar with Wooden Potatoes on YouTube. He makes a lot of videos discussing GW2 content and he generally does a great presentation. The link below is to his latest video talking about Tequatl Rising. This is really for ArenaNet. You guys should watch this video and really listen to what he’s saying because the majority of your player base can relate. This update has a lot of good going for it, but also a lot of bad. Take note that no where in the video does he say the content is too difficult. The issues are far more subtle yet potentially devastating. Towards the end he stresses that if you decided to make changes to these boss encounters, don’t decrease the difficulty but rather increase the reward to provide incentive. Then of course there is the issue with the overflows, plus forcing people into a ‘hurry up and wait’ mentality like the archaic ways of raiding in out-dated MMOs. Don’t cater to the fan boys of those old ways too much. Guild Wars 2 is NOT those other games, so don’t try to make it such.

Also, an extra 5 minutes wouldn’t hurt lol

So I’ve been doing some exploring in the new content and I also watched a very interesting video by Wooden Potatoes regarding this new Living Story, and I found myself wondering “Hmmm… maybe, just maybe, they’re on to something good”. My exploration combined with the points brought up by WP have me all giddy.

After months of nothing but seemingly shallow updates that seem to be focused on making a quick buck and didn’t really seem to have anything to do with the game’s core story, I saw a sliver of hope! It’s looking like it is possible that maybe you guys are finally tapping into the actual GW1 lore for these Living Story updates! All I can say is, I REALLY FREAKING HOPE SO!

From here, there is potential for branching into so much! I mean come on, with the references to Glint, the Defenders of Heritage, Primordus, Kralkatorrik, our GW1 characters, plus the hints of some Zephyrites being Canthan and Elonian, there’s a lot to like. I’ve had my disappointments with the direction the game seems to be taking, but if you guys are doing what I hope you are doing, then I can honestly say that you are doing it right! As I’ve mentioned to you guys before in a different format, the game has been missing that GW1 feel that I cannot describe. It’s that Guild Wars feel that we all have come to know and love in GW1. These subtleties that I’ve noticed are like blood in shark-infested waters for me, and probably many others.

ArenaNet, you guys have A LOT you can go off of by simply tapping into everything GW1, and I don’t mean just story. I honestly hope that you guys keep digging into GW1 and bring as much of it back into GW2 as possible. Re-invest more of what you already have in GW1 into GW2. You guys want to be the #1 MMO? You already have the weapons you need. They are in GW1. Oh, and a little more bug polish throughout wouldn’t hurt :P

I’m just saying, the potential is definitely there. The question is, are you going to actually play using your strengths? Or are you going to keep letting Nexon dictate more ‘limited-time-only-must-buy-now’ stuff? I know there really isn’t anything you guys can do about your publisher’s largest shareholder, but I still feel I should voice that concern, because I want you guys and this game to do well.

Also, just a tip for making a quick buck: *cough*GuildWars1weaponandarmorskinsinthegemstore*cough* I guarantee you they will sell well. And DONT make them for a limited time only. That’s just blasphemy, heresy, and every other negative word you can think of.

But I digress, for now I’m going to sit back and see where this goes. Your move, ArenaNet. Make me proud.

Transmuting Legendary = Exotic [Merged]

Yes, you should not transmute Twilight or Sunrise if you plan to make Eternity. Once you have Eternity, you should be able to transmute it just fine while keeping the purple name. Sure, it says ‘transmuted’ instead of ‘legendary’ in the mouse-over, but it’s not like it stops being a legendary weapon. Maybe it does stop being a legendary to Zommy, but who cares what he thinks? He’s a greedy, mean, RNG demon anyway.

Weapon swap sigils still not proccing

So I brought this issue up several months ago, and seeing as the issue is still valid after all these months, I wanted to bring it up to your attention once more. Fortunately I think I may have found the issue. This issue is mostly being brought up for the Sigil of Intelligence, but it’s the same issue for all weapon-swap sigils. It seems that the warrior’s minor trait ‘Fast Hands’, which cuts weapon swap cool down by 5 seconds, is somehow interfering with the sigil. I made a second warrior, one that does not use that minor trait, and so far the sigil has worked normally.

I would also like to note that the sigil worked perfectly fine in the beta and in the first month or so after release, even with “Fast Hands”. Then some update came down and boom, the sigil no longer worked as intended.

Yes, I am aware that weapon swap sigils have internal cool-downs, SoI’s being 9 seconds, but the sigil will sometimes not activate even if I had not swapped to the weapon that has it equipped in a few minutes. In these situations, where I had not used the equipped weapon in several minutes, the sigil is supposed to activate immediately on weapon swap while in combat. It just plain doesn’t, sometimes.

Example 1:
Weapon set 1 has the sigil, weapon 2 does not.
Assuming I’ve been out of combat for at least 5 seconds, I initiate combat with set 1 (sigil not activated because it only activates on weapon swap while in combat). Then switch to weapon set 2. 5 seconds later, I swap back to set 1 and the sigil is supposed to activate, and it doesn’t. Even then, the cool-down for the sigil is done by then, so it’s supposed to trigger.

Example 2:
Assuming I’ve been out of combat for about 10 seconds, I start combat with weapon set 2, then a few seconds later I swap to weapon set 1. At this point the sigil is supposed to activate, but it does not. So I swap back to weapon set 2 five seconds later, then have to wait another 5 seconds before I can swap back to weapon set 1. I swap to weapon set 1 again (at least 10 seconds have elapsed since the first time I swapped to weapon set 1) and once again the sigil does not activate.

Long story short, the sigils only work some of the time while using the Fast Hands trait, regardless of how long I wait before activating them.

Also, the only time the sigil works properly is when attacking static objects like target practice dummies and doors (which are immune to critical hits anyway). The issue only occurs when fighting actual foes.

Adrenaline burst skills not using adrenaline

There have been times when using adrenaline burst skills like Eviscerate or Kill Shot, the adrenaline would not get used up at all. It basically gave me an additional free use of the skill, but would still go on it’s normal cool-down timer. Also, sometimes activating adrenaline skills, regardless of adrenaline level, would cause the skill to immediately go to cool-down without actually attacking. This does not occur all the time, fortunately. It’s just another one of those randomly occurring things.

Hundred blades animation interrupted

I really only noticed this issue on my Charr, but at random times when I use the skill Hundred Blades, the animation is completely stopped when I take damage. My character ends up just standing there while the damage is dealt. The occurrence is very erratic, and I am unable to determine if it’s only certain enemies or attacks that cause this animation bug.

Stuck in 'Rush' animation

More often than not, whenever I used the skill ‘Rush’, number 5 on greatsword for warrior, my character will get stuck in the running animation and run in place when I reach my target. When this happens, the attack portion of the skill never occurs. The character just rushes to the enemy, and then runs in place for the duration of the skill upon getting in attack range. This usually happens when targeting large creatures like oakhearts, undead risen giants, and of course meta event bosses like the Shatterer and Shadow Behemoth. Also it always seems to happen when targeting static objects like doors, turrets, ballista, carts, and supplies.

Water fractal Krait in cave ceiling

For several months now, during the first part of the underwater fractal where players are supposed to free some prisoners from cages, some of the Krait that have to be defeated to continue will swim up into the ceiling and stay up there, making it impossible to kill them at range. The only way to damage them is to scrape the ceiling as melee. They cannot be pulled back out and they do not come back out on their own. This become apparent when players try to open a cage to free a prisoner, but the cage cannot be opened until all of the Krait guarding the cage are defeated. This has the potential to completely block progress through that fractal.

Crucible of Eternity: Golem boss with turrets

The golem boss in Crucible of Eternity that uses turrets for buff itself up can be bugged by entering the room without triggering the turrets to come online. I don’t know how it’s done, but there’s a way for a mesmer to go into the room without triggering the turrets, and then they just portal the rest of the party inside. The end result is a super-easy boss fight. The turrets are supposed to be activated automatically when a player enters the room through the normal doorway. What players do is burn down the boss really fast, then activate the turrets in the last second so as not to ‘break’ the instance so they can continue. I do not have a screenshot at the moment, but I will add one at a later time.

Randomly stuck in 'pick up' animation

Sometimes when I pick up an item off the ground, my character get’s stuck in a ‘pick up’ animation loop. The item is picked up properly after the first animation, but the loop just continues over and over, as if I’m picking up an infinite number of things. The animation loop can be stopped by moving and game play continues just fine, fortunately.

'buy' button greys out on Trading Post

I’m sure this has been brought up before, as someone in game was able to promptly tell me to restart my client to fix it, but I was unable to find a thread for it. Anyway, sometimes the ‘buy’ button on the trading post is greyed out, and only a full client restart will fix it. I have no idea what causes it, and I cannot tell you how to replicate the issue. It just happens randomly.

Volatile blossoms show no health loss

I was doing a run of Twilight Arbor recently, and I noticed that the volatile blossoms showed no health loss when taking damage, nor did they disappear when destroyed. Fortunately they still can be destroyed. Also, they can still be targeted after being destroyed, and continuing to attack them gives a ‘miss’ notification. Obviously this isn’t a game breaking issue, but I wanted to bring it to your attention.

You two clearly missed the point of my post. It’s not that I am having a hard time playing in Fractals, it’s that the drop rate for the vials/globs/shards is horrible, and those items are required for some infusions, without which I will be perpetually stuck in the lower level fractals.

Ascended rings do not come with Agony resistance by default, you have to infuse them to get any AR at all. So I only have 10 AR, not 15. And it’s not that I need 45 AR for 10-19, it’s that eventually there will be a need for me to have that much AR, but I cannot get that much AR to progress without those darn vials/globs/shards.

Yes, I’m aware that until they add more recipes to infuse the rest of the ascended equipment, the mist stuff doesn’t have much use. You’ve been fortunate enough to get so many of those to drop for you. I have gotten NONE in over a month. THAT is the issue I’m presenting. Please fully understand the issue I’m presenting before you post a reply, you’ve been no help so far

So I’ve been trying to get my equipment infused, but it has proven impossible. I have not gotten a single drop of ANY mist essence items in over a month. No vials, no globs, and I haven’t even tried to go to the higher fractal areas for shards because of my very low Agony Resistance. It took me about 4 months to get enough mist essence to to make globs and a shard to infuse ONE ring. That is all I have, one infused ring. The rest of my ascended equipment were not drops. I had to buy them with relics and laurels. I’m currently at fractal lvl 20, and have been staying in the 10s just so I’m not destroyed by Agony. I gotta tell you guys, doing fractals over and over and having next to nothing to show for it is horrible. Your game’s RNG is sadistic.

I hereby offer the suggestion to make it so that players can purchase vials, globs, and shards with relics, or even pristine relics, or ectos, or obby shards, or any combination thereof, because over a month without anything dropping is far too cruel. Or even make a mystic forge recipe to make mist essence from scratch. At least there is a sure way to get ectos and obby shards and relics, and if I put that much time and effort into something, I think I deserve to be able to purchase or make what I need. It’s like going to work and not getting paid, or getting pain in a dead currency.

I don’t expect to get sympathy or free vials mailed to me, I simply ask that you make it so that there is a guaranteed way to get these things, because with RNG some people will NEVER get what they want/need no matter how many times they try.

Triple Damage Sweet Spot against Claw

Some of you may or may not have been aware of this, so I’m just sharing it because it’s so much fun. Ever notice how large creatures like Claw of Jormag have 3 different crosshairs you can target? One on the head, and one on each front foot/paw/claw whatever. If you stand in a certain sweet spot as melee, you can hit all three at once and triple your damage output against it. In the screenshot I provided I did just under 43k damage with Hundred Blades. I have not been able to pull this off against Shatterer or Tequila, but they might have a sweet spot, too. As I said, I’m only sharing this because it’s fun! Enjoy.

As a matter of fact, I am using a a sigil of rage along side of sigil of intelligence. That sigil has it’s own internal cooldown. I don’t understand how that would affect the SoI’s internal cooldown, as the sigil works perfectly fine as intended against the practice dummies in LA, triggering every time I swap to the weapon that has it while in combat (every 10 seconds I can swap back to that weapon).

Partial daily reset after character swap

I just submitted an in-game bug report, but I wanted to make a post here as well. I just finished my dailies on my main not even an hour ago, and when I switched characters, my dailies partially reset. The dailies showing up for me are also different from what they should be. Today’s dailies (February 4th UTC) had aquatic slayer as an option, but on my daily tracker, aquatic slayer isn’t even on the list. On top of that, they also do not progress, but I guess that’s a good thing so it can’t be exploited to get credit for 2 dailies in one day. Logging out, switching characters, and closing/restarting the client does not fix the issue.

Anyone else have this issue?

Liuli, thanks for that, I did not know about that 2-second cooldown.

Now, if we could just figure out why Sigil of Intelligence randomly fails to trigger for no reason. It’s not bleeds, and I even tried not swapping out of the weapon with SoI until sometime after 9 seconds because I thought that maybe the sigil needed to be in an actively equipped weapon to let the timer run down. That theory, however, get’s debunked by my test with the dummies. I was swapping weapons every 5 seconds during that test, meaning I would only have the weapon with SoI actively equipped for 5 seconds at a time and the sigil still worked 100% of the time. I also found that SoI does have an global internal cooldown of at least 9 seconds because I tried using an SoI on two different weapon sets. Since I can swap weapons every 5 seconds, I was only able to get the sigil to work on one weapon but not the other.

So it appears that, indeed, SoI just randomly fails to work on targets that aren’t static objects like dummies/structures. I imagine Sigil of Doom will do the same thing, but I have not tested it as extensively as SoI.

Thanks for the input so far, guys. I really want to find out what’s causing this sigil to fail so I can avoid doing whatever it is that is causing it to fail. I’ll post more if I find anything else, as I will continue testing the Sigil of Intelligence.

Edit: Sigil of Intelligence should not work against the test dummies in LA at all. They are objects which means they are immune to both crits and conditions. I don’t have a Sigil of Intelligence to test on them I’ve tested them using both a thief with 70% crit and an elementalist using Arcane Power(next 5 hits will crit).

The Sigil of Intelligence does not make it so you crit against static objects, but you still get the ‘buff’ icon that says your next attack is critical. I guess I should have clarified my post on my test with the dummies. The buff is applied to the user, but the crit does not actually occur on test dummies, as it shouldn’t, but the buff is still used up Sorry for the confusion. And thank you very much for sharing the link to the post, I appreciate it.

And to Oldbugga, yes, the application of the sigil’s effects are definitely random most of the time. Once in a while, the sigil works as intended, though. I just wish the devs could resolve the issue. I know they have a lot on their plate, but I do hope they will focus more on fixing the current bugs, regardless of how minor they are, before they press on with new content. I fear it will just keep adding more and more bugs. When I saw Sigil of Intelligence mentioned in the update notes, I gotsuper excited. However, as I played I noticed the issue remained. It’s a sad time to be a user of these sigils

Thanks for the clarification on that, I was really confused. Could you possibly provide a link to the post? I’d like to read up on it. I’ve been doing further tests with the sigil of intelligence and here is what I found:

  • Against the target dummies in Lions Arch, the sigil activates every time on weapon swap to it as it should. Every 10 seconds (5 seconds between each weapon swap as only one of my weapons has the sigil). 10 for 10.
  • Against normal fleshy enemies, it doesn’t trigger every time as it should. For a while there I thought that my bleeds somehow used up the crit as soon as I swapped to the weapon, but I soon debunked this theory when I swapped my traits around so I caused no bleeds or DoTs of any sort and found that the Sigil of Intelligence still just plain fails to activate at random times.

So Sigil of Intelligence has an internal cooldown? I’m guessing it’s a 9 second cooldown.

However, now with this new update that just came through, the update notes said the following about Sigil of Intelligence:

  • Sigil of Intelligence: The number of uses on this skill’s effect will now decrease if an attack lands or if the attack is negated by Blind, Block, Evade, Obstructed, or Invulnerable.

What in the world does that even mean? I’m very confused. Does this mean that every attack causes Sigil of Intelligence’s effect to becomes less and less useful until it is entirely useless? Could we possibly get some clarification on the changes for these sigils? That update note is very badly worded.

I don’t get on these forums often, so I do not recall if I posted this once before or not. I searched for Sigil of Intelligence/hydromancy/geomancy and the forum search yielded nothing regarding the isse.

Anyway, through my own testing and playing, I’ve noticed that sigils who’s effects trigger on weapon swap do not always trigger. Other players have also confirmed having the same issue with their weapon-swap sigils. I might go as far as saying over half the time they do not trigger. I’ve tested this with the following sigils:

  • Intelligence
  • Doom
  • Hydromancy
  • Geomancy
  • Pyromancy

Despite their varied effects, they all have the same issue: they don’t always trigger on weapon swap as the description states. These sigils state that their effects trigger ‘when you swap to this weapon while in combat’. My play style uses Sigil of Intelligence primarily, as I run a crit heavy build with heavy use of weapon swapping.

Sigil of Intelligence and Doom create a little ‘buff’ icon on the player that states “Your next attack is critical/inflicts poison”. Hydromancy/geomancy/pyromancy have a very noticeable AoE skill effect on the occasion they do trigger. The icons/AoE effects are non-mistakable, so you KNOW when they trigger. The sigils used to work fine during the beta, but for some reason after release they haven’t been working like they once had. I already submitted an in-game bug report on this a while back, but I thought it was about time to make a forum post as well.

Either the sigils bug out randomly, or these sigils’ effects have an undisclosed internal cool down. So my question is: Do these sigils have an internal cool down that is not stated anywhere? If so, please add the cool down timer to the sigil’s description. If not, then please take a look at the weapon swap sigils and what is causing them to only sometimes trigger. My sigil of choice is a vital part of my play style, as I try to use precise crits to be as effective as I can.
