Hidden killer its self wasn’t changed. You get 100% crit chance when attacking from stealth.
If I understand the patch notes on C&D and hidden killer. If you were C&D while stealth it was not effected by hidden killer and you were not granted 100% crit chance. Now if you are stealth (traited with hidden killer) and C&D some one, it will crit 100% of the time. Not sure why you would C&D out of stealth but I think it was more of a bug fix.

That might be the case in most cases but not with WM. There was much love between BG and WM when they were on Kain. They are a great guild to fight and to run with. It would have been a pleasure to fight WM again if they didn’t pick BG as there new home. That said, Its also to a pleasure to have them in Blackgate. Much love to WM!
So what you’re saying is that because thieves have a hard time against one other profession that that profession, which has a difficult time against all the other professions, is even more OP than thieves….

I think you missed the point. I was pointing out 2 classes that have builds that counter my build. That doesn’t mean its only limited to those 2 classes or those 2 builds. I’ll try to explain this again slowly for you…For me…a thief…lacking in condition removal…a class…any class…with heavy condition damage…will seem “OP” to me. I’m not saying they are over powered and need a nerf. I’m saying that I have built my thief for a different reason and in doing so I’m susceptible condition damage. This doesn’t make condition damage over powered.
If you chose to build your character with out condition removal, stun breaks, X amount of toughness or Vit your going to be countered by different builds and classes.
Personally I think it has more to do with how you pull the camp then your build. In the NE camp (north of Hills) if stand in the back hut with the log piles, you can shoot one enemy and they will all be LOS right to you. At that point cluster bomb/dagger storm should clear out all the vets then clean up the claimer. Quick and easy. The only camp that doesn’t have a spot like this is the north camp (as far as I’m aware)

My bet is it’s because they’re working out the details on adding another gated currency type for WvW. Currently, Ascended items are time gated with limits on fractals, guild missions and laurels, which is obviously intended to stretch out how fast players can obtain these items for each character.
Badges of Honor have no time restriction. As long as there is a player to kill in WvW there is a badge to obtain. So, they can’t just drop Ascended items on a vendor that costs badges, unless they set the cost ridiculously high, which might not matter for many players who are sitting on thousands of badges but at the same time would hurt new WvW players. I don’t see them going this route.
My take on things anyways for what it’s worth.
Assuming your right and they did add a new currency, I would hope they think it out very carefully. If it is something farmable in WvW the meta would change once again to cater to that and might not be best for WvW. I have faith they will do what they think is best for this issue, I was just hoping to sneak a little bit of info out of Devon :-)
And therefor have nothing to spend badges on again? What’s the point of badges except to equip out ATLs and buy cheapo skins?
My guess would be it would cost a number of things like X badges X gold X what ever currency. Like what they have done with the current WvW gear.
I think its also a way to help with siege griefing. If you take a enemy keep and it has 10 rams sitting around, most the time no one will kill them. This will give more incentive to destroy unneeded siege.

C&D won’t stack stealth. But as for the Hidden killer effect, it would depend on where you get stealth in the attack. Is it before the damage or after? I honestly can’t remember if it 100% crit before or not. Then again the only time I hit C&D while stealth is if I messed up the timing on it.
Its all to perspective. For me Confusion Mesmers (pre this patch, we’ll see if this is still true) were the only Mesmer build that would destroy me. Any other Mesmer would have no chance. So to other builds me (or thieves) would be “OP” but to Confusion base Mesmers I (or thieves) are a joke.
It comes down to how you build your self, my build lacks condition removal so Necros are “OP” to me but that’s not the classes fault, its mine for building the way I do. If you have under 1400 toughness and what to know why thieves hit you so hard and seem “OP” because you have 1400 toughness.
Plus, I don’t know about other thief players but if I hit a guy/girl for 6k+ backstab, I’m going to focus you because your soft. People want every build and every class to be balanced and that is only going to build a stagnant PvP system.
We wouldn’t be thieves if we didn’t steal it :-)
Just to clarify, there is now no way to block siege projectiles?
Sorry but people that want uncapped AoE are kitten. This is whats going to happen, Necros and Eles are going to AoE full groups of 40+ people and down them all. Any CC AoE will end any group of people. Its not only going to hurt zergs…Next thing to happen will be everyone posting “nerf marks” or “nerf dragon tooth” then Anet will be forced to nerf AoE damage to make up for being able to hit everyone. Now that its nerfed its only going to be useful if your hitting 10+ people.
Uncapping AoE limits is to extreme of a change and shouldn’t be done. If anything they should reevaluate skills have them have different AoE caps. For example: Necro wells or marks get boosted to 10 (with or with out a trait either way, would make sense to have this in a trait line) Though Shadow refuge for thieves should stay a 5.
I agree that the JP should not effect the queue for WvW, not sure how they would do that though. Side not EBJP is probably my favorite over all jumping puzzle. Some of the best duels and small group fights I’v ever had were in the JP.

We apparently need a class on how the glicko system works.
It is very unlikely that DB would make its way into T1 unless something drastic occurs within the T1 servers themselves.
At one point, 5 weeks ago some speculated that KN would replace a particular T1 tier server, but that to never happened.
It seems JQ, BG and SoR are destined as tri-party couples in never ending “chest-thumping” and kitten stroking.
This happens every week. A few weeks ago people said BG would drop for TC, now its SoR for DB. I’ll assume at this point its a attempt to troll, its quite obvious were stuck with each other for a while.
I think where they messed up and are trying to fix is they implemented the the change in the first place. As a issue in WvW they should have let the 3s revealed play out with the culling fix. From there see if any further action was needed.
The difference in skills between sPvP and WvW/PvE is a good idea but I don’t think the cast times/CD’s is where they should be changed. The difference in mechanics will make it weird to jump from the two game modes. Though stealth is a hard one as you can’t really nerf its effectiveness without adjusting the times. I think reverting stealth to 3s all around would have been better, then adding the revealed buff after leaving stealth (regardless of attacking or not) in sPvP. If it works out well put it in WvW and PvE.
Meh overall I don’t think its good for the player base when the devs make changes thinking “it should work out better…i think”
I run a build that doesn’t use any traits for steal and in a fight I more or less use it on CD. If your in a group fight and fight a Mesmer…why would you not want to steal all those boons? Eles, a 10 second chill? or a guardian, a 4 second daze? A free extra stealth from thieves or Whirling Axe from warriors…the skill is amazing…
My biggest problem is stealing a skill that I like then killing the person with out using it. Now I want to save it for the next guy and I’m stuck with no steal :-(

Ouch! SoR making that come back! Looks like its going to be a close one! I was hoping Bg was going to be able to sneak back into blue this week. Nice job SoR for putting a stop on that!
Personally its because they are not a good class to let them sit there and freely attack. Most rangers in WvW are going to focus on range rather then melee so putting pressure on them will force them to play more defensive. It’s normally a lot easier for a thief if the enemy is consistently trying to retreat and rangers more known for it. Also letting a ranger sit there and pound on you while you attack someone else is going to end up badly for you.
I doubt this is report worthy, at least to anet but I would suggest to tell everyone to join on X commanders squad so they don’t see Y commander.
You should delete this post. Anet made it clear they want it to be for independent character progression. Also non of the upgrades give you a over whelming advantage.
You should remake your post requesting to have a rank point respec! This is a much better idea! people will work hard for these ranks and should be able to respec them for a cost.
Hi Angus, If your just trying to play with the number with out spending gold to test it out try http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/ You can build everything you want and it gives a good read out of all the stats you’ll get with the gear and traits you put in.
I felt the same, after the culling fix/stealth nerf I tried very hard to keep the same D/D build I was using. While its still viable, it just much harder to do well and left very little room for error.
Several weeks it is Sir! But with the way our match is going I don’t think either server will slack off enough to let that happen.
Sorry I wasn’t really clear in my point. I don’t think it would need a server to “implode” for one of us to drop down, just be lazy for a few weeks. (If TC is able to keep up what they are doing) But I’m sure we both can agree, I doubt either server will slack off enough to let that happen.
People still don’t understand the ranking system.
He has also clearly been on JQ too long to understand the huge coverage jump that is T2 to T1. In our current bloated T1 if any server from T1 was to somehow get dropped down into t2, they would blow t2 out of the water and be back in t1 the next week.
The only way a T1 server would get dropped out of T1 for good would be if they imploded.
I don’t know about that, TC is looking pretty good this week. If they keep it up and either BG or SoR slack off enough they could jump up for a week. But considering what SoR or BG would do in T2 I don’t think it would last long.
Culling Fixed = Less Thieves. Respect to the ones who still make it work.
This won’t really get any sympathy. I could live with no thieves at all until the profession is balanced. Instakilling and perma stealth is something I could live without entirely.
If only thieves had either of those (or didn’t suffer insane disadvantages for taking one or the other).
Yes, there should be insane disadvantages for being able to insta kill people or in combat stealth over and over with little to no real cooldown. The profession is completely broken right now, so yeh I am fine with no one playing them.
1. We can’t “instakill” anybody. As a thief that primarily plays “bunker” or “balanced” thieves, I’ve run up against glass cannon noobs plenty of times before. Simply stun break, stealth, heal, and mince them up if you’re like me, because GC thieves have such little defense. Of course, not everybody can stealth, but they also tend to have more healing and defense than thieves do anyways, so as long as they can stunbreak and roll away quickly from an initial attack by a GC/“instakill” thief, then you’re golden. You should have no issues slicing the thief to pieces.
2. Revealed. We can’t attack from stealth without getting it, and it lasts long enough to get in a lot of attacks on a thief; often times, more than half of their health or more can be depleted while a thief is revealed. We don’t have a lot of ways to access stealth; our only utilities for getting it are HiS, BP, and SR. All have long cooldowns on them, or long enough that they can’t really be abused. BP, also, really only comes with a blind and a stealth, and that’s it, so even that isn’t that great. As for attacks, it’s very difficult to maintain stealth simply via our attacks and combos. CnD is easily avoidable, has only a very short stealth, does little damage, and very little else outside of that. It also uses up 50% of our base initiative (40% if you have Trickery 15). The combo with D/P is also very costly, and somewhat inefficient.
The point is that the first of these two “problems” comes with virtually no defense, and the second with virtually no offense.

Wait till boonhate next patch where steal will steal all your boons and makes it so you can’t reboon for 10 seconds. then add Mug that now does +2% damage per boon stolen.

Travlane, If your trying to do it by your self, yes you would have to spec for it I guess but in the OP he states a group. So if thats the case 3 thieves could use smoke screen and short bow and rotate. 2 thieves could do it if they trait Master of Deception.
Also I might be a bias because I’m a bit of a Yisish fan boy but his 1vgroups and zerg surfing does more then you think. Where its not game changing, if 1 thief is keeping 3+ people from doing anything useful for long amounts of time, hes helping his server. Being able to survive in a zerg is also helpful because your able to add confusion with in the zerg. If they are on the move you’ll easily stop 3-5 of them to try and kill you, thus stringing out the zerg a bit. Like I said its not game changing and won’t win the match for you, but its not for nothing.
That may be so, I haven’t tried this in a long! time. My post was what a thief friend and I used to do quite a few months back so I could have been changed. Unless less some one wants to give it a quick test, I’ll do it when I get home.
A group? Endless if timed well enough. I think Stealth caps at 13 seconds (could be 14s don’t quite remember) So if thief #1 drops his smoke field and cluster bombs to the cap time, then are 2-3s left thief #2 repeats. Realistically you could stay stay this way with 2 thieves but adding in #3 and #4 thief would make this very easy.
A well organized 3 thief group could really never leave stealth. Though your speed while running around would be very limited as you have to stop and restack stealth every 10 or so second.

I would think a havoc squad would be more defined by the duty’s then its size. Though size would matter. Personally I wouldn’t consider 5 people running around looking for fights a Havoc squad rather 5 to 15 people running camp to camp, harassing the enemy zerg, killing yaks, and other wise doing the dirty work that needs to be done.
To be honest, I’m quite surprised TC and Kain (I don’t know much about FA) don’t have havoc squads running about. I remember quite a bit of fun with their small groups when we faced them. Then again it was pre WXP.

Tis true, I know JQ and SoR have known havoc squad group/guilds and I rarely run into them (probably better for my repair bill >.<) but there are still quite a few others out there.

Chasan, you’ll get a lot of different answers for this question but for me its just a different beast. I find WvW to have more freedom to go about and do what I want and I’m not limited to 15 minute organized fights. I tend to find more people across the skill spectrum from “newb” to “pro” and I have Incinerator so I like looking at my footsteps lol

But same with zergs a guild group with normally win over a “pug” group because they practice or work better together.
There are no 5 man groups around except for us when we play. It’s the current reality in T2.

My post wasn’t to debate his request, rather I support it but I was only interested in why he thought this was needed. Being on Blackgate in T1 all 3 of our servers zerg but I have had no issues finding the small fights I have been looking for. Yes it has been less often then pre WXP and I do run into zergs but see it being a huge issue. From my perspective NA T1 WvW is a great mix of everything right now. I can be a zergling and follow the commander or I can roam in a group or solo and still be effective and/or have fun.

A little off topic but not completely – what do you think about trying to use SB in a more support type build, especially for the spammable blast finisher
Its the only reason I use a short bow now a days. Don’t get me wrong I’m not knocking the short bow at all, things amazing. I just don’t have it as a second weapon. But it by far has the best blast finisher in the game.
