it is pretty easy to use your movement skills to get out of combat for a second …. tera does the same thing and it is a total circus

note some classes will be much better at this than others

if you can get out of combat with your mobilities and utilities away from the enemy it just means you would have escaped and run away anyway so mounts wont make a difference in it especialy when your enemy also can mount up so its back to being fair lol…..

Thiefs for example can dodge roll teleport accross half the zone away from you if he wants to anytime….

do I want mounts in wvw … no not really !— combat will become kind of lame like tera where people will hop on a mount and constantly run from u till there cool downs are done and it just becomes a game of hopping on your mount fight run hop on your mount again and so on

but judging by the size of the newer red boarder land I think we will see mounts in wvw

they may change green and blue border maps to there own unique zones that will be equally large

you cant mount until your not fully out of combat…. sooo thats not how it will work….

how to troll and kill a scourge…

Avoid shades dance arround them while jumping in on the necro for insane burst…

GZ its has the same weakness that Power Reapers have… just stay away from the stationary Shades and kill the necro lol

Doesnt matter if you avoid the shades or not the F skills all read “You and your shades”. Ranged abilities would be the only true way to avoid being hit by any of the shade mechanic.

well good players nonstop jump in and out for burst to kill a necro so……. you Arround your abilities wont help when the enemy is only in your face for a sec to instantly take down like 70% of your HP….. as i said the same issue Power reaper has….

the only difference is that you will have some group utility atleast….
and most of your DMG is condi so atleast if you can hit them just a few times you allready doing SOME dmg …..

The people who don’t like HoT, who insist this is true are not the majority they think they are. Changing the game at this point will only annoy people who are enjoying it. You’re not going to make HoT a vacation destination for people who don’t enjoy it, without destroying it for people who do

At the end of the day if 50% of the playerbase doesn’t like HoT (and I don’t think it’s as high as that to be honest), then 50% of the playbase does and you make those changes at your own peril.

If PoF is going to be easier to beat and play, more like the demo we saw, I’m going to end up going back to HoT once I beat that content, because I prefer more complex 3D maps better…and I still have legendary weapons I want to work on.

I don’t believe this vast exodus is going to happen, or rather, it obviously will for a month or two or three, and some of us are going to find ourselves missing HoT.

A lot of people often accuse me of defending the game, but both PoF and HoT are parts of this game, and from a first look, HoT is the one I so far prefer. I’m not so sure that changing HoT to make it better for people who prefer PoF is going to not cause the problem if losing the people who like HoT. I still don’t think people who don’t like it are going to return to it.

And I’m pretty sure Anet isn’t going to throw a ton of money at HoT, because new content is probably going to be more effective than revamping old content

No, Power Reaper has never been “great.”

That’s what I thought… From my point of view it doesn’t seem that the power reaper lost any damage since HoT release, just that player found that it worked better as a condi spec on the long run.

So is the title asking for a nerf on condi so that players feel forced to play power? That’s sad. That mean there will be no improvement, only the nerf on the barely ok condi spec in PvE. For what? More power damage would mean nothing in PvP where ennemies have health pools that gravedigger can already eat pretty easily. In PvE even with damages at the same level than a power DPS, the reaper would still struggle to find a place because it has virtually no support that improve the raid as a whole.

What kind of people will stand there and let you hit them with a gravedigger ????
or any other ultra slow channeled Reaper ability ?
and if they are out of dodges and mobility abilities because the planets alligned for you to unleash your reaper might ? well… immune immune immune immune block block block block and now your dead…..

you don’t pvp much do you ?
and for PvE it needs dmg buffs everyone and their grandmother have better DPS….
its not the nonexistent group utility that players dont want a Power reaper…
it because Power reapers dps is horrible compared to like half the other classes out there….

Power boonstrip has been working fine for several seasons. Your main weapon should be axe and the greatsword should be utility. You don’t grave digger moving targets, you use it after gs5 to bait a dodge or you use it for downed cleave.

Making power reaper great is one thing but that still requires you to know how to use the right skills. You don’t see anyone complaining staff doesn’t dps hard enough.

it only works if your baby sited by other classes….. there are no right skills as a power reaper…. Shroud skills ? everyone avoids them GS skills ? good luck hitting with them… the only good thing is Axe 2 after that auto attack with it and GZ thats all you can do againts like half the classes….

also good luck baiting Dodges when some classes have like 24356 dodges and 143451 mobility and escapes and Invis spams outside of that….

also lets say your fighting a bad player and you used the ONLY skill that can pull them… BAM you baited the dodge GZ now how you gonna get them to melee range ? oh yeah shroud gapcloser… na he Teleported/Dodgespammed/Invised farer away from you the momment you used it…

Now you have left with 0 ways to gapclose….. and he will just tear you down from range while laughing at you

or jump in and out with insane burst that takes down majority of your HP everytime he does it…

I don’t even know what you are saying anymore. Are you suggesting the power reaper should just lock down all counterplay? If someone wanted to get out of range of your melee, why wouldn’t they teleport away? You have TWO weapon sets, you can use axe for ranged power damage. Just because you choose to camp GS doesn’t mean its the right thing to do.

Every other melee class has the same problem, if you waste your gap closer, you’re going to have problems against range. Why is this not obvious?

Axe alone as a power build is not enough to do any significant dmg to people….
Power Reaper as a whole needs more mobility to be viable at all…

and no Mesmers and Thiefs and eles dont have these issues they have enough utilit and tools and mobility to stay on your face all day if they want with insane burst dmg…

as a power necro the momment you go Shroud people just stay away from you and Eat it down with weak secondary ranged ability then go back for the burst when it goes off or you turn it off after you found out you cant even hit them while they running arround you so you go back to axe spam but the momment you do this they will instantly jump back in your face with Better Dmg and Burst then you and melt you in seconds…

the Life of a Power necro in a nutshell…
forever useless without help….

a Power build Needs either RANGE or MOBILITY….. Reaper has NON of them….

the only class Power Reapers are good againts are Guardians for example….. because they also are not bloated with crazy mobility but atleast they have crazy Utilities like block and immunities.. ALLOT of it….. and a capcloser that INSTANTLY take you to the enemy….

im nowdays slowly going back to the original Shroud as a power build and ditching reaper…. and i can Allready feel the dmg difference in PvP thx to RANGE dmg in Shroud… but then i have like almost 0 Aoe if i go dagger/Axe so it feels meh…. but plays better in spvp

Power necro is just a badly designed class as a whole…
it lacks TOO much of the tools that makes Power builds viable….

Magic find does not worth anything…

there was a video Potatoe Made not long ago about it

he stacked a BUNCH of stuff to get his magic find to arround 800-900….. then oppened a BUNCH of chests and bags and also done some stuff and events…

and there was no visible change in the loot at all….

that stat is the most useless stat in the game right now…

Ive often said that they should add a conveyor belt or people mover to wvw because of the long run times, from getting from point A to point B, mounts would solve that. Though not as cool as a conveyor belt.

Change Tagging Mechanics

The wxp gain from killing enemy players scales depending on the length of time that individual has been alive; so an enemy that dies repeatedly will be worth 1-2 wxp and one that dies less frequently can be worth up to 60.

i sometimes get 200+ Wxp for some kills <.<

Vitality vs Toughnes

I know toughness agro in pve is a thing because I duo the story with a friend who is running clerics gear, I’m running marauders and all the mobs go strait for him and I have to work to keep them off him. also think of vitality vs. toughness like this… conditions ignore toughness completely but vitality gives more health for the condies AND direct damage to eat through. I use to think the same as you do, toughness > vitality, but playing the game for over 4 years i’ve learned the value of vitality over toughness. even my friend after 3 years wants to reduce his toughness in exchange for vitality. don’t get me wrong I still run toughness on my necro but I run much more vitality.

Hm, interesting. I always solo my story missions so I didn’t know about that. But I’ve been playing since beta and I prefer Toughness. I would never switch. I only use Vitality on professions with low HP. But hey, everyone’s different, if you like Vitality then have fun with it! One of the best things about this game is the stat freedom.

The problem isn’t necros high base hp, the problem is necro’s main defensive mechanic scales with vitatility. Which mean vitality will ALWAYS be slight more beneficial to a necro.

The “only using vitality on low hp classes” scthik is thrown out the window when a classes main mechanic scales with vitality.

okay so i finished my build

everything people talk about in here is false atleast most of it….

i was running high vitality builds on my Necro for years now…
since the shroud changes i thrown the soul reaping trait line into the trash and picked up Death magic….. also removed all the vitality from my gear and exchanged it to Toughness…

and HOLY HELL its waaaaaaaaaay better tankier….. i have 20k HP instead of 30k but i sure as hell can take waaaaaaaaay more.. both in shroud and outside of it…
I can actualy somewhat survive thiefs multiple openings before they take me down….

compared to the 30k HP they literaly instantly chewed through before….
same with facetanking Bosses and mechanics etc…..

For Necro toughness is just Better then vitality…..
what people forget is that toughness also douple tips from shroud just like Vitality just in a different way……

im never going back to vitality except if they add some realy strong extra something to Shroud and vitality…

i prefer if they would fix Power reaper instead of making his Only true Power weapon into a condi weapon like what they bassicaly did to GS sadly lol

supposedly Deathly Chill is slated to deal direct damage with Chill applications instead of applying Bleed… which would turn Reaper into a pure Power spec…

i Believe when i see it…. the last Balance patch was nothing else then a Nerf on Power builds and a Buff to Condi builds for Necro….

at this point i don’t believe anything they say when it comes to balancing changes…

BUT this game will be up for a looooong time…

1 : art style is just pure win even in the long run

2 : Devs nonstop adding more and more NEW mechanics and additions and they aren’t affraid to totaly REMAKE anything when it gets realy outdated they alrleady did with allot of the stuff in the game.

You will burn out faster then the game dies devs make sure of that.

if the devs under the years keep adding more new mechanics and additions nonstop this game will have a LOOONG lifespan…

Vannila shroud in my opinion is Superior in PvP

Why you ask ?

well the momment you go into reaper shroud people will just use their infinite ammount of mobility againts you and stay away from you and range your Shroud down and after that you done for and you barely did any dmg….

you barely gonna hit any decent player in PvP as a reaper seriously….

just removed the elite spec to try out my old power necro and HOLY hell its a Huge difference in PvP i actualy can keep dmg ing people while they try to stay away WoW…..

but sadly i love GS too much x.x

go condi or go home the only weapon you should not use in a condi build is Axe….. just be condi…..

power is not viable either in PvP or PvE….. if your not baby sitted by an ele for example

everyone can just stay away from you and dance you arround while your only single defense gets drained down while you dont hit anyone as Power then they literaly will insta blow you up….. thx to not having mobility as a power build lol

Non condi raid builds pls

I was in a raid and i was dealing like 15-20k dmg because group kept adding vulnerabilities and i got buffed and i got even more vulnerabilities thanks to the axe.

15-20k Damage is really low for a dps build, even for power necro. Power necro can get close to about 24-25k (maybe a bit more), which still isn’t good for a dps build. That is under some support specs.

a soppurt spec wont gonna hit 25k+ dmg with a single ability stop overexagarating….
if it does he is not a Support…..

also on a somewhat tanky Power build Necro with a single ability can do 25k dmg…
hell im sitting in 3000 armor and my axe skill 2 alone did 30k dmg in 1 go lol reaper abilities do 16k to 20k
as a FULL DPS build those dmg would be like 30% higer

still not worth it you know why ? because we have no worthwile group utility….

also all those 20k-30k dmg comes froum CHANNELED ABILITIES while some of the other classes can do that dmg or close to that dmg with INSTANT ones…… looks at Mesmer and thief and ele and almost everyone……….

State of Power Reaper

Just to add to my original post, power reaper is now out-performed in pve by a power mesmer. MESMER! A class that was known for sub-optimal dps due to the amount of utilities it gave to the group. And they just spam 2 buttons to out dps us.

same with thiefs…

seriously Power necro cant do anything againts this 2 classes…

they have better utility
better dmg
better burst dmg
better mobility

why we even have Reaper at this point ???

PvP like WvW and Spvp have their OWN Updates… So expansion dont bring anything new to these parts of the game outside of the new classes…

WvW and spvp updates changes happens separately so after they expansion launched later we will get new updates and stuff for pvp and wvw

ALSO changes like changing the landescape allready happening in wvw

as i said these changes are 100% separate

Here’s my two cents, we as players will not get mounts, but all the ambient creatures and stags will get mounts.

on a serious note they dont seem THAT mutch faster i dont think they would break anything if they would be implemented…

only the mount abilities need to be dissabled tough….. like the Leaps etc etc….

it would only bring positive stuff like the removing of the Swiftness and passive movement speed addiction….

im sick of the Swiftness spam… and the too mutch reliance of movement speed stuff like runes or traits….

I practically never used that trait and could give less of a kitten about it. I’ve never even really used soul reaping much after like 2014 as I find the whole line to be lacklustre. Any time I have ran soul reaping I never even noticed vital persistence. In WvW/PvP that trait was never needed in any scenario.

Axe is actually a good power weapon nowadays, but you can’t go power necro because you need power/precision/ferocity and then you die instantly because you are a necro.

LOL just loooooooool……..

think about what you just said here….

so you bassicaly never play Power only the meta condi… OFCOURSE you wont need soulreaping traitline then…..

then you cry that you dont play power because surv….. of course you have issues with power when you never take Soulreaping… it was the CORE trait line for most Power necro builds…… thats where most of Powers Surv came from…….

but now its nerfed and sucks so hard its pointless to take the entire traitline……..

both Blood and Death magic gives waaay more surv now….

the condition dmg is ridiculous… im seeing freaken 8k bleed ticks….. and thats just the bleed…. add the poisions + burn to it and BAM broken dmg every Second lol

to beat condi builds we would need to be able to do like 12k+ hit crits everysec with most of our abilities… nonstop 100% of the times..

that just simply wont gonna happen..

condi dmg needs a nerf

or ad it passively…. one of the best part of power reaper is jumping in and out of Reaper shroud to counter the burst that flies in your face + gaining mobility…..

10 sec just feels freaking unplayable on a power build x.x

Lets face it the most fun part of necro and main selling point of necro and the necros most iconic ability IS………………… Shroud…. and they nerfed it to kitten and the new spec also totaly removes it….

since the last nerfs most people gived up on necros and allready moved to other classes…
also people still testing and theory crafting thx to all the changes.
the only thing that is still viable is Condi Necro…

Typically those who didn’t need SR were those who played braindead Condi based builds (to include hybrids). This was supposed to be the patch that buffed power reaper, not nerf them into oblivion.

You literally just got a trait that allows you an extra 270 Power whilst in Shroud, and you think it’s unfair you can’t stay in Shroud as long.

well 270 Power look at that Our self sustain nonexistent mobility,block,immune and self healing allready fixed while also fixing the issue that made us into the number 1 tunnel target….

yeah… go pvp pls as a power reaper and stop thinking with the useless AFK pve mindset….

Necros are the whine meta class. Anyone viewing the patch as a whole as anything other than a buff to the class shouldn’t be playing power reaper. This patch makes power reaper dps competitive in raids overnight, opens up new builds with some great synergy for open world and instanced pve,

A class that’s already somewhat weak and gets nerf and this guy come to say is ok, is not that bad. A class that ppl play they want it to be strong not will be ok, will servive, is not a strong state a class is in and should not get any sort of nerf.

Devs be like:

a Class is weak ? Under used ? has many issues ?

The changes were almost exclusively to address PvE. PvP only got a cursory look in this round of updates.

so then WHY they gutted Necros Shroud tell me ?

that effects PvP more then ANYTHING else…..

why wasn’t this gutted? who enjoys playing against condi thief?

They were busy nerfing the hell out of the allready mediocre Power Necros……
