As others have said just open lfg and pick the type of map you want. I saw lfg for at least 6 different types of maps last night. Organized, farm, specific boss kills, etc.

You are just making up non existent problems with this thread.

If you want an organized map then join an organized map… I saw at least 8 organized maps in lfg last night, at least 5 farm maps, and I spawned into at least 2 normal maps with people just playing.

Join the type of map you want to play in. If you don’t want to farm then don’t join a farm map. In fact according to anet if you intentionally try to join the farm map with no intention of farming you can be banned.

This is my second night roaming around Silverwastes & people are doing the events, defending, running with pack bulls. This is happening at all forts. Exactly the same as last night. Very few chests have been unearthed.

There are farm maps, there are normal maps, and there are organized maps. There are plenty of all three. Just use lfg to get into the type of map you want.

I was initially all for keeping this farm, but turns out when it is done right it is rather insane.

You can get up to 120 champ bags/hr… I got 14 exotics, 150g in loot, 500 obby shards, 14 stacks of emp frags, 15 stacks of dragonite, and a crap ton of essences of luck today, just from 2-3 hours of farming.

Ascended mats and karma are now completely meaningless, and gold isn’t far behind.

Edit: That said, this is GW2. Exploit/farm early and often is essentially the tagline for this game. So get your farm on now or you will be left behind.

Whilst the rewards are admittedly nice and the days of dragonite shortage are finally over (Thank Goodness!), your statement is an exaggeration. Even with a well-organised farm, you won’t get even close to what you claim.
But I’m glad that you feel the rewards are as plentiful as you describe them.

Thankfully my bank does not need you to believe it for it to be true. Hey doesn’t bother me in the slightest, I will just keep farming it and getting more and more stuff. Of course I am just deleting the ascended mats now, and I might have to start deleting the obby shards too if I get another stack or two. Gold thankfully I can always use more of.

Turns out I was very very wrong…

At around 80 people you hit critical mass where you earn more shovels than there are chests every round of events. This leads to an endless farm of ~100 champ bags an hour lol. I made 300g today so far…

I think the problem is that many runes are craftable for ~4s with very oversupplied mats.

If you could forge them then you could essentially craft an unlimited number of runes and eventually get any rune you wanted. This would mean the average rune price would keep going lower and lower, until to approached the 16s forging price over time, assuming the mats didn’t run out. Given the oversupply of mats, and multiple rune crafting options, I suspect the market would saturate with runes before the mats went up considerably.

Engineers are currently top tier, so things have definitely changed. Rangers are also very popular in PvP right now.

I would say balance is better in the fact that every class has at least one competitive build in PvP, but still suffers from a few meta builds and not much build diversity.

Those are literally the same thing, all you did was switch second for time, which both have the same units. DPS refers to how much damage you do on average, every second.

This works out to about:
12,000 damage every second for a zerker character
8000 damage every second for a condition character
6000 damage every second for a clerics character

Full DPS just refers to the maximum amount of damage someone can do based on the gear they are wearing, which roughly corresponds to the number above.

Yep and how exactly is condition damage on par with direct damage? Perhaps I should have led with that. I can wear tank gear and claim to be full DPS. When I see full DPS, I see it has the maximum DPS that your class can do which is normally direct damage.

Right now 8000 dps is the most any class can do with a full condition spec, regardless of what gear you are wearing. But you are correct, it is not the maximum amount of dps any class can do.

This is one of the many inherent problems with conditions in this game. They have a hard cap, that scales poorly with gear, and scales abysmally with other players, can’t crit, and is dependent on 2 stats instead of 4 like direct damage. Realistically conditions would need a complete overhaul to ever be even competitive in general play.

Not sure what the problem here is. After we trigger the assault, and kill all the bosses, we zerg around hunting for chests for 5 minutes. We redo the event, complete, zerg, rinse and repeat. My only complaint is the lack of bank access.

You can build a bank at the WP actually.

I haven’t run into as a problem, but a few maps have people ignoring the events and just farming chests. I would say give it a week and see if it becomes more of a problem or if it stays just a few isolated maps.

If by efficient you mean fast then no, nothing should beat out a high damage, high risk, high rewards.

Why would anything else be more efficient? Zerker gear should be the most efficient for every dungeon because it allows for a faster run. Outside of a solo run where conditions will allow for fast kills because no one else is ruining your condition stacks.

Any gear will allow you do clear any content. But why anyone would think that Solider (or any gear with defensive stats should) gear should be more efficient then zerker ( or any gear with purely offensive stats)gear is beyond me.

You’re trying to proof something while using what you have to proof in your proof. That does not make for good logic. I mean why should zerker get the fatsre kill times? We could introduce mechanics that allow you trade in survivabilty for damage. Same high risk, same high rewards, just different gear/builds.

We already have mechanics that allow you to trade in survivability for damage… IT’S CALLED ZERKER GEAR!

Seriously… this is just common sense. You sacrifice all your survival stats for damage stats so you can kill bosses faster. That is literally the point of zerker gear. Of course it is the most efficient.

If I could kill a boss faster using defensive gear while also taking less damage from the bosses… then why would anyone wear anything other than that?

So what makes amber so special? is there more chest spawns there? maybe the solution is to make the chest spawns more even, or limit the number of people that can open a single chest to 10-15 to encourage spreading out.

I don’t particularly like the chests only available for a limited time thing. That was how it was in dry top and that just led to people afking until the sandstorm hit.

It is a non-issue imo. A large number of players zerged the event for 10+ hours and acquired a lot of shovels. Now that same zerg is spending those shovels to unearth chests. You get shovels at a rate of ~1 shovel for every 5 events completed. The zerg that stockpiled shovels in the initial rush is going to quickly exhaust that supply and end the farm.

In order to farm chests you have to farm the events. There is no way around it. Once people run out of shovels they will go back to trying to complete the events as fast and organized as possible to maximize the number of shovels and crests they get. The devs seem to have thought this one through pretty well.

My set is rabid, but sinister might be better now. However it is important to note that due to the way scaling works, condition sets benefit the least of any set when upgrading from exotic to ascended. Zerker will see ~20% dmg increase, while a rabid set will only see a ~4% dmg increase.

Sinister will fair better since it has 3 offensive stats, and power scales well, but you need to combine it with a hybrid build to see an improvement since a pure condition spec does very very very little direct dps.

We are in the middle of season 2 of the living story right now. You can purchase the episodes you missed for a few hundred gems, or just read the summaries and jump right in. As long as you log in while an episode is live you get it for free.

The biggest thing is there are 2 new maps now, LA was destroyed (but is slowly rebuilding), lots of balance changes, megaservers, new leveling experience, some new traits, and lots of new weapons and a new armor set.

Costs 5 crests/key. Chests drop between 3-5 crests guaranteed and rarely drop 25.

You raise a good point. It should be changed so that all that remains for crests is the rare 25 drop. That’d fix that.

There is nothing to fix. the chests are severely limited by the shovels, not the badges. A group tried to ignore the events and farm chests last night, it worked for about 30 minutes then they ran out of shovels and were just running back and forth getting absolutely no loot at all.

There is one at all 4 bosses actually. They allow you to respawn the boss and reset the associated achievement if you fail it. This means you don’t have to redo the entire instance every time you fail an achievement, and instead can stay in the instance until you finish them.

I Love the one WP only map. It finally manages to break up the zerg that has plagued this game since launch. Instead of WP from event to event and zerging it down, players actually have to spread out, explore, coordinate, and enjoy the content rather than just zerging it in a blob.

Hopefully more of the maps are designed this way in the future.

Also it takes less than 2 minutes to run across the entire map, I would hardly say it is a problem, especially since people can rez you and almost always do in this new map.

Well there isn’t multiple avenues, but there is definitely a war. If you hold the forts long enough you get the boss battles, if you don’t then no bosses until you do. It is on a pattern of about an hour, but it is more like a constant battle then a set of repeating events. I would say this is one of the best implementations of new events to date.

Ah, I have to replay the missions on characters that have already done it once, right? That must be where I failed, since my re-attempts have been on alts.

Yep, each character has to complete the story in order to do the achievements. You do get full rewards for each character though, and it gets faster each time you do it.

The problem with enemies with boons is that only 2 classes have access to boon strips and the stripping CD is always significantly longer than the boon uptime, making them pretty useless in PvE.

PvE boons/boon stripping need an overhaul imo. More classes need boon strips, and enemies in PvE need to have long duration long cd boons instead of short duration short CD boons.

The difference is it can go up slowly and take a year by a little bit. Or it can go up a lot in very short time(like the poly necklace).

I still kick my self for not investing in the poly necklace(only bought 5). But I think there is some risk in it because Anet very likely just release another jewel upgrade with different stats or ascended value.

The maize balm is a bit hard to use. Because it’s not so easy to find ambient that are group so tidely together in which you can hit 3 each and have 3 groups. Even if you can find it, you have to wait for a high cooldown. My guess is it depend on ToT bag value, if it went up a bunch, Maize Balm is definately a good value.

Actually in the capital cities there are a number of places where ambients are tightly grouped with a fast respawn.

With a group of 5 players you can farm a good number of bags per hour at almost 0 cost. In fact you can even craft the maize balm at this point and still make a big profit using it.

Whenever I pick the 15 option nothing happens. It doesn’t give me badges and it doesn’t consume the part. Not sure if it’s bugged or what. I’ve only ever gotten the 25 and 50 options to work.

Hmm I got it on my first try, but the Iron Troll took me 3 tries before I got the tendon. I think it is just RNG. you are just super lucky. They are worth more badges than the tendon. Try being less lucky I guess.

Have you played through the story instance already once? you can only earn the achievements if you have the “achievement buff” when you enter the instance. It is a yellow icon that tells you what you need to do. If you fail the conditions it immediately goes away.

If you don’t have that buff then you can’t earn the achievements even if you complete the objectives. Another way to tell is that the instance entrance in the open world should appear purple to you not green.

Also in the Glint’s lair instance you can use the challenge motes to reset the achievement, you do not have to do a hard reset of the entire thing.

It should be active again now.

It was deactivated shortly after release due to people exploiting it to gain a huge amount of gold.

unfortunately they fixed the bug but forgot to re-enable the content. Still says disabled when you click on it.

I should clarify that I really like the method of drops in the new zone, I think it is well done. I just think they should revamp MF to include opening bags and chests since that seems to be where the majority of loot comes from. Clearly they can do this since they did it for the lockbox chests.

You can get a precursor out of the gear loot bags, it is just random drops from them. I’ve gotten 8 rares, 3 exotics and a crap ton of blues/greens from those bags.

White weapon out of the rare bag is also just rng. It has a very high chance for rare, small chance for exotic, and even smaller chance for less than rare. Might be they drop that to 0 in a fix, but most likely not.

There should still be a way to skip right to the action though, for those of us that try several times to do the achievements.

Haven’t got to that mission yet (only did first two), so thanks for that info. I look forward to being able to just restart the achievements without having to restart the whole thing (as you said the motes do in the other thread).

I worked very hard to get my MF up to a decent level, but this patch seems to be a slap in the face of that effort. All the loot is coming from chest rewards and bags, both of which are not affected by MF. Is there a reason for this change?

I’ve been to 28 different map instances since release yesterday and have not seen this even once… Additionally the chests award on average 3 badges but take 5 badges to get a key, therefore you have to farm the events to even unlock the chests.

So nope, there is no problem.

this achievement is not bugged, we jsut got it.

at the end part you need to let 1 person stay behind with the npcs while the others counter the mobs. this way you avoid the npcs from going into combat

No one is talking about the end part, that is easy. The problem is the one-hit kill while trying to get to caithe. How did you get to caithe without the NPC’s dying? Did you use the thief/mesmer portal trick?

Now that the vendor is gone, the only thing players will be buying nougat/fangs/skulls for is for crafting the 3 craftable Halloween weapons, and there’s more than enough supply on the TP to craft plenty of those for a long time to come.

Candy Corn is a different matter, since it’s used in a lot more recipes. However, now that people can make Maize Balm, supply for Candy Corn is likely to never dry up to a point where you can really make bank off of it.

All in all, I think the Halloween stuff will go up slightly in price, but not really enough to make them worthwhile investments.

The unrefined versions are gonna have a hard time moving from vendor value on the tp, considering that Sonder doesnt trade 1k each of them in anymore for the refined versions. So we are stuck with what supply there is to craft the recipes, so recipes for the gifts and refined nougat/skulls/fangs will rise pretty sharpish.

This seems more like an oversite than anything. I mean are the unrefined rares used for anything? It seems there should always be a way to convert them.

It’s hard to judge candy corn. there are a lot of uses for it, but are people going to actually be using them throughout the year? and will they use them fast enough for all the supply to be used up? I think it will be a few months before anything significant happens since people are still opening up tot bags like crazy.

I just wanted to chime in and also show my support for this patch. This was a great improvement, and I loved the lore and the music. If Anet can keep up this quality of patches in the future then I will be impressed.

I would like to see more zones though. I’m really looking forward to more jungle zones as those are some of my favorite. It looks like we will be pushing further in, I just hope it happens sooner rather than later.

It took glint 1000 years to get as large as she did didn’kitten I think the baby will be a little too small to fight an elder dragon. Most likely the baby will be able to tell us something about the elder dragons or point us to some magical object that can help us defeat them. Of course it will also probably pave the way for the introduction of the crystal dragon who comes and tries to kill the baby.

If you pay you can access the trap controller on the far end of the area. Once you click on it the girl you pay will run at you and tell you to knock it off and become hostile. She can be killed (very hard champ) presumably for the key to the chest. I was unable to get anyone to help me kill her so I don’t know if she drops the key, but i’m 99% sure she does.

They don’t patch Canachs triggering out, you only have to wait a few secs until he’ll follow you

Wait a few seconds where? as soon as we pass him it marks talking to him as complete and triggers caithe.
