Don’t worry there WILL be new legendary weapons in 2013!
oh wait…
Well they are removing the Dungeon, fractals, crafting, and economy sub forums. Seems like further indication that they have no plans for an expansion. They are funneling all their time and resources into the LS (which maintains its own sub forum and gets an expanded lore forum).
There are no secret projects, LS is it.
Will these Specialists be selected by Anet or by the community?
There are 2-3 posters here who i’m sure Anet would love to makes specialists, but i’ll be frank… if they are selected I will leave the game.
So I get removing Dungeons, and Crafting forums since those features have been officially abandoned by the devs, but why remove the BLTC forum? That is one of the most active forums with one of the most active devs.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Forum-Reorganization
This forum will be removed, no more talking about the economy
Wherever I go in SW there is a splashing around my feet. It seems to go away in other zones. At first I thought it may be a bug, but since Mordy is transforming the desert into a jungle I then thought that maybe he is also slowly flooding the zone to sustain his plants.
So… is this splashing an evolution of the zone or is it just a bug?
I don’t understand the point of these… I have never seen any sort of animation when I get a mail, just a blinking mail icon at the top of my screen. Is there really some animation associated with getting mail? Does anyone have a video of it?
Huh? You play as caithe in this instance…
You dont if you are in party
Well if you are in a party then don’t attack the golem, let your party members attack him while you focus on the centaur. Only the golem has reflects.
I beat him by disabling his shield while he was standing on a sand storm… it took away 50% of his health. Not sure if it was a bug or not, but it worked.
Huh? You play as caithe in this instance…
It is fun occasionally, but not all the time. I think it worked well for one episode. However I do wish they gave us a different weapon set or that we weren’t so kitten as thieves.
Are thieves really that weak all the time?
Caith’s moveset was OP as hell…I don’t know what you’re talking about.
What do you normally main as? Caithe did about 1/10th the damage as my ele and had no second weapon set.
For reference my ele and necro can each do what caithe’s stealth backstab damage did, except in an AOE, while moving, with much better positioning.
Remember they usually do a 3 month break after the holiday’s. So if we don’t get it in 2 weeks it most likely will not come until March.
Usually?
That have never actually happened.Last update in 2012 were on December 14th. First updated in 2013 was on January 28th.
Last update in 2013 were on December 10th and the first of 2014 was on January 20th.
Hmm you are right, the break was from April to July last year. The year before there was technically no break… but from December to March was the start of the LS and it started pretty slow. (Like glacially).
Lets hope there is no break this year.
Remember they usually do a 3 month break after the holiday’s. So if we don’t get it in 2 weeks it most likely will not come until March.
Since there is only 1 episode left I think they will do it in 2 weeks though, and then have the next feature patch in March.

Honestly… if you can’t afford 10g then you shouldn’t be worried about end game skins or ascended level gear. Focus on building up your character and making some investments. Once you have 200-300 gold then start looking into higher tier skins and ascended gear.
The LS is good for story, but that is about it, otherwise it is mostly a gold sink. The other aspects of the game is where you make money.
I think a lot of people are really missing out on something here: Caithe and our Character weren’t supposed to be aware that Faolin started everything. We were supposed to be inside that hut, not able to see what they were doing. However, because of our third person viewpoint (and the fact that most of us have done the PS) we all know what a weed Faolin really is. At that point in time, Caithe didn’t know and trusted Faolin when she claimed that the Centaurs turned on her.
But that’s exactly the problem… out character HAS done the PS, and knows about Faolin, yet after the vision we were all like “yeah caithe was attacked by centaurs and had to defend herself” even though our character should CLEARLY know that is not what happened. In that vision us in the real world and our characters have the same amount of knowledge of the situation, and should reach the same logical conclusion, yet the devs continue to make our characters utterly brainless.
Another question, in the release notes it says one of them unlocks elder wood log now, Im almost certain I reed ancient when it was first release?
Is it elder wood or ancient wood?
Apparently there is a node for each.
If Caithe isn’t immediately executed for this series of crimes upon capture then I probably will not continue playing this story.
Do this when trying an achievement:
Carefully analyze the boss’s mechanics and think a way out of it!When you kill one earth elemental a sandstorm spawns on the spame spot as the elemetal died. So don’t melee it and you won’t have a problem with it.
The wind is dodgeable with “dodge” 3 and 6.“Don’t melee it”
90% of Caithe’s skills are mele, how do you expect us to not melee it?It’s just the last hit on the Elemental you shouldn’t melee if you can’t walk out of it quick enough. E.g. finishing it of with #2 to leap away or run away with utility #1, Condition Damage (Utility slot #2) or semi-ranged (#4 and #5) are all viable options. Or teaming up and letting a non-Caithe teammate do the last hit.
Question: Anyone know how people lose the achievement before we even get to the boss (after the Centaur defence bit?) As a group we did it over and over and someone keeps losing it before we get to him, but I can’t see how.
If you die you lose all achievements.
Exactly what was disappointing about it?
He quite clearly stated that the length was disappointing since each episode has been shorter and shorter and contains less and less content.
Did you not read the OP?
Look at the corner it says point of no return not seeds of truth
The entire season is called point of no return, the episodes then have individual names.
The patch notes state:
“Home instance unlocks for orichalcum ore, elder wood logs, omnomberries, snow truffles, and lotuses have been added as very rare drops.”
Should that be Ancient Wood logs?
Elder wood logs seem wrong since everything else is T6. Probably just a typo in the patch notes, figured i’d mention it.
The game is suffering from item inflation, not gold inflation. Your gold seems less useful because of item inflation. At launch an item you wanted would take 5-10 T6 mats and 1-5 ectos. Now if a new item is introduced it takes 250 T6 mats, 2 stacks of ectos, and 100g in common mats. So even if gold hasn’t inflated your buying power of completed items has still plummeted even while your buying power of mats has stayed the same.
Well thats not even true.
So you are saying that exotic gear uses roughly the same amount of mats as ascended gear?
You are saying that standard exotic back pieces use the same amount of mats as maydrey?

They just added this to FB:

Are those converted destroyers? Is mordy turning other dragon minions to his side?
stupid forum page bug…
They never said SAB wouldn’t be back. So it’s not a lie. They never said when it would be back.
So when they say nothing is off the table, it is meant to be understood as everything is coming, we just don’t want to say when.
To a new player, the fact that SAB has been in game in the past is no different than a new class/race not being in the game now. New player can’t access either. Those who had priviledge of playing SAB in the past can remember how it was, and some unfortune individuals can still stare their infinite continue coin in the bank.
OT: everything indicates strongly that there will not be a “boxed” expansion. Not next year, nor next, nor ever. The medium of delivering content is LS. It has improved from Season 1 – story is still same kitten, but at least content is nearly permanent – but it still has miles and miles to go before it can be said to be a good medium.
First of all, Colin said that SAB will definitely be back. It was said by someone or other that it wouldn’t be back during this season of the Living Story. It’s not a lie no matter how you slice it.
Someone brought it up as an example of a lie. If so, what was the lie?
I’m fairly certain Colin said the opposite of that… do you have a link?
The whole expansion argument is identical to the people who believe in big foot. You have one set of people who say that there is nothing to indicate that big foot is real, the past has shown that he probably isn’t real, and you just need to accept that. The other side is saying, you can’t prove that big foot isn’t real, and as technology gets better we will eventually see big foot “sometime” in the future. They pretend to be rational by saying things like “well one of us will be proven right eventually”. Well obviously… but only one of those positions is rational.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Super-Adventure-Box-merged-1/page/14#post4456748
Edit: By the way comparing believing that expansion content is coming and believing in big foot is not really the same thing. Even trying to compare that is disingenuous.
Thanks for the link, I missed that post.
I literally just took the arguments I’ve seen in this thread and replaced the word expansion with big foot. People keep asking to prove that there is no expansion coming. You simply can’t prove something that doesn’t exist.

Also just because they MAY be “working” on some stuff doesn’t actually mean it will ever make it into the game.
It seems to me that 90% of what they develop ends up getting scratched because their “plans” change. (see pretty much everything they were working on in 2013)
So sure they may be “working” on things, but we will never see it and it mostly likely will not ever impact the game except for the continued void where content should be.
I have the exact opposite problem… stupid sand keeps giving me dry top crap that I don’t want… I’ve gotten 2 stacks of geodes and 50 of those keys… if I wanted to be in dry top i’d be in dry top…
They’ve been “working” on precursor crafting for 2 years now. They are very good at “working” on stuff. Their problem is in delivering stuff.
Things they are “working” on:
1. precursor crafting
2. cooking 500
3. jewelcrafter 500
4. new legendary weapons
5. legendary trinkets
6. new skills
7. more weapons for each clas
These are all things they have been “working” on for more than 12 months… yet they have not delivered a single one.
I’ll remain skeptical…
@Rebound i think if you your speculation to be taken seriously you might want to stop using cabbages? the first 2 times its funny, after that it just becomes an annoyance to read.
Further whats up with them first talking to Centaurs and the second after they slaughter them? They look like peaceful maguuma peacekeepers to me, the ones you can also find in Dry Top.
That’s your own opinion on the mater ^.^. I can’t take seriously the story as long as it constantly revolves around 1 race. In fact the whole story is beginning to be an annoyance to me. I honestly can’t wait for the Rytlock sidestory to start just so i don’t get to see and experience the melodrama which the Sylvari represent as a race and has been diligently spoonfed to us since the start of the game.
If u don’t want to take my posts seriously because of 1-2 words, then don’t. It’s your right :P that won’t change my thoughts on the matter….they have, are..and will always be over-glorified melodramatic cabbages because of the way ANet has presented them to us both in quality and in quantity…over..and..over…and over…and over…and over…and over…and over….again.
I know, GW1 sucked because it was all about Humans… stupid one race stories…
first: comments on the length of the season.
i don’t see the logic of why people say that episode eight will be the end of season 2… oh yeah, the term “mid-season break.” that doesn’t mean that both “halfs” of the season have to be equal in length. look at Doctor Who season 7 (Matt Smith’s Doctor.)
first “half” was 6 episodes, and second “half” was 8, not including the 50th anniversay episode and Christmas episode which technically count as season 7’s 3-part finale… bringing the second “half” of the season up to 10 episodes.ANET already said there will be 6 pieces of armour added for the silverwastes. since they’re giving us 1 piece per update, that means 6 episodes. so the season would end at episode 10.
for those who would argue that would take us into 2015… keep in mind that season 1 started in spring 2013 and ended in spring 2014, so a calender argument is not only invalid, but would be stronger evidence that season 2 could even be longer than 10 episodes, especially if they’re planning a 3 or 4 part finale like how season 1 ended. you know. part 1 Scarlett invades LA and we rescue civilians. part 2 we attack the ground troops. part 3 we attack the generals and confront Scarlett herself. part 4 being the celebration and cleanup, aka epilogue.
so optimistically imagine 1st “half” of season 2 is 4 parts. second “half” is 6 parts, and the “finale” could be 4 more parts
Second: my speculation
i think episode 8 will culminate with us fighting whatever is in that 3 lane are on the far west of the Silverwastes map.
i think that episode 9 will take us to another new zone where the final showdown of season 2 will occur.
we may even guilt-trip Ellen Kiel and Captain Magnus into helping during the final assault, since we killed Scarlett to end the assault on LA, and they’ve been notably absent during the rebuilding efforts…
P.S. i’m still disappointed that i didn’t get to keep an Aetherblade airship after assaulting Twilight Arbor Aetherblade Path. my character definitely would have taken one to use against Scarlett, considering how the Pact wasn’t involved, and 40 airborne cannons plus 6 more forward deck mounted turrets would have made a difference in the Scarlet War… especially considering how effective “air support” is in SIlverwaste defense events.
[SUGGESTION] new F5 PvE skill: Request Air Support!
could work as a trigger for a mini dynamic event during regular dynamic events. first person uses F5 to launch a signal flare, starting the event (which scales based on player numbers in the area) requires 5 total flares to complete (or more as the event scales up) within 15 seconds. if successful, calls in a Pact Airship to bombard the area centered around the active dynamic event. / world boss / etc.
Most people think it will end with Ep8 because Anet told us it would.
As for my predictions I’m not sure… there is a lot to wrap up in this season imo.
1. We will find out what happened to Rytlock.
2. We will find out who E is.
3. We will see Mordy, but not get to fight him
4. We will find out more about Caithe/Nightmare Court/Slyvari in general.
I think if we hit those 4 points then we can wrap up S2 pretty nicely.
Doesn’t this go in the Living Story section of the forums?
Most people don’t frequent that section of the forum and would never see the trailer, so I posted it here.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/trailer-seeds-of-truth-begins-december-2/
Enjoy… looks exciting.
I think there has been an upswing in the number of complaints from PvE players because other MMO’s have recently launched very large content updates and expansions that dwarf what we have seen in GW2. Obviously Anet can not fully keep up, but currently a small update every 2-3 months is not very sustaining, which is why the expansion model has been used in other MMO’s.
The idea was supposed to be small updates to keep players interested until the bulk of your devs finished the expansion which introduced a huge amount of content… Anet somewhere decided that players would be happy with ONLY the small content updates… and well the response hasn’t been very positive from what i’ve seen.
1. Not sure what causes the mithril cycle. It drops to 30c every month or so then swings back up to around 50c. This repeats every few months, no idea what causes it.
2. Elder wood dropped due to Foxfire Clusters. These were used for a backpack that was part of the LS. They dropped from harvesting elder wood logs, and were selling for 1g each for a while. This led people to mass harvest the logs, causing the price to plummet. Foxfire is down to 20s now so people stopped farming it so the price is slowly climbing back up.
3. The fine mats go high until it is profitable to forge the lower tier mat into the higher tier and then they go back down. This happens on cycles as well.
One story goes that they added ascended because the devs were surprised how easy it was to get Exotic
Yeah, right. They definitely were surprised, especially since their stated earlier goal was for players to be able to deck themselves in top stat gear by the time they hit level 80. I mean, it was really surprising that the game followed stated designs, right?
They were surprised that something like 70% of players didn’t actually like this and all left the game after getting exotics since there was nothing left to do except get a 1000 hour of work legendary. One tier took 10 minutes, the next took 60,000 minutes per slot. People were put off by this so they left.
Ascended gear was added because even though people whine and complain a lot about not wanting a gear grind, they actually want a gear grind.
Guhracie — I think your tone was very polite and constructive, and thanks for that, and for your suggestions.
I think what you’re suggesting is that we have a dedicated page in the News and Announcements Forum that listed external updates: a blog post here, an interview there, that sort of thing? So you’re thinking public information provided elsewhere might be gathered in a sticky post in that forum?
As to trying to provide links to informative forum posts, well, that’s precisely why we offer the Dev Tracker. In the Dev Tracker, forum members who are interested in learning the latest from the team can see what was said in whatever timeframe — the last day, the last week — they want to review. Maybe you mean something different, I’m not sure.
Valuable threads can be stickied in the appropriate forum. But perhaps my team could be more active in making threads sticky, and in removing them from sticky status. There’s nothing that demands that a thread that was stickied in 1998 needs to be stickied today.
Maybe a thread is relevant for a week or a month. After that, it can be unsticked. Others that remain relevant forever — like the “Tickets for Review” thread in the Support Sub-forum — should be left in stickied status forever.
Fact is, we don’t want a sticky-fest, where half of the front page of each sub-forum is filled with stickies. On the other hand, being more active with stickies could be very helpful and would keep the forums more current. Let me brainstorm with the team about this idea.
Thanks for a good topic of discussion. Feedback is welcome from anyone who’d care to offer it!
I find the problem with the dev tracker is that 90% of the posts are from customer support and ticket responses that have no bearing on the game itself.
Is there a way that posts from the customer support section could be removed from the dev tracker? I think that would make it much easier to find information.
Oh NO, 6 hours of work over 8 weeks to obtain an end game armor set… the HORROR!!!!
HOW DARE ANET MAKE US PLAY THEIR GAME FOR MORE THAN 30 SECONDS TO OBTAIN TOP TIER REWARDS!!!
Anet is not currently working on any dungeons content and has no plans to develop dungeons further.
Removal of water from PvE began in the last feature patch with the removal of water in all starting areas
That’s a serious overreaction to “moved an underwater heart (a really tedious one, at that) so it takes place on land”.
Alright… where did they move the water to? Or did they remove it just like I said?
I’ve tried. Doesn’t have nearly the same punch as a properly marketed expansion. I hate to point to WoW but they were adding content constantly as well but what draws everyone back time and again? Expansions.
First off, it took WoW almost 3 years to get their first expansion out and they didn’t add any new content like GW2 has all free of charge (if you take advantage of it at the time of release). So perspective and patience might be in order.
Secondly, I fully support the idea and reasons for an expansion. Give it more time and I hope we see a Cantha down the road.
You might want to check your facts there… WoW launched their first expansion 2 years and 2 months after launch, not even close to 3 years. Secondly they added:
2 new PvP modes
4 new PvP maps
4 new dungeons
6 raids
4 festivals
3 events
in addition to the normal feature sets (PvP ranks, PvP rewards, LFG tool, cross server stuff, etc)
All free of charge before their first expansion. So you can see why people think GW2 is lagging behind content wise. Plus they did all that without any competition to encourage them to do so.
/inbeforesomeonetellsmetogobacktowow
Make at least 30g on the TP, log out. Takes about 15 minutes. Don’t play much other than that unless it is patch day. On patch day I do the story, all the achievements, and the armor collection and then wait for the next patch. This last patch only took me 3 hours to do all of that…
I really don’t understand how anyone can be happy with the current model… a few hours of content every 2 months with no expansions isn’t anything to be excited about.
Basically this game is the same as WoW, except it never releases expansions… How many people would still be playing WoW if they never had an expansion?
I disagree. In PvE you have to buy/craft/earn your rewards.
In PvP you earn skins through playing PvP, you do not need any monetary rewards. What you seem to be actually be asking for is a way for PvP players to earn PvE rewards.
I have nothing inherently against this, but if you can earn PvE rewards through PvP, then you should also be able to earn PvP rewards through PvE.
new PvP amulets, sigils, runes etc needs to be unlocked with gold, lots of gold.
new traits, needs to be unlocked with gold as well.new characters created after the NPE has lots and lots of traits that needs to be unlocked with gold.
unfortunately, absurdly, ridiculously, traits unlocks are character bound and not account bound.
only the balthazar’s reward track and glorious armor reward track is limited to sPvP, PvE players can easily abuse spectator mode and auto balance to unlock those reward tracks.
by the way, sPvP has no real means at all to acquire PvE rewards such as fractal weapon skins, and legendary precursor weapons.
You are correct, I forgot about that rather odd decision. In that case then yes I do agree that PvP should be more rewarding. The time it would take to unlock everything doing only PvP would be rather absurd.
The key of course is to balance it. You don’t want people afk’ing hotjoin PvP for 20g/hr. I would say a reward system that scales with your PvP rank and does not apply in hotjoin would be the best option.
Water combat has been mostly removed from the game. Water was removed from WvW about a year ago, from PvP about 9 months ago, and from weapon sets about a year ago.
Removal of water from PvE began in the last feature patch with the removal of water in all starting areas. I suspect the LS will remove the rest of the water within another year.
I played SWTOR for the first year it was out… that game was much more challenging than this one.
Maybe things have changed since I left, but SWTOR had actual challenges in it. I don’t think i’ve ever seen any content in GW2 that I couldn’t complete on the first try except for the first year of the gauntlet, and even that only took me about a dozen tries.
What this game needs is actual challenges, certainly not to be made easier.
I disagree. In PvE you have to buy/craft/earn your rewards.
