i’m not really sure what you are saying… you are saying confusion is too strong at higher levels but it is also too weak?

Confusion is pretty much the most useless condition in PvE. It has short durations, isn’t able to be stacked well, and doesn’t do any dmg because the mob attacks once, maybe twice during the duration of it. This means a mesmer can get maybe 3-4k dmg from confusion even if they are specced heavily into it. It should last 10x longer then maybe it would be ok.

There is a patch coming on the 27th, it will 100% include balance changes, but I suspect it will also include some sort of epilogue as well as the extra extractors.

This would be a nice addition. Currently if you join a party with someone you blocked you have no idea and you simply don’t hear them talking at all, which generally leads to problems for the group. I obviously can’t keep track of every person I blocked, so having the lfg tool show me this would be nice.

Most MMO’s have a strikethrough rating and also an alacrity stat, the former increases the % of armor your attacks ignore and the latter increases the speed of your attacks.

Anet has designed the game for a much less intelligent audience (see NGE) so they didn’t want to confuse players will multiple stats, which is why we don’t have them in this game.

The only reason is that this is a very very casual game, so different stats were kept to a minimum.

Feature/balance patches don’t necessarily include story additions. I haven’t really been paying attention, but I don’t think they usually do. They seem to save the balance / feature patches for after story concludes, as they have here.

Dlonie is correct. Recent history of patches has been balance/features being independent of storyline.

But there is no feature pack (because they take 3 weeks to reveal those) and as far as I can tell there has never been a balance patch that wasn’t also tied in with either a features patch or a holiday or a story patch. There is no holiday, and there is no feature patch, so I assume this balance patch will have some elements of story in it as well. The changes certainly don’t seem significant enough to launch them all by themselves.

What do you mean exactly? Ele’s current have the highest dps by about a 10% margin. Thieves can do slightly higher burst, but they don’t have the sustain.

Plus the might nerf effects all classes, it probably hurts warriors the most.

Seems like D/D will get a much needed nerf while scepter is getting buffed, and exploits are being fixed. Seems like an overall win with sensible changes.

Might nerfed but pretty much every class was buffed to compensate… can’t really complain. I think these changes look pretty good actually.

I like the no-AoE mob rule. It means that copper is the last to fall due to the horde of players sitting there doing 1-1-1-1-1-1.

That means you can generally do amber or indigo and be in time to tag copper and extract another part on the cheap.

Can’t do this anymore, they fixed it with the last patch.

Too bad, I think this could have been a really cool set if they had actually spent some time on it, made it dyable, and gave each weight a slightly different look.

Well if they launch an expansion then that pretty clearly says that “player a” is not making Anet enough money and are not a big enough group to support the game.

The fact is that the game needs “player b’s” to keep the game afloat and pay the salaries.

I tried being nice.. but the hate of the other races as driven me to the dark side… my character has become a servant of Mordy now…

I personally don’t understand why so many people want an expansion. ArenaNet has been constantly giving us additional content for free. Why do players want them to start charging us for it? We’re not getting many new skills. They tried that in Guild Wars 1, and it made managing game balance a nightmare for them. They probably won’t raise the level cap. In fact, one of the reasons I came back to this game was ArenaNet’s aversion to tinkering with level caps. So when I imagine a Guild Wars 2 expansion I see us paying $40 for a new race. I’m not particularly enthusiastic about that idea.

Because they see other MMO’s with expansions getting 100x more content then we get and they want that too.

For those saying you don’t want a “traditional” expansion, what would you like to see instead? I have seen multiple people say that, but I am not sure what this new type of expansion would entail, how it would be executed and what it would give us… can you elaborate on what you think it should be?

I can’t wait to see all the whining when they announce the level cap increase. They said if they ever did an expansion they would increase the level cap, but people seem to always just put their fingers in their ears and hum when it is brought up…

What would you consider hype? An epic trailer with an in-game advertisement for an event? An announcement on the front page of the games website?

What exactly would Anet have to do to be considered hyping up their announcement for it not to be the players fault for “setting themselves up for disappointment”?

They even hyped it up IN GAME… which is pretty much never done…

I literally don’t know how they could hype it up themselves anymore than they already have… Any disappointment will NOT be the players fault.

The most trouble I have seen is with the second boss, where people don’t stand in the white triangles when they should.

Yeah because of the master slyvari you were able to defeat Zhatain… good luck killing another dragon without slyvari. Heck, we were the only race that c ouldn’t be corrupted by the other dragons, without us you will ALL be dragon minions.

Plus… we can GROW an army in an instant… you will never win…

I’m guessing necro will get greatsword and ele will get sword. Both of which I will be excited to try out. Not really interested in much else class wise.

There are a number of mechanisms that could protect us:

1. Proximity to Glint’s egg
2. Vision that the Pale tree bestowed upon us
3. Pale tree focusing her protection on us since we are important
4. Stronger will to resist
5. Kasmeer’s weird Nightmere tower powers
6. Trial’s of divine fire purified us of all evil influence
7. Holding and being covered in the divine fire
8. Being attuned to Glint’s lair

Take your pick, or choose multiple. Either way we won’t be affected.

I think we will probably face 2 at a time after this or something. That and it should come quicker now that china is launched and the core systems are established. I’d expect:

Mordy- 2015
dragon 3- 2017
dragon 4- 2018
dragon 5&6- 2020

Lifetime of the game will probably mean we never see dragon 5&6 unfortunately, since there are only 1 or 2 MMO’s in existence that had development that lasted longer than 6 years.

i’m sorry but what exactly did they do? I was trapped in there solo, without help. They threw the fire to me (which I have no idea why I wasn’t holding onto in the first place), and cheered for me, that’s it… they should be paying me and calling me their emperor for all the work I do for them.

My predictions for any expansion would be:

1. Minimum of 8 new zones
2. New set of legendary weapons
3. Precursor crafting
4. Minimum 1 new weapon for each class
5. Minimum 1 new trait for each line of each class
6. 5 new armor sets, obtainable in game (FULL SETS)
7. Jewelcrafting taken to 500
8. 3 New dungeons

That would be the bare minimum for me.

Additional things that would be nice:
1. New class
2. New race
3. additional 3-4 zones
4. Raids
5. Additional dungeons

But in this case if you did even a small amount of research you would see he was right. Anet invited the biggest WvW guilds to participate in testing and allowed many other guilds to apply via an application process. There were several thousand players invited to play in the beta. I wasn’t one of them so I don’t know what they said in the beta forum, but it did happen and the biggest WvW guilds were involved.

If you did Crucible of Eternity you’ve known for 2 years that Sylvari were actually dragon minions not to be trusted.

Better put all Sylvari to the torch. I’ve been in support of that since oh, LS season 1 when Scarlet was revealed.

There’s a big difference here. You are not people. You are dragon minions. You are constructs. You are not born, you are created as an imitation. Knowledge is planted into your head, and you act on it. You do not learn your own perspective and choose your own path, your path is set before you, you are programmed.

The only difference is what knowledge was planted into your head prior to the Dragon’s Awakening was Ventari’s Teachings rather than the instructions of the Dragon.

Now the Dragon is awake, and able to reprogram Sylvari to serve him.

This isn’t a case of a few bad apples. This is the case of all Sylvari being vulnerable to corruption from the Dragon.

Also in other cases, people make conscious CHOICES to be evil but each person of you know ACTUAL people, Asura, Charr, Norn, Human, Tengu, Quaggan, Kodan, Skritt, Largos, even Krait (in their case it’s a cultural difference), each individual makes their own choices, so yes, it’s wrong to judge that entire group of people by the actions of one or a few.

However, Sylvari are not entities of free will and choice, they are constructs, they are programmed with a “wild hunt” which they are compelled to fulfill. Their life isn’t one of making choices, but one of obligation to fulfill their programming.

… and a Dragon can program them however he wishes.

Sort of like how humans were programmed to Zhatains will when they came in contact with him…

Or sort of how Norn’s will’s were programmed when they came in contact with Jormag…

Or sort of like how all Charr were programmed to serve the crystal dragon when they come into contact with the crystals…

So basically you are saying the Slyvari are evil because they have resisted not one, but 5 different dragons influence?

I don’t understand why people will turn against slyvari… We spent the last two years having to have our cities destroyed, our homes burned and our people killed because Humans, Charr, Asura, and Norn all became minions of 4 different dragons. Meanwhile only the steadfast Slyvari have prevailed in resisting the dragons influence.

Norn are willingly and openly joining Jormag, yet no one is trying to wipe out the Norn. Asura with their deep magic awoken Primordious yet no one is trying to wipe out the Asura.

It is time for Slyvari to say enough is enough. It is time to cleanse the world of the lesser races who have continually fallen under the dragons influence.

People don’t seem to die in crashes in this game. Flight is a relatively new invention so they don’t go up super high, plus all the ships were connected by the vines that were attacking them, so they could have just run/climbed down the vines as the ship was going down.

This season was essentially like Lost… it added a crap ton of questions and answered very few…

Hopefully we get some answers soon.

you can always get a group and cheese it. Have the dragon kill you, stay dead until the end of the fight, get achievement.

It doesn’t make much sense from a plot perspective…

There are entire tribes of Norn who are willingly and openly joining Jormag, and no one seems to care about that… but 2 slvari get converted into dragon minions and now all of a sudden ALL slyvari are evil?

What about the 1000’s of Charr who became minions of the crystal dragon? Why aren’t all Charr considered evil?
What about the millions of humans t hat became undead minions? Why aren’t all humans evil? wouldn’t it have been better to burn every human in existence to prevent them from becoming minions of Zhaitan?

There just doesn’t seem to be any logic behind this preview of trying to kill all the slyvari…

I hope they sell it in the gem store… if they do I may actually buy gems in addition to the expansion. getting 20-30 gold for my gems would be a great incentive to invest money into the game again.

I personally hope it is a paid expansion. I’ve seen what “free” expansions offer and they are usually limited in scope and have a ton of paywalls to new features. Paid expansions offer much much more content and no paywalls.

I don’t understand the hate against slyvari. They are the only interesting race in the game.

I also don’t understand this new plot device of making all the other races hate them because they can become dragon minions… the entire personal story was about the slyvari saving the other races because they all became dragon minions and the slyvari were the only ones who didn’t.

On the one hand, I think Wanze and The Black Leech are on the right track, the trademark name does make sense as a bundle deal for season 2, especially if we fight the big flower (The heart of thorns?) in today’s update.

Doesn’t make much sense to me. They’ve been calling this season “The Point of No Return” for all 8 episodes. It’s been on all their SS’s and in all their trailers… why would they call it something completely different when they bundle it?

Well Anet stayed silent too long. If this isn’t an expansion they are going to have some major marketing fallout, and the game will suffer. Doesn’t matter what they intended or planned, or if the communities expectations are reasonable or not. They kept the community too content starved for too long, and now they are going to either have to deliver or pay the consequences.

What community? The loud internet community (forum made if the same 100 people who constantly post their anger?), reddit.community or the majority not part of any community?

You can live in your dream world where the majority of people are happy, but my statement stands, and time will show it to be true. Plus everyone ingame already knows about this, It was the only thing being talked about in map chat in the 5 maps that I visited this morning.
