If it wasn’t for damask then ascended gear wouldn’t even be a grind. ALL the other mats for ascended gear are so easy to get that most of them are worthless. Most of them in fact sell for below crafting cost.
If damask was twice as easy to get as it is now then I think many people could have ascended armor by the time they hit 80.
If they increase the effectiveness of toughness and vit, it will just lead to a whole new set of problems. Problems that have existed since the game launched but don’t really get highlighted.
For example, an ele in full toughness/vit gear has LESS health and toughness then a warrior in zerker gear. When in zerker gear ele’s do more dmg than warriors by a small margin, but if you make an ele have the same toughness and vit as a warrior then the warrior does 60% more dmg than the ele.
This discrepancy would be amplified significantly if zerker is nerfed in some way, and then we will have the same problem we have now, except we will be kicking anyone that isn’t a warrior instead of anyone who isn’t zerker.
Questions about Pricing and Payment [merged]

lol so it will be pay to win
and another dead game for me
There have been some questionable decisions regarding items in the gem store and P2W… but this is not one of them…
There is no level or power increase in the expansion, so it can’t possibly be P2W… How exactly are you thinking it will be P2W?
I just hope someone runs straight to the wardrobe and screenshots every new legendary and every new armor set…
The devs specifically said that another feature patch was coming that was veteran focused and would address some concerns we had. I can’t see them launching it after HoT, so it seems pretty certain that we will get a feature patch before it.
I didn’t read every post… but I assume it went something like this so far:
OP: I can’t play well so I die in zerker gear, please make players who are bad get more rewards then good players!
Other posters: That doesn’t make any sense, zerker gear is the most rewarding because it is the highest risk and requires the most skill to pull off.
OP/others: That’s stupid, nerf zerker or i’ll quit!
That about sum it up so far?
Makes sense to me. If they allow them then we will have a ton of level 80 players with no idea on how to play their class, who will then flood the forums with complaints that revenant is somehow “broken” since they don’t know how to play.
I don’t see the point of adding new play styles and builds and specialization while 50% of the damage types in the game have been broken since launch. Can we expect condition specs to be fixed in this expansion or will they be ignored and hope people forget about them with shiny new specs?
I’ll use my lvl 20 scroll then level the normal way. It’s unfortunate that leveling scrolls exist though. We are going to have tons of lvl 80 revenants that have no idea how to use their class who will flood the forum with complaints that the class is broken. They will be shunned from groups because most people don’t know how to use them and then the people that actually know how to play the class will get shafted.
Can you please provide your link for how many zones there are, how many mastery lines there are, how many specializations there are, no big each zone is, how big how many features and how many styles of guild halls there are, what the new guild focused group content is, what the challenging new encounters are like, how many new bosses there are, and what the new class is like?
Once you kindly provide the link with that information we should have a better idea of how big the expansion is and can humbly agree with your superior intellect.
Remember that there are destroyers in the trailers so don’t be surprised if this expansion is going to lead us to Primordus in the future.
Those aren’t destroyers I don’t think. There is a jungle crab thing from the original GW that is what we saw in the trailer… Maybe someone who has a better memory than me can give better details lol.
There will be 1 spec/prof at HoT release

So your choice is to either advance your class or not advance your class?
That isn’t a specialization choice, that is a forced decision.
Everyone will choose to become the specialization because it will be better. If it isn’t better then no one will become the specialization and it was a waste of time.
There will need to be a minimum of 2 choices so you can have 2 distinct play styles that are both better than not specializing.
Hey,
In about 6 weeks there is the BETA and my question is:
can you already farm your precursors with the achievements in the BETA?
In 6 weeks there is a playable demo, not the beta.
However when there is a beta it will be on a separate client, so anything you do will not carry over to the main game. I’m sure there will be guides on what you need to do to get the precursors once people are in the beta though.
I just hope the new legendary weapons are account bound. That is the single most important thing to me in this expansion.
I just hope that you need the expansion to continue posting on the forums. There will be no need to hear from anyone that doesn’t buy it anymore.
Agree with you Lindelle! That is one awesome-looking weapon!
<—- loves ravens.
Dangit… having you post that in this thread just got my hype up even more.
CONFIRMED!"
Woot one down, a lot to go!
I suspect there will be a feature patch before the expansion launch. I’m anticipating they add those then.
Seems likely. I noticed quite a few dinosaur/dragon looking things in that trailer.
Looked great to me. Hard to go wrong with dinosaurs and dragons imo.
My disappointment with this announcement

1) They have promised hard group content for the hard core player since the game was first conceived. They have yet to deliver on it nor seemed to truly attempt to deliver on it. Everything about their releases has been centered around the casual-average player area.
2) Edge of the Mists is not a WvW map. Edge of the Mists is, and has always been, something entirely separate from WvW.
I would love to see you take a group of casual-average players and finish the Triple Trouble Wurm or Tequatl.
Edge of the Mists was a map developed based on WvW-players suggestions, with the help of WvW-players beta-testing and released for the benefit of WvW.
You might not like it, but claiming that it is not a map for WvW is completely false.
Teq is easy, every pug group does it today, no need of ts3 even.
And as it was said, EotM is not a WvW map, it’s not based on WvW-players suggestions, and the majority of the testers with PvE players. The result is evident.I have my fears, that new map will be yet another karma train.
And you can do the same thing with all the old WoW raids. Once you have the content on farm it is no longer hard, that is hardly exclusive to this game…
It took days for the first guild to beat Teq, and that was with organization and TS.
Wurm took weeks for most guild groups with TS to beat.
You are confusing farm status with “easy”.
Not sure why you think it is “all of a sudden”
The game has been slowly bleeding players for the entire year. We got basically no content with the current method. Clearly the metrics showed that it wasn’t working. So instead they have been working on an expansion.
Yeah think i might wait for market to stabilize and see if they hopefully increase the drop rate to counter the sudden rise in demand for them
They already raised the drop rate in anticipation for this. Notice how they have been dropping in price for the last month… I’m pretty sure they will stabilize pretty soon though.
I don’t see the point in making an old legendary, I wouldn’t even pay 1000g for one now. Everyone has them, and you can just buy them off the TP. I’m hoping these new legendary weapons are account bound, and the precursors are from the quest only.
Prices will fall further when they unveil the new models in the upcoming weeks.
I have been getting as much currency and base mats as I can so I can be sure to be ready, though I have nothing even close to what Vol has…
I’m more interested in what is going to happen to legendary prices… Normal skins won’t change that much. Some of the BL skins may move a little, but I suspect they will stabilize pretty quickly.
The current generation of legendaries is probably going to quickly drop in price. I see no reason to have a legendary that anyone can buy off the TP when precursor scavenger hunt is coming with new legendaires. Hopefully they are account bound, and actually take skill to acquire.
So, what do we do until HoT is released?

Stockpile EVERYTHING.
My goal is:
250 of every mat
3000g
3 million karma
100 laurels
100 guild comms
500 of each dungeon token
I figure that should have me all set and ready.
Based on other MMO’s revamping old content is probably not until the 3rd or 4th expansion.
April or August are my guesses. I’d love to see it for April, but August seems more likely.
Revenant: Lowbong, sword, hammer
err?
https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en
It’s what he’s holding in the announcement concept art
I think that’s a sword. Look just above his hand. To me that looks like a crossguard.
If this is the pic you’re talking about https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en#section-revenant
I think you are right, removed longbow for now. can’t believe I missed that typo not once but twice lol. I was riding along too fast on the hype train.
They said challenging group content that will be organized from the guild hall for guilds… they won’t call it raids since that has a stigma attached to it, but it will be the same thing.

sounds like just in the jungle. But either way it is not flight, it is just falling with style.
Here is what I saw based on the trailer, feel free to add to it.
Ranger: Staff
Mesmer: shield
Engineer: Hammer
Revenant: sword, hammer
Necro: Greatsword

My slyvari is already fully converted to serve the dragon!
I would love to know what blue dye you use to match the staff. I have been trying to match the blue of my GS for awhile but the account I have it on doesn’t have a lot of dyes and previewing them all in the preview panel become cumbersome =D
I use turquoise to match the blue, with swampblack to match the green. That is on “plant” material though, it will vary with the fabric choice somewhat.
EA is taking over.
oh man… don’t even joke about that…
HoT is actually a new trading card game…
I’m assuming it’s double XP from kills.
Which would be basically nothing because kills hardly give any exp anyway.
If they dont double the exp from events, hearts, exploration, gathering, crafting, etc its going to be worthless.
Kills add up. They really do.
Let’s so you do an event and get XP from the event. But during the event you kill 20 or 25 creatures. All those creatures add up. They make the event that much stronger. XP boosters make leveling faster and they only work on kills, so I’m not sure why you think it would be worthless.
You will level faster.
Edit: Not to mention if you kill stuff with a high bonus, which I often do while leveling, it’s quite easy to get experience fast.
That would be disappointing considering that none of the high level events give xp on kills anymore. I’d rather they just turn off DR on events for the weekend to be honest, that way I can play in SW for more than 20 minutes without getting hit with it.
The answer is simply Esports. this game WILL be an esport, at ANY cost, even if they have to destroy PvE to get there.
Looks like they want to add another rocket booster to the hype train…Man if this train crashes I don’t think there will be anything left…
Words evolve, time to stop living in the 80’s. Meta means exactly what everything thinks it means because that has become the common accepted definition.
Let me see a raise of hands. When was the last time anybody stepped foot in to a GameStop?
Why must all this “expansion” talk always revolve around a boxed commodity. Digital content is best delivered digitally. It is very unlikely that there is anybody playing GW2 or any modern MMO for that matter, that still utilizes their slow dial-up connection as an excuse.
Back on topic: Living Story is just as it was billed. There are no conspiracy theories here to be picked apart. IMO, new content should continue to be delivered this way. I spend a lot of $$ money on the BLTP. I am not excited about having to shell out $50-$70 for an expansion. Especially after I’ve already spent 10 x that much on gems and other items. $$ which is being spent on content for people who haven’t spent a penny since their initial purchase of the game.
so what you are saying is:
“please take my money and offer me nothing meaningful in return, I don’t want my money to be used to make actual game content”
And this seems like a good idea to you?
I don’t see the point of this. Here is the effect it will have:
1. Take months of development time
2. Deprive us of new content
3. Break pretty much every PvE system in the game
4. Introduce 100’s if not 1000’s of bugs
5. Change nothing meaningful about the game
So i’m gunna have to go ahead and say… kitten no.
Originally their goal for the LW was to replace expansions. However they fell FAR FAR short of that goal, and I think they have realized that. We will know for certain on Saturday, but it seems they have abandoned their original idea and are now going to use the LW as a build up to an expansion. (or at least we hope, either that or they want to doom the game to an early death)
I keep my emp frag eater, my bloodstone eater, 2 BLSK’s, 2 Mystic kits, 4 basic salvage kits, zephyrite keys, geodes, and usually some luck at the top of my inventory.
At the bottom of my inventory I have: Combat boosters, currency boosters, revive orbs, bank access express, TP express, vendor express, Quaggan transform, skritt transform, extra weapon sets, Bandit crests, bandit keys, extractors, repair canisters, and a few things I am forgetting atm…
Overall my “empty” inventory is at 48/150.
Best choice is to finish it up and sell it on the TP. You will already have a second world exploration gift since you get 2 per completion. You will have enough money to straight up buy the gift of fortune and the legend, you will just need to get more stuff for the gift of mastery.
Take advantage of the log in reward final chest to get mystic clovers and obsidian shards.
As an addendum OP, you salvaged 145 ectos for 279 dust.
Owned…
Thanks for the info… also that is a lot of ectos… and that is just ectos that people salvaged… I can’t imagine the number that people actually used… though to be honest I can’t image 863,000 either.
2500 isn’t really a large sample size. 250,000 maybe, but not 2500. There are 100,000’s of ectos passing through the market every day, and a nerf would be evident in the prices of dust and ectos. Since they haven’t changed I can say with absolute certainty that it has not been nerfed, you just got a bad streak.
The one time there was a bug with ectos it was very quickly reflected in the market price.
Also… kit does not effect the ecto→dust conversion. You wasted a lot of money on kits.
It is a fair and legitimate complaint. Unfortunately the Achievements chest were a casualty of the PvP revamp. You used to get 8-10 skins for your wardrobe with each chest, the removed that with the PvP revamp and they didn’t replace it with anything. So now the best and only worthwhile part of the chests has been removed and they never bothered to fix it.
People seem to think Anet is somehwo unaware that this will hit defense builds harder than zerker builds… that is the POINT of these changes.
Being a bunker was supposed to result in less damage output, however thanks to might stacking bunkers could have both high defense and high damage. This nerf is almost entirely to reduce the effectiveness of bunker builds that have become more and more popular in PvP. It also is to tone down the damage in PvE since everything dies so fast and prevents no challenge.
That’s kind of the point of the changes OP…
Currently you can wear full defense gear, with full defensive traits and still do a crap ton of dmg since might is so OP… it is supposed to be a tradeoff. If you spec for full defense then you are supposed to do next to no damage. This is fixing that to bring the risk/reward structure back in line.
