Bad idea!
Time limit the transactions in itself will help drive prices down since more items will compete for the “knife blade” price, I don’t see the reason why you want to penalize people for not getting their items sold in addition to that.
Unless you specifically are after high priced goods and want to punish anyone who wants to sell them…
Might stacking for a warrior usually relies on extending might duration and Forceful Greatsword and then stacking crit chance. You can get 25 stacks of might in aoe situations solo…
However in group play this kind of stacking might be undesirable since these mights are very shortlived and will cancel out might stacks from other players. But it all depends on your playstyle and group.
Sorry but I can understand the underlying problem with having high level zerg trains running in low level areas thereby disrupting any new/low level game experience.
As such I dont mind people trolling zergs at all (its not like they really suffer from it) and if they are on such a fixed timetable they cant take disruptions then I def. say get out of the lowbie areas.
In theory I would agree but if you managed to scrounge up any good soul bound items then it might not be an option, and yes maybe people should have realized that before they did but that’s beside the point and as such isn’t relevant to this thread.
- Reset all skill selections
- Unequip all gear (no space in bags then cant confirm change)
- Use generic race appearance (have to use a makeover kit to customize)
When it comes to the personal story you would have to reset it to zero and include personal choice in the race change process. This would make it possible to redo these “quests” over and over with multiple race change contracts (this could maybe be exploited to farm exp/keys so a limit on how many race changes are possible/timeframe might be required).
Just go….
/m Hey troll is up…
wait 10s
/m And its gone…
Im sorry but you cant go anything but GS in PvE, the plain aoe dmg it produces is unmatched in any of the other weapons. As for offhand you have a number of choices, MH mace is surprisingly powerful (if you go the whole chain), same with sword. However the vulnerability of the axe/mace is what keeps this as a goto for grouping (and mace 5 is just awesome).
For WvW and PvP its all about mobility and nothing else and you should select your skillset based on being mobile and keep being mobile (means condition cleansing is needed)
Do a search, there are a number of builds listed for different purposes and targeted play style. In the end it comes down to know-how (if you keep dying its most likely not only your build that’s at fault)
Hey I solod them a while back, im a warrior tho but at the time I thought I had to hit the minimum kill goal for silver as well so you can imagine I made it a bit tougher than I needed.
However thats not why i am posting, I was just curious as to wether you felt there was any difference between the two on lvl 4? I just felt that the Evon lvl4 was a lot tougher than Kiel lvl4
Why does it seem that people are more tolerant of non-max efficient team compositions in fractals than ‘regular’ dungeons? Is there just simply something special about fractals that allows for a broader range of classes/builds to excel?
Min/Maxing in dungeons is about speed runs for profit, ie. repeated runs for gold in most cases. Thats not why people run fractals, its mostly for skins from the chests and you have a limited amount of tries per day for this.
Also most fracs are more about know how than dps optimization…
Yeah, feel the same for my Charr Guardian, def. +1 for race change kit
True, in some cases. I have seen Karka spawn directly, dont know if it depends on which phase the game is in or if its location.
For instance late in one game someone camped out in the boat, I ran off grabbed whats needed came back and spawned a karka inside the boat. It spawned directly without any warning…
Making them only usable/pickup by the warrior is clunky, if a banner warrior drops 3 banners then there is no good way to move them.
Would be kinda cool if they could be carried on the back on players, then warriors could dump X banners that would only come to full use if the group are in range of each other (players carrying a banner each)
Ofcourse this makes stacking even more popular…
Hey the Karka and Torment traps are fine, however when it comes to things that has this much power (instagib) fair warning has to be made. For karka for instance maybe a ground shake to alert of its coming, that way even a karka+trap could be survivable (a good player would assume a trap as well and try to avoid)
Shouldnt worry that much, I have moved several k and not had an issue.
Well you can theorize about the cost per skin, for simplicity I will only consider scraps in this example…
- 5 keys for 450 jewels, ie 1 key for 90.
- 100 jewels cost about 3g 23s 49c
- Assuming 25% chance of a scrap
This brings the cost per scrap to around 11.64g and you need 10 for a full ticket so assuming scraps only youll have a minimum cost per skin at 116g (will most likely be around 150g).
Now assuming you can farm one key in 20 minutes, and you need 40 for one ticket, that brings it to around 13h per skin, so you could have a potential earning at 10g an hour.
And ofcourse if you get lucky and get a full ticket it gets to be a lot more… However I am not sure about the chance to get one, I assume it goes thru these gating events;
- Ticket chance 25%
- If a ticket has been triggered, 1% chance of a full otherwise scrap
Its roughly how the upgrade logic in the MF works so I assume theyll do the same here, ofc. the 1% after the first gating event might be wrong and it might be adjusted so the average chance is 1%
(edited by aeneq.1760)
I see key farming for skins to sell as a viable gold earner…
Hey, I think people read too much into what the OP says. He doesnt say anything about stacking or los pulls, he specifically mentions standing in a corner going pew-pew without the boss hitting back.
With that I consider his meaning being staying out of aggro and glitching the bosses to not behave as intended (ie killing players).
I must say that I havent really run into this that much, Arah mostly and there are a few frac bosses that can be glitched but usually these take so much longer time that any valid group just prefer to do the normal way.
As a rule I agree with he OP, however I thank the heavens for any glitch in Arah due to the silly runback time in case of wipes…
Or add CAPTCHAs.
Only method I can think of to disallow image recognition type automated TP usage….it would be a PitA for humans, but would both slow down the TP a tad and thwart automated trading (until someone figured out how to get around it…I doubt it’s impossible).
It’s not only possible, but trivial.
Any idea involving CAPTCHAs, is a terrible idea.
Yeah wouldnt be an option in this case, the same API thats used by third part applications are also used by the ingame TP browser for such simple things as listings/searchings… Wonder how many would be ok with a captcha popup ingame every time you access it…
What you describe is probably not a bot. If it was, there must be more than one. What would happen if 2 bots were buying the same thing?

all within a few minutesbtw: a bot wouldn’t be sitting in LA searching the TP. There are web interfaces for placing buy orders and getting item prices. (such as spidy API)
Most bots have higher/lower limits for how far they are allowed to take things… an unsupervised bot without limits would be a big risk for a user…
Hey
There has been tools around for sometime that allow for the tracking of a users posted listings and alert of they are over/underbid (just check the app stores).
With that said there are a very simple reason why someone could instantly react to your changes.
On the topic of “real” bots (the one I described above is not considered a bot) there are no way that anyone sane would suggest writing code that runs on a players machine and analysing what he is doing. Period.
Writing a tool on the backend that tracks/alerts for usage on a specific account (like listing requests every 10 seconds) is def. doable, however that would also cover the “alert” apps listed above (as well as gw2spidy).
In short you would have to pair the known listings for an account with the number of listing queries and track each items change in price in correlation to speed of change and frequency.
This is most likely NOT doable with the large customer database/trading post players out there todo in a general way. It would be more likely that they would have to change the trading post API not to work with third party applications which means a redesign of the current backend (which they most likely will not do).
There is afaik two strategies to flip
- Look for items that are “valuabe”, things like weapons/armor that a levelling usually buys (ie strong/berserker) and try to buy them cheap and sell high.
- Look at market trends and anticipate these, this usually means looking at the flow of the playerbase which correlates to content releases and hope you can predict an increase in need for specific items (like quartz for instance, if this is needed to craft ascended in the future then the price will most likely go up)
Either way it can be a lot of work always monitoring the TP for changes and wether your orders are undercut etc etc. I myself did a stint which was very profitable but I ended up standing in the auction house for all my gaming time.
bump I def. would prefer them to be account bound, as an altaholic I never know which will be my “main” and I dont see the point grinding for a legendary for a character I wont use it for.
I see the change to account bound as a way to open up a whole new part of playing called legendary hunters. I have three atm, spread over two characters and if these were account bound I def. would play more with the intent of getting as many as possible.
I’m sure the first thing on ArenaNet’s mind is how to progress the game forward so players like you can flaunt and have bragging rights over being at higher level fractals. I’ve been in a 30+ group and it’s nothing but skipping every mob pack and skipping some fractals entirely. There’s nothing to brag about.
Oh and to the original question I have no idea.
You have been in 30+ group, saying it like that is inferring that you don’t normally do fractals but just tagged along which is weird that a group would take you since at lvl 30 you’d die from agony and your usefulness would be nill…
Makes me doubt your statement completely.
Then do the grind then for the 16 achievements without doing the JPs there are 16 alternatives.
1. Strangers from the Sky
2. Voyage to the Bazaar
3. Ascent to Zephyr Sanctum
4. Diverse Trader
5. Grandmaster of Om
6. Sanctum Sprint
7. Parachute Pilferer
8. Kookoochoo the Incredulous
9. Poor Man’s Kite
10. Kite Bombing
11. Colossal Kites
12. Like Clockwork
13. Crowd Favorite
14. Crystal Obsessed
15. Pickup Completionist
16. Lessons from the Sky/Speedy Sprinter/Sanctum Sprinter/Kites of Iron/Kites of the Night/Best. Dive. Ever.….
I think you didnt do it, 50% of thing you posted are in jp ! ;/
Ok the only one in the list that could be argued would be a JP would be Kite Bombing, however you are not doing the JP in the intended form (you are supposed to get a bomb over to the chest without being hit). As a JP its extremely hard but just to get to the kite its a simple path and no tricky jumping.
From your comment I assume you are considering Sanctum Sprint to be a JP and its not, its a race and most achievements in there is about repetition (except getting first). Also its crucial to the bazaar backstory and shows how the new “skills” they have are used.

If you going to quote a strategy from Dulfy.net, you should list the source. http://dulfy.net/2013/07/08/gw2-belchers-bluff-activity-guide/#more-46277I guess luck /RNG is on your side. I been doing it for like 3hrs and no luck.
Never claimed it was my strategy tho, and yes I maybe should have mentioned Dulfy but on the other hand that is the major online source for GW2 so one could almost say that was inferred.
Also I have seen similar content in other strategies not from Dulfy, now if Dulfy was the original source or not I have no idea.
But that said yes maybe I should have pointed to the Dulfy belching achievement guide as a reference.
No it wont loose it, it will just stay at the original world. As stated guilds are not world specific but upgrades/influence is. Similarly if a guild spans multiple worlds then they dont share upgrades/infl.
RNGing belcher bluff will not work. There are strategies listed online for all of these…
Adnul is quite hard to defeat due to his special move which prevent you from using Bluff for three rounds. Additionally, Adnul love to use his Belch on your heals. It may take you quite a few attempts to defeat him.
- The signature move best used against him is Boast from Caiwyn. Use this skill when you are at very low health and forced to drink due to Adnul’s buff.
- Watch for his buff and try to get in Bluffs between his buffs to prevent taking damage from drinking.
I did him in my 7th try I believe, basically bluff like crazy when you can, dont use your other abilities and save those for when you cant bluff and then as specified when you have to drink and are on low health use the Boast skill first.

And as for #2 goes, how is that any different than how it is now? If it was 10k ap to get a precursor or even the entire legendary weapon then at least you’d be able to see that you’re making progress towards it. Right now you are either extremely lucky and got one via RNG, grinded upwards of 1000 hours, flipped items on the market, or a combination of all of those.
SO MUCH FUN.
At present you can atleast buy most of the stuff, even the PC you can either buy the PC directly or do the MF dance but still. With AP there is no shortcut youll HAVE to grind like crazy.
Really I meant in more of a inst I don’t want to say Dungeon cause then people are saying your forcing me to run dungeons! But more like the story mode inst, with the Giant of Kudzu wielding his/hers own bow… you kill him/her get their token and move to the next one. only after you have all the mats and kill the last legendary boss can you loot the legendary weapon. Can’t be a farm cause you still need all the pre rec mats to get it. I just think there needs to be some epic killing tied to the epic legendary. not some mystic loo…
If you say that all the mats are the same then this is just another “story mode” to get the legendary and although a nice idea it has nothing todo with the OP. And if your proposal eliminates the precursor req. then the proposed solution is too easy since you basically remove the PC but doesnt add anything hard to replace it.
Doh… the point there would be the story eliminates the precursor. Or the need for the precursor. The precursor is not hard… its luck. You could get it on your first try, or you may never get it.
The PC in its current form isnt hard but its limited, thus making it harder to get the legendary weapon. If you replace it with generic content that has no equivalent difficulty associated with it then its a bad idea.
My second legendary was like: Oh let’s buy all mats from trading post, skill points check, karma check, tockens check. Here you are . 2 hours to legendary.
Not quite true, your assembly took 2 hours but you didnt take the karma/skill/gold/token farm into consideration, true you might have had it already but still.

Tyria has already got a tonne of lore and figures it can draw upon in order to create back stories for the Legendaries. Extra wouldn’t need to be created. For example, this Bow belonged to Pyre Fierceshot. Pyre is, for all purposes, a figure of legend, rebelling against his overlords.
I meant from a development perspective, the lore is the easy part.
As for the quest-chain being too easy, you could, with a little effort and imagination, implement a grind within one, as well as make players play the current content, but in a different way.
For example, players have to have x stacks of the debuff Jormag applies. Every y seconds, a piece of Orichalcum / some other material gets infused with the essence. Dying would make all the Orichalcum that got infused lose it’s essence. This Orichalcum can then be taken to Sorrow’s Embrace. Getting hit by the Forgemaster’s heat laser turns the ore into an Ingot. These ingots can then be taken to some ancient blacksmith in Mount Maelstrom, where they’ll forge the basic form of the precursor.
Not only are you keeping the time-consuming aspect, but because you’re adding all these little bits in (which, arguably, could represent the ‘skill’ aspect, since you got little room for error if you’re going for it), you can actually reduce the item grind.
I personally like your thinking more from a backstory for the weapon, however the example here leads to super groups where guildies, “mercenary groups” or specific classes can achieve this.
A simpler way would maybe to allow for the base precursor to be crafted, then it would have to be infused with account bound random drops (or low volume static drops) from bosses from either specific dungeons, or all dungeons or lords in WvW.
This Power Infusion machanism can also logically explained when creating the legendary instead of the “here you go” approach in using the MF.
A side benefit is that it forces people to do dungeons/wvw that promotes group play. However I know people who hate both of these and thus wouldnt have any means to get a legendary (well they could still buy it I assume)
Thinking about it, most PVE content is very favorable for certain classes (Warrior, Guardian, Mesmer etc.) which in turn would make it harder for certain classes. The current RNG setup is on one hand irritating but on the other hand it treats all equal
(edited by aeneq.1760)
…
This… The weapon should have a reason its called a legendary. Put it in the hands of a world boss and require a token from all the world bosses carrying a legendary. limit the amount of participants allowed in the map for the event and if you add a new legendary add a token you need to list of tokens it took to get a legendary. You can still require all the rest of the grinding items just add this to the list. Oh and when its time to turn in your tokens, you turn them in at the dead bosses corpse not some magical toilet.too much? :-)
World bosses are to easy, also they are open to anyone (heck I can get kill credit on all of them from lvl 1)
If you then say you use the token you got to unlock access to another “legendary” boss then its still to easy and super PVE groups would sell open slots to these “events” for a fee and thus make it farmable.
They are legendary because of rarity not for any backstory, if you accept that as a premise then the grind/cost is what makes them legendary. Removing this grind/cost would have to mean by replacing it with something else equally hard and although I have seen a lot of complaints I have yet to see any real suggestion.
- Replacing it with a long questchain is too easy (dont mention WoW leg grind is famous here and the mount example was only valid for a very short time and not applicable here)
- Replacing it with an achievement level (like over 10k atleast) would make it inaccessible for most people.
However I like the idea of an associated questline for a backstory to the weapon but I think it might be too much to ask for given the volume of legends)
As mentioned these are NOT daily chests, these are given every 500 achievement points and are atm doing their retroactive thing. When i reaches your current AP level you will not get any more…
Yet another incentive to grind AP to get the “missing” items only available thru this reward model.
No you cant get rewards higher than your personal level, but that said there is no diff between 38 and 30 (except for fractal relics maybe). So you only need to complete 3 more fracs.
Worse than that
On swap and On Crit share cooldown, so in essence swapping weapons puts Blood on a 10 sec. cooldown, if you swap often mixing oncrit and onswap is a bad idea.
And blood is not every 2sec, data puts it around every 7sec.
Lifesteal builds have been tested before and has of yet to prove themselves…

0r 10-20-30-40 or 12-20-38-44 or…
Any fractal in the range x*10 to x*10+y*2 where x is bigger than 0 and y is 0,1,2,3 or 4 will yield a daily chest for each unique x.
(edited by aeneq.1760)
I assume Lionsguard Jenny was alive at the end? Thats otherwise one of the requirements for the achievement…
I have run into a feeling and I dont know if this is a shared sentiment amongst many players or if its just me.
After doing the personal storyline, done the legendary thing, earned a ton of gold on the TP, done fractals, dabbled in spvp, done the usual wvw, got 80 in all classes etc. etc. etc. I have realize I am just going through the motions.
The new content is nice and fun for a while, particularly the mad clock tower was glorious and the new storyline with Dragon Bash noir detective story was very good.
However I am missing several things that I feel would keep me going (atm I just started chasing achievement points to get something todo and I am running out of those as well).
So here are my suggestions…
- The living story is great but considering that you are a very major player in the political environment of Tyra after the personal storyline I feel that the new content should be more storyline driven, either in a better dialog due to your status or new permanent content related to your personal story. I realise this causes a split in the game flow one for the “commander” and one for everyone else.
- WvW probably need a better engaging competition mode, tangiable server or top guild awards.
- I hate to say this but an armory would def. help keeping players active, both investigating traits/builds for PvE, WvW and PvP competition and for cosmetics purposes.
No point making this thread into another “Whats wrong with the game” there are plenty of them around already and they all come down to the “Sense of achievement” issue in endgame scenarios.
is there a way to “speed level”?
the lack of ANYBODY leveling up(at least from what i’ve seen) is disheartening :/
Well yes there are; if you have the money/gold for it. If you level all professions to max you will hit 80 without running around killing mobs. This is the fastest way to 80…
However this costs quite a lot of gold and you still need karma to get the final recipies that takes you from 375 to 400 crafting.
If you however want to level up the normal route then the trick is doing ALL dynamic events you encounter, this is the best way to gain xp and karma while actually playing.
Depends on the scenario, primarily you’d go GS/axe+mace (have to look into sword) but if you deem 100% melee time problematic in a situation then I swap in one ranged, rifle primarily for single target scenarios (#3 is really good) and I do long bow if its more of an aoe situation.
With a weapon swap cd reduction this works out quite nice, however if you are stuck at a 10s cd then I suggest not swapping.
If you want high dmg explosions you should look at rifle/axe+mace, with two abilities such as signet of fury and healing surge you can do two f2 in a short amount of time that each does a lot of dmg.
In pvp youll rarely have time to build adrenaline in a weapon rotation and in pve youll only do killshots as a final hurrah before the boss dies and is kinda pointless.
Strong feelings eh? Anyhoo, the OP was about the legality of offering a service such as this (which there are people asking for) not whether someone thought it was a good or bad idea according to their personal opinions…
I think I got my answer tho, that said there are technical issues around getting this working in a fluent manner so I doubt I will find the time.
Difference is that it might be alot cheaper (15% of a precursor or legendary is quite a lot) but the biggest factor is person to person trading.
I am still at a loss why ANet hasnt provided this, even with the list/sales tax as part of it.
