[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
first time hitting up Orr yesterday and got a bunch of crystalline dust from mob drops.
good luck!! : )) run with some MF and it should drop for you quite a bit – of course, that being said, to ge tto 250+ won’t be done over night
don’t quote me, but i heard you can get them with tokens of some sort? which aren’t available yet. but at least we know the vendor exists after personal story! supposedly ANet was going to implement a token system, ala gw1 (which i didn’t play though)? and if this goes forward, which i assume so, cause again the vendor is there, they’ll do it retroactively as well, so if you’ve already completed personal story, you’ll get it then as well
looking forward to getting my hands on the PACT hammer or pact ANYTHING!
i’ve formed more than one groups / parties with random people even out in open field PvE. i usually do so if i see the person more or less running around the same general area i am. you can tell if they’re going for map competion, doing chain events, etc.. i just /s ask if they wanna party and let ‘em know what i’m up to, and send an invite. worst is they’ll just decline. i’ve been pretty lucky though.
i’v partied with people:
- making my way to cursed shore and arah dungeon with a random group (made it easier and we all had similar goals)
- doing map completion and jumping puzzles
- just doing random farming and DEs
and once you find a good group, and you’re usually online at the same time, you can get a steady group going : ))
i had auto-attack on, i still spammed. i guess i like feeling like i’m doing something? lol.
that being said, i play a hammer (Guardian) and sometimes it’s more beneficial to time my #1 attacks. additionally, while playing dungeons, at certain points you don’t want to pull certain enemies to you yet and with autoattack (this is more for ranged weapons or skills) you can accidentally alert mobs you didn’t want to aggro and then everyone’s just like -______-’’’"""|||
so i do spam 1
D
hey, not sure if this answers your question. so i’m assuming you placed an order for an item (which takes the gold out of your bank right when you place the order)?
you can check the tabs on the TP (the one that looks like a sheet of paper with lines/notes) which iirc are your transactions. and then on the drop down, click on “Items i’m Buying”. i don’t remember the exact wording, but you should be able to cancel your offer and get the gold back. hope this helps!
doode, this is awesome. : ))) keeping this up there!!!
seems like this is taking off strong already!
Name: Akamon
Main Character: Akaimon (Guardian)
Current Server: Sanctum of Rall!
Interested Activities: pretty much everything they have to offer in gw2! farming, roaming, map completion, chasing events, chasing dragons, LOVE fighting bosses/champs, dungeons (need them tokens!), WvW, jumping puzzles.. the one thing i haven’t really done yet is sPvP. maybe one day. i’ll even just do nothing and chill out, have dance parties, what not.
Active: Play mainly evenings Hong Kong time and most of the weekends (time conversion – 12 hr ahead of EST, so i’d be on in the mornings according to US server times)
Additional Comments: I am collecting all dyes, and will give out free ones on /m whenever i get a dupe! no matter common or rare. lol; shameless in talking in /m or /s, inviting random players into party (if i see you around enough or have been running in the same general direction for over 30 secs) and asking for directions
Are you willing to participate in Operation: UNION’S project, Y/N?: most definitely YES!
hope to see even more active players in this thread, as well as joining Glitch’s guild. bettering the game through better ourselves and the community. i love this game. it’s been extremely fun going solo, but you get a whole nother experience playing in a group. : ))) i think to a certain extent, the way it’s meant to be played. by no means would i classify myself as an expert at the game, i’m continulally l-ing2p, lol, but always willing to offer help where i can. the game is truly what we make it.
i did the same first leveing my main. i got the skills i wanted the most. though you’ll need the 5 to unlock the next tier iirc. eventually i started just unlocking all the rest after i got all the skills that i was interested in (who knows! you may fall in love with a skill you’d never thought you’d enjoy ; )).
though i’ll make a short mention here, if you’re planning on going for a legendary or crafting other exotics, you’ll actually need skillpoints to purcahse stuff from Miyani (NPC) near the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch. so maybe that’s something you want to keep in mind as well.
scepter and staff is not NECESSARY in WvW. but it helps in the situations where it calles for it. for e.g. when defending a keep, you can dmg your invaders while on top of the wall or behind the gate using either or. though i’ve seen many choose to pop out of the gate, cause a little chaos and then roll back in. depends on how much risk you wanna take.
i personally run with hammer and scepter/focus or shield as my second set. i continually switch around sets too. the hammer is my only constant. sometimes i’ll run with staff as my back up, or scepter + or even GS. depends on the situation, depnds on your objective (taking a supply camp vs defending, etc), depends on how many people are in your group, or how many invaders are you going to be up against
the sylvari Guardian is frigging awesome!
this is all personal preference no? though i still can’t help but feel that beef Guardians are more, well.. beefy lol. i think it works the way it is.
but good to see a range of Guards! particularly happy whenever i come across an Asuran Guardian
D
glad i’m not the only one who’s experiencing forum bugs. but not glad they are present. lol.
anyways, haha, that’s awesome! actually one can do decent damage when defending keeps. as said, pop out, cause a little havoc, rush back in. most of the time, most people will be so focused on the gate, they won’t even know what hit them until you’ve started leaving already. though i see more and more people hanging back a little looking for people like this so just be careful and don’t get caught!
- Tome of Wrath works wonders on the wall, and even while on the road and pushing enemies back!
- the staff is decent but i prefer the scepter and shield (if the gate needs a bit of help, i want to believe you can hit #5 right up at the gate and should push everyone back. i keep immobilizing behind the gate as well as drop #2s from behind the gate. staff #1 spam can be good too. especially if you can find a group of guardians to do the same. don’t forget you can use #4 to charge up first
- i spam scepter #2 on siege they are building and usually does a pretty good job. a few times i’ve stopped siege’s being built (of course, coupled with the help of my awsome allies and THEIR AoE’s
- wall of reflect or line of warding can prove useful as well in certain situations. even if ranged know that WoR is up, it at least stops them from attacking for a bit
- i love taking stragglers out too. not saying i like being a bully, but having two ranged immobilizes hammer #3 and scepter #3 helps a lot in not letting enemies get away when you’ve gained the upper hand
defs get a lot of my kills from defending towers / keeps alone!
HEY HO! that’s aweoms, Glitch, haha. haven’t done enough AC runs but there’s a cae troll you can train onto the Lt.??
still around here as well. will look into the guild once i get back on Tyria. glad this is getting off to a start, and hopeflly will take off. hope to see you guys on there!
D
a few more moments in Tyria from this past weekend:
- more grouping with randoms and just running around doing events. 2 Norns teamed up with an Asuran. atone point, we were reaching a vista. after climbing some small rocks, we found a Charr sleeping up top! who eventually joined us on our “aimless” quest. haha pretty fun stuff, ran some events together, farmed a bit and just in general had a good time. pretty good chemistry too! gw2 is pretty diff when going solo vs running with people. all i did was both times ask if they wanted to run with us! and i just sent them a party invite. i figured worse would be they would just decline. but got more than lucky
D
- while solo-ing mid-afternoon on a Saturday, i found myself stuck in a cave full of dredge, and looking for a Vista. i kept seeing the same Asura running around, and i assumed he was looking for the Vista as well. later on a Human comes by as well, and we’re both like “where is the vistaaaaaa” and then the Asura shows up again and was like “this way!” so we follow. and he starts leading us. i unfortunately fall after forgetting to take off “double tap to evade” lol cause some jumping was involved (not really XDDD) and i was like “go ahead don’t wait i’ll figure it out!” but when i got back up to where i fell, the Asura was still waiting for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :OOOOOO and we made it to the top together. and there was a veteran / champ, i forget, we took ’em out and looted the chest nearby. mega nice as so often in MMOs or in GW2 people are always rushing off places to farm the next node.. to see someone, a complete stranger, take the time out to wait for me – few and far between
- continually giving out free dye in SoR! lol
great contest OP. kudos to your efforts and i commend you.
you’ll still remain in Tyria, right? feel free to reach out if you ever need any help. though i don’t feel i can make too big of a diff with the amount of resources i have available. but like someone mentioned, if you have a large enough effort!
and good luck to all. : )))
just wanted to say, thanks for the share and congrats to those that have achieved this already!
D
gonna have to decide between this or a legendary hammer.. hmm or both lol
gonna be a while then

This just happened to my wife’s account as well. Coming back home from a long day’s work, looking forward to playing together, and she gets the same message – account been terminated due to tampering with the game. with NO warning whatsoever! At least we know now it’s a wide-spread problem. Hopefully ANet will be able to figure this out ASAP and that everyone’s account isn’t truly “terminated”. Surely they have backup files and what not, no?
all eyes on you ANet. We know you guys are working hard. Hope to hear soon again.
p.s. for those who said they received the same message, my wife can’t even log into the forums right now / or sign in with her ANet account anywhere.. how are you guys doing so? just logged on like normal?
added: and of course, she’s been as legit as a player can be. we report bots and spammers and gold-sellers as often as we can to, hoping to creating a better place and helping ANet’s cause.. so can’t help but feel pretty disappointed about this. fingers crossed.
hmm just realized i should probs have summarized more since that’s a huge wall of text. (and you mentioned the other thread was hard enough to read already O____o oops lol)
i guess that thread can be slightly content heavy. lol. i would say DO spend some time there though, if you can plough through all of that. some great folk in there with great insight and experience.
i myself am a hammer user and have been using it even before the crit build “showed up”. i love the greatsword as well and sometimes, when i want to “feel” like i’m killing faster, or just attack faster, i’ll use GS but in general the hammer is my main and WAY too much fun.
1) i use the hammer cause i love it
D
- great control, good burst, and actually very good DPS, especially with a crit build
- constant protection especially if you trait for larger, longer lasting and even healing symbols, and or short 2h cool downs
- easy self combo with #1 and #2
- AoEs with your hits as well with good dmg
2) definitely very viable! and very very fun imho. give it a shot if you can and just know that it does take a little getting used to. also, the build itself is not a must have this, must have that, but rather you can mould it to the way you like playing with some core aspects of it
3) i was running a 0/15/30/20/5 build and recently switched to a 0/5/30/30/5 build and will say you can supplment and get your crit % up via gear. a lot of people go for knight’s armor and then supplment vitality in jewelry if you will. i’m still working on this myself.
just some extra random stuff:
- a huge complaint about the hammer was the #1 (auto attack chain skill) chain was too slow to connect from hit2 to hit3. but you get used to it and can actually add more versatility in terms of how you play. for e.g. the time in between hit2 and hit3 allows me to reposition myself and drop the symbol where more of my allies are standing, thus better utilising the skill.
after reading Brutaly’s write-up, i’ve started to incorporate dodges inbetween the chains as well, which allows for “seamless” chain attack and mighty blow, while healing if traited for it
- mighty blow is very very strong imo. and a great finisher. if you have an ele nearby? you’ll see water splashing and flames bursting every time you pull this.
- many say #3, #4 and #5 are situational, which they are so put ‘em to good use!
—> #3 is great vs bosses or kiting mobs or in WvW when a straggler is trying to get away. #3, and then #2 bam you’re in their face.
—> #4 is great to thin out mobs or knock ‘em away when you need a bit of breathing room or helping out an ally. for a little fun, try it with judge’s intervention cause this skill doesn’t cancel out #4’s charge up/channeling. can surprise many players in PvP / WvW. so u hit #4, judge’s intervention, and then all of a sudden you’re in their face with fire and smack ‘em away; also too fun trying to smash people off cliffs
—> #5 i like to hit 5, and then 4 so you see them just bouncing off the walls and not going out of range so people can keep laying DPS on mobs; another use is during some DE events where you have to protect a camp, you just lay one of these in the doorway and you’ll see enemies toppling over as they mindlessly run into the bubble and you guys can smash at ’em
not sure if these answer your questions lol. and i got slightly carrieda way but hope this helps! feel free to answer more specific questions and am sure more will chime in.
@Lumines – that’s what i’m going for now sort of. not sure how the numbers will turn out but i guess you could try to do some quick math. or maybe someone out there can directly answer you. : )))
iirc, i was able to break 15k HP using a different hammer, which gave me massive HP, but of course, you lose out on other stats. this was with 4/6 or 5/6 knight’s and 1 valkyrie piece. my jewelry are still all low level and i haven’t really upgraded them yet.
thanks for the reply Hjulstad. that’s very true and so far it’s been working out well. i might try a full our knight’s piece and mess around with rare armor before i fully invest in an exotic set.
i have started to save up different armor sets in my bank though, for reasons you stated exactly. : ))
i guess the same goes for sigils in terms of what kind of play style i want. i have extra hammers as well (collecting skins i enjoy if you will lol) so i might try throwing in different sigils in them to see what works best then. just wanted an opinion or rather, discussion on what other hammer users have found fun or useful : ))
i can’t imagine using a Charr either. since they seem to be a lot wider, whereas Norns are just massively tall. my Norn’s almost maxed height and i did have troubles with troll’s end or in small spaces in general. though i mainly feel it’s the camera “at fault”. and if we want to be realistic it only makes sense if it’s harder for a Norn to do jumping puzzles. : ))
don’t get me wrong, i do rage, without the quit, lol. but eventually i did TE jumping puzzle enough to sort of leap by faith. sometimes i’ll still messup and then have to start over… lol.
i need to use them more to be honest. and haven’t gotten snow leopard yet as am saving up SP’s.. but SOOOON.
: DDD the wolf and bear are pretty fun.
hey Brutaly! thanks for doing an awesome job at maintaining this thread and answering everyone’s questions. this has happened the 2nd time already – i was playing last night and experienced a bunch of stuff you mentioned in reply. lol.
while still running 0/15/30/20/5, because i do agree renewed justice is extremely useful in PvE, i was just further testing out how to better play my hammer. i got more comfortable using different dodges, like you mentioned, whether it be forward, backwards, even sideways. and learning to be better at controling where i drop the symbol and how to stay in range to get protection, as well as combo and apply area might.
by accident, while fighting one mob, accidentally swictched mob target on the third hit and dropped a symbol right where a bunch of other players were standing! and i got that “shhhoppp” sound of boons being applied (am i remembering this right? lol) so i started thinking. hey i could be switching targets on purpose! so i tried that. and being more aware of my surroundings. my allies and myself need the symbol, so why not try to place it where the most allies are? so i started to strafe more strategically or dodge in a way where when i turn and drop that symbol, most benefit from it. getting the hang of the animation canceling as well so thanks for the tips! it really is great fun. i loved the hammer and will continue to better myself at it.
that being said, i siwtched up my traits to 0/5/30/30/5 since i love the traits in the honor line as well and see how well i do without renewed justice.
in terms of gear, i’m using yellow knights mixed in with some valkyrie. should i go all knights? and then just focus on valkyrie on my jewelry? currently obviously saving up so moving my gear one by one. also, what about in terms of my runes? i was thinking either all soldier, but i don’t thin i’ll need that so i might go for water and monk x2 each (monk has to be acquired specially i believe?). what two other runes could i be looking for?
in regards to sigils, currently have energy on my hammer. i did like hydromancy a lot as the chill effect was pretty cool. any other suggestions or what do other people use in here for their hammer and or other weapon set? : )))
p.s. yea, the chain is for 3 seconds, which is not bad actually! tested this last night too. thanks for the confirmation Brutaly
it’s more of a rectangle on the wall, where the wall is set up iirc. : )))
this skill IS awesome. and i need to utilize it more. was running dungeon the other day sand SO many pesky rangers. lol, i felt bad i didn’t remember i had this skill in my arsenal until after the fact. durrrr
GS is still awesome. Guardian is sitll awesome. i main a hammer but will use GS when need to. was running a dungeon once and was frankly not doing so well. switched to GS just to try something different and instantly made a huge difference.
play extensively after these changes. you’ll find ways to adapt and make it even better. if it REALLY has severely affected your gameplay after you’ve tried to get used to it and improve, then we can take a look at what’s really at stake.
reading the changes in the recent patch did nothing to affect the way i view or play my Guardian. i don’t plan to sit back and take whatever the devs throw our way either, but i just don’t feel this patch really did change us all THAT much.
if you really don’t like the GS, then find another way to play. aagain, as mantioned, i play the hammer and it does AWESOME damage. the GS still does great damage i feel. you might have to tweak your playstyle a bit, but that’s part of an MMO i guess – change is the only thing ever constant.
didn’t play WoW either. but i can see where you’re coming from, OP. and before i say anything else, i honestly do love and appreciate the Guardian community we have here. i myself am a very proud Guardian and i’ve been maining the crap out of mine. not the best, but working towards it. extremely versatile, can do damage, can support and at times i like to think i am helping hold the team up. nor do i want or need credit for it, to remain a nameless hero. and many of you in here, continue to give feedback, passion which continue to build towards that sentiment.
i main a hammer and always have since i laid hands on my first one. i picked up the greatsword for a while and absolutely love it as well though. when no specific situations call for other weapon sets, you’ll see me running with the hammer and GS.
i stand by the nerf not being as bad as it’s made out to be – but that IS only because the whining posts seem to be more prominent. and that’s what people focus on. and like said, the constructive, good, helpful stuff gets lost. i think many of us just do want to see where the devs were coming from with this patch. they mentioned it was for retaliation, but didn’t really go into details and it was overall vague imo. there are repercussions to other builds perhaps, symbols, zeal line, etc.. but i don’t believe it’s gamebreaking.
holding my breath now for official word from ANet. in the time being though, still loving the Guardian. still smashing with my hammer and wielding the GS. nothing game-breaking yet and am sure ANet’s looking for a fix or how to respond. am sure this topic has caught their attention.
STANDING FAST.
as a Guardian it’s almost hard to not go for crit. not saying it’s a must, but it definitely helps since a lot of our trats synergize like awesomesauce with crits. that being said, i try to go for crit whatever player i play in whatever game i game. : PPP
but definitely more than viable with Guardian. especially if you’re invested in the radiance line. take some time (if you haven’t already) to get to know the traits and different skills. you’ll find a lot of synergies and a few great ones mentioned in this thread already. just learn and figure out how you best want to play. test it out and then eventually you’ll find a build that works for you.
i even switch around quite often. maybe every 2 weeks or so? or even less depending on how i feel. it costs around 3s+ iirc to retrain traits.
@ Trung – thanks for the math there! i have been wondering about crit dmg and if i needed more of it. so i’m trying to spec that with some of my gear as well. not sure if it’s necessary. would be interesting to see what the optimal point would be for power vs crit dmg in regards to any given crit chance %.
a few things on my mind:
- the scepter CAN do very good dmg. but like most have pointed out. #2 seems to have to be paired with #3 for it to be affected.unless if you find stationary bosses or if your party can somehow stunlock them, then #2 frigging shines! or vs a player who doesn’t know or care to move. when in WvW defending, when i drop a #2, people peace out like no other, especially when it crits. but again, can be situational. it works when you throw it up against wall while zerging and helps push archers back from the walls.
- lol magical tennis racquet. that’s one of the reasons i love the scepter too. ha.
- that being said, if they’d switch out the orbs, or animation so that it at least SEEMS like t’s doing legit damage. or just up the DPS in general. what of it instead of being orbs popping out (i can’t even use the word shoot properly here), it’d fire a lazer that tags on to enemies but not work seeing as it’s an “auto attack” skill but maybe as long as it’s in range, then it does damage
- again, THAT being said, i saw on map chat once that shatterer was up. i’d never done seent him befo so i rushed across half a map to get there. everyone was like he’s still 80% come one come all! and i was liek sweet i should make it in time. got there, he was on his deathbed already! i quickly switched to scepter, spammed, and got one crit hit in. bronze. chest. not bad. lol
- not helping the scepter’s case here, but i switch to scepter (and staff) when in low levels (going for map completion) so i don’t overkill (when others are around)… but i’ll definitely have scepter equipped when running dungeons. not sure if it’s dealing with what i’m given or i actually enjoy using it sometimes. usually i feel it’s the latter. but against experienced players, scepter is slightly tough. then, again, i feel Guardians shine most when in melee range.
-
for now, i wouldn’t try it until we hear more official word from the Devs. though they did mention it is something they were looking into as well.
i am not at home, so can’t check to see if it indeed the same “skin” as what i’ve heard. supposedly at end of personal story quests, there is an NPC selling Pact weapons. though not sure about details yet. ANet might still be working on them and hopefully we’ll be able to get tokens to purchase them : )))
o herro everyone!
D
glad to hear more positive responses and also new names joining in on the chat. always good to see new faces (names). anyone from Sanctum of Rall here? hehe i’m always giving out free dyes! lol
@Maklin – am sure you’ll find some like-minded people on TC soon enough! and one thing i always believe in, take the first step! and people will more likely come to you and respond. we live in a world where sometimes standing out is being punished. but to be honest, what do we really have to lose? especially in gw2. the most is we don’t hear anything back. at the end of quests, i guess i’m a huge chatter so i always say a little bit. well done, ty for the rezzes, great job keeping the boss immobilized, etc.. more often than not, people just scatter. but sometimes, there will be folk around and we just stay and chat and do nothing lol. /dance *, talk about nothing, all the while taking mobs out that respawn lol.
@Glitch and Maklin and Noppy (hope i didn’t miss anyone) – the cross server guild would definitely be fun! and i would definitely be part of it. for starters, if it’s not that big yet, maybe you can just rep when you feel like being in a strictly help other player mode. whereas the rest of the time, if you want to focus on some personal quests, serious farming, or doing specific dungeon runs, you can rep your other guilds. and then when it gets more organized we can figure something o ut. wow, imagine having a rep or a “council” from every server!!! haha that’d be a big feat but something pretty cool.
@about thirty ninjas – that’s awesome of you giving out help and offering it! take what i’m goign to say with a grain of salt since i wasn’t there. but liek GLitch mentioned, it’s best if people approach general /m asking for help. but i commend you for taking the first step! a lot of time, maybe people don’t feel comfortable responding to offers for help, because that’s sort of admitting they have a “short coming” or aren’t as “ELITE” of what have you. and might receive comments like “lol wut a nub” or “l2p LOLOL” but that’s just a very general skeptical guess of mine. keep doing what you’re doing though, but perhaps maybe you can try phrasing it as you wanna do a dungeon run, and willing to go slowly and not rush through things and/or maybe say you wanna do a story run for practice. then i feel that way, those who need help may approach you more. not sure if this helps.. but good luck! and keep at it! : ))) i wouldn’t mind having help with some of those dungeons lol
fun story – was in Ascalon the other day. with my Norn wife and big Norn self running around. we start doin this little quest with the harpy’s. an Asura joins in on us. and after we dispatch the enemies, they /s linked some loot to heavy armor (maybe because he noticed i was a Guard) and asked if anyone needed them. : ))) given they were too low-level for me, i thanked them regardless and was so nice to see people offering up goods (regardless of rarity or value) of what they find. most people would rather salvage or vendor even if it netted them only 6 copper rather than giving it to someone for free. so another shining moment for gw2 players.
for story mode, it’ll be slightly easier. like the few mentioned above, i feel EXP mode will onl be for 80’s. this is only for PUGs though. i’d say best is to try to find a dungeon runnin’ heavy guidl as well : ))) then you can always find people more readily and hopefully find people who will be willing to teach you how to play the dungeons. soon enough you’ll be able to run ‘em and teach others. don’t forget to keep passing on what you’ve learnt!!
i was lucky enough my first two times doing dungeons, i joined PUGs. one i put together as well by roping in a good bunch who were all LFG. it’s simple enough, if 3, 4 people are calling out LFG, then why not bring ’em into one group. or maybe i got lucky. and both times, there were at least one or two who were more active in taking a “leader” role or explaining how things work.
i also let people know before we got started that it’s my first time and asked to be just told what to do. i think that helps people, and let them know you’re there to learn and need a little help the first time. if people aren’t willing to spend that time, then they’ll hopefully just leave the party and you can just go LF1M
i’ve actually NEVER tried clicking in gw2. (i haven’t played a PC game since like.. red alert days or warcraft 2, lol). recently came back to d3 and that was a click fest. but with gw2, i prefer using my keyboard a lot more.
WASD basic for movement / strafing – turning with the mouse (took keyboard turning off)
1-5 stay the same, F1-Fx stay the same
and then i like to keep my key buttons close to my “hub” (i.e. wasd)
Q – wep swap
E – heal
and then utilities and elites are Z, X, C and V
sheathing weapong is Shift + Mouse 4 (i have a Razer deathadder. with 2 extra buttons, i feel too many can be overwhelming but haven’t tried yet)
this set up has been great so far. you can bind anywhere you want, you’ll get used to it in no time. and then after you get used to it, you have to figure out if you like it or not. if not, then tweak it here and there. it coul dbe just ONE button or bind that makes the whole set up off. and if you like it, then awesome
DDD
this thread is great. i too would love to have either the hammer or the greatsword. will put forth my efforts as well to help try looking for hints and clues. am nowhere near being able to test recipes yet but when i can, i’ll defs try stuff out too.
good luck to all! and appreciate everyone sharing the info here. : )))
thanks ANet for the response. will give it a shot tonight. or maybe wait for further official response. : ))
nice! thanks for the share Hjulstad! i’ve been debating what sigils to go for. will give it a test run. : )) and YES. i feel there are so many great traits in that line. i’m pretty much set on 2h mastery. and larger symbols. though i want a few more from those traits as well lol
quick questions, did anyone here used to run Renewed Justice (Radiance 15) and then dropped it? big difference for you? i feel renewed justice is great when there are a lot of mobs that die fast (PvE). but in dungeons or vs bosses or PvP, it doesn’t refresh as much.. so maybe i can give up that 10 and put it in the rest of honor? hmmm.
ah, just to add, Sanctum of Rall here.
hmm have been looking but haven’t found any yet.
to my surprise, there are actually fewer “logs” on here regarding this issue than i’d thought.
though, one can always argue, WvW is for, well.. WvW-ing lol. but you do get goodies that help you in battle!
am sure ANet will iron out these bugs soon.. right??
i’ve heard that certain servers can be more of one way than another. some servers might never bother rezzing you even if they run across you dead in field and no mobs around – maybe because they’ve had the same done to them. and more often than not, subconsciously or not, people will act unto others what’s been done to them. they may not even know it. but sounds like you, along with others in this thread are kind at heart, have good intentions, just want to enjoy a good game with good company. that CAN be created and it’d be sad to see you leave.
somthing i try to live by day-to-day: “making a difference”. obviously in a positive light. whether it be through small acts or in smaller circles, starting with close friends or even a stranger. and all i can hope for is that it spreds, as long as we can keep up the acts of kindness and having players value players more.
you could consider a server switch. you can feel free to add me, and i am sure Glitch, Jayne Noppy or any others in here to see which servers we are on and ask us more in-game or PM on here. : )) I’m on Sanctum of Rall and so far it’s been good. most heated argument ever was in WvW. which i can see happening more easily. but in PvE it’s been great so far.
it’s human nature – esepcially nowadays – to put others down when you have the chance to. or belittle. or devalue. but once we recognize this, we can choose to accept it, or say “no, it shouldn’t be that way”. it’s unfortunate that you’ve experienced such. there’s hardly a worse feeling when all you’ve tried is to be genuine, constructive on top of that, patient and all you get back are immature personal jabs, and these people don’t even know you. i pray that these things don’t get to you. and you remain part of the gw2 community! : )))) we need more people like you around, who are willing to voice their opinions in a logical and polite manner, constructive criticism, feedback on the game, which will ultimately foster a better community and hopefully that the game devs can pick up on and bring us better, bigger content in the patches and days to come. in the end, it’s a win all if we’re able to learn to accept it’s a good thing that others can be happy around us and not have it be revolved around ourselves.
back to the Guild – Glitch, i am glad that you had the asme idea and i can only imagine so! i love the idea of putting gear into the bank and people can use it if they need it and then return it (gotta be careful so they aren’t soulbound ; ))) ). i wouldn’t mind donating some crafted armor. and i wouldn’t mind donating matierls if chefs can help cook stuff for the guild, etc. : ))) i guess it can be based on an honor system, since the whole basis of the guild would be to help others and foster a better, trusting community. as long as learn to not get taken advantage of. haha. i have this small habit, when i find dyes that i already have, i’ll offer it to people if i’m partied up with them, if not, then to map chat. did yesterday and i actually ran into the person a bit after. it was pretty fun and i was like “o hey!” lol have ranged from common to rare dyes. and people say thanks and are appreciative even if tey could have gotten it for a mere 1s. or even less.
that being said though, i may not have the time to be fully dedicated to a guild either due to RL stuffs.. i REALLY really want one of my own a swell! lol. but i wouldn’t want to disappoin tthe people who do join. though maybe i shouldn’t let that hold me back either. but if any on here is willing to slowly, but surely work towards that, i’ll definitely don that guild name whenever i’m on and open to help people. : ))))
hmm not sure or not, but i heard you might be able to get pact weapons from completing your story quest? though it hink we can’t get them at this point in time but will be implemented later, retro-actively as well hopefully if you’ve already completed yours

sadness how many people aren’t getting the 100% nor rewards even if they’ve gotten 100% in some cases. just hoping this gets fixed soon if that’s the case.
hmm that’s so weird. the few times i’ve sent tickets, i’ve gotten responses right away. or relatively fast within 24-48 hrs (workign days).
speculation here – all things tied to legendaries are bugged? i don’t want to believe this. but seeing another post just made me think. ha, not to fuel the fire though…
either way, hope this gets resolved soon! and that if people truly got this achievement / title then they ought to get the corresponding rewards. 100% map completion is no easy task – least a lot of time and effort has to be put into the game.
is this really done to slow down the progress of legendaries? there was that sudden influx of 5 – 6 legendaries last week or so (iirc). i really hope that’s not the case. i continue to offer you the benefit of doubt Anet. so far you guys have been awesome in regards to how the game has panned out in the first month or so, so i really hope this is pure speculation..
on that note, hopefully it’ll get fixed soon. it’s not easy doing jumping puzzles in WvW (or certain puzzles alone)
thanks for the replies guys. so it IS bugged?
okay yea so when we got there, Orl was outside. and he did tell me “that’s the one! now put it in!” but nothing happens lol. so i guess i gotta chance upon him being INSIDE the cave. does anyone know the specifics to trigger this?
@Nkuvu – but hearing that even after getting in, he might run away? that sort of bums. i did hear that it’s quite tough and you’ll need a bunch of players. though you said he was fully protected.
yea i got the crystal as a random drop. unfortunately don’t remember which mob where but i assume this one’s random.
there’s the Skillpoint outside (with the riddles / or questions i think? lol) but i heard there’s a SP and stuff inside as well. do these points count for map completion as well??
woah the site is looking good! given i didn’t get a chance to browse yet, at work lol so kind of hard to make it seem like i’m actually doing work lol
keep it up! will be looking forward to more : ))
oh, just to add, maybe at least we can have the option to disable double clicking for buying, and or have the confirm panel and set the thresholds for all types of currency. e.g. 2g, 10000karma, 250 tokens, etc)
i have something similar, but not exactly the same. i was previewing cultural weps for my Norn. and i must have accidentally double-clicked. so i did not intend to buy. bam. 35k karma gone for a weapon that was worse off for me at that point. lol.
this was my fault as well clearly, but i submitted a ticket to ask anyways. Anet got back to me pretty fast (their ticketing system is very efficient i will commend) but they said there’s nothing they could do at this point. i mentioned that maybe there should be a confirm panel like K Cross mentioned as well for anything above certain values (be it gold, tokens or karma/ or by tier).
so i did what you suggested OP, throw it into the mystic forge (i’m assuming karma bought dungeon armor is souldbound as well yar?). lol. you can look up some known recipes but if it’s throwing in armor, etc don’t recall anything specific but don’t quote me on that.
: (((
i AM trying to get a legendary so trying to save up as much karma as possible lol. (funny story, while previewing some cultural weps, i must have accidentally double-clicked cause the numbers went all red and i got a new wep… O_______________o tier.. 2… as… well…. sigh hahaha) anyways, WvW actually yields a TON of karma. so if you don’t plan to spend it anywhere else, i don’t see why not as long as you feel you can benefit from the set.
i am majority running knight’s and then adding some vit here and there. i would like to pick up some healing / more vit though so looking to balance that out with my jewelry. will have to do more reaerch before i invest though.
quick question – what about weapons? i run with hammer mainly and then scepter / focus or shield for dungeon / WvW. PvE i’m not as worried as much and will play with whatever i like.
i ask only because i’m struggling to get my vit up and with certain weps i can get up to 15k (vs 13k-ish HP), but then i lose out on crit / dps, etc.
i run mainly knight’s armor and mix i thin one or two other pieces for some vitality. am still working on getting the most appropriate gear for my guard right now. specc-ed 0/15/30/20/5 at the moment. i find it hard to give up renewed justice. : )) the extra precision doesn’t hurt. running altruistic healing as well. so was torn to only put 20 into honor. i run with larger symbols and 2h mastery.
so add to some of the on-going discussion, i dodge a lot as well and as brutaly mentioned using the dodge in between chain 2 and 3 is most effective. really simple, hit 1, 2 dodgeback, run up (or mob runs to you anyways if melee), hit 1 again, symbole is placed, 2. rinse and repeat (unless if situation calls for another course of action). the dodging ensures to keep me healed and like Brutaly mentioned, i do notice the discrepency between the animation and when the symbol is placed. need to learn to time if better but i’m getting the hang of it.
larger symbols i feel is a pretty good trait. i would like to have symbols heal as well, but also wondering for longer symbols. just because if i’m fighting with a party of two or three, and more often then not, they’ll be ranged so my symbols don’t really affect them. if we’re playing with a boss that’s always kiting, then at least the longer symbols might give a chance to proc a boon on my allies if they happen to kite with / around the mobs?
also, just to clarify, altruistic healing only heals when i apply boons to my allies? or does that include myself? if myself included, then my point right above would be moot. : PPP
lastly, to further confirm, i forgot to do extensive testing last night. i can’t say if it’s time between chain 2 and chain 3 or distance from mob that cancels the chain. let’s just say after chain 2 i dodge backwards twice, and hit #1 again and it went back to the start of the chain. which is about 2 secs and relatively far from the target.
i can’t say i’m at the level of being able to 1v2 or 1v3. and in many cases 1v1 against vets, i can’t hold either but that’ just my skill i want to say and i’m gonna keep practicing. with the Guardian specc-ed the right way, you won’t only be doing support and healing and buffing. after all, if you can’t DPS, you won’t be able to withstand no matter how much toughness or vitality you have – you have to take enemies out as well.
i am specced with decent survivability but working towards high crit and i can do decent damage. 0/15/30/20/5 for reference. might be switching it up soon though. hammer and scepter/focus or shield. i actually love playing WvW as a guardian. a few things, ranged combat? yes, i feel we’re a bit lacking, but that does not mean we’re not viable.
scepter can do decent damage actually. scepter #2 actually does great damage and crits a lot for me. both #1 and #2 can reach on top of the walls as well. and vice versa. i like to drop #2 right on an enemy, watch them react and start to move and then hit immobilize and then i spam 1. it takes a good chunk of their health off surprisingly.
the staff is good as well when defending behind a gate for the AoE dmg as well as giving buffs to you and your allies. if specced for it, you can pretty much self heal and always stay alive.
Tome of Wrath – great uses when above the wall and repeling a zerg. just lay down that AoE dmg. even useful when enemies forces are pushing forward. i hang back a bit, and drop just even #1 on ToW and enemies fall back a little and won’t advance as daringly
Wall of Reflection – WvW is all ranged you say? then show ‘em they’ll need to do better than that. can work magic especially in a narrow field
the immobilizes on hammer #3 and scepter #3 are both great for chasing down stragglers who get stuck as well and my team and i just stomp them.
hopefully you’ll find ways to enjoy the Guardian in WvW. first time? it was terribad. and then the more i played, slowly getting to know the class, i got a lot better. learn to dodge as a Guardian, use your utilities at the right time and you pull some awesome feats.
though, that being said, i wish you received points for support as well. i will add, when i’m THERE for any given event, i usually end up with gold – as long as i don’t run away half way to do something else.
i haven’t really played other classes to much extent. i’ve happened to stick by my Guard because i fell in love with the way you get to play ‘em. that being said, i’d say i didn’t feel he truly started to shine or i relaly strated to learn wo to play the class right by lvl 30-ish (when you start to unlock more skills).
after hitting 80 and getting better gear, i was able to ssurvive a lot more. i find myself rezzing people a lot more rather than being rezzed (in the beginning). so a lot if it IS practice as well. and i’m sure other classes can manage the same. i want to say there is NO one class that will do everything better than anyone else. but there will be classes that will be better in certain situations.
the Guardian i want to say is quite versatile though and really helps with survivability. in WvW, i’ve had groups of 6 – 7 chase me down on numerous occasions (maybe i need to learn to retreat! more often at the right times) and i’ve been able to sneak away even with a lot of CC on me, by using the right skills at the right time and getting really lucky. once i even got downed, 5 people surround me and i was still abel to rally and get away! whew. that made me glad i was playing a guardian.
just know SOME weaknesses i feel may be – speed, ranged combat, and really only burning as condition dmg. i only say that because i love being quick, and i wanted to spec for condition dmg.
@Brutality
I was hoping that you would answer to Bantapoo and TeamRaveGreen because they asked what I wanted to ask:
1) is longer symbol duration any good?
2) can you explain in detail the non-auto attack thing:
“Also, am I reading you guys right that you are turning off the auto attack for Hammer1 combo so that you press the button 1x for each part of the combo – therefore allowing yourself to use the 3rd part later? How long can you hold off on the 3rd part?”
will try helping answering #2 since i’ve messed around with it for a bit and 1 was answered already.
iirc, i have 20% less CD on 2h traited and even with that if i mighty blow (#2) and then, have auto attack on, when the #1 chain finishes there’s still about 1 or half a second left of CD on #2. so i’ll find myself standing there idling or just moving not doing anything, before i hit #2 again. i still get the combo from the symbol but to make it more effective, by disabling auto-attack, you can control the timing of when the 3rd hit hits. and i believe Brutaly mentioned adding in a dodge either between 2 and 3, which i confirm to work as long as you’re in range with the enemy you’r ehitting so that the chain doesn’t get reset. OR you can dodge after the chain, and then hit #2 for the combo. reason being, i want to say, if i am correct, that while you have high enough crit chance, you’re gaining endurance, while allows you to dodge more, while allows you to heal more (both you and people around you), and you dodge enemies attacks as well. just gives you better control over all with this setup. although it does take getting used to. but when you do it’s pretty darn fun.
@TeamRaveGreen, – i recall u also asking how long you get from chain 2 to chain 3 before you have to hit it? i haven’t tested this extensively, but i’ve done it with what seems like 0.5 – 1 sec and was still able to stay in the chain as long as you were close enough to the mob, so hug ’em!! that being said, i tend to spam #1.. and if you hit #1, say 5, 6 times spamming it, it will do all three hits so you do have to hit the button one by one.
hope this helps!! Brutaly or other who’ve more experience with this. of course, chime in.
on the side: running 0/15/30/20/5 right now, and mainly donning Knight’s gear. which i find most effective for this build as well. trying to fill in some vitality gaps with jewelry maybe.
would is be advised to put MF runes into all my gear? or better served to have better dmg / su pport runes instead? or rather.. just got for a full MF suit if i want to?
