[CDS] – Sanctum of Rall
(edited by akamon.2769)
just asking ahead of time before i commit to crafting some items.
specifically the corrupted weapons. since you need lvl 400 wep smith to craft these, along with the recipe, if i craft one, and if i understand correctly, they are soulbound on acquire, is it possible to transmutate the skin to another peice that is not soulbound (maybe white item, then again to exotic items for stats)? if so, will the transmutated item be available to other characters or even other accounts?
and the same for dungeon items. can i transmutate just to get the skin with other non bound exotic stats?
thanks in advance.
[added: ahh, i originally posted this in the crafting section since it involves crafting of the corrupted weps, along with exotic weps that i plan to craft for the stats… if it makes more sense in P helping Ps, please feel free to move it there too]

@ Mechanix – can’t quote again. lol. cool find! i shoudl know my maps more.. but where is that?
thanks for this. do you happen to have a screenshot of it in-game? : ))
this is probably myself at fault, but too often i find myself getting downed when i try to revive others. one thing i try to keep in mind is i try to revive everyone – as long as they are safe (thus be sayin git’s my own fault i get downed, but i feel the mechanics of “leaving a ressurection session” is not most responsive either. as in, to stop ressing and then get out of the way, it’s often too late. need more practice. anyways i digress…). but this being said, i had a similar experience where some people just weren’t contributing, is this being elitist? because we would all pretty much stop, to revive, putting outselves at stake while the mobs are free to do ANYTHING and will unload. specially in AoE cases. whhhhhhhew.
anyways. i like to think i am making a difference while playing. and as a supportive Guardian, i’m sure most of you can attest that we aren’t to be ignored in the damage department either. i play AH as well, so that gives me even MORE incentive to support, which i love doing myself anyways, but i get heals from it, so i can stay alive, so i can continue to DPS and continue to support to help you stay alive and DPS more.
my runes are specced for support as well when i coudl go more DPS.
depending on how you want to look, play, etc… Norn CAN be pretty bulky so the armor can look more.. “comical” if you will. i however, do not mind that at all. when i think Guardian, i think a big doode. and Norn fit that. at the same time, human Guardian can look just really finessed and fit more when wielding shield, scepter of staff. but that’s just my perspective.
and yes, i wouldn’t have minded rolling a Charr Guardian!
DD
when we love a build, should we refrain from using words like OP and or exploit? i perosnally have been using the hammer over GS most of my journey up to 80 and post. i’m glad more people are using it now! in the beginning people were whining how GS was op, and hammer was nothing, and then what happened? the hammer is awesome, but also is fine as is. it has it’s flaws, and has it’s MAJOR upsides. but i wouldn’t call it op.
like many have said, AH is great and i’m not a huge numbers person and true that it doesn’t scale well with healing power, but it’s not about the numbers solely, because i am seeing myself survive a lot more. also gives one incentive to play more supportive by booning more. glad you’re integrating it into your build now.
i personally went full into valor and honor. valor for AH mainly. the extra toughness doesn’t hurt. and then honor i feel is one of the best lines a “supportive” Guardian has, at least for my playstyle. there are a handful of major traits that i’d want at any given time. again, i’m no expert on the numbers, so not sure if each crit on each enemy done gives might to nearby allies? for e.g. if there are 4 enemies bunched up, i hit all 4 of them with symbol of protection, 3 crits. and then with mighty blow another 3 crits. so 6 crits total. does each of those crits apply might and then might stacks?
@ dizzyd – if you feel the radius is small, are you using Larger symbols? i felt it made a significant difference. you can also trait for longer lasting symbols as well.
i use larger symbols, 2h mastery, and either empowering might or symbols heal depending on the situation. the great thing is with high enough crit chance %, you’ll see crits pop on the symbol drop, as well as with mighty blow, especially if you have mobs bunch, which is the best way to play up the hammer. so you have protection boons, AoE boons, as well as might boons (empowering might) using the #1 chain and combo-ing for mighty blow. really good for survivability and once you get that going, even if your health drops, it does fill up pretty good.
plus, i run shouts for all three of my utilities most of the time. and runes for boon duration. more boons, more healing, more support, more survibability for the group.
hey Glitch! good finally chatting with ya in-game too. ; ))) thanks for the share buddy and like Lexy, you’re gonna get some even more tough lovin’ over here. to be honest, that sucks to have had that experience. strangely enough, right before i talked to you, i was running CoE dungeons yea? aaaaaaand i had a VERY similar experience. i was running dungeons with a guildie from my other guild and my buddy’s very experienced with most dungeons. we didn’t have enough people though so we invited some PUGs and they said they were experienced as well. however, same problem, i guess they felt their way was better. my friend gave instructions and as i was new to the dungeon, i just followed his orders. especialyl since no one else was vocal about it. in dungeons, with a new group at least, it’s always important, from my perspective to at least talk about strategy and how to go about things. there is no ONE way per se. but at least general direction and things people need to be doing. before the run my friend even asked does anyone need suggestions on what to do? cause he didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes or hold-their-hands when they didn’t need it. but no one replied. this one boss in particular, took FOREVER. he kept telling people what to do, but people would just listen. we were supposed to stack on top of one another at melee range and just wail at the boss, cause he does massive aoes and when everyone’s close together, hie AoE range is smaller and easier to dodge but people kept kiting and moving the boss around. took us many tries and my friends was on the verge of quitting. and even though i was getting sick and tired or dying so often because people wouldn’t listen but i really wanted to finish it and i was like “ho wmuch health left?” 33% he said. so i was like “let’s dust this biznotch” so we finished it. the other members left. we grabbed some people we knew better, and finished another path, similar strategy, where everone listened and agreed on one strategy and we did it twice as fast, if not faster.
the first time was pretty darn disheartening. so i know where you were coming from. the second time around though, picked me up a bit again though. remember when you first told us the story with you and your brother running dungeons and it was tough? and today, you’re able to tel us that you two run GREAT together! like Lexy said, these things take time. the game is designed to take time. so am sure all the content within was designed to take as well. ESPECIALLy dungeons. the biggest mechanic of dungeons is that you 5 work as a team. it even says before you enter, that a group of 5 is recommended. sure, sometimes that may create even MORE problems. like the both of us experienced, but it was an experience nonetheless. would i see as a waste of time? never. cause now i know that we can’t get everyone on the same page. and not everyone in this world or everyone we come into contact with will agree with us. it’s the same IRL. and while this is a game, behind every toon, is a human being. we’re more than just pretty pixels and killer stats. so we can only expect peopel to act as they would IRL.
that being said, i try to help everyone i come across. at work, when i was in school, even strangers on the street. though you will always run into someone who doesn’t want to be helped. and what do we do with them? i’ll be frank, i have no answer for that right now. and i’ve felt the way you have to. going against my own code. or questioning myself, “why the heck do i bother?” well the answer is. and my friend, you have the answer already. this thread. the operation you’ve started with your own hands. those are ALL people whose Tyrian lives you’ve made a difference in already. if you didn’t have this mindset of helping people, then none of us would’ve known one another.
you said you wanted to change the world. and you need to know it’s not gonna happen over night. we’ll run into people who don’t want to listen, or won’t cooperate. but i’m sure they all have their own story as well. this operation, this union, for me in some sense, is helping people value others more, its about making a difference. i know we won’t be able to help everyone, at least not in one go. so don’t lose sight of that. and not all times will be perfect or what we had in mind. what you do need to know is though, how to deal with that. just because of this one experience doesn’t mean you’ll never want to help again. if you felt you didn’t do the operation justice because you slipped and went against your own code, then make sure that doesn’t happen next time and how to prevent it.
if anything, just know that the UNION will be here to support. and that you don’t need to take all the burden on yourself. you’re good at running these dungeons, and i know i’ll need help from you helping me get through AC. ; )))) and from then on, i’ll be passing that forwards too.
stay steadfast in your heart buddy. for the UNION. for TYRIAAA.
@Bri – that’s awesome! i always end most sessions with a bit of crafting haha. i expect next time i see you online, you’ll be 80! any luck finding your exotic gear?
Nope …
I’m Looking for lvl 78 exotic kit (lvl 80 seems a waste of gold…), and not much on the TP last evening.Only interested in getting the stats right, cos I will transmute with starter leatherworking (lvl 1-70) Scout kit! This is the only medium human armour I like right now, easily available and cheap to make.
My plan is to get the medium armour from AC …
grats again Bri!
DD and good chatting with ya the other day finally in game. lol.
and funny everyone thought you were a lady. XDDD am sure many are disappointed now ; )) i kid i kid.
and nice! the Scout kit is pretty awesome!! and yea, best part is if it’s just for the skin, it’s mega cheap lol
i need AC runs as well! hopefully i’ll see you on soon and we can run it, maybe with Glitch’s help ; )))
@everyone else – glad to see more people joining! hope to see you all in Tyria soon.
cheers,
alo
(pronounced a. lo) lol
Tzenjin – awesome! am working on my jewelry and runes / upgrades and always welcome a second opinion! i’ll add you in game and chat to you when i see you. if not, i’ll send mail. thanks!
i agree with most points of Rismo and Phasmo brought up. scepter is great at destroying objects (bug with melee hits not connecting all the time). and i use scepter quite a bit, but primarily in dungeons only. previously used to use WvW as well but now i’ve switched more to the staff. that being said, i’ll always have each weapon available to the Guardian in my inv.
i do use the scepter mainly when i can’t reach the mobs, in dungeons, or dragon fights, etc or to be able to do so in a relatively safer fashion. immobilize i use to lock down fleeing enemies (WvW) and #2 is actually very good against siege weapon building sites, and or bosses that are more stationary. or u can always immobilize and then drop a #2.
auto attack i just spam white kiting, but i don’t even really count on these hitting the mobs half the time. but when they do connect, the dmg isn’t nearly as bad as one thinks.
definitely not an effective weapon at close range. if you’re in melee range, i definitely switch to hammer and bash away. i guess i sort of use scepter to get some early hits in while mobs approach me or i am approaching mobs, then drop #3 and then #2 on them and then leap in with melee.
so the scepter has it’s uses, but does highly depend on the situation.
though when i do need it, i love it. haha for obvious reasons.
pretty interesting thread! surprised to see hammer’s so low. but if going by a / sec it makes sense since most of hammer skills takes time to charge up or finish a chain.
with scepter however, i will say, smite is EXTREMELY powerful, as long as your enemies stay in it XDD
that’s interesting! and makes sense in my head. from my personal experience it was quite the contrary though. i first ventured into WvW as a lvl 21 and had no idea what i was doing lol. i racked up a significant amount of badges from that initial session though! while after having gotten to 80, and pretty sure i’m better at killing enemies and playing more effectively, my badge drop rate has been a lot lower comparatively.
i’ll have to get on some siege next time to see.
can’t quote again, lol
@Bri – that’s awesome! i always end most sessions with a bit of crafting haha. i expect next time i see you online, you’ll be 80! any luck finding your exotic gear?
i run an AH build with the hammer, along with a focus on high crit (still trying to get it up higher!
) since many traits rely / synergize well with crits. i maxed both valor (for AH) as well as Honor (good vit, some healing and i love the traits) since i run with a hammer, i picked up larger symbols, two handed mastery (shorter CD’s on 2h weps) and also symbols heal.
i then run a staff as my second weapon set (but change it around depending on situation). empower alone (placing stacks of might onto yourself and allies) will heal a BUNCH with AH.
i feel i can survive QUITE a bit with this build. i am running 0/5/30/30/5 if you’re so inclinced. a few i know run a similar build but with 0/0/30/30/10 and make up for precision / crit change % in gear. the extra 5 pts in Virtues help with boon duration as well as pick up a trait in that line.
you can check out the crithammer build for more detailed discussions : )))
lotta reading but well worth it
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/guardian/Crithammer-one-way-of-playing-with-it/first
there you go! i found while leveling up and even playing now, key is to move out of red circles. lol. i haven’t extensively used the mace, but it does pretty darn good defensively.
i play a support / dmg build with my hammer guardian and do alright MOST of the time. i think while leveling up, you don’t really need to stick to ONE weapon set per se. especially the mace felt to me wasn’t able to kill enemies fast enough. but that’ sjust me. when i needed to be more defensive, then i picked up the mace.
how big was the level discrepency between you and these higher level mobs?
i don’t think stealth is a boon. i.e. don’t think there is a way of actively removing it. that being said, as others have mentioned, you can still hit someone who is in stealth, you just won’t know how effectively you’re doing it or doing it at all.
in dungeon runs, i’ve been able to immobilize mobs right as they go into stealth mode, and then you can still see the chains around them. though, that might have been a bug / stun-locked at that one time. can’t be sure and need to test more.
do you mean the Badges of Honor? which are used to purchase items from the WvW vendors, and or for crafting legendaries?
you get them from killing people. : ))) NPCs included. do note though, that the drop rate is pretty darn low.
you can also get badges from map completing the different borderlands and eternal battlegrounds. as well as well completing the jumping puzzles. however, currently the borderlands JP seem to be bugged and you won’t get your reward.
i think it’s kind of cool how different mobs react differently to diff skills, people’s stats and attributes, etc. kind of gives them AI if you will. and makes for different fights and not the same thing over and over.
i’d say best bet is goign to each map. might cost a bit of coin doing so :/// or maybe you can map out the fastest way and trek across all the lands of Tyria. iirc, if you haven’t “uncovered” certain areas and there is an event / SP or POI there, you won’t be able to see if on the map zoomed in.
good luck getting your 100%%
D almost there.
there a few things you can do.
1) salvage for globs of ectoplasm! best bet is using a mystic of black lion’s salvage kit. i’ve tested and i didn’t personally feel one was better than the other. know that it can yield 0 – 3 ectos for a lvl 68+ rare item
2) sell on the TP for gold!
3) give to a loved one. : ))) and they will love you back.
i am planning to craft a legendary so i need a butt ton of ectos. if you’re planning to craft some named exotics, you’ll need a butt ton as well. so my general practice is check selling price on TP for said rare. compare it against going rate for ectos (around 15 – 16s i believe), and then decide. if lot higher, i’ll sell the rare and just buy the ectos. if around the same, i might gamble. if lower, i’ll probs salvage. though if you’re just making gold and not into crafting, then always almost better to sell on the TP.
however, also take note on what sigil / rune is in the item, and again, check TP to see if that upgrade is highly sought after. if it can sell for a pretty penny on it’s own, i might use black lion’s salvage kit (100% to retrieve upgrades if i am not mistaken) and hope for ectos, and then sell the upgrade component on the TP.
this is my general practice at least. : ))
lol @kasei and anyone else. didn’t mean to offend! i assumed it change changed / amended after and was just pointing it out. i realize i could have included that in my post / re-worded differently. XDD
didn’t follow the entire issue, so was it a bug or just happen to have area retal right when the dodged?
whew.
tbh, i had no idea ring of warding was a light field until yesterday lol. going to make more use of it now. will test this out too.
I tried this quest five times on my Ranger before it ran correctly, and my wife ran it six. On my fifth try, I inadvertently died during the battle and had to respawn and voila, the quest ran perfectly. I suggested to my wife that she try dying on purpose, and voila, her quest ran perfectly.
So, try dying during the battle.
ah, that’s something i’m sure we all try not to do. but in this case, might be well worth it. a temporary workaround perhaps for those that are still having trouble.
@GLitch! HAHA i love that last screen. especially with the little chatbubble going “lol”.
GREAT TO SEE HWO TIS MOVING!
DDDDDDDDD
just added you and a few others as well. ; )) thanks for those who added me as well! the last couple days haven’t been in Tyria much.. but it’s the WEEKEND SOON! so hopefully will see more of you all. great seeing more people moving servers and joining up with good people.
i’ll be sticking to Sanctum of Rall for now : )) needa represent the UNION all places
DD (c’mon, i give out free dyes people!! lol)
would love to be able to go some cross server dungeons someday with any of you folk ; ))) just started venturing into them and theyr’e rEALLY fun and learning a lot.
and here’s an early grats, Bri!
D
it’s quite the cumbersome process. but this might work.
- haven’t tried this yet, but i assume it would work. you can find the items you’re looking to buy at gw2db you can look up items with same models. though sometimes i’ve experienced the name on the TP, in-game differ from those listed on gw2db, even though they might be the same item. also note that you’ll find many items on gw2db that you won’t be able to find on the TP, bind on acquire, etc.
for e.g. Juggernaut
http://www.gw2db.com/items/56211-juggernaught
under Quick Info there’s a chat link [&AgHidwAA], whisper that link to yourself in-game (just so you don’t spam general chat) and you should be able to right click and preview it on your character
also note that many items with particle effects won’t show properly on the preview window.
i’m not don ewiht my story yet, but i’ve been loving it so far. and you should definitely experience WHispers one way or another. JUST DO ITTTTTTTTTTTTtt.
i too am a Guardian. i wanted to join Vigil as my Guardian but my wife went with Whispers (thief) and we wanted to play our stories together, so i joined and am living it so far.
it says it’s not a blast finisher, unlike some other dodge traits.
i used this extensively, especially while hammering, so symbol of protection, have dodged into it, dodged out of it, and nothing ever. lol. that would be ridiculous though. to have a dodge heal + finished. and would be AoE as well haha.
hmm not sure if this helps. i got the crystal about 2 weeks ago, and someone in map chat asked if anyone had the crystal to the cave. i was like, oh maybe thi sis it and linked it. 3 of us showed up, but same situation as above. researcher was standing outside cave. you can talk to him and he goes “this is it! put the crystal into the matrix!” we rushed back in, nothing.
though i went back a few days after, left the metrica map, did other stuff, logged out, back on, did some WvW just random stuff and went back to check the cave again and Researcher and his krewe were inside the cave! and there was the “F” to Interact button near the matrix. don’t remember specifcically if this was before or after a patch
i’ll bring the crystal again to see if they are inside the cave or not. as to what triggers them being inside the cave or outside? have no idea.
can’t help but having huuuge skeptical speculations here, and it doesn’t feel good having them. again, hope to hear from you soon again, ANet!!
for gr- for great justice!
aww didn’t u get a ton of gold for that? i didn’t follow-up, what’d you end up doing with it? :/// if you don’t mind answering that is.
the thoughest it for volcanus for me is probs the 400 chef lol and making the gift. that being said, the wife is a chef and she has a lot of fun cooking and everything you make can actually help you! low-level foods you can send to ur alts, or sell on TP (if has good yield), and the highlevel stuff makes a BIG diff
i was hoping that healing power would play a bigger part in our builds. if it scaled well, then perhaps we would be able to forgo a bit of vitality. while still being able to spec for grt dmg! a crithammer build with +healing would work wonders! though perhaps, maybe too OP. since without much healing, i’ve seen Ah and crit hammer hold up extremely well already :ppp we’ll see how the game expands.
i think i am set on my armor and trinkets for now. next thing is to test runes and find what’s best. still deciding between all soldiers, mix of monk water and maybe sanctuary, or like you mentioned brutaly, going for power and might duration. hoelbrak’s is indeed a good contender. i’m assuming x4? and x2 strength?
as i understand it, mobs with “stability” will be able to walk through the ring, and other CC skills. think of our shout “Stand your ground!”. so many of the higher level mobs / bosses / champs (that have stability) won’t be affected by ring of warding.
from the wiki:
- Enemies touching the ring from either the inside or the outside will be knocked down. This occurs whether they move into it themselves or are made to do so by some control effect such as push, pull, launch, etc.
- Though it does not state so in the tooltip, this skill creates a Combo Field: Light
- Wards can be bypassed by jumping, Teleporting, or Stability.
- This skill requires you to stand still while casting.
[added: on the side, a good practice while facing mobs is, if you can afford to, i always click on them, or mouse over first to see what skills / boons are at their disposal so you can better plan your fights]
(edited by akamon.2769)
@Tzenjin – agreed! that is a pretty beastly build you have there. you should definitely be very happy!
@Ultra – thanks for the elaboration! gives me a better idea of how sigils work. appreciate your constant contributions in the realm of Guardians.
hey everyone. Akaimon here, Norn Guardian, lvl 80. Been doing the personal story once it joined early on with the wife. After a certain bit, we branched off. Don’t remember if that was intentional or not, but most likely was forging the pact. Wife recalls seeing a popup, and she instinctively clicked something and our paths were split then. : ((( Wife went the Tower Down line and just finished Breaking the Bone Ship (i did this with her). I just finished my part Wet Works and finished with Being Taken Captive (or whatever the story’s name was). Next up for both of us i believe is Battle at Fort Trinity. Hopefully it’ll work out for us! We really want to do the personal story together and hope this doesn’t bug out.
I’ll try to offer any insight on this and can hopefully help you guys and anyone else figure out what’s going on! Usuaully she leads the instance, but the last one (before we split), i triggered it since it bugged out when she did, so i’ll try doing the same.
can we get an official response on this? even if it’s just something like “we’ve identified the problem but haven’t found a fix yet. rest assured we’re looking into this.”
and also, if you can let people know if having multiple sets of keys (from doing them daily) will yield the same number of open chests/doors after using them? i.e. will they go to waste?? just so people won’t keep doing them in hopes of so, while they COULD be WvW-ing, or letting others who really want to WvW, and of course also, to avoid grief / rage from what jumping puzzles offer folk ; ))) adding on the PvP element to that.
either way, a word from the devs / bug fixers / managers, anyone on server side to show up here i believe would pose great comfort for all those sharing this concern. please don’t keep your users in the dark! i truly believe you guys are working hard, so small updates here and there, in situations like these i feel would be beneficial.
looking forward to hearing from you.
just thinking out loud here for discussion’s sake. i don’t run cleric’s (though i’ve thought of it) i’d assume you may want to make up for precision to get your crit % up. since you have toughness on cleric’s already, then maybe you could go for berserker’s? as opposed to knight’s. at the same time, you would need to find ways to balance your HP / vit as well.
personally i feel the +healing isn’t enough to justify losing out on either precision, toughness or vitality. and as many people have tested (i myself haven’t yet), +healing doesn’t scale that well for us, apart from maybe for the dodge roll. maybe others can chime in who’ve invested in a set of cleric’s gear before.
that being said, if it’s been working for you, go for it. do experiment though and see what suits you best. i’ve heard people using full cleric’s and does them wonders as well.
the legendary hammer if i am correct (i hope so! since’ i’m going for that lol) would be molten lodestones for the vial of quicksilver. which have shot up in price too, due to the discovery of the Volcanus GS recipe. last time i checked they went from 40s to hovering around ~65-70. can’t be sure of where it’s at now.
charged lodestones are defintiely pricier now as well as you need a lot more. at the same time, the legendary costs more in general (but like you said, i think it’ll be fun to do those things anyways, so by the time we’re done with those, we just might need to farm, but not for everything specifically). though one thing to note is the gamble using the mystic forge for the pre-cursor (i would save until last), and the clovers (around 28-33% success rate observed by people).
i too wish we could dye weapon sets! then there’s another channel for those who want to look and feel different. and or simply to match their armor. though if we could do this, i may really just spend all my time dyeing armor and weapons lol. i can see what you’re saying on the Lionguard Hammer. it could be a tad bigger, more fierce but i’m loving it so far.
and OOH Ebonhawke is a good one too!
don’t mean to bring this thread back up but it does have some useful info and i have a question as well.
for e.g. if i have a 2h as my main set. and then 1 mh and oh as my second set. and i have a passive effect sigil in my OH. would said passive effect be active only when i am using the MH/OH weapon set? i.e. if i switch to my 2h, then the passive effect is gone?
really depends on what you want and how you want to play. i mainly wanted to use crafting for fun, to craft for myself as well as leveling. i chose armorsmith and weaponsmith. made most sense to me in terms of what i can use. though i find myself using scepter and staff more often now (artificer?).
cooking is great for the buffs and more fun (no set process if i understand correctly) but i want to say hardest to farm mats for.
just a little plug, if you plan to craft a legendary or certain named exotics, you can take a look at what “gifts”, crafting components, you may need for that certain forge and you can focus on that as well.
for me, i sport hammer and staff and gets all the work done.
hammer #1 and #2 are both area (obviously within melee range) but if enemies are clumped up, expect to see many dmg numbers pop on screen in clumps.
obviously staff #1 is great, i just run around tagging mobs, i never stay stationary. #3 can be useful if you find a bunch of mobs that are rather stationary. i also use it for mobility.
for added utilities, adding onto Xilo’s list, purging flames is pretty good for tagging (all burn, plus condition removal), i like using this when a train of mobs are coming your way, i let a few past me, and then i pop the ring of fire.
usually i run around, trying to tag all mobs, and when i feel i’ve hit most if not all of them 2, 3 times, then i bust out my hammer and start killing with the group nearest to me or who are dying soon.
@Kami – that’s another great little trick! i assume there’s more than enough time to switch weps and cast hammer #5 while they’re getting back up from being pulled! very nice. i do love it whather it be NPCs or PvPers run into your ring or try to get out and end up feet in the air
@Pirhana – that’s a good point re: the distances. i’ve never really used signets but i’ll have a look into that as well. always lookign for new ways to play. but yea, what you described i assume would work very well already.
@ Melizande – i found it extremely difficult to give up renewed justice as well (formerly 0/15/30/20/5) and i’ve recently switched to 0/5/30/30/5 and haven’t looked back. i wanted to run AH, thus the 30 into valor was a necessity, and having more toughness is a bonus. while being a HUGE fan of the honor line, i decided to give up the 10 in radiance and invest in honor. there are consistently 4 major traits that i want so i’ll switch them up depending on the upcoming battle, given i have time to plan. i run large symbols, 2h mastery and either empowering might or symbols heal. have yet to try symbols lasting longer but i imagine that can be extremely beneficial as well as seen in the various conversations held in this thread.
give it a shot! and see how big a difference it makes for you. i might go back to it again one day and try it out. one reason i WAS able to semi-comfort myself was i was starting to run dungeons and WvW more, and i don’t kill nearly as fast to fully utilize renewed jsutice (i.e. for it to be spammable). so i did a little weighing of what i felt i and my team would benefit from more. but then again, if it works for you, there’s no huge reason for you to change. but like Trung has said, there are a lot of great traits in the Honor line.
i’d want to say that crit chance % over crit dmg, given you have a relatively low crit chance. although, once you get that number up, the more crit dmg will only further augment the crit chance % that you have. obviously we wouldn’t want really high crit chance and no crit dmg to support it. has anyone done some research where the optimal point / or ratio is? perhaps gw2 crt ratings don’t scale in such a way where that analysis is feasible though.
quick question regarding the Sigil of Perception. if i run hammer along with a weaponset including an offhand, if i have a sigil with cooldown on my alternate set mainhand, and then the sigil of perception on my offhand, will the sigil of perception be constant, regardless of the proc on my mainhand sigil? and i am assuming this won’t take place when i switch to the hammer (diff sigil). unless if i have the wrong grasp on how sigils work.
interesting, but makes total sense, choice on the major sanctuary rune, Kami! i too often just don’t bother looking at sub-superior runes. -_- are there no other superior runes with vit and boon duration as 2 pc bonus? i’ll have to take a look.
i run knights gear and working on valkyrie jewelry. will see how it goes. right now just running knight’s with low grade jewelry and still working out so can’t wait to upgrade and see how it goes.
running 2 water, 2 dwayna and looking to get Monk.
or maybe full set of soldiers (the remove conditions on shout sounds awesome), as i use 3 shouts as wlel most of the time.
i’m currently at 14.5k HP (need beter jewelry lol) and exotics in general. and i do alright, though there are a handful of situations where if i had maybe say 16k+, i’d have been able to contribute more (and or not die O___o) i’m aiming to get to around 17 or even 18 depending on weapon set.
good to hear Rise!
D i actually use the mace/shield every so often. it’s super defensive and great in group play for support, while still dealing decent dmg, if you use the skills right. and the mace and shield combo just “looks” right
))
i still main a hammer and don’t mind the slow third swing of autoattack. you can mix in a dodge or reposition yourself (strafe around the enemies) to place the symbol and third attack because it makes a HUGE difference. an ally in need perhaps, or where all mobs are gathered. Guardian not do enough dmg you say? trying landing the third heavy hitting symbol of protection of 4 – 5 mobs and watch crits pop. then immedialty followed by a might blow for another set of crits.
i wouldn’t mind a bow for the Guardian either. you guys think this could be a possibility for future expansions / even patches? spirit weapon speaking, there’s GS, hammer, shield and bow. we Guardians can wield GS, hammer, shield and well… : ))))))
hey dastryin, like many have said, don’t take it personally! : )) we were’nt trying to put you down. and i merely said i haven’t heard any talk of legendary armor until now. and just suprising that there’s so little talk for it.
that being said, why didn’t you get rid of stuff from your inventory!!! though am sure if you saw it once, you’ll see it again. good luck and do post again when you do get it. ; ))
you can take a look in here : ))

and OH, to add, what orders are you in?
the Priory hammer is pretty neat if you’re into that kind of thing. the previews don’t work properly for these types of weapons so here’s a pic:

would definitely keep an eye on Lightning Hammer : )))
i’m working towards the juggernaut myself right now. and i know it’ll be a looong process. so try to see it as a bonus? i haven’t actively started farming for mats / karma / gold yet, but i’ve been slowly, but surely amassing the stuff i need! and in the mean time, i’ve found these lovely skins to mess around with:
1) glyphic maul – all the glyphic weapons look pretty darn cool to me. sported this for a long time, and the ends light up when drawn
D
2) lionsguard hammer – got the tier 1 and then transmutated the skin. LOVE this hammer right now and probs won’t be switching until i can get my hands on the legendary
3) a few quite like the magmaton – used it for a while but did not SUPER appeal to me so it’s sitting in my bank for now lol
4) Norn hammer – i forget the exact namne but i quite like the look of this one
5) orrian hammer – as someone else already mentioned!
6) Pact hammer! go check it out at the PvP (Heart of mists) locker. love this look and hopefully by the time i finish my story, they’ll be available for exchange.
so for me, it’s either lionguard, pact hammer, or juggernaut now : ))) MAY go back to glyphic haha cause it’s that awesome. would love the dark asuran one (red over blue for me) but we’ll see if i want to go through all thoese dungeon runs haha
i am a Guardian and avid hammer user. glad you’ve chosen it as your weapon of choice as well!
and don’t mean to create a wall of text, but foudn this on reddit a while back and it’s awesome
D crosscheck the names in PvP locker, guildhead or gw2db, wiki, etc etc
