is it confirmed? i thought it had to be … of Rage? well, apart from the fact that all precursors come with the Rage sigil?

over players have said they switched it, and i believe them too, so i only bring this up because while crafting corrupted weapons, the shaman’s etched “pre-cursors” have to be “Rage” as well. although, again, as i mentioned, there is only one pre-cursor for the Legendaries. whereas the shaman etched “pre-cursors” for the corrupted weapons have various versions..

just thinking out loud.
either way though, i personally wouldn’t switch the sigil and not even equip it and just use it for the crafting.

and oh, in regards to how being part of multiple Guilds shows on the Guild panel.. it’ll show the guilds you are in on the upper left window, top most tab.. then you can click on each that you are part of, and represent them when you want to. same way you repp-ed your first one (button on bottom of Guild panel / list or members, etc). hope that makes sense.

do you have a screenshot? it would be more helpful for people to help you if you can do so with ease. : ))) and first thing that came to mind was also the destroyer greatsword. that one’s kind of cool too.

and do what you want with it. i’d say the item itself is harder to come by than gold is. so i’m not inclined on selling it. unless if selling it will give you the gold you need for various items you’ve been wanting. you can also trade it for other stuff or trade + gold if some are willing. obviously, trading it can be very risky, although it’s been done before.

i fricking loved the jumping puzzle!!!
despite the many many tries (not TOO bad from hindsight actually), the hate from non-Norn or Charr characters.. because there was MORE good than bad.DDDDDD

- i thoroughly enjoyed the challenge! it was fun, exhilarating and when you finally make it up top it’s liek WOOOOOOSAAAAAAAAAAA. or, even when you make a personal best! the first time i made it up to the top of the stairs (even though i missed the jump i nto the clock tower itself lol), my heart was racing and hand semi-shaking
- the more worse the situation, the more you see people for who and what they can be —> when i was on the receiving end of many insults, etc, more players would stand up for me, or the situation. so thank you to those who did. i appreciate it.
- one of the BIGGEST takeaways from this event though, i would have to say, is that it’s REALLY honed in my jumping skills. or rather, to help me truly understand how jumping needs to be done in gw2. when i first did the WvW BL JP’s, i’d fall alot unneccesarily and felt that i MUST have a speed boost for it to work. now? i can do them wihout speed boosts, and run them without having to pause and adjust after each jump. can’t wait to try out all the other jumping puzzles now!

- i personally quite like the wrench, for humor factor.
- the gear cudgel is pretty cool.
- glyphic weapons are always fun – so glyphic mace
- would love to see what the Priory one looks in game (can’t see the green crystal effects on preview)
- the Pact mace (mornign star) i like a lot and have this skin actually
- Seraph / Golden mace i’ve always been a fan of
- Ascalonian / Ghastly mace is kewl looking

OP mentioned the POIs missing were in the Citadel. that one is a tough one and i have yet to finish. too many instances! lol.

@Waypc – didn’t you say you have all WvW maps completed though? both you and OP had similar numbers.. did you check all towns and home instances as well?

i’m from Hong Kong, and am on Sanctum of Rall. and a few of my friends are as well. to me at least, there are always people on no matter what time. have a bunch of guildies in the US but i always see them on also.

also, all the above mentioned servers, SoS, IoJ, CD, SoR are all quite active in terms of WvW. PvE it’s not bad in SoR, GMT +8 evenings are usually pretty decent and will always find people running around : )))

i see where you’re coming from as well. i think it’s kind of a neat aspect of the monthly. it… encourages, if you will, players to experience all parts of the game, that is part of the PvE world at least, we’re not forced to PvP right now. WvW mind you is very different i feel. i don’t enjoy PvP all that much but i love WvW.

if anyone’s on SoR here, who don’t love dungeons or WvW and want to for the achievments, lemme know. disclaimer: i am by no means an expert at any dungeon yet, only run a few handful of times, nor am i amazing at WvW but i love doing both. makes everything easier with a friend or party.

@ Glitch, i haven’t heard anything. in the past week, i’ve invited a few more (though more times than not, they’re already in! lol Bri or Lexy, looking at you! lol). i’ll try to pay more attention though. i’ll be frank, i’ve been distracted with the halloween events as well :/// but will make sure i am around more.

dungeon runs this month folk? especially since they monthlies are related. at least one of them, and i suspect the other two ???’s to be slightly related as well. haha.

and just wanted to share.. last night, i FINALLY completed the clock tower!D before i got inside, i was at the top twice and i just jumped straight into the goo, not even coming close to the clockface, lol. third time’s the charm!

can’t quote but @Amins brought up a good point. never feel it’s waste. true, it might not be what you intended, but if they used stability or dodge to avoid the RoW, you can better plan your next attack and make sure it’ll hurt them DOUBLE.

@Trung and Brutaly. ahh, now your previous convos make sense, regarding WoP and 2HM. since we were talking about different “animation skipping”. and interesting you brought up auto-attacking again, Brutaly. i’ll give it a shot again tonight and see if it makes a diff dodging to the side while using auto-attack, because you are in closer range as opposed to dodging backwards. i’d assuming dodging into your enemy would work as well.

i tested a bit last night but couldn’t get the 3rd hit animation to skip. namely the third hit would start at full, and i’d be getting the other animation skipping. which shaves time, but not as much obviously.

this CAN be extremely powerful, although it does take a lot of practicing. although it offers more flexibility if this was “intended” or will remain in-game, since i too believe it won’t be an easy fix if should one be needed. this also gives people a chance to not use 2HM if they have other traits they prefer but felt they needed it to pull the MB combo every chain. we’ll see how this pans out. but fo rnow, thanks for sharing!

@Fabsm! thanks for sharing your results. so you didn’t feel the vampirism runes were that effective? i might give it a shot still when i can, just to see the effects. i’d agree though it’d be more useful in PvE settings. i use this eact same build for PvE, dungeons as well as WvW and it’s worked wonders for me in WvW as well. i’ve been in situations where i’ve been able to take some players out while on the run (i always accidentally run into enemies mini-zergs O____o) or taken out 2, 3 man ambushes. and i don’t even consider myself a good player. this, to a certian extent, goes to show the power of the build. and i’m going to keep practicing! i’ve yet to take on a good thief though so we’ll see how that goes ; ))) but yes, condition dmg is the worst lol

@kitai – grats and welcome!D always feel free to PM any of us on here or just stop by this thread. lot of avid hammer users and Guardian lovers here. am sure you’ll enjoy it!

i play a hammer as well, and altruistic healing is not ONLY for the hammer. but that’s what many Guardians are starting to prefer. Onza brings up a good point in that with toughness, you get crit damage as well. naturally i love crits so i was building for that from the start, and it works really well with this build and the hammer.

back to your point though, if you prefer the shield for its aesthetics, that’s completely fine. half this game is about how you look. at the same time, we’re given so many weapon choices and the ability to weapon swap IN combat just gives us the option, and the option i believe we should all exercise. each weapon has it’s uses for any situation. and i don’t think there’s a weapon out there that trumps all.

the sword is great for DPS and being mobile. and the shield? i find it particularly good for against ranged mobs/enemies, as well as perhaps using the pushback to CC or hold up a choke point. so it definitely has its uses.

i have at least one of each weapon set in my inv. so i can switch on the fly if i know an upcoming battle WILL require me to put down my hammer (though more cases than not, i don’t lol) but it’s good to have those backups.

it’s also important to think of your build and traits, like Ojimaru mentioned. then you can truly dig into the details of how you’re going to work your sword and board. : )))

thanks for posting this Trung! whether or not it’s an “exploit” yet or whether you decide to use it or not, it’s still good to know what’s out there. at least, this provides some info as to what some of your enemies may be doing when faced up against them?

with the auto-attack chain, don’t think it’d be viable for them to simply cancel the auto-attack chain if interupted by a dodge. the mechanic now is that the chains are based on a timer if i understand correctly? and like Mimmik said, and myself, i use the dodge in between the hammer chain to better utilize and time the mighty blow attack to 1) heal and 2) trigger a combo. and that works for me. if this “skipping” isn’t intended, am sure there are other ways to go about it without hurting what’s working for some already.

Mimmik, i see your point as well, of course, if able to do this, you don’t have to do it every single chain attack. think of it as offering another viable option? or perhaps, you could give up 2HM and go for another trait you’d been eyeing. sure you might be doing two autoattk chains for each MB, but since each chain is that much faster… just a thought.

CULTURAL ARMOR.
like Lithe pointed it out already, sure you can get it after spending maybe 1 or 2g and get it on the first try, but it’s tough. and we’ve heard so many stories of people having spent 100’s of g into the mystic forge when the precursors were only around.. 100+ then..

or you can keep saving up until you can buy the pre-cursor and get it that way. if your outlook on the pricing of the precursors to keep rising. so you’d want to get that asap.

cultural armors i assume are here to stay so there’s no rush getting those. but if you want to look good and feel awesome, that works too. but i suggsted that because you mentioned you value the pre-cursor and legendary more than the cultural armor.

again, cultural armor is forever. price is static. precursor supply is dependent on who has it and if they’re willing to let it go at a certain price. price is volatile. again you could also argue that the prices will drop someday, but so far that doesn’t seem to be the case in the near future. but then again, that’s just me.

re: guilds – you can be part of up to 4 guilds afaik in gw2 at this moment. of course you can only rep one at each time, and i know certain guilds have their own house rules as well. but just through i’d throw that out there ; ))) i’m part of another guild as well and i rep the UNION’s guild every so often just to chat to people. haven’t had the chance to do any instances yet but hopefully soon!

@Brutaly – whew. good lol and thanks for clearing that up. that’s very interesting. i’ve neverexperienced “double symbols” before though but will see what others think as well.

though, on “bugs”, there are times when i hit MB, i actually see the animation twice! as in my Guard does two jumps successively. not sure if that’s just an animation issue because it was hard to tell from all the numbers popping up to see if it in fact hits twice. it happens randomly too so i might have to rememer to check combat log next time. has anyone else experienced this before?

@Carlos – that’s a very good observation. did you try Trung’s method and did it really significantly cut back on the timing? i thought of this as well during lunch.. if we are able to cut short the chain by that much, like you said, even with 2HM, we wouldn’t be able to pull a MB every rotation. i personally love using MB, so i might keep it, but i’m open to giving it a shot and try something else. if you prefer the shortened chain attacks, then i’d say go for it. and i wouldn’t say SA is the only trait you could choose though, since you’re only using one shout at the moment. there’s also longer lasting symbols and/or healing symbols to choose from. i’d say any of those would be quite beneficial in dungeons.

i’m running the same as you 0/5/30/30/5, WoE, 2HM and either EM or healing symbols depending on the situation. so far i’ve performed quite well in dungeons using this, as well as WvW! scepter and focus/shield as my second set usually. sometimes staff as second set in WvW.

however, i am shout heavy so i am considering using SA so debating which trait i’d want to switch out to try. i might take out healing symbols/EM for that. but we shall see! and remember, as long as not in combat, you can always switch up your major traits as well.

let’s hope they do fix the dodging out of the ring. better yet, let’s keep it hush hush for those who don’t know about that yet. :ppp

as for RoW, i find it quite useful but i do agree being planted to cast it OR the long cast time has to go. i can’t decide which would be more beneficial.. probably insta-cast though. with the long casting, if players know what’s coming, even if you are mobile, they could either interupt if you don’t have stability, or simply dodge / escape when it’s about to be cast.

though i have to say, once you have your opponent trapped, it’s awesome!D
another way to use it is if you see someone coming at you, cast it, they run into it fall. you can either dodgeroll towards them or mighty blow to them, then quicly #4 them into the ring. fall again. by the time they realize what happend, they’ll be done for.

i have a feeling it’s because people might feel the shield is extremely situational? i love having it with me in dungeons. there’s a similar thread asking about the shield. it’s good for when you’re against a lot of ranged enemies to absorb projectiles. useful for knockback / interrupting enemies. also for holding a chokepoint if you have multiple guards using shields and or also using line of warding.

if you’re looking for a ranged option, the scepter is pretty much the only ranged option! ahha but smite is extremely powerful and having an insta snare is good too. as mentioned, i personally use scepter shield in dungeons : )) or sometimes scepter focus if it calls for it.

the Guardians are very good at surviving innately, what with the mitigation skills we have, as well as healing. a lot of Guards trait for valor and honor as those lines are quite strong and offer pretty good synergy – the Altruistic Healing (AH) – a valor grandmaster trait and crithammer build for one has been receiving quite a bit of attention recently and that’s the build i play myself. you can check it out on the main page of the Guard forums as well.

depending on your level and if you’re doing mainly PvE right now, i would recommend get 5 in virtues for starters for all the added benefits to your virtues, as well as 15 into radiance. then you get spammable virtue of justice, which blinds, burns, as well as gives might. and even vulnerability on mobs if you traited for it.

what other weapons ets or skills do you like using? once we know mor einfo then more can help offer what traits would be beneficial for you : ))

@JumpingWarfish – nice! hha i have a friend who’s playing now from WoW. he originally said, meh, looks the same but a day later he beought the game, and he’s lvl 35 now lol. i expect him to stay ; ))) well done!

i always have shield on me, especially in DUNGEONS. for e.g. in CM, there are a lot of riflemen, turrents, archers.. so the shield helps a lot. also good for knockbacks

@ Coldheart – i’ve been using hammer for a while not, during early levels as well, so this crithammer build was not available to me yet but i still thoroughly enjoyed it. i usually played in a pair, and or solo while leveling and it served me well enough. slowly work towards in. though in the beginning and especially in PvE, i ran with 15 in radiance as early as i could, along with 5 in virtues for the spammable Virtue of Justice. some people still choose to keep it in their AH builds as well.

in terms of Power build, i personally feel the traits in the power line are slightly lack luster. there certainly is a build for it and power is always useful. however, the traits in valor and especially honor carry more synergy for the way i want to be able to play. perhaps someone with more experience with a power build would be able to comment more.

@ Lagonazer – good observation. they are quite different. although, Brutaly mentioned as well his timing was slightly off due to the lag so we can wait for his response as well. to note, in regards to animation skipping, i guess there is not JUST one way. the way i do it is closer to what Brutaly showcased in his video. i’m going to try what Trung displayed though. of course, to point out i don’t dodge in between every 2nd and 3rd hit. sometimes i’ll dodge after the third hit, or sometimes i won’t dodge at all and throw in a #3 or #4 if the situation calls for it. but it’s good knowing there are variou ways we can use this to our advantage.

@ Trung – very cool. thanks for the explanation. so the key for me would be to hit 1 during the roll. i often wait until near the end of the roll which doesn’t cancel as much as you’ve shown.

and that’s very key regarding avoiding interupt! espcially if going against people who know the animation and charge ups well. thanks again for this! using dodges wisely and timely can make all the difference in your gameplay. it does take practice though, so keep at it folk! i’m still trying to master this myself.

@Trung – WOAH, it’s that big of a difference?? just watched the video and i’ve been doing it similarly, but i’ve never gotten to cut it as short as your first demonstration! do you mind explaining how you perform this exactly execution wise? Brutaly, feel free to chime in here as well or anyone else who does this.

i have disabled auto attack to better time my attacks. so for the first two hits, it’s 1, 1 and then do you dodge immediately and then hit 1 again right after for the completion of the #1 chain? or do you hit 1, 1, 1 for the full chain and then dodge between the second and third hit? i want to say i’ve tried that and the third hit doesn’t come back in after the dodge since the dodge acts as a cancel iirc. so is it a matter of dodging right after chain hit 2 and then hitting 1 immediately?

@Brutaly – lol, does that mean i am doing it all wrong??? :/// as mentioned above, after watching Trung’s vid, i noticed i don’t cut my animation as short as that. although sometimes it’s close. i wouldn’t be able to run fraps at all on mine so i’ve never bothered. still appreciate the effort though! XDDDD especially for the one time policy haha

@ general public – just to add, the hammer may not be great in 1v1’s, but that’s precisely why you have a second set available. i don’t believe there is ONE weapon that is great in all situations. that’s why i carry every single item avaiable to me as a guardian in my inv. note i don’t play sPvP or tPvP. and if i can prep for the next battle, i’ll always switch around based on what i know is coming up. that being said, in PvE or against multiple enemies/mobs, the hammer is great and gets the job done very well.

as if this hasn’t been pointed out enough yet or clear enough, lol, Phase 4 will only run until Nov 1st? as will all the other halloween events? i was somehow under the impression that halloween stuff would run until nov 2. i haven’t completed the clock towerrrrrrr (i know i know it’s not required for in-game achievements.. but personally it does! haha).

and can we assume that phase 4 will be just the party, and all we need to do is log on and be there? : )))

great video and good to know what i think i am doing is pretty much what you’re doing lol. you move so fast between target switching and i love doing that too. lot more practice needed from my end though! this is a great display of how mobile you can be with the hammer instead of being rooted in one spot mashing #1 and your CDs when they’re up. and this is only using the first two skills available.

@Ryth – hit “Esc” or the cog wheel in the very top left for the main menu. then his Options and on the first tab you can check-off “Double tap to evade”. that does help a lot! ;DD

Norn reporting here. i really want to try rolling a small character to see the effect large characters has on other players. i tend to feel bad when people comment and i’ve read it. though, i’m on the small scale of Norn and i’ve run alongside some pretty big Charr or Norn, even some who have their spiky shoulders on. and true sometimes they seem to get in the way but i’ve gotten to a point where i judge my jumps more based on the center of my screen (where my character is).. least in the beginning phase when it’s all a jumble. then later on, everyone gets spaced out and you can see clearly. after more than a handful (or two) tries of the first bit, i’d say it’s, not easy, but doable to have it under muscle memory.

i run without body armor so it’s easier for myself AND hopefully for others as well. the first time, i had people lash out at me. started calling me names. “if you’re not here, i make it to half way at least fat butt”. edited for sake of what have you. so i said “sure, i’ll sit out next race. feel free to make it to the top.” they come back to the entrance after no more than a few seconds. without a second thought, i commented “back so soon?” and they didn’t say anything more. that was based on first instinct. i know i’m nowhere near as large as a Norn IRL. but i guess a part of me can’t help but feel conncted to your toon in a way. it is your creation after all. an alter-ego. this IS an RPG. so i lashed out. cause i took offense. then someone else in the instance said “no need to be rude we’re all in this together.” and that reminded me. i shouldn’t have stooped to their level. so whoever you are, naked Human, i apologize for my actions.

last night, things were taken to a different level where i was given death threats. more name calling and wishing of diseases and misfortune directed at me, using my screen name. i thought that was taking it a bit too far. i guess i could have ignored them. i did see them sit out a few races after and stopped talking so maybe they calmed down a bit. but they’d constantly shoot at me (ranger) or harass me in the general vicinity. at which point, an even larger Norn came in. and that just made me laugh. after my first “incident” though, i’ve learnt to not pay these people any attention. it is just sad though to see this as my server and the population itself has been so awesome and such a great community is fostering. and then you still see players like these.

when i left to go to bed, i wished everyone good luck. and then two more people chimed in, who never spoke up before and basically told me to GTFO. which left a sour taste in my mouth. regardless of how well i’m dealing with it. i can handle it. but doesn’t mean i have to enjoy it.

THAT being said though, i’ve met many a great players while doing this! and it’s so good when someone you’ve been running with finally complete it. i’ve randomly given out anything from free dyes to free ectos for those that complete the race. and have made a few new friends out of it. and while there are whiners and fumers and unacceptable behavior, there are those that stand up for the good of.. i guess, humanity, if you will. and have compassion. and are there for the sake of gw2, for the sake of having fun.

- “if an asura can do make it further than you, i don’t see the problem”
- “don’t hate them for being big, but yourself for being small. it is harder while there are larger toons around, but they have a right to be here too”
- people whispering me words of encouragement
- and just general peopel giving tips when they see you falling off at certain places. i’ve even had players stop and wait for me to take a difficult jumping before just advancing together.

i’ve debated using my human engi to get to the clock tower. but now? i’m just going to stick with my Norn. because he IS my main. and i’d like to get the achievement using him. (also the fact that queensdale doors are bugged and my engi gets one shotted in kessex hills doesn’t help ; ))) )

regardless – those who feel they are being targeted. pay them no mind! and do the jump puzzle if you enjoy it. leave the instance, with your head held high, until you find a good group. if you like the group you’re in save one or two inconsiderate souls.. remain composed and level-headed and if they can come to terms with it, they’ll stay and work with you. if not, they’ll leave on their own. do take your armor off. running barefoot actually helps.

sorry to those i’ve ever blocked as well – but hey! just upping the challenge for you. so you can tell your grandkid’s kids the days of when you made it to the top of the mad king’s clock tower, even in the face (and walls for backs) or the giant Norn and Charr.

just wanted to add that it’s only Queensdale where the events don’t spawn. only the very first one in the SW corner starts and repeats itself. the other two never show up.

Kessex hills and Gendarran is fine – at least i’ve been through the portals in both these maps just a recently

@ Brutaly – agreed! and i say this running rare MF gear (explorer’s for the prec) which is what i run usually. apart from WvW and dungeons then i switch to my rare Knight’s. i don’t even have full exotics or the appropraite jewelry yet so i am intrigued to see how much a difference it can make with a full-intended set made for this build. been practicing dodgeing in, out, and sideways as well for better positioning and making use of the field, position of my allies and mobs. way too much fun.

ahh gotcha, we’ll see if we chance upon one another then. and aww, hopefully you guys get to do it soon! it’ll last until the end of the Halloween even though i fi am not mistaken so we should have more than enough chances : ))

hey there! grats on becoming lvl 80!D i play a Guardian as well, so hopefully i’ll be able to help a bit.

it’s always fun trying to figure out how to gear out your character when you’re at that stage! and it hink i am still figuring out how i want to gear mine up. i think it ultimately depends on what you want to do. as you mentioned – open world exploration. i want to then ask though, are you planning on going for a legendary? or crafting other exoics?

so main thing first is do your best to map out what you want your sets for in terms or armor and weapons stats. then set goals for yourself and slowly work your way towards ’em. : )))

MF Set:
- i previously asked what you intend to “do” simply because if you want to amass gold and resources (ectos, and other rare mats, etc), then i’d suggest investing in a rare MF set. here is what i’m wearing, full rare explorer’s with superior runes of the pirate x and a superior rune of the traveller, and then green MF jewelry (opal? iirc) and that’s it for my MF set.

of course, it took me a while to build up and get the gold to buy this set (didnt’ craft it because my craft lvls weren’t high enough then) and i do feel it makes a difference in terms of drops. then you can start to sell / salvage the more rare items for gold / or crafting.

Armorsmithing vs Buying:
- for the MF set, as mentioned above, i just bought it because i wasn’t at that level yet with my armotsmithing. and after a lot of farming and gold i was able to slowly accumulate, i made my way to lvl 400 eventually
- if you’re going for the Exotic Draconic Armor set, i’d say go for the crafting. it’s a fun process (although does take time as well as resources!) but i want to say in the end it’s cheaper to craft yourself a set, rather than buying it, if you have the resources / mats and don’t mind farming / grinding. of course you can take into account all the money you can get if you just sold those mats, so it’s up to you. i personally want to craft my own armor.

Rare vs Exotic:
- again, as mentioned, i went rare first and then will work my way towards an exotic set. do note though, i am just going to stick with my rare MF set. i personally don’t feel the MF exotic set will make that much a difference since the MF% is the same on armor (both 3%). and i don’t have trouble surviving so far in PvE.
- i am working towards a full exotic Knight’s set as well. i currently have a rare set and will slowly work my way up to a full exotic set. i don’t like getting things piece by piece, lol, not sure why, so i am going to save up until i can get the full set in one go

Cultural Weapon vs Temple Armor (karmr)
- this is all up to you : ))) i feel the cultural weapons are more for the skin and for the armor, you can’t craft some of those stats so depends on what you’re looking for. i’m saving up all my karma for a legendary, so i can’t really comment here haha

i won’t say hammer is the weapon of choice for a Guardian. but it is THE weapon of choice for MY guardian. i play the kitten out of all weapons, but only as my 2nd wep set. first slot is and always will be the hammer.

to the support profession comments.. this is in general. people need to get out of their head that each class can only do ONE thing at any given time. i support when i need to, and i kill kitten when i need to. that being said, specc-ed for support AND dps. perhaps i won’t have the HIGHEST dps in game. nor will i have the HIGHEST healing. but i sure as hell do hold the line and stand my ground (ha). i am able to constantly give my allies boons, along with to myself, and am able to hit crits of up to 2k.

that being said, i can see similar numbers when i wield the greatsword. staff is great for travelling and when in zergs, i like to get hits in and tag mobs with #1 AoE, nothing gets better than that. and then when i’m comfortable enough i hit #4 give peopel around me stacks of might and then switch to hammer and finish things off. scepter and torch are great in dungeons for me personally or whenever i need to keep a distance from the mobs. mace to be honest i don’t use much. sword + torch or focus is great. highly mobile and good DPS as well.

as much as numbers can be supportive for a discussion like this, i feel what’s even more important is what each player likes and likes to play with. let me ask everyone in here, if you’re not interested in the hammer, why are you here? rather, let me spin that around a little, if you absolutely LOVE how the hammer plays, and someone tells you that it’s NOT the highest DPS weapon, are you just going to drop it? most likely not.

i appreciate numbers, but i don’t buy into it solely. if traited well and with the right stats and personal PLAY style, the hammer can hit a kittenload. am sure Brutaly and other players can more than attest to that. sure, GS definitely makes killing feels a lot faster, and i haven’t calculated the numbers exactly, but i love the hammer and how i’ve developed to play it. the AoE IS great on the hammer. and i’ve been abel to 1v multiples on WvW while i know for sure i wouldn’t be able to do so with the GS. sure you can say i am more familiar wiht the hammer, and thus, which is why i’m sticking with it. if i can take down several enemies one by one, i can definitely handle one.

@Brutaly – just wanted to let you know, been practicing even more and i think i’ve got the hang of the animation skipping and DOES make a big difference. though i’ve started to stand in place hitting chain1+2 while focusing on the timing of the dodge for canceling the animation. BUT i’m slowly getting the hang of it. now to further hone my target changing skills and symbol placement.

has everyone been enjoying the Halloween events thus far? i woke up late/early for the introduction of Act III. was lucky enough to get in even though i was on overflow (some party members were in actual, mayeb that helped?). woke up with a headache and now at work with the same headache. lol.

Clock Tower frustrations, anyone? ; ))) i absolutely love it t hough. haven’t made it to the top yet, but any tips here would be amazing! one thing to note, my jumping in this game has been honed a LOT just from the repeated attempts! so good stuff either way.

@Lexy – were you finally able to get in as a group? though i got booted shortly after talking to you guys last night. heard the servers are back up and running now and hopefully, this is all fixed!!

for charged lodestones, you have to farm like crazy. the current lodestone drop rates are pretty darn low. correct me if i am wrong, charged lodestones can be dropped from chests in Crucible of Eternity. as well as from the corresponding high-level elementals (i assume sparks? don’t quote me though)

they can also be upgraded using charged cores in the mystic forge.

or last resort TP them. but they’re above 1g each last time i checked.

for most professions, when you’re done with the “discovery” phase of insignias, etc.. you have to purchase the recipes for rares and exotics. this i believe is also required to reach lvl 400 in most crafts.

i want to say cooking is different? i haven’t done that one yet, but the same was required for armorsmith, jewel and wep smith.

i think you’re on a right track. say for e.g. the clock tower jumping puzzle, is it one of the tougher jumping puzzles in the game thus far? i haven’t completed it yet but it’s definitely honed my jumping skills (and traversing the world is so much easier now). and like you said, not just one jumpin gpuzzle to get a pre-cursor, but take all the elements of the game —> jumping / platforming, hunting, exploring, fighting ONE giant boss, fighting a giant mob and surviving, etc etc and what have you.. if they all pose a great challenge, or maybe 4 things you can get a pre-cursor. as opposed to the mystic forge get lucky method.

this puzzle is FRIGGING fun!!
so i haven’t gotten to the top yet, but i’m gonna keep tryign with the few days left and i know i’ll make it! i am slowly, but surely climbing to the top. i love the time limit factor of it. and when you start off as a bunch and then it gets thinned down until there are only a few left (i know they aren’t dying, so i can sit okay with that lol).

and on the side, even if i haven’t made it yet… my jumping skills have been honed a LOT cause of this puzzle! i am doing other puzzles and jumping in general so much better, for really having been pushed to learn how to jump precisely, when and where to launch yourself and how best to angle and position your jumps. great stuff!

these are great. i always forget to take sceens. haha didn’t do it against the mad king (a few guildies and i got in early! hopefully all the bugs and disconnects have been fixed now. and as for the cinematic.. it was TOO COOL!D too cool i didn’t start hitting screencaps until the Mad King was out and about and laughing all crazy. truly wicked event (ha). great job ANet, and i only look forward to more from you guys. : )))))
