Another issue, is that some people prefer to buy gems in bulk, then spend them over the course of weeks and months, while someone who just happened to buy the smallest amount of gems at the right time get free stuff. This is probably what happened to the guy who bought gems for 60 bucks, but before the time window was open, and now goes empty.

And the precedent is there. We had a full mini pack, now we have a kite. I think at this point, anything could come next, even weapon skins. If these bonuses are simply announced, like “buy gems for money from date x to date y and get a free z”, we’d have a win-win scenario: more gems will be sold, and no one is left out because they happened to still had gems left over from a larger bulk purchase before, or bought gems mere days after the window.

I kinda agree. While I still think it’s a great gesture from Anet that people get the free kite.
But I agree with you that if people knew they would get the free kite they would act on that fact.
But on the other hand there will always be complainers to deal with, those who do not buy gems and feel left out.

I kinda like all three of them. The storm catcher was around 4 gold when I got mine, is the wind catcher still more than that?

I don’t think it actually started triggering until the second or third day. It’s based off of finishing that one supply event, and that was basically impossible to complete at first.

Not impossible, but people are lazy to do that (running from bottom to top and waste 1s,60c (lvl 80) for getting to bottom again (if you want to run it a bit faster)). In addition, in first day this event is a “large area” event (meaning in first day, the requirement to finish this quest if only if every player bring the supply from bottom to top >>> which is why Anet nerf this event).

I didnt travel to the bottom just used the special skills to get back there. On some slow days even 2 people can finish this event.

Ok, I am really bad in jp’s, but I managed to get most of the kites. I have not done the griffon one yet, I heard that JP is a pita. And also I do not do pvp so the wvw jp is probably not for me unless I join a guild.
But if I can make the jp almost anyone can do it. And it gives some satisfaction to finish one, even if during the puzzle itself I am swearing like an Irishman.

You think this is instant? I found my mesmer in gw1 much faster than my gw2 counterpart. In gw1 the fast casting spec did wonders for me.

5 toons in total, 4 level 80’s and one in the 30’s. Trying to get the explorer with one of them, and that takes most of the time. Poor guardian is not getting to 80 soon..

The majority probably does not want mounts. I for sure don’t ever want to see it ina gw game.

If all of this is about leaderboards I feel kinda sorry for them, if you long live goal is to be on some internet list you got some other issues.

I agree with all but your last criticism. It is not a city, there are enemies so the no cost for travel is not justified. It would also make people more reckless in trying to get to the harder reachable areas.

Ah nice, I have if I remember 47, and 2 more I can see and have no idea how to get there. Cost me many deaths and I quit for a while.

With the pvp reqs for monthlies, I’ve never completed one. Oh well I guess….

There used to always be a ‘get x kills in wvw’ req in the monthlies. Although, perhaps not now since they changed them a bit. I’ve stopped paying attention to them, since WvW wasn’t really my thing.

You only have to do four of the monthlies to complete your monthly. I think it’s been like that since February. The monthlies have been pretty easy since then. I usually get them on like day 3 or 4.

WvW sounds like fun, but because of my non information I am sure you need to regear, respec and go use skills you do not touch in pve.

Its a problem because of every single thing in the bunch, I want the helm, and for 1 character. However, since I PVP, ankitten ot a PvEr, I only have 2.2k AP. 88% of the achievements are in PvE. THAT is why it sucks. Tiering it off only hurts peoples efforts, it doesn’t reward it. :/

Dont know much about pvp and achievements but if this is true it is kinda weird. PvP should get the same rewards as any pve imo.

You can already buy everything you need to craft a character to 80 with real money. I doubt a random item is going to make any difference.

^ This, crafting with the ingredients you have with your other chars is a couple of levels instead of one. And the chance you get a tome is not very high.

Fact to the matter is, Pvp’ers, like Elshagan said, are forced to PvE if they want to participate in the new content. So why not see some leisure towards them and at least let them have a cache or achievement in their ‘world’ so to say. If you want the achievement so bad, ask for help and go with a 10 or more odd people. You will defo survive until the end.

afaik we do not try to harras or grieve PvP players that come to join PvE?

Agreed, with the OP. It makes no sense that there are guides for new content is there even before the content. Stupid move.

Here’s some things to avoid when trying to do OS:

1. Don’t go in the first few days after new content is released. It will be camped.
2. Don’t go in on a weekend. Its generally the busiest.
3. Don’t go in mid afternoon/early evening. Thats generally when the chest resets for people.
4. Don’t go inside waving and bowing to everyone you see. You will get killed (I kill these people more than people who do nothing).

Here’s some points on how to do OS:

1. Early morning or late night are perfect times. I can do the puzzle and not run into a single person.
2. Don’t go in by yourself. Gankers will question jumping groups.
3. USE THE STEALTH. You can make it to dark room (and even the arena if you don’t need a torch) stealthed. There are 2 fountains before the well, and 1 past the arena. Dark room/arena should be your only difficulty ever.
4. If you are getting killed, take a breathe, and try again in an hour. If gankers don’t get kills they will leave. OS is very boring when there’s no one in it.
5. Hang around EB for a while before you go in. You might have a mesmer in there offering ports.

OS is doable for anyone, you just have to know the flow.

All good ideas, but none of them sound like fun. I will get really annoyod when I finally get to the end and some moron fears/knock me off. It will be my personal mission then to find this person in real life
