Maybe go look at builds on metabattle. I don’t think ele is the best choice for condition build, but if you really want to play that, suit yourself. You might also maybe wait after the patch, things could change a bit.

Ele is one of the best as a condi class, so much interrupts, burning, bleeds and of course can easily escape from combat if needed…. Necro condi is strong with condi but against a condi ele with diamond skin trait :S it also has no escape in wvw, engi condi is melted by condi ele build, condi thief (I wont bother with this one XD)

I have edited the build for you now with all my recommendations, follow the trait, the food (I have changed the food for you), gear and you should have a high condi dmg bunker ele:

The traits speak for themselves, but I will break it down for you, fire trait, Ember’s might increases burn by a lot, you will be burning your enemy a lot, fire’s embrace is very important it gives you an aura when activating a signet, also because of the trait in earth, the aura grants you protection, -33% dmg O_O (you need to maintain this). Blinding ashes is really useful here because it gives blind, and as I said this build is built to inflict burning by the shovelful….

Earth trait strength of stone is self explanatory (you gain a ton of condi dmg), and grandmaster trait stone heart means you will not be critically hit when you are attuned to earth (no pesky crit hit backstab from thieves)…

Arcane trait, windborne dagger for speed in wvw, also creates a free utility slot for arcane shield, mist form, armor of earth etc, take your pick….

The gear I have listed is mandatory don’t change these at all, the food is koi cake and Master tuning crystal (you can change to quality tuning crystal if you want)….

Also in wvw your defence will be 3000+ your condi dmg will be 2000, and the trait change for tomorrow will buff this build even more, especially the signet of fire.

For the rotation, you as an ele cannot just stick to one attunement (you will be killed easily if you do in wvw). For this build I will tell you my rotation:

1) When you seen an enemy or enemy creeps up on you you should always be attuned to air, air skill 5 Gale knocksdown your enemy for 2sec (it can also interrupt if it does perplex runes activeate giving your enemy confusion), plenty of time to use both the signets fire and earth (with food I recommended, fire signet procs burn for 27 and a half sec >:), when both of the signets have been used you get aura and protection maintain it, also use skill 4 swirling winds to destory pesky projectiles (rangers, engi grendaes etc).

2) Then quickly attune to fire then use flamewall skill 4, pop skill 5 more aure and protection, then drakes breath skill 2 and follow up with buning speed.

3) This stage is optional but I will include it anyway, attune to water, then use skill 5 immediately (if it hits more confusion from perplex runes) then use freezing gust skill 4 then frozen burst, then a quick cone of cold to heal yourself. Bascially you have loaded you enemy with a ton of condi on top of chill that slows down cd of skills on your enemy.

4) Last rotation is earth (very important for bleeds), use magnetic grasp if enemy is running away for immob and leap, afterwards use ring of earth then spamskill 1 to inflict bleeds, also use magnetic wave if you have condi on you it removes 3 and also reflects projectiles, the most important skill 5 obsidian flesh make you invulnerable for 4 seconds good for stomps and making sure you have no dmg on you

5) Repeat the rotation and signet use and no enemy should be a problem, if its a back stab thief though you might find it challenging as you are new to ele, but attune to earth use immob, skill 4and 5 then spam fire attunemt skills and it should not be hard at all…

The good thing about this build is that you can chase enemy, they will be running away from you a lot >:) use elite skill fiery gs to chase then activate earth signet then fire signet then close gap further with fire attunment skill 3 leap.

Basically you are making use of the 3 most damaging condi in gw2: burning for long periods, confusion for long periods (with changes tomorrow confusion will also do extra dmg to enemy) and bleed….

Anyway practice makes perfect, follow my instructions and you should do fine.

Though you might want to move the 2 points from water to arcane and take windborne dagger so you can have a free slot (arcane shield highly recommended)….
Also take stone heart so no one can crit you when attuning to earth. A pretty powerful build against d/d ele meta and even d/f + s/f fresh air eles… trust me you will be chasing the d/d “meta” ele and killing them easily….. Remember to maintain constant protection boon. PM me in game if you want to know more about attunement rotation, different from d/d meta and will catch most opposing players off guard >:)

Just follow the build shown above and change the stuff I recommended, and you will be a tanky, heavy condi ele, though if you happen to be a new player perplexity runes may be a bit expensive for you (though very, very highly recommended, especially with the new condi changes coming up on tuesday) in that case go for dire runes, enjoy

How is this a “hidden” expansion price thread lol, I am on the same boat that £34.99 is a reasonable price for expansion but if “veteran” players want to feel special then some form of reward excluding the normal stuff given in yearly anniversary of a character would be relatively well received by veteran players….

Beta access for me, title is a bit naff but I have it on my character to show something new in wvw, Also I want to support anet, it’s done a lot of stuff for free so you know give something back aside from gemstore micro transactions.

Just boycott the trenchcoats they are ugly and the design is copy and pasted to nearly all of the medium armor, it feels as if the same person who designed the Ai for necro minion also had a great idea to rush the medium armor…..(though it’s probably untrue)

I bought this mini yesterday, couldn’t preview it or anything not even on mini tabs.. I love the simplicity of this mini but it’s too small make it as big as the golden pig……

Was having a discussion about the regalias with people in Lions Arch, most of them are more or less saying that Grenth won’t have a regalia because of the Grenth mask already being available. What do you guys think???

Also anet if you read this don’t skip Grenth he is my favourite gw2 god, make his design even more epic than balthazer’s regalia….. I want my Heart of thorns twilight swinging necro to look kitten……

Hello wsr person, most of your allies are either too scared or too lazy to deal with us vabbians…. I know that right now vabbi is at the top against fr and wsr, but we are more worried about fr than your server, simply put because with fr even if its a group of 6 against 15+ they won’t stick their tails between their legs and run away for dear life, they will stay put and defend till they die even if they are outmanned……. With wsr even if its 5 wsr against 2 vabbians most of the time people from your server will run away or let us kill you in your state of panic….

Also I do not know if you know the OTAN guild of wsr server if you see them please kindly tell them we have a squad of people targeting their every move and making sure to spread the word that they should change the title of their guild to “users of mega cheese build” instead of “terror against noobs” LOL because they are hypocrites using full p/d perplex thieves, pu mesmer, etc (however they still get owned easily by any of our players XD).

In closing I would like to say please as a commander of wsr tell your people to man up at least…. becuase us vabbians did not use to hightail or suddenly become living statues against the “outnumbered buffs” (the outnumbered buff used to be very common in vabbi until 2 months ago but still we held our ground and were and still are advancing in wvw), that is why we are owning both fr and wsr servers……

Don’t get me wrong I don’t absolutely hate this game as I wouldn’t have bothered crafting 4 legendaries if I did hate it completely, all I trying to put across is that us condi necros are going to have an even harder time in wvw and this means no way in hell the necro will be able to solo wvw, I mean its not as if they can do it now anyway… And I won’t believe anyone who says they are effective as a solo necro in wvw ie being able to cap towers solo etc, or being able to clear ogres, hylek, mole people quickly with just conditions…..

I can see this being a cool boon to have in pve against monsters who do lots of condi dmg. But this in pvp will drop any use of condi’s that are barely used as it is. Condi dmg really needs a much closer look / fix.

Ok, I will wave goodbye I know it has boon strip but only 1 in the trait line “path of corruption” big whoop (any good player can didge that) also you will have to sacrifice utility skills to take up wells to convert boons to condi (most condimancer don’t even use wells), I get we have corrupt boons but the sheer number of condi duration reduction will make it useless, oh and it can be dodged easily (I guess if corrupt boons was an aoe it woukd be OK)… Any way imagine this scenario you as a condimancer up against a player with full zerg stats, minus 40% condi duration food, runes eg melandru ones or hoelbrek, condi cleanse (in case you don’t know I am talking about a normal warrior build I use as an example, I use this build to counter condi builds (yes I even kill champion phantoms and champion genius soooo eeasily), anyway by the time you cast signet of spite, fear etc the condi will have been cleansed and the opponent will have Resistance…….. Dont forget warrior’s berserker stance……and one stun and a few atks later u are dead as all your main condis and utilities are in looonnnngggg cooldowns (necros specifically)
And condi engi, pu mesmer, condi war, condi thief, condi ranger lack boon strippingggg……….

Because from now on as if people don’t haven enough condi removal already, and minus condi duration food available, us condi users will have to deal with this boon….

I was going to post this on the “bugs” section but anet rarely even looks at it…

So why hasn’t the writ of Experience instant rez still not been fixed, its so annoying when fighting someone in an open ground in eb (wvw) near sm (no mobs) or anywhere else without mobs, when the thief (mainly p/d) or guardian you are about to stomp suddenly gets up with full hp all conditions wiped out by using the freaking writ of Experience, just bloody ban it from wvw (you did it with the executioner’s axe), this is just pure ignorance from anet….

I have reported about this ingame 3 weeks ago and also today because mainly the server Fissure Of Woe (bloody cheaters still loose against our server though) seems to be the big abuser of this insta rez…. its as if their bloody commander tells them to ready writs of experience as soon as they enter wvw (wtf).

Please, please anet fix this, it has been going on for far too long, and as a dedicated wvw player, along with other wvw players in my server we are really starting to get kittened of with this game.. This will influence certainly me and my wvw friends and guild on whether we will continue playing gw2 or not and buying the expansion pack……

Also it is clear that they are using writ of Experience because they stand up with golden glow and full health (no thief or guardian or any profession has that skill, vengeance might look similar but it has the icon, and anyway I main a warrior so I would know)….

I have had this happen to me excessively today when I was commanding in Eternal battleground (wvw). I have not repeatedely said the same sentence at all or spammed on chat….. The “your message is supressed sign” keeps on coming up and I am unable to command at all, because I cannot tell people where to go. The message is getting really irritating and only appears when I am using the “thief” character of my account….

Please fix this as soon as possible this message is really hindering my gameplay…
I was unable to grab a screenshot as I got frustrated and stopped playing and only realised I should have taken a screenshot after I had closed the game……

Also I am not a Big talker so I always keep my messages to the minimum (people never ask me to repeat myself), I have seen other commanders type long sentences and repeat one command 3 or 4 times but they do not hav supressed message notification…..

I just bought the Imperial Outfit from the gemstore after seeing it in peachy’s new video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqmZEnKXjw4)…. Wow anet you have impressed me and my mini steam golem once again, after the raiment of the Lich outfit I though anet wouldn’t be able to top it for me, but the imperial outfit beats all boundaries, it is now my number 1 favoutire outfit in game (I have all gw2 outfits ;P)….

Anyway I wanted to show my character wearing the outfit, it looks phenomenal, btw the hammer is mjolnir (it can’t be seen properly, but looks epic in game)…

I need to use the oufit with incinerator and bifrost, but haven’t have time to take screenshots yet… Any way hope you enjoy

Anyway is there a guide or a method to do it, I am somehow on tier 2 of 5 of that achievement, I don’t know how (I think I bought random cultural armour ages ago). How much is the total cost for the title, where do you even start, I would really, really appreciate advice from people who already have “The Emperor” title…

I have started to play mesmer after a 6 month gap (too busy on thief), I used to run a pu build for wvw but I found out it was extremely slow. I want to try mesmer gs and staff build, what builds are viable for this. I checked metabuild for gs and staff build but it does not show a build for wvw only pvp, anyway any help would be much appreciated.

Once a ranger learns how to cancel RF and when to swap to melee, his pvp skills skyrocket.

I agree completely if it’s a longbow ranger and you are using whirling dagger you know he’s a noob ranger but when they learn to use melee weapons dun… Dun ddunnnnn… Also there seems to be a rise of really good condi trap ranger with so much stealth maybe the Op talking about that….

OK kind of like the traits I am using at the moment, I am using a full dire condi (I know cheeseXD build, im new to thief), but what gear stats to use…….. Any link to the build using p/d +d/p together would be a boon.

Just use hammer… Works for me especially when they are in shadow refuge…. Though I have trouble fighting a p/d thief…..

Yesterday I was in wvw with a group of 3 people including a commander (vabbi server, late at night so not many of our players active) and we were ambushed by a group of 6 all lvl 80, it was 2 guard, 2 engi and a thief. Basically we killed everyone except for the thief, she was using a p/d and d/p build so she more or less had perma stealth and a shed load of condi that managed to take down our guard and staff ele (I found out later he was a zerk ele XD). So are there any builds for d/p and p/d, I tried to come up with one but i am new to thief and haven’t really got the hang of using initiative efficiently.

I am new to ele d/d build, I checked the meta build website and found out that celestial stats are required, I then realised for some reason the crafting of celestial gear needs a kittening timed gate charged quartz stone (5 each for one piece of gear). Anyway I have managed to make 12 and after endless efforts to buy celestials from tp found out that celestials are account bound (because apparently they have the best stats “sarcasm”).

Anyway sorry for lengthy rant is there any alternative to celestial gear that fits into the current meta build for d/d ele. I only do wvw solo and pvp.
Also I have heard of condi ele with perplexity runes, any links of videos and build to this would be a god send, (I love conditions)….

Ps: i am still crafting celestial just don’t want to wait to play ele.

I have just sold eternity for 4800 gold (I listed yesterday) and it got sold just now for 4800 gold, however I don’t get that the fact that I only receive 4350 gold, is it tax for using tp, because I had to pay 250 gold just to list eternity on the tp. Either way any explanation would be helpful, I am not too unhappy with 4350 gold anyway as I though eternity sold for much less

You really liked the Jungle Outfit, it did nothing for me, my first reaction was wtf, I myself confess to owning every one of the gemstore outfit, my most recent favourite is the Raiment of the Lich outfit, but seriously the Jungle outfit does nothing for my characters and they are as diverse as you can get XD…..

I stupidly just found out about this (wasted buying bifrost when I should have bought sunrise from tp and then would have got a bifrost for almost nothing and have extra gold, as I already have a soul bound twilight). Hello everyone, I am at a stage where I want to craft my last legendary (have 2 already but never use, because thief cannot use them), I know how hard the grind is but I have started to play as a p/d condi thief and it is very addicting (more than staff/gs mesmer anyway). I wanted to craft incinerator at first but after thinking about the effect of bolt it seems much better. I would have started to craft bolt but I don’t think there are any meta builds for a sword/? Thief, if there is please mention to me. I only do wvw/pvp and solo most of the time.

Anyway what are your opinions on whether I should craft bolt or incinerator (based on appearence and usefulness), please bare in mind this will absolutely be the last legendary I craft (too much grinding), and I am also thinking of leveling a warrior will sword be useful?? Also I am in the process of crafting celestial gear for my d/d ele….

I am really starting to get annoyed with this game, when there is a lag my char just stands still does nothing, can’t use any skills at all, and when I have to force close gw2 and I log on I am dead, wtf, I wasn’t even getting attacked (pve) and also the same for wvw, gw2 lags then, when I log back on I am dead, I was inside my world’s keep, it was not under attack or anything. This lag has only happened more after the feature patch, I think.

So frustrating, I get we have lag sometimes but when you are dead for no reason its just the tip of the iceberg.
Is this supposed to happen?

Oh srry I meant cloak and dagger initiative use, so less initiative is needed for it to be used, because when the move misses too much initiative is lost.

I am new to thief and have started to use the condi build, steal seems to be a very useful skill for burst, however I am extremely confused on how steal cooldown works. I have been to http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Steal but I still do not get how steal cooldown is calculated or reduced if I invest fully (6 points) in the “trickery” trait line. I have done the math properly (I think) but I still don’t get how the trait line effects steal cooldown, right now the recharge for steal for me with 6 points in “trickery” is 27 seconds, is this right??? because I have seen discussions on the forum where steal recharge is 21 seconds….. Also how can I reduce cooldown of cloak and dagger.

Any help would be extremely helpful, thank you, a very confused “thief”………

I have seen a lot of people with eternity on the vabbi server, is eternity worth getting. I already have twilight (my favourite effect) and sunrise but haven’t soulbound sunrise what is special about eternity can I choose the effect whenever I want, also does it have extra infusion slots?

Just asking as I dont want to waste 2 gs for eternity and it having a sunrise effect.

I have just seen the endless mystery cat tonic and want to use it in wvw for “fun”…. If I use superior traveller rune set will the speed be retained even after I have transformed?
