Added a new combat/movement toggle option: “Right-Click to Attack/Interact”.

Finally I will not lose my target anymore every single time I rotate the camera. Should have come much earlier after endless complaints, but better late than never I guess.

Looks like it’s hard for Elona when it’s a proper 1v1v1 and not a 1v1 with spectator

Outside of holidays and the rush of entering T1 again Elona doesn’t have the 24/7 coverage to deal with a full strength Vizunah and much less two servers perfecting the PvD at night and bunkering during the day gameplay.

With the exception of a few forum only warriors we knew that before this week of course and didn’t expect any more easy wins.

PS: Unless you go full elixirs the new Southsun Cove is a pita for Engineers with all the conditions being thrown around. Way to go Anet.

CF 409 is available at the 2nd tier for elixirs. Medkit has #4 for frequent cleanse. Our new respanked healing turret is also pretty great for conditions. Haven’t noticed a problem.

You have to equip elixirs for 409 to be useful, 3 at least. Med Kit #4 cures one condition on a 15s cooldown.

409 build, Med Kit and healing turret are mutually exclusive by the way.

I’m not sure what class you’re playing, but a fully geared DPS grenade spammer is the best zerg buster in the game. That’s one role right there.

Yes, I play both fully equipped and extensively in WvW. EU T1 and T2.

Well kodash doesn’t even try to fight against js or they are just little bit stupid.

Fighting Jade is much more difficult than it may sound. They’re basically a carbon copy of Vizu, just with less people. Great at playing for points, but unless they have vastly superiour numbers they’ll try to avoid open field battles and run like hell to their next tower or keep.

It’s funny to see how each serv saw the other serv in the exact same way…

Kodash players being married to their arrow carts has been a running gag amoung Elona players even before ANet buffed them, but other than the occasional troll neither server accused the other of being cowards hiding in their keeps. Kodash were probably the only server to build arrow carts in open field battles before the buff.

And rightfully so. It was them who decided to go for the glicko system and it was them who designed WvW in such a way that capping everything at night and bunkering during the day is the most effective playstyle by far.

For all its failings even Warhammer Online had some measures in place to prevent that.

The only way to address this issue is to discourage PvDooring at night and bunkering during the day. Otherwise history will just repeat itself once Elona and whatever other server replace SFR and Deso.

Unfortunately ANet went in the exact opposite direction with the changes to arrow carts.

Nice idea Xsorus. Do like the builds you continue to come up with for us Rangers, but my only issue with them is that you make use of racial skills which are not available to all of us. Would like to see a bit more vitality and at least 3k armour, could probably drop the crit dmg/chance a bit for this.

I actually like that fact.
Why do something everyone can copy? Racials are used way too rarely anyway.

Most of them range from meh to absolutely terrible. Technobabble and Pain Inverter ( before the confusion nerf ), the Sylvari root thingy are/were good, but that’s pretty much about it.

PvDoors at night and bunkering during daytime was the most effective strategy even before the patch, see Vizunah Square and Jade Sea. This playstyle received a huge boost with these changes.

How on earth can you consider that a good thing ?

Strange to see people opposed to this. Its one of the few changes I actually completely agree with. I like what it does to the current mentality and finally defending will be of some use. Perhaps this would be less prevalent in lower tiers, but AC was really doing nothing in Tier 1 99% of the time. Doors were being busted down on 30-60 seconds and the 3 players manning AC were completely ignored. Now its not just a rush the door affair and people need to think and play a little more tactically.

So you are saying 3 defenders should be able to fend off 40+ attackers indefinitely ? Ok…

Properly built and manned defenses did just fine before this patch already.

These changes promote blobbing and bunkering in keeps with a crapload of siege. Things the overwhelming majority have been complaining about recently.
Theres a reason T2 servers are desperately trying to avoid going up a tier, theres reasons T1 servers routinely fall apart and the current T1 servers are desperately trying to get the hell out of T1.

The “winner” will be disappointed, Jade Sea has the exact same playstyle, the night express is just slightly smaller than Vizunah’s. ( In theory Kodash and Elona Reach could conspire to let Jade Sea advance into T1, but they’re at each other’s throat way too much for that to happen. )

These 2 changes have buffed vizunahs play style.
They’re idiotic changes.

The changes to the healing turret look interesting, considering the global issues with turrets I have my doubts if a healing turret based build can really compete with any of the currently popular ones though. Combining healing turret with any of the might stacking builds isn’t really an option unfortunately, HGH needs the slot for the elixir, Enhanced performance for Med Kit.

Adding an indicator for KR being off cooldown is a nice touch. Too bad they had to nerf the trait into the ground before they thought of that.

I guess everyone saw the confusion nerf in WvW coming. We’ll see how the whole boon hate thing works out.

Other than that it mostly looks like the Engineer class will be even more clunky to use in the future. I certainly won’t start slotting turrets and gadgets in their current form, no matter what they nerf and how badly. I’ll just play the class even less or finally completely shelve it.

CoE set minus the head and shoulder slot. The fro needs some fresh air. Shoulders are the Orr karma set. For the rifle have a look at the Spectral Wave Modulator.

With the exception of very few select encounters no class makes or breaks a dungeon group in this game. No, not even a Ranger.

Certain classes will help to complete a dungeon much faster or safer though and the rest just makes up the numbers. Necro is part of the latter group and as long as ANet does not revamp the content completely, no amount of lamenting by a few posters on this forum will change that.

For the same reason warrior zerker teams are so effective, i.e. dungeons being super easy once you know them and are at least a somewhat competent player, most PUGs won’t care much what class you are however, because you can beat the existing content with pretty much any combination. It just might take a little longer and one or two more wipes.

Just avoid GW2lfg adds looking for super rush jobs or specifically war/guard/mes and you should be fine. If you want to run CoE for the first time you really have to tell your group beforehand though. If even one group member doesn’t know certain mechanics this dungeon can be a huge pita.

Depends on what part of the content you’re looking at.

Engineers are one of the harder classes to level, middle of the road in dungeons and WvW and strong in tPvP ( only a very limited range of builds is viable there, but that applies to most classes ).

There are two problems with the HGH condi build:

1. It’s too well rounded, you don’t have to sacrifice anything. Ironically enough virtually all the other Engineer builds have the exact opposite issue, you have to specialize to even do kinda ok at the thing you’re specializing in yet still retain considerable weaknesses thanks to the hybrid tax.

The conclusion is pretty simple: To adjust the build, ANet need to target it very specifically rather than carpet bombing the class again like they love to do if anyone comes up with a way to build around the inbuilt deficiencies.

2. The build can overwhelm even dedicated condition cleansers without too much trouble. This is a meta game problem and will have to be solved accordingly.

Unfortunately we’ll probably see another blanket nerf, hurting other builds much more than HGH…Remember that there are other way to stack might as Engineer for example and that users of Enhanced Performance or AoE might stacking through bombs and FT would be completely destroyed by nerfs to might duration runes.

What do you think? Personally, I think the odds are around 65 or 70%.

The only time a popular off build for engineer didnt get nerfed right away in the next upcoming patch was when SD first became popular.

SD also hasnt been nerfed since then.

So on the same note i predict that there will be no nerfs to HgH specifically.
Maybe a general Might nerf as Might stacking can be abused on other classes as well

HGH conditions is a much more well rounded build and overall considerably stronger than SD though. In an SD centered build you have no defenses to speak of while getting moderate burst at best in return. There’s a reason hardly anyone is using it these days.

Less build diversity. That’s pretty much it, the buffed stuff ( turrets, flamethrower before this patch ) is still only good for gimmick builds.

2. Kill them withl LB/SB and pet.
3. Use Barrage and Entangle for some additional tags.
4. Rake in more bags than pretty much any other class.

The popular builds have taken a hit, but it’s not all bad. It just seems like it is because it’s easy to forget the buffs because few people actually use the builds that benefit.
This is why those obscure builds got some buffs and the ever-popular instakill builds and super-bunker builds keep getting nerfs, to promote variability and even out the playing field.

Last patch did the exact opposite. It’s basically HGH conditions or gtfo now.

Your team seems to be a little heavy on the tanking side. In that regard GW2 works quite differently from most other MMOs – It will not make things take a little longer but safer, usually quite the opposite actually.

With the amount of damage mobs put out and the limited healing, avoiding damage by dodging/blinding/cc is always the substantially better option and a glass cannon can do that just as well as a heavy tank.

Encounters are balanced accordingly and most dungeons will have one or multiple fights requiring you to bring big AoE damage. Warriors are best for this by a very large margin. If your warrior were to go for a dps oriented greatsword/axex2 build, you’d probably have a much easier time when being swarmed by little mobs.

Elixir H, HGH, & Enhance performance

Only using the skill on “6” ( or whatever you have remapped it to ) will trigger “on heal skill use” stuff. No matter if it’s actually a heal ( switching to med kit isn’t afterall ) or if any other skill is a heal. It won’t trigger on Med Kit’s toolbelt skill either for example.

If this is WAI, well, your guess is as good as mine.

Grenade PvE DPS Static/Mightstack

Only thing you’re missing out on are the 6 orbs, i.e. 12% crit dmg and 84 Precision. In return you get a substantial boost to Power and condition damage. How much exactly depends on how many stacks you keep up, but at 35 Power/cndition dmage per stack you’d be ahead regarding Power with 4 stacks on you already.

Aside the doom and gloom thinking of my above post, I would like to add this:

I find it nearly impossible to come up with a build even half as viable as the whole condition HGH thing.

Isn’t confusion damage still halfed in s/tPvP ? Combined with Anet’s tunnel vision regarding that game mode as the only relevant one that would explain the otherwise completely ridiculous Prybar buff as well as the effectiveness of confusion centered builds in WvW.

Elixir builds having the best survivability by a huge margin and close to or the best damage at the same time is failed design either way though of course. This will have to be adjusted sooner rather than later and judging by the way ANet have handled the class so far we’re in for some more sweeping changes in the very near future. If those in turn will promote more build diversity…Right now I have my doubts.

Tagging and 1v1 in WvW

Between marks, wells, epidemic, DS 4 and plague form, Necros have a plethora of tools for AoE tagging. Keep in mind that you don’t need to run a condition damage build for Epidemic to be effective, spreading around Chill, Vulnerability, etc. will help your side tremendously as well.

Kill Shot is very effective in WvW zerg situations and can indeed one shot players ( into down mode or from down mode to dead anyway ). In a 1v1 Rifle Warrior is bottom of the pile though. The two big hitters are easy to spot and evade.

I for one am sick and tired of having to come up with new ways to work around the class’ deficiencies after every patch. The tinkering with KR ( in Feb and March ) is more of a last straw thing then the sole cause of frustration.

I could go HGH and conditions like pretty much every other Engineer who’s still playing I guess, but I really don’t want to and that means I’ll just play one of my other characters instead.

HGH Power Build vs. SD Burst Build

SD and a more survivable elixir build do not necessarily have to be mutually exclusive, at least not in WvW, where not going all the min/max way can be acceptable if it provides some other benefit.

I’ve been running a 30/0/0/20/20 framework for quite a while now using Med kit and Enhanced Performance for might stacking and changing traits as I need them. With two elixirs in the utility slots and 409 I get most of the advantages of an elixir build, while swapping in Rifle Turret, Tool Kit ( and Backpack Generator for some passive defense ) will let me take full advantage of SD.

The gear required is the same anyway, basically Sigil of Battle, Power, Precision, Crit dmg and toughness/vit where you can fit some in.

Don’t forget that an elementalist made a youtube video with exactly the same premise several months ago, only he talked about how much better he got after switching to thief. No one considers eles underpowered now, so perhaps in time we’ll get there, too.

ANet obviously had a pretty good idea of where they wanted to go with the Ele and took it there relatively quickly, while the Engineer changes have been all over the place and more often than not contradictory.

Sure, they’ll probably get there eventually. I wouldn’t bet a Dime on that happening anytime soon though.
