I agree with new armor skins. And enough of this RNG crap from boxes. If they continue down the path where the only way to get new and unique skins = RNG and gem store, bye bye!

I dont mind spending in the gem store, but if its all rng and gem store, no you aren’t earning my coin.

Dont get me wrong, Im all for new skins. I think skins are the bread and butter of this game, at least they should be. But I don’t agree with your reason.

Do you think my thief would want to shoot unicorns out of his shortbow, with free advertising for arenanet(logo stamped on his butt)? Probably not. This is assuming I ever get my precursor for it.

But its still a good weapon/idea.

So if they put in a legendary that is more necro-like, it will alienate all of the other classes capable of wielding that weapon.

Karka Queen not awarding chest

cesmode.4257

Hi,
I just completed the karka queen for the 3rd time since last nights reset. I understand I dont get the little “daily” chest that bobbles back and forth in the corner of your screen more than once. But from what I understand is that I can loot the big chest in the middle multiple times. Ive completed it on my thief once, and now on my necromancer twice. Yet, it did not spawn this time for my necromancer and I was at the entire event.

Bugged? Or is it 1 daily chest per day per account, and 1 big chest per day per character?

I’m near the end of my legendary process. All I have one set of very expensive mats and a handful of dungeon runs to knock out. This is how I’ve been making 10-15 gold every time I do it.

I go on an “ore run” which is simply a gathering node stomp through the high level zones. I use the T5/T6 nodes like I used the hearts when leveling: As a framework for running around in the world. Along the way I stop for any DE that strikes my fancy. Specifically the mob heavy ones. I keep an eye on event timers and hit up any of those I feel like doing.

This can literally take from a little less than two hours to as long as I want for full completion. Just depends on what I feel like. I am currently hocking every single thing I get from these runs excepted for Charged lodestones, and my average is coming in at about 13 gold a night. I got hot with drops last night and pulled more than 18g. It was also a very long play session.

The point is I am never standing still or grinding mobs. I’m just out and about playing the game with purpose. Even better, this system is completely adaptable to my schedule. I have two 80s so one is always off CD for the nodes, and with SS and FG it’s very easy to only do it for 15-20 minutes.

The game flat out rewards you for getting off your digital butt and running around.

So through the lvl 80 zones, you node farm, stop for DEs, and sell everything except for charged lodestones? Thats it? this nets you 13 gold? Do you not save any of the T6 mats such as armored scales or anything like that? Sell it all? Salvage Rares?

How long have you been doing this? A month? Few months? And is this with MF gear? Whats your percentage, without southsun buff?

I might try this.

I agree with bloodstealer. That is exactly what I am trying to tell vayne. He is telling us how arenanet thinks, how they designed the game and what a hardcore and casual is. He is pulling all of this out of his a$$, like he does in many threads, and generalizes.

When I played the game hardcore, I spent more money in the cash shop than I do now. How does that fit into your logic, Vayne? I spend money in the cash shop to reward arenanet for that particular month, if I feel that they earned money from me for that month. It has nothing to do with necessity, buying my way to gold, or anything like that. If they provided us with good content, updates, customer service, forum feedback, whatever..they get some money from me. If they are quiet for the month, or I disagree with a lot of what they did this month, they get nothing. Thats how I spend.
A casual might not care enough to spend money, which goes against your logic.
A hard core player might need more bag space, bank space, boosters, or keys, which goes against your logic.

Take off your rose colored glasses and see past your own assumptions and generalizations. Your preach is not gospel my friend. There are many people who play the game for various reasons and many people spend money in the cash shop for various reasons, and varying styles of play. To say that casuals spend the most money in the cash shop without an ounce of fact just makes you look silly.

@vayne:

Who was name calling. Not I. I said that your overassumptions, because that is what they are, are outrageous. What name did I call you?

You say that if someone plays casual and if they want stuff off the gem store, they will pay. Well, keep filtering down that crop of people! I could simply sit back and say, if someone plays casual they probably have the casual mind set of “I dont care for all of these vanity items”, and wont spend a cent. And whose to say the hardcore guys, the ones that play hours per day, farm per day, do not spend money in the gem store? Again, an enormous assumption. Starting out, i played 5+ hours per day in this game…not bad. I still spent a pretty penny in the gem store. Bank space, char slots, boosts, keys, etc.

Simply put: You are over generalizing and your assumptions show it.
-You are linking time spent in game with attitude toward the game(little time = casual, lots of time = hardcore). I play 2 hours per night now, but I take GW2 very seriously since I WANT it to be my mainstay game. Do I consider myself casual? No. Just look at me on the forums. Im on here every day. Definately not casual. A casual doesnt know about the forums. I play as much as a casual, but am not casual.

-You are linking attitude toward the game(casual/hardcore) with desire or need to spend gems. A casual might not want to spend the time to farm so he might buy gems to conver to gold to purchase mats. AND a casual might just look at all of this materials gathering, gem store and say "I dont care…Im casual, I play a limited time). You can’t focus on one viewpoint without acknowledging the other, and expect us to take you seriously. A hardcore player with loads of hours(again this is all assuming your link between time spent and attitude is true) may just want to farm his mats and not spend a cent. Or that hardcore player may need more bag space for all the junk he has, more magic find boosts, more character slots if hes an alt-aholic yet a hardcore player. In these cases, he spends gems.

And this is a kittenumption, I acknowledge it: But I am willing to bet that the so called hardcore players aren’t converting gold to gems to purchase things on the TP. The conversion rate is out of this world. Im at work, but if someone could log in and check how many gems 1 gold will get you, it would be appreciated. Even with a small fortune, I highly doubt many are converting gold to gems for the sake of gem store purchases. Its a rip off.

Dont generalize.

MMO Ranking

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: cesmode.4257

cesmode.4257

Hi. First off, a plea to the mods to not close this thread. It could foster good discussion amongst games, the MMO genre (and guild wars would be amongst them). I also think that by the community ranking MMOs in specific categories, Arenanet might see how we rank GW2 amongst the rest of the industry and we could provide them with a FREE SWOT analysis(Check your marketing teams for that definition ). We would be showing them where we think the game is strongest, and possibly weakest if they do not make the list in certain categories. Also, top 3 does not mean the 3rd game listed is the worst. Top 3 is top 3…there are many other MMOs out there that wouldnt make your top 3. So, being #3 is still good! However, I like to break MMOs down into several key categories. Please rank your top 3 MMOs in each of these categories, in order.

Definitions(according to me ):

Graphics – Self explainatory. How does the game look? Do you see static blocky objects in the distance, or are they moving, swaying. Does the grass sway near you, and does it move when you move through it? Is the sky animated, or is it a static image? Is the environment detailed when looking at it closely, or does it become blurred? Is the game hand drawn or cut-pasted?

Audio – Environmental sounds, spell/ability sounds, combat sounds(the sound your sword or spell makes when hitting the mob), mob sounds.

Combat – Is the combat interactive, or mind numbing? Is every fight repetitive, or do you react to what is going on? Are the boss fights engaging and unique, or add fests and one-shot wonders? Is the talent system unique, and provide variety? Or are you forced into specific specs to be competitive? Is the combat engaging?

Gameplay – Does the game play smoothly?(not performance-related). Do animations look smooth? Are you able to go from one animation to the next smoothly and without feeling clunky? Does the game have more bugs than usual?

Leveling experience – Was it fun? Were there some challenges along the way? Did it take a reasonable amount of time to reach level cap(not too long, not too short)? Were there different things to do other than “quests”?

End Game experience – Are there enough features/systems to engage in? Is it fun or grindy and boring? Do you feel like you NEED to log in or do you feel like you WANT to log in every day? Longevity? Unique systems?

Social interaction – While leveling, or playing endgame, do you interact with other players via combat or via chat? Are there vanity systems in place(dances, emotes, “for fun” events?)

Story – Is there even a story in the game? Is it an engaging story or boring? Is it a unique story or run-of-the-mill? Do your actions have any impact?

Quality of Life – Are there systems/menus in place to make your playing experience more enjoyable? Are there enough customizations across all facets of the game to make your experience more enjoyable and stress free?

Graphics- Guild Wars 2, Tera, Neverwinter
Audio- Neverwinter, Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft
Combat- Tera, Neverwinter, Guild Wars 2
Gameplay-Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, Neverwinter
Leveling experience-Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, Neverwinter
End Game experience-Rift, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars 2
Social interaction-Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft, Rift

The latest case of “farming nerfs” was actually a bug fix. I’m aware of this because I was asked to help identify the issue. The area in question contained a spawn that was defined to have more creatures than spots for those creatures to spawn. So for example, 25 skelks spawning on 10 points. This is not intended. Not only does it just look absurd, it’s also leads to some extremely bizarre play conditions. This is one of those bugs that’s so buggy, the fact that our toolset even allowed this to happen is a bug. Another bug caused this bug. Bugception.

If we didn’t want players to be able to farm, we wouldn’t have put in the huge (and free) magic and gold find buffs for Southsun Cove. We wouldn’t drop loot from the giant mobs of creatures that appear in upscaled events. We certainly wouldn’t have put in chests that appear after events which cycle every 8 to 10 minutes. How quickly all of that content goes completely forgotten in the angered responses to a simple change to an area that was clearly bugged. :/

On farming in general, there’s a sweet spot that combines good loot with fun, engaging content. I think Southsun had that going for it, especially before certain aspects of the content were isolated as optimal. As someone who’s actively working on upcoming Living World releases, I’m aiming to find that sweet spot and hit it in a big way.

I understand partially what your saying Anthony. I saw some of the crazy grouping in SOME areas. Let me ask the question though.. After the South Sun events are done players I guess go back to a battered and bruised ORR. (Yes you nerfed it that hard). The timing is ridiculous between events, and the vets/champs are terrible to deal with.

Making gold in this game is terrible. I’m not sitting on the trade house flipping. It’s not how I play, Kudos to those who can.

I agree. Im sure the MF buff will go once June 11 arrives, so Southsun will be on equal footing with Orr..maybe…Is that good or bad? I dont know.

And I dont flip in the AH either. For me its double edged, I think its interesting to be able to play a market, but this is an MMO and Id rather play the game. Plus, I guess I am too afraid to risk my insanely hard earned gold to flip the market because Im going to guess you need a lot of gold to make a lot…Cant just order 20 items of one commodity and expect to turn a 50 silver proft overnight.

I do not agree with your assumption that casuals don’t pay for gems. In my experience, casuals pay far more than so called hardcore people and I will continue to do so.

In your experience of who? You? Well thats one customer ANet are making happy then I guess. Unless you somehow have have access to the bank accounts of everyone in the game that plays less than one hour a day of course.

I used to be fairly “hardcore” and occasionally spend cash…now I am “casual” because the game is so bad and I refuse to spend anything.

Great, thanks for the meaningless observation.

It’s quite logical that casuals will spend more in the gem shop. Many hard-core players have no very few commitments and can sink 30, 40 hours a week into a game. People with real life commitments that can play a couple of hours a day max are people that will feel they’re falling behind. Since many have a job, they could conceivably have extra money to spend on a hobby…and people do spend money on entertainment. That’s a proven fact.

So if this is your entertainment (and this game is far better for casual than hard core players anyway), you’re more likely to buy gems to get some gold, or buy stuff that makes the game fun for you.

Hard core players can farm gold to buy gems for certain things. That’s harder for casual players.

Vayne, your general assumptions are outrageous. “Casuals will spend more, thats a fact”. How do you know? Casuals might view this game as a pass-time hobby, something to do for an hour each night, and then log off, not taking the game too seriously. Thus, why would they spend money on it? If I am a casual, and I only play for a short period each night or every other night, why would I want to invest a lot of money in something that I spend little time on, and possibly care little about? Youre entire arguement is insane and infact contradicts logic.

Not to mention, the next line of your paragraph, “People with real life commitments that can play a couple of hours a day max are people that will feel they’re falling behind”…the last few words there “…feel they’re falling behind”. Isnt this game supposed to not make you feel that way? Arent I able to put this game down for 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months and not feel “behind” as if it were a sub model item/gear progression game? Well, I did put the game down for two months. I was behind in the living story, which I had to catch up. I wanted to get the achievements. Not to mention, i still feel behind in terms of ascended gear. I do not have my ascended piece. Yes, I feel “behind”. This is what the game aimed not to do. Yet you yourself in your paragraph there said that people will feel they are “behind” everyone else since they play casually. Im confused. Is this game supposed to leave me with that feeling everytime i take some time off?

What happened to semi-frequent AMA?

Like I said, I know they didnt promise anything, but during the November AMA Chris Whiteside said he’d like to do more of the AMAs.

State of the game seems pretty PVP oriented..wvw and spvp only if I recall, although I could be wrong.

Dropping by a thread every once in a while is very much appreciated but is a far cry from an ask me anything session. Truth.

And they held an AMA during the ascended gear introduction/crisis when we all went into nerd rage on them. They held an AMA to answer questions generally, but mores o to give us clear definition on what they intend with ascended gear. So they are not afraid to have another AMA.

I think another would be quite nice.

Hi,
Something just hit my mind…ouch, it hurt. I remember during the AMA in November that Chris Whiteside said he’d like to have more AMAs in the future, and pretty regularly too. What happened to those? I know he did not promise anything at all, but we all would agree (and I think Anet would too) that those AMAs were really good, and fun.

I enjoy asking questions and having arenanet devs respond directly to my question. It made me feel like my concerns were important. Even if someone had a similar question and that question was answered instead of mine, it was time well spent to watch.

It would be nice to get bi-monthly AMAs going or something. Or maybe once a quarter.

Thank you for the information, but why wasn’t this in the patch notes? If the notes had read:

""World: Southsun – Reduced density of reef skelk around Pearl Islet. Due to a bug 25 skelk were spawning in area only intended to spawn 10 skelk. This bug has been fixed"

Instead of:

“World: Southsun – Reduced density of reef skelk around Pearl Islet”

There would have been a MUCH smaller negative reaction. I know patch notes are written on the fly but if they can include a REASONING for the change in addition to a terse note on the exact nature of the change, it would cause a lot less confusion and anger in the community.

I am going to guess that the people who write the patch notes are similar to the marketing folks. Theres always mishaps in what information is officially distributed to players. This has happened many times. Unfortunate, but w/e. At least one dev was kind enough to take time and explain to us here. I applaud him for that.

Without reading this enormous thread I will say the following:
-I do not want an inspect feature to peak at people’s gear. This promotes the gear grind mentality of “I better have l33t stuff orelse I’ll be booted from this fractal group!” This game has teetered on that type of gameplay for a while now. This would surely push it over the edge.
-I would be OK, possibly, with a talent spec inspect. Thats it.

This may be a laughable suggestion and Im only half serious:

Farmville( or something similar) in GW2. Let us grow our own materials.

Spend 50 gems on a “watering bucket” water your “farm”. The bucket has X uses. Come back tomorrow and loot! Everyone wins. Arenanet gets their gems, we get our loot. We didnt spend a ton of money, we get our loot.

This may be borderline P2Win maybe? I dont know.

That would cause farming those plants w/o cash shop to become a problem. Because if you can get them for a specific price, and even in bulk, you just made actually gathering them useless and pushed into forced gem purchase.

Im only entertaining my own thought and your response to see where it can take us.

Obviously the cost of the bucket, the amount of uses it has, and the amount or chance of materials is subject to change. For argument sake, I’ll call the lootable areas “boxes”. Id place these boxes in the same loot tables as regular mobs, or whatever the current logic is for mobs in the world.

The farm is only plantable and lootable once per day. It’ll just give us another small stream of materials, if we wanted it, to help offset the nerfs. And we would be lining arenanet’s pocket with some gems along the way. I say keep it a VERY small amount, maybe even maximum price would be 125, the cost of black lion keys if I recall.

—Snipped for brevity.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to this thread. This topic has a lot of people up in arms, myself included, and a lot of ppl worried. People might see these nerfs as a way to slow the “free” acquisition of items and materials vs a cash grab spending gems, converting to gold and purchasing off of TP.

I completely and 100% agree about bugs being fixed. Thats great. People semi-exploited Lyssa to keep the event going(if you want to call it an exploit). Sure nerf it. The situation you detailed sounds like a reasonable justification to fix it.

Concerning creating engaging experiences, adding a lot of vets, champs, and increasing the kickoff timers to events like Shelt/Pent are nerfs to which were not needed in the eyes of the players. Were there bugs that needed to be fixed there? Those were prime locations to farm. I think even Plinx received a nerf not too long ago. My point is, if you bring these locations down to normal level, thus removing the “sweet spot” as you would call it, farming becomes a chore. To those of us who do not mind farming when we are being adequately rewarded, it is not a chore. It is how we choose to spend our time. (Note, I do not lump “farming” for a precursor drop since this is all but unattainable for many. Simply talking about items that anyone can acquire with reasonable ease).

Are you able to touch on the rumor that the instigator events were nerfed silently? First week of this event, I was getting many rares off of those fights. for the last week or so, maybe one or two rares per hour. Lots of useless blues and greens taking up inventory.

I guess the community could use some re-assurance from Arenanet that the pocket of players that enjoy farming for mats, for whatever purpose, is not being left out in the cold for whatever reason.

Farmers got owned.

I have my legendary (Sunrise), I’ve not farmed any spots with the exception of maybe Potent Venom Sacs in Mount Maelstrom for about 10 hours and some Plinx (never did the camps in Orr as with a Mesmer it was impossible for me to tag anything). Invalid argument spotted. I’ve not ran CoF p1 more than once a day. I’ve never exploited Arah Path 3 (?) Boss 1. I’ve never looted any precursor.

Casuals should stop waste time complaining and start playing instead.

So…how did you get the mats you needed?

If you didnt farm for any of them, and didnt run CoF more than once per day and you never looted a precursor, how did you get one? Im guessing you purchased it all through the AH…but how did you make that obscene amount of money? Do you have an endless spring of disposable funds to buy gems, convert to gold and then buy? Or, did you acquire all of this relatively early in the game before the precursor market and the mats shot up through the roof?

Because Im calling BS on this one.

That’s what I’m seeing there’s a ton of people who’ve been here since headstart long before the loot nerfs hit in November (and yes there are dev posts about them “adjusting drop rates” around that time period) who’ve been sitting around on money for a long time now.

Some of which got a precursor when they were handing them out at the first karka event, where these same people abused the login design of the game and stayed in their party at the end of the event to login to as many characters as possible and run up to the chest from the big karka boss to get multiple precursors in one sitting.

Then they proceed to come onto these forums and place farmers in the same likeness as gold sellers. It’s sickening.

Ive been here since beta..2 or something. Head start and all. I simply missed the karka event that weekend because I had a lot going on THAT weekend. And out of all of the weekends throughout the year, that had to be the weekend where bugs were soaring and as a result, precursors were given out like candy on haloween..and yes, I had to miss that.
My luck..along with the rest of my bad luck in getting a precursor to drop from a mob or chest.

Got over 2500 hours of playtime, only got a single precursor (colossus from throwing lots of exotics into the toilet)

How many?
15charr

I lost about 780g in the process, so quite a bunch. It was back when I could have bought one for about 300g, but you never know your luck before you start :p

Discouraging.

The lover is 600+ right now.

Ive thrown in about 200-250 rare shortbows and about 12 exotics. Small stuff compared to you Id imagine…probably only lost about 40 or 50 gold in the entire process since I feel I made a lot back when single exotics being rewarded to me.

But…:( I hope I dont end up being one of those people that waste 1000 rares in that thing…would almost discourage me from logging in anymore, even if I got the precursor. And I dont want to GIVE someone 600 gold for one either.

you don’t want to see my reaction last couple days. 1000+gs rares and big suprise nothing..
the about me and the precursor is yes i know it’s very very low chance and gamble in mf is not the best way. however i rather throw all gold away and have a chance to get it , than just give away all my hard earn gold to some lucky person who may not even play the game hardcore or care.

I feel this way 100%. I am trying to keep track on how much money I throw into the forge. When I approach the amount I would have spent in the TP for a precursor, I will stop trying to get one. I’ll go after other skins in the mean time and hope my luck changes(If I still play the game at all, because all of the content I want to play is shrinking).

Our reactions to farming nerfs

Just making a general topic, maybe for the moderators to take all of the threads about farming nerfs and to put it into one topic that is generalized. Please keep it civil amongst eachother, please do not troll.

What are your thoughts about farming nerfs, pro or against?

Mine feelings/opinions:
And it would be nice if someone from Arenanet would chime in. This IS getting out of hand. I came back to Guild Wars 2 after a two month break to farm for my legendary, but areas continued to be nerfed. I don’t want to participate in guild missions. I do as many meta events as possible. Ive done enough instigator bosses in southsun to last a life time, and Im sure the 4-camp hold + karka queen will wear me down over time. I’ve done enough COF P1 (which seems the only way to acquire legetimate cash…70 silver before vendoring).

To Arenanet: I WANT to farm. Why can’t I do this? This is how I want to play the game. Isn’t that what you have been preaching? “Play how you want to play”? This is it. I want to farm. I want to do some metas and ocassionally dungeons/fractals, but I want to farm. You are shrinking the ground beneath my feet. Pretty soon, I’ll have no where to stand. I don’t even play 10 hours a day, 2-3 hours per night. Im not hardcore, but when I log in I want to kill things, get rewarded for it, while listening to music or watching a Star Trek DS9 episode(I dont care what you say, DS9 was the best!)

Why? Why are you doing this to your playerbase? We are not the casual people that come and go because of real life schedules. We are the people playing your game every single day or night for a few hours. We stick with the game(provided the game doesn’t fundamentally change, as it seems to be). We are the ones that will spend in your cash shop. I used to buy gems for one reason only: to reward Arenanet for a job well done. Well, then ascended gear and guild missions(ahem raids) came, and now RNG and farming nerfs. All things to make me STOP buying gems.

All I want to do now is farm. It is how I want to play your game. Can I play this way?

Now, this COULD be an abberation because I don’t do it that often, but for my money, I’ve personally made more money farming the armored scales.

Some people say they can make 9g/h with skelk on another post.

I didn’t know you can make that much on armor scales. So how many scale you get an hour? like 30?

I don’t know. I got 10 in about 15 minutes…but it might just be an aberration.

I got 50 in under 10 minutes!!! You people crack me up. There’s no way to know what he got. He could say anything he wanted in order to back up his posts, why bother even asking him.

Are you accusing me of lying? Because if you are, I’m done with you. I have no reason to lie. If you think it’s impossible to get 10 armored scale in 15 minutes using the buff by killing sharks I ASSURE you it’s not. I’m not even farming that hard. I’m sure you can get MORE.

Yeah, about that one buddy. I sat in waters all around southsun, not one single location and farmed. 4 armored scales, in 1.5 hrs. I have 297% Mf as well (with the buff). Again, you must be the luckiest gw2 player on earth if we are to believe your precursor story and now your armored scale story..10 in 15 minutes? Sure.

Ruh roh. Looks like the farmers are up in arms. Anyone actually play and see how much slower it is to make money? Maybe try killing some of the other stuff on the island which drops blood and fangs?

Honestly I don’t get you guys. In the time you’ve been here complaining, I’ve gotten 4 armored scales. And it hasn’t been that long.

Just stop. Once enough players learn of a decent spot and catches arenanets eye, its nerfed. Getting tired of this.

Easy for you in hindsight, you have your legendary. The rest of us are being screwed every location we go to.

Im just really tired of all of the RNG in the game. Nothing is garunteed, other than a rare for the first time you down a world boss for the day.

RNG crates
RNG precursors
RNG mats
RNG clovers

Come on..getting tired of this.

With this said, this looks like a fun update. Just sick of the RNG stuff and the temporary content.

So instead of adding challenging content we get “activities” and fireworks, wtf? This is so lame.

Never played Dragon Ball, eh?

While I am welcoming the festivities starting this month, Nuke Cola has a point.

We get very short lived temporary content and stories that disappear..dungeons that disappear. All he wants is some meaningful difficult content that will not dissappear. A southsun dungeon, a permanent dungeon maybe. Or some new zone with a new dungeon, or some other type of content. What he wants, and all of this is my speculation because I can understand his frustrating, is REAL stuff that impacts the game and isnt temporary fluff.

I get it(at least I think I do). And I agree. But this stuff will be fun too.

as of someone me who has probably spent well over 1000 us dollars on GW2 in gems, I must say that the RNG concept with some .0001% chance at getting a cosmetic item is starting to take its toll on me. I will enjoy the art and what have you for the team that made it and continue playing awhile longer, but honestly, this Las Vegas style game is starting to become frustrating in this regard. How come achievements cant bring us special tickets to buy what we want, anything we want beyond that, let us gamble our life savings away. Furthermore, why more back item skins and incomplete lists of weapon skins, why not offer up some new armor skins as well, and not just town wear fluff. Also, since its a festival, put an increased chance at a precursor, they are very time consuming to turn to legendaries anyways and it would give more incentives to continue supporting GW2 to many.

take my words for what they are, an opinion. its not a cry or whine post in context, more of a realization hit in hopes that eventually loyal consumers might actually be realistically rewarded for our continual support of GW2 Casinos.

QFT.

I agree with this 100%, every word(aside from the 1000$ part…I havent spent that much)

Las Vegas style..GW2 Casinos….I your way of describing the game. A very good game, but in a las vegas style format.

Moa horse race lol. Do I get to be one?

Anyway… mini dragon pet?

The Moa race is a betting game taking inspiration from the 9-rings style betting mini-games from the original festivals in Gw1, but with a little more action involved for each round of bets. The bonus: this activity will remain in the game permanently in Lion’s Arch after the Dragon Bash festival ends.

You don’t get to be a Moa for this specific activity, though you never know what might pop up in future festivals! As one of the people who built roller beetle racing I’d love to see its spiritual successor in Gw2 someday, we might need to wait for beetles to pop up in game though

Hey!
Can you clarify: “Betting game?” Meaning, people can place bets on other people racing? I wasnt around for GW1 so I do not understand.

Second, I think I suggested this at least once, many months ago(maybe even in 2012) comparing it to the Chocobo races in Final Fantasy 7 Nice to see it come to fruition! For my fantastic suggestion, any chance to up my precursor chances a smidge? Eh Eh? :p.

Im actually a fan. This looks like great summer fun. Not keen on more RNG stuff. And it would be nice to see more solo dungeons like Canach(albeit, longer dungeon please!) But overall, good stuff.

Just hate that a lot of the stuff that comes out month to month is temporary. The experience is temporary. The items are only temporarily available and if you miss them, you miss them. Need more permanancy. I like seeing the world actually evolving overtime and staying that way, rather than seeing all of this neat stuff disappear.

Anyways, kudos anet.

In 3000 (just hit minutes ago) hours I have yet to obtain one. I have thrown very rare sword, great sword, rifle, staff, shield, hammer, long bow, and short bow I have obtained after initial equipment of my toons into the forge to no avail. I have also thrown countless dungeon exotics in as well.

I have had all my gifts ready to go for a while, yet a precursor eludes me. I have had plenty of means to purchase one for a long time but, I feel that it is not acceptable that I am required to purchase one off the tp. Heck with all the stuff I have thrown in the forge I could have easily paid for dusk or the lover long ago, although tbh I don’t care which one as I only want it for the login medal.

I do not want it easy to obtain one. I simply do not want to have to buy one off the tp. I don’t care if it takes another 3k hours as long as it is actually obtainable via game play.

To me there is something fundamentally wrong with requiring (situational) us to buy things off the tp………I’ll end my post with that sentiment.

I agree. I, as well as many others, feel buying such an important piece for a legendary is..not legendary..not epic. You can buy the rest of the materials off the TP, or go to X location and farm Y materials..you know youll be getting drops. With precursors, thers no garuntee.

I am farming the generic gifts first, Gift of Fortune and Gift of Mastery. Once I have those out of the way, I’ll either drop everything I have into the forge like a fiend, or save save save and buy…even though I seriously despise giving one individual person so much gold.

In the event that I see I’ll never get my precursor via mystic toilet or buying from TP….I’ll just save these two gifts for when, if ever, I get a lucky drop. Lucky as in any precursor worth more than 300 gold…thats half the price of the one I am after. Sell it, and farm the rest..gogogo! Otherwise, the gifts will sit and collect dust. At that point I’ll work on the mystic forge skins or other skins or whatever.

I know for a fact you can get a prec from dumping lvl 72 exotics into the MF. I managed, and I’ll be the first to admit it was freaking lucky, to get the Chaos Gun after dumping in 24 Exo pistols (lvl72). Then, randomly dumping in rares the other day I got the Torch precursor.
Speaking from this, which is biased from a lucky perspective, I’d say buying lvl 72exo’s is the way to go.

EDIT: I’m not hardcore… only have 2 lv 80’s and a lvl 13. Only one fully geared with Nightmare exotic gear.

Reconfirm: You put level 72 exotics into the forge and it kitten out a precursor? I shall try.
What are lvl 72 exotics going for on the ah?

Good job really……

A great farming spot before the living story arrived here, then the cling on zergs arrived and now its nerfed.

I dont normally come onto the forums to have a moan but you guys have really helped the community by having yet another good farming spot nerfed.

so yeah, good job

It does feel nerfed…for the last few days at least. For the first week of this living story, rares were dropping and being pulled from chest like no tomorrow. Now, I might get a rare from a chest every 30 or 45 mins..pretty much once a DR cycle. And with the MF buff, I have 347% Magic find…I dont get many rares from drops in southsun doing the instigator events.

So yeah, I think Anet needs to double check this.

I hear you brother. Im around 1000 hours played. I think i threw 200-300 rares into the forge along with a dozen exotics. Nothing.

Im saving, just like you. I COULD sell everything I have and just make pure gold..buy my precursor, and then just farm the rest of the mats. But I have a hard time justifying giving one individual person 600 of my HARD earned gold. Id rather drop 600 gold in the forge.

I agree with Tolmos. Id almost bet my account that we will not be seeing speed increasing mounts in this game. Possibly just for aesthetics..but not speed increasing. Waypoints are kitten sink, which has ripple effects into Anets profits. Plus it takes a bit away from the world…it feels huge while on foot. Put mounts in, and it shrinks.

There’s the fallacy.

They are only popular with a very small niche community. Even WoW with it’s 8 million subscribers has less than 300k people raiding.

Even though this is what blizzard claims, I call BS. What else is there to do? LFR and regular raids..

Well looks like Arenanet has continued to nerf farming events.

Yesterday I formed a farming exploration party and found out that Colonnade waypoint was the best spot. After a few hours, we get a new patch only to find out that it’s nerfed. No worries, we also found another spot to farm in the meantime, though I wonder how long until that gets nerfed too (hint, it hasn’t been changed since November)

Not to mention that shelt/pen has been nerfed completely by increasing the respawn timers of events.

With these changes, the Orr maps are pretty much dead of players.
And when Southsun passes by, the only way to get rich is to farm Cof1, farm meta events all day, or end up having to convert gems to gold.

Real disappointed in you Arenanet, you really have turned a once great game 360 degrees.

The eye is ever watchful. You musn’t wear the ring! They’ll find you!

Funny though, the events are nerfed after we figure out that they have a decent drop rate.

And Orr is only dead because of southsun this month. In a few days, that might change.

Concerning farming: If I realize that less people farm in Orr/southsun..and all people do is COF, yah Ill drastically slow my playing…maybe once or twice a week. Im not COF farming till I die.

Thats not fun.

The southsun living story bit is pretty weak. I dont know who Canach is, why he is the way he is, what is the deal with the contracts, why I should care, is anyone else involved, why does he care what happens to the settlers, why are the settlers arguing with negotiators, why are these instigators doing what they are doing, how is canach stirring up the monsters on the island to be aggressive.

What?

A few days ago the last bit of southsun story is revealed and we are ported into an instance to kill…who? Why? Im sorry, I dont feel comfortable killing someone in the game when I hvae no idea why. Just so confused.

The instance was neat, I got a good amount of rares and shells from farming the island this month, and its nice to see southsun have some life(I hope it remains a decent place to farm ALONG WITH ORR)…but other than this, I feel like this was so disjointed and unfinished.
