I know this development from warhammer, where circlefarming was very popular too and it’s a huge turnoff for me.
Edited for brevity. This x 100. Once I saw this in warhammer, I signed off and never signed back on again. Its pointless. Faction/Server A goes to Tower B to capture. Faction/Server B goes to Tower A to capture.
Oops, ok, REVERSE!
Faction/Server A goes to Tower A to capture.
Faction/Server B goes to Tower B to capture.
Rinse repeat. Mindless. Pointless.
So I have played my thief for a couple hundred hours (not nearly as much as some of you I know) and one of the bigger issues I have with the profession is the fact that sometimes infiltrator’s arrow simply doesn’t work.
I know this doesn’t seem like a huge deal but after dying due to thinking I could arrow somewhere while running away and then I see myself just appear in a cloud of smoke in the exact same spot and die from mobs. What’s even worse is that half the time I try to arrow somewhere and it fails my engineer friend just rocket jumps to the exact spot I’m trying to get to.
So is this intended?
Tl;dr- Infiltrator’s arrow won’t let you port to certain places and it’s pretty lame.
I agree about the inability to port to places, such as a clif that is just above your head… I see the reason for this being that it makes puzzle jumping easier, and PVP ramifications. However, shadowstepping/porting like that has always been the cornerstone of any thief/rogue archetype. It is why we choose the class. It is part of our niché. Our little, “gimmick”. Im sure other classes have one or two things that are really unique to their class that make them stand out as a “Yeah, only a Guardian can do that…cool”.
The pirate hats?
Jack sparrow?
Good morning,
I did not see a Suggestion forum(although it is early in the morning), but I wanted to throw this out there as a suggestion.
Often enough, in the midst of combat, I quickly Steal and press Steal again because whatever buff/field/damaging attack that I gain, I want to use quickly because I do not have time to hover over and read the tooltip(or even glance at what Icon it is sometimes). What I suggest is a ‘floating text’ of sorts, to alert us to what we stole, so that when we are looking at our character and the combat around us(which Arenanet really wants us to do), we see “Oh OK, its a poison field.”, or “Oh OK its feathers for blinding”, rather than having us take our eyes off of the action to lookin the bottom left hand corner to see what the icon is, and for some who dont know the icons yet, maybe inexperienced players, it would definately help. Or even have this be an option to toggle on/off.
Thoughts?
if you are going to be a Blossomthief via D/D…conditions all the way..condition condition, condition. You also want to grab Caltrops, and uncatchable trait. People sorely underestimate the amount of pain you dish out even in packs of mobs/aoe.
Run in, drop caltrops(several stacks of bleed, cant remember how much), DB x 3(9 stacks right there), dodge out(dropping more caltrops), steal(with mug trait), and maybe you get lucky with a poison field, at that time, DB again.
Everything falls dead at your feet. Without question. I take on packs of mobs same level or 1 higher, in numbers of 4 or 5 without breaking a sweat.
To top it off, if you use Spider Venom and DB x 3, thats even more dottage.
Thief is actually very fun in my oppinion, but the problem is, i cant have any epic weapons to show off
i mean some of the daggers look really cool, but i walk around town and see this huge charr guy with an AMAZING greatsword on his back, and then i look aat my poor little toothpicks… im ashamed
even shortbow is kind of small, and the biggest weapon is sword, which i dont like…
i pity asura thieves :< their weapons are probably microscopic o.oanyone agree with me?
I know what you mean about the greatsword…they look like Ragnarok sword from FF7. Cool stuff. But, you wont have the great sword if you are, lets say, an elementalist.
I wouldnt be so quick to regret your class choice because of that. Chances are, after 50 levels of running around with that big ole sword, you’ll be tired of looking at it.
Yeah, I have never ever seen this in an MMO, and Ive played plenty of different ones. Ive never seen people post things for 1unit of currency above what the value is at the vendor, especially when there are AH fees. People, youre only wasting your time and money.
The downside to all of this is that when we go to post a green or yellow item on the TP, and find out that there are already 25 other sellers selling for 1 copper above vendor value, we say “Fine, I’ll just vendor…”, and this does not help the economy at all. Its hurting the economy and not giving it a chance to grow.
Yeah you should have it. I think its the Chocolate frosting that is a discovery, if I remember correctly….either that or the cherry filling, man I cant remember haha.
Good morning,
I cant be specific as to the exact spot , because it only happens in one spot where all the minotaurs always seem to meet..but theres a bit of rubber banding that happens there.
Yes, you are correct. It does have the tendancy to leave you facing the wrong way, and on top of that you are often out of range to continue auto attacking.
Id go one small step further and say the camera seems to be in an akward position for this ability, but if the range and player facing is corrected, Im sure I’ll get used to the akward camera angle.
Specs:
Intel Q6600 2.4ghz OC’d to 3.0 ghz
Nvidia GTX 460 (Using the beta drivers that Arenanet suggested via the GW2 launcher.)
8MB DDR2 ram
All settings on maximum. During the last BWE, on max settings with the above setup, I had absolutely no issues.
Before changing to the recommended beta drivers, and before Arenanet started doing all of the small patching, my performance was pretty good. I would average around 20-25 FPS, even in high populated areas with a lot of spell effects going off. No performance drop, even though the frame rate is pretty low. WvW was OK, a small performance drop when tagging along in the zergs.
Now, in high populated area with a lot of spell effects, my fps drops to around 13-18 FPS, and I am starting to feel a performance drop.
When using this ability, sometimes the character lands too far away from the mob, and out of melee range. What the thief would like to do seemlessly, and should be able to without question, is as follows:
1. Enter melee range, begin attacking
2. Leaping Death Blossom
3. Continue auto attacking without moving the character at all.
What happens often is as follows:
1. Enter melee range, begin attacking
2. Leaping Death Blossom
3. Land too far away from the mob. The thief just sits there. You must walk forward a few feet to begin auto attacking.
This makes the skill and thus the spec of LDB to feel disjointed at times, not fluid.
I am not sure this is a suggestion, as it is more of a bug in the ability, particularly where the thief lands after LDB is executed. Please adjust this.
Good idea, I’ll give it a look next time im in Queensdale.
@nagrim, that was a pretty poor response.
@OP, that would be a good feature. Probably not on their radar right now, but I can definately see them adding this.
I agree with the OP. I understand that people are having account issues and that is the top priority of Arenanet, to get these people in the game! However, I think the WvW queues need to be a close second. With no “traditional” end game in place(however, Orr sounds awsome!), and with the insane amounts of people queueing for WvW, this whole system needs to be addressed.
I’ve seen posts on gw2guru, how ever accurate, of people queueing before guildees and zoning in after them or not at all. 3 hour queues are just unacceptable, even 1 hour queues are unacceptable. For a system where it seems it one of the main cornerstones of the game, it is vastly flawed.
Agreed with what has been said, queueing for all WvW maps at once should be allowed. I am not sure why it isnt. People just want to play!
Yes that is the one. I skipped it
When I am circle straffing around a target, unload sometimes stops midway, and I lose all of the initiative that I had spent. I can guess that this is because my target was not DIRECTLY in front of me, but who knows. My character looks like he is facing the target. This is annoying as it is pivotal to keep moving in the game, and unload is not a cheap ability.
When running around queensdale during the launch a week ago, I heard jet-like sounds in all of the surrounding areas near the swamp. I am pretty sure these sounds are the sounds the portals in the swamp make, but I am not certain(if so, what portal sounds like a 747?) .
I am pretty sure this would have been brought up since it was insanely annoying to hear this sound two areas away, however, incase it wasn’t, I am telling you now
Thanks!
I forgot to post this, but a few days ago this DE was bugged. The lady you were supposed to escort just sits there, does not move. I am not sure if this has been fixed.
