All this talk about butter and chocolate is driving me nuts! Stop! Im getting hungry!

Nah, I say keep the butter coming. It is definately a staple ingredient. Throw in more oranges too please.

BTW, my wife just made a chai spice loaf of bread, in real life, and added 1 and 1/4 butter(as per recipe)…made my heart drop because thats so much butter, but it was oh so good.

Which economy? The US? Greece? I see reasonable prices on the TP as I am leveling my crafting, and I have most of the mats myself. I am leveling two toons(and additional lvl 80), so thats 3x the mats, but at the same time thats 3x the crafting professions to level.

Turning off WVW chat...

Hi,
I am wondering if anyone has thought of turning off WvW chat(if its possible…I think it is), and just wandering around, farming nodes, killing stragglers and random players, etc without the constant chatter and bickering in WvW chat. I think it would be somewhat enjoyable once in a while to experience open world pvp in the game, without the structure of it all and without people barking at other players.

Before people come in and say "Youre not contributing to your server if all you do is ignore the calls for help and re-enforcement, and simply "wander"". Remember, its a game, I paid for it like everyone else, and I wait my turn in queue like everyone else. So, please don’t turn this into “Youre doing it wrong and hurting your server” thread. Theres no need for that.

Crafting in Guild Wars 2: Best in the MMO market

I’ll go ahead and say it, I love crafting in Guild Wars 2. Its different enough where it dosnt bore you to tears watching a progress bar, but similar in that you need to refine things. I like how, for instance, an earring will require a hook, setting, and gem. Realistic! I like how cooking actually makes real items, and requires a somewhat realistic recipe to make. I like how the discovery system rewards you with a ton of XP, along with a few crafting levels. Genius..this alone made me smile when I realized that this was the way to go.

In WoW, it was a boring repetitive task that provided no value for you either selling things on the AH, or leveling. Little to no experience. In Guild Wars, you get loads of XP from it. Still, selling things on the TP is not worth it, but I can overlook this right now.

In Rift, it was just too convoluted and complicated to really master. Maybe I didnt give it a fair shot.

In Tera, It became too expensive midway through to purchase some of the items from the master crafters.

SWTOR had it interesting, with the companions doing these things for you. I’ll admit, it was slightly better than your run of the mill crafting, IMO.

I know I probably wander from the main zerg of people that probably dislike crafting in this game, but I love it. Arenanet: Whoever thought this one up, gets an A+ from me. +5 internets.

I think that the story ending was pretty decent TBH, especially the arah story mode you do. I liked it. A little long in Arah, but I liked it.

While I agree theres too many bad zombies that want to hurt you in Orr, one every 5 feet…it adds to the flavor. Its supposed to be difficult, even though I cussed at my computer screens many times when I heard “Death…good” and suddenly get yanked back 10 yards.

I hope the new continents that they open up are a bit better and they learn from what didnt work in Orr. With that said, keep it hard!!!! I remember in Rift, going to ember isle as a semi-fresh max level. I would get pwned..hardcore. Good to be difficult.

Difficult does not equal cluttering the map with mobs. I would rather reduce the amount of normal mobs in half, and add more veterens or champions (not necessarily next to 3 other normal mobs..that pull would just be death for a solo player).

I agree, Orr zones need some work in terms of loot drops, and nodes. I honestly have not ventured back to these three zones once I received map completion for them for the following reasons:
-For me, theres no point to kharma grind as the gear is not good looking at all, and the stats are terrible…seems PVP heavy stats, which right now doesnt perk the interest of a PVE oriented player.
-I get more money and loot to vendor from running dungeons, along with tokens
-Ori nodes are few and far between.

I havent been back there in about 2-3 weeks. Theres no point…unless dynamic events in these zones started to randomly reward a rare or something..then I might go back

@ infiniteretro: I disagree. The gameplay might be different, the types of systems and features might be different, but it is guild wars. The characters, the lore, the references to event that have passed. I didnt play guild wars 1, but what I have gathered from lore in game, and NPCs talking, along with personal story, I understand a little bit what it was about.

If you wanted the game to play exactly like Gw1, why even bother buying its sequal? People said the same thing about Diablo 3, that it was nothing like Diablo 2. isnt that the point of a NEW game? To be NEW and try NEW things? Otherwise it should just be recoding the graphics engine, and keeping all the same content in the game for guild wars 1.

I know Blizzard is working on Titan, but if they weren’t, they would be smart to put their money into WoW 2. For that, would you expect the same looking azeroth, dungeon feels, raid mechanics, etc? I think when I pay 60 bucks for a game, I want it to be its own game.

Hi,
So, Ive been farming dungeons for the past few weeks. Whenever we down the boss, I get excited to open the chest only to find out that there are a few blues and maybe a green in there. Most of which are armor types and weapon types that I cannot use.

I have a few issues here:
1. I thought that the gear that was to drop for you in dungeons were to be specific to your characters armor type and weapon choices. Please, correct me if I am wrong.
2. Why do I only receive blue and some green gear? What about the rares and/or exotics? I am running explorable after all, why am I receiving vendor trash gear. I cant even sell the greens on the TP because people post 50 items of it, for 1 copper more.
3. Do I NEED to run these dungeons with tons of magic find gear in order to get some rares/exotics? If so, I understand magic find to increase the chance of finding non-junk items, not increasing the quality of said items. Also, if dungeons were structured this way, where I need to stack MF, I am kittening my group. More often, I pug a dungeon run, and honestly with some people out there, its in the group’s best interest to have your best gear on, not magic find stacked gear.

MODS, if this needs to be moved to another forum, please do so. I posted here because I have an opinion about the poor drop rate of good items in dungeons, along with a few questions

Hi,
I just logged in to see that I had three new messages from 4 days ago. It was from moderators saying that topics I either started or participated in were moved.

I think one of them had no reason other than it was moved to the trashcan for infraction. Did I receive an infraction? If so, for what?
Another said “This is a php thread”… I know what PHP is but I am not even sure what this means! Why would I have participated in a PHP thread?
And there is another that said something about moving the thread to players helping players.

The system is very vague. I click on “Follow the new thread here” and it simply brings me to that forum, not the thread. I have no idea what threads these were or what I did wrong(if anything).

If a forum mod could kindly send me a private message as to what is the deal with the last 3 private messages to me from forum mods, I’d appreciate it. Also, a more descriptive notification system would be nice, saying what the thread title was, and maybe what the individual posted in the thread.

Run dungeons buddy. Trust me. I had the same problem until I ran a few dungeons.
From looting alone, you receive:
Coin(Id guess at least a few silver it would add up to)
Junk(like white and blue gear to vendor. This probably would add up to 10-12 silver)
Bags(with crafting materials and more coin)

At the end of the dungeon, get rewarded handsomely. For twilight arbot exp, which can be cleared in 30-40 minuntes, its 26 silver. Add that onto everything you just vendored, youre looking at probably 40-50 silver for one run, plus badges and all the loot.

I started running dungeons a week or so ago, I went from 3 gold to almost 20.

Oh, concerning the stats about sales.

At end of Quarter 2, I think, WoW dropped to 9.1 mil subs. Still thats more than any MMO in the market could dream of. But, I heared they just went up over 10mil again after the MoP expansion released.

That just shows that MoP only brought in maybe less than 1mil subs? Id venture that half of those people left the game previously for various reasons, and wanted to simply check mop out. The true test of MoP’s effectiveness will be quarter 1 2013. Let the sales die down, let all the gimmick deals die down. New quarter, look at the subs. Im predicting below 9 mil.

I agree with a lot of what everyone has said.

I do think that Anet should have chosen better wording for a lot of their promises and explanations of the game. Too many times I caught myself saying “Oh, well this isnt what I expected…I thought they had said that it would be THIS way, not THAT way”. Too many times… This is the first time playing an MMO where I felt this way.

I do think that the game was somewhat rushed, or maybe not beta tested properly. They did a lot of stress tests, fine. But content in later zones(past 30), was not tested enough. Too many bugged events, they didnt get a feel for Orr, or the higher level dungeons, etc. I know the reason behind this, that they wanted to keep things secret, but when you have a laundry list of issues, it becomes heavy. IMO, other than account issues, Tera had a smoother launch. Less bugs. I dont think I was aware of any, dont think I experienced any.

With that said, IMO, the game is still leaps and bounds ahead of WoW, rift, and Tera. For now. If by the holiday season(end of november/december) they are still spending their time fixing blocked events, taking down the trading post every other day for maintanance, etc..instead of adding meaningful content and updates to the game…I might be done with MMOs.

Challenge: Try to find the target

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

cesmode.4257

@jetsunhi: I think you’re fibbing just a little. Look at that screenshot. Where the mob should be is a white blur. You cant see tha targeted mob at all.

Pressing T for the called target is glorious for ranged, not so much for melee. If I cannot see my target and I press my Called Target shortcut, I still need to get into melee range to hit the mob! 9/10 times I am guessing where he might be. Its like driving up hill looking into the sun…Im guessing and hoping that a car isnt swirving into my lane and going to hit me. Well, Im GUESSING where the mob is and hoping that I:
1. get into melee range
2. do not have my back facing him because otherwise I will do nothing…

Targeting in the game is a big problem. Ive been saying this since BWE#1. I even posted on the forums about this pointing out issues with targeting. I hoped it would be fixed for launch, since targeting is the groundwork for the cornerstone of the game(combat).

Next gw2 Expansion Class?

Everyone is talking about race, the OP wanted to talk about class.

I think Monk would be neat. From what I hear it was in the first game, correct?

I think that if they introduce different weapons, that opens up the possibility of different classes. I know Tera is a touchy subject around here, but I liked the idea of a Slayer or Berserker… Maybe a mix between slayer/berserker and a mesmer(only without the illusions and all of the confusion/trickery that comes along with it). Im thinking of abilities of Zelda, but wielding a greatsword or an Axe, or duel swords. You melee like any other class, but if you needed to go ranged, swinging your blades project energy as well. I LOVED how in Zelda you would shoot a beam out of your blade, similar to how Mesmer is.. I am just not sure I dig the clones of a mesmer.

Challenge: Try to find the target

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: cesmode.4257

cesmode.4257

I agree with the OP. I think the targeting in this game is probably the worst out of any MMO Ive ever played. Its terrible and annoying.

I think this problem is three fold.
1. Not that I necessarily want to reduce the number of particle effects flying around the target, but there needs to be an outline of your targeted mob that is layed on top of the particles flying around, so no matter how much spell effect is happening, you’ll always see the outline of your target. This may be in place already but needs to be enhanced way more.

2. Whenever you click anywhere on the screen, you lose your target. So while youre trying to move around avoiding bad floor, trying to get into melee position on the target, or moving back into correct position after a using a position moving ability like heartseeker or death blossom, you need to re-target. Losing your target because you clicked somewhere on the screen is terri-bad. Ive seen a lot of threads, and Ive created at least one(maybe two) suggestion threads in the suggestion forums to allow us to enable an option ‘Lock Target’. We would only lose our target if the target dies, goes invisible, or we press Escape. This way we do not need to constantly re-target. This is a MUST.

3. Tab targeting just stinks in this game. I hit my Next Target button, and it does NOTHING half of the time. This needs a re-work. Sure, use your shortcut for targeting when someone lays out a target, but that still leads us to issue #1.

Targeting is abysmal in this game. I think I remember reading Jon Peters saying this is being addressed. I hope they make drastic improvements.

Gw2 did launch with more content than WoW, in my opinion.

Take a look…
Queensdale, 1-15 zone. As you stated, probably somewheres of 10-12 renown hearts, and if you follow the event chains from start to finish, probably 20-30 pieces of events. I would also argue that the Vistas, points of interest, and skill points could also be considered content because you are rewarded for reaching these points or participating in the skill events. Add another several dozen areas that you need to go to if you want that experience. In total, Id venture to guess that a level 1-15 zone is pushing 50 pieces of content to which you can be rewarded for.

In wow, the 1-15 content is stretched from, for example Elwynn forest to West fall.
You are level 3 or 4 within 5 minutes of rolling a character. That leves about 12 levels between the two zones. I dont think there are 50 quests, nor do I think there ever were about 50 questions in those two zones combined.

For arguements sake, lets say there are equal number of content between GW2 and WoW. The way that GW2 does it masks the mundane task of kill x and gather y, yet it is still there. Gw2 does it much better.

@OP, what is it that you want?

I understand you are pvp focused. IMO, the kharma sets in Orr have the most bang for your buck if you want to survive in wvw (all of the toughness and vit). Go Kharma grind for those sets, and then grind out an aesthetic set to transmute. Theres your gear progression.

And I truely hope that you knew the game had no carrot on a stick, gear treadmill at max level. Otherwise, you wasted your money and should go back to WoW. Plain and simple. I am not sure if Anet will give us more levels or better statted gear than what is available, when they release more content and expansions. But until then, and other than that, theres no gear treadmill. Get that max stat set, and then do whatever you want. If that doesn’t appeal, you purchased the wrong game and didnt do your homework.

Sorry for being blunt, but its the truth.

Id like to know how so many of you are “done” playing your first 80 already? Not to insult, but do you have lives? It took me about 2 weeks, playing 4 hours or so per day, sometimes 8-10 hours, to get to 80. Since the game is still evolving and players are learning, the average dungeon run takes 40 minutes to an hour. I’ve run enough dungeons to know that unless you go with guildees that know every nook and cranny, it will take quite a bit longer. For a full exotic set from one dungeon, with a weapon or two, will take 40 ish runs? Give or take 10 or so? Then theres map exploration, and crafting. How on earth do you guys have full exotics, full crafting, 100%map completion, and a stable of alts… I wonder if you play the game too much.

Dont whine that theres nothing to do at 80, if all you do is play the game 15 hours a day 7 days a week. Yes, there will be nothing to do. Youre no better off in WoW. Go buy mists, play 15 hours a day, be 90 in 2 or 3 days. Farm the rep and dungeons for another week or 2. And you’re done until your guild can raid. Since you’re so hardcore, you’ll have that on farm in 2 weeks and then what? You’re in the same boat.

I laugh at you all. You expected “endgame” when you bought this game. I bet many of you purchased the collectors… Man, you guys wasted your money. Haha…

Relax people. Remember, you are not paying a sub to log in every day.

No mounts please…it removes from the “largeness” of the game…feeling that youre in a very large world. I think it would also somewhat disconnect you from the world. I do think that the cost to travel between way points should be reduced slightly…especially at higher levels. For people in their 70s or a fresh 80, its crazy expensive to use a waypoint.

I had problems with this one too and I am not impaired. A random person stood by at the bottom waiting for me to fall to my death. Took me about 10 tries and 30 minutes, but I am not sure how being impaired would give you a disadvantage here.

Suggested Title: Fables(Im sure there could be a better name for this)
PVE or PVP: PVE
Level Range: All
No. of Players: 1-2 players
Instanced or Open World: Instanced
Description about feature: A story driven mini-dungeon with mobs, bosses, environmental traps designed around 1 or 2 players.
Additional Comments: this is similar to Story mode dungeons and Chronicles from Rift, just catered to a smaller group with lesser reward.

Suggested Title: Scenarios or Tower Defense
PVE or PVP: PVE
Level Range: 70+
No. of Players: 2-3
Instanced or Open World: Instanced
Description about feature: Utilizing mechanics from WvW and Dynamic events, use supply to purchase defenses(similar to a tower defense), and placing the structures in strategic locations to defend a keep. Utilizing these structures coupled with your group’s own abilities, you will defend against waves of monsters that grow in both size and strength, depending on how many players and what wave number it is. This either could be endless or finite. If endless, there could be a leaderboard showing the player names and what wave number they made it to, in a top 1000 fashion.
Possible Rewards: Gold, XP, Mystic Coin
Additional Comments: A good way to test strategy on how it is best to defend keeps, and create choke points for mobs to funnel into.

Hi,

I see a lot of threads from people complaining about lack of endgame, and then a few about how to make the endgame PVE content (Orr) better. I thought it would be best to start a thread that would try to get our ideas across about what types of end game content we would like to see, in a neat concise fashion. Note, that this is not a thread on how to improve upon things like WvW or Dungeons. This is a place to suggest NEW content features, systems, ideas, etc. These ideas could be totally proprietary, or something that you have experienced in other games.

If you reply to the thread with a suggestion, and I encourage you to keep to the topic of suggesting things, please try to do it as laid out below to be uniform.

Reply to that has already been made kasama

Most of them are massive repetative grinds. Not grinds that takes 2 hours to complete 5 times , but grinds that takes 5 mins to complete, then you have to do it over and over and over 200 times.

The others are just “forced” out by fanboys to try and look like theres things to do.

“Immerse Yourself In The World, Talk To NPCs” ONLY roleplayers would do that.
They all pretty much say the same thing.

“Find/Buy All Your Favorite Looking Gear With Gold And Karma” Most already have. Grinding for more gold/karma/tokens to get a set with worse stats and worse looks..doubt to many are a fan of that.

Many of them are the same thing, just using different words. And many of us dislike playing alts, we want to progress with out mains.

I didnt expect there to be raids at the end, but many of uxpected something ele to be there instead. BUt its just like any other mmo without the raiding and only keeping the tedious “pre gearing” boring grind dungeons from those games.
Its like it has 50% less things to do at endgame then any other mmo, and most of it are meaningless to do becouse other then looks, you cant use it for anything.

I would say to you, and anyone who agrees with your post, that you did not read up on GW2 prior to purchasing and that you expected one thing and received another. Guild wars 2, as you know, was meant to not have raids, or a carrot on a stick as most of the people in this thread want. Arenanet couldn’t have been clearer on this point. So I do not see a reason to whine about it on the forums. Once you get your max stat gear set, you grind for looks or not at all. Thats it. You aren’t getting another tier of gear. Not to mention, arenanet said they would have no problem with you breaking from the game to play other games for a while as it is not a sub game, and not meant to capture your attention 24×7 all year round. Nor are they required to do so with no subscription fee.

I see a lot of il informed WoW converts flocking to the forums to whine about lack of endgame.

I am kind of curious as to how much more PvP “content” there is? You have your battlegrounds( spvp), and world pvp(wvwvw) as well as arenas (tourny pvp in a sense). What doesnt this game has that … WoW… has in terms of pvp, and what could it do differently?

Isn’t the content of player vs player driven by simply that, the players? The content is within the people you are facing.

Instead of strolling onto the forums demanding that there be more content for PvP players, which I find hilarious, tell us what you would like to see.
