Trouble with rampage right now is that it’s balanced vs. some classes, OP vs. others.
Thief and mesmer have no trouble vs. rampage
Ele and guardian are about even; if they have cooldowns available they should be able to outlast
Necro, ranger, and engis get dunked on

i can fight it as engi, and ranger should have evade spam if condi or be able to stealth/swoop away/signet of stone if power. necros… im sorry necros… uh pop plague and hope for the best?

made a few adjustments to your p/p. should be better. that blowtorch ohhh bby. could swap torment for intel so you can hit big prybars too.
i only play LB on my ranger, so i can’t comment on condi- but i have not been hearing good things about traps. survival seems like the way to go.

i learnt guardian in pvp then leveled it instantly to 80 with tomes so i could roam with it. having to play it in pve would have ruined the experience for me. 0% map completion is how i like it.

it procs virtue of justice a lot, so theres some burns for ya. i swear by sw/t for zerker guardian and would only swap that set out if it got horribly nerfed. i can get the shole channel off onto people and it wrecks face. my pal will judges in with ring of warding when we are roaming and then we both torch 5 in the ring. few survive.

rampage is very balanced with many counter play available.

This is a prime example of why few people take you seriously.

Ya, you can avoid a few attacks from rampage. And then you’re out of cooldowns and endurance. Now what? You can’t hard CC them. Blind doesn’t work until their Berserker Stance ends. Rampage laughs off soft CC, especially with Dogged March. If they land a couple attacks, you’re pretty much dead or stuck in a CC chain and will die soon; rampage’s CC cooldowns are shorter than most defensive cooldowns. You can’t out-right kill the warrior because the automatic Endure Pain will trigger. The only sure-fire way to live is to run away completely.

So no, it’s not “very balanced”. It needs some tweaks to make it more reasonable.

rampage only has 3 gap closers, one of which has such a long cd it can only be used at the beginning of and end of the transformation. if you dodge them the warrior has to run after you, so kiting is easy. the auto endure pain wont stop conditions but will activate stopping inta gib even outside of rampage so it’s not a rampage problem. not all warriors pop zerker stance before rampage, and even if they do its a big cooldown used. don’t face tank the autos, just like you shouldn’t stand in wells. ideally stack condis on the warrior so they are forced to end the transformation or die, but regular kiting will work too.

if rampage needs anything done to it it’s not allowing stances to continue (like spectral skills for necro) and maybe a slightly longer cd (20s or so).

oh yeah, and you can interrupt the transformation

30sec cd would have been nice and made AED still useful on glass builds. it’s still a useful trait with HT on my cele build, but it always has been.

automated response + self regulating defences is still saving my kitten ohhh yeahhhh

do you have screen shots to prove those damage?
even if those numbers are true, it is working as intended because the victim has low armor and health due to using marauder or other offensive amulets which does not offer toughness and vitality.

Ok you want proof…this is only from 2 screens from yesterday…And you don’t need proof, proof are all those ppl demanding OP elite to be nerfed to the ground. Perma stability perma 30% dmg redzuction and condi reduction plus insane amount of dmg plus can stomp while it’s active= need nerfhammer.

my zerk warriors great sword rush hits 4-5k. these numbers seem fine. rampage should do more damage than you do outside of it. actually that 5600 rush you have in there is from outside of rampage, so Dash only does 1k more damage than Rush for this warrior. that’s not a lot more damage, so i cant see why rampage is an issue damage wise considering its only marginally more than the warrior does regularly, and that it is an elite skill.

stances shouldn’t carry on into rampage, but the 25% endure pain trait should still activate. apart from that and perhaps a small cd increase the skill is fine. i wrote a post on how to fight it another thread, link is bellow. the short version is it’s very telegraphed and easy to kite if the gap closers are avoided.

i wasn’t enjoying pvp for a while, but i feel that was more due to having no builds. i’ve got a great engi build and a nice warrior build now and pvp is good times again. toughness needs a buff, and pu and burning need shaves but that’s it really.

my whole guild left FC over a year ago because of how dead the server was. i play Pacific time and there would be hours with less than five FC players on the map. I’m not joking or exaggerating, it was just miserable.

anet needs to merge or delete the bottom servers. the conditions are just too poor, and everyone in their right mind is transferring off making them even more dead.

1) Torch also only has 1 usable ability (unless people are using Torch 5 effectively with permeating wrath and supreme justice, which I’ve yet to witness).

torch kittens like a truck with zerker and burns through limited blocks (focus 3, arcane shield etc) so quick while procing virtue of justice like boss, plus it cures condis on allies. it’s a dope weapon and there is no set i would take over sword/torch for medi.

the biggest problem with precision as a main stat for engi is that now we only need 53% base crit chance to optimize for coordinated/organized group content. if you choose a stat combo with precision as a secondary and go all the way with it, you get 49% crit chance or so. you then only need like 1-3 pieces of precision main stat to hit 53% (depending on which pieces).

…yeah dont go rampager. dont go assassin. dont go captains. unless youre splashing a couple pieces to hit 53% base rate.

i’m only using rampagers armour, and i should have mentioned it’s for roaming. i have a zerker engi for the rare moments i pve. i hit around 50% crit and it’s solid. i’ve got a knights set with hoelbrak and a dire set with sunless also so i can shake it up whenever.

I’m into rampagers armour with runes of the elementalit and celestial trinkets. it’s a more offensive version of cele that crits a lot. I run it with a zerker rifle with fire and air most of the time. geomancy and leeching would be very good for p/p or p/s. geo is a must for condi builds imo.

if its solo, or small group- sword/sword LB is great for a condition or hybrid build. gear just depends on how tanky/hybrid you want to be. maces, shield, and hammer could be cool if you decide to go into the strength line. you can go into tactics for the longbow burning and shoutheals while running apothecary gear. there are a huge amount of options here.

the last time i played condi warr in wvw i ran s/s lb, full dire gear and krait runes. it’s very tanky, but just does condi. for hybrid sinister or rampagers gear with carrion or celestial accessories could be nice. i very much enjoy rampagers + celestial on my engineer.

that with Krait runes and a mix of sinister and carrion gear should work very well. high condi pressure and lots of crit chance from traits.

I wouldn’t mind doing a full condition build, but I heard that builds like that are frowned upon by most warriors. Do you think soldiers+rabid would be a good substitute?

hybrid carrion/sinisters(or rampage if you don’t want to craft it) would be your best choice imo. you can get great condi and big crits. full condi will allow you to be more tanky, but no power burst. some people give condi players a hard time, but they normally play glass cannons with no condi clear and are just scared of you. condi is viable for many classes and an excellent choice for roaming. however, hybrid is dang good right now and it’s what I would use. Shin runs sinister warrior and wrecks face on twitch.

I think Lich should be able to stomp, and while it would be nice for tornado the constant AOE launches throw downed bodies around so giving it this ability would be pointless.

Necros use it skillfully to time stomping to avoid getting interrupts. However once fully in plague they cannot stomp. Plague counts as a stun breaker.

ah. I deleted my necro about two years ago, so forgive me for the error. in light of this information I think plague should absolutely be able to stomp.

Not every premade is some strategically thought out team composition. Not every group of people partied are even on voice chat. It’s just people that know each other and queue up together. They might be more inclined to res each other than some group of strangers but premades get beaten everyday by pugs. Not every premade gets beaten by pugs but everyday their are parties of people getting beat by 5 solo queuers.

In fact I am willing to bet that the over half of the groups queuing up together are not on voice chat or even all that good at pvp. They’re just queuing with guildies and friends because it’s more fun to get your kitten kicked with friends than 4 strangers.

Maybe…but why do people team up? Because it gives them better chances of winning. It allows them to select their team comp. It allows them to know each other’s builds. And as you mentioned, it allows them to coordinate better resses etc. Even if they’re not on voice chat, these basic advantages apply.

And if they can take the effort to form a team to improve their chances of winning, then that’s seriously enough to go to a team q where they can remain out of the hair of dedicated soloers IMHO.

People team up for different reasons. Not all of them do it for their team composition or to get ressed more or anything like that. In fact I bet the number 1 reason people queue up together is because they know each other and just want to enjoy a social game together with people they know instead of strangers.

they don’t get extra rewards. winning or losing while in a party gives you the same rewards as if you were not in one.

If you read the entire comment thread, the person I’m responding to is saying that if a team/solo Q is implemented, they should get higher rewards than the solo q.

I can’t see where Shadow suggests this in the thread, but other posters do and apologise for the misunderstanding.

if you are dead set on using p/s you should use carrion amulet and different runes. currently you are stacking power damage while using a condition damage weapon and condition damage traits. that is the opposite of synergy, something all builds should aim for.

I would just change some traits and learn how to use rifle. it has excellent damage and control, and as such is very popular in conquest.

What is the question? Mending is not skill grouped and has no changes, as far as I can tell. Zerker stance did not get converted to resistance for 6/23 (still on the table, but hasn’t been decided yet).

Edit: Frenzy is converted to Quickness and the negative effect has been removed. Also gives 5 might on activation. Will update notes.

Mending did change, before the patch it removed 3 conditions now it removes only 2.
It was already unviable before the patch, what made you decide to nerf an already unviable skill?

next they will nerf rifle auto attack damage so we definitely don’t use it lol. nerf the things that are so bad no one uses them, surely this is the best thing to do.

if chronomancer will be bad for pvp I wont buy it for sure there is nothing for pvpers

I share a simmilar opinion. whether I buy the expansion depends completely on how good engineers elite speciation turns out to be. I am so happy with warrior currently it would take a great axe specialisation to make me drop one of the current trait lines, and I really don’t care for any of the other classes enough to buy an expansion for them. I loathe anets crap pve and this games awful lore, so nothing but engineers elite interests me so it better be good if I’m going to spend $50 on it.

I always run hammer on warrior, and am completely fine with the current trait layout. full defense, tactics and discipline is very strong and I don’t mind having to make sacrifices in build crafting. I value short cooldown on hammer skills much more than burst mastery, as adrenaline is not hard to come by in the slightest and I feel merciless hammer outweighs the damage buff.

if you are running zerk the damage on rampage and tornado is pretty nuts, and the moa cc is dope for interrupts. it’s a toss up between X and crate. try both out and find your favourite. I’m into X for zerker myself, but I use all Engi elites and run many Engi builds.

clerics shout Warr with mace/shield and hammer seems solid. five shouts + rampage. the sustain is good, and the stunlock is unreal. however I would really like the old Base shout heals back. I used to be able to run valk (crusaders now) and have a good hybrid bunk, but 1300 shout heals just don’t cut it.

i play from NZ and normally have 200+ ping with 70-100fps. this not an issue I’ve been encountering on any of the four classes I play, warrior, engineer, guardian, and ranger. I never click skills and only use hot keys.

slot some defensive gear. you miss that toughness? slot some Knights gear.

all stats are in gear now, if you want more defensive stats get them. im big into celestial trinkets right now. work great on my zerker medi guard, zerker engi, and my rampagers engi too. damage has increased for every class by a lot, maybe you need some defensive gear now. you can still maintain 2k+ power if you just swap a few trinkets.

The problem is that even with offensive gear im barely matching the damage of some of the lower damage that other classes can put out.

if i slot defensive gear, it doesnt solve the overall balance issue. Its not a gear issue, its a trait issue. The stat loss from traits hurt thief the most. With the planned removal of vitality from guard stacks, this is going to hurt even more.

And no i cant gank people. But they sure as hell can gank others. Like im doing on my warrior right now because its hella easy.

maybe you need to sort out your build. my pals d/d thief does stupid damage and he’s constantly getting angry whispers.

I’m a rage quitter. But I don’t quit if we’re outmatched in terms of skill. I quit when I see rampant kittenery in solo queue ranked which is completely out of my control. It’s frustrating when it happens, and when I bring it up, I get “kitten you noob.” So rather than beat my head against this sort of thing, I afk and pull up some Daily Show on my Ipad. Here is what I see time and time again:

-Late starts; people stand around at spawn and join the fight late resulting in a 50+ point lead before they deign to get off the crapper and join the fight
-kitten capping; two or more people capping an uncontested point. I saw my entire team capping home the other day, IN RANKED! Four people capping home uncontested while the other two points went to the other team without a fight while I get roflstomped solo
-Noone capping home; I see this frequently in Foefire where you need one capper and one to check for crossers
-Inability to rotate
-Not stomping downed players
-Not rezzing downed teammates
-Not standing in circles to contest a point
-Running into a 5 man zerg over and over again instead of rotating away
-Road fighting when caps are needed
-Support toons bunking home instead of mid because mid is too hard to bunk
-People testing new builds
-Not focus firing and/or ignoring a called glassy target
-Focusing the wrong target
-Allowing rangers to rapid fire from range uncontested

I could go on. You figure that you should know your kitten a small bit before queuing ranked. I don’t claim to know everything and I’m far from “pro.” But I am also far from the worst and many times very good to excellent. Most people just play completely kittened in ranked. I’ve been in so many matches where we completely stomped the other team from a dps perspective, but we still lost do to some of the above stupidity. I’ve seen it so often that I need Jon Stewart to soothe away my nerd rage while I afk from the “kitten you noob” nonsense.

you call people noobs and bad at the game but you ragequit. you literally stop playing at all. you are no help to your team. you cap nothing, stomp nothing, interrupt nothing. nobody could play worse than you because you aren’t even playing you’re watching the Daily Show,

slot some defensive gear. you miss that toughness? slot some Knights gear.

all stats are in gear now, if you want more defensive stats get them. im big into celestial trinkets right now. work great on my zerker medi guard, zerker engi, and my rampagers engi too. damage has increased for every class by a lot, maybe you need some defensive gear now. you can still maintain 2k+ power if you just swap a few trinkets.

In exchange for having a lot higher dps in rampage.

i run clerics so rampage doesn’t even hit that hard. the dudes who make you go splat (and yes this has happened to me on zerk engi, 3hit cc chain instakills me and i was like ‘ugh this is so hard to deal with’) will be running zerk with strength runes and will use their burst skill, before rampage for the extra 20% damage an all that. but it’s not like rampage is a challenge if you have a ranged weapon, i mean yeah if you try melee it good luck buddy that’s like trying to have a shoot off with lich form.

rampage is hulk mode, you become the incredible hulk. dope as hell, but get this: there are only three skills you have to dodge, los, invun, stab, block etc. wow!? only three skills!? you crazy guy!?

yeah buddy, its got three ways to get on you so it can crush you (wish it could eat you like ultimate hulk did. ultimate marvel was pretty dope actually, the blob ate the wasp and like all of the x men died and so did thor) throw boulder, the earthshaker leap, and rush:
.the boulder has a slow projectile and a massive wind up, plus its kind of buggy. this skill literally could not be more obvious. if you cant dodge this skill i struggle to see how you can dodge anything in this game. the wind up is huge the boulder is slow and huge.
.the rush has a big animation, is kind of slow, and is pretty buggy, like it can just fail so hard. should be easy to avoid or block thru.
.last is the earthshaker. i can almost guarantee they will open with it (I always do), and if they do they will not be able to use it again until the end of the transformation (mad long cd). it’s basically earthshaker and is as hard to dodge as that skill is.

rampage is a hammer greatsword warrior on steroids. however if you dodge the gap closers, that each have decent cooldowns the warrior just has to run after you. if you have swiftness, 25% movement, or any mobility you should be able to kite it and shoot it. the rampage transformation animation is pretty big and can be interrupted (happened to me last match), so either interrupt it or back the kitten away.

yeah the warrior gains heavy area denial for 20secs, but so do many things in the game (plague, wells, engi bombs, chaos storm). treat him like a human well and you should be fine.

people say L2P and L2Dodge all the time on this forum and this elite is incredibly telegraphed. its almost like QQing about hammer warrior. almost.
seriously if you cant dodge these skills someone like Blacktruth will hit you a skullcrack (much smaller animation, almost 4sec stun) and 100-0 you with quickness and you will be back saying ‘I don’t dodge highly telegraphed cc skills and then i die’. only difference between rampage and a zerk warrior is that the damage and cc skills are the same skills as opposed to being two different skills. but that’s why its an elite, and that’s why the moves are so telegraphed.

i agree with you. we seriously need a Condi vit prec amulet. toughness hardly does anything anymore, so rabid is basically a 2 stat amulet.

Just prevent stomp ability while it’s active,fix the stab to fear conversion and many could argue why stances work while in Rampage.

removing stances when you enter rampage is fine, it’s the same for necro spectral skills. the fear to stab conversion obviously needs to be fixed. but removing the ability to stomp/ress in rampage would be awful for the skill. it’s often used to finish and stomp, or to ress much like necromancer plague. i forget if you can stomp and ress in any of the other transformations (you cant in tornado obvs because it ping pongs), but i know you can in rampage and plague and many use them for that exact purpose.

Yes, everyone is doing really high damage. But that doesn’t mean we should ignore things that are clearly being abused, such as when Engineers were one-shoting people out of stealth. Warriors are getting noticed now because they are running around, completely immune to damage and cc effects, and hitting people for 10k attacks.

is it abuse though? i feel like it’s a symptom of the problem the game has right now, and not a cause. damage, both condition and power increased dramatically, while vitality and toughness were given no such compensation. thus damage is far too high and everyone goes splat.

rampage also i feel should be a difficult to deal with skill, it’s an elite with a long cooldown. perhaps the cooldown should be increased by 20 or so seconds. it should be harder to deal with than the zerker ham/gs warrior who popped it, who i should mention has more mobility than rampage and only somewhat smaller amount of cc. rampage is also very very telegraphed, not to mention with no condi clear it is very vulnerable to burning.

Comparing rampage to the class with the worse elites:

The problem isnt Rampage, it’s classes like the elementalists that have no useful elites when other classes all have amazing elites.

Is rampaged OP? compared to the elementalists elites hell yeah. In my second pvp match on a brand new warrior I never played I won a 1v2 with Rampage. Compare that with tornado, where the most you can hope for is a knockdown.

Basically, rampage isn’t the problem, it’s the lackluster elementalist elite that is.

me and my pal both run X on our engineers and have got quite a few kills with tornado. it’s not as good as rampage but the blind spam, cc spam, and the fact it hits for 2-3k per hit is nice. however i do agree that a lot of elite skills seriously need buffs. most of the time i would rather take a forth utility skill. actually, that could be a nice thing to add.

and yes bersi war is by far the hardest spec to play succesfully in decent or higher lvl of play many many people (about 80%) totally suck on bersi warrior they can’t play it AT all

Let’s be realistic here. Yes, people are exagerrating how OP Rampage is. However, faulting anyone for dying to an elite that can dish out 10k damage attacks in quick succession is pretty silly. Overall, Rampage is not OP. But like many other skills in the game right now, the damage is too high, and people are noticing it more on Rampage cause Warriors are running around with full imunity killing players in two or three shots. I’m sure for a Warrior it is fun and all, but for other players it is not much of a fair fight.

yeah, but everyone is dying in three shots. my pals skullcrack build 100-0 my zerker engi in one 100b skullcrack combo. warrior autos for 2k+, 100b does over 10k, rush hits for 4-5k. rampage doesn’t do a lot more damage than the warrior does out of rampage. my other pal hits a 5k+ cloak and dagger then backstabs for 10k+, it’s so easy to kill now.

i just cant see how rampage is problematic as a skill currently, when instagib is so easy to achieve in the current state of the game. damage is stupid high right now, and while im not a fan i cant see how this is an issue with rampage.

they can only look at your build in a custom arena or hotjoin. if you’re so paranoid just don’t go into those. i have builds that i have kept between me and guildies and will continue to do so. a guildie even won a 1v1 tournament with my cele bomb build, that thing was so beast but never became meta because i hid it away. i still got rad stuff like the goku guard, but homes you gotta talk to me in TS if you want that build. I don’t want to fight goku guardians fml.

if its solo, or small group- sword/sword LB is great for a condition or hybrid build. gear just depends on how tanky/hybrid you want to be. maces, shield, and hammer could be cool if you decide to go into the strength line. you can go into tactics for the longbow burning and shoutheals while running apothecary gear. there are a huge amount of options here.

the last time i played condi warr in wvw i ran s/s lb, full dire gear and krait runes. it’s very tanky, but just does condi. for hybrid sinister or rampagers gear with carrion or celestial accessories could be nice. i very much enjoy rampagers + celestial on my engineer.

eh. I’m on CD and Doc pulls big zergs when he’s on, and he streams all the time. he’s a big hype guy with a solid active wvw guild. this is exactly the right kind of person to give access to. Doc will stream the stress test while leading a guild group, and that’s exactly what you want as anet. ofc promotion is good, plus you get to watch player gameplay and feedback live as devs, thats super useful.

sure, there are other streamers like Shin who could have also got invited but they don’t command, they roam. we all know zerging is the main way to play and to stress the servers, so it makes sense that they would choose a commander. Doc has a high profile and a strong following, sure there are better and more dedicated players but how is anet to know who they are? they could make a sign up forum, but that would just descend into arguments and hurt feels. everyone claiming they deserve it more and raging.

Doc is a known quantity with unique benefits. i would have chosen him too.
