Grenade bug on Engi is ridiculous either fix the bug or nerf the amount of nades to something reasonable.
god it’s fun though.
I find it to be a good defensive tool when a thief or Mesmer decides to burst you completely out of stealth from full hp to downed.
Unlike warriors or rangers, engies can’t do any damage when invulnerable.
also i should add im running zerk with runes of the wurm for the big KO nades. that’s super glassy, seems like the damage may be fine in the current super dps meta.

pve is really easy, and engi is in a solid spot. you should be fine.
mortar was a worthy replacement for the buffed supcrate (you can overcharge blast its water now)… yesterday. it’s just ‘some fields’ now.
im just so suprised. i really didn’t see it coming. guess 2-3k autos were too much. wonder when life blast will be nerfed.
10% would have been ok… but 28% kitten

ive been running 4 elixirs with mortar for wvw. probably going to swap H for HT, but it’s a nice spec. loads of might, utility boons, stealth, invn, and a reflect. mortar auto with quickness and might is beast mode.
before you call me scrub im still running 3kit condi so there is my e(ngineer)peen.

im a casual and on the rare occasion im running dungeons if i see a rifle warrior i will ask them to swap or kick them from party. it just slows the group down and benefits no one.
i really wish rifle did damage, but its just crap. engineer rifle is awesome however, and our mortar, Egun and flamethrower are all rifles of sorts too. ive been jamming HGH and swapping between mortar and rifle, feel like i always got a gun for the job.
thief looks to be getting melee staff.
What really bugs me is the animation of the bomb kit. You have no idea what you are doing and how far you are with your casts anymore. It’s disturbing and it looks ridiculous…

I’ve actually been living inside of the bomb my charr carries. it’s very roomy.
you can make a killshot build for wvw but that’s really it. it’s still a gimmick build regardless.
its the worst weapon warrior has available to them. damage is poor and utility is almost non existent
you hit the nail on the head. mace and hammer are slow weapons focused on cc, not damage. that’s their purpose, and it’s why they see little use in pve and a lot of use in pvp.

mainhand axe has nice damage. give axe/mace a go, its rad set. sadly pve is very basic in this game, and many skills weapons and traits are not useful because its all about damage. pvp is a different story and i would suggest it if you enjoy the stunlock. ive run mace/mace hammer many times and it’s great fun to stun the life out if people.
while nades and not bombs with condi ? if you take granadeer you can not have incendiary powder in your build … it is a great loss for a condi build …
Grenadier is an adept, incendiary is a GM… and in different trees all together (Explosion for grenade and firearms for incendiary).
Nades have a LOT of bleeds combined with Shrapnel which has 3X the effect basically. Bomb seems nice for some stuff, but I really feel that it’s a bit lacking outside of dropping a firebomb and maybe concussion bomb every so often. More of a secondary condi kit not a primary, it’s 1 skill being just high power damage.
firearms has sharpshooter for 33% bleed on crit also, so nades with shrapnel and sharpshooter do serious bleeds if you have some crit chance.
while nades and not bombs with condi ? if you take granadeer you can not have incendiary powder in your build … it is a great loss for a condi build …
nades have 3 projectiles per attack so proc bleeding on crit traits much more often, many of which have no icd. you can have IP and grenadier simultaneously, in fact my condi p/p build has both. you just have to take explosives and firearms, and both have great condi traits in them.
mortar auto spam splatters people. it hits much harder than rifle auto.
condi definitely nades. from my testing definitely mortar for power (I’m getting 2k+ autos in cele/knights in wvw. zerker must hit much harder, but I didn’t play wvw on my zerk/assassins engineer today so I can’t give a general number. should be high though).
hybrid could go either way, but mortar has poor condi application regardless.

Giving us Conjuration skills and giving us a Conjure Great Fire Axe would do the trick.
same for Conjure Land Spear. Which could also explain that datamine art of warrior with land spear.
I take conjure versions of them till the real deal comes in…

i run runes of the sunless on dire gear with rabid accessories, runes are whatever but the old dire/rabid combo seems to still be the best for condi engi. there are still a lot of power roamers around.

if you cant kill an engi when gear shield is on CD because you wasted all your cds on it you are the best player in the game and need to be nerfed. it’s unfair that you are so smart and so skilled and so knowledgable about the game.

shapeshifting utilites would be dope. brings me back to DA:O where i beat the game as a shapeshifting mage.
been playing a lot of ranger lately, it’s looking like it might take third place in my favourite classes. although nothing will ever trump engineer, especially with the new mortar and incoming hammer.

bomb kit would be fine if the bomb stayed the same size and did not become the size of a small car when you play charr.

Imagine if one of your elites was a 100% chance to turn you into a tornado and the other two also sucked. :P

At least Mortar is currently fun to mess around with even if it doesn’t do anything. Ele’s don’t even have a “fun” elite. I can’t remember the last time I even USED my elite.
mortar skill 5 has comedy value ill give you that, but part of the comedy value come from the fact that mortar is so bad that using it becomes comical. however, you needn’t worry as nefed necro plague will provide the ultimate comedy skill when you pop it in a condi build and kill yourself.
can’t give a might generation trait to every warrior weapon… that would cause so many problems
play wvw or pve where survivability stats and personal utility matter. pve will continue to be dps + dps buffs + minor survivability buffs.
buy a better pc. sorry bud, but your current one just can’t hack it.

how much do you use the mine? i run it as a staple in my cele bomb build for pvp and it’s bugless and incredible. no one that i have given my build to has complained about it either (once I explained how to use it to maximum effectiveness). seriously underrated skill imo.
I wouldn’t really call my build an official “build” since I’m trying to have fun. I typically run one kit, usually Flamethrower, one elixir, usually S for escapes or rocket boots, and the remaining one is open to really anything. I typically use either another elixer, or some form of AoE skill, Throw Mine being one of them. And I’m a WvW player. When I’m using that skill a lot of times I can’t tell if that skill is even going off. Or hitting anyone (pushing them away if my telltale sign.) Then there’s usually no blast animations when there’s a zerg vs zerg fight when skills are overlapping. So I thought this skill could be improved just a bit.
this sounds like more of a problem with the wvw zerg setting and it’s hectic nature. i can see the explosion in a pvp teamfight, but in a zerg i can see it being lost in the sea of bodies and particle effects.
Ranger and Engineer already had a way to put Revealed on you, preventing you from stealthing again immediately, and now Engineer has another on a 20s cooldown and supposedly 6s reveal length too, that will trigger when the Engi ‘strikes’ in stealth. That means with the utility and trait up to 12s of reveal just from an engineer.
Stop pretending like any engy runs goggles. What a strawman. Engies have 2 kits and one utility that’s gonna be a stunbreak or condi removal of some kind. It sure as hell isn’t gonna be goggles. It’s 6 sec reveal from that trait, that’s it. Nobody is gonna run googles and then kinetic to double down on analyze when they could drop double elite toolbelt (medpacks or cannon).

They could run it, and some will. You cannot possibly deny that. Many will run the trait or switch to it when they see a thief, at least if they are already in that line because it will be easy. I think those are relevant to this thread, yes? And the goggles are a potential. You know, just like Rangers run Sic ‘em. Neither are intended to distract from the discussion here, which is fully relevant to the fact an engineer alone has the potential to keep a player revealed for nearly 12s, and within 8s after reveal out of stealth again if you somehow managed to live and stick around them. With the trait alone yes it’s ‘just’ 6s and they can take other utilities which of course are far more useful. But rangers could take something besides Sic ‘em and yet quite a few run it (of course for ranger there aren’t a lot of other choices, but there are a few).
You said elsewhere to play other classes. Well I have at least 1 of everything. I’ve played other classes, and I will fight a thief in stealth on each of them. Just today I ran right into a thief’s SR and cloaked on them, backstabbed, and downed them, all without seeing them, because I knew where they would be standing. Do it a lot actually. Probably get accused of cheating, I’ve been waiting for the whispers. It’s simply because I know where they will be.
Of course if you are glass on another class, you should expect to be focused by a thief. And as said, If thief gets revealed because they miss on an attack, then every class should be revealed if they so much as miss, including mesmer and phantasms. I don’t want that either at all, but it would only be fair, right? Or is that too much straw even though it’s a direct response to a post prior that I didn’t bother to quote?

Dude nobody runs goggles and nobody is gonna run goggles. It’s bad enough that engineer has to give up 1 utility slot to a kit just to be like other classes (i.e. having 2 weapons), nobody is gonna sacrifise utility slots on engineer for those kittenty goggles.
only SD builds run goggles and those are zerker.. if you cant beat zerker sd engi on a thief wow. idk what to say to you. it has no spamable AOE so it can’t deter backstabs, so there should be little issue taking it out considering how squishy it is if the run goggles as the stunbreak.

could be a nice amulet. don’t touch crusader though, it’s perf for shout warrior.

heart skipped a beat when i saw new valk stats but then i noticed and i was like phew. crusader warrior here we come. oh baby.

tbh, as an engineer I wouldn’t take it. it’s a good trait sure, but you really don’t need it. you can just spam AOE at your feet and most thieves will try and tank it. the rest of them switch to shortbow so i can nail them with hipshot.p
most thieves I encounter in pvp play like they have been recently lobotomised and think eating 1k+ bomb autos plus condis twice a second is a great idea. most of them are so eager they teleport into the AOE.
i like it in wvw and miss it in pvp. it’s obvious where i stand.
Shouldn’t you start by nerfing the value to perhaps 75% and allow players “test” from there? Going from 100% to 50% seems a bit extreme does it not? Is the goal to butcher the value and steadily increase it to “work as intended” so people will not complain about vigor constantly being nerfed?
Because they wanted to give engis more dodges than other classe hence the 50% more endurence regeneration trait.
you know warriors have a +40% endurance signet right? other classes also have endurance traits also.
