i run sw/sh hammer with full shouts and its been working just fine. it will be even better with the new traits.

actually getting separate keys would be nice. then i would actually get a free account to play EU pvp with and be able to upgrade my NA one.

Engineers got substantially revamped. The class got many new traits, but it also lost many other traits.

Thats the point. The amount of work put in engi compared to ranger, war, necro or even guard. We dont need a genius here to see AN favors engi. Even the stream alone took 45min jsut for engi..

so i play warrior and engineer. many of the engineer traits i like have been deleted, and all of my builds simply dont exist anymore. on warrior, traits just got buffed and merged. my builds all still work, but just become even more beastly.

i dont know how i feel about the engineer rework until i play it, but i know that warrior will be beast 2x because they did things like merge all of the shout traits.

a rework is not always ideal, and does not mean more of a buff. engineer got significant nerfs and lot of trait deletions, warrior got mostly merges and buffs it’s hard to say which will be better. with all the condition changes, which many people forget destroy engineers engineer’s place in the pvp meta is still unsure.

that is the valk shout bunker ive been running for months now. my guildes hate duling it and it rocks in pvp. its gonna get much more beastly with the patch, but its super beef right now. hammer is your main dps. keep up fury and land that final thrust.

the beef level is insane. you can just eat rapid fire.

i have multiple geared lvl 80s that i leveled in EotM and with pvp tomes. they have 0% map completion, because i did pve three years ago and i have no interest in the dumb AI and stale maps. i am not alone here, many people do not pve at all.

ai is so bad in this game that circle kite + ranged auto will get you through almost anything

the whole engineer trait system was redesigned and none of our old builds exist anymore. no idea how good the class is going to be. we had a lot of changes, but a lotof nerfs and deleted traits too.

warrior on the otherhand, oooohhhhhh babbby i can build a bumker that has 2k power + perma regn + AOE 370 power to allies. thats like 2400~ power with no might on a bunker. oh bbbby the warrior love is the realness.

anyone who is sensible knows that anet has no favourite class, they love all classes with relative equality- except necromancer.

Condi are not a problem, you just speaking purely from 1v1 perspective.

News from last night – shoutbow got buffed

having to be carried by a shout build with soldier runes is a problem. you can’t fight the condi players without them clearing for you, so you have to stick by the shout warrior/guardian/ranger. people complain about necros having to be babysat all the time, this situation is hardly different. more than one condi player can overload the shout players’s condi clear, or the other team can just focus him down. then it’s all over you die.

full condi teams are going to be something to consider, and you are not going to want an engineer on your team if you’re fighting one of those.

problem is a blocked or missed attack wont crit, and the sigils activate on crit.

condi rangers are probably their best counters. I don’t think ive ever lost a 1v1 to a non-esport engie.

condi ranger is my least favourite thing to fight on my engineers. anything condi with a bit off cc should do the trick. condi bomb after healing turret and gg.

there is no solo queue. it’s been gone for a long time.

people are going to continue to queue with friends, because you know its a team game in a social mmo. i queue alone rarely, and if you dont like that because you cant handle people working together in a team game i really dont care. i will play the team game as a team game.

anet matchmaking will continue to do dumb things like 3 thieves and ofc no players class swap for their team. learn more than one class and swap to fix your own comps. its not like anet matchmaking has been improving lol.

they just need to get over themselves and class swap, but they just have to play theif and ofc they are good enough to win with three thieves (delusions of grandeur).

rampage is full melee, so in a teamfight you can just focus another player while kiting rampage. alternatively you can just target the rampage warrior and just down him, its gonna be more work than normal- but depending on your teams classes shouldn’t be too hard.

rampage is great, but its not ‘i just wiped your whole team with 6k ranged autos good’. you can kite it, and even though it gets a 25% damage reduction its still very killable.

wow can’t wait to do boring skill challenges on all of my 9 geared 80s. love wasting my time and being bored. love repeating tasks to get traits I used to have back. love unlocking skills twice. love fighting brainless AI on 80s and pressing F. love walking through the same map that I walked through in beta almost 3 years ago. so much fun.

remember when traits used to free? remember the last revamp when everyone with everything unlocked got to keep their progression? yeah well I do. can’t say I would be thrilled to have all of my progress wiped.

it’s the same for any class except for ele. learn all of your tooltips.

once you know what you have at your disposal all you have to do is use them at the right time. now, we can’t tell you what that time is unless we sit looking over your shoulder talking to you. things like using gear shield to block important attacks, use both shield abilities, landing shrapnel grenades, magnet -> pry bar -> nades, landing geomancy, keeping poison up should be obvious if you know any game mechanics. if you don’t there are new to gw2 pvp videos on YouTube and it seems you might need to watch some.

nearly every skill you have is useful and on a relatively short cooldown. I find myself rotating between weapons and kits constantly, only favoring grenades because of the AOE auto attack.

I think a lot of players mistake issues with stealth for issues with thief. I have few issues with the class outside of dire thieves in wvw. I actually hate rangers, especially conditions. fighting them makes me regret rolling engineer so hard.

however the new SA trait line will cause problems, especially with the aforementioned dire thieves. if you know anything about dire thieves, then you will know how powerful they are going to become.

I’ve been practicing using magnet to fire players into the air. Temple is for sure the best map for it, I managed to kill an engineer bypassing downstate with the bug yesterday- but I only managed to get it once in the match. still fired him into the air more than five times tho, never ceases to crack me up.

sure, perhaps stealth needs some tweaks, but the only big problems I see with thief are in the new SA line.

Again I return to the point you made that made me change my mind from agreeing with you that channeled skills like RF (which does a lot more damage than BS + Sigil Proc) is to dodge twice or counter with an interrupt as soon as it starts. I was with you on the revealing out of stealth until you made the point that “to stop those things do this” which I then applied to stealth attacks. So in answer to your question, yes it does have the same amount of counter play as some other mechanics in the game.

What? That makes no sense. You missed the first part, where I pointed out how you can see the RF attack coming so you know exactly when to dodge. When someone is stealthed, you don’t see the attack coming, so you have to estimate when to dodge (which is inherently less reliable). (People can also stealth out of LOS, in which case blind-dodging becomes even less reliable). You also left out the part where rapid fire has a cooldown.

Also, you also don’t have to dodge twice vs RF, one dodge makes the rest of it do as much damage as an autoattack.

No I got that part and that’s when I realized that just about every way to gain stealth has a tell too and that can be interrupted which is a counter to it. Either way we will just have to agree to disagree on this. It’s not like it really matters if we convince one another anyways. The final decision is with the game designers and since they have merged these threads they obviously have paid attention to it. They will make changes or not depending on their own decisions and testing.

My last part on this because it really is just getting to be a ridiculous thread is that the Thieves are defending stealth as it is for the most part because without it the class is just a lack luster melee class with 12-14k hp and almost no armor. That doesn’t make it as OP as some of the people are thinking. Stealth or not they are still paper and the best counterplay to stealth attacks is to go with the best defense is a good offense strategy.

exactly. if I queue up with my zerker or rabid engineer and I find out the rest of the team is zerker then I’m swapping. currently matchmaking takes neither classes or amulets into account, so we get teams where no one can stand on point, and it’s bloody hard to win with those.

sounds like you didn’t beat him dude. sounds like you lost.

stealth disengages, and just disengages in general are a sensible thing to do in pvp, especially if you can come back with more health/cooldowns and win. you are more useful to your team not dead in most situations (sometimes you need to contest, but not always and not on a zerker).

that’s not that good. when me and guildies do courtyard we go for 0-500.

no venom share, just interrupts, group buffs and being able to play.

the only might stacking cele engi has is the sigil of battle. however, HGH can hit 25 on it’s own- hence why we may see it make a comeback.

Condition won’t be scary imo. What is scary is the fact that celestial will be better than ever with these changes. Unless its nerfed 15%. These are for the two reasons I stated above.

perhaps not so much in pvp, but in wvw ohhhhh boy… let’s just say i know people with condi builds that have 2000 condition damage.

mid at foefire is awful with the tombstones, not to mention this can happen mid leap skill. it’s the worst when it happens mid earthshaker, it’s like ‘anet are you for real?’.

condi is going to be scary, and hybrid with might has more than potential.

with mortar kit and these changes i can see HGH coming back with an unholy vengeance.
