Just to give you an idea how many interrupt skills a warrior can have AT ONE TIME. Thats 10 with 1 being situational(fall trait). It’s easily feasible to always have an interrupt available in this setup. So yes I do think an internal CD is needed for the runes. Also your suggestion still allows a warrior to stack 17 stacks of confusion with only 2 interrupts, that’s still beyond ridiculous.
That logic is flawed, you are talking about taking a Mace&Shield with physical utilities wich is a power build. It means you have very low condition damage unless you sacrifice a more important stat and end up with less direct damage or defense for doing so.
Also the idea of chain stunning your ennemy to max out confusion isn’t smart either because an incapacitated ennemy can’t trigger confusion damage if he is unable to attack you. That’s why lowering the duration and intensity is the best you can do to nerf the Rune because you keep flexibility with your controls but it also prevents you from chain stunning the ennemy while still keeping a way to forgiving uptime on your remaining confusion stacks.
Adding an internal cooldown also breaks its potential with AoE, just look what happend to the Warrior leg specialist trait when they added an internal CD because of the Sword/Mh revamp. Greatsword, Hammer and Rifle (traited) builds took a very big hit and the trait became worthless. Even for a sword build it is counter productive to use that trait.
I’m not saying my solution is perfect, sinds it will remain powerfull to both Warriors and Thiefs, but adding an internal cooldown is just a good way to make Rune of Perplexity the next Leg Specialist candidate.
Your logic is flawed thinking of 1v1 only. If I’m in a group of 5 putting oodles of confusion on everyone who cares if I’m not doing much other damage. It was just an example anyways to show how many interrupts you can have at one time to point out the need for an icd.
Anyways, lets look at a REAL condition warrior build that I ran and was completely ridiculous.
With Mace/Sword Sword/Shield and bleeds that ticked 135 BEFORE might. I had btw 28k hp, 3000 armor and still ran with Cleansing Ire, this is with no Ascended btw only exotics. I still had 6 interrupts (including fall trait – which btw you would be surprised how much use you can get out of in normal terrain), could have been 7 but I ran one defensive utility. Torment that ticked very high along with bleeds ticking 135+ and the ability to stack 21 confusion with 2 interrupts(very easy to do).. All while still being very defensive with 3 blocks and decent condi removal through cleansing ire. This is also while having spam immobiles through leg specialits + flurry.
The build itself was already over the top, these runes with no ICD made it utterly ridiculous.
A couple of months ago, people would just spit with disgrace at the Warrior’s Distracting Strike saying it was a garbage trait, even when it got improved. Now we get a Rune wich does exactly the same to a bit greater extend and people are crying out loud for a nerf.
- Does it realy needs a nerf? Yes, because the confusion effect last way to long compared to available traits and skills from other professions. Runes should remain inferior to profession mechanics, not otherwise.
- Does it need an internal cooldown? No, because it only works on interupts skills wich have usualy long cooldowns and because it is already hard countered by stability.
- Should the duration stay greater compared to other confusion effects? Yes, because your ennemies do not trigger confusion when they are stuned or knocked down/away.
So my sugestion would be to reduce both duration and intensity from the 6th bonus on the rune.
Right now,
Rune of perplexity : 5*Confusion during 10sec (+30%) / no internal CD
Distracting Strike : 4*Confusion during 8sec / no internal CD
After some rebalancing,
Rune of Perplexity : 3*Confusion during 8sec (+30%) / no internal CD
Distracting Strike : 4*Confusion during 8sec / no internal CD
Adding an internal cooldown isn’t smart, because (unless you play an offhand pistol thief) condition weapons usualy lack decent amount of stuns/knocks. The other weapons with greater acces to those effects are mostly power weapons meaning you will either deal bad condition damage or sacrifice direct damage instead to make confusion more effective.
The only remaining issue comes with the Thief profession, because they can build up for initiative regen and keep using their headshot. If you already consider the fact Dagger&Pisol, Sword&Pistol and Pistol&Pistol are a lot more focused around power build rather than condition, you can greatly reduce its effectiveness by lowering both intensity and duration. Let the Rune set keep its no internal CD, they already gave up a lot of damage by going around that kind of build.

I don’t know a lot about Engi skills but from my friends I gather they can run about 5 interrupts at once along with having access to several skills that apply confusion themselves.
Well I’m out for an unknown time due to IRL being a kitten.. So tonight was my last run for awhile.. Found some good fights running around for an hour or so on my fat Mesmer so ty GOM/AR for giving me a nice goodbye.
I like the idea really.. The suggested buffs don’t look too strong to me, quality of life things for those who fight in the field. The 3s quickness part is a bit much though and would have to go imo. I don’t think these are anywhere near as strong as the Guard Stacks so seems pretty decent.
Why nobody mention the Warrior torment.. Easiest to land and most OP since it’s hard to cleans in the way that it applies over time..
Anyways, since you are using torch I’m going to guess you use prismatic understanding like all the other FOTM’ers .. It is likely you are using your scepter 2 while having the aegis boon and the boon is taking the block rather then the scepter.. So you see “block” and think u landed it, but you really didn’t.
Lots of people wanna “punish” Devon, and I get that…But this will be at the expense of NSP, 7 weeks of getting zerged by silver-leaguers will likely do more damage to that server than to Mr. Carver.
At the end Devon might learn something from it, but that server could be in bad shape, and Devon won’t be there anymore but the NSP player base will have to deal with the repercussions.
In the end it likely will come down to next week’s match-up…It was a great thing to realign the leagues, it was an equally terrible idea to not “lock-in” the matches at that announcement; instead giving servers/people 3 weeks to transfer/tank/etc to manipulate whatever legitimacy this “league” nonsense was going to have in the first place.
Seriously you spend all these months with randomized matchups gathering data, and in 1-months time it will literally be 50% garbage because the players are moving server to server and manipulating it all…..
You cant do damage to NSP.. We have been beaten and battered time and again, nothing ever changes, people don’t transfer in or out here for the most part. The people on this server are dedicated and like the tough fights. Most don’t even care if we win or lose just if we have fun fights… In fact I hear much more complaining when we get an easy match because it is boring.. The truth is, steamrolling Bronze is what could actually damage the server.
ZoS are cowards, will not fight solo, and will not fight outside of the camp, and when they do they run back in it……Go back to PvE scrubs. Wanna help the WvW team, stay in your zerg. So tired of cowards like this, that I always charge into the camp even though I know I’ll die. Especially when the scrub ran at the first sight they would die……Cowards, all of you. Don’t worry 90% of the ppl who WvW are just like that.. EB has it’s share of tower humping scrubs who only come out when they have 2x the #’s..
The ones I like the most are the guys who hang way back or inside a tower, then come out and jump you for the final hits when you are 1v3 or something, then emote etc… You, you are my favorite type of person in WvW!!!

Really because our 5man hasn’t come across much of anything other then 20+ groups we’ve been fighting all day long.. Even when they siege up fully upgraded camps and hump them we still been fighting..
We have been on at those same times and have been in be. Many times when we run into a group, it’s main objective is to enter the nearest structure until they can be assured they outnumber us.
I admit, it is smart for ppt, but this match seems to be one of the most I enjoyable yet. At least sbi fought us open field with their guilds.

Most of the guilds that open-field on Ebay have ~20 people online during raids, so we’re obviously going to get mobbed by you guys. Mid-raid, I noticed you guys only because you were lagging my computer to death. I’d suggest that if you really wanted fair, open field fights, set something up or run with fewer people. The only other guild I know about that runs with so many people in your style is Pyro. Lots of people, but you can’t really tell if they’re good of if they just outnumber you.
Also, there was a nice three-way fight near Anz earlier in the night, where Yaks was composed predominantly of [Os] and after NSP were killed you guys ran away from Ebay, even though the numbers were clearly in your favour.

He’s not confused about Os running with what looked like 25+ in Eternal. I mean, it doesn’t rival AD’s numbers as we always run with 30+ but it was pretty impressive.
He is probably confusing Os with One from YB. They were running with 30+ in Eternal. That would have been good fight, sounds like it didn’t happen though.

Not only that you inflated the facts in order to make the situation look better for you.. There were 3 warriors. One with a mask, an asura, and one with a white beard. You also had the mesmer, the thief, and the necro. So already you are lying about your group of 5, and you had the tM necro/guard jump in after the first 3-4 wipes. It must be interesting to be so delusional. You wiped us one time, when we engaged not seeing that the guardian had switched to a necro and when it was next to your sentry. There was only one point at which we ever had pugs with us, and it was after the majority of wipes, but at most it made us even in numbers. You call us out for class switching when you did it first, also 2 of your warriors ran through at least 4 different builds in the hour or so that we were wiping you. I decided to switch to my guardian after every engagement led to me getting double signet of spited, killshot, and focused by your absolutely terrible d/p thief.
You can deny and make excuses all you want, but at the end of the day if you look at your hour spent roaming against us and call it a success, then I genuinely feel sorry for you. XOXO used to be a challenging group to fight, but now it is just another set of free lootbags.
Our group was 2 warriors me,puzzle one mesmer max and one necro xumn. The tm wasnt in all the fights, and we didn’t “have” him do anything he just showed up. You had add’s the whole time.. The whole time the fight was pretty even on numbers , some we had 1-2 more others u had 1-2 more.. At no point was it 7v4 though which was my only reason for responding to counter that LIE.
Yes we were playing badly, yes you outplayed us.. But to come on here saying you repeatedly wiped us 7v4 to stroke your kitten is kittening gay..

Could you two be any more obvious about teaming up against EB in EBG? Taking our north and south entrances on ol, yaks coming to the aid of nsp at vel, not attacking each other…sheesh if you two love birds are going to have date night at our OL at least take some breath mints first and freshen up your game enough to get in.

Full condition warrior can drop 12 to 18 stacks of confusion for 15 seconds which will do approximately 2100 damage per action. My thief’s autoattack sequence (4 hits in ~ 1.25 seconds).
Works out to 8.4k per autoattack sequence, or in other words, you can kill yourself in 2 seconds flat. Just autoattacking.
That’s not broken at all.
Actually if I get just 2 interrupts I stack 21 stacks on you which hits for 4500-5k depending on might / buttlust.

mesmer have a GS , it makes for great range killshots, by anti ranger i mean most rangers I run into wont do much to me, uptime retal and uptime reflect, can make for great combos, downside, my fat legs wont let me run 100 yards to catch up to them if they are tanky …

As for the retaliation, i keep retal and regen up 90% of my fights, saying it is so 6 months ago, well idc, it works fine in combat, it keeps most burst builds at bay and the focus has another use besides reflect and retal, and its useful for a reason apart of just tanking, but again i won’t explain much more through that.
The only other reason for focus is to pull so noobs can land ileap since so many baddies have issues landing it.
Look into whirl finisher and light field = AoE cleanse
reason it work for some targets its because i always have some way to make it happen
your warden was never in the focus field you put it on yourself while your warden was in the middle of the field(not combo field) doing nothing. #2 Still doesn’t explain why you used it against a melee warrior with no conditions..

As for focus and the reasoning behind it against stun or burst build,s I would explain and any mesmer with some experience around how things work, would understand why a focus and a sword hand in hand can be useful against burst builds, specially against warriors or guardians. No lol dont flatter yourself, the asuran guardian was alright he survive dliek a champ, you on the other hand got ganked several times, and as for even fight, times we had them, times you outnumbered us, times we outnumbered you, as for the cheese builds, didn’t you say that 1v1 is all about cheese builds? I said when it comes down to it, some builds exploit a mechanism, which when rendered useless, makes the build dumb, as for the whole spawn thing, again don’t flatter yourself, the guardian, asuran one was doing all the work on me. you were retreating and running away when ever i got you down to a low hp mark.
For all that anti-cheese you run, you sure got destroyed repeatedly by that [DARK] fotm perplex mesmer.

We love you PD you are our BM brothers from another mother. I know me and Xumn (human war + asuran war) had fun running into a couple of you several times while we were wxp grinding for our stacks.. Sorry we bailed on the fight a couple times but it was taking too long and our bday boosters were wasting away..
Yeah I’m confused, I can think of maybe 3 of us that run mesmer every day…and my only other option really is a support guardian, not so fun for solo roaming.
Don’t be confused.. We are known on FC for being a guild of Mesmer’s and thieves, because that’s literally what we used to be.
Also it would be sad for me to rage and be alone, but the sad part is it isn’t just me or my guild in here saying NSP is a kitten about their roaming, it’s coming from both sides of DH and FC, and in fact it’s multiple people. The other side is the only ones defending NSP are either XOXO or OS, and sadly I’ve wooped several OS already , XOXO may be the only competition I will ever come across if that.

.. It is likely you are using your scepter 2 while having the aegis boon and the boon is taking the block rather then the scepter.. So you see “block” and think u landed it, but you really didn’t.
It felt good to win one after getting rolled by zergs like 3x in a row right before that haha..
