Celestial gear are really powerful in this game, thus these time gates are more than reasonable. Heck, if Anet changed the limit to 1 charged per week, it would still be ok.

Celestial is a niche stat combo viable in only a handful of builds whereas something like Berserker or Dire is viable and powerful on way more builds.

I have not said you couldn’t get it,

I just pointed out you could have made enough for 20 full sets of armor by now, if you had pout in some effort and while failing to do so you thought today: “well just make one celkestial armor” and you found out it’s timegated… and you’re crying it’s all bad.

I had 45 Charged Q. Crystals when I thought let’s try to make an armor, and I did it the same day. It took me about 45 seconds for 45 days in my home instance with one of my (then 9) alts. Just load up 3 full stacks of quartz crystals and you’re good. you do not even have to leave if you have 5: just click deposit.

Well you make a lot of assumptions and most of your posts is just plain pointless.

But lets clear the fact that I’ve always known about the time gate. I’ve also used what crystals I already did have to play around with a build on my ranger.. But I use 8 toons and maybe I wanna have a set for all of them to play with have you ever considered that..

Yet you still ignore the main point that it is pointless and ridiculous to gate ANY exotic armor in this game where 99% of it is available on a whim..

Please explain why I’m so bad for wanting to make a celestial set today but if I wanted a berserker set today I would not be such a terrible human… huh can you explain that for me?

And if you had been playing since launch, then you could have easily charged a load of crystals. Don’t blame A-Net… You could have done it 600 times…

How many days has went by has nothing to do with the unprecedented and unneeded time gate on simple exotic stats.

It was made so people could aquire it over time. the crystals to make the charged crystals were very cheap, and still are.

I also do not understand why everybody wants his stuff yesterday.

And for the ascended version you’ll need the same inscription/insignias as for exotic, so the timegate is the same. I vaguely remember an exact thread about this being up yesterday….

If you wanted it so bad:

It was introduced about 600 days ago, so you could have fused 600 Charged Quartz Crystals by now, enough for 20 armors…. Why didn’t you start then. I have a full celestial armor on my ele, It’s was way more powerfull back in the days, before the ferocity patch… Most armor pieces had 2 or 3 % crit dmg but celestail had more up to 5% now it has 70% of the ferocitty of a zerk set, 70% of the precision and 52% of the power, of course it does come with all the other stats, having more stat points then any other piece, allowing you to be very versatile but weak in all fields….

I didn’t complain about the price it is irrelevant.

I want my stuff today because I’ve played this game since release on all classes and races and I just want to do another build.. When I’m just using exotic armor like any of my other builds I can just craft or buy what I wanna play around with..

Why should I have to wait 30 days doing some boring task like channeling a skillpoint. Just to have gear on the same level as every other gear I ever want that I can get when I want it…

And all your crap about the stats well that just reinforces my point that you shouldnt time gate people out of being on level playing grounds for no reason.

Why do we have this in the game? I don’t understand why I have to wait 30 days of gametime to be able to make my exotic armor , just because of the stat combo?

Whats so special about Celestial stats that I have to wait over a month(cant play every day) to have it on my exotic armor when I can just craft or buy any other stat in 1 day.

Anet please consider removing this gate.

To add to the ridiculousness of the situation, please consider that the time gate for this STAT COMBO is longer then the time gate for ASCENDED armors.. What the heck…

I don’t know about having no timer, but I agree that match was definitely cut too short. It was like it ended right at the start of the climax. I like the idea of adding time for some action. Or something like as long as lord is in combat the game wont end.

Having fun in a video game is never pointless, it’s the ENTIRE point of playing….

You removing the part that ties it together making it sound nonsensical. Fun can be any thing for a lot of ppl and vary as much as any thing. Even trolling in /t or /m is “fun” for some ppl in wvw but that dose not mean wvw is about trolling ppl in /t or /m lol.

You said that open field fighting is fun (I agree), but that it was pointless, that is what I wanted to respond to, so that is what I quoted.

This part ties with the first part that I wasn’t responding to so I also removed it. But I’ll add now that anet did add in the ability to gain world score by stomping so it seems to me that it would also be plenty viable. A tower is how many points a tick? How many stomps could potentially happen in a tick time? I think it’s pretty underrated.

Understanding mesmers and Illusions+Phantoms

It is intentional. Think of them as fire and forget spells you cast on your target rather than persistent doppelgangers, with the added bonus that you can dispel them for desired effects (the F1-F4 skills) before your target dies. I often note my target is about to die while in a crowd and pop F1 or F2 because the effect hits all the foes in range of it. Or so I assume from the swarm of damage numbers I see, anyway, I’m not anything like an expert on this. Then I build them up again on the next target; if a higher health mob is available, eg a veteran, I use that one so they’ll stick around longer.

Also once you have traits unlocked you’ll be able to add effects to the clones and phantasms that trigger when they are killed. Might also work when they self-shatter after a foe dies? I’m not sure on that.

Yeah, i could see where its balanced for pvp, but in pve it sucks lol. Especially with mesmers having a harder time soloing pve at first. Im almost 35, so then i cna just spam dungeons to 80 thankfully

Is longbow #3 even viable?

LB#4 and LB#3 are completely different things. LB#3 should be an utility skill and does not work like that.

The correct way for this skill to work is: if you attack AFTER the LB#3 is being used you loose your stealth. Not because a trap is triggered or you piercing arrow hit twice.
Also the pet does not follow you when in stealth if the pet is not hidden. Ever.

Then the skill would work as intended. Until that is just another broken and useless skill in our bar together with sw#1 and axe#5. (That I can thin of now)

Really because I have to land SB 3 to get my swift I don’t remember anyone calling that broken.

And as far as your dream world every other class who uses stealths will get revealed by attacks already out as well.. Such as a Mesmer staff auto which is already airborne before the stealth being a common insta-reveal.

“Play how I want” is just some entitled community drivel that’s chanted to justify, “I don’t like this, change it because [reasons].” This is a game, and by the definition of “playing the game” you are playing by (and therefore confined to) the rules set forth by this game.

Play the game, or don’t; but you don’t make the rules unless you make the game.

Actually “Play how I want” was a main selling point for GW2 and did not just come from thin air, it is a Dev quote- look it up.

Win the 1v1’s without the crate and I might be somewhat impressed (not much since your basically using the best class for the situation).

But you really didn’t get anywhere close to killing either, without the crate. Winning a 1v1 with that elite is not something to be proud of or write home about in my opinion.

Permanent vigor isn’t the problem.

The problem is feline grace bypassing the 100% endurance regen rate cap. Everyone else gets just vigor. Thieves with 6 acro/trickery can get ~50% more dodges (from feline grace reducing dodge “cost” by ~35%) on top of vigor, plus withdraw on top of that. Personally I’d change feline grace to “endurance regenerates 50% faster” so it doesn’t stack with vigor.

Ranger, Elementalist, Engineer all have passive traits for quicker endurance regen on top of Vigor.

Earlier today I left a match early because my family was about to head to the store

So what you are saying is you queued into a match that 9 other players are bound to stay in once they enter, knowing you would end up leaving early and screwing over the other players.

I think the debuff should be longer – Maybe you will think about how you made other players have a bad time by thinking only about yourself, while you are stuck to hotjoins with other scr7bs for 72h.

If your overwhelmed a good general rule, is the flashier the animation the more its gonna hurt. I have no idea for the most part the skill names, but I know what they look like

Not all painful skills have flashy animations, unless you meant flashy as in style then the twirling strike from eviscerate is the winner!

Which reminds me, I’m seeing a lot of people just full on sitting under dragon’s tooth. Are people just unaware of the big molten dripping tooth above them or are they unaware of what it does yet? So many people just drop from it, it’s kind of funny.

Yah I was playing s/d the other day and was completely shocked how many ppl got blown up with Dragon Tooth/Phoenix combos..

I believe that’s due to the fact that steal was considered a bundle earlier in the game. This was changed later but the trait remained same.

Yeah I did test just to be sure and it in fact doesn’t raise damage. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised considering last refuge..

D/D. People usually fall off their chair, and say “no…no… no no! ~scream~” when they see this build, but it currently is among the best ways to make D/D work, SB is more or less the mainset though and pumps out high dmg in team fights, I’ve been using it a lot myself and I adore the high damage I can cause with D/D when I need to spike someone.

This is what I normally run with s/d-d/p. If you want to see potentially huge backstabs you run this.. But you should take improvisation not dagger training, don’t know why everyone always overlooks this amazing trait.

because rng doesnt fit well with how the thief plays, you need to reliable stuff. is reason why most dont take impro.

10% more damage instead of 5% is quite reliable if you ask me. When are you trying to burst that isn’t coupled with a steal, or while carrying a package? Not that often. Moreover the 10% goes with all weapons. And as a wonderful bonus I can’t count how many times one of the CD resets won me a losing fight.

Well they do crap kitten dmg if you aren’t stacking might for them to steal. So a Thief with a non-handholding-crutch build that actually does damage will counter it if you know how to time your burst right after evades..

I usually feel better about my team when it looks like they have put effort and time into the toon they are on. Though from experience the stereotype fails either way.

Myself all my 8 toons are decked out in nice looking gear sets.. Skins (and dyes) are a big deal to me and almost all my PvP gold goes towards that. No legendaries though because I’ve never cared for PVE.

Not only this but mug can hit (do damage + other steal traits like poison/weakness) through obstacles that you can’t even teleport through. For example, I was in the keep in the circle and someone was up top but behind the obstructions in the middle part, and I was able to land a killing blow with mug while still being down in the circle.

all another classes can use stability for stomping. And you forgot mesmer’s F4 skill and portal-stomping trick , so you add mesmer to your list of OP cheater professions!!!
P.S. War can use stability+endure pain – another cheater! Now I will ask all people at sPvP match don’t use stability because I can not interrupt them and it’s mean they are unfair people

Boons can be ripped.. there is nothing you can do vs mist form

I newer saw situation where someone was in stomping with stability and in these 3 sec his stability was ripped and after he was interrupted. Look likes fairy tale

Note the host is taking commission and is making a killing off of these duels.

Pay 10% to the host to play against the most cancerous builds ever theorycrafted…

I will not and never will.

He is also going through a lot of effort to organize it and keep it running smoothly. Just receiving/sending out the gold mails is enough of a hassle to deserve that 10%.

Also, like already mentioned – If you don’t want to duel “cancer builds”, then don’t. You go /m “lfd no pu no lich no w/e” someone accepts and you fight them with those terms + any they may have had for you to agree to.

The only people who post these builds and “promote” them are #1 attention seekers or #2 people seeking Youtube views.

Obviously you didn’t impress anyone, so nobody thinks of you when they consider the build.

Except that, unlike you, I have evidence to show that I used the build before anybody else claiming to do so. Even if I wasn’t the first to play it, I still was the first to do a lot of things for the build, which neither you nor anybody else can claim. I also think it’s extremely funny that, after writing about this build for well over a year, you have never once made a comment stating that you played 2 0 0 6 6 / 10 0 0 30 30 until now, of all times.

I hope you have something to back up your tasteless insults.

For all you know, Sizer got this build directly from me (with a few adjustments). Who are you to say that nobody was impressed? And either way, the point of this post was not to determine who was and was not impressed by my build, but to establish my ownership of the build.

Obviously, the guy who just responded to my post seems to give a kitten.

You never seen me comment on it because I don’t go around seeking attention. I also don’t visit many “build” threads on the forum because I’d rather make up my own kitten and play it my way.

The real funny part, is your build is not even the same build. You claim its only decided by trait point allocations but that is ridiculous. Your build does not have several of the major staples that make it even a good build. Namely, Sleight of Hand and Pain Response, not to mention Signet of Agility which is pretty important to it as well. On top of that your rune and sigil choices are outdated and bad.

What exactly are you after with this topic? You want people to say “Arganthium’s build” instead of “Sizers build”… —--Seeking attention only, like I said.

Well I would take agility because that build is lower on damage and part of that is due to the lesser crit chance. Besides that the active is very nice.

Aside from that, I wouldn’t want to run 2-0-0-6-6 as a roamer, because of that lower damage output.

On topic- Funnily enough in contrast to most thieves, I confidentially approach any Necromancer.. I played one for a long time and I just know it’s weaknesses all too well so it makes an easy fight for me usually.

Every decent Player can be good in 1vs1 with every clas thats not based on the ranger profession itself.

Good Mobility,

Hell no, maybe if he uses hunters signet but we have no blink or others stuff.

Good Surviveability,

Based on 1vs1 skill, but we have no block or other stuff like mesmer F4.

Good at Laming people with his pet.

Maybe when using hunters signet otherwise the pet is to slow for doing great dmg or how u said to lame someone.

Good Condi application
Good DPS

in 1vs1 yes but we have no srs AoE

  • Agree (even Rangers)
  • Rangers have leaps and easy access to swiftness, also easy access to 25% passive speed.
  • Rangers do have block, also super access to regen, and possibly best access to protection of any class. They also come with supreme access to evades and condition removal. Not to mention the invuln options. There are lots of options for survivability for the ranger.
  • I think the pets do pretty good, I don’t know about “laming someone” though.

I’m not saying the Ranger is perfect or even in a good spot just countering some of your exaggerating.

Just give me checkbox options to queue for. On the arenas screen put an options button… Within those options list the maps.. I can put a checkmark for the ones I like, not for the ones I don’t. The system doesn’t match me in game with maps I don’t like.

Ive never played as a thief in Spvp, but i dont think Ele should be a problem for any spec. They are very boon dependent, if you can take it out and watch the water atunement, you shouldnt have problems. For me, eles are the easiest class to defeat.

You must be talking about ele pre 15th April patch coz ele is a different beast now.

They are more difficult now yes but the tactics to beating them remain the same.

Weakness on lich = gg

Weakness is golden on lich, but make sure you can apply it AFTER he uses the condi clear/boon rip skill (#5 if i remember).

The only thing i don’t like about BF is the damage. ~800 per tick is quite low considering that i take about half of that back as retal.

I’m mostly using the skill defensively since the standard #3->#3->#2 is easy to avoid anyway but even than i think it gets vastly outshined by Warrior’s whirlwind attack which does more damage realiably, moves and is on a shorter cd. The only thing speaking for BF is the longer evade which makes the skill quite defensive.

It’s easy to avoid if the Mesmer is predictable. Just because you sent your clone out doesn’t mean you will swap to it right away, or even at all..

You can mix it up with other things too.. For example- ppl ressing someone? You can precast BF and blink on top of them..

Well on ele (with 6 in boon duration line and strength runes), battle sigils give an average of 10.5 stacks of might (which corresponds to +367.5 power and condi damage) in a way that is very reliable (due to constant swaps). If they reduce the might duration from strength, maybe battle should stay (but probably not). I would like to see 2 stacks personally (I don’t like long CD’s personally, especially given the weapon-swap time.

And to preemptively address those pointing out that sigils of strength can give a ton of might and people will just use that if battle is worse:
1. Sigil of strength requires CRITS – meaning you have to build for precision to make best use of them. That means making sacrifices in your build (a good thing).
2. If you proc strength sigil every 0.5s after the CD, you will get ~12 stacks of might, but that number will decrease drastically due to blinds/stuns/evades/blocks/weakness, which puts some counterplay in your opponent’s hands (an excellent thing!).

Sigil of Strength I think is quite balanced, the might has a 10s duration and like you said depends on crits with also a 1s icd.

-edit.. I’m confusing myself and saying the wrong thing. With 1 on each set, without str runes or any duration you can maintain 6 stacks. With str runes, it becomes 9 just by weapon swapping on 10s cd.

-2nd edit jus did some minimal testing.. With str rune/sigil-battle sigil, staff and s/p with 47% crit chance. Just autoattacking and swaping on CD on a golem I can maintain 12-16 stacks depending on crits. If I pull out some staff clones it becomes ridiculously easy to hit 25 might.

I think remove the chance to grant might from the #4 bonus. And also adjust Sigil of Battle to be more in line with other sigils such as Sigil of Rage with a longer cooldown, 20 or 30s.

I agree with the first point, but not the second point as you suggested. Quickness is a MUCH more powerful effect than 3 stacks of might. However, I do think Battle should be 2 stacks of might or have a shorter base duration (10s for instance), and strength could drop that extra might on-hit.

It actually works out to 6 permanent stacks with the 20s duration(base) and 10s cd (if you rock one on both sets / why wouldnt you). Maybe instead reduce the duration.
