After just advancing into the emerald division after 20-something long games of getting through Amber division, I lost a game because we had a teammate refuse to play. He stayed at home and did nothing. He did not d/c or leave, but he sometimes left home and died while autoattacking the enemy player taking the point. I wouldn’t be too annoyed at this loss if I didn’t lose a pip.

The game is rewarding players who deliberately toss games by making future games easier. When a player comes in with the intent to lose what are the rest of us supposed to do. His loss becomes all of our losses.

Deliberately throwing games is not something that we are OK with, and we should have something in-place in the near future to discourage this activity. I would look for enforcement against this negative behavior to start sometime early next week and may be retroactive since the start of the season.

I can’t really comment on system changes, as that is outside of my realm, however I do know that it’s actively being worked.

There’s the ruthless Anet I remember liking. Happy to see confirmation you aren’t going to tolerate this crap.

Don’t speak so soon, it will probably be as much as a failure as matchmaking and this whole ESL favoured league system.

Anet has a long history of being very heavy handed vs exploiters.

I remember afkers and 4v5’s a plenty. That’s why there was endless miles of QQ on the forum which eventually led to its removal. This was during some event I don’t remember what, but I was a wvw’er before then and only in spvp for w/e it was..

I found valk(mix in knights but not so much you lose a lot of power) to be best for pve personally.

I did successful cleric builds in wvw and pvp though. But I prefer the settler to it, which I posted here latley.

Possible bug in pvp

It’s an old bug with quickness stomps.. You have to wait out the entire animation even though the stomp is finished with (the ending laggy seeming part). It doesn’t always happen and after some time you get used to spotting when it’s going to.

I seem to remember it having something to do with not having quickness for the full duration of the stomp.

We already have a 2 hander ranged weapon.. Not really a fan of slow range weapons, which is why I would love a 1 hander as generally they come with a quicker playstyle.

granted your resistance is not stripped.

You just reapply it and/or strip it if it was boon steal. That’s not a Mallyx counter as Resistance boon is basically spammed and you have a counter if the opponent (another Mallyx Rev) spams it themselves.

Hard to spam it with energy costs going from 20 – 35(Heal isn’t spammable and Elite isn’t worth spamming just because of the cast time).

Durability runes and Demonic Defiance help maintain it, but they’re just supplements.

I didn’t say spam. I said reapply. That means energy cost will impact the “counter” counter play .. heh

Boon steal should be a counter but for Rev, it’s much much less of an issue compared to say a Stab steal on another class.

Another class like say Ranger who can be pulsing it and reapply immediately? Or maybe like from a Mesmer who can be applying stability with each shatter?

If a Rev is using pain absorbtion(lol) to stack a long duration res then it is worth stripping, especially for someone like a thief who can then have it for himself. And if he is smarter and using a combat flow with Unyielding Anquish to apply it every few seconds, well then there are ways to force a swap out of Mallyx.

The elite has too high of a cost for my tastes and usually I only pop it shortly before I plan to hero swap.

The more people figure out that lowering your MMR early is the best way to get pips the more you’ll have teammates not caring as Ambers.

Fundamentally what is wrong with this game. The players.

Personally I want my MMR accurate not kittening artificially low. I want to have good matches, have a good time, learn from my playtime etc. What I don’t give two kittens about is “pips”.

Too bad players like me mostly left the game long ago. Nothing left but “karma train” in wvw and “glory(oldschool term yes) farm” in pvp.

No, no, no, no…. Fundamentally it’s not the players. It’s the responsibility of the game developers to make sure the design is sound and not exploitable. People will resort to the most dirty means possible to win at anything in this life if the rewards outweigh the risk. This is basic human behavior. It’s true in any competitive sports. Those who manage the game are solely responsible for the problems in GW2 sPvP.

I take the high road. I’m not going to engage in an exploit, but for those who do I’m not shocked. Just like I’m not shocked to learn when pro athletes use substances or do other inappropriate things to gain a win. If you think there is this magical world where everyone has virtue and integrity and just wants what’s best for everyone you are living in a dream and need the veil stripped away. We would all love to live there, but it’s not realistic.

Given that it’s not realistic it’s up to the enforcing powers that be (ArenaNet in this case) to take appropriate action and manage their product. Again the game studio must be held solely responsible for allowing exploitable behavior in the first place.

I guess you are right, and I am so glad I didn’t pay 50$ for this. Though I feel really bad for my friend who had randomly gifted me HOT.

I’ve been asked to share the build I’ve been using for stronghold.. I’m sure it could have merit in conquest but meh I’m really just a wvw player and don’t like conquest..

Anyways after playing around with classic nuke hammer or condi rev.. I experimented a ton, and came up with this build which I have been having an immense amount of fun playing stronghold with.

The rune is basically optional I’ve ran a lot of different ones with this nothing stands out as a must have for the build to work.

You are most effective in this mode/build as a solo defender vs multiple enemies. You will be able to out-sustain 1vX vs meta builds. You can handle condi bomb classes such as necro though you need to play the build well for it. You will utterly laugh at meditrapper DH as you shrug off their “op” damage and easily outlive their CD’s..

Naw I doubt it would take 100 games for anyone to eventually be carried through 15 wins or even less when receiving extra pips for a win.

it was an example, that skill are required, even more in div 2, and 3 you need skill to progress.

I know what it was, my point was your example as stated was a fail. Because you cannot fail to progress past div 1.. Higher, then sure you could be stuck in div2 forever for example.

It is true that the base is the same; Since our MMR+ some other datas control the match making.

but it is nothing about Grind.
This feeling Grind: is just because you want to achiev something and you force yourself to play maybe in overdose, because you feel oppressed by the time.

Play your pvp, have your fun as always.

About the Legendary, we are still talking about Legendary. Those are things that are not easy to get.
Nobody want to see everybody with legendaries, as it if were common items.

Being in one tier or another is nothing but a status of how much you’ve played, because you can still be placed with lower tiers.

Going up and down the tiers is only a result of lucky matchmaking.

not true: You can play 1000 matches and still be in Div 1 since you lack the skill.

And about what you call luck :
i could not find it but there is a Video that shows that luck is just a long term skill statistic.

Sure is a funny coincidence when I wvw with nuke hammer rev I’m picking out the enemy groups of revs and dropping them while avoiding them.. Rarely do I get caught with hammer nuke, not so hard…

I’ll agree that the ‘journey’ the collections were supposed to give are largely non-existent, but that doesn’t mean it should be easy to get a precursor.

lol if you think that’s the huge mace bug, what do you call the fact that “Venom Enhancement” does NOT stack poison when you add torment like the skill says… its a HUGE part of condi build but does not work.

This trait works just tested it, it just has a 20 sec cd.

Trade your only defense against condis for a kitten doom sigil.. Seems legit

I don’t really understand the complaints. I, honestly, think there is yet more work needed on the visual clutter side of things in combat. I’m tired of seeing nothing but skill effects when I need to be able to see enemy attack animations.

Except the fact that for a good number of skills, the effects is the attack animation, and thus removing the effects is basically removing the ability to see any attack.

In PvE the ability to see other players’ skill effects, ground fields being the exception, is completely unnecessary. I would be happy if we had a graphics option that would allow us to disable non-ground field effects from other players. Let the players choose what they want to, and don’t want to, be able to see.

Yeah I also like to know if I’m going to be stunned, chilled or reflected when I attack an enemy..

And you really expect to be able to see much on a giant mob with everything magnified and 100 ppl casting crap on it?

Magnified? I’m zoomed in slightly because I’m TRYING to see the enemy model and attack animations. I see just as little zoomed out.

And yes, I should be able to see the enemy even with 100 people attacking it. That’s the point of the changes that have been made to the graphical clutter. Unfortunately, not enough has been done. See my above point for my personal opinion on how it should be handled.

Well like someone already mentioned the spell effects are magnified in size comparable to the enemy…

That picture has so much blanked out, I can’t tell what’s so funny about it. And where is the Emissary of the Mad King on that picture?

Well I blacked out the random persons name because well, yeah. The icon is attached to the title not the name, even though it is beside the name.

So what you get is, most players it looks attached to the end of the name. But someone with a short name + long title, it has a wide gap between name and icon because, whelp actually attached to end of title.

Soulbound Chests of the Mists

90% of the game has been converted to account bound. But for some reason, only WvW players need everything soulbound (the ones with many alts who NEED accnt bound stuff)..

I have useless WvW rank points stacking up being worthless since I’m maxed.. Now more items in my inventory that can stack and be useless yay.

Why don’t you add a few more things for me to click too because having to click through 3 chains of items from every chest I get isn’t enough fun.

How do you deal with dardevil ?

First, you’re going to feel some heat, because the community generally considers Thieves to be in a bad place in the immediate meta, so a large swath of folks will hide behind that fact and never try to get better or find something that works. They’ll use the competitive ESL tournament results as a reason for why they can’t play their class in an Unranked Queue successfully. Best to ignore them.

Second, many of the Thief/Daredevil abilities that evade have windows of opportunity where they aren’t evading, but the animation is still going. For example, the Shortbow evade had a window near the end where you can hit the Thief. If you’re a Ranger, use whatever instants you have, or get a feel for the rhythm of the evasion spam and time an ability to land during the predicted window.

Also, be sure to dodge any Vaults that look like they are going to land (the leap-slam ability). It doesn’t necessarily always land, but the Daredevil can’t spam it too often, because it costs a lot of initiative. I’m not sure what the window is for Vault, but play around with it.

Your best friend is the spam’s predictability. They have ingrained the muscle memory to spam evasions, so that’s what they are going to do. They often won’t know how to not do it, and they aren’t using their abilities to specifically evade yours, so you have that going for you. Just practice up against it and you’ll probably find your windows in time.

And don’t worry about losing/dying. It could be that evasion spam is really good against your build in a 1v1, and that’s OK. It doesn’t necessarily mean it is OP, just strong against your build.

The window for vault is as they are landing. For example if you vault on top of an engi lightning field you will get stunned the instant you land.

I agree with OP, they need to fix Rev.
Hopefully they will nerf it next patch because right now its too strong.
Increasing some of the energy cost on weapons skills might be a good idea.

FYI OP isn’t saying nerf, he’s getting rolled over while on Rev…He’s saying condi reks him. And yeah, i agree Rev is quite weak against condi burst in pvp. In wvw at least you can use food & cleansing sigils which aren’t in pvp. But I don’t see many people using pure condi builds in pvp. I use purity & generosity sigils with Hoelbrak and Jalis over Shiro just in case though. I’d rather not use Jalis tbh, but I don’t like being completely hard countered if I can help it. IMO Rev should be weak against something, and in it’s form now(except for all the bugs), it’s great in all other areas. Maybe some more stub break options could be in order. I feel naked compared to the 3(+1 at 50% health) I usually run with Reaper.

I hear ya. But i think its pretty balanced that Herald has few options to condi clear. It replaces theif with mobility and has amazing damage and utility with boonshare n stuff. So having a weakness is OK. (Imaging if we had a decent condiclear, omg the qq on the forum would be insane).

The Rev condi builds (malyx/something) is alot better at condi control with resistance and heal being strong vs condis.

Will be intresting to se what Anet nerfs to balance it out, i still think the best approach should be at looking at some of the energycosts of the skills (utils/weps)

Weaknesses are fine. Complete helplessness vs one of the main damage sources in this game, yeah not so much.

So a skill which “clearly” scales to much with power/berserker stats is balanced just because it hits like a wet noodle when running something more tankyish.

Why not change the scaling and buff the standard damage a bit?

I was talking about the traits. FYI you can do the big hits in tanky gear.

No thank you. I like to personalize my builds and I don’t feel like I’m using a build that’s my own and built specifically to my needs when I’m forced to choose from just one stat like we are in PvP.

Yes, I can choose different traits, utilities, etc. etc. and yes of course even in WvW I’m sure there are people with identical builds but I enjoy the diversity that WvW allows. A couple stats here and a couple there might not make a huge difference but it makes it feel like it’s my own creation and that’s important to me as I’m sure it is to many other players. Especially once you become familiar enough with the game, speaking from a PvP perspective to clarify, you’ll end up making builds that are extremely common (meta) without realizing it because of the reduced diversity. And I don’t want to be limited in WvW, creating builds that everyone else already uses because I can’t put a little “me” in it.

I suppose it all comes down to a special snowflake thing but you know what? I think customization is extremely important and the more of it a game allows the better.

I’m ok with everyone being standardized to pvp style stats so long as it is broken into smaller pieces not just crammed into one amulet. Must have build diversity or I am outtie 5000…

Uh… I don’t think a T1 server needs more players. I don’t care if you have less than what you used to have, you still have more WvWers than most other servers. How about spread people out instead of bandwagoning them all on to one server? Makes for more interesting match ups because it’s not constantly one sided…

For those that are considering transferring, think about moving to a tier other than T1. The other servers may not have 24/7 coverage but they aren’t total ghost towns either, other than T7 – T8, although even those tiers still have a bit of activity.

kitten are roughly the same but T2 is pretty one sided since TC is effectively T1.5

Avoid bandwagoning too heavily on to one server or it makes for incredibly boring match ups.

Yeah well up until Sunday t1 was dead in wvw. I came from Mag (also vacationed on DH recently) to yaks a week or so ago and it was just as dead in t1 as anywhere else. Since the servers opened up wvw picked up a lot , once again fun.

I think you are wrong because there is not enough players to fill all the servers. So really the people like you stuck in low tier dead servers should be moving and filling up the top 3 tiers at least.

I think part of the problem is that lots of pub players use condi builds, which rev is stupidly weak to unless you kitten yourself with Mallyx. Most of the ESL groups don’t use condi much at all because there are too many counters as a whole. So ESL players can kitten out revs all over the place, but as a pub player you run into all the condi classes which just DoT you down. Quite quickly in the case of any of the major burners.

Stil Mallyx even only deals with it for so long, and never removes any condis so as soon as that res drops with 20k dps of condis on you, gnight.. God forbid you need to swap out of it to deal with other things..

A-net can i please have my meteorshower hit with 10 k on each meteor. I mean it is my aoe skill that i have to stand still to cast, so why should it hit less then something that a Revenant just casually spam inside of a zerg. Today on my Revenant in side of wvw, my hammer two critted one poor guy with 14 k. And the rest hit with 6-7 k. People are falling like flies in zergs. In the end i switched to my ele because i actually felt like i was abusing a bug, Especially since i can hit people on the other side of a wall.

And person that said yeah but it cost energy and have cd. Yeah it have a 2 sec cd and by then the energy you used are back to full. 2 sec is practically no cd.

Yeah if you are running around in a zerg like a little zergling running no upkeep just spamming 2.. I GUESS I can see where you come up with your point of view.. Try leaving the safety of your blob and see how awesome that hammer works for ya.
