Roaming does not = running around empty maps in a circle capping uncontested camps and once in awhile 2 man ninja a tower because there is noone to fight.
Roaming is plenty alive on high pop servers, it’s actually back to real roaming with real risks.
Again: In GW2 WvW, the sort of feelings and behavior shown in these threads is more appropriately attached to guilds, not worlds. Even in WvW. Especially in WvW. The facts are in the design, and those facts existed before this week’s patch.
Going to disagree with you Pants.
You can have a cohesive group of people who are entrenched in a server because it’s been built as a community. That community weathers and withstands assaults from bandwagoners, trolls, etc. It’s a neighbourhood where everyone knows your name and you can log in, no matter what time, and you know each other.
You can also reasonably rely on each other to do X duties each day, because you know these people from time playing together. You come from different guilds and different countries, yet you all work together towards that team goal.
There’s value in that, and it’s the key reason why WvW kept chugging along for so many years.
It wasn’t because of the guilds.
If you ask these people if they’re attached to guild or server, they’re repeatedly saying server. Perhaps you just don’t want to hear that, or maybe you’ve not experienced it yourself?
To add to the context of this thread: Anet consider leaving server tag names on each person. I think that would do a lot to alleviate the feeling of loss. It won’t be that confusing, considering red = enemy still exists no matter naming conventions.
I don’t see the problem with merging communities and meeting new people and having MORE people who know your name when you log in.
Just dumbfounded by these complaints. Still in the same guild I’ve always been in, still around all the pugs I know I can count on or not, still hear back from the same people as always in /map. Only NOW I have MORE people to meet and befriend.
As to being more attached to server then guild, that is just ridiculous. Most guilds move from server to server together.

+1 to this thanks for bringing our mode back Anet.
They should dynamically open additional BLs only during population spikes (like reset, or any time queues start building up on every BL).
As people log off and the queues go away, they should then close those extra maps and redirect people back to the four constant ones.
It could just be a random desert or alpine instance, or maybe something smaller designed specifically for this purpose. It should provide some benefit, score or otherwise, while it’s open. It would be better than going to EotM, at least, as you’d still be contributing while waiting in queue.
I would be all for an idea like this.. Have a threshold of a certain amount of queue on every map before a new one is introduced, and then have them merged back together once it goes down just the same as overflows work in pve.
Check your options and untick the one that says something like ‘autoloot on action’..
There is already an official thread for feedback. So why do you need to spam your “feedback” in multiple topics across the forum? What makes your opinion so special that it not only doesn’t belong in the official feedback thread with everyone elses, but also deserves multiple topics?
Do you think making more topics will make you look like more then 1 upset person or something?
Zetsumei.4975 2 to 3 people on a map is not Wvw <— depend on the hour
not everyone stay up at 3 or 4 am in the morning to play gw2
some ppl work , not everyone can play 10 hours a day , i wish i don’t have a job and can play 10 hours a day and not worry about bills
Some people have a job where the free time is not during primetime. I’m sure some of those people now enjoy having people to play with rather then pvdooring empty maps.
yes i play in pt , that is my hour
what can i do quit my job and play 10 hours a day ?
Well all I can request is to have a little patience. To many of us this is nothing new, even in the low tiers(I can’t reiterate this enough as someone who spent a large amount of time in t8,t7 and t5 while also having lots of exp playing t1-3 AS a roamer).
By the time this weekend is over the queues will die out by a lot , we may still have them but not this bad.
My other advice is to give the borderlands a chance, they are much easier to get in to. Back in the day we only played in EBG when it was late at night and all the maps were dead.. It was widely referred to as “pug map” and considered laggy and low skilled.
Just saying you are trying to fix a temporary non-issue. From my experience seeing the wvw in this game since the day it was public, these queues WILL go away. GW2 players are fair weather and hype driven.. This is not the first time even t8 experienced queues like this, and it WILL die down, I promise you.
dank.3680
because there was nobody left playing wvw.
???? nobody mean 0
i don’t believe it , i had a guildmate who is in t8 server and they even have 2 or 3 people NOT nobody , so your nobody meaning , everytime you log in , nobody but you on the map ? other one from the other serever , nobody right ? that is BS
i have NEVER seen a wvw map with NObody ,
again did you read this ?
Kanebrake.6192:. I waited for 2.5 hours and went from 146 down to 99ish before having to log out.
anyone good at mat ? 2.5 hour @ 146 down to 99 = ? How much longer do Kanebrake have to wait ? anyone got an answer ?
try waiting 2.5 hours then we can talk
i will be happy if i can get in in 30 min lol
Do you play only at primetime?? Yes I’ve spent countless hours as the ONLY person on a map or one of only a couple.
2 or 3 people does not a healthy wvw make..
qvqvq means all servers are on even grounds numbers wise, something we have been missing for a LONG LONG time.
Everyone keeps telling me wvw supposed to be 80v80v80 massive zerg fights and back in the old days the queues where normal on most servers so suck it up. Im sorry but i started playing wvw a year ago and you rarely queue 2 maps let alone 4. In HOD and Ebay queue we had at least 150+ people waiting. Its reset night i dont mind a 10 man queue but when half you guild group cant even got on the same map and then get wipe by 60+ people it really does take the fun out of play with your guild. We need t5 and t6 back in na just so its a bit more spread out. Only 12 servers is stuipd and the queues are just going to worse if more people stay and people join the game. Im sorry i dont want to wait in queue for 4 hours to play wvw on reset night
Yeah because a year ago WvW had already died.. We are talking about the way it was 2 and 3 years ago. You are youngblood sit back and learn.
Then the hype dyes down and we got back to a normal population and now have even more empty maps.
anyone who thank anet for this update , what if this happen to you ?
my guess is everyone that thank anet for this update got in wvw within an hour ?
so put urself in our shoe , wait 2 hours before you go in wvw
and let me know how happy you are ??
if you guy DID NOT wait 2 hours , why are you complaining about us complaining ?
i will even pay for you to transfer , so you can feel the 2 hours waiting time ?
Kanebrake.6192:. I waited for 2.5 hours and went from 146 down to 99ish before having to log out.
I’m happy because I ended up quitting a game I’ve loved more then every other game I ever played. And I quit because there was nobody left playing wvw.
So yeah seeing queues again makes me ECSTATIC.
BTW I entered the EBG queue right after reset and ended up in slot 81.. Then I MISSED my queue, and ended back at 80ish again. So instead I got myself in to a borderland which queues move a lot quicker then queued back up for ebg once I got into the bl.
As if this is the first time reset night after a new patch brought big queues.
Calm down it will settle, save your judgement after you see how the week long match goes.
You dont get it do you. This system is forcing to many people into gamemode that is not
designed to handle it, essentially forcing everyone into engaging in the same gamestyle
of zerging whereas before they could escape it for the most part by going to lower tiers.
The massive queues are keeping people out of wvw creating frustration not just for them
but for their guilds as well because they cannot get their members on a map.
I do get it, I’ve played this game as a WvW only “roamer” player since the first day we were allowed in open betas. I’ve been on every world and experienced every tier.. I was with NSP when they got stuck in t8 for ages with the same stale boring matchup everyone hated… I’ve been through it all in this game, I DO get it.
What YOU aren’t getting, is these queues aren’t a first. EVEN in the low tiers. What you aren’t realizing is that it will die down after the initial weekend.
And yeah I get it a small subset of people like being on dead servers that never have any action but, that’s not exactly healthy for the OVERALL game.
I don’t like zerging and never have. Even with max queues I had quite a lot of roaming action last night, so I can’t really accept that argument.
As if this is the first time reset night after a new patch brought big queues.
Calm down it will settle, save your judgement after you see how the week long match goes.
It’s reset for one, and I’d rather have queues then dead game.
GJ Anet, you brought me back.
They all show host server names. I was fighting against UW players today and they all had FSP tags now. I knew them only from their guild tags so, nothing will show which smaller server they from.
Thanks for answering, FogLeg. That’s exactly correct. The biggest motivator for showing only the “host” world in enemy nameplates was to help identify enemies quicker. With only two other world names showing up in a given week, it’s easier to quickly figure out which color team they belong to. Since world linking supports any number of “guest” worlds linked to a single host, it would potentially get pretty confusing to see a big zerg of nameplates with any number of world names, and figure out the composition of one team versus another.
As for not seeing an allied player’s guest (actual) world name anywhere, we wanted to be sure world linking wouldn’t create any avoidable friction between players. One of the major goals we have with GW2 is always making sure encounters with other players are positive experiences (my paraphrasing). So anything we could do to let guests blend in and only stand out if they felt like calling themselves out as such is likely to be a good thing toward that goal.
Plus, there actually just aren’t that many places in the UI where we show allied players’ world names, so this was an easy goal to keep for this side of things.Helping maintain guest world pride is a little tougher. We could show each player their world’s name in more areas of the UI, regardless of if they’re on a guest world or not, but this may cause communication issues, with some maps and areas of maps being named after worlds.
I’m open to hearing any feedback people have on little ways we could improve the feeling of world linking, while maintaining unambiguous communication for players and avoiding any negative “tribalism.”
This just seems to be an attempt to kill of the ‘guest worlds’ though by relegating them to a second class of sorts who aren’t important enough to even have their name appear on the scoreboard. Using the word ‘linking’ mad it seem like each server would be on an equal footing with the partner servers but this just seems like a merge, resulting in the destruction of the ‘guest’ server. Perhaps it’s just me but this doesn’t seem like what was being proposed.
I would guess they call it linking because its not a solid merge, it’s a dynamic merge which could be changed on the fly.
How do you feel overall about reward tracks?
Great, wish we had gotten them when spvp did.
What are your thoughts on the rate at which you gain participation?
Seems fine.
How do you feel about the rate you earn reward track points?
Feels half the speed of spvp or so, too slow. But if better rewards were available it would be fine.
Overall, what are your impressions about the types of reward tracks we have?
Generic ones I don’t really need. The skin is a good start, we really need WVW only tracks.
Are there any other reward tracks you would really like to see?
I would like to see WVW exclusive items. More exclusive skins, finishers, dyes, siege, high tier foods, and things like that.
Also I feel like raw gold earned from WvW is pathetic and needs to be higher to match other game modes.
Ok just got back from taking long break from the game to come back to the game hop into WvW only to find out that the Revenant is the new OP class, Insta healing to max in sec everytime you should drop them they need nerf bad longer CD or something.
Well if you don’t unload massive damage skills into “infuse light” then they wouldn’t be healing to max.
So far with this patch all I see is steps and even some leaps forward with no backwards. This is a FIRST for an Anet patch IMO and I am extremely impressed and now hope for the future has replaced the sadness that has been in my heart over this last 1-2 years.
Hell no do not delay it. I want to see WVW packed like on release years ago. This is my dream don’t kill it so soon!
So now a new player can join the game, use this boost and get instantly to level 80.
On top of that, it also gives you a complete set of soldiers armor, weapons, trinkets, food items, utility items, and unlocks certain waypoints in every level 80 map?
This is just… what?!
Don’t get me wrong, I like the new shared slot, but what’s the point of even playing the game if you’re instantly given everything you need? Doesn’t that just inherently defeat the purpose of playing the maps and lower-level content? Is Anet that desperate for new players? Please help me understand, because I’m so lost on this one.
Uh well they explained it pretty kitten clearly. It is not for “new players”. It is for “HOT purchasers”, and they explained the reason was so that those who purchased HOT could experience HOT without having to go through all of vanilla first.
You need to untick the option that says “autoloot on action” .
yea, noticed the few streamers i follow, like helseth doing more blade and soul too. Started b&s myself too, because unranked is awful.
Though kitten b&s requires me to level pve to play pvp, which is just as painful as gw2 unranked i guess.
Well it takes like 2-3 days maybe to lvl max, it’s not hard at all. You can pvp before that but you take the chance of being pitted against those with all skill unlocks. Though there are still lots of low lvls in arena to fight too especially since it gives you dailies for it early.
Personally I haven’t played since patch and only log on for a few mins to say hi to friends.
Yep pretty much sums up GW2 pvp. What a kittening joke this game has become my lord.
I just find it unfathomable that the same company that made this AMAZING combat system (basically the best action combat out of all MMOs, by far) and really innovative class concepts (ele is a rather avatar-y take on the typical mage, mesmer is really unique, guardian a unique take on the paladin archetype, etc.) fails so hilariously again and again at providing BASIC pvp needs like multiple builds per class, reasonable balancing (5 class changes per quarter year is unacceptable) or even just a basic league system.
Not to mention solo queue or even just the basic mechanic of actually being allowed to play the game while waiting for a tournament queue pop, instead of having to idle in some god forsaken place.
Best action combat out of all MMOs?? Let me guess you have not played blade and soul.
Haha blade & soul is kitten. Uninstalled already. People whine about passives in this game, but blade and soul combat is all about passives. Enemy doesn’t even block and still your skills get blocked because he have some kitten block kitten on. You can’t play games like that seriously.
Yeah that’s pretty much how old school mmo’s worked.. You have block/evade/resistance etc as a stat you can build toward(gear).
Been playing BnS last few days, actually quite fun. More fun then gw2 right now, should carry me till BDO..
Sadly gw2 just isn’t fun anymore.
Both ideas for the changes they have made came from the same ESL lapdog. I was against both as both just delete the skill. I guess they realized the first change was a fail and now trying this one, which is also fail.
Yeah I left my loved gamemode(and game I havent played in weeks now) that I nolifed for 3 years simply because I didn’t want to “try”.
What the kitten ever dude.
Or you could just actually pan around and pay the kitten attention……/
My 7 year old can play without looking.. Really this is a thing? It’s like not being able to use a TV remote….
Those of you blaming anet for hacks existing.
Please understand you cannot stop people from reversing the client and making hacks work. Every online game has this issue, you can only fight it you cannot win.
I used to code hacks for Vindictus back in the day, the lengths they went through to unsuccessfully keep my progs blocked was amusing but never worked.
How can you kill something which is already dead?
If they dont’ save this game next patch it’s already buried.
Players are just looking for ANYWHERE to go, it’s not so much that X game is GW2 killer, just X game is going to be taking GW2 refugees!
Hell I’ve even been back to playing BF4 which is a game I tired of long time ago.
Was the rev running jalis?
If there wasn’t a metabattle there would just be popular forum post builds and everyone would still be running the same kitten, like before metabattle got popular.
It’s already been mentioned but all you are suggesting is lowering the “trash” filter into an earlier division (causing people like you to get stuck in the kittenfest that is currently ruby, much earlier aka you would be stuck with kitten in emerald instead)
They should make the Guild Lord a Chronobunker so he never dies.
This exactly. That way it becomes a game of point holding and trying to hold points not cheap unearned recoveries.
Well if a lord kill wins the game, then the team was obviously accomplishing other goals as well. If the game was that close that a lord kill decided it, the question becomes why did the other team not grab a lord kill?
The best days were when you could laugh at meta c/p’ers and make your own build to destroy them.
Power builds are dead because of the abundance of “block block immune evade block invulnerable block chill block”.
You do realise most of the stuff you just listed also affects condi builds right?
Not the same since power builds generally rely on big hitters and cc chains where condi builds can just spam constantly and don’t really rely much on damage cooldowns.
hindsight 20/20
Obviously the comments section doesn’t need dumbed down any further..
Don’t worry he is ruby now his low mmr will catch up to him there. I was in the same boat wvw roamer for ever turned pvp player. I know my classes but I have little exp in ranked… I had a pretty smooth time on the way up but ruby is just a toxic kittenhole.
Hey it goes both ways. I’m not the best player on the planet but I will freely admit I afk’d the end of a few matches that were just hopeless after a frustrating day.
Usually I do my best and keep trying but thats getting harder and harder all the time.
Team sucks kitten . Game is lost. Score looks something like 400-50… An actual pvper gets frustrated with his pve team and afk’s for the remainder. kittenters start blaming afker for afking the already stupid kitten match…
I mean you want to report and get someone banned because they get frustrated with Anet’s kittenty kitten system. What kind of person do you think that makes you?
What doesn’t make sense to me, is rev’s only stability(besides an unviable legend) being tied to the same line that comes with anti-cc trait.
Even stranger than that is that Herald trait line has a trait that gives another stack of stability when you get one… when the ONLY way to get stability is from another trait line.
Or allies, or Jallis legend.
I made the comment when I felt Jalis was not viable. However I gave it some love and now like glint/jalis in a staff s/sh power build, spent quite a bit of time playing it. It does need a little bit of work to be actually *good though imo.
Yeah I’m not so good at explaining myself at first
All I really meant to say was to give people some slack because it’s not really their fault they see having a warrior as a loss. This whole system is super frustrating, it is what it is.
And I’m not saying something fine, they are everything but fine, I just saying 99% of loss is BS (because it is).
Once again, I don’t believe warrior is automatically 99% loss. I just said that’s how people are perceiving it right now.
Personally I never give up no matter what the situation looks like because I know there are all sorts of variables in random q’s such as the enemy team having pve players. Also when I see a Warrior on my team I never say anything negative to them, I just try to help them best I can.
However fact is, when you have decent players on each side, warrior is a drag on the team, period.
lol wtf a warrior on team is totaly not a 99% chance of a loss…
Warrior or Thief that knows to rotate points and not overcommit on battles > Player on “metabuild” that thinks he should win just because he copy/paste his build from a pro.
I didn’t mention thief but ok, thief is not in a terrible spot, not a good one but thief still brings kitten to the table and can be successful.. Warrior eh, yeah you can be successful vs bad players or bad comps.. Nice..
I also didn’t say it was a 99% loss now did I , I said thats how people perceive it. Maybe I should have said that part first to avoid kneejerk reactions from people that don’t fully read a post before they respond to it.
oh dank you are so good grz
Yeah ok nice comment. Never claimed to be better then anyone.. I do however refuse to throw games by playing my warrior. It is the only class I skipped doing the 5 win chiev on because it’s just that bad right now.
