As already mentioned, you can still use immobilizes on them. You can still aoe them. You can still melee them, Mesmers can use any of their skills on them basically lol.. As a thief, when in a group fight and someone starts using DS, I shadowstep to them, cnd, backstab.. Like easymodex said, its a big sign going KILL ME I’M NOT STEALTH OR DODGING.

Because a lot more people have gotten awareness and started using immobiles or melee, I use DS a lot different myself.. Most of the time it’s when I’m running from a zerg and I already created a small gap and I’m trying to mitigate ranged damage while I wait on CD’s or initiative. Other times its to help prevent someone I’ve downed from being ressed. Frankly I end up dodging out of DS early a lot of the time as I only use it for specific purposes and mostly its to buy time..

In the early stages of the game you used to be able to down zergs with it.. But anymore unless the group is full of complete noobs it won’t happen, and in that case I could have ran around spamming cluster bomb and killed them quicker.

Wrong, I just did it. As soon as the house(and the combo field circle) disappears you can run out of it.

(you will have 10 seconds stealthed to run around in)

It was 5 of us, picking off groups of a zerg, we were highly outnumbered I doubt we coulda just charged in and killed them..

Also, not everyone likes to run with huge mindless herds, some might even call THAT pathetic.

It’s not entirely useless.. A group of us thieves were doing this and getting 30 seconds of stealth stacked then going and ganking groups, retreat, repeat.

I think you should be able to upgrade to champion Doylaks AND Guards, on separate upgrades of course. Also being able to purchase some sort of auto turret like Dredge Turrets would be cool too.

Well I would say each server has 1 orb BECAUSE it’s such an even match not the other way around. That said, I also don’t care for the orb or it’s buffs.

Players completely invisible post-update (Oct 7)

Same, the smaller battles are fine, but after a certain amount of people it is bad, almost everyone is gone. I even ported back to my base, and the npc’s and everyone was still invisible. I had to log out and back in to see people again.

lol it’s not even small or large battles.. I was running to a supply camp and seen an enemy pet (not the enemy) so I start pressing my next enemy bind and got him targeted, I kill him without him firing a single shot so I’m pretty sure he never saw me too.. Then right after that when I got in the camp, I could see a green dot on the map.. So I say “i know you’re here but I can’t see you” and the ally says “lol same”…

That #2 has allowed me a rally plenty of times. More often then not I teleport in a desirable direction and more often then not they try to stomp my clone. I think it’s a pretty great #2 down skill.

If anyone should complain about down state, elementalist first.

Why No Mantra Builds?

My tooltip in game showes MOR at 2700 per use while feast is showing 5760+660. With these numbers (assuming 2 illusions and MOR untraited) it’s almost even.

Now with both at full power, 3 illusions, and 3rd cast on MOR. Mor is way higher hps.

Should be able to turn them off, not everyone has this feminist side wanting to see purple butterflies on their male characters. Don’t say you’re trolling, you’re trolling yourself saying that, we know how you are.

I’m so sorry that I’m comfortable enough with my sexuality and manliness to have a little fun with my very manly looking mesmer throwing pink butterflies around. This is a video game afterall, in case you’ve forgotten.

This comment coupled with the one you made below about being in love with your “hot” cluster of pixels leads me to believe that you are quite young, so I will just let your little stab at me go.

Zerg- Observe for a bit to find the biggest cluster of ranged shooters (they like to herd). Run up, drop Feedback, Mirror Blade, Berserker all in an instant… Zerg scatters like flies. Pick a target that you noticed take exceptional damage from the combo(there is always a few, and remember usually they are crippled from the zerk), Magic Bullet, Duelist, Illusionary Leap, Blurred Frenzy. F-4 While stomping, blink back to friendlies, rinse, repeat.

Single target- This is by class, but you just wait till they start a big attack and drop it on them then and ALWAYS follow up with Mirror Blade and Berserker, this is a huge burst and you can do it almost instantly. A few examples is you see a Longbow Ranger start a Rapid Fire, you see a Warrior charging up a KillShot(especially funny one), you see a Shortbow Ranger pop Quickening Zephyr.. Plenty more examples could be made but those are the most extreme.

Feedback is definitely in my Top 3 for favorite Mesmer skills and one of the very most useful IMO.

Oh I forgot to mention, if you use a staff drop a Chaos Storm right when you drop the feedback OR wait till they flee from it and drop it on them then.

Well I hate being slow so much I actually went with a set of Centaur runes… I play WvW so being able to be swifted a lot is important to me. With a little extra boon duration I end up with a 13.5 second swift everytime I cast a heal on a 15 second CD. This has finally allowed me to drop the focus and go with an offhand I actually like (pistol). Even when I know I need the better heal so I go with the 20 second CD, I still have a lot less downtime on swift then with the focus. If you keep the focus, you end up with more then 100% uptime using either heal as long as you make sure to use the focus swift THEN the heal swift because the focus swift is bugged and doesn’t stack on other swifts properly, but other swifts will stack on it.

Anti thief build

I had problems with thieves for awhile. But in WvW most thieves rely on specific combos to take you out quick.. It’s usually quite easy to throw them off their game which is all you need to do.

For example, in one situation. As soon as they jump on me I will immediately blink away, usually when they first get on you they are going to spam some huge abilities as fast as possible, when you blink away a lot of times they will stand there and waste some initiative.. Next you have to predict the next move, some will steal to gain back the ground and others will stealth and move in on you. In either case stealthing yourself at the correct time with decoy will really throw them off their game again and you usually find them dumping some huge abilities on your decoy clone. This is the time to go full offensive and throw everything you have at them, they are quite squishy and are usually running away or dying within seconds at this point.

I think we are versatile enough you can go with w/e you like. I am personally sacrificing a bit to use Centaur runes for near perma swift with the 15 CD heal. I do just fine in wvw (using a power/prec build btw with GS/Sword-Pistol or Gs/Staff, I switch it up a bit).

I went with a male Norn, and made him as big and mean looking as possible. Why? Because it’s absurd and funny as heck to see a giant manly guy throwing around pink/purple crap. Also I like the snow leopard elite, even though I rarely use it.

Please keep crying about Moa OPness.. Nerf it to heck and back, remove it for all I care. I’ll keep using my “subpar” Timewarp and Mass Invis.

But yeah, Moa is so OP, should be entirely focused on because our other elites suck. Also other classes elites suck really bad too like Thief’s guild and the Rangers AOE root etc etc..

Oh, btw… I think Moa is actually the only skill in my list I have not spent the points on yet. :S

Good Synergy between GS and Staff?

I’m only lvl 61 atm and was previously using GS/sword-focus because I can’t stand not having swift. But turning 60 I got some superior Runes of the Centaur for my swift needs (using it along with the 15s CD heal).

So since that switch I’ve been trying out GS/Staff (I only play in wvw pretty much, hardly any pve maps and never spvp). I have to say, nothing can disperse a zerg like this combo can. I run up, drop a Feedback, put a chaos field on top of it, summon Warlock, switch to GS, summon zerker and just watch everyone die or run within seconds. This combo can all be fired off almost instantly and also almost instantly stacks AOE confusion while dealing good damage. (I trait heavily into dueling for precision and stack power/prec on gear).

In situations where you become focused or in 1v1 situations, the survivability options are just awesome. In a huge zerg vs zerg when I become focused, dropping conditions + swifting by healing to blink to stealth = easily escape every time just to turn back around and start dishing out the pain again.

I always combo my feedback with a zerker, the confusion bolts + bleeds (sharper image) are outstanding.

All in all I’m really liking this weapon setup now that my swift situation has been dealt with, I also do love the sword though and would have just as much fun with GS and sword/sword or sword/pistol. GS GS GS though, GS 4 life!

I only respond in kind to the remarks of others.

People want to complain unreasonably, then they are bad.

Clearly there is something amiss because there’s a lot more of us saying that there’s something wrong with one profession missing a movement passive that the others get in some shape or form (be it signet or trait..).

Lol, no. There’s a lot of players who are jealous of the Thief run speed Signet.

I find it hilarious that people are crying about a Ranger’s 10% Signet, when Blink essentially matches it.

Then you have people crying about classes that can weapon swap for Swiftness …

While refusing to swap Focus. Now that makes me laugh out loud.

And at the end of the day, Guardians are still slower. I’m not versed well enough in Necro capabilities, but from what I’ve seen in WvW they are even slower than Guardians.

So Mesmer is basically tied for third fastest class along with Warriors and Rangers (and where does the Engi land?). Mesmers are faster than Guardians and Necros …

And we have people crying?

Of course we do, because they’re watching all the Thieves and Eles. Nothing but pure, unadulterated, whiny class envy for running around the map right there.

And it’s even more funny because the only thing this really affects is cruising for 100% map completion.

And the pure irony that Mesmers are actually faster underwater … roflmfao.

Guardians can keep swift up for a majority of the time and have leaping moves. Warriors can have 100% swift uptime, I’ve seen warriors stack swift up to 2 minutes(they also have leap moves). Thieves are obviously the fastest passive runners(without investing traits) and even faster investing traits in stealth move speed. Elementalists rival the speed of a thief but need to trait a bit into it. Ranger gets a 10% movement speed + uses warhorn for a swift that can be extended to near 20 seconds (I main a ranger, my swift lasts 16 1/2 seconds and I could extend it longer), also with the sword off hand I can make a huge leap every couple seconds, add a Greatsword and thats another huge leap every(7?) seconds.

While ranger is also forced to use a certain offhand to get his swift buff, it’s actually probably the best offhand. Whereas the Mesmer is forced to use a focus, for a pitiful 10 second swift, while other offhands are arguably better, or easily preferred by different players.

I’ll admit I know absolutely nothing about Necros.

I’ve been playing Mesmer lately(up to lvl 60) and I pretty much only play in WvW. The only thing I’ve hated about the class is the poor mobility. Mobility is so important in WvW. Sometimes I get so tired of being sokittenslow that I just go back on my Ranger(even though I love everything else about Mesmer).

BTW, you talk so much about our teleport and clones.. I’d like to see you outrun any smart person who isn’t fooled by clones playing either a thief, elementalist or warrior. It won’t happen. Your little teleport only gets you so far then has a 30 second CD, even using the focus swift any of those classes can easily catch up to you before either blink or curtain are off CD.

So in WvW confronted by a zerg that you need to run from, pretty much any other class has a good chance of getting away. While the mesmer only has a chance if the zerg is full of complete morons who stop to attack your dodge roll or stealth clones.(not trying to say this never happens, I actually get away a lot based on that).

Btw, I also agree with the other people in this topic that you could try to disagree without acting like such an arrogant jerk, then maybe people would actually listen to your argument.

Oh btw, my Ranger is also faster underwater then the Mesmer. With 10% passive, a charging move(like mesmer #2) and elite to add 33% more movement speed. Thief is also very fast underwater for several reason.

ild love that too. Hate seeing a friend trying to help me and end up ressing a clone.

I’ve actually had to laugh at myself a couple times when I tried to rez my own clone after a rally. I can’t help it, I see press F to revive and I’m there!

That said, I like the system as is, and I’m afraid if they disabled it, it would probably affect F for finishing as well.. I think people should just learn the game better, it’s not hard to tell the difference (even on an enemy mesmer).

I had the invisible enemy problem myself, wasn’t so bad until I updated to the latest Nvidia drivers (thought this might fix it but it made it DRASTICALLY worse). I then unchecked the ‘High-Res Character Textures’ box, and it seems to have helped a lot. Actually the last couple hours I haven’t had the issue at all even though I’ve been in a huge zerg on zerg battle.

Teleportation exploit in WvW?

I keep seeing this blamed on the Mesmer portal, but it sure does not sound like that was what was used in this case. Sure a Mesmer can hide inside a keep then jump out and portal people in..

However, being that he says they are popping up in the lord room. It seems unlikely to me a Mesmer could get from the Lord room all the way out of an outside wall where their friends are waiting in order to drop the entrance portal in under a minute. (the first part of the portal lasts for only 1 minute)
