Every time it happens (Well almost every time), the whole ‘Warrior Reroll’ statement.
It is almost like asking someone to stop having fun and do something boring. Simple answer, No I shall not reroll at the whim of someone else.(Side note: Yes I’m going very slowly through the PvP ranks due to not finding it as fun as before).
Try and understand. Everyone is in the same frustrating system. When they see your warrior icon that is like 99% chance of a loss. (in their mind, I mean nobody knows maybe the enemy is trash and you still win — maybe their comp doesn’t make it so hard on war for that match etc…)
It’s no secret right now warriors just cannot really hang, even the best players of them.
So you actually are selfish and a bit ignorant to keep playing it. But hey, that is your choice to be selfish, just don’t be surprised when other people are also selfish and care more about their pip then your fun.
It’s also really out of spvpers way to rebuy exotic gear/runes/sigils. “as most of us are dirt poor”. There are also a lot of spvpers who just plainly do not have gear past cheap masterworks to begin with. You may want to consider doing this in a custom arena if you want more joins. Either legacy mid or forest on beach.
You need to make this convenient for players who are already concerned with farming for pips/guild ladder. Also, your prize pot will probably not even be enough to cover the cost that spvpers will use to buy the gear they need to compete in your tournament “if they even win”.
~ Not busting your balls, just pointing this out.
Truthfully, most players (even PvPers. I am a HARDCORE PvPer and I certainly do) should have a set of exotics, if not the gold to get it. I also feel as though you may have a very warped sense of what a set of exotics costs. 4,000 Gems is probably enough to buy every level 80 that you have a full set of exotics.
No
Most players have either full ascended on characters or cheap masterworks on alts rocking trans charges until they can build worthwhile asc or grind asc box drops + forge change from pvp reward track “which happens pretty often, at least once a week”. The point is that buying exotic gear + runes, especially expensive ones, is a complete waste of gold for those who already have asc. Also, some exotic gear is NOT SO CHEAP or easy on timeframe “eh em, celestial exotics”. And ~ 4,000 gems isn’t anywhere even near what it would cost to build or buy certain exotic setups + rune/sigil configurations for certain specs in PvE.
Have you never bought gems and converted them in to gold? It isn’t as much as you’d think it is. Especially not when a berserker insignia alone will run you 9 gold and that’s not even talking inscriptions. This is even disregarding any & all mats “including ridiculously overpriced runes/sigils” used to build the rest of your setup.
Sure, some specs may get away with being cheaper but others will not. Point being: the OP really needs to bring this tournament to a 1v1 server or he won’t get Enough play to make this a thing within the spvp community.
Speaking on my own behalf, I am completely disinterested in this tournament when I normally would be very interested. The reason why is that I would rather not spend 100+ gold to rebuy temporary exotics+runes/sigils in place of my ascended, for a tournament that happens once a year, that I am obviously I am unsure of if I will win or not.
Again, not busting your balls. Just pointing out that it is rather expensive past the initial entry fee for some players.
How do you even know what anyone else has? I have 9 toons fully geared in multiple exotics sets and many ascended of various types.
All this acquired as a wvw only roamer who NEVER does pve. Now that I’m doing spvp instead I make like 10x the amount of gold.
So what
the
kitten
you talkin bout willis
I would have agreed with you until I hit tier 3 of Sapphire and BOOM been on a disaster train since. Something similar happened to me in Emerald where I had a string of bad games around tier 2.
While going higher levels may offload some of the useless players. You can’t ever get away from Anet’s match making. They still manage to find bad players for you.
The genius that is MMR in Leagues, I guess it means its lining up some win streaks for me soon -.-
I feel ya man I been tier 3 sapphire for days.. 4 pips up 4 pips down, never fails..
Because you can have whole enemy team after you whole match while you running in circles, have 0 points and lead you team to victory.
Pretty sure with enemies like that should be a win no matter what you do in the match.
It’s the hardest class to fight, I can deal with them 1v1 and have 50-50 chance but against two of them I literally explode. It’s also hard to disengage with all the chill, if I swap shiro for glint I can survive longer but sacrificing a lot.
I don’t think any class should be able to skilllessly win reliably in 1v2’s. That’s a clear indication of balance issues. That being said, reapers also have this issue. against 2 opponents, 1 reaper can only survive for so long before getting wrecked.
Yes 1v2 is basically impossible but even when going mid and get focused by 2 necro sometimes I don’t have time to do shiro/evade -> swap mallyx -> resistance that i’m already dead
MAybe it’s time to create your own build variation instead of relying on meta build which assumes a tempest is going to be there to full clear it now and then.
I have little issues with reapers in my build, then again, I added ways to deal with condi a bit better.
Same thing happen to me on ele. I just had to log out and log back in to avoid dishonor.
They should stop trying to professionalize PvP in GW2, its just a joke. This is yet another example, in amongst many as to why they should stop.
Instead of giving half a million to pro PvP farmers, use that to develop PvP so its fun for people.
Oh, it gets even better. A warrior in Emerald whispered me for advice in PvP, so after talking I figured I can afford to lose a pip when things go bad.
Well, on the 4th game we won 2 pips. I’m in freaking diamond, against low-tier rubies and sapphires and the game actually thought the odds were strongly against me. Okay, sure, my partner is a warrior but that’s no reason to give 2 pips.
Now I need to take a shower, I feel dirty like I cheated queuing with an emerald player like I wanted easy wins.
Like 99% of the ESL players, EEEESPPPUUUURTS, ArenaNets version of an expensive joke
Hah thanks for the carry, nice bunkering too.. The warrior did well anyways!~ ( i was a rev on your team)
I que sometimes with a friend whos playing thief. Hes dangerous 1v1 and can eat revs and necros for breakfast. Also good at +1 to jump in, burst someone in 2sec and go somewhere else. Ppl have no idea how strong DD is. Underrated class atm and thats olny bc majority of thief community sux.
I think it’s more like the majority of players suck and don’t know how to play a strat that includes thief doing thief things.
omg you lost one single pip what ever shall you do. just dont queue conquest again? too much logic?
No loss is anyones fault didn’t you know that.
TLDR:
Waaa! Why can’t I faceroll every spec as condition reaper??
He probably doesn’t even know what chill affects eles twice more than other classes, and that without diamond skill they are just locked out of skill usage. Reapers are the clearest example of why Diamond Skin needs to stay as it is.
So basically, because a class has a distinct advantage due to certain class mechanics, that makes a poorly designed skill, that affects stat choices and completely hard-counters certain builds from multiple classes, okay to have?
Yup, because the game isn’t shaped around 1 v 1. Its a team game. T E A M .
1v1’s are part of the overall team effort though.
Other similar skills have been adjusted to fix this interaction in the past.
You realize you’re crying over one necro build that ofc DS ele can hard counter? It’s one build while ele really only has 2 viable builds left for this meta. There’s always going to be a counter build to another. You take away or revamp DS and ele goes down the drain yet again for this meta. Easy way to fix this… dun play cele necro in a 1v1 vs DS ele. Just like you dun wanna play DS ele vs a straight dps class. Ele has their own hard counter builds; get over it that your cele necro is just not one of those.
Just curious, what would you say is the diamond skin tempest hardcounter in 1v1? Pretty much everything I can think of either stalls it if it has sustain or loses since it doesn’t have enough damage or sustain. I could see power rev doing well against it though if it baits cooldowns to spike with unrelenting assault. Viper rev seems like it would have a shot of it stripped DS with sword autos but I’m not totally sure on that.
It’s actually a pretty straightforward fight as a rev, I admit I run a bit different as a soloer I take Marauder lately a long with glint/jalis. DS Tempest is easily winnable, just takes awhile. I had less success with condi or hybrid setups vs tempest.
What if you queue as a thief because you know matchmaking takes into account class and you switch before the match starts? This would reduce the chances of a thief being in the party since the algorithm picked you out as the thief not taking into account how you could switch.
In my experience q’ing as thief I most often end up with 1-2 more thief on team.
I’d rather see amulet/rune bans. Trait lines are too wide of swaths to just ban. Rune/amulet bans or restrictions at least there are other available choices just not “the best”.
I’d probably be in ruby (luck be with me) by now but I took a break for awhile.. Back at it since yesterday half through sapphire now.. Full soloq since amber.
I doubt I will even bother trying to go past ruby, just do not have the patience.

I don’t really care what class people are playing tbh. I’ve had wins from 3 thief war + thief … w/e.. In the end it doesn’t matter as much as some other things..
I just hate when I get a team that can’t stay alive more then 2s at a time.
What if DS didn’t prevent vuln. Would that be enough to level it out in peoples opinion? What about if vuln let a % of condi damage go through aka 25 stacks = 25%.
I don’t think this would work due to the amount of condi clear tempest has.
They do have a lot of clears, but this would at least add play/counter play..
I want to see this trait toned down but I don’t want to see it broken, so this was the best I could think of so far.

Many have hit diamond across the playerbase, sure. Have a look at how many diamonds are on your screen there..
When you fall below 50% AND when take damage, it activates. There is no chance, despite saying there is a chance.
Which is weird as why doesn’t it just activate when you fall below 50% health like is beyond me. Meh, bad design is bad.
I rather that it activates when it matters like now then to have it activate immediately and get wasted.
How bout kills being worth points based on how many nodes you own.
Curious if people feel having a DD on team is still worse then having non-elite specs on team.
Imho it should be 25 per kill minimum, so if enemy team would go bunker composition you could ignore points and zerg them down…
Yes because encouraging more brainless strategies is the way to make this game less brainless.
Encouraging people to actually fight each other is more brainless then spamming invulns and passive bunkering?
It would change nothing in meta play since nobody ever dies.
I think it is not so much going far as it is who is going far. I have played many games soloq in which we have 4 dps and 1 bunker. Our bunker goes far and attempts to tank 1 or 2 players, and then wonders why we are dying. It turns out the enemy team have two bunkers so they can split them and heal their dps. Thus our 4 dps loses on the other two nodes due to sustain.
Honestly I rather my team push far and force their bunker/support to sit on mid himself alone the whole game, creating that 5v4 on the two nodes of interest. But solo q players “MUST HAVE MID AT ALL COSTS”
This is the kind of scenario repeatedly frustrating me.. There seems to be a lot of players who just want to play far at all costs no matter the comps or splits.. Seems to be a mantra of if I’m 2v1 I’m doing the right thing regardless of the situation..
Depends on the people you get.
Some see thief and complain.
Some see thief and complain and throw or don’t contribute.
Some blame the thief for others in the team giving up early because there is a thief.
Some target you for blame if you speak up against the missplays like zerging close vs 1 or point out what the team needs to do to have a chance.
Some don’t care.
Some play a truly ineffective “carry-me” build and blame the thief start to finish.
Some blame the thief when the issue is the comp i.e. 2 DH vs a lot of on sustain and point pressure.
Some start to perform your role instead of you so you can’t get stealth decaps and have a weaker team fight.
Some compliment you during the match by saying only they and you have a clue, and the other 3 are bads.
Some compliment you after the match.
Some block you and rage-whisper you after the match.
Some want to party with you after the match.
Some go onto the forums after the match to complain about thieves.
Some go onto the forums after the match to complain about people complaining about thieves.
Some thieves go onto the forums after the match to complain about their class.
Some thieves go onto the forums after the match to subtly suggest other complaining thieves are just doing something wrong because they themselves are getting praised.
Some go onto the forums to ask a question to which the answer is obvious.
Some go onto the forums for a laugh.
If I get top damage delt, top stomps, and my team wins I know im the best.
What about the guy who got top revives picking you up ?
Because thief can’t carry anymore. Thief can still be useful but that requires that his team sets up winning +1 situations for him and/or doesn’t screw up his decap rotations.
SCORE DOES MATTER
If the rest of the team has 100+ and you have 30, and it was a close game.
Definitely you are dead weight
Well typing everything with uppercase letters help almost as much as score does to a game.
So you are calling me dead weight when I defend home point from being captured through a whole match? Now usually I do get scores sometimes, I do this as there are players trying to take home point and I kill them but most of the time I get to fight Eles or other tanky builds and the fight can go on for almost the whole match if I don’t get help. But I know for sure that as long as I keep the cap point in my teams colour I am contributing to the team with or without any personal score. On the other hand for a tanky build trying to take the cap from an enemy player and who never succeeds to cap the point, well that player is a dead weight.
Please read first.
It would NOT be a close match if you bunked or defended the whole game.
I did read and I did understand it quite well mind you. If I defend or not won’t result in uneven matches, it is all depend on what strategys both teams are using. As a defender I evaluate if I am needed at home for example and I may move to another location if needed but still as a bunker I am traited to be guarding a point from being captured by the enemy team thus I will stay on a captured point and thus I will not gain very much personal score, still I am doing a darn good job holding a point from the enemies if they try to take it but I can keep them from doing that but still I gain no score.
My other teammates can make mistakes and we will loose points so we can iether loose, win or we can have a very close match. Defending capture points is one of the most important positions in this game and it usually gives you the least points.
And if you stubbornly sit on home point and the enemy team ignores you while 5v4’ing your team on the map?
That would be bad. But that’s not what’s being argued.
A player with a low score could be bad/not contributing, but they could equally be the most valuable player on the team, because the argument is that the personal scoring is highly flawed and not a good indicator of actual contribution .
I agree, just showing the other side of “I have low points because I bunkered home” argument.
Ironically, I think rev has better build diversity than most of the other classes in the game.
Theres 2-3 viable rev pvp builds with variations on eachother, meanwhile something like tempest or dragonhunter or druid really only has one viable option to be competitive.I don’t agree with this at all. The Esports meta is only malyx/shiro. It IS true that there are 2-3 STRONG rev builds, but there are a ton of viable STRONG ranger builds too (alot more in fact). Druid META has 2 builds at least (cele might stack, MoC cleric)
but I wasn’t even talking about pvp as I said multiple times, I’m talking about viable wvw roaming/dueling builds
Well who cares about that? Most WvW players would be instafood if they tried to enter a real pvp match.
Such a dumb statement…
Funny thing I happen to know a lot of the top players (even esl players) who were hard core wvw players.

I get that it’s a good strat under the right conditions ie you are not the only bunker so your team is able to sustain in team fights… But what I normally see is a bunker continuously “1v2” on far while the team cannot sustain itself on mid and gets wiped then home is lost as well.
Then the bunker on far goes I’m 1v2 why cant you win outnumbered fights vs 3 bunkers?
What I mean to say is it’s not always only about the number of players in a system with random comp teams.
It still works but not as good. Necros are less scared to queue so many more of them to deal with which is much harder now especially when not just 1v1.
I’ve swapped to a power build as a soloscrubber, works for me. Been running a power build with a bit extra sustain and glint/jalis. I know you don’t see jalis much but it’s actually pretty useful when running solo with random team comps.
Leave DS alone, tone down healing or protection or aura spam or any one of the numerous reasons tempest are currently over the top.
Doesn’t really matter, as is though all of the combined is too much.
Besides that DS is another passive that promotes lazy play, like %hp invuln procs. I’d rather see it be something more interesting personally..
It’s not like I don’t also play ele I mean it’s been in my top 3 favorites since bwe1 (personally I spend a lot of time across all my toons in my 7kish hours).
Yeah nerf healing, aura, protection, dmg……just delete tempest just to be sure lol
I guess you are not able to read the word “OR” in lower case so here it is with OR capitalized.
“Leave DS alone, tone down healing OR protection OR aura spam OR any one of the numerous reasons tempest are currently over the top.”

What is peoples obsession with going far over and over in pugs when it most always results in a losing position?
I don’t understand Pls explain ty.
Especially if you have a thief on your team who is actively decapping and trying to +1 fights.. Why do you push far on a bunker ele and create a losing 2v2 situation on 2 nodes? Why not instead stay on home and mid and create situation where the thief can come make 3v2 2v1 etc? I don’t understand
Please if you are one of these guys who has a “fardon” explain me thanks.
edit- To clarify im thinking maybe im just stupid and someone can explain it to me .. thanks

PvP players always look for a way to exploit the game and are relentless in doing so.
Only when the system encourages you to do it. Like when exploiting is far more rewarding than fair playing.
lol the silly ways people try to justify immoral behavior cracks me up. News flash: exploiting is always more rewarding then fair play, that is literally why people risk getting banned to do it.
Yeah well in that case, no one gets banned, they manage to farm what they need to farm and be more efficient than people trying to be “morally good”
Let’s not forget the system being actually far more punishing on older pvp players or legit one which ends up getting a mmr close to 50% making them stall uselessly because the game match them with stronger team to make them lose…
Fair Play, in this matter, is irrelevant. I’ll be fair play when Anet gets their flawed and horrible system into place
First of all, I don’t need any incentives to be a decent person, I just happen to already be that way. I also don’t really care what others manage to achieve or gain especially when we are talking about the abysmal “rewards” league’s offer.
Trust me, I know all to well the wall many of us are against. I simply just don’t care enough about the ugly backpiece. My greed does not outweigh my decency in this case.
Who or what rewards are gained doesn’t bother me. What does bother me is this behavior makes the system even worse for the rest of us.

Most of these arguments of ‘you need to rotate’ are utterly invalid for 95% of the cases in which issues with a DS ele occur – because the majority of players do not play in full, organized, and communicating comps. The vast majority of players are also not professionally competitive – so making comparisons to ‘look how fast this pro with DS ele was downed’ has almost no relevance to this argument.
People say ‘get good’ and ‘learn to play’ – however I can assure you that the majority of the pvp community are casuals in which traits like this completely shut down a half to third of all opposing builds.
One of the previous suggestion of reducing condi duration, with the effect doubled at above 90% HP is the best I have seen so far – providing a decent level of condi defence, whilst allowing condi builds to still be viable through persistence.
However, traiting for Cleansing Water as the water grandmaster, accompanied by Invigorating Torrents from tempest provides a consistent tool for condi removal anyway, with switching to water providing enough regeneration procs to remove burst condis – so this change to the earth grandmaster won’t make to much of a difference vs condis to a decent ele.
What? You mean to say people can’t rotate around a ds ele if they are not in a full organised and communicating comp? LOL. I am stunned speechless.
Lets say you are on home point and get stuck defending vs a auramancer.. You can’t win for whatever reason and you need to rotate out. Do you give him the point and just leave? Do you stay in a pointless fight forever and maybe die???
Lets not forget you can’t just say outloud hey I need help on home and have reliable teammates that come rotate you out..
You can ping on the map, or write in chat.. It may or may not get a response…
Wasn’t that hard of a scenario to realize, mind not blown.
A pvp enabled area on HOTM yes please, let us practice during queues.
Many times ive helped down a player and left my teammate to stomp and cap, while i ran to another fight.
Did that in a match last night, +1’d downed enemy just off the node, left my teamate with full hp and the cap taken so I could go help mid. 30s later I’m being screamed at because somehow a 100% hp DH died to a downed ranger.
I had two thief team.. kittened me off and I gave up before ready up.. Swapped to thief, 3 thief team won by landslide. funny match..
Our big reward for achievs is this skin, this very unimpressive one in my opinion. I’ve never seen anyone using them, cannot be popular I wouldn’t think. I’m sure theres some metric out there to support that..
Anything ranged and 1 handed.
WOT? Is it fixed? You sure? (the bug is that it would not remove condis if there weren’t enemies around you during skill cast)
Yes it cast on you now not the enemy.
It was a change to fix that effects were applied before the casting of the well was complete. For example you could get quickness from chrono runes by casting/stowing weapon/weapon swapping and the well would not be on CD.
Can we make it a group buy?
I for one want necros buffed not nerfed.
You guys bringing Pro-Sports into this discussion fail to mention the fact that said players sign contracts which prohibit them from certain behaviors less they face fines, suspension etc (ragequit from game would be fined).
Do the ESL players sign such a contract, and if so does this action violate a clause? That is the only true question that matters.
Everything else is just drama. lamas
