1. If we did it the way you want with a timeout, when you dc’d and the other person is down, they’ll just get up over a long period of time, and then kill you. The effect is the same.
It can be true, it can be not. It depends on the period. 5 s period ? maybe. From down state ? impossible. 10 s ? possible. From down state ? maybe, 20 s ? highly. (and dont mix Anet plan “fix” with xx s the character is still in the game. If you try to compare then the scenario: Anet: alt+f4 while in combat >>>> die = 0 s to finish DC character before that character log-off completely. Can you finish a character in 0 s ?)

2. And be honest here, how often are you getting dc’d when you’re on the winning side of fighting.
What your definition of winning side ? you owned people by pressing F or just down them ? for pressing F: 0 (I rarely use of F to finish people), just down them: about 40 times.

3. Lvl 80 gear costs 1 silver & 64 copper to repair.
The truth: I don’t really care about it. WP cost ? I don’t really care. I do not need to go to the mist (PvP or WvW) just to get to LA or go to the bank or using black lion trading service.

4. If you did things like HP thresholds, people will dc before they hit that threshold, because the game has just dictated what the new “lost the battle” point is.
Threshold number still can be changed. 25%, 50% 75%, 80%, 90%, 99%. 99.99% (at least you were hit)? DC/alt+f4, you die ? fine (but how many times you see enemy alt+f4 when their HP is when 100%, above 75%, 50%, 25% ?), 100% ? alt+f4/DC, you die ?no way.

I disagree with the plan fix for “alt+f4/DC” just because you are in combat.

Simple scenario: I treb (maximum power) and hit a NPC/Player which put me in combat. Suddenly I DC-ed (maybe connection error, client crash, blue screen) before this “in combat” status dissipates. After I log in, I found my character died. Seriously died because you hit NPC/Player 10,000 units away from you and DC !!! Bravo….. (dunno if that player get exp/loot).

Thats an outlier so does it really matter? You get some minor repair cost so what, the other guy wouldn’t get anything cause he hasn’t landed a blow on you.

Another scenario, in combat you almost kill your opponent (your opponent down there or just 1 last hit) and your HP still above 50%, suddenly you get disconnected. Your opponent, which should be dead, get exp and loot, which actually should be your; but for you: after you log in you watch your dead body + repair cost + if you are not in town, portal cost (yeah I know 1 – 3 s is not really big, but what I write is about what will people feel if their character die but they actually do not deserve it). Do you think it is fair ?

That is why I think the rule should be added, DC/alt+f4/crash in combat when your HP is below some threshold (which may be 25%, 10%, 50%, number can be changed) including down.

Again: I disagree with the planned mechanic (you died because you are DC/alt+f4 while in combat (in WvW, you are in combat not only because you are hitting an enemy NPC/player but also because you are hitting neutral NPC (or neutral NPC hit you)), not I disagree with the plan to fix “alt+f4” problem.

Some people has propose better mechanic (for example: there is xx seconds for every character in WvW still in their location after they disconnected) for this but Anet choose their own way. So my suggestion for this planned fix is still based on Anet.

I think his points is: (ok we are not to talk about ballista, ac, or any range weapon below 1200 range), lets say he uses a treb to hit the gate or wall and there is enemy NPC or player or yak there. He shoots the treb (with maximum power) and hits enemy NPC/player/yak. This will make him in combat mode. Suddenly he DCs before this combat mode go away. After he logs in, he finds his character died.

Although we dont know if this will make his armor broken or no, but let say he is login WvW from any non town. It means he must pay 1 s 20 c to nearest WP. Although the number is small but its frustrating if you died because you DC (while in combat status because you shoot the treb and hit NPC/player/yak).

What Anet should do: alt+f4 or DC when in combat should not kill character if that character is not in DOWNED condition. (which has been implemented in current system (you in downed stated >>> DC/alt+f4 = died, in addition the new plan (which giving exp and maybe loot to player))

or his version: the character is still there (after he/she DCs) for 20 s.

I think this is what he wants to say. (And this is also what I think after I re-read the “will be” fix WvW post from Anet).

I think you need some rest. Seriously just rest (do dungeon/disable B shortcut button/get some life) for this week (until match reset).

And you need to have more trust in your server and your guild. Don’t be: if I am not there, our server will lose; if I am not there, my guild will be broken.

Get some rest. Its better than you die.

If you are really a co-owner with over 500 employees, you should know this better than I am.

There are some class which strong enough to destroy 50 (or if not destroy, crippled) so hard. In addition, these class long range AoE skills do not have red circle (which is deadly). This type of AoE skills should be limited. But I agree with non AoE cap for all skills which have red circle (as it has a warning for player to move) or low range line skills (except melee attack).

Limit to 5 individuals for AoE damage skills.

Well some people say: its to limit some class (with huge damage/spike) to wipe entire army. (looks good right ? Yep if it is for AoE without warning (big red circle), but no if it is for AoE with warning).

Similar spot near Cliffside (& it`s various other names..)
I placed Balista far from Cliffside so could pick off players/guards.
Suddenly me & another using siege were getting hit with Ele` AoE from above.
They`d left their main borderlands WP, stood on ledges & could damage us, but we couldn`t hit them.

Bad placement. You should awarded by your own doom. Why you put ballista there anyway if you see: High terrain behind you which may conceal enemy present (invulnerable or not).

Reverting this "Culling Update"?

Last fix culling (the one that make NPC disappear after 1 hour) still working better than this (but yeah the weakness after 1 hour all NPC and players disappear).

The chance is pretty slim. All mobs (including invader in WvW) can drop a precursor. You can get precursor from chest also (especially chest from claw of jormag (although its also very slim)). The only chest which give precursor in large number is ancient chest from one time event ancient karka.

Legendary guard will not shoot you from that hill. If you want to capture him, try this: hide from his sight, let him almost kill 1 guard, surprise him. If he runs again, hide again, and repeat. (dont chase, you may meet your doom if he has friend there)

Nope, its not exploit. You are the wrong one in this case because you try to go to their spawn point.
Lets say abusing game mechanic: it means zerg vs zerg is abusing game mechanic (5 man cap) or if there are 6 people in red circle, it is considered abusing game mechanic (5 man cap). But is it ?

But yeah, we lack a tool to report a hacker or exploiter (funny thing botter is there)

Heartseeker - That Damage

Heartseeker makes some thief player (especially bad player) become dumb. They dont explore more what a thief can do. (It very easy to defeat this player, evade at right time, bind them, and /laugh).

All they do: Heartseeker 3 times, if their enemy does not die or quickness does not proc, they will flee/hide/alt+f4 (their initiative is wasted).

New Culling Trial (Ended)

I feel that with this culling fix, all my commands are lagged especially in semi large battle. (worst than before the fix). Otherwise, all my commands are speed up (like i got quickness, but actually not) >>> when you do hitting key 1 manually.

Other issues: this fix make my command for shooting treb (holding), release in the middle.

I think this issue because server give priority in sending message to client rather than receiving message from client.

Major issue: I cannot see my allies. I cannot see enemies (far away 1200 range).
minor issue: enemies are rendered correctly (for melee range) but no name tag on it (make it hard to identify the enemy)

Suggestion for fix: its best to not rendering enemy first in large number (limit it to several number from the nearest) and make sure all name tag of enemy displayed first (thus even though we cannot see the enemy, we still can see their tag). Or, you can make simple enemy model (same model for every race and gender (like player default model in PvP), kinds of armor, and weapon (except legendary)).

WvW Gear

I recently hit 80 on my Ele. I still have my crappy leveling gear on. I’m so sick of PvE at this point, there is no way I could start doing dungeons or anything else PvE related. How can I gear myself up to be effective in WvW w/o doing anymore PvE?

You can get exo:
1. From karma vendor in orr (in each temple and door to Arah).
2. You can crafting.
3. Do dungeon. Do Ascalonian Catacombs (exp).
FYI: They dont care what your gear is >>> especially ele (as long as you dont die too much and know how to evade), spawn frost bow, aoe, whatever you have. And boom you get 180+ ascalonian tear a day (from all 3 path for about 2 hr runs). Boom you get full set of exo in about 1 week (you only miss 2 hours WvW everyday)
4. If you have 20 g, you can buy them in TP.

FYI: gear progression in WvW is suck, you can only get exo from drop or badge honor gear merchant. For badge of honor, you can only get it if your damage is superior from the rest of the zerg, or RNG if your damage cap to the threshold.

Bigger map (as large as whole Tyria map or 10 sub-maps combined to 1) with a lot of scattered capture node which need at least 10 minutes running with speed buff. And make those captured nodes have unique ability/usage. For example: a node which can build char tank or a node which can give your enemy bad status (like temples in the orr), etc.

Easiest and Hardest towers to take

In EB:
Easiest to take tower: Anz, Durios, Klovan.
second Easiest: Quentin, Ogre, wildcreek.
Hardest: the rest of the towers (five of them are the heart of the keep, if these towers fall, your keep is in danger (first and second wall/gate will absolutely fall if enemy has good organisation and can defend it well)).
Hardest keep to take (in regards of environment): overlook (that is why this keep is given to third rank on the tier).
Easiest keep to take: lowlands (that is why this keep is given to the first rank in each tier, watergate: not reinforced can be taken down easily, courtyard is too large: enemy have advantage to put their different siege here).

BL:
The easiest: the tower near your spawn point.
The hardest: the tower in NE (Dawn/Crag/Cliff).
Hardest to easiest keep: Hill, Garrison, Bay.

Nope, its not exploit (in currently condition where knockback from cata knocks some people behind the gate, attack from all classes hit people behind the gate).

Range to res people (if I am not wrong) is same as the range of melee class. It means if it exactly behind the door (or maybe a bit (tiny) far away from the door), you can still res them.

If there is an enemy corpse inside your tower, you should think that corpse as a spy machine >>> not just ordinary corpse (wait in front of him (sit, kneel, dance, jump, up to you)).

Dodge didn't work in spvp THREE sep. times!

Empathic Bond (occurs periodically, requires living pet) >>>periodic does not mean you will cleanse from condition after you are struck by a skill which gives you condition. It will cleanse you every 10 s. (in 2.5 s, it will cleanse you once).

Healing Spring’s conditions removal also works only once (but if it works like ele healing skill, then its every 3 s).

The problem with you cannot dodge from an attack which immobilized you (and you break it by and ability) but its rarely happen (the only thing I noted is usually you cannot move (which can be fix by dodge/moving your character with some skills).

Condition which had been applied to you cannot be dodged.

I think these servers have lost their will to fight in WvW. Spawn camped everyweek, cannot yield same number with server they match up. Thus make their WvW a ghost town. To make it worse no huge mass transfer to these server but there are mass transfer from these servers to other servers.

First the only ascended gear you get from dungeon right now is ring. (I believe this wont make any difference in WvW). The second is back (which can be crafted by mystic forge with ridiculous number of ingredients (250 T6 crafting component, next upgrade 250 ecto)).

The only suggestion I have: Anet should make all players have access to these gears (especially all armors) by crafting or by another means (buying with karma, badge, or token) at the same time.

If WvW becomes like AV (40 v 40) in WoW, then we talk about ascended gear should not be in WvW. (It will become sPvP anyway)

If WvW becomes like sPvP and it progression is symbolized by WvW rank not karma, gold, and exp. Then Anet should make WvW based gear. You buy upgrade and siege by exp progression.

If not, it doesn’t matter. WvW is just zerg vs zerg (the one which have biggest number and brain (commander only) will win; skill, gear, etc are not very useful in WvW, unless you roaming by yourself or in small group).

The wrong about GW2 population system is based on the number of player which are online at given time. Which mean it may be yes, it can be used as generalization which full server has more number in WvW (ps: but not always correct). (This is also the strong server become stronger and weaker server become server. This is also make transfer server is always possible to full server as long as there is time window which make those server become high populated. And this is why “balance” in WvW never be achieved as it can be easily destroyed by massive transfer (regardless pay or not pay).).

Population server should based on the number of people which are registered to that server not by the number of online player.

This one time event (especially the final one) should held on weekend (which are free time for majority of people) for all part of the world (Saturday in America, Sunday in Euro, Asia, Africa, and Australia) >>> if Anet do not want this one time big event run multiple times.

Transferring to the winning server

A bunch of big guilds on Deso… you make me laugh so hard. Afaik only Ruin (Ruin Gaming, Ruinous) transfered to BT. Iron and their alliance guilds still represent Desolation.

This guild (Ruin) has been known to transfer server from server since beginning of the game released. At least 2 servers have broken because of them. You can see: NSP (at release when WvW still day based, although they now become better) and ET (waiting to go to tier 7 or 8 ). I hope Deso not become their victim.

Firing a Catapult at Your Own Door

Oil is almost useless now in WvW (except it used for mindless zerg). Except Anet make oil defense and HP pool drastically increase and player can operate it from somewhere in tower by pulling some mechanism, cata will always a good choice for defending.

And as attacker you have more advantage than defender. Open field, more options to strike (wall/gate), more choice of siege you used, easy to get supply (defender has hard time to bring supply to their keep/tower). Its just matter how organized you are.

Lol, I dunno what they (guild) think about it. They will not get WvW status reward for at least 2 weeks (well if bugged it may be more), their guild will not become superstar.

But maybe there are something wrong in your server: WvW drama, lot of complaint, broken alliance, etc.

Remove AOE cap for certain class/ability, especially elementalist class (example: meteor shower (I dunno how this mechanic work, but it looks like meteor shower is based on collision detection or coordinate detection than damage per tick (you can sit in the middle of this skill and get no damage at all (if you are lucky)), tornado/whirlpool), guardian shield skill number 5 (push all enemy not only 5), etc. >>> this will need different topic.

I agree with doly escort rewards brought back and it increase if enemy attack doly.

Mesmer portals are game breaking in WvWvW

Portal has more strength than weakness now. (in fact this is not elite skill and has short cd (60 s))
1. It can port any number of people from 1 to 100 or more.
2. Bi-directional (no consequence if plan failed as you can escape easily by press F before portal shutdown).
3. AOE CAP exploit >>> automatically (after porting people will automatically stack with each other).

What I dont care: how the hell mesmer can port people inside wall of tower or keep (as long as they do not use any cheat or exploit), how the hell mesmer can port in our back undetected, how the hell I cant see any enemy (culling), and I dont care how is your CD portal skill work. I only now that if I am not casting my portal exit after 60s, my portal skill is not in CD >> I can cast portal entre directly.

What I propose:
1. limit portal to port 15 – 20 (it can be more but it must have limit) >>> giving place to new tactic.
2. only 1 way port. (no easy escape).
3. Set of Portals cannot stack (it might be 100 range apart or more) >>> force people to move and act fast.

Its not new discovered build, its off hand dagger ability 4, air attuned (you rarely see this as ele using -/d is rarely seen in WvW, but in PvE or SPvP there are lot). Or they use mist form or blink (short range).

What do you want to achieve by jumping server ? Only winning (fairweather player) ? Try to jump to winning server like SBI or other. Have fun ? Jump to lower tier non winning team (FC, Kaineng, etc). Organisation ? Just jump to random server or stay where you are.

Or you guys in ET or HoD can join together in 1 server.

As the title said, we need a change how tornado/whirlpool work as an elite skill. (maybe this has been talk over and over, but lets talk about it once again)

Strength of Tornado: push opponent (NPC/player), damage them (can be small or large depens on your activated skill). Strength of whirpool: pull opponent, damage them (flat). Other strength: give you stability, HP increase, power/precision increase (small).

Weakness: AOE 5 man cap (yup you cannot push or pull more than 5 opponent in the same time : I note this in WvW), pull and push based on tick (it means it will not always push or pull, try this on NPC and you will see it), has small range (240 radius >> same as your animation), enemy can hit you by range (and hit you by melee between tick), long cooldown.

What need to change/added:
1. reflect all projectile or destroy all projectile (while in tornado/whirlpool form).
2. increase the range.
3. elementalist get speed buff (while in tornado/whirlpool form).
4. reduce the cooldown.
5. decrease cd for subsequent push or pull.
6. or make it so no AOE cap for this skill.

Actually we need trap (you dont want enemy player run freely and easily in your area) which no red circle and cheap to build (but cannot be stacked). These trap can be ice, snare, land mine or whatever which slow down enemy movement and deal damage to moving siege. Maybe its also can scouting trap (which give signal to friendly map where enemy move).

(not really fancy device like radar or anything)

Culling issue is the number one problem in portal bombing. But another issue, portal make people do turtle automatically (regardless you know or not). Maybe in 2 s (after portal open) defender (you) can down several people out of portal, but after that, you will see your AOE capped to only 5 person and cannot down anymore people.

Solution I propose:
1. Mesmer portal should have a limit in the number of person it portalled. Maybe 15 – 20 person is good idea. (its still big number, but it need at least two mesmer to transport 30 – 40 people or more to transport more people).
2. Portal can only be used in one way (it means you cannot portal back to your original location before portal).
3. Portal cannot stack (so two mesmer cannot stack two portal in one location).

Yes, Its only one way regardless of which side you use (for one set of portal). It means if there is another mesmer make portal to go back to your original location before portal (it will slightly different as portal cannot stack), you can use it. (Anet can make debuff: portal sickness source: xxx player mesmer who cast the portal >>> cannot use portal again from xxx player (30 s)).

1. That would be a number I can live with.
2. No, portals need to go both ways, portals aren’t just a transportation skill. They are also used as fight skills, for example versus melee enemies.
3. This would mean if I put my portal next to another portal and I would go another way people couldn’t follow me? This would create a whole other problem.

2. This is to differentiate between a mesmer who can assess situation so they not endanger their team. It also give consequence to who use portal. It will also limit additional mesmer (who also porting) to get additional help easily (as they need to run back to their force).
3. Well this limitation can be readjusted to you can only cast portal 300 range apart from a friendly portal. But anyway portal cannot stack.

Hiding near a keep to prevent WP an exploit?

Thief/Mesmer sitting near door/guard (well if you have 3 minutes stealth) does not make a point contested. But if they attack NPC (guard) or door (make damage), your point will be contested.

Its not exploit, its tactic.

What's the theoretical ultimate strategy?

Strategy can evolve, but what really you need is information. Every server which have better information will win the game (in evenly match). Scout is a must.

Does BLUE have unfair advantage on Battlegrounds?

Actually RED has unfair advantage in EB.

1. You can build treb which hit: all towers in your area (north) and SM by building TREBs in overlook.
2. TREB in overlook can only be countered from: ANZ HILL (reachable by mortar), and all reds north tower except ANZ.
3. Pangloss is the hardest supply camp to be taken (actually).
4. Has the shortest supply line to the overlook/keep (pangloss) and its easy to defense.
5. Overlook is the hardest keep in EB to be taken. (inner keep in high ground)

What siege would you like to see next?

Trap/Mine, like: Fire trap (burning effect to foe, small damage to them), spike trap (immobilize/slowing them down, moderate damage), land mine (high damage to moving siege), etc.

All out war never complete without trap anyway.

If you do enough damage to enemy you still get exp and loot (well not always) although enemy jump out of cliff or pushed from a cliff (enemy died). It only avoid repairing fee but not deny anything to player who do enough damage. Its different with fear, you will get nothing if enemy fall because of fear.

You may not realize it, but if you do enough damage to enemy, you will get exp/loot. (as long as enemy status is still in combat while they jump from the cliff and die).

WvW Turtling - Intended or Not?

The real problem here is culling issue (which still unresolved).

Portal bombing, mass invisible, and turtling just make it worse.

Removing AOE caps does not breaking a game. You can tell that from: WoW (this MMO still online till now). It just need small nerf in AOE dmg, range, or mechanic in it (like damage splashed evenly to nearest foe)

WvW Karma Farming

The faster way to farming karma in PvE is in Sparkfly Fen (near dragon spawn). At least it keeps you busy until dragon spawn. (the risk of death also smaller).

Fastest way to get karma in WvW: killing yak, steal supply camp (it can be done in losing server, the karma you get will greatly increase if you have outmanned buff), capturing sentry point. Other method is by defending a point (like if your server have tower and keep) as it count every 4 minute.
