There has never been a game where the exploiters in the very beginning don’t prosper. Look at D3, the 0 day exploiters like Kripp had everything and held monopoly.

Ya a condition build with greater marks, Epidemic and WoS will decimate people if they cant get all the bleed stacks off. Just team up with a ranger and have both of you stack 15-20 bleeds and epidemic, people literally melt.
I wouldn’t say its not fun on HoD but it is a ghost town even in NA primetime. Yesterday the only map with a Q was EB and that was like 20 minutes at max. Amazing how fast things change eh? Around 7-8pm EST I am shocked we didnt have the outmanned buff tbh, the entire maps worth of zerg was in Titanpaw and it was like 25-30 people or so. I look forward to HoD climbing back to 1st but for now JQ got all the bandwagon non guilded people and the other large guilds from TA split because it does get boring winning every week.

@Binafus – Yes all other servers are filled with super leet pvp gods and the only reason the HoD scrubs win is because they have teh zerg on their side.
SBI has given up, apparently a couple weeks of losing and they take their ball and go home.
I think there are a couple things that are making Guardians OP right now. The first is that Conquest mode is basically tailor made for a bunker Guardian, you have a static location to stand on so their weakness of lack of range/mobility means zilch. The second is that their big counter, Necros are effing TERRIBLE right now so no one plays them even semi seriously.
tPvP needs at least another game mode that focuses on mobility/movement. Look at TF2 for good examples of map types and game modes that require diverse skill sets and different classes to be balanced to play all different kinds of maps. Just one additional map type would make Guards less likely to focus only on bunkering.
Right now, Guards are 100% OP but its silly to nerf them, just buff the counters that are already in the game or CHANGE THE GOD kitten GAME MODES.
One thing I just need to add, in case someone else gets it and changes their mindset for the better is…
This whole attitude I am seeing is the attitude of a failure. People are always too full of themselves and their own ego’s to the point they will defend it to their own detriment. Stop blaming everything else. Stop blaming your teammates, stop blaming your server, stop blaming THE GAME ITSELF. That is a recipe for failure right there.

So basically what you’re saying is that next week SBI + JQ need to actually form an official alliance and coordinate to ensure HoD has absolutely zero map presence during primetime and weekends.

I wont bother to go around and collect things said by people on SBI and ET in reference to the fact that it was a gangup, frankly I dont care. We on HoD were having a blast getting double teamed. Also you were spawn camping us in EB friday night. ET was at our spawn while SBI was sieging lowlands. Convince yourselves that SBI and ET are omg so leet because you were winning this weekend. I never even stated HoD was better or it was anything but even, you two feel the need to toot your own horns because at the end of the week when winners are tallied… It wont be either of you. They don’t get to play Borderlands Maps… just because they don’t have the same schedule as you or I.
That will never fly with ANet.
EDIT: SM is far less important than having 3 orbs.
The Orb bonuses are a whole different can of worms. Why someone would make a mechanic that helps the winners win harder is completely beyond me.
No they wouldnt get to play borderlands maps, so what? Its still W3 in EB and it would make it fair for EVERYONE.
I play on HoD and it was fun getting stomped this weekend by both servers, had the play continued all week I think we would have seen what you described where ET and HoD would take out SBI preferentially to even the scores up and balance would occur naturally.
This is impossible however, my suggestion would still allow meaningful play for everyone and allow a modicum of balance WITHOUT changing any of the current mechanics (other than maybe orbs but again they are just silly right now).
HoD got stomped while everyone was online over the weekend. Now that the adults are back to working they are making points back. Sounds like you have a lot of children/nighttime crew or jobless people on HoD. Friday – Sunday is the real match everything else is just for the teenagers and jobless to catch up. Either way not really something to be proud of. Considering that WvW is not a show of skill and individually most players are terrible.
Right and the collusion vs. HoD also didnt factor into it right?

Would there be something wrong with say, limiting the off hours NA time to just the Eternal Battlegrounds? That map is already the most important with SM and and it being the only “even” map.
I am not sure if there would be too many and the Queue would be untenable but I think its a good middle ground. The game itself doesnt need to change anything, the battle is still “24/7” for everyone and its more balanced because the offpeak times only have to fill a single map.

For what it’s worth, my proposal would be to eliminate the designation of EU and NA servers, add a little bit of data to the select server screen (ping value), and let everyone reshuffle.
Combine 1 NA server + 1 EU server and you have 1 Henge of Denravi
I think you should work for ANet =). I had the same idea, they would just need to let guilds stay intact and keep influence. Although if you just straight up combine servers like that you might end up with some HUUUUUUGE queues at some hours and no one wants that.

Servers that play against HoD will eventually stop investing time and money into WvW if the nightcapping continues. There is no point to invest so much when it’ll be taken away when everyone is sleeping or working. What will eventually happen is lower WvW participation against HoD. HoD will end up playing with themselves which will be fun for no one.
The problem as I see it is that eventually, everyone becomes the loser because of how the system was designed.

All three of these servers are pretty even primetime but the night crew on HoD is just so overwhelming. There is really nothing you can do for this mechanic wise that doesnt alienate some portion of the playerbase.
ANet needs to step in and coerce/force GUILDS (not individuals) to swap servers and make it as painless a process as possible.
Maybe combine say the top 3 tiers points wise? Like 3v3v3 fighting over 12 maps? HoD would get two weak servers and SBI/ET/JQ would be mixed in with the medium servers map-wise?
So yay some fixes!… Too bad we still suck and half our skills are still broken or woefully UP (every single Vampiric trait)
At first it felt exactly as you described, aimless wandering followed by some zergs to take a keep.
Now that I am involved in a guild and on a server where people care and are not just out doing jump puzzles its an AWESOME time. I am sitting at work counting down the hours until reset…. going to be amazing tonight!
It is amazing the way everyone defending T/M/G are playing those classes. Seriously go start a tourny right now. Count the number of these classes on each team, I would bet ANYTHING the team with the higher number wins.
Its not even as much about the T/M its really the Guards. In a game mode about capping points a class that NEEDS 2 people to kill will ruin games. Two guards on a team and you may as well concede right from the start.

if you are talking spvp = 8v8, yeah there are a lot of thieves, less mesmers honestly, but a very lot of thieves

100% true. sPvP is thieves and warriors going glass cannon, tPvP is just mesmer and guardians.
To be honest I am not sure why everyone is complaining about the Mesmer here… they are the least played class and actually take a modicum of skill. Guardians are the real OP class, they take almost no thought and can hold points forever/rez teammates too easily. Look at most of the threads about silly team comps, they all rely on multiple Guards.
Domination maps are ALWAYS going to be too good for classes that want to bunker down and just tank. ANet needs multiple map types if we ever want to see balanced teams.

No, its not.
It’s less healthy in terms of player activity than a certain other heavily hyped game was at 3 weeks in, and that didn’t turn out to well. There are already a lot of zones without enough people in them to complete the events, even during peak hours. It certainly doesn’t look good, which as much as I have issue with the game’s PvP I am still disappointed by, because I do think its a fun game that just needs some tweaking.
I just rerolled and the newbie zones are still full of people as are the high level zones. So unless there is a gap of people playing around 40-70 then you are just talking out of yourkitten

No this game is not GW1 in terms of teamplay/complexity (yet).
DO NOT try to say GW1 was super deep on release. The game was a complete mess in PvP and was just people zerging each others hp down while people tried to support.
Every time a new game comes out its like people throw away everything they learned the last time a new game came out, it takes some time for people to get better and for initial problems/bugs to be ironed out.
i regreat buying a game when the original was actaully alot better.

So many issues people have go away in the 5v5 tournies. Rarely does it feel like too much is going on at one time and the “HUGE OMG IMBALANCE OP!!!!!!” goes away for the most part once you can see better.
The only class who makes it a little hard to understand a fight is mesmer because so many of their skills just spam purple lightning everywhere.
I dont understand why hotjoin isnt 5v5. It gives people the wrong impression about this game.
I would compare it to playing CS Office when each team has like 15 people, its a cluster kitten.
Game is dying, so what are you doing to fix the only content you have?

Necro play is not under powered in any such way, We are viable in Tourney Play. How do i know? Because i play a Necro in tourney play. though i do agree with you on Minion AI being a total piece of crap.( due to not with me no commands to stop attack, and gets bugged on ledges.). IMO Wells, are the only considerable utility viable in TPvP, Though some may disagree with this factor, considering corrupt boon, etc.. There are many ways you can make a necro strong with out being a glass cannon. In such being that there are condition/Power/tank builds people will run. Starting with 0 Life force is debatable I think that it is fair. give us 100% LF then how are we going to lose a 1v1? In all respone to the OP My auto attacks never hit less than 800.. So i am a bit confused on your understanding of necro auto attacks being weak. IMO Necros are good tourney play. Please discuss otherwise.
What build do you run? The CD on wells is far too large for how easy they are to avoid, what weapon auto hits for 800? Staff? If so, you realize what every other class hits for right? Look at the attack speed on top of that.

I can see how it would work in pve as they can tank but not sure at all in PVP.Fine, I’ll test it out and post after how it went.
Tried it out in 2 tournaments and both lost first round.
Minion AI is terrible, dmg is still weak, survability is the same as with condition spec, minions die way to fast even with the new traits.
The only moment when this build could be viable is when the minions would’nt die that fast since I have to admit when they are up you are finally doing some DPS.
Problem is their uptime is nearly non-existant, and therefor you instantly lose all the toughness etc.
Like I thought in the first place, randoms in spvp do not focus the minions down, people in tpvp do.
The only positive thing about this spec is that they take the pressure of you for like 4ish seconds.
I agree completely, I actually tried out this spec since I was already running a minion build and I can say that its no better. Minions are just too stupid to take into a tourny, not only do people focus them down but half the time they actually dont attack. I have found that the Bone Fiend and Flesh Wurm at least get damage off due to being ranged.
Also in that build the +33% scepter duration and +20% bleed duration currently dont work. I am not sure if Hemophelia works at ALL and the scepter one is questionable at best.
Bottom line is the Necro suffers from both underpowered skills, broken traits, terrible synergy within trait lines (Why is minion damage in Spite?), wonky minion AI.
Also I see these other classes stacking boons on themselves… where are our boons? Why can a warrior stack boons AND conditions while we cant do either properly? This also doesnt take into account that in a build like this DS is just an hp buffer since you dont deal any damage while in it and their CDs are still ticking so you are essentially giving them a breather if they want it.

For SOME reason, this stat combination, though completely viable, is EXTREMELY difficult to find.
Here’s what I had to do:
I farmed 168,000 karma so I could buy the 4 pieces from the Temple of Grenth and Temple of Lyssa events: Shoulders, Mask, Gloves, and Pants all have toughness-precision-condition damage on them. Alternatively, you can grind dungeons for them: I believe HotW has 80 exotics with these stats on them.
I had to come up with about 15 gold to buy Khilbron’s Boots and Khilbron’s Coat off of the Trading Post, but again, dungeons sell Boots and Coats with these stats.
Finally, if you want weapons, you have two options. Guess what they are? Fork over ~5-8g for a Mystic Wand, the ONLY tradeable 80 Exotic wand with TPC on it. The only dagger offhand, which I’m certain is what you want in your offhand if you’re looking for TPC gear, is called Malefacterym of Blood, and will run you about ~8g on the TP.
Don’t have that much gold? Never fear, you can sell yourself into dungeon running slavery. At 300 tokens per weapon and 30 tokens per run, you can have yourself a piece of gear in 10 runs! Considering that most runs take a little under an hour, you can grind each piece out in 8 hours. That sounds miserable to me, but actually, it could be worse(see: Legendaries).
As for earrings, rings, and amulets…
There aren’t any… none… not a single one… there isn’t even a RARE version of 80 TPC amulet/earring/jewelry.
Further, the only 80 TPC rings and amulet you can find is in Cursed Shore off of a Karma vendor who spawns after successfully beating the Champion Risen King (the eye event) at the Reliquary Vault. There, you can buy Orrian Amulet and Orrian Rings, two blue 80 TPC ring / amulet.
Fortunately, you can obtain a pair of GREEN 80 TPC earrings called Lucky Rabbit’s Foot off of a karma vendor at Caer Shadowfain in Cursed Shore.
I’ve been considering crafting 80 exotic Coral or Chrysocola jewelry, but I really don’t enjoy having the wasted stat of Power in the mix.

Can I ask where you farmed up that much karma? Was it running events in Orr zones?
What made you think DS is not supposed to be a dps boost mechanic? Was it the 5 seconds of fury you get when you enter (provided you spec curses), or was it the big packet of damage on 1, or maybe the numerous DS-related traits, some of which grant survivability, others damage, with most providing both? It’s not about how you think of it, it’s about what is in the game: And there are far more damage than survivability – related traits for DS. Really, if DS were more of a survival mechanic, we would’ve gotten vitality from speccing there, and Blood would’ve become our prowess/boon tree, for some cool, fragile but leechy build.
Thats the problem though, DS is clearly supposed to boost DPS but if you dont stack power/crit then its function is totally lost. Trying MM or Condition build makes DS do literally nothing for you other than take some hits while the enemy heal CD ticks. Also, the fear in DS is great because its instant but it lasts 1 second? Why not make it an interrupt or something? Necro fear is a complete joke.
Making due and being balanced are two TOTALLY different things. You want to know how you can tell an underpowered class?

As SpencerForHire correctly stated, the problem is that other classes do what we can spec for but better in every way. Also our trait lines are terrible, why is there a minion skill in spite for example?
And yes, downed state benefits bad players more than it does good.
Because the good player already basically won the fight, only to give the lesser skilled player handed a crutch to climb up with.
Its like you don’t have a downed state yourself. Good players adapt my friend. Also, I would bet almost anything you run a glass cannon Thief or Warrior and are mad that you cant burst people down in pubs using your utter lack of skill.
You have to wait for the tourny to fill up before it fires. This sounds like you dont understand the menus.
To be fair, firing a treb into a mass of people is very enjoyable. Its not hard, but it feels awesome to watch them explode from the 11k dmg and huge knockdown/back.
It is amazing that people can simultaneously complain about a lack of reward WHILE spending an kitten on repairs by corpse rushing.

Already rerolled to a Warrior and its insane how much better I am doing even though I SUCK as War currently.
Downed state is fine, its the 8v8 zergfest thats the problem. In a 5v5 it feels much more tactical/interesting.
Can anyone explain why they made the hot-join 8v8 and the tourny mode 5v5. A lot of peoples complaining about certain classes (especially glass cannons) can be chalked up to the 8v8 zergfest.
If the maps were designed for 5v5 WHY THE HELL isnt the most common play mode in support of this? Do they not want sPvP to be practice for tournies? Is it purely for Glory grinding?
If it is purely to grind glory i think they should make that more clear somewhere in game, people would treat it less seriously since its kind of a joke as it is and would play tourny a lot more, which is a good thing since its where the game is most balanced.
The game just released 3 weeks ago. Let them get the HUGE bugs out of the way first. PvP takes a lot more skill/development resources than PvE.
I personally will give them 3 months to get private tourny and ELO/Team ELO features implemented before I start thinking about quitting.
Although some official words would do wonders to ease everyones minds.

BiP is blood is power I take it? He doesnt say its useless, he says Mesmers get a version that is 100x better AND lasts longer. I agree BiP isnt useless but its not particularly good either. One condition per tick is far too low considering how fast people can stack different conditions on you. Also, if its removing say 1 Vulnerability stack instead of 10 Bleed stacks its pretty bad.
I even like taking BiP but its more because its usable as compared to a host of really really poor skills rather than because it is intrinsically good.
Even when they do attack they do like 40 dmg at lvl 80 with all the +minion dmg traits.
You realize OP that thieves might have the best downed state? Try another classes (Engy, Ranger) and see how you feel afterward.
Switch to Necro for some pvp, you will be back on your Ele in no time.

Essentially Necros have a ton of bugs right now and a crapload of totally useless traits as well as wonky minion AI and some really bad weapons skills.
Right now the best Necro is a Mesmer.
Essentially 1v1 with Mesmer, you die. As a necro 1v1 with anyone, you die. Its just the current state of the game sadly.
