I didnt even think about the holiday content dungeons, would be cool to have like a set of “regular” fractals and a set of “event” fractals that were made up from previous content that rotated away.
Excellent dungeon all around, very PUG friendly.
@nexxe, I am pretty sure we were in the same group actually for that run you just described. We almost wiped on the bosses but pulled it out and I think that made it a lot more enjoyable.
Title basically says it all, this is an awesome dungeon and it would be a shame if it just disappears after the event is over. On the other hand if it stays where it is and they made it into a permanent dungeon it would just feel like another CoF.
I think they should truncate part of it, keep the final boss and maybe the training room with the core and turn it into another fractal. That way FotM will be bigger AND we get to keep a cool dungeon they put a lot of hard work into.
If everybody had exactly the same thing, there would be no value in having anything.
Your value system seems to be based on a need to feel superior to someone else becuase you have something they don’t .. some of us don’t put any value on being unique snowflakes, we’re comfortable with who we are and are content that things have a value of themselves and get pleasure from having them.
We don’t care a kitten who else has them, it doesn’t mean anything to me you have one as well; in fact what you have is entirely irrelevant to me, why does what I have matter to you?
Because it does matter to him. Why are you underselling his values in comparison to yours? Much of what drives the world economy and the GW2 economy is that exact statement. Having different or more than someone else is the reason many people work hard and make money/items in game and out. If its not your driving force for doing things then thats fine, just understand that there is a rather large segment of humanity where it is the driving force.
Since this game wants to cater to as large a segment of humanity as it can, it is a business after all, sometimes they will do things that you dont like to appease another set of the audience.
For a ton of background reading on different audience types and why they all need to be catered to to be successful, I suggest reading Mark Rosewaters articles on Psychographics on MTG.com. Really insightful, IMO.
Myrm,
Could you do a quick trait overview of a regen heavy necro build? It sounds kind of interesting.
The youtube video is set to private so we cant watch it.
That was it really, just wanted to say I like the event a lot so far even if the rest of the forum is filled with its usual rage threads.
The toy event took about 20 minutes with a random pug group that formed in 3 minutes in lions arch. What is your complaint exactly? Do you just not like playing with others at all?
Go practice in sPvP where there is nothing to distract you from what they are ACTUALLY doing. No random mobs or anything or tons of zerg to get in the way.
Condition Necros actually have extremely good game against Thieves. Not so much Power/Crit necros though.
Oh christ the fainess squad are here again!
I dont think it’s ‘fair’ that some people have a precursor and i don’t – i dont think its fair that some people have the ascended back slot items and i dont – i dont think its fair that some people bought gems early and i now have to pay 5x the price they did 0 i don’t think its fair some people have legendaries and others dont.
Will you fairness brigade get a chuffing grip and stop whining. They solve and issue for you and you create them a backlog by asking for refunds that will NEVER happen – Great idea lads, make Anet waste their time on shutting all you whingers up instead of fixing the other bugs still in game.
I’m behind Anet on this one, lost shores was different all together – but you’re moaning about a measly 150 relics – jesus guys you earn more than that trying to grind for your 2 rings!
Good job Arena Net, keep it up and ignore the whiners.
When you order things from Amazon and a month later they go on sale, Amazon gives money back right? Everything in life should give me my money back when it gets cheaper. Hell I have an old car and it depreciated but I bought it years ago new, where the hell is my check for the difference? People are buying it today super cheap and THATS NOT FAIR!
/s
I want something harder. There is no reason at all to make difficulty levels. Just practice on the easy ones in the game and dont get scared.
If they really want to build the pvp population they should have a mode where people in PvE gear can play each other on these maps in addition to sPvP. This would let more people experience the actual pvp in this game (WvW is not pvp). Then they could have the tournaments be just for sPvP for balance but let hotjoin be PvE gear.
I just dont understand how this game doesnt force you to stay in the world if in combat for like 30 seconds or a minute. Every other MMO EVER has done this, hell original EQ did this (didnt play UO so I dont know about it).
Mesmers are just more in line with the rest of the professions instead of being the out and out BEST. Sorry you cant just faceroll people anymore.
Current #2 Player on the tPvP QP Leader boards is a glass cannon Necro
just thought I’d mention that
I dont suppose you happen to have his build anywhere? I want to switch to a glass cannon build as I am getting tired of my current condition/tanky necro (Rabid gear).
Necros are for sure one of the best WvW classes, Epidemic alone will ruin a whole squad if you get lucky with the timing and have some focus on your target (so that they have tons of bleeds/poison/vuln). Staff with Greater Marks has a silly range on it due to being able to lay the center at 1200 and the aoe radius will hit them further out than this. You have plague form which is a moving aoe blind. Basically you should do Condition damage and just spam AoE attacks, between 4 staff skills and 2 aoe on S/D PLUS life transfer in deathshroud all you cast are AoE attacks that stack conditions.
I have to say, I like it, low level people would have the option of doing a slightly harder run to lvl up but still able to get in groups with people who are in tier.
So I just did 12 today. I then joined a group for 10 which I was forced to leave part way through because they had found some bug that let them skip half the dredge fractal…
This is going to become a serious problem if these bugs are not fixed soon, people will be higher level than they should be because they used some bug to get there.
Fix this asap.
I like how you want it fixed not because its a bug, but because you think you are leet for getting to 12 and dont want the “scrubs” to have the same fractal level.
I could do without the jumping puzzles though. This is Guild Wars, not Super Mario Wars.
I wish there was more jump puzzles. It separates the people who can play games from people who just play RPGs where no twitch skill or quick thinking is required.
I swear some of you dont read map chat. People are looking for level 1 ALL THE TIME in Sea of Sorrows. Yes right now the people who are rushing ahead are at the high levels but the vast majority of the playerbase is still at the first few. Once you get to 10+ you can get the rings which is all you should be there for anyway. Not like having a huge fractal number gets you anything other than kitten.
NO WAY! PEOPLE ARE PLAYING THE NEW CONTENT THAT JUST CAME OUT! NEWS AT 11!
Give it a week or two then people will be back to running everything again. Why dont you run the fractal dungeon if its that much better?
I like how the people who do the most playing/grinding are also the people who cry the hardest when they get unlucky.
Jumping puzzles are easily top 3 things in GW2 for me. They are a super fun break from regular mmo gameplay AND they reward me with a daily chest AND a cool acheivement. I have like 70% of the jump puzzles and have spent the last week getting them after work. Really nice to see other events in the game other than DEs and killing mobs.
Wow are you guys really crying that RNG is RNG? Some of you need to grow up. Do you cry when people get really lucky off a boss and get a precursor? If you do then DO NOT ever play an RPG EVER EVER again.
The difference here is the drop rate was absurdly high compared to a boss/mob
How is that a difference? You are mad because you didnt get lucky and others did. Having the % chance higher was only beneficial for everyone, you included. Just admit you are mad because you happened to BE THERE when others got lucky instead of just seeing the after effects. Jealousy is an ugly thing.
Ya thats all I kept thinking as we got wiped by them during the last phase.

1, this game has been great. The lost shores was awesome. How did you guys die over and oveR? Are you incapable of dodgeing? I think my total repairs was like 3 silver? Do your servers suck?
I hate how much people gripe, this was a great finale. Yes the first two phases had bugs which is regretable. The fight against the ancient was awesome, we got wiped a couple times but the server rallied together and beat him. Awesome loot at the end and a really cool event.
Also, Haters gonna Hate.
Its not a waste to re run, you still get drops and 5 stones, eventually people will hit the agony wall and be slowed down.
Frankly, I am surprised some of you didnt complain that people leveled faster than you and wouldnt come back with you to level up.
So if you re run the set of 3 at a rank lower than you have completed you can move up to another rank? That seems fishy since you could get really high by doing the easy runs, although you still wouldnt have agony resist.
I knew this was coming.
- Right now I’m a ranger so that’s going to hurt any chance of getting in to a party and I currently just don’t have the time.
- Later I’ll still be a ranger but I also won’t have agony resist.
- I also don’t have a guild (or enough friends who play) that will devote huge chunks of their time to catching me up.That’s why I probably won’t ever run fractals even though it sounds fun.
Sucks for you I guess, it is REALLY hard to join a guild, I know.
Really its 25 commendations for a skin if you want it. Are these the only Exotics with that stat combination?
@Skreemin, ya thats the nature of one time events, its not like you cant do the rest of the new content. I like the one time event thing and they scheduled the big one for their largest concurrency block.
You know that most of this will be here forever right?
Ya this dungeon is just awesome! So much to see and each fractal is like way different!
No you can only go as far as the least far person. I cant believe you are complaining about this.
This is the most ironic quote ever,
“Most MMOs these days make you grind and do really repetitive, boring content over and over again."
LMAO. All this game is, is repetitive, boring content over and over again. Dungeon grinding. Leveling is the ultimate boring repetitive thing I have seen to date in an mmo. Farming an event over and over again to just get xp isn’t repetitive or boring? They are the same events all areas.
Leveling in this game is the most non-grind in any MMO I have seen. What games are you playing where it is less “grindy”. Certainly not WoW, SWToR or any of the current crop of MMOs. You can level in GW2 so many different ways, from crafting to exploring to dungeoning.
I think a lot of people need to step back and realize what the MMO genre is, its a timesink and abnegation. THIS IS NOT THE GENRE TO FIND HARD, SKILL TESTING GAMEPLAY.

Recently I decided to complete all the jumping puzzle achievements. This has lead me to see some of the coolest world building in any MMO I have seen. They took the time to actually design the WHOLE zone instead of just using the clone brush to copy parts over and over again.
Ya I agree with this assessment, it sounds like they just want a mid tier of gear. Exotics are EXTREME easy to get and Legendary is a HUGE grind. They want something in the interim. For the people grinding for the Legendary these Ascended pieces will be the little bread crumbs that keep them going.
I just hate knee jerk reactions to things like this. Why are all gamers so conservative? Its like watching Fox News whenever someone does something that they can spin to be horrible/world ending/hitleresque. Its just a bunch of people overreacting and when the event happens and people like it, those same people will embrace it and pretend that they were never calling wolf in the first place. Grow up guys.
Aye
You chicken littles need to grow up.
They designed this dungeon so that you can run it multiple times in exotic gear just fine. Its when you start delving deep that you need the Agony resistance which you will hopefully have gained from running it those first few times. Makes total sense to me.
I have faith Anet will do this right, and the OP post is a solid idea which I think is what they are going for.
I like the Ascended gear and I am one of the people who HATEs the treadmill. People already do that in Dungeons now Kistell when they look to see if you have exotics.
I primarily WvW currently and having incentive to go and check out some new content is awesome, also if someone has these pieces and I dont the stat difference is so small it wont even matter in WvW. RNG within your damage range would completely hide the extra 5, FIVE! of a single stat that these pieces have extra. For 3 slots thats a total of 15 power, out of around 2k if you stack power.
You guys are really losing your minds over 0.75% increase?
Not every mmo is hardcore. Nobody ever implied gw2 would be one of the hardcore ones. No raiding for one :p
Can someone explain what makes raiding “hardcore”? I always assumed when people say “casual” and “hardcore” they mean difficulty and not hours played.
How are raids difficult? If you mean its hard to get 20 competent people together then yes raids are hard, but so is almost anything where you need 20 competent people working together.
I think a lot of people also undersell WvW as being a no skill “casual” zergfest which couldnt be farther from the truth. Play on a lower tier server where it really is “casual” and people are not always Qed. Then, go to a higher tier server and see the constant Q, the running strategy in map chat (this strat has to continue 24/7 for a week, what raid does that?) and the organized guilds completing objectives that are non-obvious since real people are the opponent, not raid bosses who will just run the same move set ad nauseum.
Most of the people who complain that this game is for “casuals” only equate raids to real MMO play or some nonsense like that. To me at least most MMOs (read WoW) are for children, since the raid content is always the same, a few trial runs and boom, you got that kitten on farm status.
@Avatar, This is what I’m talking about “like buying “magic the gathering” cards to boost your deck…”. At first blush it may seem like pay to win, but the people who pump money into their deck are the “hardcore” players of MtG, once you go to a tournament where the real skill challenge is, everyone has all the best cards and money stops mattering.

Look at all you knee jerk reaction people. Seriously wait till its released to complain or make judgements.
Yeah right, dont stop them from building the bomb, but wait for it to be dropped on some poor country and then complain.
You, sir/madam, are a prime example of what is wrong with the modern generation. So waiting until we have FACTs instead of random speculation is whats wrong with the modern generation? Seriously dude if thats whats WRONG then I dont want to be right.
What is your “generations” plan? Speculate beforehand and ruin things before they even start?
If we wait till it’s released we wait till it’s too late. If we wait till we get official information on it, we probably also wait until it’s too late, because the GW2-Edition of ArenaNet prefers not to inform players wtf is going on.
I don’t wanna ruin things before they start, but I prefer to step on the brakes BEFORE the car hits the wall.
You mean you like to incite panic through speculation about a Wall that may or may not exist.
Look at all you knee jerk reaction people. Seriously wait till its released to complain or make judgements.

Many of your “issues” are what other people like about this game. The lack of tiered items and “Progression” high on that list. Maybe, as Curlybaby said, this game just is not for you?
Plenty of other tier based MMOs out there (all of them).
First things first ANets first event (Halloween) was kittening awesome, for all the initial QQ it turned out to be a blast.
Having one time events is AWESOME, even if I am not there to see them I at least know ANet is doing something unique and cool. I also imagine they will stagger the times around a little for these onetime events so that everyone has a chance to partake in a couple of them.
No one complains when they miss a one time event in real life (i.e. everything) so why act like its the end of the world here?
Look at all you knee jerk reaction people. Seriously wait till its released to complain or make judgements. You guys act like this is the end of the world.
I am glad there will be armor with something more interesting to find. As long as the gear “grind” remains as easy as it is now (80 Exotics in this game are cake to get) then its just more content to do.

Don’t go getting your hopes up, you will only be disappointed.
We should be happy with the one bug fix per patch, this way its only like 95 more patches and we can be bug free!

You are still playing a MM build?
Hats off to you my man, you have a stronger stomach than I.
Seriously though, ANet CLEARLY doesn’t care about Minions and barely cares about Necros. I would just reroll or learn to love Conditions since its our ONLY build worth anything.
