Sure enough, Shift+F5 fixed it \o/
One thing I’m missing UI-wise is a hint as to how the “filters” input is meant to be used. Looks good otherwise
Dlonie your claims that this comes forth out of “elitist jerkism” are not true, it has nothing to do with elitism.
I personally got offended by her passive aggressive way of saying that you have to be part of some sort of elite to be able to trio fractals, and that nobody can achieve a fractal trio as smooth as her.
This extremely pretentious attitude is literally the definition of elitism. If anyone is being an elitist, its her by implying you can only do smooth fractal trios with clerics gear
Again, I didn’t get that at all. She didn’t say that you needed clerics gear for a smooth trio, just that it makes it easier and doing it in zerk requires a lot of skill that much of the GW2 playerbase simply doesn’t have. She may be guilty of exaggeration with the “playing together for 5 years” comment, but that wasn’t nasty, just tongue-in-cheek.
“- You don’t see people posting “berserker elementalist Q&A” so why would using clerics gear make you so interesting that you have to host a “Q&A” about it?
It’s not important to me, thus it’s of no interest to anyone: elitist jerkism.”There was no demand for this Q&A thing at all, nobody had ANY questions about it.
The only thing that came slightly close to being something that could be answered was Nike’s comment about clerics not being the best option, and even that could have just been answered in the thread itself. It literally is of no interest to anyone, so it shouldn’t be posted.
You’re demonstrating the exact attitude that I mentioned in that quote: “It’s not important to me, thus it’s of no interest to anyone.”
I personally found it interesting and was enjoying reading the discussion before it went to kitten. If you really believe that anything you don’t find interesting is “literally of no interest to anyone”, there’s not much reason to continue any conversations with you. That’s an attitude that’s just going to cause problems.
Stop trying to make it look like we’re a bunch of elitist by making the usage of her gear the problem, because its not her gear, its her kittenty attitude
I’ve been addressing her attitude the whole time. She’s been mature, constructive, and helpful in her posts. There was some playfulness in her prompts for zerk material to compare to, but nothing overtly nasty.
But as I said, we read text with the tone we want it it have, and if you want someone to be nasty, you can always find a way to interpret it that way.
Hi, you seem to be quoting me in particular there so lets talk some facts
FWIW, I kept the quotes anonymous to not single anyone out. There is a mob-mentality that crops up in this subforum (all forums, honestly…) where people get sucked in and jump on to the bash-train. I don’t wish to hold any one person here up and say “You’re an elitist jerk!”. It was a group reaction, as I see it.
1. This isn’t the first thread Skady has made, nor will it be the last. But believe me, people got it the first time. A Q&A is usually made when requested by popular demand. Can you see popular demand in the thread? Negative. It was merely made to remain relevant on the Dungeons&Fractals board, even though the topic has been talked to death.
I saw it in a different light. There are a lot of people who don’t like how ‘zerk is king’. Skady found a way to still have really decent times and be useful while switching to clerics. Here’s what I know of Skady’s posting history:
1) Months ago, there was a post in another subforum about her style, and she was looking for people to play with.
2) A few days ago, she made a post in an attempt to have a mature, constructive discussion about the usefulness of bringing a defensive guardian to help less-experienced player, and also allow more experienced players to maximize their DPS by enabling them to forego active defenses. This thread included “Looking for” in the title and got moved to the “Looking for” subforum.
3) There was still some dungeon-relevant, ongoing discussion in the moved thread. So she created a new one, focused specifically on dungeon-related issues, to continue the ongoing conversation.
At which point does that become attention seeking? It seems perfectly reasonable to me.
Was it because she cross-posted on reddit? Well, Weth did the same with his necro cave troll solo, and that thread was clearly intended as obvious troll bait. Why do we tear down one and not the other?
2. Passive aggression to which I reply with the need to talk others down in order to self validate. To directly quote “I have absolutely no doubts that there are people out there who are really good at this game and play with other really good players for 5 years together and they can do fractal trios faster and maybe even post a video of it some day.” No, it does not take a really good team of really good players who play together for 5 years to do what she does at the same speed/more. The whole comment is just a passive aggressive troll bait.
I saw it as a lighthearted exaggeration. The point, I believe, is that not everyone is able to play with the skill level required to do FotM 50 in zerk, that there aren’t a lot of videos available of trios at that level, and that she was inviting people to share their videos for comparison if they had them.
Sounds harmless enough to me, but let’s agree to disagree on that one — I can’t debate your interpretation of her statement.
3. I’m sorry if I may or may not seem pseudo elitist, but these sort of comments combined with the ones posted on Reddit a month ago just do not apply.
Her team is not the only selling trio runs, performing them in time efficient manner. Posting passive aggressive replies like “I was always curious as to how full-zerk trio runs go. I always wanted to compare but I could not find any other trio team that could do at least 10 runs and compare times.
” are simply weird, in the sense that there are many teams I’d reckon who’d love the challenge. They are easy to find, too, just open LFG and see who is avertising. Yet no one is ever asked.
Again, I think she was looking for someone to step up and offer to provide some comparisons, not trying to put anyone down. Text is tone-deaf, and we tend to flavor it with our own ideas about how it is intended to sound. I try not to jump to the conclusion that someone is being nasty unless they’re overtly doing so, because that has burned me often in the past.
4. I apologize for being ragy, I just got incredibly triggered because this sort of thread brought back bad memories.
5. Agreeing with bladex, let’s leave the past behind. I shall keep my pseudo elitism with me, if that is fine with you. Until the next thread is opened by her.
Have a good night
You weren’t the only one, and it’s easy to get caught up in the rage. No problem on my end, but if we do want to be portrayed as a community worth having a reputation that is mature, reasonable, and helpful, we need to learn to pull ourselves together and not act that way. Otherwise the stigma will (justifiably) continue.
bladex, I’m not trying to restart the conversation. My post means what it says: Does the OP really see (what’s left of) the dungeon community as a group worth defending in light of their behavior? I’m not trying to debate the previous topic about the usefulness of a healing guard in FotM 50’s.
Nike, you’re entitled to that perception, and appreciate the mature tone with which you expressed it. Personally, I have a hard time seeing it as trollbait. Several respected regulars vouched for Skady, saying their runs with her have been smooth and fast, with less pressure than going full zerk. Her posts were constructive, non-inflammatory, friendly, and communicated with a helpful tone. She responded maturely to criticisms and engaged in reasoned discussion with the few valid arguments that were brought up.
The way she was jumped on and torn apart for sharing her playstyle makes this forum look like the exact opposite of what Lux is trying to portray us as. If it were me, I’d not bother sticking up for this community when this is how we react to ideas that don’t fit our particular playstyle preferences.
lol, yeah I was just being snarky. Honestly, I’d love it if ArenaNet would replace the search box with one that just calls out to google….
Weth, the search looks nice, but I noticed that a lot of damage numbers are broken — for instance, Spider Queen’s melee damage is NaN’d. Same with the generic “Spider” too. (guess what I searched for :P )
You serious?
I’ll humor ya. A couple quotes:
- So basically this “Healing Guard” setup is for bad people.
Exploring options other than full zerk is something only ‘bads’ do: Elitism.
- The reason there is once again a discussion about this stems from Skadys intense craving for attention and self validation.
Attempting to spark a discussion about a non-meta playstyle is dismissed out-of-hand as attention seeking. Elitist jerkism.
- what people are arguing about is her intense need to talk down on people in order to self validate, because apparently only elite level players can do fotm trios in full zerk comps.
Twisting words from someone who has been nothing but mature and constructive in their posts as “talking down … in order to self validate”. Not really sure where to begin with that one.
- You don’t see people posting “berserker elementalist Q&A” so why would using clerics gear make you so interesting that you have to host a “Q&A” about it?
It’s not important to me, thus it’s of no interest to anyone: elitist jerkism.
Seriously, read the OP’s posts, and then look at the tone and content of the replies. When you’re finished, let me know if you view the subforum as a welcoming place for mature discussion with a community that deserves defending.
I appreciate the effort (and the shoutout :P), but are you sure you want to be the one to stand up and defend this community?
better understanding of our community for the casual outsider, washing the name and beliefs that we are elitists jerks etc.

Sometimes reputations are quite well earned.
A prototype for the new gw2dungeons.net search engine: http://gw2dungeons.net/dev/Search
Nice!
Can you add a search for these forums, too? :P
Seriously, though….
I wouldn’t hold my breath.
There is stuff outside the meta that are still good even if they are not optimal.
BUT BUT BUT

nope HUUUUUUUR implies you are trolling and giving away sarcasm. its just a bad offender as /s.
rats.
Maybe someday I’ll be cool enough to sit at the big boy table.

But this isn’t a repost. Where people get that. Look at her post history. She created 2 tread in the last 2 months. The first was to search for more people to do run with her and this one. This repost / 12h post is freaking bullkitten. People are really so mad about her talking about that, that they make kitten up? Just wow.
Regardless of whether you understand what a hyperbole is or not, surely even you must agree that this thead serves so real purpose?
Well, it could serve as a basis for discussion, if the folks who frequented this subforum were capable of discussing things other than which questionable tactics should be included in speedruns.
Seriously? No real purpose? O.o
Please let me know what sorts of threads have “real purpose” on this forum.
Maybe some people just don’t see any value in easier but slightly slower runs.
Perhaps so, but personal attacks, insults, and general kittenery aren’t a mature way to communicate that. (Not that you, frifox, had been involved in any of that from what I’ve seen.)
Remember this guy? https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/To-the-dungeon-fractal-raid-community I’d like to think he’s correct, but I’m just not seeing it.
Just because reddit does reposts of the same topic and get thousands of karma doesnt mean its the right thing to do. I mean look at all the people in those threads complaining that its a repost. I mean there is possibly no way people have missed reading the old threads am i right?

You and your kittening facts…Will you knock it off already? People are trying to be snarky and outraged here! How else can we let everyone know how big and hairy our balls are?
Wow, are you guys really this easily upset that someone else might want to play differently from you?
Skady is just sharing the recipe that works for them. You don’t have to change to it, they’re not saying it’s better, they’re simply saying it’s an alternate playstyle that works for them and that they get consistent and smooth results from it.
Jesus. Lighten (grow?) up folks. Not everything is a kittening contest.
I think there’s a new mod — one with OCD. A lot of topics have been getting moved lately….
Can’t wait for this thread to turn into another kitten-measuring contest.
Took more time than I expected.
Its been like that since the stability changes.
Grast only gives himself 1 stack of stability now, so if he gets hit by a normal knockback attack, that stability stack will be gone when the rocks fall.Try to keep Rumblus away from Grast a bit, and if Grast does get knocked down, you can lure Rumblus to the stairs in the back of the room since the rocks dont fall there
Or pretend it’s 2012 and lure him up the stairs…
I’m sure he’s still waiting for it, with that exact look on his face :P
No PvF XP from that, though they were locked within minutes of being bumped. The mods must get notifications when threads are bumped.
Very nice
So is he always poppable in AC, just with a random location? Or is it RNG if he shows at all? Seems like I never get to see him anymore, but it might just be because I’m not walking down the right passages…
Aww shucks. I’d been pestering … um… yumaki? yomurki? yomomma? frig, can’t remember the name, but one of the frequent “QQ I hate meta” personalities from gen disc to make a guild like this for a while, but they never did.
ohwellitsnotlikeanyoneactuallyrunsdungeonsanymoreanywayamiright
and yeah, I just did my homework and checked his actual gear on gw2eff. Pure troll :P
Rats. kitten you OP, giving me hope for humanity and what not. shakes fist at sky
(edited by dlonie.6547)
If he’s serious great to see someone trying to find like minded people and not just hate people that don’t wanna play like he does. But I can’t believe it’s genuine. Look at his build. It’s like someone which decent knowledge about the game purposely try to found the most horrible build possible.
Heh, yeah, those builds are about as anti-meta as they come, for sure :P But hey, innocent until proven guilty, eh?
One suggestion, though. Edit the title to say something about a non-meta guild, and remove some of the insulting language from the post (I know the people you’re talking about, and they are jerks, but some people like to take offense at everything ‘round these parts and will assume you’re referring to ALL meta players, not just the ones with reading comprehension issues).
I think he’s serious, and applaud the effort.
Most people just come here and kitten about having trouble finding non-meta groups. OP’s actually doing something about it.
Kudos.
Poor Cezton.
Didn’t get any answers on his threads for three years, then I try to help him out, and they lock the threads.
I guess he’s not meant to be helped :-(
Try managing your defenses more carefully and paying close attention to which attacks are killing you. Combat in GW2 PvE is all about learning to mitigate or avoid heavy attacks.
Did 3 CM groups and I just feel like tearing my hair out. Not really, but it’s just so frustrating how fast people drop. There’s too much of a mess of spells on the ground, can’t properly dodge or mitigate, or plan.
I just find dungeons to be a mess as a melee.
I spam supportive skills, aegis and all of that as a guardian, but geez.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
I’d start with not just spamming your active defenses while in melee and time them for when they’re needed. Otherwise you’re wasting your aegis, etc to avoid 200 dmg autoattacks from the boss, rather than the 10k dmg killshot.
I’m level 54 currently. I’m curious about where dungeons go to in this game. I really like the lack of trash and more plot/boss/loot/lots of XP, but I’m curious…
Welcome to GW2!
At any point are there actual armor sets from dungeons?
Yes, there are token vendors in Lion’s Arch that exchange dungeon tokens (earned from exp paths) for gear.
Why do dungeons like CM give so much XP?
Dungeons tend to give something like 80% of a level for the final reward. I haven’t noticed any giving more than others, but I honestly don’t really pay attention to XP
And is the tank/dps/cc/heals approach viable in this game?
It’s viable, but unnecessary. Once you get the hang of blocks/blinds/dodges/etc, every player in the party can, quite effectively, run DPS gear/builds.
In all the groups I’ve done people just rush in. Being a Great Sword Guardian I get destroyed on half of the bosses I do. I’ve enjoyed the DPS approach with conditions thus far and don’t really want to spec a tank, but may want to some day.
I’d stick with DPS. Tanking doesn’t really work well in this game since aggro tends to be random and difficult, if not impossible, to manage. Doing well at bosses comes from experience and learning to avoid the heavy hitting attacks. Keep running and paying attention to the bosses tells and animations, and you’ll notice a significant improvement soon enough. Necros suck in dungeons, so since you’re not a necro, you should be fine.
If anybody can answer these questions I’d really appreciate it.
Better late than never, yeah?
I thought about sending one of these to Lauren IRL, but that would probably just get me on some DHS watchlist or something. Fortunately, these are easy to DIY.
You need a more effective poking stick.
Can we get this stickied? It’s a useful bit of information to have.

Did they fix glitching into CoE when it’s contested? I wanted to do some dungeons after 2 months and it ports me back outside the gate when the popup for open explorable/path mode should happen. o.O
That was like…the only good thing about CoE.
Still works.
Are you sure? Because when I try to jump in, which is something I was able to pull off consistently before, it teleports me in front of the gate – this has NEVER occured to me before.
Imagine if there was a small spot which popped up the dungeon entrance select screen, they’ve put a “teleporter” in front of the gates there instead. That’s how I imagine it, anyway. I’ve seen such a “quick and dirty” bug fix before, in older games, many times.
Sounds like the balcony in CM, or the ooze coral safespot in Arah p1. It’s a popular bandaid for this game.
squish
Anyone else ever see this: Every story path I do gives me 13s, and every explorable path is giving me 26s (or something like that). It’s like I’m stuck on permanently maxed out DR, though it’s the first time I’ve run these paths in a week or two at least.
Infraction tax, maybe? :P
Here https://youtu.be/K4U4bUt-xlE is a version without getting hit. Some mistakes and weird stuff but does the concept seem ok?
I like it better than the first one. It’s about as exciting to watch as any solo that’s more or less kiting around a pillar, but the extra challenges you added (at level, no dodge, no damage) make it much more interesting. That, and I can’t even imagine the amount of solo AC farming you’ve been doing to get the troll RNG to play nice :P
One suggestion for the video, at the beginning where you list the conditions of the fight, add that it’s at level.
we made Unrelenting Assault evade for its duration. It was too punishing to be locked into a skill where you had no control over your character.

Condolences. Here’s a new one for your sig.
Oh, haha, I thought that there was some new way to bug her out. She’s a buggy old bat, I’m always surprised by the odd ways that she breaks / gets exploited.
That trick works with a lot of other transformations, too
Arah P4 is soloable. An ele can solo Simin with some great RNG
Every class can do it (No clue if Sin/Zerk Necro can actually) as long as you have the Guild Banner Tonic
…go on…
Pessimism is the only way to survive in the bitter wasteland known as dungeon forums.
“Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 never changes.”
Yep, you can solo some of them.
AC story is easy. TA forward and up are pretty easy, though the last boss drags on and is good to bring a party in for time’s sake. Arah p2 and p3 are a bit tougher, but also popular to solo. CM p1/p3 are also popular for solos, and SE p1 isn’t too bad either.
Some paths have gimmicks that require multiple players, such as CoEp123, Arah p1/p4, CoFp12, etc. But other than that, most can be soloed with enough practice.
He said something that was widely interpreted that way. But the quote was more: “This content is not the CGC, and takes place in the open-world” which doesn’t really rule out open-world CGC. He was describing a different piece of content, not making a statement about CGC.
Honestly, I’m just being a dong in my post above. I’d like to think that their CGC is nothing like the content I described. But, considering what we’ve seen and heard from them since launch, I do somewhat expect my description to be spot-on.
This is a game for casual players who don’t like having to improve their skills in order to progress — players who are looking for a challenge (other than staying awake in a zerg or overcoming boredom long enough to grind out some shiney) have been routinely disappointed by the game. I’d like to think that can change, but I’m certainly not expecting it to.
- Zergable, open-world “raids” on a static timer.
- No party control/kicking, just ‘luck of the draw’ RNG based on who’s in your map instance.
- kitten support and maintenance support for the first few months after HoT launch, shortly followed by complete abandonment and neglect.
- Nonsensical reward structures that are disproportionate to the contents’ difficulty levels.
- Complete lack of community involvement in shaping the iterations of the content (if iterations even occur).
Wait, was the question what we want to see, or what we expect?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3gp8bn/challenging_group_content_will_be_announced_at/
It sounds like the demo wasn’t ready in time for Gamescom, but we will hear something at PAX on 8/29.
We’ll finally get a chance to see what they consider ‘challenging’. I personally can’t wait to see their version of raids, which I fully expect to be open world, zergable, and on a static timer.
If changing servers is out of the question, flip the problem on its head and move to EU.
Unless you’re some sort of casual scrub that won’t uproot their life to get better ping.
Oh, and BTW:
If they know about it, why don’t they just change the geometry a little bit? ANet is incompetent if they really knew about this.
Nailed it.
Dungeons are dead, they won’t be adding more or fixing the ones we have. There are literally pages of bugs and exploits that we’ve put together in this forum and had forwarded to the devs with no real outcome.
Think of it this way: Dungeon code has cooties, and the devs are 12 year olds.
They don’t care about supporting or maintaining the content, and if that bothers you, save yourself a few months/years of aggravation and find a new game to play, because believe me: nothing we can do will change this.
I think OP stole my turkey sandwich from the fridge at work last Tuesday, too.
There was a red post about this, I think. Let me try to dig it up…
…ah, here it is:
GM Totes LegitFix it?
No. kitten you. Leave us alone.
How ’bout dat Scarlet doe?
Haha, nice.
Best part is how you point out the cost of Fiery Salsa every time you refer to it xD
I take that back. Best part is how clueless some of the comments are. <3 reddit.
Ask in the dungeon forum, it’s your best bet.
They were party instanced, but that’s still an instance. It would take some work to modify the system to allow a larger number of players in, but not as much as, say, rebuilding the Lion’s Arch map geometry twice from scratch.
I suppose they are instanced, other wise, it’s redundant to mention “five-person bosses”. We’ll see.
I read it as “tuned for 5 players.” But it’s speculation. You’re right, we’ll have to wait and see. Maybe a dev will pop up on this thread to clarify?
lel…idk, it happened on the static FotM thread…Are things changing? Change is good!
But unexpected and unlikely sadpanda.
the ability to summon challenging five-person bosses with unique loot tables
This sounded really promising, until I remembered that these “challenging five person” bosses will most likely be in the open world and end up on the route of a zergtrain.
More “run in circles with 60 other players mashing 1 to ‘earn’ shineys” content confirmed?
Depends. If Wyvern showed us anything it’s that they can link a smaller instance off a larger one.
TBH, that has been in the game since day one. Much of the e.g. personal story episodes take place in instanced regions of the open world map.
It’s been an annoyance of mine, because it was a fun guild activity to take on world bosses / temples / etc. as a guild, but we haven’t been able to do this since megaservers, and it was difficult to do beforehand due to randoms scaling things up and not coordinating.
Employing that existing technology to allow the challenging open-world events to be instanced for a party/guild would have been great. They could have. They should have. But instead we got the NPE.
If summoning these things doesn’t just summon it, but create a portal to a new area where these 5 man bosses are, creating pseudo instances that can be joined until the cap of 5… could be pretty cool. A more natural feeling, you’re running around doing your stuff, boom open up a portal, even solo other players could potentially join you just by chance….
but, that’s being hopeful, but point is it’s possible, lets just pray it happens that way but who am I kidding?
Agreed, with all points.
