Thank you guys. For Necro, As far as reaper goes I only have 95 points into it, so I don’t have Rise yet. In the Builds screen, for the reaper specialization I only have the first set, basically I have Minor Trait, Choose one of 3 major traits, then Minor Trait.
So what should I use instead of Rise for now? Also should I still use Reaper despite how little I have available to use?
I had to watch the whole dang cinematic like twice to get him to talk to me. Watch the scout cinematic and then don’t press anything after it ends and see if a dialogue is popped up for ya.
yeah, I watched the whole thing about 12 times before the dialogue finally popped up.
Please don’t say zerker, I am with a zerker build now and find myself not surviving very well.
I am just starting HoT, I just barely got my glider mastery. I am not very far into it, and only got about 100 points into Reaper specialization.
Right now I have a set of Exotic Berserker gear and a Set of Solider gear for my Necromancer. So far I am having better luck with soldier gear.
So I am wondering what would be a good build for a solo player through HoT for survivability and decent damage?
Yeah, after talking to him for dozen times, he finally asked me if I wanted to have the matching glider. So all is good now, I got it.
I talked to the first scout “Explorer Mattis” I had my Black wings on and showing, and I cannot get the black wing glider. I see nothing in my inventory and my black wing glider is still locked. What do I need to do?
They’ll nerf it if they see a decrease in players playing and with it a decrease in sales. No point in keeping things “hard” if it effects their bottom line.
Watch, they’ll bring back Tribal armor as a reward in PvE in HoT. Watch Liewec.2896 and people like him blow a fuse.
Since you can’t buy new legendaries off the trading post they should have PvP tournaments where you could win won. Not all PvP gear should be obtainable in PvE but all PvE gear should be obtainable in PvP for the reasons I stated earlier.
Nope, if all PvE rewards can be obtainable in PvP, then all PvP should be obtainable in PvE. Otherwise it is best to have exclusive rewards for each side.

I’m not quite sure where you’re able to make this statement like this. You can try to separate subscription fees from expansion costs, but in the end you are paying significantly more money as required to access certain games like FFXIV or WoW. If you are financially able to ignore these recurring costs, then the expansion costs should mean nothing to you since they are dwarfed in comparison to total game cost. If not, then they must be accounted for when talking money.
Over a year, after an expansion has released, GW2:HoT will require $50 (or your local equivalent) since gem purchases are optional. Similarly, playing WoW or FFXIV will cost you $230 over the same time period. This is 4.6x the cost. Ignoring value obtained and only looking at cost, GW2:HoT technically only needs to supply ~21.7% of the content as these other games in order to make the costs equivalent, and this is only after 1 year.
If GW2 launches another expansion after 2 years, GW2:HoT would have still only cost $50 whereas the other two would have cost $410 over the same time period.
previously in this thread GW2s expansion price was also compared to Rift. Rift’s is far cheaper, for what could be more content. However because you are capable to access everything in it for free, except for gear people discounted it.
Truth be told GW2 with its expansion pricing is probably the most expensive F2P on the market.
Other F2P games that charge for expansions also have a subscription available that gives all kind of benefits. Having a subscription model would play a part in determining prices for expansions.
If they did (and I don’t believe that for a second) it wouldn’t matter whether it was .001% or 100%
I had 2 keys drop from 3000+ hours over 3 years. Two.
A 100% increase in drop rate would make that 4 keys in 3 years.
Woop-de-freakin-do.
Yeah, I have played 628 hours in 3 years, and never had any drop at all.
So yeah, what ever they changed it to, I doubt it will even be noticeable.
The old exchange was better. The new exchange rounds to the nearest gold. In the old system if I had 803 gems and wanted to round it down to a even 800 for OCD sake. I could put in 3 gems and get the exact exchange in silver.
I’ve yet to understand why ANet is screwing over its paying customers this way. If the gold->gem conversion is intended to entice us with higher and higher values of gold in gem->gold conversions, stop rounding it down.
And as a major UI criticism, who converts gems to gold based on the amount of gold they want? None that I know of. Sellers plan around the gems they have to sell.
It’s screwed up both ways for me. When I’m converting gold to gems each week, I have X amount of gold and I’m trying to get as many gems as I can. I have to do the math first to see how many gems my X amount of gold will buy, then go up or down on that stupid defective panel, which keeps changing the first number of gems to a 1 and won’t let you easily backspace through that one. If you want not 400 but 273, it first makes the number of gems 1273 and you have to get rid of that one.
You can highlight what is in those boxes and just type in what you want, it will replace everything highlighted with the new numbers you type in.
Go back to the old style gold to gems when we could buy how ever many gems we wanted to! This new style where u have to buy this many to get this many isn’t good!
You must go back!
Choose customer exchange.
I bought Standard Edition from Amazon. I entered my code, and about 9 days after I got the free bonus character slot.

I’ll probably just wait until they release the HoT expansion alone, or put the expansion for sale in the gem store.
I just have this strange feeling that they’ll put it in the gem store, eventually.
Release the expansion alone? That is not going to happen. The price of the expansion now has nothing to do with the core game being included for new accounts, it is literally a free bonus for new accounts.
So either you are waiting for the expansion to decrease in price, or you are waiting for the next expansion and get HoT for free with the next expansion. From here on out, every expansion is going to include all previous expansions and core for free.
Very doubtful they’ll put the expansion into the GEM store.
And would I be able to give the serial key for base game to a friend? Since already own the base game.
Why doesn’t this expansion have it’s own FAQ? It’s all a bit too confusing when they don’t have an FAQ regarding it.
No, you cannot. There is only one key.

A duel is not an kitten (ei peen, god the censoring in this forum is so dumb) contest, it’s a tool, dueling is the single best way to improve your ability to pvp, spvp is far too chaotic and unappealing to new players, regardless of their pvp background.
You give players these tools to familiarize themselves with their class, increasing their confidence and reaction time, and they will use them, which makes it more likely that they’ll try spvp and get more satisfaction out of it.
Especially considering that ANet is trying to push this game into esports, they need every bit of incentive they can find.
Besides all that, it’s a fun feature, who doesn’t want to have a quick duel while waiting for that guy with 30 bag slots who has to clean his inventory after every run.
@Linken.6345 they can just add a checkbox in the option menu to auto decline all duel requests and problem fixed.
In every game I have played with open world dueling, fights between players on the chat channel always erupt making the chat channel horrible, and it happened every single day and seemed like every minute. So no, I do not want to see that crap coming into the PVE channels.
Sounds like you have some sort of virus on your computer. Since it is clearly working quite well for others.
I suggest you scan your computer and get rid off all the viruses and then try again.
And no, they shouldn’t and probably won’t remove the encouragement to use available account-security.
Ironic, as it turned up in my AVG as a potential threat.
Which means your AVG is out of date, which means there is a good chance you have virus/adware causing issues with Winauth. In other words it is your PC that is the issue, and not WinAuth at all. Up to date AVG does not give a false positive for WinAuth. And if you are up to date, it means you decided to download Winauth from somewhere else other than the official Winauth webpage. Either way, what ever the issue is, it is your own fault in someway.
At least 3,500,000 copies were sold within the first year ( https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-the-first-year/ )
but past that and a few other infographics, they haven’t released any numbers.
Just a few months ago they stated they sold well over 5 million
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLslqhBn3PU
I know I read some where that GW2 makes around $4 per person playing the game per month when they take income divide it by the number of players playing the game that month. Using the numbers from the last quarterly report, that would be about 1.5 Million players playing this game per month. We know in the last quarter they had the income of 422,222 players paying $15 a month for a subscription based MMO. We know not every player buys stuff, and we know that people who spend more than $20 a month are a small minority, so having a total of 1.5 million people per month playing the game is very much a reasonable estimate.

You pay 50$ and will get the initial expansion content and years of living world etc additions with it.
chances are Living World will work the same way Season 2 did. As in, you only get it for free, if you log in. So if anything in your life happens you have to pay again.
As an “old” player you will get -character- times a dye of your choice. Spend it wisely and you can have the price of HoT in no time.
everyone’s 3 year old character will eventually get it. Plus, you can’t sell it. It’s immediately account bound :/
When you go to a sandwich shop and buy a sandwich, do you go back the next day, claim you’re a veteran, and demand a free sandwich?
depends on the seller brand, but every store has promotions. For example “collect 20 stickers by buying 20 sandwiches and get one free”, or “here’s a customer appreciation card, every time you shop here 10% of your payed sum goes to your card and you can use it either for discounts or for free sandwiches later”.
We’ve had pretty decent free content for two years running. I say two years because this last year has been a bit of a drought after the final Living Story episode. If you’re played from release, for three years, and you don’t like that ArenaNet are wanting a bit of income for a much larger amount of content, then I think the line back has to be “sorry bud, sucks to be you.”
Depends on your play time and when you were active, having in mind that LS1 was very temporary and LS2 is buy to play if you didn’t log in.
People who would not have access to their computer during the living story season are going to be very very rare, practically negligible. So yes, with the expansion you can expect the free LS updates.
Hello
I have a question regarding payment for HoT.
I would like to buy the expac, however the trusted retailer in my country has nothing left in stock. So the only option for me, would be buying directly from Anet. That creates a problem though. I live in Poland, and I would like to pay by Paysafecard. So my question is just that. Can I pay for HoT with paysafecard from Poland.
I ask because I remember that when the game was on sale there were problems for ppl who wanted to buy with that method, so I need a confirmation first.I would need a dev to answer this to be 100 % sure.
You could just go through the ordering process on guildwars2.com, put in your paysafe card information and see if it accepts it.
There is a paysafe card option on the ordering page.

Hello everyone.
I have a question,
So i pre purchased the hotw expansion like 2 days ago,and it seems like i did not understand how the “core game” works.
All i received was a cd key for hotw,i was expecting to get another GW2 core cd key, that i could use to make an account for my brother.
This may work for the new players who get hotw and the core game while making a new account, but what about us? Isn’t it like the “core game” is lost when you upgrade your 3 years old account to hotw?
(sorry for bad english)
/Frank
no, there is only 1 key. Core being included is literally a free bonus for those who don’t already have Core, but isn’t a seperate key. Expansion is not meant to be sold to make 2 paid accounts with 1 purchase. Arenanet is only going to be selling 1 game at a time, and every time a new expansion releases it will include any previous expansion and core as a free bonus for those who have not had any of the previous stuff before.
That $50 for the expansion is literally only for the expansion, it is not something like “$40 for expansion and $10 for core” type break down.
There are retailers that are still selling their remaining stock of Core game, so you can buy from them and get it for around $20 to $25.
It is after labor day, you shouldn’t be wearing white anymore.
=P
Electro blue would be nice with White. I also think Blacklight would look nice as well.
You will either have to buy Heart of Thorns expansion, or find a retailer still selling the core game. You cannot buy Heroic Upgrade to get a full account, you need to buy core game in order to buy the heroic Upgrade.
Nope won’t happen, at this rate with the fails this month, we will be lucky to see anything further than HoT. NCSoft won’t give them the money for a 3rd game, especially with BnS launching soon. GW2 will now have to work off it’s own budget, and they can’t even get sales and weekend events done right anymore. lol
A little over dramatic, are you not?
Yes, go here

MMOs do work on consoles without being cross-platform, TESO is the best example. I have it on the Xbox and it’s full of people. They also gave people an opportunity to transfer from PC, and it works much better as an online “virtual world” experience with a proximity voice chat and not a chat window.
It’s not dumbed down, the controls fit perfectly, and TESO also has a limited skill bar like GW/GW2. It also looks magnificent, the graphics are actually multiple times better than on the PC, with a much higher framerate too, so would be in the case of GW2. The CPU of the xbone is two modules of 4core AMD Jaguars, adding up to an effective 8 cores at 1.75 Ghz. You don’t have to be afraid of performance issues.
TESO also has a cash shop, just like GW2, with cosmetic items, and it’s getting frequent updates, a new DLC area just rolled out not long ago. It’s actually a game that’s very much like GW2 in a lot of ways, even better at some areas, albeit lacking in end game and suffering from severe leveling fatugue, but that’s a different topic. Its console version also rolled out a year after its PC release.
The difficulties I see here are China, and maybe porting, but I would risk it.
The game would need a major overhaul to work on the consoles. One thing I can think of is Area of Effect spells, where you have to put where you want to have your effect happen, or the triggered effect like what Necromancer staff skills are like. Something like the Necromancer’s staff skills would not work on a Gamepad, it would be extremely slow to to get where you want it to be while you are still doing other things.
This game would not work on the consoles without some major gameplay overhauls. They would literally be supporting 2 different games at the same time and that would cost them a whole lot of money. Those other MMOs on the console were made with the console in mind, so all updates, balances, and such are the same for all platforms, this saves them money, but with Guild Wars 2 it would literally be 2 different games for them to support.
I have no doubt the type of people who would watch a twitch stream of the game are people who would have already bought the game sometime ago. I doubt the kind of people who want to play GW2 as a F2P game would be in the demographic of people who would watch Twitch streams of this game.
Yeah, I don’t think Twitch views mean diddly about anything when it comes to the number of people who are playing GW2. I also know a ton of people who play GW2 and none of them watch Twitch for this game.
You dont get it. I am not complaining about my game experience. But about it that people paid for this game and other have same thing for free now.
They don’t though. All the restrictions and less character/bag slots actually means they do not have the same thing as we do.
These are not restrictions that restrict you ingame that much or at all.
Completely disagree. It would cost them $80 just to get the same amount of character and bag slots as a paid account. Plus the restrictions on what they can buy and sell from the TP, restrictions on using the chat channels, guild bank restrictions. These alone are pretty big restrictions.
You dont get it. I am not complaining about my game experience. But about it that people paid for this game and other have same thing for free now.
They don’t though. All the restrictions and less character/bag slots actually means they do not have the same thing as we do.
Why would you want that?
In the end it benefits all the players, since more people around the map, more money for ANet in the long run, more/better quality content for you.LESS (no none) younger players, because you have to pay. You can see the communities in other games. There are more mature people in games that can play and know what are they doing. free players are at free servers and you can also see the quality of that servers.
(I am not saying everyone is like that but majority of them are)
Its always about game quality when comes to game life lenght insted of population.
I find this game to have no different community than any other MMO. Having a paywall literally makes no difference.
It would cost a free to play player $80 to get the same amount of character and bag slots as someone who bought the game, and they would still have all the other restrictions.
This event really shows it. I don’t understand how all these issues can happen.
Not only that, but the fact that HoT will supposedly contain 4 maps. The expac is supposed to release next MONTH and we haven’t even finished testing all of the first one. Launch is going to be a bug ridden mess. I guarantee it.
They were not going to let us beta test all the maps in the first place, that will be done in thier own in house testing.
When putting into context of what Arenanet said about No grinding, they stayed true to that. What ever yourself feels what grinding is, is irrelevant to what Arenanet said. The facts are there, they are staying true to their “no grind” philosophy.
Anet really needs to be taught the Streisand Effect.
Apparently you need to learn the “innocent until proven guilty” principle. Got any proof that Anet had anything to do with the take down of the blog?
Seeing as the people working for the site refuses to actually tell people what happened, I would say we most likely don’t have the full story. Even when outright asked if they where forced to take it down they simply spun it around and refused to answer.
that gives you your answer right there… if they cannot be open and say what happened, then it is likely Anet forced them to remove it.
on second thought it could be the employee was fired for posting something he was directed not to….
Or maybe his editor thought it was a shoddy article and had it taken down and the original writer doesn’t want to talk about it because he is embarrassed or furious at his editor.
Many people, even the ones who agree with him on the general idea, felt the article was shoddy in many ways, and his editor could very well be someone who believes as such as well.
So what you’re saying is…that his editor let him post the article before bothering to…edit the article?
Sounds like the editor is the one that should feel ashamed.
Actually is wasn’t an article, it was a blog. Blog most likely do not have to go through the editor first.

I bought Guild Wars Two full price, now that it has gone free to play how come I cannot get the expansion Heart of Thrones for free?
Let me guess, when the game was being sold for $10 on guildwars2.com, you wanted kitten refund to make up the price difference you paid at launch right?

Black Desert looks like it is a free to play Korean game, which means it will most likely be just another Korean grinding game. So have fun with that.
dont be naive and jump to conclusions without research. it wont be free to play but still looks very promising. they making same promisses as anet did to us. paying once, no endless grinding and a thoughtfull storyline. if it will give 3 years of fun for 50 dollars itll be a good deal again. 50 dollars for a couple hours grinding on a new map with masteries, kiting, one raid and a new class etc (wich u cant even enjoy on the old maps) seems a poor deal. easy to judge a new game tho, id rather test it out since its same price as some small expansions are.
I did do research, here are some examples:
http://www.freemmostation.com/games/black-desert-online/
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Desert
Every indication I am seeing is that it is a free to play game. Also it is Korean. Haven’t seen a Korean MMO not be a grinding bore fest as of yet, so this will be a shocker if it is any different.
Your bias is showing. Both of your presented options state that the article was taken down to restrain honesty.
What about the possibility that the article was not, “really, really,” good? Perhaps it was taken down for being poorly written?
Who knows, perhaps it was taken down in response to an ANet request, but the article earned removal on its own merits (or lack of same). Being critical is not only appropriate but needed. Shoddy, “journalism,” however, doesn’t contribute to finding solutions to real problems.
Nope.
I have read it. It was well written, language used was appropriate etc. It also was based on prolonged facts, rather then assumptions making it more of an actual report piece vs. a commentary.
Even if it was a commentary, does A-Net have the right to force a well written one to be taken down ?
There is currently actually a lawsuit in progress in one of the high courts in our system dealing with gaming industry and their respective PR misrepresenting facts about their products as well as not disclosing paid for advertising practices. This lawsuit is pretty much an open and shut case and a forgone conclusion just naturally being stalled by gaming industry lawyers via appeals.
Once the verdict is reached it will have very wide effects on this type of behavior from the big gaming businesses as precedent will be set. There will be no more taking down such articles or at least, the entity forcing such a takedown will be held accountable for it and will have to pay appropriate damages, possibly make public apology statements etc. making it even worse for themselves in the long run.
Also, lets face it, this is the “interwebs” and I’m sure there are already archived copies of the article in question including on many public torrent sites far beyond reach of A-net for anyone to find.
I’m curious, which country is this legal case taking place in?
He is probably talking about deal between Microsoft and Machinima (youtube network). Microsoft paid Machinima to say nice things about Xbox One and Machinima “forgot” to disclose that which is kinda against the law. There was a little kittenstorm back in 2014 but no one cared. And now FCC decided to dig in to that and turns out this is happening all over the place.
The thing is that there’s nothing illegal about threatening an information embargo if the other party doesn’t play ball.
Tons of companies do it and you can talk to anyone who’s ever been part of a game review that was required to hold off on publishing until the day of release what the likely outcome is of not playing along.
Everyone is just super secretive about it because it looks shady as hell and begs all kinds of questions.
I’d imagine that after the giant IGN kerfuffle, Anet has little patience for game journalists/bloggers when it comes to Hot or GW2 at all.
What is the IGN kerfuffle?

50 dollars or 45 euro’s or whatever is still to much for an expansion. 20 or 25 euro’s i would have had no doubt to get it for every familymember but its just simply overpriced. Either price will go down within 2 weeks after release or lots of people will simply move on. For the price of the heart of thorns expansion i can get the next generation mmo wich is alot more attractive then buying a small update for guildwars2. So yeh price will probably not go down so its time to move on to the next generation mmo Black Desert for example. http://black-desert.com/ (gotta say i love the graphics and gameplay from what i seen) I dont really want to stop playing guildwars2 but the marketting is just getting insane and sometimes you just move on to another mmo earlier then expected!

I dont understand why they’re barely communicating with us or responding to suggestions.Look at Se where the main dev of FF online even communicates with people on how to improve the game. Our players that have been providing tips and suggestions on how to improve pvp/Wvw are being ingored for 3 years all because you think you know best, and now youre going F2P,well done !
They do know best. Why? Cause they can see all kinds of data of what is going on, something that you and anybody else cannot see. If you can see what they do, then you might be singing a different song to. They can test things out on their side if they feel a suggestion might have some warrant to it.

And it’s also possible he posted it before getting his editor’s approval. Maybe because it wasn’t clearly stated as his opinion piece.
His reddit responses seem to indicate he got read the riot act and can only say his editor took it down.
Wow. You are naive.
TTH get lots of access and exclusives, then one of thier writers posts a critical opinion piece, and it gets pulled. Hmmm.
It’s not hard to connect the dots. I’ll be interested if any other sites cover this. I bet they don’t.
Not Naive, more like smart enough to not jump to conclusions with absolutely no proof. I simply gave another possibility out of many that could be an answer. The point is, we have no idea what happened, and to automatically assume it was taken down because Arenanet said so isn’t being very smart and really just shows your own confirmation bias.

so let me get this straight:
- you can’t compare it to WoW expansions, because WoW is P2P
- you can’t compare it to GW1 because those were standalone games.
- you can compare it to EOTN because that was an add on (?)
- you can’t compare it to Rift, because “nobody cares about Rift or plays it”while at the same time saying “what game kept the same population for 3 years, population slump is normal!”
(snipped due to post size)
I just want to highlight this again:
Anet have a gem store and a stream of revenue. Its probably not Riot Games level of profitability but the added content to the game is it is comes from that. HoT should be judged on its own, not based on some notion that we the player “owes” Anet for patching the game or making it sub free. If GW2 is your passion and you want it, by all means go for it. Anet still has me on good will they built up from GW1 but we should all be able to take a step back and look at it for what it is.You cannot compare GW1’s games and the 1 expansion to GW2 because those games were not even MMOs to begin with, they were never even marketed as an MMO. GW1 was more like the Diablo series but with a graphical lobby, and nobody ever considers Diablo series as an MMO.
Also it is far from lacking in content, it is jammed packed with content, perhaps if you actually played the beta you might know this. Plus more content is going to be added to HoT over time.
I played the beta… Its not “jammed” pack with content. While you try to call others out, try actually reading what I wrote. Also the potential for future content is worth less than content on hand. You can assign value to it but if we compare that to what we currently know, its not as valuable. That does not excuse HoT since these types of game naturally adds content over time.
GW1 is an MMO. Anet choose to try to differentiate its features but its an MMO. Its massively online multiplayer. Steam has it listed as an MMO (I think this is the only third party retailer left?) and CORPG redirects to MMORPG on Wikipedia. Give me actual objective proof that GW1 was not an MMO rather than your own interpretations and I’ll believe you.
Edit: Actually you’re just plain wrong, see the official GW1 wiki http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars
It defines it to be a CORPG which we always have shown to be an MMORPG. GW compares itself to other MMOs, it won MMO game of the year (yes “ironically” since its not a pure “mmo” but it shows that it is still in that category") Diablo was never considered an MMO but GW1 sure as hell was. Either by popular consent or definition shenanigans.
Future content added to HoT after release is very much valuable, it is part of the reason to buying HoT as well.
Not going to dig deep into searches looking for what the developers themselves saying that GW1 was not an MMO, Guild Wars 2 takes up the vast majority of the search results. But yes the developers themselves stated it was not an MMO.
MMOs are played in a persistent worlds, and GW1 definitely did not have persistent worlds. The towns/outposts were just a new fancy way of doing lobbies. GW1 had far more in common with Diablo series than it did with MMOs. Using your definition of MMOs, you might as well as call any game that has a lobby system as an MMO.
Future content is a reason to buy any sort of MMO. These types of games are known to add post release content. Again I didn’t say its not worth something but it sure as heck isn’t worth the same as what you get on release day.
I didn’t realize we get to make up our own assumptions and assume it to be right. Prove to me the developers stated that GW1 is not an MMO. You seem to be making quite the claim without anything to back it up. If I said the developers said the sky was green, would you take my word for it? Furthermore its ineffective and lazy when you say you don’t go too “deep” to back up what you are saying. If you are trying to establish a fact, you better back it up. GW1 had a loose persistent world. I really wonder if you are speaking out of your behind or if you actually played the original game based on these strange claims. Heck even GW2’s own wiki backs it up.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Open_world
Notice the following line: “employs persistent environments more extensively than Guild Wars”Sure there is more persistence, but that wording proves that GW1 had it too.
I am not making my own definition of MMO. I am using what the industry regards as an MMO. If I have to spoonfeed you the Wikipedia and Steam links I will. All of my evidence shows that by definition a CORPG = MMORPG. Furthermore by popularity, GW1 is regarded to be slotted into the MMO genre. I’m open to a debate on why GW1 isn’t an MMO. It certainty isn’t a conventional one. You’re going to need some proof though otherwise its just an opinion.
GW1 has zero persistence world. The towns/outposts do not count at all, again those were just more fancy lobbies. Once you left those lobbies, you were in an instanced world that was only for you and your party and nobody else. Anybody who has actually played GW1 can tell you this. Also in the years I have played GW1, rarely did I see someone refer to the game as an MMO, in fact more often then not when someone did mention it as an MMO on the town/outpost chats there would be a ton of people to correct them and tell them it is not an MMO.
Also a long time ago Guild wars 1 website had a faq that had this answer to the question if Guild Wars 1 was an MMO.
Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game).
Then the rest of the answer would go into more detail of the key differences between an MMO and CORPG. They have since deleted the whole FAQ altogether, but you can find many places referencing it on the net.
Also, the quote you used from the Wiki doesn’t exist.
No one would have corrected you. They would say that more specifically it would be a CORPG but MMO fits. You’re making up bullkitten and any vet of GW1 can tell you it. CORPG is a subset of MMO. The devs like to use that label as it helps GW1 differentiate themselves from the market but not how they did not deny it is not an MMO. CORPG is simply a marketing term that is based on an MMO. You can’t get around this and your credibility has been shot.
You clearly edited the wiki yourself. Its beyond obvious that the wiki lists a change that was done 9/10/15 right as you make your claim.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/index.php?title=Open_world&diff=next&oldid=563522
Attempting to fool someone with such underhanded tactics will get you nowhere.Pretty sure the Wiki states that Guild Wars is a CORPG, rather than an MMORPG.
http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Guild_Wars
Guild Wars is a CORPG, or Competitive/Cooperative Online Role Playing Game developed for Windows by ArenaNet and published by NCsoft. The first campaign of Guild Wars, Guild Wars Prophecies was released on April 28, 2005. The different genre was chosen (as opposed to the “Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) RPG”) due to the perceived differences between the game and other MMOs…
Yet clicking on the blue link for “competitive online role-playing game” results in a redirect to “MMO”. The Wikipedia page proves my argument. Either by definition or popular consent (see IGN MMO GOTY comment), GW1 is an MMO. It may have a subsection it falls under, but it sure as heck is an MMO. I have yet to see actual proof refuting this.
I did edit it, to show you how wiki’s mean nothing for your proof. If guild wars 1 is an mmo so is diablo or any other lobby supported game. Also by popular vote doesn’t mean they are right, I think there are plenty of examples of that. CORPG is a new genre, GW1 and HellGate London, Path of the Exile would all fit in. The developers called it corpg because it was not the same as mmos, they basically created a new genre name that already existed because of Diablo and other lobby supported games, what arenanet did is make the lobby system better with graphics. The later games like HellGate London and path of the exile used this lobby method as well.
You have yet to present any logical or reasoned argument with proof why. Furthermore your sad excuse for why you edited is frankly quite pathetic. It’s obvious you are trying to backtrack your subterfuge. A wiki represents a collaborative effort tho establish knowledge that you are trying to perverse to suit your cause. At this point you really should stop trying to fantasize a world I wish you are right.
PoE is an action rpg and so is Hellgate London.
All you have is some personal opinion that you try to force an argument. None of those game you mentioned used the CORPG tag. Could they be fitted into that definition? Yeah but since that massively multiplayer online subsumed CORPG I see no issue. PoE devs stated they want to avoid that particular title because of the negative association. Doesn’t make it wrong. Mmo is a broad term and is correct.
I edited it to show you have stupid it is to use Wiki, because anybody can edit it. There is a reason why the intellectual community (colleges for example) never accept Wiki as a valid source for writing papers. At best Wiki is a good source to find resources when there are some listed at the bottom of the page, but it is never a reliable source of information and the intellectual community is right in not accepting Wiki as a reliable source. Therefore wiki does not prove anything you say at all.
You are making MMO to broad of a term, using your definition any game with a lobby system would be an MMO. Doesn’t Call of Duty series have a lobby system?
I don’t care what “popular” vote says, what matters the most is what the developers themselves consider it as and they did not consider it as an MMO, but they created a new Genre. Therefore any comparisons in business model between GW1 and 2 are not valid because they are from different genres that are working on different (but with some similar attributes) business models. One business model may or may not work from one type of game genre to the next.

so let me get this straight:

This is the issue I am having. My daughter’s account is under her Mom’s phone number and my account is under mine. If my daughter is at my house her mom gets the sms code and sends it to me. By the time we try to put it in , the game wont accept the code.
Now if I would put my number under her account and she goes to her mom’s house the same issue would likely happen. My daughter wants to be able to play her account at both houses with out all this hassle.
How long does a sms code last before it goes bad?
Do we always have to go through this with a sms code or does the system recognize the account is being played on 2 different IP’s for good if we can get something to work?
I should add she cant even sign on the forums when she is at my house to change the phone number. We have to do it at her moms house.
Her account will remember the IP ranges of both houses, and if your ISP is like most ISPs, you keep the same IP address for a very long time, usually doesn’t change unless reset the modem. So putting the code once at each house should be fine.
With that being said, you could opt to use the authenticator program on both computers instead, that way she gets the code on the PC’s instead from the phones.
