Playing devils advocate here about ascended...

But isn’t Exotic gear for levels 60-80? Is Ascended gear actually a dedicated level 80 gear? And any new gear for level 80s from here on out will be ascended level. I mean if this game didn’t have any dedicated level 80 gear, then it would make sense to have a dedicated level 80 gear, instead of having gear that one had for the last 20 levels as their highest gear. /shrug

Right to mock? Sure, but that is just being childish and immature. Also I highly doubt it would be a disaster. You really can’t spin paying $10 a month for 800 gems on an automatic payment as “Arenanet charging a subscription now” The retail gem cards barely made a blip on the internet, having automatic withdrawal would more then likely be the same.

Also the store is stock full for convenience items, why? because people are willing to pay for convenience, cause convenience actually is a money maker. Not a far stretch to see that having the convenience for automatic withdrawal can also be a money maker for Arenanet.

Event participation and loot

I play support roles as well, and don’t have any problem getting loot or Gold contribution. At first I was just waiting for a reason for me to do something, and I was getting bronze or silver contribution. Then I decided to take a more active role while waiting to use my support abilities, by attacking something that someone else was attacking, and I got better loot and Gold Contribution.

If you are doing what I used to do, then quit it. Always be active, do not wait for a reason to use your support abilities, attack something if needs be.

It doesnt get much more convenient than the 30 secs it takes to buy gems. This sounds like you don’t have a credit card, and want to tell whoever it is that supports you that the game has a subscription fee when really it doesnt so you can buy gems regularly without having to ask each month.

Your assumption is wrong. I’m a married 34 year man, father of a 3 year old, who is the sole provider for my family, and has a wife who is playing Wizard 101, which I am paying $10 a month for her to play. You really think I have a problem needing to ask for a credit card?

Look, there is a lot to be said about making money purely off of convenience, people are willing to spend money on it. There are people like me, who do not use the store regularly, but still want to support the developers on a monthly basis, and would appreciate a convenience to where we can fire and forget, otherwise it would mean we would have to remember to pay $10+ a month through a system that we hardly ever use.

This purely an idea that could potentially increase the revenue stream for Arenanet. Why anybody who like this game and Arenanet would be against an idea that could potentially increase their revenue stream, which then correlates to an even better game for us, is beyond me.

No need for such hostility. Should be ashamed of yourselves.

Anyways, back on topic, and if you cannot be mature about it, please do not respond.

There could be many people like me, who really won’t use anything on the store, at least not on a regular basis, but still wants to support the developers on a monthly basis. It can be easy to forget to spend $10+ a month when one is not using the store. Having some kind of subscription model for those who want to support the developers and have the convenience of firing and forgetting could be a very good revenue stream. The subscription model would not give any advantages, just something that is convenient.

This really is just for convenience. I think it would be great if Arenanet setup a subscription where it will automatically charge the credit/debit card every month for X amount of money, and the subscriber is automatically credited X amount of Gems depending on how much the subscription is.

Heavy Moldy bag, 2 weeks after release I was selling them for 2 silver and some copper and I just sold the last one for 68 copper.

There are 1000+ heavy moldy bags on the TP, and you wonder why the price is 68 copper? 2 weeks into the game, there were not nearly as many people able to make those yet, and nearly everyone and their dog can make them now.

I 100% agree with what you said but whats wrong if I want to put the time and effort into making a lot of gold? As the game stands right now you can put all the time in the world into the game and your not going to make a lot of gold.[/quote]

again, not seeing what the problem is. Just because you cannot get rich for the sake of being rich is not a real issue. Besides you can make a lot of gold, it just takes a lot of time to do it, so the option is there, it just isn’t as fast as you like it. So, there is no problem.

Perhaps because everyone and their dog can collect materials, and there is zero competition for nodes. I can’t think of any other MMO that allows you the ability to collect from every resource node, let alone making resource nodes be basically character bound and not world bound so there is no competition for the nodes. That is why materials are going down in price. 2 silver is way to much for something that is a huge abundance of and something that everyone can collect easily on their own.

DId you even read my first post? Go back to the first page, I said you can make enough gold to buy what you need but you will never be wealthy or rich.

Sooo, there is no problem then. you can’t get rich, no big deal, doesn’t even matter, well except for you, and perhaps very very very few people who want to be rich just for the sake of being rich.

So yeah, there is no problem.

This thread reminds me to do something.

Thank you Anet for making sure that the economy stays in check, thank you for making gold actually worth something, and not easy mode to come by like what the OP wants, which would only cause inflation. Anet, you did the right thing, thank you.

Hunger Games world event?

you mean battle royale right?

much better movie and not some holywood ripoff.

Lol at calling Hunger Games a Hollywood ripoff, when it was a book series before it was a movie. Battle Royale got its inspiration from history, wasn’t an original idea to begin with. Hunger Games was inspired by reality TV and the Iraq war.

Heck the idea people fighting till the death in some kind of arena isn’t new either, it is at least thousands of years old. =D

Was letting everyone be ranged AND melee a bad decision?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I think because there is no trinity, it became necessary to have everyone being melee and ranged, so that everyone can share the damage being given from the mob. Since there is no trinity, there really is no aggro, the mob basically attacks who ever is the closest.

Why is it called "Guild Wars"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

eisberg.2379

Doesn’t matter what the initial intention was during the development of Guild Wars 1, that is completely irrelevant. All that matter is what is released when the game releases. When GW1 released, Guild Wars was in reference to the event that happened before GW1 began, despite what was the initial intention was when development began.

I played World of Warcraft for 3 years straight never doing any raid, except for UBRS, only doing the Dailies for the Dragon mount in Burning Crusade. What did I do for 3 years? Playing lots of alts, and running many of them through Max level 5 man dungeons, and then to the Heroic versions when Heroics were added. As far as I can tell, Guild Wars 2 is meant for people who probably didn’t do raids, and considering that it was always a minority who ever did raids, that is a lot of people. Raids are not needed in an MMO, majority of the players don’t even use them. It is refreshing to know that a developer is actually going to be making content that the majority is going to use, instead of spending so much time and money making content that a minority will use.

The mindless zerg is a result of removing the Holy Trinity from the game…

Rift has the Holy Trinity, and the Rift events were still just winning by zerging. The mindless zerg has nothing to do with not having a holy trinity, it is because there are so many people currently and the population hasn’t spread out because this game is still really new.

One problem, what you are asking for is very subjective. For example, I felt like the swamp heart quest didn’t take any longer then another other heart, and felt like it was fun.

Could you go back to a "standard" MMO?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eisberg.2379

eisberg.2379

Nope. But that has nothing to do with Guild Wars 2. I quit playing the “Standard” MMO about nearly 5 years ago, with SWTOR pulling me in for a brief moment because I thought it was actually going to be different, but it ended up being a year 2006 Standard MMO -.-

This is one game where playing during the non peak times can actually be an advantage. I get to play during non peak times, and ever since I entered Kessex, I have seen lot of DEs fail and seen the event that happens because of the failure.

I think things will eventually even out population wise in the leveling zones, so there isn’t a herd at every DE. It’ll probably get to the point where Arenanet will just need to make adjustments to the level 80 zones (if that is where the bulk of the player base is hanging out) so that failures happen more often, but they probably won’t have to do that for all the zones.
