so let me get this straight:

- you can’t compare it to WoW expansions, because WoW is P2P
- you can’t compare it to GW1 because those were standalone games.
- you can compare it to EOTN because that was an add on (?)
- you can’t compare it to Rift, because “nobody cares about Rift or plays it”

while at the same time saying “what game kept the same population for 3 years, population slump is normal!”

This guy gets it. Some of the people here are just irrational. If you want to buy the game, I don’t think anyone is judging, just don’t argue that its worth the asking price based on what we know about it. If we are jousting with words, GW1 considers EotN to be an expansion and its utterly impossible to claim that HoT has more content than that. (Again all based on what we know so far)

cut this out because I didn’t want to inflate post size

For some reason it won’t show post name, this is a reply to Phoebe Ascension

Those professions from GW1 are by far more intricate. Lets be honest, traits/specs don’t make up for the fact that in GW1 handed you a ton of choices by skills. You had depth to the build system without having to be locked to an armor set by stats. (too much, yeah yeah I know insigs :P) The revenant is not a huge deal but it is at least good to have another profession. Furthermore, the mere addition of an extra elite spec in no way compares to how many additional skills were added in the GW1 expansions, including EotN with their PvE skills. (lets not forget that in 2, pve skills were trash while in EotN they were fun added bonus to play around with)

Also you are making the mistake of excusing the expansion for content that was added to the core of GW2. I hope I don’t need to repeat myself on how silly that sounds. You are buying the expansion, not giving Anet a donation for a job well done (if it even is that…). Others have the right to question the issue. The concept of Guild Wars has always been sub free. I probably would even be here if it was a sub so just because they didn’t require a sub does not mean Anet gets a pass on lack of content. The business model was defined clearly at the start. An expansion of equal price to the base game ideally should have equal content. This is not only reasonable to assume based on logic but historically the case given GW1. Even if you consider everything in HoT 100% (and honestly I can’t think of something I dislike to the point where I would discount it in value) it is lacking. You mention how a player should not devalue content they dislike. The reverse is also true. A player should also not put on a pedestal content they like. You really need to take a step back and look at it objectively.

I just want to highlight this again:
Anet have a gem store and a stream of revenue. Its probably not Riot Games level of profitability but the added content to the game is it is comes from that. HoT should be judged on its own, not based on some notion that we the player “owes” Anet for patching the game or making it sub free. If GW2 is your passion and you want it, by all means go for it. Anet still has me on good will they built up from GW1 but we should all be able to take a step back and look at it for what it is.

You cannot compare GW1’s games and the 1 expansion to GW2 because those games were not even MMOs to begin with, they were never even marketed as an MMO. GW1 was more like the Diablo series but with a graphical lobby, and nobody ever considers Diablo series as an MMO.

Also it is far from lacking in content, it is jammed packed with content, perhaps if you actually played the beta you might know this. Plus more content is going to be added to HoT over time.

Did anyone else notice this? I have no issues running into a veteran here and there but I swear in it felt like there was as many veterans running around as regular enemies. They should be a bit more spreadout in my opinion.

nah, adds some challenge.

Some use less secure passwords or use the same passwords on multiple accounts, forums, and other sites. A more complex password only used on a single GW2 account increases security substantially.

My only concern with using SMS and the reason I haven’t set it up yet is cost. Do I have to pay to get the codes?

You do not have to pay. If you use SMS texting on your phone it will use a Text message if you are limited on your texting plan or charged per text on your cell phone service. If you have unlimited texting, or have a texting limit that is high that you never use all of it anyways then you do not have to worry about any extra charges from your phone company.

Otherwise you can also use voice call SMS, where you answer your phone and an automated voice gives you the code. This is also free.

Or you can use an authenticator on your computer or smartphone, free download, and use that. This option is also free.

There is no charges for this extra security.

I hope that they don’t force it, either. But what can you do if they do? You can either stop playing or do it.
I have a dynamic IP, and from time to time I get asked to verify my login, already. I couldn’t imagine if I had to verify it further, as frequently, or more so.

It’s a system with faults (but what isn’t?). For some people it works, and they like it. I see no problem with that. For some people, it seems a bit much, and I see no problem with that, either. I definitely don’t see any point to bickering back and forth about it. Some people don’t mind it/like it. Some people don’t. What other people do with their information has no bearing on anybody’s lives but their own.

It is however more then just bickering back and forth or people who have issue like you or not. It is bout the fact that people still get hacked. Those people are the cause of goldspammers and bots in the game. The fact remain that people with two-way authentication are not as easy to be hacked. If a breach of security would just mean that your account is robbed empty, I wouldnt care if anyone would use two way authentication (except myself, cause I dont want to get hacked myself), but the problem is that an hacked account is harmfull for the community cause they are used for botting and hacking. So if you got hacked and I get pm-ed by your account with spam, it does hurt me.

That is why it should be enforced for everyone, even those who dont care bout their security themself.

As for the amount of time it happens. The game learns IP-ranges. I can iamgine (but not sure) they allow bigger ranges with 2 way authentication accounts. So then in your case it shouldnt be needed as often.
But more important. It is good practise by administrators of DHCP-services (the server giving a dynamic IP-adress). to make several smaller pools and segment your network. If an ISP isn’t doing that, I would have serious doubts bout the overall quality of the provider.

The system remembers IP ranges based on the the subnet mask. So if your IP you are logging in from has a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, and your IP address is 50.251.32.56, it will remember the range of 50.251.32.0 thu 50.251.32.255. If your subnet mask of your IP address is 255.0.0.0, then it will remember the range of the last 3 octets, so using same address as above it would remember 50.0.0.0 through 50.255.255.255.

I was one of the probably many people that spent $90ish dollars on the best version of guild wars 2 when it came out. I am having a hard time figuring out how it is worth spending another $50-$90 on for this new expansion just simply to get a free character slot. At the lowest option that means I am spend a total of $140 to avoid a chat restriction, economy restriction and for a character slot.

I think there should be a option to simply just upgrade my account to this new expansion. I would spend $20 to upgrade my account to the new expansion and not care if I get a character slot or not. By going free to play (even though free to play is partially limited) pretty much meant I spent $90 to get around a few limitations and for a few exclusive things which again seems like a rip off for any support of the game before the free to play came out.

I just don’t see how 1 character slot equals out to paying even more money for a game that I spent $90 in the first place that is now worthless and need to spend another $50-$90 to be on par with new players. I shouldn’t have to spend $140-$180 (depending on edition type) to have what someone could of spent $50-$90 on.

I know people will just be like O well what about games like World of Warcraft charging $60 for new expansions? The thing about spending $60 on a new expansion is that it doesn’t give you the entire game up to that point with the expansion. It only gives you that single expansion so your previous purchase isn’t made worthless like this is where you get the expansion and the original game.

I just feel like the way this expansion is priced and not giving a option to pay a lesser fee to previous supporters of the game to just upgrade without also paying for a second core game kind of throws us under the bus. To me a extra character slot is not worth the extra $25ish dollars compared to if I could just pay $25 to upgrade off my current core game.

The expansion would have to be much much smaller for them to only charge $20 for it. Their budget for the game would have been based on how much they could charge and how many they would sell. For $20 where the biggest bulk of their sales would be from people who bought the core would mean they would have to spend a whole lot less on development, and make it even smaller.

Nope.

Rift latest expansion was $24 at launch and is actually much much bigger then HoT. You can actually get it for free now if you’re unemployed, retired or just patient via in-game grind (gemstones equivalent mechanics). Also includes MULTIPLE new dungeons, new raids on top of the standard outdoor content. In fact, I would go as far as say HoT is about half the size without any new dungeons and only 1 raid but at 2-3 times the price. Pathetic.

Now, A-Nets budget might be dwindling dramatically, take for example 3 years of WvW neglect and the dwindling numbers of players there and the dead servers. I mean, LOL, do they expect people to pay them for that ?

Wrong, Rift only had 1 expansion they charged for and at launch it was $39.99 ($10 less than Guild Wars 2 expansion), and it was at the time when a subscription was required in order to play.
http://www.destructoid.com/rift-storm-legion-dated-pre-order-bonuses-detailed-234425.phtml

Now they have a newer expansion, which they are giving away for free to everyone, but people can get some packages that give them extra inventory slots, access to exclusive items with in the game, a title, and something that allows you to wear certain pieces of gear that only people who bought the bundles are allowed to wear and earn that is all based around the expansion content.
Their newest expansion adds 3 maps, 6 dungeons, 1 raid, and a new souls. Hardly call that more than 2x, if anything it is smaller, especially since all new added content that will be added for HoT after it releases.

Rift is a Free To Play game with a much different business model that includes a subscription option.

So using Rift is a bad example, you are comparing apples to oranges there.

Also extra character slot do have a limit at 24.
Just saying, for those who cant get a new one…

Character slot limit is now 67 because they raise it. Much more than 24. Before they raise it character slot limit was 64.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Character_Slot_Expansion

Why on earth would ANYONE need that many slots?! There are 8 professions. 1 slot per profession should be enough! And don’t go telling me it’s for “different builds”, because you can simply change the build on the existing profession as many times as you wish…. Seriously, I don’t get it. Lol.

I don’t know. But for them to increase the max to 67, from 64, as a result of the Expansion pre-order deal, must mean there are people out there that were already at 64 characters. I am sure these people with that many slots can tell you why they have so many.

I am a casual player so I can only get to about level 45 with this method. But Using that scroll to get a character to level 20 instantly, then use Writs of Experience/Tomes of Knowledge to level up to 80. Though of course this only works if you saved that stuff.

I hope that someone can explain this to me in simple term. I have the core game since the beginning, that 3 years, according to what is in the pre-purchache site, if I buy the Standard edition I don’t have access to the free slot because I didn’t bought the game this year, is this correct? Is Anet giving anything if I buy the standard pre-release to add to my existing game or if I buy the retail version at game launch? (I don’t care about BW, I like the box and I hope that its as good as the first)

If you pre-purchase and apply the code to your account before release, you will get the extra character slot. If you enter code after release you will not get the code.

I don’t think they are making a physical version of the expansion, I think it is all digital.

I already own GW2 I don’t need another copy. This is the most stupid thing Anet has done until now. Not excited for HoT because of this.

You are not getting another copy at all when you buy the expansion. It is just someone does not need to own the core game in order to use the expansion the expansion gives full access to the core game as well for free.

This is how it will be going forward. For the next expansion, it will include Core and HoT for free, and then again for the next expansion after that one which will include all previous expansions + core for free.

Anet, please remove the annoying SMS prompt on login. The subdued “Ask Me Later” is a cheesy marketing tactic that is beneath you and spoils your legacy. I feel like you are coercing me into giving out my cell number.

You don’t have to give your phone number, that they in fact will not sell to anybody else and not use for anything else other than sending SMS code, you can also use an authenticator on your PC that you run to get a code.

“Ban hammer” which was on release ->ban every single people which buy a cheap thing from karma trader even for own character(not for abuse). Its not a paranoia, this situation was and accounts wasnt return to casuall people. Some people spent 50$ for 1 week of play. You cant be protected from same situation on HoT release.Example:"You are newbie player and explore the world. You are making some events, buying gear for youself from karma traders(nice skin or better stats) and then BAAAAAAAAAM.You got ban because 1 thing was very cheap. Many people abuse this and you didnt.Result same->perma ban".Honestly->it was fail/mistake of Arena.net ,but was punished normal players.

Got hard proof of this actually happened? Cause they only banned people who were then reselling the item, not the people who bought the item and kept it for themselves.

Gaile Grey summed it better than I could in another one of these types of threads…

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/new-business-model-equality/page/2#post5436673

Nice try, but I don’t buy it.

I bought the core game right when GW2 came out. Why should I buy the core game again. I only want to get the expansion.

All arguments about getting hard work to get paid for are valid, but if I see a package claiming that the core game (which I am already playing) is in it, I’ll just ask myself “is this some kind of rip off?”
If I have to pay the same thing over and over again, it’s natural to think that way.
I’ll just remember those old Anet statements to the tune of “you’ll buy the game and that is is, point”. Being asked to buy an expansion AND the core game may be something different than I see, but IMHO it is not what I expected to see.

Going to pay twice for the same thing looks a lot like P2P. Even if it is not EXACTLY the same as P2P. And P2P is something Anet promised not to do.

So offer me the expansion for a reduced price. (I already payed several full accounts in the last years – I’m not doing it again.)

http://www.twitch.tv/guildwars2/v/13454741

Watch that starting at about 21:30.
To learn why they are doing it this way.

They stated they bundled the core game into the expansion free of charge. And it is going to be like that for every expansion after this one, core and any expansions prior to the newest expansion will always be bundled in for free into the newest expansion.

So you are asking for a $0 discount, cause Core has a vale of $0 on the expansion. So you are not buying the core game again, that $50 is for the expansion, since core game has a $0 value. If Arenanet wants to drop the value of their own game to $0, they have every right to do that, and that is exactly what they are doing with core game, and then with all previous expansions when a new expansion releases.

Yes, people keep blaming macs gaming performance on, well, because they are macs. The only reason they do not do so for linux is because it has such a small user base, especially in gaming.

The problem is these emulation layers we keep getting. If we had a native port it would FLY. I would gladly put the specs of my mac against that used by the typical PC user any day.

What is your mac specs anyways?

Mac gamers are very small in gaming as well, typically below 5% of gamers. Considering they haven’t been making a native version of this game for Mac probably means it would be to expensive and not worth it for for them to port the game over to OpenGL.

@Drow… Personally identifiable information is worth a lot of money nowadays ; )… Why do you think they all want it? It’s not just about account “security”….

You could always ask them what they may possibly do with it, but good luck getting a response as I’ve logged two tickets recently asking about the EULA and privacy concerns which are yet to warrant a response.

Are you expecting a different answer than what is in their privacy policy? They won’t sell your information. Nothing can change for them to all of sudden decide to sell your information without first getting explicit permission from you. There are consumer laws to protect all of this, at least in the US. And I highly doubt Arenanet is going to decide to break federal laws.

Another point to consider is in seeing that ANET reserves the right to change the EULA at any time, you simply don’t know where your information may go in the future. Hence a cautious approach when giving out personally identifiable information is wise

by law they would have to get permission from everybody again to share the information. At least in the US, laws would prevent them doing the scenario you just gave.

Really guys?
You put WoW versus GW2?
WoW has titles that GW2 will never obtain, yet the people who play WoW are willing to pay, not only because they follow a STRONG storyline from earlier games, yet, in WoW expansions they add like ALOT, so the money you waste is enough to cover the cost.
Here they will add a new class, 10 lvl more, raids, and elite specs(who has ever released such a crap expansion and such advantage),really?
So please DONT compare WoW with GW2 its a different stroy and both gameplay.
Just imagine if WoW had action combat.(as expansion)
would you buy it?

I think you’ve missed the whole point of this thread. I suggest you reread it.

so if im understanding this right, basicly anet dosnt care what we say there not going to budge on the price period? does that about sum it up?

Why should they decrease the price of the expansion just because they are including the base game for free? Base game has a $0 value on the expansion, so there is no reason to decrease the price. You don’t like the price, then just wait for it to go on sale. Otherwise they are charging a fair price.

Why is their tax?

eisberg.2379

Just think about it why is their tax when purchasing gems or expansions? i Just bought ultimate edition for $100 and tax was almost $10. why? theirs no tax on steam or other games with micro transaction that i know of. Does the tax of buying stuff in guild wars 2 go to the government? Im pretty sure it doesn’t and they just want more money. Im not mad or anything but thats kittened up that they included tax unless correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure im right that they give it to the government lmao. I mean thier isnt even tax on amazon.

Where do you live?

And yes, if they are charging you tax, it is because they must charge tax based on the tax laws of where you live. You would need to study the tax laws of where you live to learn why Arenanet must charge tax and why Amazon doesn’t have to. Scenarios like yours is not unusual. When I was playing WoW and Age of Conan I was being charged tax on my subscription, but when I was playing SWTOR I wasn’t being charged. On Guild Wars 2 I am not charged any tax, same with Amazon and Steam. I recently bought shoes on a website and I was charged tax, but from another website where I bought a car part I was not charged a tax. Tax laws can be confusing and make things look inconsistent.

Just wait till the next expansion when we find out GW2 goes console.

They couldn’t make this game for the consoles, not enough buttons on a gamepad to make it possible.

FFXIV has more abilities (3 bars after the expansion, not a limited action set game), yet you can play it fairly well with a controller, even though you need to be a bit more skilled. It works by rotating between bars.

Looking at videos, looks like it is a tank and spank type battles, where people just stand in one spot and have no real need to actually move around, especially constantly like in Guild Wars 2. That explains why the controller works, a lot less going on so switching around works.

What is the reason there is no trade system?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eisberg.2379

eisberg.2379

Despite what all the arenanet apologists have been saying, the real reason there’s no trade system is to better force players to use the tp, so anet can take their 15 percent cut, draining gold out of the system and encouraging players to spend real money on gems.

Aand thats fine because it helps keep the game subscription free, but lets dont kid ourselves a out it being because of inflation, which never seems to be a concern when discussing anet’s selling gems for real money.

Actually, inflation would be bad for the GEMS sales as well. Their system relies on players giving up Gold for GEMS, inflation gets out of control and people will stop buying GEMs with gold, which would increase the price of Gold from GEMs, which would mean people would stop buying Gold with GEMs. It is better for Arenanet to police inflation, and the best way they can do that has partially do to with the TP.

Hi,

I have prepurched and played in the second beta weekend.
While playing this new class, i found myself enjoying it. Tho i was wondering, where did this class come from?
Ofcourse because its just the beta weekend im not sure if this is going to be told in the story line but i just like to share my idea to improve even better game expierence.

I was thinking about how to start this new profession. Maybe if a player created the revenant but would start with a normal comon person without any powers. that the first mission or the first few missions to gain these revenant powers for the first time.

Ofcourse its just an idea and i dont expect it to be true. Non the less, i just wanted to get it on here! It will requesre allot of new programming and such i believe.

Anyways, Thanks for reading this and give me your opinion about it!

-Gio

The origin of Revenant starts in Season 2 of the living story.
A revenant is someone who returns from a long absence, often from death or in a supernatural way.
With that being said, I have no doubt that that the Personal story line at the very beginning (the intro video when you start a new character) is going to have some background for your character.

My expansion I bought disappeared

Where did you buy the expansion from?

What was the actual price of HoT? (tax?)

I have a prepaid card with 50 dollars on it and I think I would like to go ahead and buy heart of thorns since I got it unexpectedly. It has exactly 50 dollars on it is the problem, will I have enough for Heart of thorns, living in the US in Michigan or will there be a tax with the actual total coming out to 50+?

iam from the same state as you . and i can tell you depending on the pack you buy. you will need to add $4.00 to fully cover. the state of michigan online sales tax of 6%. so you buy the $49.99 pack it will cost you $54.00 from the web site . and for a $3.00 tax on a downloaded video game . that is bad but not too bad giving how this state is . hope this helps you and good luck

Then he would be better off buying the expansion from Amazon, since they do not add tax for Michigan customers.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?nodeId=468512

but if he did do that there is still yet another problem he will be facing with mine and his state . and that is this if you live in michigan and buy something from online and do not pay the states sales tax on what you buy . then at tax time the state will be asking for there money. or take it out of your state tax refunds if you have one that is. so needless to say. just best off to pay the $3.00 tax now and be done with it.

If he only has the $50 prepaid card, he can buy it from Amazon, and then just claim the sales tax for it on his tax filing next year.

See Vayne, you are only proving that you cannot argue it. Personal attacks, then hyperbole, then lying (I’m assuming that you can count over 6 to realize that your “less than half a dozen people” is a lie), then trying to say it’s not an issue because of the number of people complaining…

If you could defend it, you would say it’s not intrusive, or that it’s not a similar strategy to the ones used by (other) cheap F2P games. But you can’t, since those statements are not true; so all you have left to do is to attack those who are perfectly justified about complaining on how this is intrusive, silly, and poorly made.

As you have proved, there is no justification. This is something ArenaNet should not have done, and the least they should do is remove it from the game right now.

It is silly and extremely petty to complain about a message on a loading screen to begin with. There is no way around that, it is silly and petty to complain about and nothing else. I can only imagine you people going ballistic over commercials on tv, radio. Or the billboards, or the signs on freeways that tell you what gas stations/restaurants are coming up on the next exit.

Just wait till the next expansion when we find out GW2 goes console.

They couldn’t make this game for the consoles, not enough buttons on a gamepad to make it possible.

Can anyone tell me. I know, that i will look like dumb, but if i have core game. There is no way to get only expantion?

No. Because Core is being added for free in the expansion for those who do not already own core. And in the next expansion, HoT and Core will be free for those who do not own HoT and Core, and then in the next expansion after that will include everything before it for free, and so on.

I am not sure on guildwars2.com, but on Amazon they do not charge tax for Michigan, so at the very least you can buy the expansion from Amazon with your prepaid card.

Honestly now, players are getting upset because the game is informing players that a beta weekend is going on and in tiny print if you want to join in then buy the expansion and they give you a link that will pop up your browser.

Look at it! How is that a problem. Having it in game like the P4F accounts have then I can understand the rage but the load screens? Seriously?

The devil’s in the details.
It’s not upsetting.
It’s just one more little brick in the wall of sloppiness and the ‘one size fits all’
mentality. And as a whole, that wall makes me worry about the quality of future content,UI design etc etc.

No, that is not an indication for sloppiness. It is a stupid waste of money to program a system to determine who should get the message on a loading screen and who shouldn’t just for something that last 3 days. Loading screen is a good place to make sure people see the message and give a link to buying it if one wants to. This is nothing more than you people being petty and complaining about stuff for the sake to complain.

Its annoying as hell on the loading screens for me at least, its maybe simply
the effect that it appears not directly with the screen but pops in a small time
later.

And its each time .. not just now and then .. now on ever single loading screen.

agreed this is a major pain every time you map this comes up. it is not like we do not know there is a new pack coming out or that this is a beta weekend. there are thos who have not bought the game pack for there own reason,s and some of us are still waiting for more information on the new pack . and then there are thos who will not buy the pack at all. point is this is a big problem and hope Anet fixes it soon or they could loose new customers over it.

lol, over dramatic much? They are not going to lose customers over a stupid message on a loading screen, especially one that only lasts for 3 days. Someone would have to be ultra petty to actually leave a game because of some stupid message on a loading screen. You won’t even leave the game because of it, you are just being over dramatic and nothing else.

Is HoT pay to win?

New skills I keep bumping into feel extremely effective and have made certain classes harder to deal with than normal, you can only attain new skills by spending $72 (Australian) so that would essentially make it pay to win right?

Most likely feels harder now just because it is new and you haven’t learned how to deal with the new skills yet.

You do not understand how antivirus work do you? False positives are not uncommon, and almost usually happen on the crappy ones or the free ones.

They can happen on the reputable ones too. I once got sent home from work early because reputable antivirus software gave a false positive that windows itself was a virus, and all the PCs crashed. Some might say it got it right, though…

Really? Strange. I have only seen it happen on the free stuff or on the crappy ones like Mcafee.

If they force the authenticator on me, I’ll just delete the game.

If they were to do that, what is wrong with using the authenticator?

What’s wrong with not using it? It’s much less effort for me to delete the game than to be annoyed by that thing.

How often does your IP change with your Internet service provider? I have only put in the code I get from SMS 1 time, because it remembers the network range you logged on from and you no don’t have to use the authenticator until you log on with a different IP that is not with in the same range. At least in the US, you’ll keep the same IP for many many months, I haven’t seen a new IP from my ISP for 6 months now, and that was only because I needed to reset my modem to get the free speed increase they gave me.

So if something so petty and minor as that would stop you from playing the game, I am surprised you are playing the game at all, cause obviously you really don’t like that game.

Hidden Arcana story quest bugged

Its not bugged, at beggining of exploding crystals field, Their is a shimmering box, stand inside and you will receive a Fragile buff, get too The Vortex crystal and it kills in instantly, Hope this solves the problem for you guys.

Nope .. fragile buff only made me knock back whenever i try to attack .. and also with
ranged attacks the mob simply heals up after 2-3 attacks.

Well apparently they never fixed this issue, cause I just got to this fight and the vortex appeared right inside the green beam, I could not get close to to the vortex since the green beam kept on knocking me back. Now I have to start all over again which this is a very long instance and I will be kittened if I have keep on doing this instance till I simply get lucky to beat it. Easy fix, just get rid of the knock back on those beams.

Hope this SMS rumor isn't true

The base game is being bundled with the expansion for free for new players. They talk about it here in this Twitch Stream. So you are not buying the base game again, it is being given away for free for new customers.

I think most people have forgotten that we also dont want map chat filled with

WTS 200*silk
WTB DAWN
WTS omnomberries CHEAPEST PRICE ON THE SERVER

Yeah its one of the reasons I love GW2, no obnoxious WTS/WTB. Even games that has dedicated trade channels will see main chat flooded with it because people are idiots.

To go along with that, many people would flood the main chat channel because they knew that so many people opted out of showing the trade channel.

Is false.
Sorry to call out on this. But Anet shouldn’t mis-represent things…

There is also Season 2 to buy, so you can buy. HOT, then, if you want, you can buy Season 2. 2 things to buy, not one.

Am I being unreasonable in saying that this statement is false?

Source for your quote in your title? Your whole thread rests on this very fact, so you need to provide the source of the said quote.

Yeah, as I thought, you were taking things out of context. He was talking specifically about expansions, he talked about how other MMOs did it with expansions, and how they decided to do something different in that they bundled for free the core game with the expansion, which is something they will be doing with every other expansion as well. So there is only 1 thing to buy, you do not have to buy the core game and then every expansion up to the newest expansion.

So nope, they did not mis represent anything. You just took things out of context.
