Do voice actors that are famous with in the gaming world count as “famous voice actor”. For Guild Wars 2, the voice actors that are famous with in the gaming world are:
Felecia Day
Troy Baker
Jennifer Hale
Steve Blum
Are you on some kind of data capped plan?
We have no way of knowing this, we do not know how many of the files have been modified from the disk version to what we have today.
Best case scenario is you need to download 6.4 GB more of data, worse case scenario you need to download 19.9 GB of data.
My Guild Wars 2 is 19.9 GB. So you have at least 6.4GB to download, but more then likely a lot more than that because they modified files as well.
the chest drop rate is to encourage buying keys on the store. I highly doubt they would do something like that, since it would drop their revenue from key buying.
No
/15 character limit
I’d be satisfied if it worked like in GW1. NOBODY wants it for combat, but you know what, even if we do, that should be our right. I still, probably every day, run into at some some point during play where I really really wish I could just zoom “all the way in” like in the old days.
It’s annoying playing my norn and being zoomed in so he takes up the whole screen. If you’re going to do that, at least make it like ESO where you’re off to the side so you can still see what’s in front of you. Interior / in-doors areas are a pain, and when out in the world, it sucks not being able to see what’s in front of you unless you zoom out or angle the camera around.
I’d always use it for in-doors areas, and probably a lot when running around in general. Probably sometimes for easy pve mobs too. I also think we’ve all had jumping situations where we couldn’t see things in front of us as well as we should have.
I was really hoping it was something they’d at least mention in passing for HoT. I don’t suppose they’ll ever reverse this bad pointless decision though, and I don’t expect I’ll ever stop being disappointed by it.
There is a slider option in the options to move your character away from the center of the screen, and can move the character left or right of the screen using the slider. It is under General Settings, Camera section, change Position slider to the left or right.

373 hours 4 precursor drops
actually I am just kidding I have played for three hundred and sunny three hours no drop but I’m not even trying for it. on the other hand my brother has about 500-600 hours in and he has 3 drops.
Here is my character. Level 80 Necromancer. I honestly cannot remember what skins all the pieces come from, but I do know they do not come from the same sets.
So is the Daily Log in Reward the only way to get laurels? Is the daily log in reward system a permanent system? If so, what happens when you max it out after 28 days?
Do you have longer then 28 actual days to get all those rewards? Meaning, if you miss a week for what ever reason, the system will still be there for you to get to the 28 day reward?
Native 64-bit game client for this release?

What was the 32bit/64bit ratio when they started the development of this game?
This expansion should be free like other’s mmo …..not payable….
Haha “free like other mmos”, that’s so cheap. Which mmo again?
as far as B2P, P2P MMO, the only MMO that I can think of that gave free expansions was Eve Online. So I do not know what other MMOs he is thinking of other than free to play MMOs.
NO! NO NO NO NO NO! No pre-orders! Please do not encourage ArenaNet or NCSoft to create pre-order bundles that explicitly withhold features/content from those who don’t pay early. EA already does this and the end up releasing unfinished or poorly made games. Pre-orders are how big corporations make a profit without even delivering a product.
ArenaNet, please, I beg you. IF you do a pre-order option PLEASE do not make it so that there is some content/feature/item that you can only get by giving you guys money for an unfinished product. I want to give you my money, but not like this.
Pre-order for Guild Wars 2 came with beta access and a 3 day head start. It also came with Hero’s Band http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Hero%27s_Band that item is thrown away by the time you are level 10 if not earlier.

You are some kind of white knight fanboy, who trolling these forums with this post, and is a shill for haters of complainers and whiners, that feels entitled to how words can be used, you are toxic to these forums, QQ more.
=D, haha, I couldn’t resist. Don’t take what I said above seriously. =P
But yeah, I agree with what you stated.

So about 2 years and 2 months and they were charging you about $180 a year for 2 years ($360) with no updates what-so-ever.
You didn’t play vanilla WoW, did you? That’s a rhetorical question. I know you didn’t, because you’d know this was false.
Blackwing Lair was added in 1.6.
Zul’Gurub was added in 1.7.
Ahn’Qiraj (Temple and Ruins) was added in 1.9.
Naxxramas was added in 1.10.
The dragon world bosses were added in 1.8.
Azuregos and Lord Kazzak world bosses in 1.3.That’s just raid stuff. That doesn’t include any other things added to the game. It’s not like they went from 1.0 to Burning Crusade.
Early on when the game released, they released some new non raid content, but it was content that just wasn’t finished in time for launch of the game, every other non raid content was nearly table scraps (Dungeon Set armor challenge, for example).
Blizzard said years ago that Molten Core was the most popular large raid during the vanilla times, it peaked out at 15% of the player base attempting the raid, with only about 5% that actually completed it. This means that every other raid after that, was literally only made for about 5% of the player base. So all that raid content they made for those 2 years, was diddly squat for the other 95% of the player base.
Blizzard literally added very little content in that 2 years for non raiders in the game during those times, which made up about 95% of the player base.
Well, the creators of GW that left ANet might bring us a game that could be a spiritual successor.
In theory at least. It won’t be branded GW though, and honestly, I have no idea what those guys are doing right now…
1 original founder is still with Arenanet, 1 other started up Undead Labe, where they made that console game State of Decay, and are currently making a new mobile device game. I wouldn’t be expecting them to do any spiritual successor anytime soon, looks like they have no interest in doing anything like Guild Wars. The last person behind Guild Wars 1 lead the company that brought out Tera MMO game, and then left that company and got hired by Undead Labs.

Apparently GW2 is the MMO of choice for poor people. Unless you are only working a minimum wage job and supporting a family on that, then I don’t see why this would inspire so many people to quit.
Or for people who understand the value of the dollar and don’t want to waste it away on subscription fees, despite if they can afford it or not.
I can afford to pay a subscription fee, but I see no value in doing so. I do not see the extra value in each month that the $15 a month pays for in WoW as compared to Guild Wars 2 model.
I need to feel like I am actually getting something every month for that $15 a month, and no MMO with a subscription fee has that.
I always thought they should create an automatic Gem buying system. Basically like a sub, but instead you just set up a recurring automatic gem buyig, example, you set up that Anet takes $15 automatically from your credit card every month, and you get $15 worth of Gems.
Can we stop bringing up wow as a competitive example. The game is at 10 years now and still runs a crappy unengaging combat system where you spend 80% of the time staring at a hotbar. Gw2 doesnt need big revamps because the gameplay is extremely well structured as is. Thank god they dont have major class balance changes every couple of months like wow.
On top of this the content gw brings is a building journey, it doesnt release all the way to the climax like expansions in other games. You have to wait for big fights like the scarlet raid which beat the hell out of wows lame tank and spank raids with some specific boss mechanics to be aware of, which the addon system ruins by trivialising anyway.
Close the thread as its just devolving to a match of who can whine the loudest.
Stop bringing wow up as a competitive example? It has more regular players then GW2 has AND its 10 years old. If that doesn’t set the standard by which to be judged, I don’t know what does. The only thing WoW’s longevity proves is that blizzard knows how to build an MMO and keep it running, where as Anet does not.
In 2011 WoW had over 12 million ACTIVE subscribers, GW2 barely broke 450k in august of 2013 and hasnt even sold half of what WoW has in active subscriptions in overall copies sold.
Many MMOs have tried to copy WoW’s model but failed. GW2 is one of the few MMOs released in recent times that didn’t have to go through any major changes to payment model like LOTRO or DCUO did.
Even Blizzard’s next big MMO Project Titan got canned.
At this stage, WoW is more likely a fluke than a winning model.
I remember years ago, professional industry analysts said the same thing, that WoW success is a fluke, and that no other game will ever come close to match it. It was the right game to come out at the right time. If WoW didn’t exist right now, but was to release right now, it would not see the same success as it did when it released 10 years ago.
Hardly any new content?!!!!!!!!! look at what other Sub based MMO’s (looking at you WoW) put out in their first 2 years and GW2 is either on par with them or blows them out of the water. All for free!!
And if you think GW2 is exceptionally buggy then you must be new to the MMO genre. It’s about the same with any other MMO I have played. Especially with new patches.
In 2 yrs wow had an expansion not some gimmick LS
Every game is buggy, but anet takes forever to fix them.“The game was released on November 23, 2004, on the 10th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise. The first expansion set of the game, The Burning Crusade, was released on January 16, 2007.” – Wikipedia
So about 2 years and 2 months and they were charging you about $180 a year for 2 years ($360) with no updates what-so-ever.
Yes, I think most of us want an expansion and if by this time next year we still have no news of one I might grab a pitchfork and join you. But for now they have been doing a good job pushing out content free of charge.
The great thing about no sub fee is if you want to take a break from the game you are not burning any money! Play something else and come back to unlock your LS. It’s a win-win. All my games are B2P and I love them that way.
To be fair, in the first 2 years, Blizzard added some content they couldn’t get finished before launch of the game that was basically for everyone. After that, they concentrated on making raid content that the vast majority of the players couldn’t/didn’t do. With a few exceptions, they basically did the same thing with Burning Crusades, very little content added for everyone, and mostly concentrated on Raid Content that the vast majority couldn’t/didn’t do.
That was pretty much their first 4 years.
Hardly any new content?!!!!!!!!! look at what other Sub based MMO’s (looking at you WoW) put out in their first 2 years and GW2 is either on par with them or blows them out of the water. All for free!!

I would disagree and call that cherrypicking. WoW has released a HUGE amount of content in its lifetime. Hell, between the time that guild wars 2 was released and now, WoW has released 2 full expansions complete with new continents, combat revamps, new skills, and new dungeons and raids.
so wrong. At this point in time, Blizzard released their first expansion 45 days ago. There were not 2 expansions after 2 years since launch of WoW.

I don’t understand what the problem is. Are you wanting the tail not to come through the clothing, so no tail is showing? Would seem wierd to not have the tail coming through the clothes. /shrug
There’s ads on Youtube?
Chech the video i posted in the original post. ^^
What about it? About 90% of that video is PvE with the last 15 or so seconds being PvP.
And they didn’t even show any PvP at all, the whole video was showing PvE only, they mearly mentioned PvP at the very end. If the game was supposed to be primarily PvP at first, you would have thought they would have shown PvP in that video instead of just mearly mentioning it.
Don’t count on Megaservers going away. I would bet anything, that Megaservers have a whole lot more advantages than disadvantages.
how does it get in the way of gameplay?
Ohh boy I see I have my homework for today! Lets try it with only cantha:
GW1 Armors in cantha, there was: Shing Jea, Kurzick/Luxon & Elite Version, Canthan, Elite Canthan. Thats for 6 professions and they had all these versions for Ritu/Sin+ Exotic Armor sets. That means 8 (Profession) * 7 (Version) * 5 (Armor Piece) + 10 ( For ritu/Sin exotic armor) That’s 290 different armor piece.
Now on GW2 Non-gemstore armor pieces
2 new PvP set , Ascended armor . Thats three version from each means 9 different armor with 6 individual piece. 54 in all , now let’s count small things:
In the recent patch 6 new backpacks for every crafting profession : 48
Living story backpacks since release ( Check it on wiki if you don’t believe me): 30
+ 1 PvP Backpack
3 craftable, god themed back & fractal backs (4)
Collection reward backpack (1)
Standalon armors (Like dry top glasses etc, counted on wiki) : 27Total Individual armor number: 165 ,
and Just for fun!
GW2 Gemstore Armor pieces since release!6 Gemstore armor packs have been released ( means 6 medium, 6 light, 6 heavy.)
That means : 18*6 individual armor piece : 108
Number of individual armor pieces: 43 + 5 from black lion chest.
Also costumes: 8 added since release, lets count with two/ each : 16Total armor pieces added to gemstore since release : 172 Individual armor piece
If I miscalculated something feel free to correct me.
ohh homework havent had dont in years
anyway.. you forgot to factor in races as well as forgot radiant and hellfire sets though to be fair until last update they were missing 2 pieces.
so its actually 5 sets x 3 version x 5 races x 6 pieces = 405 pieces
according to this:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Category:Gem_Store_armor_setsthere were 21 armor skin variants in the gem store x 5 races x 6 pieces = 630 pieces
so in all its 1035 pieces
thats not factoring in that gw2 armor pieces are more elaborate then the gw1 models too.
There were also a truckload of weapon skins released. like 34 unique skins released with the champion reward updates.. The ones that were tied to living story like the aetherized weapons, dragon weapons etc.. The new set tied to dry top. etc.. thats quite a number of skins there too.
but even counting just the none gem shop skins thats 1035 armor pieces + 165 misc (calculated by yourself thanks
) = 1200 thats about 4x more then your count for factions
factoring in multiple races is kind of stretching it. Its the same gear/skin on a different shaped body.
i think now you are just reaching. I guess by that token AION has like near infinite gear sets, since they have a robust body customization option.
I think the point is, pick a charachter, how many different options can you have with that charachter.
mostly valid point
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Apprentice_armorYou can see its not the same model exactly across all races? Look at the neck area of the asura and charr. charr is open, the asuran one is closed Auran version has straps going round the neck, charr version has them on the shoulders. and they’re all pretty different then the human version
But human norn and sylvari are identical. so that I admit was a mistake on my part.
that being said I did forget gender, male and female have differnet models which I forgot to factor in. so even though to be fair races should be multiplied by 3 not by 2 you need to add a 2 multiplier for genders so number remains the same.
Its good to be right even when you’re wrong
but yes
Still reaching, both gw1 and gw2 have male and female models (aka it cancels out)
changing 3 things on an armor doesnt really make it a new armor. and even if you wanted to claim it does, that doesnt happen for every peice, or every armor. Some armors are exactly the same except warped for a new body type.
Also IF you want to bring female/male into this, you would have to realize that asura uses identical male/female armor for some peices.regardless i would say its pointless to even look at races or sex, because that doesnt increase the amount of options you have for a specific charachter. Female char will never be able to wear male clothes, and never be able to wear whatever skin looks slightly different on a human.
The same can be said about the armors in Guild Wars 1, Necromancer will never be able to wear Elementalist gear. So really, a more fair comparison, if comparisons needs to be made, should be how much gear options does 1 character have in choices.
ohh homework havent had dont in years

Well, to be fair he/she didn’t account for male and female variants either (which is relevant in both games). If you’re comparing between the original and GW2, you can’t take into account races. While it’s also fair to say, that’s a decent bit of work in and of itself, to make armors work on all races, if we just talk about sets themselves, that’s more telling.
It’s obviously a lot harder in this game to create armor, so it’s probably overall unfair to compare an apple to a banana.
That is a good point. Also, Guild Wars 2 seems to have more diversity in how people look, because of mixing armor pieces from different sets/pieces. I don’t remember nearly as much diversity in Guild Wars 1 because people didn’t seem to veer to far, if at all, away from the armor sets.
WoW: “Mankrik’s Wife”
LotRO: Q – “Where is the bat cave?” A – “Under Wayne Manor”
Yes, it’s a world event. That is what is going on here. You know this. It’s not a question. You didn’t need to ask it. In fact, you go out of your way to use ‘rekt’ instead of ‘wrecked’, saving an entire 3 key strokes. Yet somehow, “What is going on here?” was totally worth it.
:|
What the heck are you even talking about?
The Dwarfs have all turned into stone, and are fighting a dragon deep under ground. There is only 1 Mursaat possibly left alive, Lazarus.
As to the rest of your questions. Their policy now is to not talk about what is in or not in development. When they have something that they are about to release they will give news about that, but that is only when they are about the release it.
So yeah, you will not get your answers to your questions, unless they are really close to releasing it to us.
Low level enemies have never used those listed skills. Nothing changed.
Exactly. IF anything, it made fighting those mobs in later levels not so surprising when they did use those skills listed
Colin, just clear up one thing – There is 0% chance EU/NA GW2 gets a VIP system?
What is the VIP system?
basicly a motnhly ala pay to win faster
I did a google search, and only found that they get a bigger name in purple and a discount in the Gem Store. What part of it is Pay to Win?
Colin, just clear up one thing – There is 0% chance EU/NA GW2 gets a VIP system?
What is the VIP system?
I just want to quickly add, there are some errors on this chart of how stuff is unlocking, as well as 1st character vs. account unlocks when some of these systems were carried between regions. We’re trying to identify what happened and repair those things assigned the wrong account/character fields, as well as levels.
Wait, are you saying that people who have leveled to level 80, when they make a new character, they won’t have to go through those unlocks like that? So what is supposed to happen for people with level 80s leveling an alt?
OMG I want to know too!
Yeah, a lot of people seem to miss what he said there. Because it sounds like the current system is not working as intended, and people need to relax till things are fixed. Cause it certainty sounds like the gating is literally only for new players, players on their first character. Which is probably why they call it “The New Player Experience” and not the “New Leveling Experience”
Also.. if the China VIP system gets implemented here, I’m out.
That would cause me to /uninstall.
What is China’s VIP system?

Are you a new player?.. No? Well — I am.
I know the bank access at lvl 24, the downed state at lvl 5, the waterskills at lvl 22 might frustrate the lot of ya, crying wolf over how easy it is now.
I on the other hand — a new player (1 month of play) — can’t begin to tell you how complex GW2 is compared to other MMO’s. About a month ago I kept being underlevelled for new zones, I thought I’d do all the hearts and then leave the area. Didnt know you could trigger quests, didnt understand what was happening when I got downed, didn’t know you could port from waypoint to waypoint.
I mean… I learned all that, but the new guidance seems great.
Yes Guild Wars 2 is definitely complex compared to other MMO’s……
\
That is WoW with a crap ton of mods, not really a good comparison.
I know some are concerned about whether ArenaNet is communicating with you and listening and responding to your feedback. As you saw with yesterday’s announcement, we do. All of us at ArenaNet play the game with you, chat with you and read your forum posts, and work on the things that we think will most delight and entertain you.
We’ve set a clear policy in the past year: we don’t talk speculatively about future development. We don’t want to string you along. Creating fun is an uncertain business: sometimes things work out and sometimes they don’t; sometimes we go back to the drawing board over and over before we get something right. If we make optimistic promises and then can’t deliver on them, everyone suffers. So when we attend a trade show or give an interview, we’re there to talk about what we’re getting ready to ship, not to speculate on what we might ship someday.
Don’t read that as meaning that we don’t want to talk with you about the longer-term roadmap. The intention of the CDI threads is to talk with you about the roadmap. We want to talk design philosophy with you and hear how you want to see the game evolve. When those discussions trigger development, we’ll work internally until we have something we’re proud of before we’ll announce it.
A lot of the questions I’ve seen posted this week are as simple as this: does ArenaNet have an agenda to never do something? That’s almost never the case, and if it is the case you deserve to know and we’ll make sure we get more clear. In general the simple truth is this: when we’re not currently working on something, it’s because we’re working on something else instead that we think is more important for the game and community.
Our developers post on these forums on a voluntary basis, and in addition to developers, we have a community team who can clarify and be the bridge between players and developers. They’re ready to engage you on these topics. And I know it’s hard for the community team to engage players across all the forums and sites where these questions are being discussed, so I’m going to support the team in consolidating and focusing as necessary, so that we can be clear to the community where you can go to get a response.
See you in-game,
Mike O’BrienPrecursor scavenger hunt…
Tell me again how you don’t talk speculatively?
Please know I do appreciate the time and effort put in to making this post. One long overdue but at least it is now here… Just please don’t make statements that are blatantly untrue…
There are many other instances of features being said that they are being developed some even given a preliminary time table… all to be lost to oblivion never to be spoken of again… I just used precursor scavenger hunt as the most obvious example.
Don’t you think those were the catalyst to making the decision to not talk about future development till they are ready to nearly “ship” it? Scavenger Hunt was talked about over a year ago, along with other things, but it was with in the last year they made that decision to not talk about future development.
Oh gee! Another duel thread!
=P
This idea sounds like a griefer that wants another way to grief. /rolleyes
The reason why they are not open anymore, browse the forums, every time they try to be open and they can’t deliver, they get a major backlash.
As opposed to the backlash they are getting right now because they aren’t communicating? How is this an improvement?
They aren’t communicating? Yet look at this:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/wvw-improvements-in-the-september-2014-feature-pack/
yup, looks like they are not communicating. /rolleyes
Not telling us their plans? Really? Then what is the news about upcoming Living Story stuff, and Feature pack stuff? Looks like they are telling us their plans. The fact is, some people will never be happy. The fact is, it is better for Anet to talk about stuff that is going to be implemented into the game soon, and not stuff that they would like to implement in the long term.
Will you support it? Given the record arena net has shown for gw2 and being disconnected from there fans I sure won’t. What does everyone else think?
You mean disconnected with you apparently. They have been connected with me, and they have been making great progress with the game that I have liked.
It is impossible to make everyone happy, and only, and I mean only, Anet knows if the stuff they have been doing has been good for their fans in general.
All statistics online social media website are all over the places. The only reliable source if you ask Anet and each game studios about the population active players. That’s the proper way to measure it.
Not 3rd party software, not even Steam that has 30million+ accounts with 6-7mil active peak time.
Why?
1. Not everyone use Steam to launch GW2.
2. Not everyone use Raptr with GW2.
3. Not everyone use Overwolf with GW2.
4. Not everyone use GW2.exe launcher to start the game.
5. There are at least freaking 4 examples way to launch GW2.X. How is this reliable statistic? It’s all over the places.
Me. I use SweetFX Configurator to launch GW2.
SweetFX configurator or any other 3rd party program will always launch gw2.exe. So a program like raptr will still capture someone playing gw2, even if they are using sweetfx configurator to launch GW2.
what is CDI?

It is not everyone. Not everyone cares about Legendary weapons. I don’t care about the legendary weapons. It depends on way to much grind and luck. When something that depends on grind and luck, the prestige of what it is supposed to be gets severally less.
Considering that OSX version is still in beta stage, should tell you something. I wouldn’t count on it ever going to Linux.
She just needs a code to enter into her account when she creates an account on Guild Wars 2 webpage. She does not need the disc because she can download the game client from her account page.
What country do you live in, and what country does she live in?
I lost faith in them. Don’t get me wrong I still love the game and creativity. Which is why I will still log in on a regular basis but play no more than an hour a day and 1 day every 2 weeks.
Logging in to activate stories but play only every 6 months is not the way to go I guarantee you’ll be playing alone while others are in the fresher content.
Here’s the bottom line.
2000 to 2005.
From 3 to 170 employees have produced GW12005 to 2007
6 months later the full campaign Factions
6 more months later Nightfall campaign
10 months later the expansion Eye of the North.
During those 10 months they even had been working on Utopia which they dumped
in favor of Eye of The North.2007 to 2012
From 170 to 370 to produce GW 2.
August 2012 release date.
3 months later a new map “Southsun Cove” which had nothing to do with the storyline but where your character can now take a vacation…WoW
Labyrinthine Cliffs July 2013 not an official map based on wiki still fun after 2 festivals but getting old.
Dry Top 1/8 of a map July 1st.
Dry Top 1/8 of the same map, at this rate Dry Top will be completed and the same size as Brisband Wildlands by the end of October.
Don’t get me wrong I still love the game but this is not the same Anet as GW 1’s days with 2 very important founders and some staff gone some of which I’m sure didn’t like the direction the company was taking, nothing new here it happens everywhere but Anet is no longer the quality company it used to be. Yeah you might even say I’ve stopped being a fanboy and I’m now simply a dissatisfied player. The rumor is for an expansion pack for 2015 at the rate things are going it better be a good and big expansion or Anet won’t last another 5 years and that would be sad. Ok time for me to buy an FPS while I wait for July 29th’s 1/8 th of added Dry Top content.
Did I mention it takes 4 months for 1/8 th of a map? Lucky for us they have more than 1 team working on each LS. Could have been worse. No applause please.
I don’t think the real brains behind Arenanet actually left Arenanet. Have you seen the game that the other 2 founders released? State of Decay, by all accounts a rather mediocre game that pales by comparison to Guild Wars 2 and 1. One of the founders prior to going with the other founder to make State of Decay helped with Tera and Aion. Both of them left when they were offered promotions to lead the newly formed NC West division, and then ultimately left NC West.
