best way to practice pvp with friends?

in PvP

Posted by: eldenbri.1059

eldenbri.1059

While none of us are great at pvp, there’s probably a fair spread between us (maybe rank 30 to rank 0 ).

Since I have a bit more experience than most of them, I was kind of hoping to do some fights, record video of them, and then review them. For me, pvp is pretty hectic, so it’s a little hard to stop and say “here I knew you had used your stunbreak, so I did this”

And I hate screwing up other people’s matches – though I guess most people don’t mind in unranked

best way to practice pvp with friends?

I have several friends who are all mostly casual players but like to improve and enjoy some combat versus other players. When we feel like battling other players, we often just roam around in WvW. But right now, it’s tricky to get good 2v2 or 3v3 fights in our borderlands.

I think the best option for us to improve, have fun doing it, and not make a mess out of someone’s pvp matchups are either buying our own custom arena for 200 gold or all joining the same guild and using the guild hall arena. Are there other good options?

Thx very much!

F5 combos?

I’ve been trying to find a standard F5 sequence I can use at the start of most fights. My reflexes aren’t fantastic, so it works a lot better for me to have a pattern that I can use the same way every time.

This is what my current approach looks like. I’d love suggestions on improving.
https://youtu.be/54DzbzXRdIs

What I’ve noticed in my WvW roaming is that I seem to be getting cc’d a lot more, so this is based around the idea of making sure I get to use the whole time.

Here’s the sequence:
Shield block, shield block
F5
F4
Shield 5 (wall)
Gravity well
Scepter 3 (F1 and F2 while channeling)

This is the build I’m using (video is Settlers amulet in pvp).

Three phantasm shatter

I only did a couple tests, but the results were shattering three new phantasms with the chronophantasma trait always gives three replacement phantasms even if you have illusionary reversion trait equipped. (edited to fix trait name)

Three phantasm shatter

I will test it when I get home tonight, but I’m betting someone already knows the answer.

What happens if you shatter three phantasms and have both the chrono phantasma (get a second phantasm after shatter) and illusionary reversion (get a free clone when you shatter two things) traits?

Do you end up with two phantasms and a clone or do you end up with three phantasms?

Thx!

I’m using something very similar that’s also condi shatter. My version is tankier, so I’m sure it kills much more slowly. I use for roaming in WvW as well, and it’s good for soloing towers (except necropolis)

Roaming the new bl maps

in WvW

Posted by: eldenbri.1059

eldenbri.1059

How is roaming on the new bl maps at different levels of the game?

I’ve been on NSP for quite a while, and roaming solo or a friend has been my favorite part of WvW.

Currently, I’m seeing very few other players and, when I do see opponents, they are frequently in groups of 4 or 5.

I assume some of this is because of the HoT content and people working on their masteries/elites. Just wondering if this is the same at all levels of competition.

I totally don’t mind having some camps or towers to take. Sometimes I need a couple PVE fights to warm up. But eventually, I’m hoping to find a few somewhat evenly-matched fights with other roamers (I’m fine trying a 1 v 2 that I’ll probably lose).

Anyone have a sense of what roaming will be like when things get stable?

Sounds like you’re in a good place now. In case you want to try a different condi build, this is what I’ve been roaming with. It seems to work fine (I have no stealth to escape from groups).

I can solo two of the towers. The necro is brutal trying to solo with this build. Haven’t tried the fourth one.

I got to play this weekend and answer a couple of my own questions.

It looks like 15 expertise is 1% condition duration. So 59 is just short of 4%. You can select Trailblazers as a stat on Legendary weapons already and get something like Dire but with Expertise.

From a quick scan through laurel vendors, it doesn’t look like there are any selling the new stat sets.

I played a few hours of HoT yesterday and a few more today. I’ve really enjoyed it.

The best part was that I got to spend some time playing with my teenage son. He had done more in beta than me, and he got started ahead of me in launch. He’s having fun leading me around, and he’s really enjoying the personal story. I’m really enjoying getting to spend some time with him.

I’ve just barely gone beyond the Verdant Brink map, and it’s clear that there’s lots more to do. I’m working on finishing up my Chronomancer elite, but it’s already fun to play even without the final trait.

It’s clear that you’ve put a ton of work into this, so I just wanted to say thank you for all the hard work. I’m looking forward to playing for a long time.

Thx!

P.S. I hope everyone who worked so hard gets some sleep and time off

These aren’t specific to mesmer, but this is a good place to get answers and I’m stuck at work

What’s the ratio of points of expertise to % condition duration in the new stats? (e.g. trailblazer weapon apparently has 59 points of expertise – how much duration is that?)

Do the laurel or guild commendation vendors sell any of the new stat combinations in accessories, amulets, etc?

There were supposed to be new sigils, but I haven’t seen anything listed about them anywhere. Any news on this?

show illusion health in dots?

eldenbri.1059

I guess what I’m suggesting is that, in addition to some level of health indication, when you shatter all the dots that represent illusions who have been committed to the shatter are blanked out.

So in my model, the dots would only indicate illusions that were available for shattering.

eldenbri.1059

Lol – colorblind, old and gullible – seems like a pretty apt description for me

Ironically, with the announcement today that non-targeted creature damage will be greatly reduced, this feature request might actually have some value (at least in PVE)

I’m not worried about having an indicator about how many total illusions I have out. I was just looking for some kind of hint to make the decision between shatter or losing the illusions. The specific cases I’m think about are things like these:

- I have two illusions out and no skill that’s going to give me another one right away and I have all my shatters available. I would probably go ahead and shatter if I saw both were low on health (especially with the free clone on two-illusion shatter)

- Or alternatively, I have three illusions up and one shatter skill available, but I would prefer to use another one. If I can see that all of them have high health, I might wait for the preferred shatter.

Of course, I might spaz out and just shatter somewhat randomly even if I had better information

I’m guessing this has been raised before, but I’m wondering if a lot of people would benefit from some simple health indication in the dots. Even if it just had full dot for full health down to 50% and half-filled dot for anything below 50%, it would help me.

I can never see illusion health bars in the midst of a big fight. I know a lot of illusions die really quickly. I’m using illusionary defender plus Persisting Images. So sometimes mine last a few seconds, and it would be helpful to have a little more info (I can never see their health bars in the middle of a fight)

Would it help anyone else?

I play in very low tier and only play a couple matches per day (think I’m rank 25 or so). So feel free to ignore all the rest of this

This is the condi build I’m playing right now. In matches that my team wins, it’s pretty frequent that I see “highest condition damage” noted for me. There could be lots of causes like bad opponents.

I find that I’m too slow killing one on one with this build in most fights, but it feels like I can help turn the tide in bigger fights.

Clones Overwriting Phantasms

in Mesmer

For sure for me, I would always prefer to keep the third phantasm and not get the clone.

eldenbri.1059

Yes, it makes sense to shatter at that moment. Then Chronophantasma kicks in and you have 3 new phantasms. Now you ideally want to give at least the two Avengers a second to attack again. But someone comes running at you, and you instinctively hit your scepter block.

In that case, it would be nice to keep the three phantasms and not create the scepter clone.

That’s why I suggested one option was to have the overwrite behavior governed by having phantasm traits equipped since my current build has both Chronophantasma and Persistence of Memory. It’s clear that phantasms are more valuable to me than clones.

I don’t play enough pvp to know if it’s realistic, but I can see a case where you have shield and mental defense and you get two Avengers and a Defender up.

I’m not sure how hard it would be to code, but would be ideal for me is if you take a phantasm trait (like Chronophantasma) then clones never replace phantasms. Maybe to make this simpler, make this only apply to the Chronophantasma trait.

Poison master druid?

in Ranger

Posted by: eldenbri.1059

eldenbri.1059

Sorry my opening post was so brief. I’m primarily looking at this as a roaming WvW build – maybe it’s interesting in PVP.

If I understand the 25% bonus of poison master correctly, each poison stack should be about 200 per tick at 2100 condition damage (which is where this build is when you have full corruption stacks). So that’s pretty close to half the damage from a burn stack, but it seems like you can apply more of them and they last longer.

Then with the bird pets and beastmastery, you get a lot of other cover conditions. I don’t quite know how much damage pet-applied conditions really do.

As a WvW roamer, it’s nice to have the speed from the druid trait anyway. It feels like you would be basically dead if you got condi-loaded right after coming out of the astral state though.

Has anyone looked at a build with the poison master trait? It seems like maybe the druid trait line offers enough condi defense that it would be possible to make a build focused on poison. I threw this idea together, but maybe someone has already gone down this path?

Chrono starting sequence

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vhAQNAreWnknBlphNqBGqBEgilnj6sACgDreQP0FFdxynGA-TFyCABA8AAoa/BA1H4p6PTcKASUJYWK/k4IAEAABYmlZZOzAH9oH9oH9oNzZe0Ze0ZWIgFrBA-w

During beta, I found I wasn’t very good at using my F5 skill. It takes me a while to learn lots of moves in a small amount of time, so I’m trying to come up with a “standard” opening that I can practice until my fingers start learning. I know every fight is somewhat different, but I would love feedback on this or other ways you get into and use your F5.

Start scepter/shield out
- shield 4 (block, get iAvenger and iDefender)
- F1 shatter (now have an extra clone)
- shield 4 + F2 shatter part way through (Deja Vu is up from first block, shatters work while blocking)
- shield 5 (gives some cover and quickness for next casts)
- iDisenchanter
- confusing images

Weapon swap to staff

F5 (should have iDefender, iDisenchanter and one clone assuming they survived)

staff 4 (get a little extra defense while doing the rest of this)
staff 5
F3 shatter (should ideally still have iDefender, iDisenchanter, and one clone)
iWarlock (staff 3)
staff 2
gravity well

Thx again for feedback and any F5 sequences you really like.

BWE3 Chronomancer Feedback Thread

At the highest level, I think I would leave everything as it is with Chronomancer for the moment. It doesn’t seem like anything is totally broken.

With the number of changes being introduced, it feels like it is going to take more than one weekend to start finding the optimal balancing points. I felt like Chronomancer had the potential to be strong, but I felt like I only unlocked some of that potential.

As many other people noted here, lots of the elite specs seem really strong. At first, I just attributed it to the fact that I didn’t know how to play against them (e.g. I must have been staying too close to reapers in a lot of fights). But many of the elite specs I ran into seemed very powerful. My team got crushed in Stronghold one game because a druid kept healing the hero they had summoned. I couldn’t generate enough damage to take it down (of course, I probably should have realized and targeted the druid, but it was pretty amazingly effective).

If there was anything changed, it would be neat to see the iAvenger be a little more survivable. If it needs to be different than swordsman, maybe it could give itself 3 seconds of protection when it attacks.

Thanks for all the hard work. I’m looking forward to playing Chrono!

- Was nice to know I was helping allies (alacrity, condi removal and healing)

The 1-second duration is pretty bad (though in WvW, the food gets you 1.4 seconds).

But you can keep a very high block uptime with a build like this. No doubt that good players will avoid hitting the blocks (and especially hitting multiple times), but you can still generate a few illusions and shatter them along with confusing images. I’m guessing most players will eventually try to attack or will give up and go away. Since I mostly roam in WvW and play defense in Stronghold, those are okay outcomes for me

Thx much! This has been really helpful.

I’m not per se looking for something simple. I’ve played lots of different mesmer builds over the years. I was playing a hybrid (but mostly power) phantasm build with a focus on interrupting for quite a while.

What I’m looking for are elegant synergies that make the build powerful and interesting to play. I’m also looking for something a little different. I’ve never played a meta build because I like experimenting and learning. And playing builds that are different has the advantage of throwing other people off.

When I look at the changes coming in HoT, it feels to me like things are likely to get more deadly. So I’m trying to find something that can fight well, but also stay alive. I do a lot of solo roaming in WvW, and many times, I end up outnumbered. For a while I switched from mesmer to ranger because a trapper ranger was just amazing in outnumbered fights.

So now I’m looking for something a little different. But my on-paper analysis so far has been off the mark, and the feedback here is helping me to refine my ideas. Thx!

And I finally went back to the fine print in the wiki which solves all of this. Thanks for your patience with me

So using this:
For every second under effect of Alacrity, skills recharge 1.66 seconds

It should take about 3.6 seconds to recharge Illusionary Counter (scepter 2).

And about 6.3 seconds to recharge MindWrack (assuming alacrity is up for the whole time).

You could still get close to the number of shatters described in the model above, but it’s definitely a big difference.

Thx again for the help clarifying

OK. Part 2 of my mini-novel How does shattered strength compare to MtD?

NOTE: I started writing this before the response on Alacrity, so the calculations below may be off (the 66% versus 34% reduction difference is big). It takes a while to write something this long…

As Pyro points out, the competing trait in this build would be Maim the Disillusioned.

Here’s how I think the two of these actually play out (and again, I’m looking for input on why my on-paper analysis may be off target).

With MtD, you get a stack of torment for each shatter that hits. The build editor shows that as 739 damage for non-moving and 1478 damage moving over a 9-second span if not cleansed.

With shattered strength, you get 14.5 seconds of might for each shatter (doesn’t matter if it hits or not).

OK, so now we need to try to imagine what’s actually happening in a fight to see which is actually better. For me as a player, I tend to use Confusing Images whenever it comes up. I like the skill (especially with Malicious Sorcery). I also use the blocks basically whenever they come up (I like the defense, and it seems like people are not used to fighting against lots of blocks). And of course, the goal here is to shatter basically as often as possible. So what will that look like in a real fight?

To make things a little more simple, let’s say I’m just sitting in scepter/sword (which is my preference). In a really good 60 second window, I would ideally have something like this going on:
- Confusing images (6 times)
- Illusionary riposte (8 times)
- Illusionary counter (10 times)
- Cast phantasmal swordsman (4 times)
- Cast phantasmal disenchanter (4 times)
- Mindwrack (8 times)
- Cry of frust (5 times)
- Diversion (3 times)

This is a model and real world fights have lots of variation. If opponents never hit the blocks, you don’t have as many clones (and iDefenders) to shatter. The ether signet can get you some extra phantasms to replace some of this. But you have to pick some model to analyze.

So the difference between Shattered Strength and MtD looks something like this:

MtD: 64 max possible torment stacks. Shattering is pretty hectic at this pace, so let’s assume I get 40 actual hits. These come basically every 3.75 seconds. Let’s say someone can remove all the conditions I apply once every 10 seconds. That gives 6.25 seconds of torment from each hit. If we say that someone is moving 75% of the time, then MtD in this model should contribute something like. 40 * 898 = 35,920 damage (basically in the 60 seconds – clearly it takes time to land the first shatters and some of this is condi damage ticking after the 60-second window, but the goal here is a fairly simple model).

So now, we need to look at what shattered strength would deliver. With 16 shatters in 60 seconds, it means 4 might stacks every 3.75 seconds. With a 14.5 second duration, this comes out to about 15 stacks of might on a steady basis. You can surge at the start of the fight with the F5 skill, and the runes add some stacks. But let’s call it 13 stacks to be conservative. So that’s 390 more power and condi damage.

Using the model of attacks, this results in a direct damage increase of:
- Confusing images (6 times) = 2628
- Illusionary riposte (8 times) = 2344 (assuming you actually do block each time)
- Illusionary counter (10 times) = 1460
- Cast phantasmal swordsman (4 times) = 2216 (assuming you get 8 attacks by pausing after each shatter)
- Mindwrack (8 times) = 2376

We’ll ignore any other increases from the other shatters, auto-attacks, retaliation on the phantasms, etc. So that’s about 11,024 more direct damage.

Then here’s the condition damage side of things. There are three damaging conditions (confusion, torment, and bleed). For confusion, it averages out to about 2 stacks being applied every second with assumptions above. Half of these have 12-second durations and the other half are 5 seconds. We’re assuming the opponent cleanses all conditions every 10 seconds. To keep things simple, lets just say there are 4 stacks on every second (clearly there will be bursts that are much higher).

So at 4 stacks every second, the extra condi damage from might is equal to 18,000 – 14,640 = 3360.

If we assume a skill use every 1.5 seconds, we have 40 skill uses during this time by the opponent. So the difference from might there is 26,528 – 22,624 = 3904.

For torment (excluding MtD), there’s a scepter block every 6 seconds. Good opponents dodge this, but there’s also some torment from auto-attack. The block torment lasts 12 seconds, but we’re assuming it gets purged every 10 seconds. What really happens is that you get peaks and valleys sometimes with 10 stacks of torment on. But again, to keep things simple, let’s just call this 4 stacks of torment for the whole fight (and again use the moving 75% of the time fraction). That gives a difference of 41,850 – 34,480 = 7370 for the extra might.

Lastly, bleed comes from the sigils. It’s 3 stacks applied on swap. For this model, we’re not really imagining swapping weapons and it’s only 70 damage per second more with three bleed stacks when you add 390 condition damage. So we’ll just skip it.

So with all these assumptions, MtD adds 35,920 and Shattered Strength adds a total of 21,754. So based on this model, Pyro’s right – MtD is better. But they are close enough that it’s not a huge difference. In a scenario with a lot of condi clearing, might closes the gap more. And in terms of getting big chunks of damage when someone uses a skill with 12 confusion stacks or moves with 10 torment, the might helps make this build a little more bursty.

But since the alacrity effect make work differently than the wiki says, all of this may be out the window.

At least it probably counts as my longest forum post ever Congrats to anyone who had the patience to read this…

Thx for all the feedback.

I’m not trying to be hardheaded here. I’ll go through the thinking that went into this and then get to the math of each point.

First, I want to play chronomancer for wvw roaming based primarily on the movement speed trait. I also like Stronghold, so it’s nice if the same build works in both places.

To me, the most interesting characteristics of Chronomancer are alacrity and making shatters more interesting for really active game play. So let’s take alacrity first.

The definition of alacrity is 66% recharge reduction. I did some timing tests on the first videos Robert Gee showed, and it looks like it does exactly that. For every 3 seconds of recharge time, you get an extra two seconds of recharge progress. And it counters chill which is 66% recharge increase, so that also seems logical. For any of the skills where you see “reduces recharge by 20%”, you can simply take the prior recharge time and multiply it by 0.8 to find the new time (e.g. Phantasmal Swordsman is a base 20 second recharge. If you have the 20% recharge trait from Illusions, it now has a 16 second recharge.) There were a few threads early on where this got debated, but I hadn’t seen any recent thread where this seemed like a debate.

Is anyone actually saying that alacrity itself produces less than 66% recharge reduction or that it somehow means something different than
new recharge time = old recharge time * 0.34

So then when you look at this specific build, the base recharge (before alacrity) for Illusionary Counter is 6 seconds and Confusing Images is 9.5 seconds (because of traits in the Illusions line). And if you have alacrity 100% of the time, then the 66% should apply to these values I think. But if I’m doing the math wrong or there’s some real-world evidence that it somehow works differently, I’d love to know!

Hybrid shatter chrono v2

The conditions in this build do come primarily from the scepter. The other sources are confusion on shatter and bleeds on weapon swap (plus you get pretty steady vulnerability to enhance damage and slow as an occasional cover condition).

When I look at the condi damage for a build like this, I think about applying versus cleansing. If 100% alacrity can be maintained, you get things like this:
- scepter block available every 2 seconds
- confusing images available every 4 seconds
- mindwrack (up to 4 confusion stacks) every 4 seconds
- cry of frustration (up to 8 confusion stacks) every 8 seconds
- diversion (up to 4 confusion) every 11 seconds

So it feels like you can keep at least some confusion on as a steady basis, and eventually be able to land a scepter block that can’t be dodged or quickly purged. And occasionally, you can spike confusion up to 10-12 stacks that will be hard to purge just based on how frequently it can be re-applied.

You can argue that 100% alacrity may not be realistic. With no alacrity speeding up the cooldowns and not using ether signet, the build gives about kittenterable-illusions per minute. With the 50% alacrity trait, that’s over 50 seconds of alacrity per minute without counting any effect from the iAvengers. Just a little bit of alacrity takes the cooldowns low enough that it should be possible to keep 100% alacrity. Lots can and will go wrong here, but the basic point is that it should be possible to shatter extremely frequently and use the scepter skills frequently to keep the condi pressure on.

At least that’s what I think, but I missed last beta weekend and didn’t get to test.

Edit: Not sure what triggered the forum profanity blocker, but the base number is forty-five illusions that can be used for shatters per minute (that’s counting phantasms twice because of chronophantasma)

Thx for the feedback. Most of the gear is carrion, but I have the dire plus rabid trinkets already so I’m just planning on using them.

The hybrid idea in this build comes from the might generation along with decent condition and power base numbers. It’s possible to get 12+ might stacks from just shattering based on some early tests and some on-paper analysis.

Since the scepter attacks scale nicely with power as well as providing conditions, the idea is to take advantage of the might stacks in both respects. The blocks will probably frustrate attackers, but they also serve the purpose of keeping a steady supply of illusions. With steady illusion supply, you can shatter very frequently. With frequent shatters, you get direct and condi damage, healing, condi clears, alacrity, and might stacks.

Well, Pyro hated the first version of this build, so let’s see how v2 goes

What I’m trying to do here is come up with a concept that does both power and condi damage (not worried about exactly 50-50 split) such that there is a strong and sustained level of damage (doesn’t need to really burst) while still giving very solid defense.

I’d love feedbadk – thx!

Edited to update gear – meant to switch to all carrion and strength runes

Signet of the Ether - Mental Defense

For anyone who was curious, the answer turns out to be yes. Using ether signet resets the iDefender cooldown, so you can get two defenders out quickly

Has anyone ever tested whether using Signet of the Ether resets the cooldown for Mental Defense?

Can you block, get an iDefender, use signet, block and get iDefender again basically immediately?

I’ll try testing – just wanted to know if anyone has tried it already.

I actually prefer if scepter is left where it is at least until HoT comes out. Possibly increasing the projectile speed by 5% on auto-attack is good (this will basically be no different when you’re in melee and a small increase at range)

As it stands, this weapon seems to provide nice condition damage, nicely scaling power damage, and good opportunities to create clones. It feels like it can be used well for many builds. Given that there are only two mainhand weapons, I would much rather see this weapon left as it is with the ability to fill many roles versus taking anything away from it to push it toward another role.

I like scepter enough to finally make the commitment to a legendary weapon. I’m about halfway through creating Meteorlogicus, so I really hope I get to use it

Stronghold PvP Feedback

Seems like this feedback would be a lot easier to parse if people provided more data. I played somewhere around 20 matches. I rarely pvp (just made dolyak this weekend). I do a lot of WvW roaming, so I’m used to small fights.

Overall experience was really enjoyable. I can see myself playing this mode (and am unlikely to play conquest very much).

It feels like it’s tuned fine to be released. Increased health for heros is good.

In basically every game, I went straight to the treb and played defense. I found I could help a lot and score plenty of points. I had plenty of interesting fights as people came to boot me out. There were times when I left the treb to summon a hero or even occassionally push the offensive. Most of the time if I left the treb, it was to help defend in the lords room.

I was always solo. Against other teams that were solo players, the team I was on often did well. It seemed fairly uncommon that anyone else on my team wanted to play defense (but there were certainly some times). Most of the matches were fairly even for at least the first bit. The closest match we won with a player stomp in our lords room right before the timer expired. One time, my team dramatically outscored the others. Twice the opposing team seemed to be pre-made (all five once, and 3 others another time). My team lost badly both times. The attackers would send two or three dedicated people to wipe me on the treb, and I just couldn’t ask for help quickly enough. I assume the premades had good players as well as good communication – it was telling in the results.

As a mesmer, it was really fun to play defense with blink. Being able to blink up to the treb or to the overhead walkways past the outer door is really fun. The blink target is a little sensitive about spots to pick on the treb cliff which gets a bit tense if you’re 1v2. The little ledges leading into the lord’s room are annoying because you can’t blink to get into that room.

Bottom line – I enjoyed it and will play it when HoT comes out.

Scrapper build for engi friend

Thx much. Here’s a refinement with Slick Shoes and the Tools trait to give Utility Googles. Plus this version commits to condi damage and ignores trying to boost power at all. Any feedback? (Still assume hammer replaces rifle and purge gyro is the last utility slot). Thx!

I also realized that I had no stun breaker on this build. Would be neat if one of the gyros offered a stun break.

What are typically the best choices for stun breaks on Engi?

My friend plays his engi pretty casually and infrequently. We do a few dungeons and some trips into WvW. He enjoys creating chaos, and I think it’s most important that we make a build that’s fun for him. He likes the #3 hammer skill for scrapper, and we got him some perplexity runes when he was making a condi engi. So ideally the build below is both fun and reasonably effective. I would love feedback.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFA0kUUh+sArXokWUgpYLeAfbYAMiA-TVSFABrpDAgLAgTKxCe/BKV/5JlBLp0ILlgJ/AAIEwi1A-w

Notes:
- The rifle in the build is meant to represent the wrench. I just have it there to set some stats.
- The idea is that there’s a bit of hybrid damage here. Most of the damage should come from burning, bleeding and confusion, but the direct damage will be helpful (especially with a few might stacks, lots of vulnerability, and what should be a high effective crit chance)
- I envision him using purge gyro and shredder gyro as utilities
- For scrapper traits, I think probably Shocking Speed, Rapid Regeneration, and Final Salvo make sense.
- Biggest issue here seems to be out of combat mobility. I could see replacing bomb kit with wrench and taking streamlined kits like this to solve that problem http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vdAQFA0kUUhSuArXowWUgj4JGAjtxY8FA-TVSFABrpDAgLAgTKxCe/BKV/5JlBLp0ILlgJ/AAIEwi1A-w

Chronomancer: power or condi?

I’m specifically trying to make a hybrid chrono (probably 70 – 30 damage from condis in a wvw roamer) and maybe more like (60 – 40 condi in pvp).

But the general consensus was that the build I was trying wasn’t very good – so we’ll have to see

Yeah, the problem of an add (like a thief) joining the fight was basically why I switched from all carrion gear to dire. You do get some nice additional healing if you can keep up with the shattering, but when you’re getting focused on, it’s hard to get the clones out without having a big dip in health. That’s when I try to stealth and either restart the fight or get out.

Still, are there any mesmer builds that allow you to just stand there and take it if you’re being attacked 2v1? I played a trapper condi ranger prior to the June 23 release, and I found I could take enough damage and output enough condition damage that I could fight a 1 v 2 by just pouring on the AoE condis. But I’m not sure there’s a mesmer build that would work like that.
