So people who make mistakes should just be fired? Hey, next time you mess up at your job, no need to come back? Really?
This is a video game, not a life and death business. As such, do you guys prefer having regular updates, possibly containing bugs (then quickly fixed and learnt from), or indigent/sparse updates, possibly bug-free?
Developers and managers are real humans, doing their best like many of us, and the hate of players can only induce frustration and weariness, thus more bugs and less confidence in the product to be delivered (meaning longer timelines).
1st big-time mess up, sure, it happens.
2nd big-time mess up, well were all human, but dont let it happen again
3rd mess up. Dude, last time or youre out!
4th I’d fire you, for sureDo you really let people make mistakes OVER and OVER again and just say: well bugs happen, no matter how big they are and could be prevent by doing some normal testing.
I agree bugs happen (im a programmer myself) but come on… They shoudlnt occur on this rate
Please point out at least 1 (relatively) big patch where there wasnt a huge/game-breaking bug and I will take back my words. (I’m not calling this bug huge, but it is semi-gamebreaking, and please know that this aint the only game-breaking bug that came with this patch)
You obviously don’t have much experience in software development. Bugs exist in code everywhere. It is part of the programming process. You know how for popular software you get updates all the time? (Such as patch Tuesday for most companies). Those are all to fix bugs (be they security, feature, logic, etc bugs). Because coding is very complex in order to successfully QA test every part of an update would take more time than they have. As someone else mentioned if you wanted updates without any bugs you would only get 1-2 updates a year. Sure I think that Anet’s QA department is lacking quite a bit (there are some bugs that get let through that never should have seen a production server without being caught), but still you can’t say fire someone if they program a bug. No programmer in his life (myself included) has ever made code that was completely bug free.

The new TP sell interface seems far from intuitive, and actually makes selling items harder.
Did anyone QA test this? Where are the old options that we were used to, such as sell max (which went past just the highest bidder) or add to previous listing that we have of an item? Also the net profit estimator made it easier than having to calculate that in my head… Seems far less user friendly to me.

Don’t fret guys. Your classes’ AI will get buffed in 6 months to a year. It will be more powerful than Engi AI. Then we can have E-sports. All is good. AI Wars 2, working as intended.

Been saying since day one that they need to at least balance PvE and PvP separately. There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that the reason that we have such unbalanced builds (and overall lack of build diversity in this game) is because of their refusal to split the skills between PvE/WvW and PvP.
I’m in agreement with the others here that I think they are using the biggest cop out in the world to say that it is because they don’t want to “confuse” players. Truth is they don’t want to actually have to do more than update skill facts with every patch.

Title says it. I figured since Zealots was added with that patch Nomad’s would be added as well. Figure it is just an oversight.

Solo Queue is affectionately called YOLO queue for a reason. It is almost as toxic as Hotjoin. People run the cheap builds: Condi PU mesmer, Turrent or condi spam engi, decap engi, spirit ranger, p/d SA thief, condi warrior, MM necro, d/d ele (most are condi based). I’m sure I’m missing some but you get the point.
The reason people run those builds in Solo Queue is because there isn’t the level of coordination that keeps those builds out of good Team Queue matches. Those builds (for the most part) suffer against a good team. They tend to have weaknesses that a coordinated team can exploit. Condi PU mesmer at mid? Send someone with condi cleanse since a pu mesmer can’t hold a point for long with all the stealth. Spirit ranger or MM necro nearby? Send your guy with AoE to hit them. Etc.
While the game is balanced the way that it is (i.e. toxic builds can stay as long as they don’t impact top tier competitive play) then Solo Queue being uncoordinated will always be a mess of only OP builds.
I personally play a zerk guardian most of the time now, and love playing him. But I’m frequently one of the only people in Solo Queue matches that is using a non condi build. I actually had a match yesterday where I asked if anyone in the map was using direct damage besides me. Everyone that answered said no. You will be hard pressed to find someone in Yolo Q not running some toxic cookie cutter build.
Unfortunately Anet’s attitude is: if you don’t like it, don’t play it. Find a coordinated team and play team queue instead.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
Somehow I seem to get this map more than any other in Solo Queue. I was playing over the weekend and got it 5 times in a row!! How is that even possible?! I actually quit playing pvp for the rest of the night after that since that map makes me so angry. Some classes are just better there, end of story. Those stealth pulls/pushes from thieves, mesmers, and engis… skilled play right?

Everyone asking for a nerf of strength runes does not understand that this runeset is the last thing that keeps pvp from being an all out condition war.
Rune of Strength benefits condition damage, too..
True, but most builds that are condi builds would chose a different rune set over this. If you think about the professions that tend to go condi: Necro, Engi, Mesmer, Thief, Warrior, and Ranger; only Warrior and Engi have good ways of stacking might. It would be far more beneficial to them not to waste the flat stats on the runes on power either. So I don’t see that many condi builds are picking up this rune set even though the might can potentially add 350 condi damage with 25 stacks of might.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
More boon striping would kill guards. I think that the real problem is as others have said: Runes of Strength are way out of line right now. Those things need a nerf.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
Ah it’s refreshing to see discussion on eles once more in here. Havn’t seen this talk since 2012. Too the point, ele d/d is back to its former glory minus the 15 sec Rtl and all catrips being stun breaks. They unnerfed cleansing water and restore signet so eles sustain was regained along with lovely runes of strength which is amazing since ele thrives off power (one of the main reasons why bountiful power got the slight nerf long ago as well). Thing is ele kept getting some minor buffs along the way leading up to this so they are in a better place overall.
We all wanted a power meta and anet delivered with strength runes.
I don’t mind if they make a minor nerf to these but if it’s major or they rework them entirely, we will lose what’s left that’s non condi aids crap. We have never actually had a condi meta and I would like it to stay that way.
I agree, I don’t think anyone wants a condi meta (although arguably that is kind of what we have in mid and low tier matches now). I don’t think, however, that we should rely on power creep to keep the condi meta at bay. Strength runes created a huge power creep for builds that can stack might easily since they went from maintaining a good 12 stacks of might to having constant 25 stacks + 7% increased damage. I think it is most visibly showing on Ele tank builds because of the great power scaling, easily obtained might, and the high healing of sig of rest. I think the damage side of this build would subside a lot without the strength runes, and honestly might be the answer to this problem. And with the unerfed SoR I think that d/d eles are still in a great place.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
If all it takes to kill an Ele is a chill/immobilize, then I’d tell that Ele to get better at gw2.
Agreed, lol. That’s a l2p issue if you think that they fold. I didn’t play just one game either. I played several hours on the build before I made my decision. (And yes I played it in all sPvP formats: Hot Mess, YoloQ and TeamQ).
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
More frequent balancing, and less skill fact balancing!
Problems:
1) Guardians are in a good place. We are so sick of hearing you say this. So just skip over the class instead since that’s really all you are doing.
2) “Shave” the stupid god mode builds: Condi PU mesmer, D/D ele, P/D condi thief, Settler’s Condi Warrior, Conditions builds in general (everyone and their mother is running conditions in PvP for a reason.
3) Fix the OPness of Strength Runes! They are way over the top. Classes that can stack might easily (eles, warrior, engis) are benefiting from this runeset so much and it is causing big time imbalance. Just look at the price of them on the TP, or how many people use them in PvP if you need evidence.
Above all, please don’t wait so long in between balance patches. It’s better to have a constantly changing meta than a stale one.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
D/D ele is fine the way it is now. I really do think it’s balanced perfectly now. And your math’s wrong about the auto attacks. Just saying. It’s not 1/2 seconds per cast. It’s 1 ish. I would say that ele has gone up from lower tier classes to the middle. And testing this with cleric amulet was just kittened. Have you tried to kill a bunker warrior? Bunker guard? I remember 1 v 1ing a bunker warrior with shout heals…It wasn’t even funny. It was like watching paint dry.
Yes I killed several bunker warriors with this build. Bunker guard was harder, but was able to do it after spending too much time on him. The thing is if you know what you are doing, and aren’t just pressing buttons you can get 25 stacks of might through combos/strength runes, and can have pretty ridiculous damage for a bunker. That’s the whole point of my post. Either the damage (strength runes) needs to be tweaked, or the bunker aspect of the build needs to be tweaked. And please read the OP. It specifically says why clerics was used. The power in the amulet as a secondary stat makes the damage dealing of an ele (who scales very well with power) still quite formidable.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
Guys… This isn’t a discussion about Warrior vs. Ele. This is a discussion of the emergence of the D/D ele bunker build (not eles in general). The point I’m trying to make is that this build is becoming increasingly common in all formats (every match I was in the last few days had at least 1 d/d ele, and oftentimes more). The fact that they can combine tanky builds with strength runes and be good damage dealers that are very very tanky.
Also for those saying that I’m just picking up a new class and running with it. I don’t really need to justify myself, but I will anyway: I’ve played a lot of matches on ele pre patch running scept/d full zerk build. I have also run a zerk staff build. I’ve played ~500 hours on my ele and it was my second character. I’ve also played a decent amount of pvp have one champ title, and close to a second. I have all classes at level 80 through actually playing them and not just farming EoTM. So let’s try not attacking me personally and just discuss how you feel the d/d ele bunker build with str runes is in the meta right now.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
Honeslty those traits and clerics amulet.. its one of the most tanky builds you can make.
It would be stupid if you couldnt heal and survive 1vs1..
If theres something unusual/too strong in there thats the damage and only that.
For the love of god no nerfs in survivability or we ll have a post dhuumfire again for ele.
The class doesnt function without defensive stats and if you nerf the scaling on those it becomes (as already been seen) the “downed state” class
I agree to some extent, I think one of the big problems is the damage, but I think the signet is too strong as well. If you take zerk stats, and run 30 into water your signet is healing you for 234 every 1/2 second based on auto attack cast time. That is equivalent to 468 hps as long as you are attacking. That’s higher than what healing signet was doing before it was nerfed. I think the signet does need to be toned down a bit. The nerf to HS on warrior brought them down to a (slightly above) normal state. I think the signet needs to have a similar small tweak.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
You played with cleric? Mate, there’s literally no cleric eles playing competitive pvp. That amulet is nothing but heals, you really lack all the damage.
If you are playing that build you are harming your team.
If you read my original post you would see that I was not hurting for damage. The stat combination for clerics includes power as one of the two secondary stats. Power scales very nicely on eles, and I actually called out some of my numbers. A 4k firegrab from a tank isn’t something to exactly laugh at. The build is definitely not all heals. It doesn’t hit as hard as a full dps person, but the strength runes and the good power scaling on ele combined makes this build work rather well for an upper mid range damage spectrum.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
Well I had heard a lot of rumors about how strong this build had become. I dueled my friend and he literally couldn’t die, but I just assumed that is because he is an amazing player. I’ve been seeing more and more D/D ele in all PvP formats and had trouble killing them, but assumed it was just me. Until I just tried out the build…
I was using clerics stats (yeah I know the meta is celestial, but I found clerics did the job pretty darn well) with strength runes and running 0/0/10/30/30 cantrips with evasive arcana. I was running the new and improved (or old un nerfed if you prefer) Signet of Restoration and MF, AoE, and CF (although that one is variable, but I liked it for the condi clear and regen+vigor).
I found that I was near unkillable. I never lost 1v1 (admittedly condi builds were much harder because of the low vitality, and I had to be careful for poison). The auto attack for d/d ele is a 1/2 cast time and each cast heals me for 324. So that’s 648hps just from auto attacks and SoR. Not to mention all the cleansing waves I can get from various traits and water 5. Plus the regen from my cantrips and the vigor made it a nightmare for someone to try to kill me alone.
But the worst part? My damage was still pretty darn good. Power scales well on an ele, so clerics was ok for damage. My Fire grabs were hitting for ~4K thanks to my handy strength runes which are dps gifts from the balance team. My auto attacks were shabby admittedly, but it still didn’t take me long to kill people.
Not trying to make a thread QQing and asking for insta nerf, just putting out my observations. Honestly I think it is a combination of SoR getting buffed too much, and strength runes just being ridiculously powerful since might is easily gotten in this game.
What do other people think?

I still see more warriors than guardians, yes guardians can out dps warriors and it takes skill to do considering the low HP. Warriors however doesn’t take a lot of skill, low risk – high reward.
Both warrior and guardian don’t take much skill , both classes are straight forward: swing your great sword and that’s about it. Although warrior has healing signet, guard also has a lot of passive regen and aegis from traits.
Except if you go full DPS as a guardian, you have the lowest HP in the game, on the same level as eles, but without their huge array of skills.
DPS guard is just as faceroll as warrior, heals from meditations and tons of blocks. If you want to play something hard, play S/X glass ele.
If you bring a meditation guardian to any sort of pve group oriented content you should be kicked.
Guardians are brought for their group support over dps. (This does not mean bring an AH or Virtues cleric guardian.)
It means bring a guardian that is in full zerker gear with shouts and/or consecrations for the reflects.
Just because you can bring group wide boons doesn’t mean you should sacrifice DPS. And seriously if you bring a meditation guard to dungeons. you are doing it wrong.
If you want hard you run absolutely nothing in the toughness line except maybe strength in numbers but then you are giving up a ton of your DPS
The person who thinks I’m talking about PvE needs to be kicked , not me. But while we are at it, guardian and warrior are easy in both PvP and PvE.
I have a feeling this guy has never played a zerk guard in his life. Zerk guardian in PvP is fine if you are good, you have blocks and blinds a plenty. In PvE Zerk guard is a hard spec to play since you can’t blind/block a lot of things in PvE. Which means you need to be really good with your dodges and seeing telegraphs, because if you miss one step you are dead with the lowest health pool in the game (same as thief and ele). I play zerk on every class I play in PvE, and thief is 10xs easier zerk than zerk guard.
And back to the OP, in no way is guardian more popular in PvE than warrior. They have the capability to out DPS a warrior, but only if you are exceedingly talented (keeping Unscathed contender on). But overall a Warrior will out-DPS a guard because you rely on keeping up Aegis (not getting hit by anything) in order to stay above them in dps. Also the survivability of that build is not easy. Meanwhile my zerk warrior can hit for 25k HB pretty regularly. And for utility, with the new grandmaster PS, they can stack more might than a guard can, and keep it up permanently.
So no, Warrior is the trend, and guardians are the one that are becoming more and more extinct/obsolete.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
I would agree that unless the mesmer is running some cheese build like zerker pu/condi pu or the signet distortion variant, they will have a hard time beating a good thief.
To someone’s other point that all zerk classes lose to thief zerk; I disagree. Zerk guardian, in my opinion, is a good counter to zerk thief. The amount of blocks and blinds available to a zerk meditation guardian keep the thief from landing their burst, and they have decent mobility and teleports for their own burst. Plus the burning even with no condi dmg boosts still perturbs the thief quite a bit.

It seems like devs respond only to useless topics like this and doesn’t care about giving response to anything important. Never before I’ve seen such aproach to customers. Sad.
I reply to writing and VO threads when I can, including critical feedback posts, since that’s my area. Is there something story related that you’re concerned about, or is this comment more about other feedback (balance, gameplay, etc.) that isn’t being addressed? Remember that we read the forums often and reply when we’re able. A respectfully worded post gets a lot more attention than vague complaints.
I kind of feel like a dev word about the incredibly scarce chaos of lyssa recipe is extremely desired, with numerous threads being created about it. I know it was mentioned on stream that it’s droprate is fine, but seeing as it sold for 1k and 2.5k, that isn’t precedented and is disheartening.
This is the wrong thread to discuss that. My advice would be either to post in an existing thread on that topic, or if one doesn’t exist you can create a new one.
Agreed. I think that people need to realize that different people have different roles at Arena Net. Bobby is a writer. He isn’t in charge of drop rates, or Mega Servers, or Balance. I appreciate the fact that he responds to threads and takes time out of his day to interact with us.
While I agree that the response rate on “heated” threads is abysmal, don’t blame the people that actually interact with us, since they are the ones doing it right.

Would-be hackers obtain lists of valid e-mail addresses and “ping” them against Guild Wars 2 to see if they can steal an account. They hope that they can get you to react carelessly, to approve access for them by not paying attention to the mail, not reading the remote location they’re coming from, etc.
They also obtain huge lists of “known passwords” through hacks of sites, such as the recent PayPal and eBay incidents.
And finally, a lot — the majority — of hacked game accounts are tied to hacked e-mail accounts. If I got those e-mails, I’d be asking a lot of questions, like “Is my e-mail secure?” or “Does my computer have a key-logger?”
If you want to change your user name, contact Support and we’ll work with you on that. I strongly encourage you to use a new e-mail account that you use nowhere else and that you chose passwords that are used only one time, and are quite complex. Be aware that if you issue a request for a new Account Name we will be required to establish that you’re the owner of the account, go through a verification process. But really, for security’s sake, you wouldn’t want us to react any other way.
Out of curiosity Gaile, why doesn’t Guild Wars have some form of bruteforce/dictionary attack protection? Such as if an account attempts 5 invalid credential sets in a row, they now have to solve a CAPTCHA, or they have to wait a minute before attempting again.
I work in Web Application Security myself, and a protection like this would vastly help reduce the amount of automated account hacks from guessing passwords. I understand that this does nothing to help when people get infected with a keylogger/RAT, get their email account compromised, etc. But it is something that might be worth the money to implement. A control like that can make bruteforce/dictionary attacks mathematically infeasible.
Just a suggestion from my own knowledge. I know that Anet takes security very seriously, so just thought I would offer up some advice.
EDIT: Removed the word simple because I understand that while the idea of something in IT is simple, it always takes a lot of hours to implement. Didn’t want to be insensitive.

If this refers to the end of the Queensdale Champ Farm, then the title should be “Easy Loot = Why We Play”. Personally, I wish there was NO WAY the current champ trains could ever exist again but sadly, that’s hardly the case. Champs still drop loot bags.
Yes, QD was well established and now its gone but pretty sure some farmers are already out there experimenting with other zones and finding an optimal path. Don’t worry, results will soon be published and the cycle will begin anew but in another zone. Hopefully everyone plays nicer this time.
Unfortunately, a feature of the game which was meant to promote community ended up promoting lazy play and apparently, many have gotten used to it. Zerging was a unforeseen side-effect and IMO, A-net is correct to deal with it now. If the loot was not to be nerfed, then the champs would have had to undergone a serious redesign to make effort worth the reward.
No I don’t think this thread started off as being about the QD train. There is a thread for QQing about that. This one is about the LS event which has no drops from mobs or bosses, and you only get crappy loot at the end that doesn’t make it worth doing.

Yesterday I had my first real MegaServer experience (I mainly PvP and WvW) in the Pavilion.
And for some reason more or less every single guild or commander in that map were from my server, Aurora Glade.
So clearly the system DOES take server and such into account, despite what people in this thread seems to claim.Very strange, consider yourself very lucky.
I got split from my guildies (even party members, and surprise surprise, hardcap!), didn’t see my familiar server tags and even encountered some good ol’ server bashing (of gold league, I’m bronze lol) in the light of a new end of the WvW tournament.
Then I gave up on the Pavillion, as with poor rewards and without guildies / server allies to play with, it isn’t worth playing.Would pay gems for a devpost about the megaserver.
I’d only pay gems to see it removed.
Maybe this was their plan all along? ;-)
But seriously, the next LS should be a voting release like Kiel vs. Evon. We vote for or against the mega-server. The tally can be seen in game so no funny business goes on with Anet fudging the numbers. They could add in all sorts of activities so that you can get tokens to vote with.
I would grind so hard to get tokens to fill the “Get rid of MegaServer” box.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
Honestly the whole gemstore emphasis doesn’t matter to me anymore. I’ve decided I’m not spending a single cent on gems to support this game until they address the MegaServer concerns that we have piled up for them to respond to.
The lack of loot in this LS is one giant gold sink to try to stabilize the economy inflation. I finished the meta, and beat Liadri, so now I’m just going to go about doing what I’ve always done and ignore this release since I’m not inclined to waste my time on content that gets boring fast, and isn’t rewarding you for trying.

3k hours, (not afk) 0 drops, 0 in forge. I also spent ~200-300g on forging with nothing to show for it. Eventually gave up and just bought dusk for 880g 20s and 1c. (Farmed gold, not credit card bought gold).
On a side note for those saying just work and buy it with real money: I have a job, I’m not hourly, so there is no such thing as overtime. And sure I can buy one for a single day’s worth of work, but in doing that you just encourage Anet to keep the RNG system like it is since they profit from it. I refuse to support the awful system with real money.

(edited by eleshazar.6902)
I personally understand that AFK detection is very difficult to do. So don’t insult the developers by saying “simple code” because I can tell you it isn’t easy to distinguish between an AFK person and someone who is actually playing the game besides movement detection. For example think of a bunker who may not have been there for a capture of a point, but is now sitting protecting it, they aren’t scoring points, but they aren’t afk and an AFK person who afks on a point can look exactly the same to the system. There is no easy automated way to detect these people if they make sure that they are moving.
The only solution I have is to utilize the people in the match. In many other games, if a majority of the people on the team report someone for being AFK, they are kicked from the match and replaced. I understand why this is something that you guys are probably wary of implementing because of the potential for abuse. I would say, however, that when you review the reports against someone you can punish people who reported someone for being AFK when they in fact were participating, and maybe were just a bad player. I think it is better to deal with abuse of a feature than to deal with 4v5s all the time because of no features.

Work. Work. Work. Work. Work. China. Work. Work. Work.
No time to discuss, but I still read near every thread.
We know u are very busy for the China Release but can u give us an ETA (not soon™ pls
) for the next patch and for the next CDI/news for Spvp (or in general)?
1 weeks, 2 weeks, 1 month, 1 year?
And yes, where is the new “Allie” guy/girl?
The next patch? We just had a feature patch about a month ago. Dealing with the China merger is taking a ton of time, I’m sure. Even if Anet gave you a date, it’d probably be all speculation at this point, which probably isn’t what they want, as if they stated a date, people would hold them accountable for that date, and if the date rolls around without follow through of their speculation, the community would wield their torches and pitch forks with outcries that this game lacks any new content, and we should follow Moses in exodus to a new game entirely….
So yeah….Be patient….And stuff.
The feature patch was nothing more than taking what we already had and repackaging it. Outside of a few runes/sigils that changed anything, the feature pack was more punishing to veteran pvpers than it was rewarding.
Your point is totally valid, and I’m sure there will be many more changes after the China merger is done and they have a lot more money to work with.
You keep using that word “merger” but I don’t think it means what you think it means. ;-)
A merger is when two companies come together to form a new combined company (not to be confused with an acquisition in which one company acquires another company, but is the company that is in charge).
So this isn’t a merger, it is a launch of the game in China via a publisher over there. Just pointing it out since you keep using that word incorrectly.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
I just don’t understand why they don’t have a “China” development team. Why has China’s launch taken away all attention from the US/EU? If they can’t develop them in tandem without ignoring one side, then maybe they should actually hire more people?
It just seems ridiculous that they ignore their current customers for new ones…

None of the “Adventurer” classes are the best in ranged. Elementalist takes the cake on that one, with warrior coming in second.
As an aside: Ranged in this game is far less effective in PvE as opposed to Melee. All high content groups will want you to melee and not range because it is easy to melee and the damage is much higher. Also a lot of the AI reacts differently when ranged (Lupi will bubble you/teleport if ranged, won’t do that if you melee). You are welcome to play however you want, but just as an FYI a lot of PvE is “stacking” mentality and people get upset when you ranged. Every dungeon in this game uses stacking to do it efficiently and people will expect you to stack. So just keep that in mind when making your decision.
Phoenix Ascendant [ASH] | Rank 80
So I was outside of Arah this weekend after finishing the dungeon with some friends (and of course we ended up in different instances when we came out.
Well the high wizard defend event decided to spawn. All of the sudden a million people converged on my location and I couldn’t move more than five feet without the game stopping for 15 seconds, and I couldn’t wp away because the game kept freezing. Eventually my game lagged out completely. When I reconnected (amazingly enough) I was back in that same shard, and of course the zerg was still there. Again couldn’t move because of the lag, and eventually lagged out. This time I didn’t bother logging back in for the rest of the night.
Long live the meagaserver :-(

So lets take your work analogy -why don’t we.
yes the mega sever made you late because it put everyone on the same train
- not only that
at each stop, it randomly changed all the passengers and in some cases the actual stop because now the station was no longer open.- no one on the train spoke the same language and your neighbor, who got on with you went missing.
there are so many people on the train you can’t see the train let alone the stop
halfway through your journey you disembarked from the train, only to find- when you get back on that it is now a different train.
by the time you got to work – you seriously thought about taking the long way in the car next time.
Very good explanation
but I was waiting for the part where you explained how suddenly people have stopped rezzing because of megaservers… maybe that part of the post ended up on a different server? O_O! Aaaaargh curse you megaservers!!
I can answer this since I’ve seen several people post on the matter.
It isn’t apathy that causes people not to res. It is because people at events are now seen as competition instead of allies. When there are so many people dpsing a boss that you sometimes don’t get loot because you don’t tag for enough, you see the other people as obstacles in the way to getting loot. Ergo, when they down at the event, you don’t want to res them because a) it takes away from your dps time and b) it means they will start dpsing making you have to dps more to get your loot. Also a dead person doesn’t waste as much processing power on your computer as a live one running around spaming effects ;-)
From what I’ve seen people don’t res during events anymore. If someone dies, they leave you until then end, and then will res you. The megaserver overpopulation has bred this attitude not because of apathy, but because of competition for loot.

Well I can say that the mega server is helping me get over my guild wars 2 phase. I used to play everynight when I got home from work for at least 4 hours. These past few weeks I still log in to TS to talk with my guildees, but I only run like one dungeon a night with them (30 minutes). I’ll wait until some actual content is added into this game, and the megaserver gets a real solution before I dedicate time and money back into this game.

Cant you add an optional “add password” to open bank?
It is already there. If you go to your desktop and click on the Guild Wars 2 icon, you get this popup which asks for a password to access your bank.

Huh. Would have been nice to know it was considered an exploit, never would have put spendy runes and sigils in WvW badge gear nor encouraged others to get the WvW badge gear if I had known.
It’s an exploit-type use of the transmutation system that was a direct result of how the system worked. Previously, the system did not know what the skin source item is, or what the stat source item is. All it asked was for you to throw in two items, choose the skin, choose the stats, choose the rune/sigil (if present). The Wardrobe system now clearly tells which item is the stat source, because it’s an item you’ve got equipped.
Huh, I was unaware that you were a member of Anet’s design team. That would be the only plausible explanation as to why you think your opinion on whether something is an exploit or a design decision is more than an opinion.
No one here can say if it was an “exploit” or a design decision besides an Anet employee. So I would refrain from tossing around the word exploit as if it is matter of fact.

I suspect Ellen Kiel is the true culprit in this economic manipulation. Either her or Scarlett…. Only time will tell.

I don’t know whether my suggestions is allowed, but you can do it using a virtual machine.
Basically you use software such as VirtualBox (free) or VMware to create a “virtual” second computer within your machine. You can dedicate 4 cores of your 8 core processor to it and be just fine on processing. I’m assuming because of LAN and NATing behind routers that GW2 will accept two connections from the same IP as long as they are for different accounts/sessions.
You could then run the VM with your 2nd client, and run the main client on your physical PC. This does use more resources than being able to run 2 gw2 processes (because of the resources needed to run the Virtual OS), but the segmentation of resources is clear cut and controllable. Plus for all intents and purposes this VM is seen as a separate machine.
Again I don’t know if it is a violation of the ToS or not, you would have to ask Anet about that. I’m just laying out how you can run two clients on one physical machine. There are countless guides on how to setup a VM, and it isn’t that hard. Main thing is make sure you don’t dedicate too little resources to either the VM or your phyiscal PC, or you will crash your computer.
EDIT: I don’t think that this is a violation, however, since it is the same as multiboxing. Plus an application cannot tell that it is running in a VM anyway, so I don’t think that they know/care if the client is running on a VM.

As many people have stated, OP, healer builds aren’t “broken”, they just aren’t needed in PvE by good players. They definitely have a use in WvW, but in PvE you only need those builds if you aren’t good enough to use the natural mechanics you have at hand for damage mitigation/avoidance.
My guess is that you don’t understand how speed runs work. You should watch some youtube videos sometime. You stated that you have run on your engi and only ever have about 5-6 stacks of might. On my engi I can stack 18 stacks of might without anyone else helping. So as the engi in that run you could have used your large number of blasts and your fire field(s) to stack might for your whole party (better than a guardian in length and stack amount). On my ele I can do 21 stacks and give out perma-fury. And this is without having anyone else blast my field, and running a completely zerk build.
Whether you like it or not, there is no place in pve for healers, or even “support” builds. I run with my friends everynight (we all run complete zerk) and we finish Arah paths in about 30 minutes with 3-4 people. We also duo p2 quite frequently in about 45-60 minutes. None of us run a single “support/defensive” stat. We know how to use our dodges/blocks/blinds/reflects so that we don’t get hit. Why do we need someone with regen/protection/stability? Answer is that we don’t. That is the way the game is. If you are good enough, you have no need for support or healers because every class (even on the most glassy of builds) can take care of themselves.
From some of your statements it really sounds like you have some things to learn about the game (which is perfectly fine! :-). We all start somewhere. But there is a reason that the DPS meta exists, and if you watch those players that have perfected PvE gameplay you will understand why a healer/support build is unnecessary in PvE. You are free to run it, but it will never be “needed”. If you love playing support/healing I would suggest looking into running in WvW with an organized group. There is definitely a need for support builds there.
And as a side note, I’ve never seen a group that can facetank lupi, I would wager to say you can’t since the grubs will make him one shot even the most powerful support build. Facetanking the spider queen in a level 35 dungeon doesn’t prove anything. I don’t believe anyone can do all of Arah without using a dodge/block/reflect/blind.

I used to frequently solo TA (pre easymode patch). Now it is no fun because it is pretty darn easy to solo with the downscaling of mobs.

When did you complete that story step? It looks like you’ve progressed quite a ways past it, if you completed it BEFORE trait unlocks, it won’t retroactively unlock if you didn’t already have that trait.
That doesn’t make sense though… If the character was created before unlocks then that trait shouldn’t be locked at all when he reaches the appropriate level (which from the screenshot he is now 80). So in order for that to be locked he would have to be created after the 15th patch, or he would have to be a much lower level if he was created before the patch.
Either way it is a bug: If he created before the patch, it should be unlocked by now as it is not one of the new grandmasters. If he created after the patch, doing the battle of claw island should have unlocked it.

I’m for that idea.
Those silly siege weapons shouldn’t be build with mithril and elder wood logs.
The siege weapon blueprints for superiorversions should require Bloodstone Dust, Dragonite Ore and Ascended FragmentsMithril is way too cheap, therefore that its a powerful metal…
Anet should reduce the income of mithril.
Instead of obtaining 3 units per node, players should receive only 1 unit per node.
This would instantly reduce the mithril income of the game by 2/3rd and the price would rise by 66% “basically”, when you just gain less mithil. Also the amount of mithril from salvaging should get slightly reduced.
I hope those new heroic weapons that we will see getting implemented when the current wvw tournament ends will require for their crafting parts lots of mithrilium and thus will burn lots of mitril out of the game.
Mithrillium self should become also useable in the Mystic Forge, to upgrade exotic equipment of metallic origin to ascended quality.
example:
Exotic Sword of Examples (from own Crafting – works with no other Exotics)
+ 100 Mithrillium
+ 25 Augur Stones
+60 Mystic Coins= Ascended Sword of Examples
Combine this then with other stuff to give your ascended weapons some specific skins via throwing it together with otherthigns like lodestones ect. into the mystic forge. What Anet could do also is increase the amount of mithril ore, that it takes to refine, that way will increase the refined materials out of mithril ore in their worth as it would take more ore to get the refined materials.
Don’t know, why Anet increased that for some of the t2 wood materials, but didn’t increased until today the refine rates fro the way more overfarmed t5 mats
Orihalcum is not only worth more, than Mitrhil, because of it beign used for exotic equipment crafting, but also because orihalcum is compared tomithril alot rarer to find in the game.
Mithril has way too much material nodes in the end game maps. If anet would reduce the mihtril nodes by say for example 33%, you’d see the worth of it rise up …especially if they also decrease the amount of mithril units you get from a node and increase together with that also too thre refine rates from 3 units per refined mithril bar to say for example for now 4 ores or 5 ores per bar.
Anet can always easily change the recipes for thigns in the game, like the superior siege weapon blueprints to not require anymore mithril andelder woodlogs, so that WvW’ers wouldn’t be pixxxd at all over that change that mithril would raise in value.
Defacto if anet would do this, I rather see many WvW in fact beign happy about that change then, if upgrading blueprints wouldn’t cost t5 mats anymore, but instead the silly t7 unrefined mats, because then would make WvWs some extra money from selling all of the salvaged mithril ore and elder wood logs they get from player/npc loot bags/chests that they could use alot better fro upgrading strongholds and supply camps what is far more important for WvW for a server on the long run, than those silly material costs for upgrading siege weapons, that aren’t that neccessary at all, because you can do everythign successfully in WvW also just with normal or guild versions of siege weapons!!!
Your understanding of economics…..
I don’t think your suggestions would work.
a) You want to take mithril and elder wood logs out of blueprint upgrades. This takes a sink for both of these out of the economy thus increasing the surplus of both mats even more. Opposite of what you would want to do for your goal.
b) 100 mithrillium for upgrading an exotic weapon to ascended is 100 ectos in price and 100 days. This is far more costly than the current process, and would take 100 days in order to do. No one in their right mind will chose this over the current path. Thus no mithril drained out of the economy.
c)Limiting salvage and node could work, but eventually you will find that the price will skyrocket to an unintended amount as the supply can no longer meet the demand. thus instead of having it in an equilibrium price, it will only continue to rise in price as the sinks remain the same, but the supply wanes down to near nothing.

I don’t know if this is really a “bug” per se. The main benefit of feedback is the fact that it indeed does reflect the target’s attack back at them. Mesmers main use in dungeons is using feedback and time warp. If you take away the ability for a mesmer to actually seriously hurt a boss, then they will become as useful as condi necros in PvE.
I would say that the way they should fix this is by redesigning the wurm’s attack as opposed to nerfing feedback. Maybe it’s a sign that bosses shouldn’t be hitting for so much damage (even spread out) that they can one shot themselves. :P
(As a side note, one of my friends was someone who accidentally did this. He didn’t know he was going to one shot the wurm. He is just a good pve player that understands when to use feedback, and so timed it right in order to hurt the boss. So I wouldn’t always blame the mesmer, unless you have tried it before, you don’t always know how badly the boss is going to hurt itself).

The Infused version of celestial rings missed the buff to celestial stats. Right now the un-infused version of celestial rings actually provide better stats than the infused versions. 44 compared to 46 if I recall correctly. I saw this specifically on Lunaria, Circle of the Moon. In the uninfused version all of the stat buffs were +46 whereas in the infused version they were only +44.
Just FYI (I don’t use it, but a friend noticed it when looking at his rings).

It is kind of unavoidable. It doesn’t have to do with gathering as much as salvaging. When you are 80 most of your loot will be 80. When you salvage your blues and greens you will get a whole bunch of mithril and elder wood logs back. Hence a massive supply, and a low value.
Ascended crafting was meant to suck some of that out of the economy since each of the ectoplasm refinements cost 50 of the refined version of each. It was an ok stopgap, but ultimately there is just too much of it to get rid of it that way (and a lot of people don’t make ascended stuff because the stat difference is small for a lot of money). They would have to put in a gigantic sink in order to restore its value, and it would have to be a continuous sink, otherwise it would only raise the price for a little while.
