Feedback/Questions: Legendaries in Wardrobe

We still don’t know the cost (if they’re even varied per skin rarity). If it’s a high cost, I highly doubt that people will be putting their legendary skins on a low level item. Because they would have to continuously reskin that item as the character levels up. With both stones and crystals merging to one type of cost, it might not even be worth it for a Lvl 1 to have Eternity.

But the motion of having a weapon that costs so much to make now can be duplicated for a much lower price than making another, destroys the value and thought of having another legendary.

As well as fooling other players that you have two incinerators when you don’t even have any on your level 80 alt.

Are you actually one of these people, or just complaining for the sake of complaining? It really seems like you are the latter here…. It still isn’t a piece of cake to get 1 legendary, and you can’t log in on two of your characters at the same time, so they have just made them account bound with a slight cost and not the stats is all.

And ultimately, those people that have made two bolts still have alts (or possible alts) that can make some advantage out of the new system. The only people that are negatively impacted are those who have ~10-15 legendaries. Although it is debatable whether or not those people even care about this change.

Surprised it took this long for someone to notice!

I did notice it in the stream, but I was like: “hey, maybe this is how the dev’s client UI looks like”, and didn’t give much thought afterwards… :P

That’s what I thought when I saw it too. I assumed that “PvP build” meant the build version that they were testing in. For example PvP build 1.0 vs PvP build 1.1" Guess I was thinking more complicated than I should have ;-)

I’m still happy about this change, and believe I will not change on that. The reason being is that they didn’t add cost (unless the unlimited achivement skins now cost to use) they just simplified and enhanced the old system. You still had to pay back then to transmute, you just didn’t get to keep the old skin like you now do.

Honestly the only thing that this game does wrong that makes me upset is the game balance. I really like the other aspects of this game, (sure the Living Story stinks, but at least they are trying and it doesn’t really affect me negatively) just wish the balance could work out better.

So in short I welcome the new wardrobe/dye changes!

Yeah there is no doubt they will be made account bound. The only way you can make money off of this is if you were one of the first to buy, and you instantly flip them while all of the sheep are currently buying them up for insane prices not realizing that instead of making profit, they have just fed the real trade post flippers.

It almost makes me feel bad for them :-/

Feedback/Questions: The Wardrobe System

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

They haven’t increased the cost at all from the current system. I’m not sure why you are complaining now about a cost system that has always been in place. In actuality this is actually saving you money since when you transmute you haven’t lost the old skin like you do now.

This is only a beneficial feature. It hasn’t increased cost by even 1c for you. You still paid these prices before in the form of transmutation crystals and stones.

And can I give a big shout out to anet for making those transmutation stones actually useful for those of us that are at 80 now Glad I didn’t destroy my 100+ like I was so tempted to do!

So first off I LOVE this new wardrobe change. Being able to access my legendary skin across multiple characters just made my day! So thank you very much for this! And they dye change is cool too since now my alts can look awesome too!

Just a quick question on that: What happens with the hot-swap stat ability on legendaries? Can you only use that on the original instance of the weapon? All of them? Or none of them?

Guild Wars books: opinions needed

So far I’ve only read GoA, but I have Destiny’s Edge as well. GoA was pretty poorly written. They could be in one place on one page, and then a city away the next page with two characters dead. There were a couple parts where I had to reread to make sure that the character was dead because it only got one sentence…..

But overall if you like the lore of the game then it was entertaining enough. Like others have said though, don’t expect it to be a well written book and you will be fine.

I’m on Gate of Madness, but I understand the struggle of getting into this game at first. The “tutorial” portion of this game leaves something to be desired. At lower levels you are mainly just trying to learn how to fight regular PvE mobs, and how the mechanics of the game work. Your goal when you first start is mainly to get to level 80 (max level).

After you get to max level then you start “gearing up” your character to have the gear with the best stats/and maybe the look you want. From there it progresses to learning new content (dungeons, wvw, pvp), etc.

I would recommend finding a friendly guild to join. I know that in our guild we do events on a decent number of nights together, and we take newer people under our wings and teach them how to play, and teach them about their class, etc. You can ask questions in map chat and usually people are friendly and will answer your question, but a good guild is really the way to go. I’ve found one of the things that keeps this game going most for me is playing with other people, and doing stuff with my guildies. This game isn’t as much fun to play (at least not for me) alone.

Anyway, welcome to Guild Wars 2!

Just wanted a throw out a shout to Allie. She was just now laying the smack down regarding warriors being an issue.

#allieisourchampion

Hey Justin -

Wanna take a stroll over to the balance team guys and mention the following regarding Mesmers?

During the Ready-Up, they mentioned the new Mesmer GM, “Distruptors Sustainment – gain 1000 Healing Power when interrupting an enemy”. They then mentioned how that is a good opportunity to charge a Mantra to proc Restorative Mantras.

Linky to quote: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k29k0AvnjvM&t=1h25m28s

However, what they may not realize is the healing on Restorative Mantras scales absolutely horribly. +1000 healing power will increase the heal by about 200hp, tops.

Restorative Mantras with 200 healing power: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vgAQBRUjWIxJFAw5A (2640 hp).

Restorative Mantras with 1388 healing power: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vgAQBRUjWIxpHAw5PH-TgAgzCmI6R1jrHTPyes9A (2878 hp)

Or should I make a separate thread? Do you think the developers would read it?

Yeah when they mentioned that one I laughed so hard…. But then again, look at how bad the guardian and ranger ones were as well. sigh The eternal quest for good balance never ceases….

Doesn’t matter if warrior is a well known issue. What we want is for it to be resolved, and if Allie is helping make that happen, it is a good thing.

I’m so glad about this…. It is sad that everyone of my builds has to be almost solely constructed to counter warrior. I have to ALWAYs ensure I have poison otherwise my normal build can’t kill them (when playing guardian that is only mediocre dps, and has no natural access to poison). Warriors are hard to kill for most classes (Besides condi necros and thieves) and hit like trucks at the same time :-(

I just go into wvw into the southern parts of the borderlands when I want to duel. Most of the people down there will be roamers, and when you find just one person roaming you go towards them, making sure they can see you, and you duel.

Unfortunately this means I can’t duel with anyone from my own server :-/

I don’t play warrior in PvP. My warrior is my PvE character, which I also play in WvW. I don’t play hambow, though.

Sorry for getting that wrong then! I just remember seeing you on the livestream duel the first time that we voted and there was a warrior sitting in the lobby of the scoreboard that people thought was yours.

Wasn’t trying to insinuate anything, like I said you are “forum famous” now, and people like how much interaction you have with us!

EDIT: If you ever want to come visit GoM (not sure if you guys can just transfer to a server whenever you want on live servers) you should definitely come WvW with us, or do some PvP! We’d love to have you.

New Utilities in the Feat Patch?

Title pretty much asks the question. We’ve gotten one new heal skill since launch, but it would be nice to get more utility skills to work with. Allows for a lot more builds to exist (in my opinion that will create more builds/shake up the meta more than new GM traits).

Are Those All The Balance Changes?

in PvP

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Its just simply clear that these balance devs just don’t know how to do their jobs correctly. I’ll eat these words right up if the current meta actually does change though (hopes are very low).

And to Murdock, I know you are new to the gw2 pvp scene. The response you gave is the “BS” people are talking about. The community has been saying that the “slow shave” and “powercreep” technique has not been effective for about 4+,5+ months now. So your response is currently receiving a nice ole community flaming treatment. lol

I do feel bad for Allie since she is getting the brunt of all of the frustration when it isn’t her fault (I actually really appreciate how often she posts on the forums in spite of all of the negativity).

That being said the balance team has some serious issues. All of the players know it. I would love to see you guys actually trust the players when they say things. True there are some players that will go “Nerf Mesmer! I got killed by one! Too OP!” But in large there are a lot of players that have played more hours and understand the classes better than your balance team possibly could. I mean I have watched the devs play, and with the exception of Grouch and Powerr I don’t have a lot of faith in their abilities. (Although Powerr’s guard build was questionable….). Letting players find the OP builds for you and then reacting to that quickly is going to be one of your best bets to balance this game. No matter how much you test amongst your developers internally, truth is you guys can’t possibly play as much as some of the players do. (Not that I blame you since it is kind of work to you guys, whereas it is fun for us).

I could easily list out the OP builds right now (Hambow/condi/HS warriors, decap engi, pw thief, etc.) but the point is I think you guys have heard us say what they are for months. It’s time to fix them because they make competitive play very unfun if you aren’t running one of these meta builds.

Tournament of Legends

in PvP

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Ok ok. So PvP gets one of the best reward ever in the game. There’s no other reward in either PvE or WvW that has ever come close to this. It’s nice but pretty ridiculous when you think about it. I can probably understand a choice of a precursor for first place but just getting the legendary itself is overwhelming disappointing for people who don’t PvP.

PVP has no good rewards at all for 1.5 years.

Casuals and pvekitten.lovers should stop whining for every single thing that they can’t get.

But also I agree with this comment:

No offense to whoever came up with this idea but in my honest opinion its very bad and not very thoroughly thought through. The winners should not be awarded with general stuff like legendary weapons or precursors but uniquely designed weapons which will be obtainable only through this tournament.

I think everyone would be more than happy with that solution.

First off, I enjoy all game modes pretty equally, and have played a decent amount in all (although admittedly I would consider my order as wvw > pvp > pve). To all of those people saying that you can just grind a champ train for 200 hours and get a legendary that takes no skill… I challenge you to go out and do that and see how long it will actually take you if you want to do that method of obtaining a legendary. Getting it the real way takes ~ 6 months of playing every day for at least 5 hours. As a predominantly WvW player myself, I make as little money (and arguably less) than a pvp player. So stop complaining about your rewards when WvW players spend every copper that they earn upgrading keeps and camps, and repairing their armor from their countless deaths. You think your rewards are bad, try becoming a dedicated wvw player who pays for superior siege and upgrades constantly. I have to grind dungeons to pay for my WvW habit. You don’t actually need money to play your game mode of choice.

In my opinion the reward should be different. As a person who has played a decent amount of pvp, (10 wins from champ phantom, ~40 from champ paragon) I completely understand that this isn’t going to be “easy” and no one is just going to drop into this tournament and randomly win. The players who win this will be very skilled indeed. I think the difference is that these players spent their time doing what they wanted only, and now are getting the rewards that the rest of us had to go out and do stuff that we didn’t want to do to get.

I think the rewards should absolutely be prestigious. The winners should get completely unique skins that only they can get. I think that would make them happy since it is considered very prestigious, and shows off the work that they have done, and still keeps everyone who got legendaries the standard way happy as well.

I think it is awful that they are offering this. Invalidates those of us that hated doing things like World Exploration, and would rather do WvW but we had to do other game modes. But because Anet favors PvP thinking it will save this game they get a legendary for winning a tournament. I like PvP and do it myself, but giving away something that people grind for for 6 months to people that just mastered one game mode is wrong. Precursor, or one gift I guess is ok, still over the top, but giving away the whole thing is such a slap in the face to the rest of us. A title would have sufficed. Still makes them stand out, but doesn’t invalidate others’ accomplishments.

Thanks Anet…

And how is this different than people buying legendaries off the TP?

At least the people who are winning this are winning based on merit/skill, rather than time/luck/grinding like they have the whole time.

And it’s only 5 people. That’s insignificant.

You shouldn’t be able to buy it on the TP, but two wrongs don’t make a right. Also it isn’t about just the 5 people. It is the precedent this sets. Who’s to say this won’t be standard fare reward for their little “esport” tournaments? They do it once, then they can do it again.

Legendary of choice for 1st place pvp tourney

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Are people seriously insinuating that winning 1st place in a PvP tournament takes less effort than farming/saving for a legendary?

Anyone can farm/save for a legendary, not everyone will be able to win a pvp tournament. Its about time they started adding real rewards in sPvP. Just because it isn’t your preference and rewards something you would want doesn’t make it bad, just makes you jelly.

Just because people don’t enjoy a certain mode doesn’t mean people that do shouldn’t have desirable rewards. It doesn’t affect you at all and nothing is stopping people from competing except their own mentalities.

If its so effortless and easier than other methods, why not jump on it?

A a legendary is far from representing all aspects of a game…. considering if you have enough laurels and earned enough achievement points, the only thing u have to do in WvW is walk around in it. Should is represent all aspects? absolutely, but that will have to cover sPvP as well which it currently does not, which its why it makes since to reward the best sPvP team with one. Its a totally optional reward which in no way dictates your characters performance or ability.

Why do you assume I’m a PvEr? I’m a WvW and PvP person predominantly. I HATED doing world exploration in PvE and it took me a few months. But I still had to do it for my legendary. Why do you think just beacuse you have mastered sPvP you deserve not to have to do the grunt work of a legendary?

Guardian - The Stale Untouched Class

eleshazar.6902

I get what the OP is saying, but to be frank, you should be praying to your god(s) that your class is in a solid place as opposed to the tumult every other class community is in. Sure, if they keep bringing other classes up, eventually Guards might not be in a “good spot” anymore, but then, WAIT FOR IT….

You get the attention you are looking for.

Grass is always greener. “Awww, but that class gets a whole bunch of changes this patch!”

Other class: “Not enough changes, we’re still broken and terrible in some way, robble robble robble bugs robble”

Just like how everyone complains when a WvW match gets stale, then they get into a new match with some other world and beg to be back in their old match. Ridiculous, really.

I have every class but engineer at level 80 (he is almost there) and I play them all quite frequently. So I don’t really think this is an issue of perception of something I don’t know about. I play the other classes so I know their problems and their strengths. I enjoy the way that they change and have new opportunities. Sometimes those changes stink, and sometimes they are awesome. I would rather have that roller coaster on guardian than the run the same build for over a year because that’s all anet really wants guardians to do.

what! stale? really? I recently experimented with a condi spec and one that actually works in pvp :p decent survivability, decent power and condi dmg and decent support to allies and debuffs to enemies.

Then there’s the healway guardian.

The zerker GS guardian with spirits (50% boost to spirit dmg is crazy).

Shouting standard guardian

Pokeball hammer guardian

etc. you’ve got plenty of choice and there’s even still some uncharted teritory. Try elementalist all they can do is put 30 in water and 30 in arcane just to be able to have sustain on par with other classes.

You just put spirit guardian down as a viable build…. Along with condition damage…

I mentioned I’m talking high level pve/pvp both of those builds will get you kicked in less than 5 seconds from a group in pve, and make your teammates cry in pvp.

And I run a zerker staff ele with 30/30/0/10/0 and I survive pretty well in pvp and rarely ever die in pve.

In regards to “Guardians in a good spot.” Yes, we are, but when you start buffing other classes to make them better but leave us where we are, eventually that good spot isn’t looking so good anymore.

Absolutely this. Other classes get buffed, and slowly guardians are sliding behind imo. We really are the less needed heavy class. People really only want us in wvw to be might, protection, and stability buff bots. In high end PvE/sPvP (not the average runs where people need the support to stay alive, but a run where everyone knows how to play their class to keep themselves alive) a Warrior is far more useful to have in your party since they can support as well/damage more, or bunk better if they want to.

I’m not arguing that the class is not balanced. I’m arguing that it is getting stale. They made it so that it fits its niche roll. You can either be a bunker and deal no damage. Or you can be decent dps and be as glassy as a thief (thief has stealth as a defense where we do not, so I would argue they are less glassy than us, and ele has movement which we do not, so they also are better GCs than we are). What they haven’t done is given it a new face at all. They have left it alone because they actually did something right. Just because it is balanced doesn’t mean that you never touch the class again. I would rather they break the class and then nerf us, than remain the stale left alone one balanced class in the game.

If we are the only balanced class and the others keep changing, we get screwed quite often when others hit the lime light. Honestly if they sold a gemstore item allowing me to change professions of any two of my 80s, I would change my guardian into one of my other professions in a heartbeat. I mean my warrior can do everything my guard can do, but at the same time, and better. If I didn’t have legendaries and ascended armor that was soulbound, I would name change and never use my guard again….

I was hoping, beyond all hopes, that they would actually touch guardian in this feature patch. But yet again we get the same line we have gotten for the past year: “Guardians are in a good spot right now.”

Why do the developers never do anything to spice up guardians? We are just the bunker buff bot of the game, and it gets boring. It’s sad that I honestly believe the reason for the lack of changes is because the developers don’t really understand guardian at all (the live stream where it took them 45 seconds to find the most commonly used utility for guardian -.-)

And all of the “spruce-ups” that they do for us are around things that are useless to us. Adding 10% damage to sword in a trait line very very few guardians go into. Adding Litany of Wrath which is a useless skill. Adding in things focused on burning, yet we don’t do condition builds because we only have access to one damaging condition.

I love my guardian, and I have spent a lot of time on him, but this same line of “They are in a good spot” is getting very old. Everyone else gets neat changes, and we play the same builds we played since day 1. Is it too much to ask for you to be a little daring with the class?

To the OP. It seems like you just want to do a nice thing and don’t really care about your personal wealth. What you can do if you want to help out the less fortunate players is to become part of a guild with a guild bank. At that point you can simply place them in there to donate them to less fortunate guildies. And to offset your profit loss if you wish, you can sell some at the high rate on the TP.

There is a guy that I know that is exceedingly wealthy (almost to an unbelievable sense). He rarely tells anyone that he is wealthy, and when he hears someone randomly talk about an item they are grinding for, he gives them a donation to help them achieve their goal. You are always welcome to do the same thing, and I assure you you will make people’s days by doing so.

[PvX] Guardian, all new GM traits are trash

in Profession Balance

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Sorry to sound mean but;

Do you really think people will choose 3k health over goodies such as Pure of voice and Battle presence? 3k health means NOTHING in PVP as well as fractals where u get 2-3 shot regardless of health.

Honor has some of the best traits in the game and the new trait falls short to even some of the adept traits in honor, not to mention grandmaster. Please, change this trait, or make it adept and throw it somewhere in valor or even virtues, but as of right now it does NOT deserve to be grandmaster

I actually disagree with this. As someone who plays main guardian (and has more hours on him then I care to admit publically) this trait is good for builds that utilize this line but aren’t focused on the typical Shout/AH build. For me I use meditations while also being somewhat tanky. Right now I hate the grandmaster traits in honor. I need that vitality because of the unfair bias against guardians having natural medium/high health (a defensive class with low health… makes perfect sense). So for me I run battle presence because that extra 50 vitality is huge for me, but I find that trait completely useless in world where the passive healing on VoR stinks, and things in wvw/pve will one shot you regardless.

I’m just peeved that we have to trait to have decent health when we aren’t a high damage class…. But I guess if I wanted easy mode I’d play my warrior.

I agree that this trait is stupid, but at the same time you can’t say ranger is the only one that suffers from this. The ranged attacks on guardian are all slow as kitten. You can NEVER believe that a guardian projectile is going to hit its mark.

Aquatic Benevolence - new grandmaster trait

who in the world will ever equip a GRANDmaster trait which won’t give him/her aaaany benefit at all? o.O
we have been asking for improved self sustain….and we get turned into buffslaves? sounds legit.

Correct version would’ve been: “aquatic benevolence: +35% healing to caster, +25% to allies”. This is something I might consider to equip, not their version :\

This made me laugh so hard. Ummm ever heard of what they did to guardians? They’ve been making us defensive buff bot slaves. Take a look in our vitality line… One of our grandmasters (and arguably the other as well) are for party benefit, and not the guardian.

Why remove glory before new system is in?

in PvP

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

They already mentioned this a while back, which was that glory needs to be removed due to problems it might cause when the new system is in place (hence “maintenance build”) in order for them to have no problems implementing the new system rather than remove the old (glory) and implement the new system all in 1 patch…. flawlessly.

I’ll say first off that I don’t understand their code base, or what they are doing (beyond the fact that the game is predominantly done in C# with the TP being in HTML and JS ugh….). But as a person who works with code everyday, I just don’t think this was their only option. It may have saved them a week or so of development, but I just don’t believe that it was impossible for them to not do this “phase” out methodology that leaves us with a gap for who knows how long….

in PvP

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

I’m just really confused…. Why are they “phasing” out glory instead of just switching when the time comes? They could leave the vendors in after the switch but at least we would be rewarded for winning matches in between. Now we are without rewards (some silver and slightly more rank points which at high levels take forever to get anywhere anyway) for an “indefinite” amount of time. No one has any clue when the patch is because they are being tight lipped, and they took away what meager rewards were in place….

I honestly (not sarcastic) want to know what the reasoning behind doing it this way? Someone must have had some logic to this, why not share that logic with the unhappy players that now have no rewards?

List Top 3 Things You Want Anet to Focus On

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

So the title says it all.

All I want here is for you to put the top three areas of this game that you personally would like to see Anet spend their time on and 1 that you wish they would spend less on. No paragraphs, just 1, 2, 3, and 1. This might help Anet get some direction as to what the player base really sees as important to the future of this game. I know they try hard, but if we don’t tell them what we want them to prioritize, they just get flooded with feedback.

Please keep this thread simple, respectful, and constructive. Really this is to help, so please no derailments.

My list:
Prioritize:
1)Profession Balance: Fix useless utilities, and nerf the OP “meta builds/classes” to match the other classes.
2) More permanent content, especially new utilities
3) Fix outstanding bugs in content: In Dungeons, WvW, utilities, etc.

Spend Less Time On:
1)Living Story: Less temporary content that feels rushed

Join the warriors. We have easiness.

I actually made my warrior solely for this reason (well actually I’m almost done getting all profs to 80). After doing so, however, and realizing I could tick torment for 10k on someone with sword 4, have great mobility, be tanky at the same time, and just all around face roll people with ease, I shelved him (besides for speed dungeon runs). Overall it is too easy. I honestly get no pleasure killing someone on a warrior because I feel like I cheated. It took me less skill to kill them than it does for them to kill me. So I went back to my guard in wvw after that. Until warriors become fair I boycott using them against other players (No warrior wvw or pvp for me).

the unkillable (i win) thief

in Profession Balance

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Honestly… I don’t understand these threads complaining about thieves. I personally main guardian, and after I played my own thief and got it to 80 I have not lost 1v1 to a thief in wvw since. And that isn’t an exaggeration. Thieves are easy to kill once you understand them. Stealth does not make them invulnerable. You swing a whirling wrath, smite condition, purging flames, or one of our other AoEs, and you can easily kill a thief while they are in stealth. Also as a guard you should never lose to a thief. Pop retaliation and voila, thief kills themself. Or pop aegis when they stealth if they use main hand dagger since they will be going for a backstab. You block their hard hitting attack right there.

I think you main problem is that when a thief stealths you assume they are invulnerable and you can’t hit them. I’m not usually one that goes “L2P” but in this case it really is the truth of it. I’m sorry that you struggle with them, but honestly, the hardest class for a thief to kill is guardian (engis and necros are also difficult if running massive condis). You really just need to use one of your character slots to make a thief, and play it to 80. You will understand how they work, and how very fragile they actually are.

Now if we really want to talk about an OP class…. cough warrior cough

Buff elementalist autoattacks.

in Profession Balance

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

And yet bringing up ranged weapon damage is useless under a PvE context.

In PvE anyone who is competent melees, so you are failing by setting the bar at the ranged weapon line.

Also, please, Fireball doesn’t hit for 6k without might stacks and ideal conditions. I run full berk with food and at best it crits for about 4k without might stacks.

And still you guys miss the point that it’s not that great considering it’s a 4k crit OVER a 1 second activation time and its travel time.

I personally think you need to learn to play ele… In pvp they suck, in pve they are amazing. I wouldn’t speed run a dungeon without one if I can help it. Ever hear of this funny thing called fgs that can down lupi in about 30 seconds with 2 eles in the party? That’s why eles auto attacks aren’t great, because their other dps skills are off the chart. I play a full zerk staff ele, and I can out dps anyone else in my party (except warriors since warriors are OP). I rarely if ever use my auto attack.

Calling for self "Nerf" on Necro Marks

in Profession Balance

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

I disagree with changing how marks work. The only thing that should happen is give each mark a disinctive cast animation.

Giving marks different animations if they already on the ground is not really that important as any competent player will avoid/dodge roll a mark no matter what mark it is.

I don’t know that this is always true. I agree most of the time you will avoid or dodge them, but if it is in pvp and the mark is placed on a point you might choose to step in the mark of blood and take the penalty to prevent the cap, whereas if it is chillbains you might make a different decision.

Dev livestream: Ready Up: March 14 @ 12pm – All-Star scrim!

in PvP

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Maybe I just misunderstood what this ready up series was for, but to me it seems like lately it has changed and gone in a different direction.

From my understanding, ready up was supposed to be a series that informed us of upcoming changes and how the game is progressing in terms of balancing and new features. The first few episodes were really great and informative to watch like the previewing of balancing, new skills and so on, but the last couple of streams has been like 5-10 minutes of basically nothing new information, and then the other 50 or so mins just watching people do a match of pvp.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the series, but you keep saying we don’t want to miss it because of the new stuff, but all you keep saying on the last episodes is you are removing glory and so on, stuff we already knew ages ago, but we still have no clue at all on what’s to actually come and how the game is shaping in the near future.

Ps. Josh is extremely funny to watch, so I always tune in any way even if I get nothing from it

Tend to agree with this. I like playing pvp, but I have no interest in watching other people play matches. This show used to be a preview of what was to come, and was worth watching. Now it is a “we promise something nice will come, but we can’t tell you when or what…. so be excited! Now watch these people try to kill each other for the next hour.” I will be turning it off when the match starts now…

Calling for self "Nerf" on Necro Marks

in Profession Balance

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Ok for all of those saying “Quit calling for necro nerfs”. I AM A NECRO (54% necro played in pvp ~300 tourney games on one)! And this isn’t calling for a nerf, it is just saying that skills that can’t be predicted are an unfair advantage. If you want to rely on gimmicks to win, then go play warrior. As a necro I think people should be able to react to me just as well as I can react to them. In high level pvp this just doesn’t seem fair to me that I get this advantage.

Was looking for write alot about how idiot u are but u dont deserve i spend so much time on it.

Im just gonna say u that : Play an other class and leave necro.

If u want talk about fair stuff ask for a war hammer nerf + their heal signet a good 50% reduce instead the crap 7% they talk about …

Be logic next time u want speak about necro, u played the class fews days u think about change our gaming already … Dont u want change thiefs / rangers traps and sneak also for being visible would be fair i think !?

Not even sure why I’m bothering responding to you…. But if you read my post, in PvP I main necro. 54% of my pvp games have been on necro, and I’ve had mine at 80 for ~5-6 months now.

Of course warrior is OP and needs the most balance. But a) the devs don’t care and won’t listen so no use continuing on that rant. They are biased. End of story. b) Just because one class is broken doesn’t mean it is ok for other classes to have some broken things too.

Besides, why are you worried about marks symbols being larger/more different? Why are you so opposed to fair play? If your opponent is bad, they won’t react any differently than they do now. Seems to me you are just as bad as the warriors that enjoy playing simply because they can beat better players by relying on their broken class.

Why it's hard to balance GW2

in PvP

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

The day they implement this is the day I’m done with GW2.

Personally what excites me about a game is finding a strong build. If you implement a style in which your build really doesn’t matter, then you lose the whole aspect of creating builds as an avenue of the competition. Theory-crafting becomes a thing of the past. Everyone essentially is playing the same thing. It isn’t about thinking at that point, it is all about in the battle who reacts faster. I think that should only be 50% of the competition. 50% should take place off the field when you make your choices about what you are going to bring with you to try to survive and thrive in the action. It is what separates RPGs as thinking games, from FPS which are action based anyone can do it with practice games.

I think GW1 had even more customization than GW2 and that game was balanced amazingly. Honestly, if anything, I would love to see them encourage more customization by not making stats so tied to armor which in pve/wvw is expensive to change, and give us more utility skills to pick from.

The problem with balance in this game isn’t with the range of customization. It is with the lack of the trinity. They took out the trinity, so now support builds are useless. Everyone can support themselves. And as such DPS will always be the best build. Bring just enough support to keep yourself alive, and then just dps like crazy to kill fast. If Anet truly doesn’t want the trinity then they have to accept the fact that support builds are just not viable. If they want support builds to be viable then they have to bring back the trinity. Their problem is that they want to have their cake and eat it too.
