Dragonhunter is a joke...

I haven’t played dragonhunter, only played reaper really and some rev. So I can’t comment much, but will say that the traps need to be able to be placed at range. I mean the whole thing with dragonhunter is that it’s using it’s energy or light to create the traps, so I don’t see why they can’t add in a sort of like pillar shining down on where the trap is being placed on the initial cast, similar to what happens when a warrior summons a banner.

It’s essentially because the whole elite specialization was half kittened. My guess is that each of the devs that are managing an elite spec (Robert Gee, Karl, Roy, etc.) each got assigned a few to manage. Basically we got the short end of the straw and our dev did nothing to actually make this work. It was like a kid turning in a homework assignment just trying to get the passing “C”. I mean, come on, even the name reeks of lack of effort.

Reapers are WAY to tanky

in PvP

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Reaper has way, way, way, to high of dps to be as tanky as they are. Hands down Reaper was the best elite spec by far. The amount of damage that they can deal is absolutely ridiculous. Their only weakness at the moment is their lack of gap closers, and I can’t even imagine if you get stuck in melee range with one. The fact that you can stack 11 stacks of poison on someone with rs 4? Or that a shout for might can place 14-22 stacks of might on yourself? Or that gs3 into gs4 can take all/most of someone’s health? And all the while with two health bars to burn through like it’s nothing. I can’t honestly believe that Reapers will be let into the game without some serious tweaking.

don’t you mean gs3 into gs2?

Yes typo when typing fast. I meant gs3 > gs 2.

And please all of you that just come straight out of the necro forums to attack anyone that doesn’t agree with you, please go back there with your toxicity. Some of us who play necro actually want a balanced game… I love the elite spec, but I also want it to be in line with the others. Last thing I want is the flavor of the month cheese build to be reaper.

To all those criticizing my post: I wasn’t complaining about being against a reaper. I was playing the reaper. Maybe you haven’t read my signature, but one of the classes I have champ title in is NECRO. I’m just saying that I don’t want necro to become a cheese class. I’m super glad it has a really nice specialization. And I don’t think it needs to be nerfed into the ground. But it is far to easy at the moment to pull off crazy dps on it which feels unfair to me. I’m happy all of you are having a blast in this forum just going “omg yay reaper, l2p, you must suck if you think tweak!” but some of us actually want a balanced game. And no two instant cast shouts is not a huge setup to pull off, and in conquest standing on a point against a necro with a huge cleave radius for more than a second is highly likely when you are trying to hold the point from being capped.

I agree that Reapers are way to high in dps right now. The answer is constantly, “Well just stay away from them”. The problem is in conquest game mode you can’t just stay back. GS3 > GS 2 combo can wipe most people’s health bars, especially when you add in a shout that can give you 14-22 stacks of might. Oh and you can make it unblockable. And did I mention that RS 4 can put 11 stacks of poison on someone, all while having an extremely high damage coefficient? Plus the heartseeker skill just tops it off. Ultimately I can’t see how reaper can be allowed into the game as strong as it is right now, unless other professions get some serious buffs. This to me seems like the start of power creep…

BWE 2 Dragonhunter feedback thread:

in Guardian

eleshazar.6902

I bought my upgrade after BW1 so my experience is only from BWE 2.

Overall I was really unimpressed with DH specialization. The traits were lackluster, the traps casting time was too long, they dealt very little damage, and the virtues not being instant cast felt very weird (although I can see why they aren’t).

The main problem I see is that DH is not a viable power specilization. Because of the heavy reliance on virtues you are almost required to take the Virtues trait line with the DH traitline in order to make it worthwhile. That leaves you only one trait line to work with, and so many of the damage dealing traits are split across Radiance and Zeal. Ultimately because so much of DH centers around virtues, it limits what you can build because you NEED the virtues line. I personally think that is a mistake that makes it very unrewarding to take DH. In my opinion DH is as bad as tempest right now.

My side note regarding all specializations: Would it be impossible to separate use of the new class weapons/or separate the elite specs from traitlines? The problem is that if you want to use any of the new stuff, you have to sacrifice a trait line. Maybe we want to try out longbow but don’t want the DH traitline? It just felt very limiting on every class I tried to be barred from an elite spec and new weps if you didn’t take a traitline, even if it was lackluster. I wish you could choose to invest into a traitline to make your elite spec better, but it is not a prerequisite of playing an elite spec.

New EULA

I’m very interested to know that about that too eleshazar… I’m also curious about this-

“We and our third party advertising and analytics providers use tracking identifiers (such as Clear GIFs, pixels, web beacons) to track the online movements of web users. Unlike cookies, tracking identifiers are tiny graphics that are embedded invisibly on web pages or in HTML-based emails. We and our third party providers may place tracking identifiers on our Sites that track what other websites you visit (both before and after visiting the Sites) to obtain information about the effectiveness of advertisements on our Sites as well as on other websites and to help us improve our business and our Sites.”

Is it just the websites we visit before and after or are we giving it permission to track us constantly? And does not agreeing to this EULA stop this occurring?

Oh, I didn’t even see that part. What section was that under? Fortunately NoScript will help with a bunch of those things, although embeded iframes (clear gifs/pixels) are a little bit harder to stop from tracking you.

New EULA

eleshazar.6902

Didn’t see this post until now, but can you elaborate a bit more on the “monitoring” clause? The language here seems extremely permissive and basically (if I’m reading it correctly, I’m not a lawyer) allows you guys to monitor our entire computer. Since the game runs as Administrator/root it can make system calls that can tell you anything you want to know about our computer/files/programs running/sensitive stuff stored in RAM. Is that really necessary? To me it seems overly broad and invasive. Do you guys have a policy about storing that information? Retention timelines, etc? It just makes me nervous that my data can be blindly collected by you guys under this contract.

Section in question:
ArenaNet HAS THE RIGHT, BUT NO OBLIGATION, TO MONITOR OPERATION OF ANY SERVICE, CONTENT OR GAME AT ANY TIME AND IN ANY MATTER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MONITORING COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACES, STORAGE DEVICES, RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY, OR CPU PROCESSES RELATED TO HARDWARE YOU USE WITH THE GAME. SUCH MONITORING MAY ALSO INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, MONITORING FOR THE PURPOSES OF DETECTING THE GAME UNDER SECTION 8© or 8(e). YOU CONSENT TO THE FOREGOING MONITORING AND ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ArenaNet MAY, AT ANY TIME, AND IN ANY MANNER, COMMUNICATE ANY INFORMATION BETWEEN HARDWARE YOU USE WITH THE GAME AND ANY MECHANISM ArenaNet MAY CHOOSE FOR SUCH COMMUNICATIONS. YOU ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT AS A RESULT OF SUCH MONITORING ArenaNet MAY IN ITS REASONABLE DISCRETION TAKE ANY ACTION, OR NO ACTION WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

CHANGING ANY PORTION OF THE SERVICE, CONTENT OR GAME;
SEEKING RECOURSE AGAINST YOU BY WAY OF ANY PROCEEDING ARENANET DEEMS APPROPRIATE UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES; AND/OR
DETERMINING THAT YOU ARE NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH ALL PROVISIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT AND TERMINATING YOUR ACCOUNT UNDER SECTION 3(b). ARENANET HAS THE RIGHT, BUT NO OBLIGATION, TO PROVIDE YOU WITH NOTICE BEFORE SUCH TERMINATION.

This thread New EULA has a red post (and is on the first page of this forum)

Thanks! I was able to look at the links and find that the monitoring clause was in the original as well (which is what I was more concerned about). Admittedly I neglected to read the EULA when I first installed since I was too excited to play. I still want clarification on the clause, however, since I can simply uninstall, or go virtual (which would be highly unfortunate) if I’m worried about the surveillance from now on.

ToS Update and Clarification on Clauses

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

The first part, in the limited time I have atm, simply seems to be about the method of acquisition of a game key, whether by purchase or giveaway.

As for the second, that pertains to enforcement of their ToU/ToS regarding violations. Likely specifically those regarding anything client-side. Additionally, the extent of monitoring would likely simply be the game files and memory locations the game is residing in, as well as network traffic, and any programs running concurrently that happen to sniff at those things (such as CE) to find if something is encroaching where it should not. Beyond personal observations that seem reasonable, short of a legitimate lawsuit subpoena, Anet’s not likely going to give you a verbatim explanation of what limits there are to the monitoring. Why monitor in the first place if you’ve told those you’re monitoring FOR exactly how to avoid said monitoring?

And FINALLY, you’ll notice in the last section you quoted, the ToS is a blanket ToS for all of Anet’s stuff, NOT specifically GW2. This means that Anet’s likely got other projects in the works, and needed to update the ToS to provide themselves legal coverage over what they need to do to operate those projects.

Your assumption that the monitoring is limited to the area where the game resides isn’t actually based on anything though, which is why I’m asking the question. From a technological stand point, a program that runs as administrator on windows or root on linux/POSIX CAN make system calls that will tell them more than just what their program is accessing. They could list your entire hard drive, access any file, read areas of RAM which can include sensitive information, etc. That’s what worries me. You simply assume that they don’t do it, but this contract allows them from a legal stand point to do so (and I know that the technological capability is there).

The part about the payment method is more of a side note. I can live if they change their model to subscription; I simply stop playing if I find it not worth it. I’m far more concerned with the blanket allowance of surveillance of any device that I run their software on.

So my game today asked me to accept the new Terms of Service before logging in. I read through and noticed two passages that seem somewhat concerning to me. Can we get any clearer information regarding these?

First is section 4(b)
Periodic Payments Related to Accounts, Service and Content – ArenaNet may, in its reasonable discretion, require You to pay to establish or maintain any Account, to use any Service or to use any Content. You acknowledge that if You are required to do so, but do not, then ArenaNet may terminate Your Account under Section 3(b). You additionally acknowledge that ArenaNet may require such payments on any basis it deems appropriate in its reasonable discretion, including but not limited to any per-use or periodic basis (such as a number of hours, days or months). And You acknowledge that ArenaNet may, in its reasonable discretion, establish the timing and form in which such payment must be made, including but not limited to credit cards or online payment services. EXCEPT FOR THE LIMITED CIRCUMSTANCES OTHERWISE SET FORTH HEREIN, YOU ALSO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT ARENANET HAS NO OBLIGATION TO REFUND ANY PAYMENTS, IN WHOLE OR IN PART, RELATED TO AN ACCOUNT WHETHER OR NOT SUCH PAYMENTS WERE MADE OR AUTHORIZED BY YOU, FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO INTERRUPTION OR UNAVAILABILITY OF SERVICE (SEE ALSO SECTION 10). YOU ACKNOWLEDGE, AND FURTHER AGREE, THAT ArenaNet MAY, IN ITS REASONABLE DISCRETION, TERMINATE UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 3(b) ANY ACCOUNT RELATED TO ANY ATTEMPT TO OBTAIN A REFUND OF ANY PAYMENTS, WHETHER SUCH ATTEMPTS ARE MADE BY CONTACTING AN ISSUER OF CREDIT CARDS OR OTHERWISE, AND THAT ARENANET MAY TAKE ANY OTHER ACTION IT DEEMS APPROPRIATE UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO RECOURSE BY WAY OF ANY COLLECTION AGENCY AND/OR CREDIT REPORTING AGENCY WHEN A REFUND HAS BEEN OBTAINED WITHOUT SIGNED WRITTEN CONSENT FROM A LEGALLY AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE OF ARENANET.

Does this mean that at some point the game could switch to a subscription model, and we would lose our accounts if we chose not to pay? Is this added in because you expect this change, or just as a safeguard in case you choose to change your business model?

The other part that seems highly concerning is section 7(d).

What are the limitations on that monitoring? Since GW2 runs as Admin it is technologically possible (and if we accept this agreement, legal) for you to monitor our hard drives, items in RAM (which includes passwords for other applications), as well as what processes we are running. That seems rather excessive just to ensure that people are not exploiting or cheating. Are you monitoring all users carte blanche, or is this only in targeted cases where cheating is suspected? If it is carte blanche that seems extremely overhanded….

TLDR; Concerned about the ability to instantly switch to subscription model, and even more concerned that this agreement gives you the legal ability to monitor our entire computer including things that you have no business monitoring.

https://youtu.be/bqfUi9DzBuo

Oh yah, he’s also banned

You should match his login IP to other accounts, and go after his main. Banning that account is punishment, but if it were a throw away account that he got for the $10 sale, then he may do it again.

I never said this was the only one of his accounts that was banned

I hope that they did more than just match the same login IP to other accounts. I work in Information Security myself. Most home customers have DHCP allocated addresses from their ISPs (getting a static one usually costs a fee). While the chance of one Guild Wars customer getting handed an IP that was previously used by another customer is small, it is definitely still possible with the crowded IPv4 space that they Internet is struggling with. A lot of people play GW2….

Is gw1 still worth buying?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

As far as population, there is still a reasonably healthy trading region in Kamadan US-1. Kamadan occasionally hits 3 US districts. There are, depending on the time of day, also people around Eye of the North, Embark Beach, and Lion’s Arch. Pre-Searing is also fairly active. The outpost(s) for the Zaishen mission, bounty, and vanquish can also be active, and you can join PUG’s for those.

Outposts, towns, and missions that are not a recent Zaishen are often deserted. Much of PvP is either bots or dead. Jade Quarry is about the only casual PvP format that you can still get a match in a reasonable time (and that’s mostly because of so many bots).

No longer true for JQ. There was a mass banning a few months ago that eliminated almost all of the bots that were botting in JQ. The only time you can get a match since the mass ban is during the bonus week.

I still very much enjoy Guild Wars 1. I wouldn’t compare it to Guild Wars 2. They really are different games.

Guild Wars 1:
Pros:
More skills
Way more content
More challenge to it
More strategic
Good AI and customizable heroes. (You get to make their builds). The AI heros in GW1 are overpowered…
Able to solo pretty much everything since you can control the AI.

Cons:
Not really a casual game for achievements (Not necessarily a con, but achievements actually mean something in this game)
No jumping
Graphics are outdated, although not terrible
No trading post, have to trade via chat, hard to tell how much items are worth
Can’t use skills while moving, no dodging
Skills take work to find and unlock

Overall I like GW1 better, but I still enjoy GW2. I think that the massive amount of skills makes GW1 more strategically challenging (which I like), and it lets you come up with fun and interesting builds. There is so much content to do that you will probably never run out of things to do for years. I do wish it had combat fluidity like GW2 has with dodging, jumping, and casting while moving. It is just different. Definitely worth the money in my opinion, however.

I can say that I have experienced this as the owner of two accounts. I bought a second account that only my bf uses (not account sharing since it is registered to him and I don’t use it, I just paid for it) and he gets ridiculously better loot. We both have noticed it. His very first chest he opened he got a full BL ticket on day 1. He consistently gets more exotic drops than I do. My account has far more hours (thousands more) and my AP is up to ~15-16k? I definitely think that not all accounts are created equal.

I really would love to see something Fort Aspenwood/Jade Quarry style from Guild Wars 1 be put into Guild Wars 2. Those were actually some of my favorite things to do in GW1, and unfortunately you can’t do them anymore since no one queues for them. I feel like that type of large scale map with sub objectives would work really well in a game where you don’t have a trinity and any class can work in a 1v1 situation or build for a group structure.

Just my 2 cents.

specs: not able to use more than 3 lines?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

Coming here to drop my 2 cents.

Many of my current builds are spread across several traitlines and pick up two masters instead of a grand master, or two adepts instead of a master.

I’m really sad about this change. I know that they are doing it because they seem to have difficulty balancing the game, but I’d prefer less balance and more build options rather than being shoe-horned into the same builds that everyone else runs. There are definitely some cases where there are no good grandmaster or good master traits and you want to pick up one of a lower tier.

I’m really against the idea of forcing people to run cookie cutter builds like this. We are supposed to be getting more build options, not less. I don’t mind them combining and trimming traits, but forcing only 3 lines and forcing adept, master, grandmaster is a huge mistake in my opinion.

Proposed Changes for Engineer Turrets

I think this is a really good start.

The only thing that I still think needs to be looked at is the Rocket Turret. It’s damage and rate of fire is what makes the turret engi as dangerous as they are. They deal a lot of damage on a fairly regular rate. My concern is that an engi can be tanky and still deal a lot of damage because of it’s high base damage rate.

Would it be impossible to make rocket turret have a lower base damage rate, but to compensate make it scale with power enough to where it can be as powerful as it is now if the engi is using offensive stats?

No one should beat even a terrible player while tabbed out of the game and only using one ability (elixir X). A player actually playing the game should ALWAYS beat an afk one. And the thief actually tried to use dagger storm to reflect and kill the turrets, so he at least made an attempt to play smart.

And judging by your comment history you have a habbit of trying to defend the brokeness of Engi turrets. And I have plenty of experience on Engi using zerk kit build as well as occasional condi kit build. So yes I do know how easy and broken turrets are.

So here is some supporting evidence:

I did a netstat -b to find the IP address that my gw2 client is trying to talk to.

Then I did a tracert to that. There is an initial timeout that happens between me and my ISP, but that was only for a 7ms delay, and the real timeout came later near Chicago.

Then I did a tracert to google.com and didn’t have any problems all, but the route didn’t go through Chicago.

I’m not sure if this is Chicago’s fault since I haven’t experimented enough to get enough sample data flowing through Chicago, but it is odd that only guild wars 2 update traffic seems to be getting lost amidst the shuffle. My other internet traffic is working just fine. Only the updates seem to be causing problems.

EDIT: In case it helps the Gw2.exe process just sits at 25% CPU usage (split across my four cores) as it attempts to download. Honestly I have lost 5 matches in a row (first time playing since change, haven’t won a match). I used to “team queue” by myself before the change, and since my mmr was high I would usually end up with premades and the matches would be fun and competitive. Now I get matched up with other people queueing by themselves, and it is filled with toxic builds like mm necro. 2 power rangers, a few d/d cele strength rune eles, etc. It is absolutely awful and no fun to play. I refuse to resort to running a toxic build in order to compete. Can MMR be taken more into account than it is? I feel like I’m now forced into the old solo Q which I hated because of the amount of toxic builds.

Go Back to Season 1's Format

In my opinion Season 2 is far better in terms of story and content than Season 1. I think they are making great changes in the right direction. Simply because you liked Season 1 better doesn’t mean that that is the majority opinion. You are free to feel that way, but don’t assume to speak for everyone.

I’m only on “Hidden Arcana” of the story so far (no spoilers) but I just have to say how nostalgic this episode in particular is making me. It is beautifully done, filled with good lore, and really has drawn me in. This is so well done.

Just figure you guys should get thanks when you do stuff so well since I know I’m one of the many that criticizes when things don’t go as hoped.

Lunatic Unreachable Exploit Spot

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

eleshazar.6902

There is a spot in the LI that can only be reached by villagers, or if a ghosts gets enough kills to make them fast enough to equal a villager’s speed a ghost with no or only a few kills cannot reach it. It is in the south east corner of the map. I saw someone do it, and then replicated myself (I quit the game before the end though so I got no reward).

I know you guys probably won’t bother fixing this since the minigame is only here for one more week, but if you want me to replicate in screenshots, or a video, I can show you how. An invisible wall can easily fix this.

LOL, looks like torches and pitchforks time.

And Gaile, people are reacting in an understandable manner.

It’s because they are angry.

The big question in my mind, is why?

Yeah, I was thinking the same about the pitchforks and torches.

I don’t discount players when they are upset, though, and I truly understand that sometimes things hit close to home and cause some angst, anger, upset, any sort of reaction. (I’d think it was possible to have the discussion without it devolving into unpleasantness, but then, I always was an optimist! )

I asked a quick question of a team leader about the changes. I thought the answers were pretty clear so I posted them. But if you want more info, maybe there’s more to be learned and I’ll ask about that tomorrow.

To be fair to the players, you guys don’t exactly have the best track record when it comes to responding to feedback. You guys tend to take the “my way or the highway” approach to a lot of changes. I can think of quite a few examples of you guys asking for feedback, and then just throwing it out the door and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has a running list (Fractal reset, megaserver, trait/leveling changes, ascended gear, watchwork mining pick, trade post changes, a million balance related things, etc).

Being hit after stealth.

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: eleshazar.6902

eleshazar.6902

The only benefit to stealth is to hide in the open and cannot be directly targeted through the interface. If a user or NPC can predict your movements and manage to hit you despite this, you have bigger problems. The revealed aspect is to prevent excessive abuse.

It has nothing to do with player skill on either end.

A skill that has a long duration channel which is cast before the target enters stealth will continue to track and hit the target.

This is indeed apparently intended behavior.

You can however break LoS and force obstructed (with or without stealth).

This is correct. Rapid fire (even before it became wildly OP) tracks through stealth IF the ranger started the channel while you were out of stealth. Channeled skills continue to hit if the activation occured before stealth. Basically stealth works by cutting off the ability to directly target someone. If you break that target after the skill has begun the skill still completes. If you break their ability to target before they activate the channel, then it will not hit you.

Trading Post with IIS7 screen (Fixed)

For the OP, do complete malware scans – this looks like a browser hijack to me.

It isn’t a browser hijack, it is the default landing page for an IIS server backend. Obviously Anet is using IIS for the TP (which is done in JS and HTML unlike the C# that most of the rest of the game is done in). It is a problem on their end since the base URL for the TP shouldn’t land you on the deafult landing page. It is something they have to fix. I’m not having this problem, so I haven’t tested the fix someone else recommended, but I would try that if you use Windows. If like my bf you use Mac, then you either have to figure out where the Appdata folder equivalent for Mac is, or sit tight for a fix.

It is a transform bug that hit with the September patch. Basically whenever you are transformed you can’t change your skills. Unfortunately, this affects times when the game transforms you as well (Ascalon fractal, AC p3, Therma fractal, etc.). I haven’t tried the workaround that the other person suggested (exit instance then return), but unfortunately in fractals that will lead to your death (exploit prevention). :-(

3k hours| 575+days | 850g+ No precursor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

eleshazar.6902

3000 hours, 575 days played, 850g in gambled rares/exotics, no precursor.

So in all seriousness: Is there an estimated timeline for the precursor scavenger hunt? We were told it would be here by end of 2013, it is almost a full year later (over a year after the announcement) and full silence from Anet. Can we get an update on this? Or if it is even on the radar anymore? The prices of pres has gone through the roof, and I after everytime that I gamble away more than 300g in the forge with nothing I contemplate quitting because I’m so upset (I do log out for the night). I’m a loyal customer, but this seems a bit ridiculous.

Lol i should have known this was you Captain Salty! At the end of the day guys its random, although different types of content are more likely to give you one. For example, if all you do is run dungeons all day, there is such a small chance you will get one as the type of loot you receive and #mobs killed is much lower than if your a hardcore WvW Zerg Buster like myself. To anyone that wants one that badly, your best bet is WvW. Most of my precursor drops have been from players in wvw and most of the precursors my friends and guild have received are also from WvW.

Hey now, I wouldn’t be a guardian if I wasn’t salty all the time. Guards fuel their inner power on their own salty tears. Isn’t that right Mr. “Mains War now”. ;-) But in all seriousness, you know that I used to be in WvW all the time as well. You’ve hit more time there, but I’ve spent at least a third of my play time in WvW. I play all game modes equally.

To everyone else, please read my other posts, I have indeed farmed my way to a precursor from the TP, and subsequently a legendary already. I’m just critcizing the fact that that is the only guaranteed way to get a legendary. And the luck tables seem far too skewed to some accounts in my opinion…

First off, if you would read my post, I already have one legendary. I bought Dusk on the TP for 880g after having thrown 200g in the mystic forge to no avail. I wanted to go for bolt as well, but I can’t justify grinding the gold for the current price of zap (which will probably be at 2k by the time I can grind that much gold).

To everyone who says there is no problem, stop feeling entitled: Why do you feel the need to attack me? I think that my request for a guaranteed way to earn a precursor, that is not subject completely to the rise and fall of the TP prices is not unreasonable. I’ve done the journey once that way, and the grind for the gold was awful, and there was nothing legendary about it. The developers said back in 2012 that they didn’t anticipate the rise in the precursor market, and they don’t like that precursors cost 100g (the quote is out there somewhere if you care to find it). Well they have gotten up to near 2k gold, and they still haven’t fixed what they have admitted is a problem.

I have tried to fight the belief that RNG is implemented per account, but I now think that is highly likely of being correct. I started the game at the same time as another friend of mine, and for about the same time of gameplay, he has gotten 6 precursors as drops (none from forging, hasn’t even tried) and I have gotten zero. I also bought an account for my boyfriend, and his account constantly gets amazing drops (first black lion chest he opened had a full ticket). And I know another person who like me has played a lot, actually he has double my hours, and has never gotten a pre either. If the RNG is the same for everyone, that doesn’t make any sense. Being 1 or 2 drops off from someone who has played as long as me makes sense, but a difference of 6?!

So if you are just going to come on here to say grind for gold, stop being entitled, nothing is wrong, then please don’t bother commenting. If you want to offer constructive reasonsing as to why you believe the current state of obtaining a precursor is fair then feel free to comment. I don’t mind differing views, but just coming in to white knight and not really offer anything useful is just a waste of time to everyone who reads the thread.

with 3000 hours, if you spend all that time farming, at 10 gold per hour, you can make 30000 gold and bought your self 30 precursor.

That being said, if you spend 3000 hours farming, you’ll be very very bored with the game.

You can’t make 10g/hour continuously. Even if we were to grant that you could speed run dungeons that fast (I full zerk speed run with friends, and we still take 30 minutes for a path of arah which is 3.76g plus drops) you can only run the dungeon path once per day, and not all reward as much as Arah.

That aside I agree that I shouldn’t be spending my 180 hours of playtime (by your math, more like 360 hours) grinding for gold to get a precursor.

One of those thread again … oh well, I’ll bite anyway.
~2800 hours, played since betas, saved gold enough to buy my precursor, no drops so far.

Well, in all fairness, the reason that these keep popping up is that they aren’t addressed. They are ignored, and then a new one comes up because people still seek an answer to the problem. I just wish we could get some comment on this. I understand things slip deadlines. That’s not why people are upset. They are upset because the deadline slip didn’t happen with a “Sorry we didn’t get around to it yet, but it is coming in the next 3-6 months!” We got nothing.

And I did buy dusk for my twilight (after spending 200g in the forge for nada) but I’ve been working towards bolt, and I can’t force myself to grind out 1800g or however much zap costs now.

This game started with us with 4, them with 5. (I tried to screen grab before people left, but one person on each side left before screenshot). The end score was 501 them to 451 us. We almost beat them while down a man the entire time. Why after 2 years does this game still start a match if you don’t have 5 on both teams? I understand someone leaving in the middle is harder to fix, but not having full teams at start?!

We deserved the win. -.-

I finished the Fine Dining one just fine. There is a certain item that you need in order to trigger it. It should be on Dulfy.net. If you check there she tells you which steak you have to consume first in order to trigger the collection.

EDIT: http://dulfy.net/2014/09/08/gw2-items-collections-guide/#Fine_Dining_Collection

That link shows which steak you have to consume first in order to unlock the collection. IMO they should change it so that any steak eaten will unlock it, but for now just do it with that one first.
