I’m confused. Is this move/merge an admission that
Howler’sFarter’sWheezer’s shortage of legendary qualities IS, in fact, a bug? Or is it just a way of sweeping the topic under the rug where the general population won’t have to look at it?
Given the pitiful response so far I suspect the latter. Hope I’m wrong.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
I can’t find my bug thread on fixing Howler.. I guess that’s our answer folks
It’s still in this section of the forum. Someone from ANet took the trouble to move the “Howler Fix” thread from General Discussion in here too and merge it with your thread. And yet they still weren’t courteous enough to actually respond to the points made in either thread. Just unbelievable really.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
So … the Howler Fix thread that was in General Discussion has been merged with this one (presumably by someone from ANet) but still no-one from ANet has the courtesy to respond to any of the points made in this now merged thread.
And to think I received a forum infraction for something I posted in this thread earlier which was deemed to be mildly disrespectful. The irony just knocks me out.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
ANet – your silence on this topic is appalling. Just tell us whether you give a kitten about this or not. I’d like you to improve Howler for sure but right now I’d settle for an acknowledgement that you have bothered to read this post and have no plans to do anything. At least we’d all know where we stand.
This is no way to treat your customers.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Come on ANet – how hard can this be – just get it fixed. Your silence on this matter is incredibly frustrating / annoying / insulting. We put a lot of effort into getting this item and, for a legendary weapon, it is unnoticeable.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
ANet you really do have very poor customer relations. This issue, affecting an item that takes a huge amount of effort and/or cost to obtain, deserves a response from one of your team. You broke Howler, you should fix it.
On the assumption that there will be something in this forum that flags to you posts that mention you by name – Gaile Gray.
Please show some decent customer service for once and have the courtesy to respond to this thread.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
It’s a very poor show from ANet that not one of their employees can be bothered to reply to this thread. Howler is a pale shadow of what it once was and doesn’t really feel legendary any more. Come on ANet … either fix this or compensate us for giving us a half-baked legendary weapon. Or at least someone have the courtesy to acknowledge that there is a problem and let us know whether you have any intention of fixing it.

Hi,
Since the patch I have an issue in that every time I log-in I have to reset all the settings to my preference – rebind keys, change volume, hide bags etc. Then when I log in the next day they have all been lost again.
Anyone got any bright ideas?
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
When I try to launch the game today I just get the “Initializing……” screen and the game won’t go any further. Was fine on Sunday. Any ideas?
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Sounds great to me! Appetite well and truly whetted!
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Oh look – I was in fact correct! ;-)
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
OK – don’t have a hissy fit. Expansion / GW3 / something else. I don’t really care. In my view an expansion is most likely. I may be wrong. I may be right. Either way – I haven’t expressed anything as fact.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)

Sorry – can never resist the opportunity to use a Monty Python reference!
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
I doubt it’ll be an expansion pack. But a pack expansion is entirely possible like 4 more slots in your standard backpack !
Oh and a new 10 man raid where 9 players fight super hard bosses while one player plays as Traherne and steals all their glory and loot.
Excellent! :-)
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Some new content today would be a very cool thing for them to do – don’t think it will happen though.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Earnings forecasts suggest otherwise.

Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Seems likely that it will be an expansion and earnings forecasts that have been linked on here before suggest a spike in revenue that would indicate that the “expansion” will not be free.

Roll up, roll up – additional storage available in the Gem Store!
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Of course you could buy some more inventory space in the Gem Store …. although I’m sure that ANet wouldn’t deliberately push you in that direction …..

I’ve just found out about this and this is really awful news. I was an officer of the LOF guild which Eris led on GW1 and GW2 and whilst I’d never met him we conversed many times in game and shared some great GW memories. Eris was a fantastic bloke – always there to help and kind to a fault. My navigational skills, or lack of them, were a LOF joke but Eris never lost patience.
Due to dwindling numbers in LOF we hadn’t chatted recently but it was always comforting to see that he was logged in on GW2. I’ll miss him. This is a huge shock.
Maybe we will meet someday beyond The Mists.
Farewell old friend – may your lock picks never break.

Factions and Nightfall kept me occupied for far longer than that.
History proves you wrong.
Guild Wars 1 as a whole kept me occuped 1/10th of the time Guild Wars 2 has, so far. Does history prove you wrong, too?
I’m not saying an expansion would be bad, but why would it be good? Will the devs magically pull dev-output out of a hat they didn’t have beforehand?
If they can release 1 zone every X months, A skills every B weeks, etc, does it matter whether they package that twice a year or twice a month? Not really now, does it?
No – history proves that the assertion of the OP – that an expansion would please no-one- is wrong.
And the problem with your last sentence is that in the ANet world X and B tend to infinity whilst A tends to zero.

Can we please be allowed to have forum avatar pics next to our usernames like every other forum out there?
It would make it easing when quickly scrolling down a long list of posts when you’re trying to find posts made by a particular player, for example. All you see is red text. If we had avatars you could easily and quickly spot your friend or someone you like based on an image. Lots of other MMO forums do this. I don’t understand why ArenaNet is so restrictive.
It would also give us a sense of individuality and expression. Of course avatars would be subject to the rules against anything obscene or offensive.
ctrl + f
Avatars require extra moderation and would probably effect forum load times slightly.
They could give us a rather large set of pre-made avatars to choose from. Or even better our in-game avatars
I don’t know about in-game avatars, but I would settle for premade avatars created by Anet that are based on logos and/or artwork of the GW franchise. At least this way we could select from at least a few images to be displayed with our names without anyone worrying about having to report nasty pics some people think are funny. To be honest the forums are rather bland. Not much imagery or artwork when looking at threads. All I see is black and white and read all over (seriously I didn’t get that joke until I was 30).
I have a feeling that if avatars were possible with this forum software, we’d have them.
Just sayin’.
You could say the same thing about the search function :P
LoL so true! We do have a search function but it doesn’t work worth a [redacted]. xD
Avatars not needed – let’s get our kitten priorities right!!!
You could say the same thing about the new endless tonics and minis from the Silverwastes. Nobody needs them but Anet made them when they could have given us more content instead. But some of us find them fun, and I believe some of us would find avatars on the forums fun. And all of us would enjoy a working search feature, with advanced options to search by thread title, keywords, searching in specific subforums, search by player name, etc. Just my 2 copper anyway.
You could. And I would agree.

-1 here for Living Story. It just doesn’t satisfy in the same way that Factions or Nightfall did for GW1.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
I feel like I should be annoyed by having yet another big break in the story, and I suppose I am. But I’m not sure how much I care anymore.
Rehashed Halloween and Wintersday content holds little interest for me. The story will resume whenever it does, all 2 hours of it. And I’ll be there to play it. But GW2 has already fallen to secondary-game status for me, and this sort of “planning” only further reminds me why.
They produce such little content, and even when they are actually putting anything out, they only do it for a few little patches, and then stop again for a long time. This “bi-weekly” Living Story could have been up to 26 “expansion-like” updates in a year. But obviously that would be too much to hope for. Fair enough. So how about 12? Nope, that’s also too much to hope for. Apparently even 8 is pushing it. And the ones we do get are pretty tiny.
So much time is passing with so little expansion-like content to show for it. It’s getting hard to take any of this very seriously. The game, the story, the company, whatever. It all just seems so un-focused and amateur. I don’t like “being negative”, I really don’t. I liked being a fanboy better, but those days feel so far gone by now. I hope they have some seriously amazing stuff in store for 2015, because so far it seems like disappointment after disappointment.
FYI, I have no issue with people taking time off for the holidays. By all means you should get to chill out for a while. I’m fortunate enough this year to get to take a whole week off myself. My issue is what has (hasn’t) been delivered all year prior, and the year before that, with no indication of that changing in the future.
This.
I’m becoming more and more disillusioned by GW2. The “fortnightly” content is not substantial enough.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
I totally agree with the OP. The new categories are less useful in my opinion and will make it harder to find things. There was plenty of constructive feedback given in a previous thread, hardly any of which seems to have been taken on board, and the response from ANet to the OP is pretty patronising. “We note that you don’t like the new forum now but we are sure you are mistaken and will realise the error of your ways in due course”.
As Ashen says “Eliminating or reducing sub-categorization almost never produces a more efficient search”. Why isn’t that patently obvious to ANet?
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
There is an option to turn it off .. in the … erm … Options.

Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
An open letter from a long-time GW supporter.
This thread is just bizarre and a perfect illustration of why GW2 is losing it’s appeal for me.
1) I can’t see any benefit in reorganising the forums in this way
2) So many people have come up with suggestions to improve the way the forums are proposed to be reorganised that you have to wonder whether any real thought went into this at all
3) The current forum software appears inadequate (and therefore presumably has been for 2 years) but new software is only just being “examined”
It seems to me that you tinker with things that don’t need changing, without any clarity of thought and whilst avoiding the obvious elephants in the room with vague comments of “we’re looking at this”.
I loved GW1 and have a lot of time invested in GW2. I suppose I love GW2 as well but it could be so much better and that is what disappoints me. The refusal to answer important and straight-forward questions about the road-map for the game is, quite frankly, insulting to those that have supported GW in both guises for many years.
I am one of those players that longs for an expansion – I miss the ability to explore large areas of the game world and am frustrated by the “bite-size” releases that fail to satisfy – especially the last two which were painfully short. Confirmation / or otherwise that an expansion is being worked on would soothe the frustrations of myself and many players that I know. I don’t purport to be speaking for the majority as clearly I can’t but based upon a reasonable sample size there must be many players that feel like I do.
Something needs to change if I am to continue to play, enjoy and support this game with the enthusiasm that I have done so far.
Please – improve the way you engage us in the development of the game – and don’t waste time re-organising flawed forum software in a way which, in my view, will reduce the focus on some very valid points of view about specific areas of the game.

Thanks for the advice folks … food for thought!

Nice work! :-)
I think it’s fair to say that I am starting from a much much lower base than you in terms of gold. :-)
I have used what gold I earnt in game so far to kit out my 8 level 80 characters – usually with OK stuff but I always saw a legendary weapon as unattainable (which in reality it probably will be!) and so bought cheaper stuff rather than saving towards that goal. I have tended to focus on getting achievements rather than getting rich anyway I suppose so far.
I’m not sure I’ll ever reach the goal but it’s something to work towards whilst waiting for new content.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Added my IGN in case any other like minded individuals fancy teaming up! :-)
Might pass the time a bit quicker.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
I hear what you’re saying … but I’m going to have to start sometime! :-)
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Yeah – I knew the precursor would be the sticking point! I guess I could salvage / sell the rares rather than chucking them in the forge but the optimist in me still hopes that I’ll push the button and a precursor will drop out.
Guess I should have started this process a bit earlier but I’ve been so embroiled in doing content (have over 7,000 AP) that I didn’t really have the focus. I do have a few of the materials that I will need as a result of that but sounds like buying the precursor might be the wise option. Just hope that GW3 doesn’t beat me to it!!
Thanks for the advice.

(edited by enlightened.5396)
Been playing since the start of GW2 (and GW1 for that matter) and have decided to work slowly towards a legendary (Kudzu). Approach will be to farm materials, do boss events and throw rare drops into the forge. I realise that I might well be very old by the time that this approach works (if it ever does) but are there any things that I should definitely be doing to improve my chances or reduce the time taken.
I’m not looking for a silver bullet and I don’t have the time to invest in game to do any intensive dungeon running or TP flipping but I don’t want to miss out on something that would make the process a bit quicker.
Thanks.

Despicable behaviour. Unlikely to be reported. You are undoubtedly being a jerk and your guildie should be ashamed of him/herself.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
I find myself logging in less and less these days … for a single reason really – lack of new PVE content. Played both GW1 and GW2 since launch and I’m quite sad to be posting this. The only thing I really want is new areas to explore (with the associated new quests and enemies) and they are just coming too slowly. I’m a pretty casual player so it isn’t like I blitz through things as soon as they are released.
Just posting this to add another call for an expansion if anyone cares. As this seems unlikely I’ll probably just drift away from this game to something else and check back every now and again. I think GW2 has the potential for great longevity but that potential is being thrown down the toilet.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Really underwhelmed by this. Quite sad really. GW2 has so much potential.
Stop tinkering around the edges and give me some substantial new content and places to explore. As a veteran player I need more than changes to the wardrobe.
I know there are a few “features” yet to be announced this week but I don’t hold out much hope. Please prove me wrong. I really do want to carry on playing but I’m so bored with GW2 at the moment.
Vanishing Legacy (VALE)
Hi,
Would like to join your guild if possible – currently in a guild of old friends from GW1 and would like to stay in that guild also but people have drifted away and population is sparse. Have a lvl 80 of each class and play primarily PVE but looking to diversify to maintain interest.
If that’s OK ping me a message! :-)

Also an issue with players purposefully dragging menders towards the blue knight to have it heal mid-fight. Again a player admitted he was doing this in map chat.
