They have no idea how to balance this game in my opinion.

Explain how we should be able to counter constant fear spams, every condition in the game, and using our CDs defensively and offensively.

Smite has had plenty of escapes added.Gods like Thor.Fenrir, Apollo are well known for it… not to mention teleport scrolls, combat blink and shielded Recall. Oh and leaps/teleports in Smite letting you go through walls can make GW2 mobility look tame at times.

Honestly people don’t move so fast that skill shots are a real issue landing (flight time is what makes that an issue). Especially with the size of some aoe fields (traited marks).
Personally I think some profs have more swiftness access than their “role” would dictate but it’s pretty meager. The only real issue in mobility is the distribution of rushes,leaps, and teleports.

Take cleric based gear, healing runes, and signet of malice with some heal food. You’ll heal over 200 each hit. Just spam 3 on 3 enemies or shoot 5 then auto to win. /lazymode. 1 PW on 3 enemies is about 4.5k health, do it twice. Don’t die. If you find someone to give you protection just rambo through everything, srs.

Agreed. Weapon skills first, then utils then traits.

This just doesn’t work, period. They also spread the traits for Pistols through crit tree and the … TRICKERY TREE? Well if you’re specing into crit traits, I can’t see a need for going at least 20 into trickery as to make it “20%” more effective. And that’s another thing … did it really take them nearly a year to realize that the initial 7% chance to have a bullet ricochet to another target wasn’t worth squat? So they buff it to what, 10 then 20% chance? Oh still no one is using it?

Just because a trait says Pistols in it does not mean you have to take both tbh. Ricochet seems to be indicating a bit of a playstyle tweak where you can do some side damage to other players/creatures. Tbh I think the trait shouldn’t exist but having traits in different lines is fine.

I am under the impression that, in ANet’s mind, the real problem is that thief has ANY viable ranged weapons. They did just smack short bow’s ranged damage again after all.

Merciful Ambush is fairly cool and Panic strike change is strong.
S/P is getting about one more slash in, which certainly helps, but the change to Inf strike hurts it simultaneously.
Imo Signet of Malice is underwhelming would try some different amulets but so far just not feeling it.

If I recall 30 trickery gave you 35s steal instead of 32 which is the same formula.
So there isn’t a prepatch difference in how its calculated.

It’s literally the exact same traits taken before they nerfed haste except you have practiced tolerance for some ungodly reason and should swap that out it’s giving you nothing of value.

Hopefully you’re right. But any trait that rewards you for not using your class mechanic seems to fly in the face of that very mechanic, does it not?

Hmm these traits don’t invalidate use of your burst.
Adrenaline as a whole is your mechanic, not just the burst skill. They make you get more powerful over time (as you accumulate adrenaline) and can continue heavier pressure until you’re ready to burst.

Just roll a Mesmer. Illusionary Unload does the same damage as Unload while traited and applies bleeding on crit. All retal is directed to it.

Or you could try bountiful theft or the mystical weapon swap but whatever, forget playing around things.
Everyone knows P/P is bad but if you insist on running it, might as well adapt to your situations.

I still don’t get why you don’t think someone would just dodgeroll the point

Ambush trap triggers regardless of whether they dodge or not. At best a dodge cancels 1 of his utils.
So post-patch the only traps that can really be stopped from activating are needle and tripwire. Imo he can get away with Ambush or possible get away with trip (but I feel of all traps it has the weakest synergy with S/P and the stability S/P has to contend with) but ambush+ trip will be iffy.

My thief doesn’t die in PvE. Whether I’m running S/D + SB or S/P + SB.
Generally unless you buffer yourself with some tough/vit (investing in Shadow arts and Acrobatics also helps) you’re based a lot on just not getting hit, and you have the tools for that.
I think the general game is fine for a new thief /P beats the majority of the game. It’s more the community that is hostile that doesn’t value you significantly in PvE and hates you in pvp. You can certainly handle anything that comes at you.

If anything the first couple levels are a bit hard because you’re lacking options.

Doc Howler takes out a lot of people, I remember her giving me some issue back at launch.
Try throwing in a pistol offhand and using black powder on her, the field will blind her.

Actually in hind sight you’re not in that bad a place. Headshot/BP off the bat stops them from preventing you setting up another Shadow trap.
You’re going to be forced off point if a RAO ranger pops in.

Triple trap off the bat? Well fortunately Ambush triggers whether they dodge on it or not so there is no issue with that. That and Soldier S/P can definitely duel.
I like how it sounds, but tripwire feels like the odd-man. That and an ele or engi can nuke the ambush thief before it can do much.

Fortunately if I get it right you can place Shadow center, place Ambush off center, and if you see your Ambush thief pop up, Destroy shadow to warp and you’ll be there regardless and can force movement till they hit the tripwire. If leaked is correct though you’re going to be in a shoddy situation if you have to force the warp. You’d have to replant the trap immediately so you have a stunbreaker.

Feels like that build is in a very delicate spot if it works imo. Last time I tried to run triple traps I found Ambush getting nuked out of play frequently. Would also be harder with no stun break on inf strike.

So sleight of hand really is 20% cd reduction, sweet.
Sleight of hand can to an extent replace Shadow refuge on your bar. May consider
Merciful, Bountiful/thrill, Sleight of hand. Drop Refuge and take something more fun.

that 100% uptime is based on boon duration chained with other skills the majority of the time. If you pay attention to their skills you Strip after a reset. Bountiful is a fairly strong trait and well trickery scales better with P/P then it does S/P

Trickery scales better with P/P? Now that is new to me.

P/P gets all of the benefit of Trickery so it gets more out of investing in trickery. S/P is just a better set but doesn’t change im losing ~300 condi dmg since i don’t deal any.

You’re comparing abilities with long cooldowns to stealth, which can be used indefinitely as long as you don’t hit anyone.

Purposefully, if players want to roll around about “No counters” there are multiple things with no counters in this game, you play around them. That’s just the reality. Indefinite stealth? You’re talking about onesweapon set. Or is Sword/Pistol, Pistol/Pistol, Shortbow stealthing dropping so much of this “broken” stealth.
What indefinite Stealth S/D, or D/D’s have you been playing that can be used as long as you don’t hit anyone.

D/P itself gets prevented by interrupting the hs.

Stun break change isn’t a direct hit to mobility but defense since actual A-B movement itself is not actually changed like it was with the range limitation.. Those notes indicate an increase to general mobility via traits/utilities/steal.

What is the counter to Obsidian Flesh other then waiting for it to end. There isn’t one.
Lets be real tea not everything needs a specific counter.
Stealth is supposed to be kept in check by its duration and the possibility of still incurring damage. As well as tripe.
“You counter dmg immunity with conditions”. No you go around physical damage immunity with conditions, you don’t strip, it. Same way you don’t strip stealth you go around it with attacks that don’t require a target or using some patience.

I would withhold* until things are put in practice considering there is seemingly balance shifts within other professions that make them more vulnerable to begin with. That and torments practical value is up in the air when of the three applicants, Mes and Thief don’t have a precedent in conditions and may likely not be running it anyways.
On top of the adjustments made to War.
While nothing sticks out, might as well see how things run as a whole.

Shadow return has always been a stun breaker don’t know what you are talking about willis. Shadow return flops however if you use it while launched because stun breaking when in the air doesn’t work.

Did you do any math on the heal rate for using SoM with daggers?

While a team ranking obviously makes a lot of sense given other games/sports. This is very presumptuous of me, but it seems like many players rather be individually ranked. If that’s what most want then I guess it makes sense to prioritize individual ranks + teams fall apart so easily it’s probably easier to do it like this.

I agree with your 2, I believe anet agrees with it and many players but they’re working on other things (which I don’t disagree with).

I think 3 is certainly valid. Seeing the other team should take place after you’re locked in.
