I’d suggest “Do you like x, or do you like y” and the answers being “I prefer x” “I prefer y” “I like both”.
The last question is poorly worded, it’s a “do you like x, or do you like y” question with the answer “yes” and “no”.
What’s the difference between recalling items lost in the account bank and from the character inventory/wallet?
I like how you guys are asking the game to be changed because you have no self control.
I have self control, but I prefer being organized and keeping spending money and saving money separate. It keeps me from feeling like I can’t spend anything without having to keep checking if i’m spending too much in one day.
My previous system was to leave 10g in the wallet daily and deposit the rest. It built up quickly and with no pain or thought I had what I needed saved up without feeling I couldn’t buy anything. It’s the same system I use IRL and feels unnatural not to use in game.
Also we used to be able to deposit coin in the account bound bank as well and I don’t see how it would be more difficult for anet to refund in the case of hacking than the wallet, but I don’t know about the technical aspects of that stuff.
what if a failed lord push allowed you to repair the inner gate?
Use a personal guild for bank and gold storage.
This. It’s not difficult to make a personal guild, and it’s very easy to make/buy enough influence to get a bank. I was putting gold away in mine while saving up for precursors.
I would only support the idea of putting gold into personal banks if the gold that was on any character was still account-wide as it is now, instead of reverting it back to the old system, and even then I’d still prefer to “hide” my gold (from myself) in my personal guild bank.
“Since March there’s now a cap on how much gold you can take out of a personal guild bank, which I understand for stopping gold trading etc. But it means if I want to be able to use the gold I’ve saved I either have to withdraw it over the span of a couple weeks, or keep it all in my wallet which I find uncomfortable and unsatisfying.”
Literally the first post is about why using a personal guild bank has screwed me because of the withdrawal limit.
To those who suggested making a listing on the TP, i’ll consider it. You don’t lose gold to fees?
I just want the current mountain man beard to actually match hair texture/color… It always seems low res and off compared to the hair.
More horn/tattoo/pattern options would be great too but i’m not holding my breath.
i use whatever I feel like in a dungeon, usually guard/ele or necro (unless carrying friends/guildies, when I play what can carry hardest for that path).
My listing is “all 80s expd”. 9/10 of my dungeon runs are slick, stress free, and mellow. No ping required, any class welcome. If someone is obviously kitten y they usually end up leaving or getting kicked after they mess up a few times. No drama, new 5th added instantly, move on.
I’ve run with hardcore zerk meta groups and they more consistently instagib the bosses, but waiting on the lfg to fill up with exactly who is wanted etc, kitten waving and tension and the inevitable kicks/quits often evens out the time investment.
#relaxedlife
I want to see more rugged/ugly FEMALE faces too! More variety! Less “faces” that are just makeup variations!
This thread needs to be retitled though- “No more pretty boys & skinnier cats pls”
(you know there are skinny charr right?)
Never played WoW, can you jump/climb literally everything you can see? Are there jumping puzzles and hidden nooks/rewards for playing like a goat on a mission to break the map?
I’ve always thought the terrain of gw2 is amazing, the free roaming and lack of invisible walls is a huge plus. I played TERA for about 10 minutes recently, walked into four invisible walls and uninstalled it.Just imagine walking from Frostgorge Sound to Cursed Shore without a loading screen.
You’ll still be blocked by mountains too high, but you’ll have the freedom to travel through different routes to another zone. This isn’t possible with GW2, since the only way out is through a portal or waypoint.
Shadow of the Colossus was my favorite game for this type of seamless exploration but if it puts serious problems on the servers/engines w/e then it’s a luxury i’m happy without. Even when i was very immersed in the game world the loading screens didn’t interrupt me at all. If anything it gave me a sense of completion knowing that I had fully explored one region and was moving to the next, and a sense of boundary knowing that if I was too low level I wasn’t accidentally wandering into a place too dangerous for me.
I’m no longer immersed but it has more to do with the junk story and bad alt experience due to new trait system.
Look at it this way, if you are saving gold in your guild bank to keep yourself from making a spur of the moment or accidental purchase because you can’t control your spending, then the withdrawal limit is even doing you a bigger favor. It will make you think about it for a week or so.
And by then the precursor/whatever I was saving for has gone up another 100-200g in price… and more waiting after months of saving and getting extremely hype for the final payoff, shut down completely.
I can control my spending but it’s easier and more fun for me to have it split up, it makes it more clear what is my saving money and what is my play/use freely money.

When I save up for a big in game purchase I like to squirrel my gold away a bit at a time, it builds up and I dont accidentally (or “accidentally”) use it for smaller daily costs. I like the feeling of depositing a bit, watching it become a lot, and then taking it all out at once to make my big shiny purchase.

In the past we could put our money in our own bank (the account bound one). I would really love this option again.
Well if you don’t go repair you’ll be naked eventually and that makes things a little more difficult. Still makes a difference.
Last I checked broken armor no longer appears as missing in game. Is that fixed or working as intended?
Red panda was fixed? Wanted to get one for my friend but not interested if it’s still low quality.
I did the story together with my friends and we were all disturbed with how dark things had gone. It was clear a lot of build up and effort went into making this as dramatic and serious as possible, what with using themes like torture and tragic destiny. And then we all burst out laughing when my mini was just chilling in the foreground.
Another reason I can no longer take gw2 story seriously at all (and no desire to be invested in it after so much pointlessly cruel character death instead of development. Oh, another seemingly interesting character is killed three missions after they’re introduced? You don’t say…).
When the goth-hawk hairstyle came out I was excited and bought a hair kit for it, only to find out in game it looked kind of cruddy and pixellated. I filed a ticket with anet and told them the preview didnt match the in game appearance and they refunded me the hairkit. If anyone is really unhappy with the red panda i suggest taking it up with anet and seeing if you can get your gems back.
I was always surprised it’s possible to join the clearly winning team when the numbers are even, since for better balance one should always be put on the losing side to give it an advantage/handicap. Really any system of handicap (more experienced players being pushed to play with newbies) would be better than watching two or three earnest but clueless newbs getting rolled by the stubborn veterans who don’t want to party with them.
The two most hardcore players i’ve befriended have either stopped playing their main class (after 6k hours of constant dueling/experimentation with) or quit the game entirely because of the same thing. In their words, at a certain level of high skill play the game can’t keep up with the player. Combinations, animation cancels and other very precise inputs on the player’s part are unreliable because of the game’s responsiveness/lag/glitches/bugs etc. Obstructed messages on clearly open terrain, things simply not reacting when they should, and a host of other issues.
To me that’s discouraging to hear and has taught me that trying to play at esports level will only be a disappointment and a waste of time, and the most fun to be had in this game’s pvp is at a medium/hard casual level. What i’ve heard about the high level ranked scene enforces this since builds are stagnant (cele d/d, cele engi etc) and the most successful comps are playing builds that are boring to fight with and against.
I have 5k matches under my belt…
My main suggestion for improving Practice mode is blocking access to it from people with 5k match experience.
If the goal is to improve its role as “place where newbies can learn the basics of PvP”, it doesn’t matter what the rewards are as long as you let Legendary Champions come in and farm said newbies.
Seems like if only “noobs” enter and no veterans are there to help or force learning then no one will learn or rather learning would be a snails pace.
I still have a lot to learn outside of my main class/build and I use hotjoin as a way to warm up before unranked/ranked matches since I usually play like kitten my first few fights of the day. Having a place to try new things, experimental (and sometimes outright stupid) builds and be allowed to kitten up with minimal consequence is important for everyone.
And since you don’t know me you have no reason to trust this but I always autobalance and do everything I can to make a comeback for the down and out team (often so well that it becomes the steamroll team and I get autobalanced back again… lol).
ps- in case that gets misread as kitten waving I openly admit i am only a little above average player even at my main. Hence why i continue to practice and also enjoy spectating players better than I am!
(edited by eyestrain.3056)
I made this topic not to earnestly bash rewards in hotjoin but to invite discussion of how there could be more incentive for players to join the losing team and try hard, rather than this overwhelming trend of waiting in spectate until a spot opens on the winning team (usually because someone on the outnumbered and outmatched team just gives up and leaves the match). Hotjoin is a terribly unfair mode for new players or people who are sincerely trying to learn their build/class because of the rarity of even semi-balanced matches. Consistently winning in hotjoin is extremely simple, but only if you know how and are willing to exploit the system and it has little to nothing to do with actually fighting.
Why remove rewards when they can just be equalized so you get the same thing win or lose? No one will “practice” if they are wasting their time in there. People could easily be “practicing” in ranked arena, wrecking the queue for everyone else.
I thought about this first but it seems it might make farmers even lazier and less inclined to try and win/turn matches around.
I don’t know what the best solution would be but there needs to be something done to make this match mode at all meaningful or useful for anyone other than gold farmers.
It might not be a perfect solution but if hotjoin is truly meant to be “practice mode” the amount of autobalance manipulation and players who sit in spectate until they can hop on a clearly steamrolling team makes the mode nearly impossible to have a good match in, and a terrible environment to learn how to play as a team.
I have 5k matches under my belt so I am very familiar with this mess of a game mode and how to get my wins. But it’s crap for learning anything other than taking advantage of a sloppy system.
My top suggestions are to remove rewards from hotjoin all together, so win or lose the incentive is not to farm but to play, and take on the challenge of joining the losing team for ones own improvement.
My second suggestion is to remove hotjoin from the overall win/loss ratio on the pvp menu screen, or separate it out so if some people want a cleaner ratio they dont have to worry about practice matches.
Most numbered custom arenas don’t even have courtyard in their rotation. Honestly it’s an interesting map imo, it rewards environmental awareness more than conquest mode since it’s not all about standing on one point.
If you are really struggling with the map try playing a different class or build that takes advantage of the free for all kill scoring rather than one that is made for conquest.
I’m beginning to think win-loss ratio of total matches played may contribute to people constantly leaving hotjoin matches when their team isn’t winning, so they can boast a better win/loss ratio of all played matches. It’s not any leaderboard score but I think excluding hotjoin from that stat in the pvp menu might have some effect on people constantly taking their ball and going home when they aren’t winning. I think everyone would benefit from more consistent practice matches if fewer people left mid match.
The lack of communication leads to confusion and distrust since we’re being left out of what’s going on.
Flesh Wurm is very difficult to place with any effectiveness now.
Thanks so much for the response Josh.
After the patch when I spectate a player the camera automatically resets behind the character even with free camera enabled. Was it always like this? Is there some setting I have wrong?
I don’t see stability show up after the immune message if that’s what it is.
There’s literally nothing else that would cause a warrior to be immune to fear. You either didn’t watch carefully and didn’t check stab or used Doom too early into Berserker stance. Next time maybe record it, so you can see what happened.
Yeah i was getting this even before the stability change and watching like a hawk for stability boon and zerker stance. I’ve been playing necro for months so those are like neon signs to me and I wouldnt be so confused if they were anywhere near my fear cast. It seems last stand is most likely culprit right now but I dont understand why i’m not seeing a stab buff show up after the immunity.
some kind of anything in hotm would help me miss way fewer queues, my ADHD cant stand being trapped in lobby _
I don’t see stability show up after the immune message if that’s what it is.
The same ((numbers)) bug is happening ironically enough with the bug report system in game so it’s definitely got to be a mistake and not an intended new feature.
this is honestly creepy as hell after a while, i feel like the ghosts of the 50,000 i’ve killed in wvw are haunting me
I’ve had this happen a few times, sometimes the entire opposing team gets d/ced as well (and sometimes a few people on both sides never come back).
It’s not rampage (which also has a stability buff, when removed cc works on it) or last stand since no stability shows up after i use the fear.
Does shrug it off cause them to be immune to condition, or does it quickly remove after application?
As a necro I now have 0 ways to stomp my kill or res an ally when 5-10 people are immediately knocking off my paltry 3 cc blocks. Sure more will tick later but it’s useless if i’ve been interrupted mid action.
We almost always fight 3-5 v 5-10 or more and there is no such thing as stomping without being focused hard. With no invuln or reliable stability i have no way ensure i rally my teammates.
glad to see once again blobspam > small skilled group.
This keeps happening- I hit a warrior with Doom and see a message pop up immune. I am carefully watching that their zerk stance is over (usually only fear a second or two after its on cd) and no stability. What is causing them to be immune?
Really hoping this is a bug, it makes absolutely no sense from a design standpoint otherwise.
The green is hard to see for people with some colorblindness or vision impairment. It’s an accessibility issue.
Have you tried using the in game bug report lately?
looool
“You are not in a guild” error though I am in and repping guilds. Time to finally rename the game Dragon Wars.
Regarding people being trained to ignore full dead- I would think a change like this would help fight that, as people would no longer want to lay around full dead unless a res was coming immediately, would wp faster, and there would be fewer full dead laying around. And at a VW event for instance if you saw someone full dead you’d know it only happened recently and they haven’t been afk there for 5min already.
It’s not flawless but it is an idea worth considering since I think “tap and afk” is an issue caused by the current system. There are already plenty of people saying “full dead wp and run back” at every event but this isn’t solving the bad behavior.
Thanks for the info… this still seems oddly inconvenient and counter-intuitive.
But according to this topic, and suggestions of auto/forced WP returns, there’s no distinction between players who were unlucky dodging or players who just sit there to wait it out. Fully dead is fully dead, and anyone laying on the ground needs to be moved . . . sometimes denied a reward . . . because they died.
It irks me, slightly, because I often enough die due to bad luck (Silverwastes KD/KB/AoE spam during fort defenses) or because I try to get someone sitting in one of Teq’s poison puddles up before they die, and I wind up down instead. Punishing me for that feels . . . wrong.
Even a 1 minute wp timer would not punish you for that unless you decided to go make a sandwich after dying, or if you were totally alone anyway. For normal exploration I wouldn’t want this kind of timer because sometimes a sandwich break is nice, or it takes a while for someone else to come along. But during vinewrath, tequatl or another boss event which requires coordination and not a bunch of people standing around afk the timer might help penalize/discourage people from showing up, tagging, and then abandoning the game until they get their reward via everyone else’s efforts. If they risk returning to a completely different instance with no reward it would be a pretty strong motivator to keep actively playing during the event.
ps- it sounds to me that your problem with this suggestion Tobias is that you’re imagining it in place for all pve events when I read it as being only for major boss fights.
(edited by eyestrain.3056)
I would like to see forced wp after 1 min of not being rezzed at cost with an addendum. If you are forced to wp you are shunted to another shard and lose credit for participating in the event. This would solve the tag and afk mentality of a lot of these event farmers who leech off the population actually trying to complete it.
This seems fair to me, 1 minute plus however long it took your character to go down is plenty of time to react (by asking for help or wping) unless you are flat out afk.
How about asking for a report option for leeching?
There are already way too many reports to sift through for serious offenses. People being lazy or unaware of the problem they’re causing isn’t worth the time to review imo.
I’ve gotten this three times in two days after the last patch.
who the kitten thought 100 interrupts in a buggy and laggy temporary game was a good idea o_o
