I have appropriate rank/permissions to activate built upgrades and plenty of empty bag slots but the “activate” button next to our guild cats is grayed out for me and a fellow officer of appropriate rank.
It’s usually about 10 seconds of outnumbered before the autobalance starts and another 20s before it actually happens. 30s is a long time in a short game, especially if the unbalance is more than 2 players. Could it be made to go faster? if not, why?
Menus especially should focus function over aesthetic, if there will be symbols there should also be clearly labeled numbers to prevent difference of interpretation about which is 1 2 3 etc. Which… is already in place now.
IMO this is a case of fixing something that isn’t broke. I’d rather see graphic redesign work on the hero accordion menu since its inelegant and inconvenient.
The projectile destroying arrow was easily the most interesting addition. I’m still pretty thrown off by guardian being a ranger though. I don’t get why.

In the dragonhunter stream today (linked above at the relevant time) it was mentioned at the very end that the “vision of the future” is to replace the roman numerals labeling traits with unique symbols. This immediately strikes me as terribly inconvenient and inefficient, especially when it comes to sharing builds. I regularly share build info in the following format:
6 2 0 0 6
II X XII, III, IV V XI
These are just made up but you get the idea. See how compact that is? It’s an easy to type and reference guide that takes almost no letters to share.
Changing the trait labels into images would require people to type out the name of the trait, or some abbreviation of it and then to go hunting and hovering the mouse over every symbol to find the corresponding trait.
I know this is just a concept mentioned off the cuff but I really hope you guys don’t pursue this seriously!
has anyone else noticed the order of posts in this thread has gone absolutely wacky?
I’ve encountered a single turret engi. The thumper died in seconds. I know I should be concerned with balance and fairness to engis but it just felt way too good.
The turret engi logged after a few fights. Guess they didn’t know about the nerf.
:")
I have 241% and would not recommend ever spending gold to push your account mf higher. You’ll get it whether you want it or not if you salvage gear regularly for mats and eventually hit the 300% cap, then have nothing to do with the luck. I haven’t noticed significantly better drops now than I did way back when mf wasnt even account bound and they cap was more like 100-200% with boosts.
One of the new charr faces is a close match to Tybalt.
(sorry i didnt remember his details so my colors/proportions arent right)
Anet can’t be ignorant to all of this after all this time and having such clear feedback from players. At this point it seems like they have chosen to stubbornly ignore.

Still hoping for some help on this. It happens every day.
Abs are nice but it’s too flamboyant and covers everything else like a wetsuit so it’s not even really appealing as a skin-bearing male outfit.
this thread makes me laugh, but the only absolute 100% immediate signs of failure are
- when someone comes home at start with you to help cap (but if you leave, they follow you without capping????)
and
- when your comp has three mesmers (in conquest mode anyway)
everything else, there’s always a chance.
I sincerely thought swapping classes to even out my team comp was encouraged and better help to my team than sitting on a class we already have three of. I thought anet would encourage players to master as many classes as possible (if only to get players spending more time on their game) instead of only knowing and playing one class.
Suggesting that one class/build can overcome any challenge in any situation is ignorance of the game mechanics, so it makes sense to me that someone who can play a variety of classes and builds should have an advantage over someone who only knows one. On the other hand if someone sees my class and tries to hardcounter me, but I outskill them, that is penalty enough for them.
My two cents.
I always assumed asura have more in common with bats (large ears, dwelling underground, three toes, sharp teeth). Their teeth and some of their eyes closer resemble fish though.
This is a really on-point thread with tons of important and true info (at least the first few pages I read, and what I skimmed after). Is the only red tag post in it really just to say “sorry we closed it”?
I had this happen within the last three days. Enemy thief directly did damage to me from stealth but wasn’t revealed.

I need drop target key badly!! Even when i spam click away from target it often doesnt drop right away, or worse I accidentally click some random mob or another target. i’ve killed myself more times with a bad leap because I cant drop target than I should have. As previously mentioned esc does too many things and is also hard for me to reach on my keyboard.
Drop target keybind please!
i’ve put in about 15-16 hours in dry top and silverwastes (alternating every hour or two to get around DR) and havent’ gotten one.
ah dang. Thanks
The wiki lists Apostate as an available prefix for gear stats (condi main, toughness, healing power). But there doesn’t seem to be any way to get any gear with this stat.
???
^ the son of svanir hate and distrust women because their founder was killed by Jora.
ps also they think women are weak and i’m glad the game treats them like poopy heads
you got me all excited and then disappointed since it’s still not much… but a welcome addition.
Is this item useful for anything? With the extensive waypoints in this game I can’t even imagine any reason for this item to exist.
I’d like this option too. I actually played one of my charr like this because it was the only way to see his nice fur pattern.
(and female characters have a bra/some kind of underwear so I don’t think it would be that controversial)
I want the personal bank to store coin again as well. https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Suggestion-storing-gold-in-the-bank-again/first#content
that’s pretty comical.
Why did they change the function? That absorb/block/reflect would finally see its true glory in the current age of pewpew spam. Imo it was a great skill before, just horribly described in the tooltip.
Every new character i’ve rolled i’ve had a moment of decision. To level up in pve, or just use tomes?
Before trait change and npe, i always leveled in pve. Now i blast through tomes because holy kitten kitten that noise. The first 30 levels might as well not even exist with such a stripped down character.Inversely, I find the 20-30 stretch somewhat tolerable, since there’s still skill points and such to invest in. (Birthday scroll 20s for the win, though, because agreed, kitten that noise.)
But after 30, after getting that first trait point, I realize how utterly braindead the trait hunt design was. Case in point, I was going to prod a guildie into some combo trait-hunt/RP time, for giggles. I looked at the list and had the following thoughts:
“100% Blazeridge? F that.”
“Are half of these in WvW? We’re not even on the same server.”
“That trait almost looks reasonable. I wonder if he needs it. Oh wait, it’s in a zone 10 levels too high for him.”
“Maybe I’ll just buy a few.”
“…10 silver a piece and skill points to tacitly support this [expletive]? No thanks.”
“Now I regret bringing it up. Time to apologize and log out.”After nearly 100 pages of We Hate This text, ANet, can we at least get a hint of the huge apology you’re coding for us? Please?
My friend got all excited to help me unlock traits on a character since I rarely level characters up anymore and her favorite thing is exploration. I was actually happy to have motivation to do something out of the ordinary until I realized three of them were level 70-80 personal story (no intention of doing on pvp/wvw character), one was 100% lornar pass completion, and the other, my personal favorite was this:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/The_Long_Way_Around
-After interacting with each data pad, a dialog menu opens, and you must select the first option. It’s extremely hard to do this while moving (the dialog window closes if you move away), and it’s extremely unlikely that you’ll avoid getting hit while standing still to use the menu. The risen hands are indestructible, but the user interface is the real killer.
-You have to actually press Leave after deactivating instead of just swimming away.
FUN
+1 esp if we can fight each other as moas

Been solo queuing for years and this is the first time my desire to do so has worn thin. Five to ten minute waits for a group that can’t do anything against a premade team wrecking them, so I end up 1v3 for 30-40 seconds with no support over and over again, even when i am paying attention to rotation.
Queue times haven’t improved, I got six 4v5s last night alone so that problem isnt fixed. The changes to pvp were promising at the start but the problems in long term are becoming a serious turn off to spvp.
fighting premades with a team of pugs is killing my desire to pvp.
flesh wound didnt seem to understand the issue is not that your friends need transfer funds, but that the server is at max capacity and you can’t transfer to a full server. I dont know an answer for you but SoS lowest wvw activity is late EU (around 2-3pm MST). Late at night in the US is the ocx timezone which is usually pretty well populated and NA prime is well populated as well (unfortunately this doesn’t show in our ppt ;p ).
When I encounter obviously very new players in hotjoin I tend to offer them advice/teach about mechanics and there are way too many of them who haven’t been properly introduced to anything about spvp mode. The opening tutorial about stomp/res/cap is just not enough. Things like how to join a team, see the score, spectate builds are never explained in game and the importance of cap vs kill is not very clear for new players.
I would love to see an actual practice mode for new people instead of just throwing them in the meat grinder of hotjoin.
When 9out10 games is lose to unbalanced matchups, then yes, I also cannot be bothered to stand there getting ganked repeatedly.
Every game, I try, if it’s a loss or unbalanced, I give up. I’m not there to be a free kill, I join because I stupidly think PvP is ‘balanced’ and find out the hard way it’s not and end up afk’ing bored because you cannot exit.
This is the problem, it shouldn’t be encouraged to go afk just because you feel it is “unbalanced” might as well not queue to be honest. I understand if it is 4v5 and you are missing one person.
Under your logic is it ok if I just look at the enemy team and after losing 1 team fight go afk because I deem it as a “loss” or their comp is apparently OP?
Hate this mentality.
Are you in pvp to fight and force your enemy to respect what you can do? Or just to get the pat on the butt for winning one match? If only to win please don’t queue at all.
I do agree with OP on one thing- people who hate pvp but crave dailies should not have to play pvp for their dailies. They dont want to be in pvp and I dont want them in hotjoin because they’re the types playing turret engi and having a real sour attitude about everything while i’m trying to learn a new class/build in earnest.
- have turrets scale with engi amulet
- have turrets self destruct at 1500-1700 range of engi
done
i reported a turret engi for this a few weeks ago, no one on my team ever saw the engi but they were able to cap a point. Only knew they were there because getting knocked around and damaged by turrets and bombs.
I know this sounds like an Obamacare type of idea/solution but….
If the intent is to remove “dailies & wins farmers” from a competitive format, why not just create a new format (pvp tab) ONLY for “dailies & wins farmers” with no difference in rewards. In that way, why would anyone interested in a farm pollute a hotjoin/solo/team venue by joining? Those “real” PvP venues would then VERY LIKELY become more “pristine” (although predictably less populated by a statistically significant amount)
Honestly starting to consider this option after meeting a few too many people like this, every day. They obviously don’t want to be in pvp and I don’t want them in pvp either.
First tournament – bad bad experience. Wrecked my server from the stress that came with trying to be #1 against terrible odds and insultingly petty rewards for the amount of time and effort investment required.
Second tournament- mediocre. Queues clogged with people farming achieves. mediocre rewards.
Third tournament – came and went instantly. How easily the rewards were handed out devalued any special quality they had from before. What was even the point.
That’s my feeling on wvw tournaments.
Considering the cost in ectos, dust and mystic coins (which shot up in price) it isnt great imo.
I have done some sw chest farming here and there but dont find it very good gold per hour since the rng items from the bags is kind of junk, and the farm itself gets old fast. I have obsidian shards not only from pve but also pvp reward tracks and who knows where else I keep getting them from. I have no desire for ascended mats (already have dozens of bricks, stars, etc). I’m just sitting on these things because they’re legendary mats and it seems wasteful to throw them away.
Mawdrey and the wintersday star have been excellent for using up my ascended mats. Some kind of toilet or trashcan for shards would be welcome too, even if it’s just giving me junk. Even better would be more recipes that use up the shards so my excess can be someone else’s boon. I have so much account bound kitten in this game i would love to give my friends who really want and need them (570 tomes of knowledge anyone?) but instead they’re just taking up bag space .
The rage on April 1st had nothing to do with being offended. Those were trolls…. The rage on the 1st was about the lack of choice to turn it off, and that is not an issue. Most people didn’t want to ruin it for people enjoying it, they just wanted the option to turn it off because it was stupid and annoying.
A few days before April1st, on March 24th, an airplane (Germanwings flight 9528) from Barcelona to Dusseldorf crashed in France because the co-pilot locked himself in the kittenpit (flight deck) and crashed the whole airplane to commit suicide. 150 people died. Not only in germany a lot of people were shocked by this incident.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germanwings_Flight_9525So, maybe you can understand, why some people were not happy but angry and shocked, when they saw, a few days after this tragic crash, groups of people playing airplane and jumping of the cliffs in GW2 to kill themselves as if they ridicule the victims.
I missed this before somehow and now I can see how people may have correlated the prank with that tragedy, and why it would be upsetting. The odds of it actually being related are probably nonexistent but I would love to hear something from Anet at least about the coincidence, some reassurance that it wasn’t intentional and an apology to those upset.
And before anyone kittens down my throat about being considerate to sensitive people; You have the right to say and act however you want, but the consequences of your actions can affect others in ways you may not want. Everyone has been through some bad stuff. Being humble and respecting others costs nothing to the person in power and means everything to someone who has been hurt.
Please please please, I have five stacks and keep getting more faster than I can get rid of them even while making legendaries!
OP & others suffering anxiety over this, its been mentioned a couple times but I think the best solution you will get (seeing as gaile’s official response is “nah”) is to set up a chat tab without whispers at all, and make it known to your friends and guildies that you aren’t taking whispers anymore. It sucks but I think it’s the best you’re gonna get to just use party/guild chat.
In your chat window there is a little arrow that drops down all types of messages you see, you can uncheck whispers to disable them.
Another reason I can no longer take gw2 story seriously at all (and no desire to be invested in it after so much pointlessly cruel character death instead of development. Oh, another seemingly interesting character is killed three missions after they’re introduced? You don’t say…).
Alright. That’s your opinion. So now that we all know how you really feel…
I did the story together with my friends and we were all disturbed with how dark things had gone. It was clear a lot of build up and effort went into making this as dramatic and serious as possible, what with using themes like torture and tragic destiny. And then we all burst out laughing when my mini was just chilling in the foreground.
You can just hide your minipet if it’s killing the moment for you. Don’t try to add that minis are a reason you can’t take the story seriously.
Minipets weren’t going to make or break that for you.
I like many other players did the story on the day of its release and no one knew about the mini thing at the time. Going in with no spoilers, I experienced the story exactly as the devs intended. And any chance of taking it seriously went out the window when my mini was front and center in the scene.
Could the gw2 story be engaging for me again? Sure, introduce some characters, build them up, and then dont immediately kill them. When the trope happens so often that it can be seen from a mile away it becomes cliche.
No, the minipet isnt to blame for my feelings about the story overall. But it was a nice cherry on top of how impossible it is to get into gw2’s living story, and if there was any chance of taking the final scene of season 2 seriously a goofy dancing mini pet center screen takes care of it imo.
