4K BS with ascended zerker and 30 crit strikes? My BS hits 6k average with half zerker and 0 crit strikes.
He’s probably hitting characters with full ascended defensive gear, it goes both ways.
One point is to make CnD useful for non-power/crit builds not just P/D also S/D would profit.
Who said P/D is non-power only?
Common sense did.
Common sense has be wrong before. Sneak Attack scales with both condition damage as well as power and you can increase power alongside condition damage (but not crits at the same time). Conditions hit harder then power by having a decent surplus in condition duration increase and cover conditions or inadequate cleansing on your target.

Who said P/D is non-power only? Stop suggesting changes on things you don’t know enough about.
It’s supposed to be bursty, remove the burst and you have to reshuffle a lot more then add 3 seconds of protection.
The wine work is just replace Direct3D calls for opengl calls and Windows calls to Linux calls.
I think Wine uses and needs windows libraries. You can not simply map DirectX <> OpenGL
the front face, on main screen..
Nice combination, I like how the light colors make it look more like a sketch then a 3D rendering.
All your clever knowledge fails to take into account a clever thief.
Stealth isn’t free, C&D costs half of their initiative and needs you in melee range, while BP&HS uses three quarters of their initiative. They don’t have an endless reservoir.
A good thief knows ….
You’re fighting ghosts and in your mind you’ve already made them invincible.
30/30/30/30/30 warriors are SO hard to counter!
Not for 50/50/50/50/50 thieves!
Like a play, your characters do and say things through chat and emotes.
Rapid Fire stacks 10 stacks of vulnerability, increasing the damage you and other will do on that target by 10%. That is considerable. It takes too long though. #5 shouldn’t require you to stand still, I don’t see why that is needed.
Yeah it’s silly that Long Range Shot exists. It’s obvious that the less the arrow travels the less energy had gone to waste.
Hmm well as far as the nature of a longbows arrow goes I will have to disagree.
You can disagree, but he has a good point, the longer an arrow travels the more energy it looses due to friction.
… ranger stands far, far away just shooting his bow, …
Well, it does more damage then.
Today I tried the Giant of Nageling with my ranger (pet on peace), but she stood so far away from him that he just regenerated
So pets – and mob AI – are root of most of the rangers problem.
So true, even when I hit them first, they’ll change attention to the pet eventually. In GW1 you could train your pets by becoming the punching bag and let your pet do the punishing.
… with an unconventional and somehow dirty tactics in mind.
I like that very much
But I like pets too.
I wish ranger could use hammer so we could bring back the RaO Thumper, HaO Thumper and other cool stuff back into gw2
Heh, The Revenge of the Bunny Thumpers.
Discussing forum rules is against the forum rules. Oh, wait ….
Anyway, since this site lacks a proper search function you can expect the same questions to pop up over and over again.
First of all, i didnt discuss forum rules, i merely stated them.
And you dont need a search function to post in the right forum in the first place.
Well, you referred to them, rather inappropriately I might add, with a reason, or your post would have to be considered as off-topic :p
There is nothing wrong with this forum for his question, as it could be made available through other means the the BLT, though he did ask about the gem-store.
Easy way with most weapons to tell if you’re hitting a stealthed player is to watch and see if your #1 switches to the next attack in the chain.
The icon is easier to see, but not all auto-attacks have a chain.
….But shouldn’t conditions be the sort of thing that forces players not to ball up all the time?
The Zerg has Herd Immunity
Can leave the reset as it is, just would be nice to be able to load the traits from a save.

You invest 30 points to get regen (which I heard the most hardcore PVP players don’t even do)
have you ever thought about why this is the case?
Because they take Venemous Aura? It’s a nice trait, Shadow’s Rejuvenation, especially when you do need to use that shadow refuge anyway, but the 1k HP in 10 seconds you’d see normally see aren’t build breaking or making, if Hidden Assassin was a 15 point major I’d settle for 20 points with Embrace and Cloaked.
…. and Meld in Shadows should be moved up to Grandmaster-tier.
Kewl, then it can swap with Hidden Assassin, I would very much like that one down one tier. You better be careful what you wish for.
Apparently it wasn’t so hard to make the hero-ai good enough to ban them from PvP in GW1.
What kind of cosmetic skins, like other pets or like an armor, like the armored bears in that movie, The Golden Compass
Do yourself a favor and read the books. That was the worst movie I’ve ever seen in my life.
Right?
Having a bad day?
If you don’t hit anyone and do damage that is possible
“-You can’t deal the same amount of damage with your weapons like the other classes do because the pet also deals damage.”
Pets don’t share in the stat boost granted by foods, buffs and ascended gear. Inevitably the ranger will loose in that race.

Play pistols? They sound ok.
I don’t have your annoyance in this game, but I know it. Maybe there are tools that can replace sounds, like there are for textures.
I see frans you still there but you don’t answer the simple question.
Sorry, I didn’t ralize a question was asked, might have gotten swamped in all the posts.
With mmos allow players to SPAM stealth in fight like in gw2?.
Neverwinter allows it, even has permastealth
I expect other D&D based MMO’s to have in-combat stealth as well. Other people have pointed at yet other MMO’s, but I forgot them.
The fact about gw2 is that this game have some serious balance issues. Thief ability to SPAM stealth (especially in wvsw) is one of them, and need be fixed asap.
Handling stealth – on both sides – is a player thing, not a build thing. Most half decent players can give you a rough time landing a C&D and then getting a stealth attack in. I don’t think they’ll want to remove the player part, though balance should be such that both sides can handle it in a balance way.
you just count to 2 seconds and dodge if a thief tried to stealth using black powder and hs.
Whatever works for you.
i dont think a lot of people here have that much problem about countering a thief 1v1.
Then that is not a problem
it’s about how a thief can spam stealth that annoys us. it’s a broken mechanics and should not exist in this game.
It puts player against player rather then build against build. From a build against build, mechanic-counter-mechanic point of view that might be seen as ‘broken’.
It’s part of the game, espionage, just as it’s an important part of warfare in the world. I doubt it’s an offence you can report on.
This is not a real war and this game is not the real world, this is a game with rules and mechanics.
It’s a game, a war game and espionage is within the rules, it’s not against the rules anyway.
Money for transfer shouldn’t be a advantage.
That’s a point I agree with.
i was just happy i was able to download a screen recorder and posted the 1st video i made. i didnt expect to get immensely insulted. i’m not a techy savvy person and this is the only game i play on my laptop. i play other video games but on my ps3 and vita. i dont need to keybind using a playstation controller so i wouldnt have that much knowledge about keybinding a laptop.
I don’t know much about those consoles but I do have an XBox controller, it might work with guildwars, if that gives you familiar controls it might be worth it. Otherwise, a gamin mouse can really be worth it’s price, they’re just pleasant more to work with then a regular mouse – and a thousand times better then those horrible pads on laptops.
The thief don’t “disengage”, he remain in combat and you too, stealth regenerate a lot of initiative,
No, they don’t, you haven’t played your thief for a while it seems. When traited to they get 2 initiative on entering stealth. Another trait will give them 1 inititative 3 seconds into stealth, and then every 10 seconds.
and they have a lot of health regeneration and condition removal from it.
Oh dear, they’ve imrpved the 30/30/30/30/30 build to a 30/30/40/30/30 build. You can only pick three majors, you already had two for the initiative, now you want two more for condition removal and healing. Maybe you want the regen trait as well, and the blind trait.
You only can guess where they are or when they gonna strike, blowing your aoe damage cooldown in guessing positions. They haven’t CDs.
If you know how to move, they’ll be guessing when you’re turning. And don’t just blow AoE, use them to control their movement (nobody likes running around in circles inside AoE’s).
Still guessing, because a smart thief is not going to do the obvious thing.
Nah, they’re going to stab at your front anticipating that you’ll make a 180 at precisely the right time. Or, if you’re the moving kind, they’ll just stay put because eventually you’ll be back where you left them. Either that or you’ll dodge straight to where they are. Feint – counter-feint.
That is some good advice. I’m going to go watch Blood Sport with Van Damme. He was able to defend himself with his eyes closed. Maybe if I watch it a few more times I could gain the power needed !
Make sure to watch with your eyes closed or it won’t work.
You can do almost anything with P/D, buildwise, because it’s damage scales up both with conditions as with power – so if you want to try the playstyle you can use, integrate (some) of your current (power) gear.
Is for PvE? Wvw?
The standard is Dire, though Carrion will give more umph, you could experiment with Rabid for Precision and on-crit triggers but those aren’t our (conditions) department.
Usually 30 Shadow Arts and the standard traits, Cloaked, Embrace, Rejuvenation. Then your choice from Acrobatics, Trickery and Deadly Arts. A Power P/D might consider critical strikes, the adept pistol trait looks ok for it. In DA you spec for Poison, reducing your opponents healing is very strong in Wvw/Pvp. You may also want to add it’s weakness on poison trait, aside from being a decent debuff it is another cover condition to protect your bleeds when focussing on condition damage. Acrobatics for the usual goodies, might on dodge, ims in stealth, falling. Trickery usually for the on-steal goodies.
It’s part of the game, espionage, just as it’s an important part of warfare in the world. I doubt it’s an offence you can report on.

This title ….
I know xD
Ah, you changed it.
What kind of cosmetic skins, like other pets or like an armor, like the armored bears in that movie, The Golden Compass
There’s a pp thread that has just started
… Jumper’s idea of Shadow Arts trait focusing on going in and out of stealth rather than constantly staying in stealth was a pretty good suggestion imo. …
Link?
One could attach traitable boons or other rewards to Revealed, buff on entering traits and nerf stay in stealth traits.
The green/koda section of eotm looks a lot like shing ji island.
^this.
Koda architecture is very similar to Canthan, it seems unlikely they will also use it fro anything Cantha related. Chances are there will never be a Cantha in GW2.
Lol, restart your character when that happens. Stealthless builds can use Shadow Refuge, even when just to rez a downed player – it’s part of the job.
GW1 having no z-axis meant pathfinding was easy and binary, either you can walk there or you can’t, no jumping, no ledges, just walking.
Mobs don’t jump, there is no z-axis for them. If they can not path to you, they’ll regen.
They also didn’t have to deal with all the movement affecting abilities, no knockbacks, leaps, dodges or any of that jazz, just knockdown and snares.
They don’t dodge and simply suffer through any cc you throw at them.
Despite there being mechanics that favored tactical positioning, such as bows gaining range/damage at higher elevations archers never ever sought out high ground, they also never kited or actively tried any kind of maneuvering unless they were scripted to do so in a very specific area.
Ranged mobs most certainly would kite from melee, they also would move out of AoE. Just making mobs move out of AoE would make them look smarter.
I have never seen ranged AI ‘take’ corners intelligently, they always run straight at the corner like melee.
The majority of PvE monsters didn’t even have full skill bars until Nightfall and they only ever had well thought out builds in Eye of the North & GW Beyond.
True, but probably not because the average pug of new players wouldn’t have been able handle them, pugs would have been in trouble had they made the monsters like those in EotN or WiK right from the start.
Sure GW1 AI was great for GW1 but it wasn’t exactly ever a masterstroke of AI design.
GW1 AI is better then GW2 AI. At least make them them move out of AoE and pick their targets smarter. That would have more effect on build diversity then the Ferocity change/
Thief is the counter to zerkers, so bring more toughness and vitality and watch that 7k backstab transform to a 3-4k…
What counters a zerker thief abusing D/P?
The organ that takes up all that space between your ears.
Mhh, Ok. I tried that manually but I suppose not enough at the same time. I think the R.A.T. doesn’t do simultaneous keypresses :s
How do you do that jumping evade (like on 00:27)?
How much Precision / Critical Damage and buffs were involved in those numbers?
At longer ranges the skill coefficient for Long Range Shot is quite decent, at least for a ranged auto-attack.
BTW, GW1 rangers were in no better spot then GW2 rangers, at least for DPS. They did bring decent control (interrupts and cripple) to GvG – and a decent ability to split/solo.

Gain buffs, send players back to base, and stuff from killing enemy players
PC’s killed are going to drop gear?
Except now a days people want better graphics, which is a resource hog. …
AI scripts run on the server, client side graphics performance is irrelevant for it’s performance
Please explain with better detail. I want to comprehend your point, I’m not disagreeing.
1) The programs that define the AI run on the server.
2) The programs that display the fancy 3D graphics run on your PC
The fanciness of the graphics on your client has no impact on the AI programs running on the server.
So, to re-phrase my original question… who thought this was viable? at all?
I hope one Anet dev came here and said “I did”.
Why? Were you thinking about a new ‘slapper’ title?
Then it shouldn’t be possible to block an attack you can’t see coming.
Except the game would be going on the assumption that we KNOW an attack is coming when we blocked something. You don’t spam a block move or use it without knowing something is about to come your way.
Knowing that an attack is coming doesn’t make it any more realistic to be able to block an that unseen attack from behind you then it is to remain invisible while hitting someone’s sword.
… You don’t know if you’re dodging perfectly or not because you can’t see what the enemy is attempting to do most of the time ….
If you are talking about stealth/backstab, just moving around and changing direction makes it a lot more difficult to land a backstab. Just by kiting properly you are taking back control. By kiting properly the thief no longer knows that his attack will land on your back or that his efforts will be voided. You regain (some) control.
