I play on an US Server and live in Germany. I played many games before where things like that are totally normal or where you don’t have servers for every continent.

I really like it because of having no problems to find a group when you don’t work 9-5.

Far Shiverpeaks saw better days in pvp. They always were close to Vizunah in EU primetime, but when you look at the scores right now, something has happened. But I think it hasn’t much to do with russians.

After running around with supplies last night for 6 hours, thanks to JQ Commanders and all that followed. Was a really nice battle in our borderlands. Thanks to HoD that really tried hard to get us out of bay, hills, dawn and tried to steal that orb from spiritholme.

I really appreciated playing.

I still wonder how empty Mag is on a saturday between 2 and 6 pm. borderlands where almost empty.

I guess the wvw is already dead. The statement “nightcapping is fine” leads to many guilds leaving to servers with different time zones. The still open free transfers lead to many winning team joining people and to longer queues on the top servers. The hackers will destroy what’s left if those bans are applied not asap.

I really liked playing on desolation and i really liked wvw but the actual situation keeps me from even logging into the game.

There is no competition after midnight. I had that “competition” last night between 3 and 4. We took back 2 towers, 2 supply camps and desolation garrison with 10 ppl. And got totally stomped by a group of at least 30 ppl from arborstone, while another group of around 10 of them took the supply camps back. (the really funny part is, that it doesn’t require a bit of skill – i remember 3 catapults standing right beyond the wall, because they knew we couldn’t defend anyway – ever tried such stupid things over the day?)
That’s not competition. There should never be four times more enemies then defenders in the borderlands.
Even if you take back much of the map at prime time and upgrad, you will lose everything at night again and fall behind in points.
So, Arenanet said “How we’ve came to this conclusion is that no player’s time is more valuable than another.” – so why is the value of our fighting over the day absolutely worthless? All the upgrades, organisation and points are gone within 4 hours without being able to defend anything.

What kind of waiting times are you guys talking about? I never had more then an hour when I tried to get to one of the borderlands – but I didn’t play over that last weekend.

I’m really interested in your guild idea, kobra, but I would like to bring at least two friends from my actual guild and we are still working our ways to level.

It won’t work in the future. Why? Because of the players. At the moment a bunch of players leaving from servers to “winner” servers, so some servers will be really low populated without having any chances in wvw anymore. Some players addicted to wvw who actually play on the 2nd, 3rd or 4th ranking server will transfer or leave the game, new players on those server will use wvw for farmspots or ignore that kind of content > which will lead to lower player base.
So in the end you will have 1 or 2 full servers on every continent which are able to keep wvw going 24/7 for a while and a load of servers where borderlands will be a huge farmspot.
In the actual system (yeah, I know “24/7” is intended) most servers stop playing wvw because of being 100k points behind after a day.
And yes, it’s frustrating. You leave at 2 at night, have paid some keep upgrades, sieges on the walls, tons of equipment build up and 8 hours later everything is gone – without having a chance to fight for it. No, it’s even more frustrating, when you see that everything, even depots, is fully upgraded by your enemy in your borderlands and all that in 8 hours of gametime.
Nothing will fix that, it will break wvw, when it happens every night in a two week cycle, because it’s a pve gameplay, not a wvw or pvp.

Yeah and it’s not decided by which server has the best players/guilds but who can bring in the most people at night times. Great concept.

There are more people from VS on the FS borderlands then from the other two servers combined.
Transfering to VS now and leveling up to 80 there in wvw.

As long as orbs favor the winning faction wvw is worthless playing after losing the orbs late night

Last night we had a good sized group of about 65 people break through the outer and inner wall of a mostly upgraded keep without even a hint of real resistance.

I stopped reading after this. Your night capping of poorly defended keeps failed? Nice. I like to read that

I transfered to VS because I need that world completion achievment. The rest of my guild followed today.

Sometimes it’s wise not to play, if your cards suck.

Just get rid of the orbs and the bonus. Give the orb bonus to outnumbered server. And scale down points for conquering in the night times.

The weekend showed that Far Shiverpeaks is better then Vizunah Square when it comes to battles in the normal playing time. Both servers are great in wvw but VS still has that night fights after the weekend where they can totally change the score.
It was really funny fighting this weekend even when you are from Desolation. :/
But this night caps have to be fixed in some way. It’s impossible for normal or even hardcore wvw guilds to bring a fair fight to the maps between 0 and 10 o’clock.

No wonder that VS now has 3 orbs again..

I stopped buying arrow carts, catas and siege stuff. It’s always the same kitten. You build it, run to the next supply camp to get some supplies, while some …[insert word] take supplies from the base. When you return, the arrow cart is half down because someone started firing into the woods. If you tell them some of this basics, they answer by “i can do whatever i want” or anything else.

So, maybe this time I can go on a long weekend kicking some VS out of borderlands.

IF half their server Day time = your Night time..

then they have a Half empty server during your day time right?

then during that time it should be VERY easy for you to drive them completely our of the map and upgrade and get orbs.

are you doing that?

You obviously don’t understand how WvW works.

3 Servers:

100 players from VS, FS and RS/DS on three maps. At night 100 players from VS, 30-50 from FS and RS/DS.

The matches between these 4 servers are lost in the night, because you are not allowed to bring as many players as you wish into the game at daytime. And most people can’t change their real life and start joining into night games.

Every keep you take on the day, every upgrade is lost between 02:00 and 10:00. And both other servers are behind around 60k points, 3 orbs and a lot of upgraded keeps.

You can’t let gates and walls win matches for you.

You took +700 in the night and drop to +350 in the first hour of resistance from shiverpeaks and desolation. No one says you are bad, but that night game wins every match for you. You take everything by night, upgrade everything and get 60-80k points. Even if you day squads would be total idiots (they aren’t) it would be almost impossible for the other two servers to get back everything and kick you out of your home world.

And that makes wvw really idiotic at the moment. If arenanet doesn’t do anything against this night dominance the whole world vs. world thing is a dead field of play.

Again, this is not a 24/24 battle… is a “from 3am to 7am war”, so as you can see your magical persistent WvW does not exists even now.

And what is your excuse for the rest of the day ? Why can’t you capture your positions back ?

How do you think it’s possible to recap that much positions over the day when stats are equal?

What kind of wvw are you doing at night? Building rams in front of gates, killing a boss and go to bed with +700 points and an empty world conquered.

Why don’t you just go spvp? I could bet that I did more wvw without being level 80. Even as you ran through pve I was in wvw. Just maybe it’s me still baking.

How is this fair ? There are people who work late and want to play after. There are people who simply want to play during the night (I’m in this case).

Who can decide “after this hour, WvW is somehow blocked, see you tomorrow” ? That’s not the point of a persistent 24/24 battle.

It’s a war, and wars doesn’t stop at midnight.

Now, you have a lot of point to get back. That’s a lot of work, you should start as soon as possible instead of complaining.

No it’s not a war. It’s a game. And it’s impossible to win against servers who cap everything at night time. Even if we would be better the rest of they day it’s absolutely impossible to conquer all that back what was capped with minimum effort at night.

It would be fair enough to keep numbers even. I have wait times the whole day and have to wait to get into wvw. So where is the problem to just let as many vizunah guys into borderlands as are ppl from the opposing server?

Maybe it makes sense to change the invites. When only 10 from each other realm are in wvw then no more invites to wvw should be possible. That could be hard times.

What I don’t really get is how can everyone, who can’t play the day because of endless queue, can play at night and still get up early every day? :<

Guild Armorer does not work after getting the contract. And Letter of Commendation does not work.
