I dont understand that “omg DAOC was the best, bla bla” behaviour. DAoC had flaws, had problems, people cried out for things or that so much is wrong with that game. It’s the same as in every mmorpg. Your first experience is always the best and no one remembers the things that really sucked.
DAoC was a good game, especially in RvR, but it’s far away from being the best of all. There are many games with great ideas and even more which had even greater ideas and failed.
Remember the games you played and what you liked but that feeling won’t come back, it maybe was your first real mmorpg, with your first real RvR experience and it will always fill a shiny, great, awesome memory.
GW2 has huge potential and the wvw is nice after that latest patch and I had tons of fun the last days, like I had in DAoC, Warhammer, SWG, WoW, UO, browsergames, but I won’t say it’s the best, neither are the others

This 2v1 whining is so great. Where were you whiners last week? Maybe some of you BG should get back to wvw instead of doing forum wars.

Worst reputation in NA is SoR for me. They are the mos eisley spaceport of the servers.

Hey guys. I would like to know how it’s possible to report a player for harassment.
We have one guy in world vs. world who is wasting supplies over weeks in our borderlands and eternal battleground by building flame rams in our base, taking away golems and trying to sabotage us where he can.

How can we report him? It’s getting really annoying now.

Sure this change was needed somehow. It’s absolutely ridiculous to have guests on already full servers because of a level 11 world boss.
But I really hope this guaranteed chest is worth the effort. I farmed Orr really often since december and i got about 5 rares in about 3 months. That changed with the chest loot. But even with chest loot (i did Maw with all my 5 alts and the 3 dragons with my main char) I already got no exotics in the game. I had two exotic drops since november 2012. Maybe it’s just bad luck, but that really sucks and that’s why I did those dragons at all.
Maybe they could get up drop chances of rares and exotics for world events and keep guesting limited to not full servers.

Everyone called for an update?

These events have their own problems. In my opinion, the population caps on these maps need to be lowered because it’s pretty clear none of the servers seem capable of providing a quality experience when so many players are merging on a single event. I’d rather have a cool 10 – 20 man fight with an outdoor boss than the chaotic mess plaguing the game now.

I’m not suggesting a map only allow 20 players on it, but they need to add a larger window to these spawn timers to discourage camping and shut down nearby waypoints to these events whenever they begin, which will eliminate people quick-traveling in. That will cut down on the numbers participating in the battles a bit.

As far as guesting, I feel a few things need to happen here:

• 1) There should be separate overflow queues, one for players native to the server and one for guests. And the native player’s queue to enter a map should always have priority over the guest’s queue. Only when there are no native players waiting to enter their home server’s map should the queue for guests advance.

• 2) There should be a limit placed on how many guests can occupy a particular map at any given time, with the majority of the overall occupancy slots being reserved for native players. To allow a situation where most of the occupancy slots on a map can potentially be used by players who are not even native to that server is ridiculous.

• 3) Players should not be allowed to guest to a particular server unless they’re currently grouped with a player who is actually a native of the server in question. The intention of the guest feature is to allow friends on different servers to play together. It was not meant to be a tool to help players farm more easily. If you’re not on the server as a guest of a friend, you don’t need to be there. This also ensures that any one native can not invite more than 4 other “guests” to his home server.

Sure, that could be inconvenient, but the person who shouldn’t be inconvenienced is me when all I want to do is something as basic and understandable as playing on my home server. As a resident I should never lose a spot to a guest.

Maybe that’s harsh, but people are abusing the guesting feature. The intention was to join up with friends on different servers, not hop to other servers to take advantage of event timers, etc.

I greatly support this. Our server is already full and we don’t need twice our population by guesting.

And please make guesting possible between EU and NA.

As a thief player I can say the topic is not that far from truth. I play P/D atm – but tried D/D for a while in wvw.
There are few classes you should avoid because they counter you, but most of the other professions are easy to kill because of stealth in combination with lag/culling/performance in wvw.

The problem with fixing this issue is that thieves are squishy without stealth and the whole profession is balanced around the stealthing abilities so you can’t just take away stealth or change it without destroying the whole profession (the stealth nerf in pve is really bad and I paid with going down in boss fights a lot today)

I think it would be fair to cut down the stealth ability a bit but give something new to thieves which does not make them easy prey.

I’m on JQ and had outmanned buff on two borderlands (and less than 5 minutes queue for EB) yesterday. What exactly does that mean?

It means nothing at all.

Nice, I can’t change it at all. Every time I change it to something else I get that message, no message or a page error.

I’m in the queue for JQ borderlands for over 75 minutes now. Maybe it’s full, but I never had this since last fall after release.

So, you get more rares/exotics for a short dungeon run than for farming events in Orr for some hours…

Nice to know. I’m in Orr once a day for some hours doing temple events and had 2 exotic in 3 weeks and maybe a handful rares.

We are on US Jadequarry because of WvW since 10/12 and still have friends on the unofficial German roleplay server.

We won’t transfer to them, because you can’t do wvw 24/7 and they won’t go to US because they can’t roleplay there and have a guild on their server.

Why should I switch to a server where no one is online, when I’m awake?

That’s really bad news. I have some friends on the unofficial German roleplaying server while playing on US with guild and other friends.
Don’t know what we do now.

Point 6 would be my favorite one to be answered before we have to pay for server transfers. A lot of my friends play on EU server and our guild is on NA.

Finally. I’m on the same server since 4 month and it was really annoying getting queue in wuvwuv because of some guilds and their fanbase constantly coming and leaving.

But I still hope guesting works between EU and US. Hope someone of Anet will answer that.

Still can’t xfer to my friends server because it’s full all the time, but one of my other buddies managed to catch it at high for a few minutes and xferred, so I guess the game must be dying.

We have the same problem with our guild. 4 on one server, 3 can’t transfer.

What really bothers me is..

Will guesting work between EU and NA servers. Our guild is on Jadequarry (NA), but we have friends on Drakkar See (DE) and plan to do events and dungeons together.

The only difference to the beginning of GW is that in the first 10 1 day matchups and the first 3 matches over 1 week it was you beating the doors of FS and Deso and winning the matches after monday with 600+ points every night because of FS and Deso sleeping.

So it’s ok when french people win because of door beating, but it’s not ok, if Americans do that?

It won’t solve any problem if you cancel transfers from EU <> NA. The issues you have with night capping American guilds on EU T1 or T2 is the same issue any low populated server has with a large populated server. A server like Drakkar Lake can’t send more then 10 people into more then 1 borderland between 00:00 and maybe 11:00 and that’s where opposing servers with maybe 30 people get the points.
If you are on Elona Reach or Arborstone you would stomp a server like Drakkar Lake by your night shift while you are stomped by Desolation or Blacktide with their night shifts.
Your only choice is getting people from other timezones like Desolation and Blacktide do or organize your sleep times like Vizunah does, because the WuvWuv won’t stop at midnight and continue next afternoon.

We tried to enter Caudecus Manor today. We had two people from EU Server in our group and it’s impossible for us or them to enter. Either one of us always got a network error message.
I guess that’s working as intended?

Will guesting change this and will we be able to join dungeon groups with our friends playing not on a US server?

Please keep away with dungeon finder. I don’t want to sit in LA and use a tool that ports me to every dungeon in the world. This kind of thing has already killed at least one mmorpg.

You aren’t allowed to sell or advertise a game in germany or france if there isn’t a version of the game and a manual in german and french.
So Anet is forced to localize their game and spend buck to earn some more and since half of european buyers are french and german they do FR/DE servers. gamer community is quite large in these countries so you end with13 FR/DE in europe..its more than half of europe or us servers

No, you’re wrong. You are allowed to sell games in other languages in Germany, you are even allowed to show movies in original language. There is now law that says otherwise. The problem is that you, as a company, would be a total idiot if you don’t sell a localized version. Many Germans wouldn’t buy that game because they don’t speak English that well. Sure, everyone learns at least basics of foreign languages at school, but this is really basic knowledge. If you don’t keep on learning and talking another language you will forget most of it.

And English is the most important language in the western culture, it’s spoken in science and most countries schools teach it. But if you go back 70-80 years, the science language was German.

It would be nice if everyone on the planet would speak the same or understand it at last, but there will be always a native language.

Why remove the achievement? To be brutally honest: The clocktower is something me and many others ACHIEVED, so we earned the achievement. If you can’t beat it, then you shouldn’t have the achievement. Not every achievement shoul’d be out there for everybody, since you don’t achieve everything in life.

This is not life, this is a game. A game is fun. Meaning you don’t spend hours on it. This puzzle completely turns the GW2 philosophy upside down. Instead of you putting in a few hours and receiving the satisfaction of being able to still reach everything that the road runners can reach in 1 minute, now you must grind and pray to the 5 gods for your shiny title. This is WoW philosophy, not GW2.

In my life, I played football a long time ago. Football is game, a hobby and I did it for fun. I had to train, I had to be on the field on specific days for training and I wasn’t allowed to play if I missed the training.
Same with that puzzle. If it isn’t fun for you, then just don’t do it. If you want that 10 points, the boots and the achievment go and train until you get it.

Vizunah won by clever time management, not by having many overseas players.

So you want to force 13 ger/fr/esp servers to speak english just because some american players dont want to play on one of their 24 us servers and favor some pve vs gates action while the europeans sleep?

You are playing an international game with a 24/7 wvw map. The “international” language is English. So, the choice is accepting that fact or losing games at night.
We decided playing on an US server (as many others from EU), so why should people from brazil shouldn’t be allowed to play on portugese servers or people from mexico on spanish ones?
Sure, you can still talk German on your server but if you had some US guys or people from England why not try to talk to them and make them part of your community?
The top 3 NA and EU servers will be those with a 24/7 coverage of the map. Deal with it.

It won’t change in any way. Many people from JQ will leave, many will follow them and in the next matchup you have a new fotm server.
