However the effort for this as opposed to a dungeoun run…you use far more effort in fighting the dragon, thus it should be worth SEVERAL dungeoun runs worth of raw cash/gear.
True. Without better awards, people will abandon it as soon as a lot of people get their achievements. Evidence: Karka Queen – which is muuuuuch easier.
[DV] – megaboss community
You assume that people need to know what to do. until then , VOIP is much easier and much faster way to coordinate groups of people who just showed up and haven’t bothered to get any info on the event and who don’t read map chat. And there’s plenty of those people.
I’m not saying that everyone will use teamspeak or whatnot, but the more ppl actually do it, the better results will come out. Same for WvW, same for dunegons, VOIP is an advantage. Typing takes time and can get you killed. Simple as that.
[DV] – megaboss community
We have multiple tries and not everyone is active at the same time or when a tequatl boss event is going to be active. I may not know how many people match on a single map but I think we should be okay up to the 100.
I don’t like the idea of having the guild called TKS (Tequatl Killer Squad) as we’ll probably meet upon more challenging content. So a Tequatl Killer Squad wouldn’t match another challenging boss or war. xDD
Between I could ask my clan whether or not they have enough slots in their teamspeak. I hope so. xDD
Awesome, cheers!
And yeah, in that case Vabbi might be the best option.
Also, TY for the builds, Bremby!
[DV] – megaboss community
All the timers are right now is a “you don’t have enough people” or “you don’t have enough DPS” arbitrary failure.
We can’t control how many show up.
We can’t control if half the players that show up are uplevels in greens/blues.
We can’t control if half of the players have condition damage builds, and have their damage negated by stacking limits.
That right there! All of that is a nuisance, but one that could be dealt with if not for the bloody timer!
Lyssa takes ages without a proper coordination which in itself puts pressure on people to finish it asap / give their best.
A lot of people on my server reacted very negatively yesterday after about half of the Teq time has passed. They went all Trahearne saying “give up now, no way we can make it”, and a lot of people just stood by doing nothing the rest didn’t event try and wp & run.
Since we cannot control who is present at the event nor their gear, at least longer timer or no timer wouldn’t punish the players who are taking action + actually reading map chat + y’know putting in some effort.
Being punished for one’s own mistakes is fine, natural selection. Being punished just for being on the wrong server / surrounded by a mass not putting enough effort (who are, just by being there, maybe keeping more good players in the overflow) – now that’s just poor game mechanics.

Count me in too, I usually play in the evenings.
Do you guys have a voice chat? It would be very useful.
One issue though: wouldn’t all the guesting to one specific server actually cause overflows?
[DV] – megaboss community
When you check your inventory/salvage/open bags or talk to others in chat during a fight in a game then it’s not a very engaging fight. Or is it just me?
Yeah, I also salvaged during Shatterer yesterday. Never did that before, as it didn’t last long. But now the fight takes time without actually being challenging, so salvaging / TP is necessary to fight the boredom.
[DV] – megaboss community
Spot on OP! While I quite enjoyed the Teq attempt yesterday, it is very clear that it needs a determined, well coordinated and preferably well geared mass of people. It could be done, gz Blackgate, but when winning relies on so many people a lot of whom don’t even read the chat, it makes the skill of several (even say 30+) determined players worth nothing. Even if some people do learn, there’s always the issue of coordinating / teaching a lot of new players / whoever comes for the encounter.
Relying on a mass other random people doesn’t really work, as seen with the Scarlet invasions. A more controlled environment would be much appreciated for this content.
It takes a lot, and I’m not against challenging content, but this just means that not every server will be able to do it, or willing to do it after the achievements are done.
[DV] – megaboss community
It would be very cool to finally see some necessary work done on dungeons and to see LS (or Random Story so far) finally going back to the actual game story, important plot points and core character, if that is indeed Caithe. Lol, it almost sounds too good to be true.
Considering recent updates, I have very little faith left in Anet, but I guess that just means I won’t be as disappointed maybe even actually happy when the release it. :p
As long as TA “fix” isn’t just lazy health pool increase a’la world bosses (thus turning it into another boring HotW), it should be ok hopefully.
Then we’ll have to take care of that while DE 2.0 gets all the credit.
True, it’s be so nice to finally get some recognition in this game. I just hope the whole Sylvari thing doesn’t bring back Trahearne, cause that would take me on the brink of rage-quitting. :p
[DV] – megaboss community
I was actually hoping for a more exciting Shatterer. Y’know, not just standing left, pressing 1. But it was same old, just took longer. -_-’ Harder is good, more tedious isn’t.
Increased health pools are just lame, look at HotW.
[DV] – megaboss community
I don’t mind harder fights, but sadly this will lead to reduced number of people actually doing those events.
Tequatl is really enjoyable, but after everyone gets the achievements, I don’t think as many people will bother with it (at least not on my server). And a lot of ppl are needed.
[DV] – megaboss community
True, you get better rewards from killing world bosses which are only lieutenants of Elder Dragons, not an ED itself. -_-’
And emo Trahearne, an incapable commander, is wielding an exotic.

I’ve never played with nastier people in my life than the ones doing 5 man dungeons and they were just screaming at some poor guy who didn’t tank or heal the way they expected him to. Seven years on WoW and only a few figured out that the LEADER’s responsibility is to teach the others how to get through. Kind of like Commanders. Get it Commanders just because you pay 100g for a tag doesn’t mean you know what your doing. They should have to take a test to get those things. You give me hero’s I’ll do it. Not a problem.
You should give it another go. Sure I ran into some bad dungeon PUGs, but I’d say 95% of the time it’s good fun. Join a guild, it’s great for getting a dungeon group that will not rage and kick.
And while commander tag doesn’t mean commander skill is sort of true in WvW, a lot of commander badges were quite helpful in PvE – guild missions, champ runs, Scarlet invasions etc. At least on my server. So hopefully the same will be true for Tequatl.

Hello!
You’d be welcome to join us in Unplug[DC] on Ruins of Surmia.
Atm we’re recruiting friendly, active people for dungeons, exploration, guild missions and WvW raids. We offer organised events twice a week, usually Thursdays and Sundays, plus a guild lottery. We’re not exclusively UK based, but quite a mix of Europeans, mostly active in the afternoons/evenings and on weekends.
We’re using teamspeak3 for events and you can also join our forum: http://unplug.enjin.com/
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact either myself, Classicalz (Robwars.9386), Jayla Startscream (Noyala.1496) or Ralf (Raketenralf.5146).
:)
[DV] – megaboss community
We also need more headbanging.

Are all bosses being changed? if so, why only the achivements for Tequatl?
[DV] – megaboss community
Go Tequatl, go! :’)
[DV] – megaboss community
Allosauridae head? :P
Nice work though. I do wish however, as has been repeated on the forums, that they incorporate more of Kekai Kotaku’s art.
Can we haz this Bubbles champ nao!?

<Tequatl appears>
“Oh no Tequatl is here!”
“Quick man the cannons!”<Aetherblades appear>
“Screw Tequatl, let’s farm shinies!”
Quickly, target champions!
[DV] – megaboss community
What will REALLY happen, considering the recipe for the Living Story updates so far, players will rush in to fight Tequatl, he will roar and proceed to reveal himself in all his draconic majesty…. but then—- Aetherblades skyship will appear crashing the dragon-slaying fest and Scarlet will do her maniacal laugh: “No more dragons for you! Mwahaha!”
Feeling ignored, Tequatl the Sunless will retreat and write an out-of-game blog post saying that he has shown us all the skills he needed to show.

Maybe interacting with a book unlock a tab that contains the story of scarlet or etc. Im no game developer, im just brainstorming ideas on where i seen text and illustration before.
That’s quite a good idea. It doesn’t fully solve lore issues, but it could be a way around the issues with designing books that BobbyStein mentioned.
Also, great image for the Living Story tab.
[DV] – megaboss community
Bumping because of the discussion in this thread. It’s a great suggestion that could work really well as a Living Story recap mechanism, as well as to potentially introduce other lore in form of books etc.
Anything is better than getting lore and stories outside the game.
it’s a good suggestion, I like it. Remembering the latest post from Anet about this I’m quite pessimistic about them evolving the system. I feel no love for the lore-lovers in this game since there is not much to collect in this department. Not even legendaries have a legend so to speak of. (I’m sorry about this pessimism, I’m quite frustrated at the moment because of this)
Very good point concerning Legendaries. This is also an issue with the new Ascended Weapons. I was very disappointed that they didn’t give us any story nor any explanation about them. There was no quest or anything, just suddenly(!), these very rare, extremely valuable materials are all over the world.
Tyrian population: Why should we craft ascendeds? Are we going on some epic quest? Will the gates to the Crystal Desert open? Can we go through Ascension like in GW1? Are the Gods themselves giving us materials/means to fight the dragons? Have any of the Orders found something about ascended items that will make them better weapon to fight the dragons? Did our excessive Mists travel (Fractals) cause these materials to become more common?
Anet: Naaah, just craft them cause exotics aren’t the best gear anymore.
Tyrian population: …

Unplug [DC] would be happy to have you in our community! We’re doing dungeon runs, PvE exploration, WvW runs and occasional sPvP with guild rewards (we just got our own pvp Arena). We’ve got both casual and steady bunch of everyday players.
We can offer own TeamSpeak3 channel for missions and dungeons, and we usually organise 2 guild events per week, as well as a guild lottery.
[DV] – megaboss community
However, expect it to still be expensive. I don’t expect Dusk to fall to 50g, for example. Precursor crafting will cause the mats to make it to rise as well so we can see the price fall to a reasonable few hundred G or so.
I don’t expect it bellow 100. Anything up to say 300-400g is sort of reasonable. But yeah, it would be a bit concernning what would happen to the T6 market, as suddenly many more people will demand T6 mats…
[DV] – megaboss community
Those heralds could even mention our personal Top 2-5 events we did already in that zone (for the gazillions time). And thus personalize our game experience.
ie. “Well-met, arent you the hero who did / saved /killed…” <Top1 event name> “…and also was responsible for…” <Top2 event name>
This. Not to be egoistic here or anything ( :p ), but having a little recognition for everything player characters have done in the GW2 timeline would mean a lot. While the end of our “Personal” Story is actually all about Trahearne and Zhaitan was officially defeated thanks to Destiny’s Edge and the Pact, our characters played a significant role. We also helped Kiel when the Karka invaded, we defeated the Molten Alliance with Rox & Braham and we momentarily stopped Scarlet. Having just a couple of NPCs noticing that we’re the Heroes of Tyria, would really help in feeling like we’re a part of a story and it would provide a sense of history.
That said, I really appreciated Scarlet’s gift.
[DV] – megaboss community
Dusk requires insane 850g now. I was sort of 1/3 on the way for Twilight, but now it’ll take much more gold farming. While prices continue to skyrocket… -_-’ My issue isn’t high price – albeit unnecessary it can be farmed, but keeping up with the price increase is rather difficult.
So I really hope we get a method of getting a precursor through effort, not dumb luck or TP barons.

Sieran and Tybalt were some of the best developed characters in this game and they’ve killed them both.
Yet it did make a good story and it gave more motivation to our characters. We need more of that with in the Living World business. I feel that there isn’t much motivation for us to get involved any more. Going through a Hero’s Journey, which would require a bit of a darker and more serious tone, would be a great help in appreciating the story / being a apart of it.
[DV] – megaboss community
^^was thinking along the same lines. It always seemed to me that Ebonhawke and surrounding area threatened a bit more.
I wish they would introduce more Orders camps on the Fields of Ruin map. Now that Zhaitan is gone, it would be the logical place to gather for a strike against a second known ED. Obviously the branded threat did not stop by simply defeating the other dragon, and since Ebonhawke and Charr lands and in immediate danger (would a wall stop a flying dragon?), it would be in interest of both groups to move against the dragon / put in more resources to secure the area further.
[DV] – megaboss community
Kralkatorrik is beyond the gate. Or supposedly is/was. And Jennah did look directly into Kralkatorrik’s mind…
Out of ignorance/forgetfulness and since I couldn’t find it on wiki, when and how did she take a look into dragon’s mind?
[DV] – megaboss community
OP’s letter… <3
…would actually make Trahearne interesting and strip him of the title of one of the lamest characters ever.
So, Trahearne, first you stole my personal story and now you evil?
Wouldn’t you like the opportunity to fight him for stealing our glory from us?! :p
[DV] – megaboss community
Do you remember when the game is started and the areas had a lot of player? I want it back!

Yeah, something has to be done about mid-lvl maps. It’s a real chore now getting the 100% map completion – it gets very boring roaming around maps if there are only 2 people present in maps like Snowden Drifts or Timberline Falls. Scarlet’s invasions helped a bit as it dragged people to maps nobody usually goes to. But sadly, majority left as soon as the invasion was complete.
Also, this problem is expressed less in Kryta, but if you’re another rase, especially a Charr, your home maps won’t be very helpful in leveling a toon, at least on my server.
Eventually, they will have to merge servers when the population starts to drop, but that doesn’t address this particular issue if most people are doing temples or WvW. So yeah, ‘underflow’ seems quite intriguing.

In the meantime, we have acquired Unplug’s very own Guild PvP Arena, introduced a weekly guild lottery and are hosting events twice a week.

Would have been nice if Anet gave us a quest to build ascended stuff, i.e. tie that to the story somehow instead of just suddenly!-there are materials.

It seems like there’s some misunderstanding regarding the purpose of the short stories that we publish on the Web site. They are not meant to “write outside the game” such that the game is unplayable without them, nor are they meant to provide vital information to the in-game story for a particular Living World release.
Not meant to? Perhaps. But it’s exactly the situation atm, from player’s perspective. Since you failed to provide us with information on Scarlet in-game except a few sentences or present her as a fully fleshed character, that short story was our only source to find out who this crazy plant was and why on Earth (on Tyria?) would she be after the queen.
We certainly don’t find these stories “stressful” (seriously?). Rather, I find the lack of such stories in-game to lead to confusion a la “who is this character and why should I care”. It’s poor presentation. It’s not that there shouldn’t be additional stories. You should flesh out your characters in-game, otherwise I don’t really see their point, in-game.
This could have been done very easily through NPC’s, especially Emissary Vorpp. He was conducting an investigation on Scarlet, but that investigation did’t give us any information. It was a great opportunity for storytelling in-game!
The in-game plot, what little there seems to be, is stretched so thin that we, the players, are forgetting the ‘tidbits’. Your ‘pacing’ is far too slow. You may eventually give us some answers but only after we have forgotten the questions. Where does a player have to go to understand what is happening in this game? Because the game itself isn’t providing any answers whatsoever.
Indeed.
Slow pacing does not mean random party crasher 2D characters who are pretty much only interesting because 1) it was announced they’re our personal nemesis and 2) because of an unfinished story in a blog post.
I also agree that having lore-dump NPCs is rarely effective, and often annoying.
Yeah, it’s still beats an out-of-game short story.
[DV] – megaboss community
More events in home cities would be very welcome. I understand there are issues for low lvl players, but it could be a weekly event or so. We should really get out of LA and get stuff to do in other cities.
[DV] – megaboss community
Should have been done from the start, but now that so many people spent so much gold on dyes, it’d be a crime.
[DV] – megaboss community
We also don’t know who ruled before Queen Jennah. There is no Royal Mausoleum or Royal Graveyard in the game. Monarchs are usually replaced by their heirs when they die.
Yeah, I was kind of hoping this whole LS arc might provide us with more lore in that regard. We actually know little about the Divinity’s Reach history and politics (except like 1 minister).

Pretty much every time I’ve guested on Desolation there was the Frostgorge run. It gets so fast though that sometimes you don’t hit the champ in time and thus don’t get any loot. .p
We also run it on Ruins of Surmia in the evenings, ca 9pm, just follow commander’s badge.

I find myself playing the living story despite not wanting to.
I’d much rather work on other areas of the game, but because living story is time constrained, I feel I have to play it if I want the time-limited rewards.
And that kind of sucks.

I should really use this SAB LS break to do my do my map exploration…
