I don’t want to know HP/s, what i’d rather know is effective healing/overheal/wasted healing.

That’s why I added the Adjustible golem that spawns at 1HP. So you can see when you cap out on [5k|10k|20k] health targets.

The experimental armor can be altered to your heart’s contend. It will not be used in any further steps of the legendary armor.

The armor you will eventually get from the 2nd collection however IS the Precursor and you should not fiddle with it.

I got a few more ideas:

  • A “bottomless hole”: A golem that can be infinitely healed as well as a golem of set health that is spawed with 1 HP
  • A golem with an adjustible Defiance Bar
  • An option to make the training golem indestructible (like the dummy in HotM) so you can infinitely rotate on it.
  • An option to apply food and utility to yourself for the duration of the Training for free.

The current PvP System would be a start but would be pretty lackluster in the long run since many stat combinations are missing as well as all HoT interrupt sigils. But I really like the idea.

Storing keys in MatStorage would be super counter productive. Since you need to have them on you.

Despite that: YES please. I imagine an Implementation similar to the wallet. Since (most) keys have no other purpose other than unlocking a variety of chests it would solve a lot of issues:

  • Twinking keys to the right char.
  • inventory space
  • the right key for the right chest
  • a click function (like most currencies) that tells you where a particular key is used
  • better overview over key quantities
  • sorting and filtering

Permanent upgrade extractor

We need permanent upgrade extractor for runes and sigils that’re difficult to obtain. At the moment price of one upgrade extractor on gem store is 250gem which is roughly 63GOLD!!. WAY TOO MUCH for an item that can only be used once. But I think everyone will agree to pay 2k gem for permanent extractor.

At the moment I’m nearly done with buying 6 Leadership rune which costs either 100 ‘’Crystalline ore’’ or 75 ‘’Proof of Heroics’’. In the future, when another update forces us to change our builds I would hate to destroy those runes since it costs so much currency to purchase.

What’re your thoughts on this idea fellow raiders?

I’d also love this. It let’s you experiment with different runes. infusions, stats, sigils.
Also the “But then they’d cut their profit on these consumables”-argument doesn’t count because there already is an INFINITE REPAIR CANISTER of all things.
Also it would solve the last problem of Legendary armor.

I died from having no stun break.. I’m not sure what happened. I got launched by boss or something and I was stunned literally for like 10s. The tile under me blinked for a couple secs then vanished, I was still stunned but was like wow I’m lucky cos I was midway between two tiles and I thot I could make it.. maybe.

But no, that stun is way too long. I feel kittened for playing a class like warrior that doesn’t have easy access to stun break except for utility, I like how almost every other class has a stun break on their wep skills or something except for warr. Like holy kitten was that an excessively long stun. Either trim it down or help fix our class lol I mean the solid tiles were kinda an unnecessary change tbh it wasn’t that hard to see the tiles blinking even when u were focused on dps’ing and plus the aesthetics took a dive too imo, but that melee knockback is like way hard to anticipate and its not as forgiving either as his other attacks. So pls do something abt this cos it’s embarrassing that any1 should die over this lol

Get me the name of ONE weapon skill that breaks stun! Because I can’t find one for the life of me, at least not on “almost any other class”.
Letalone how many warrior stances break stun….

Once you have the recipe discovered you can look at the tooltip for all required data when you mouseover the icon on the top.

If you want to see what you get beforehand usually the wiki is a good place to look into. Use one of the crafting components as your searh criteria.

Also note that you can open the wiki search from ingame by typing “/wiki <Search term>” in the chat line. The search term can also be an item link, created with SHIFT+left click on the desired item

[Request] Skills that require a target

Hi there.

I just wanted to point out something not related to the recent patch.

ANet has started implementing a mechanic that prevents you from accidentally using skills that require a target e.g. Flame Burst on staff Ele or the blast gyro tag on scrapper (just to name 2)

Now many skills that have a similar nature don’t have this attached yet and I wanted to ask if it’s possible to “fix that” and if not why.

Such skills include:

  • almost every offensive signet
  • “On my Mark!”
  • Utility Goggles toolbelt
  • Technobabble

I’ve heard reports that you can directly attack the wurm.

You can definitely attack the wurm (ranged, if nothing else, from the lower level). If there are enough players up top, then others should probably do so.

Fact is many players want to slow this fight as much as they can because you can easily scale into Champions among the worms up top. Even if players would attack Vermingorous not only do they miss out on the bags themselves but also limit the time window for Champions to spawn for the entire group.

Except bags are given so freely, and in greater quantities, in other parts of the game. I don’t understand why they’d try to slow this particular fight.

True. But when people do this encounter for say their daylies they might as well grab the bags no? And by “slowing” I meant “not speed up”

First off:
Thank you ArenaNet for this change. The new opaque platform tiles work really well and help the overview over the fight. It solves both the problem of invisible AoE circles as well as the brightness of the reactor core.

One little issue remains though: While the AoE Indicator of the singular Star Smash is acurate the indicators on the platform-wide Cosmic Barrage are not. The actual impact Radius is much larger than what the indicators show.

Also the impact Animation of both of these attacks is just a little bit off from the damage-timing making effective dodging difficult

I know this sounds extremely picky but I want to mention this while this change is fresh so this can maybe get done in a near hotfix.

You can party with someone, and set party GUI to minimal. That’s the closest you’ll get.

Your own Healthbar is excluded from the Group UI. Only way to make this work would be a squad.

Returning player with a very basic question

Usually you get a prompt to enter the instance once you join the group, but only if you are on the map that the entrance portal is on.
Also at least one of the group members has to be in the instance.
If you miss or close the prompt you can call it back by using a Waypoint that causes a loading screen (usually one in a moderate distance) or Walking into the Entrance Portal itself.
Also Every Dungeon entrance has a WP right next to it, but it is often Contested because of Events rolling through the area.

Firearms for Juggernaught Trait
Alchemy for HGH Trait
Does quite some damage at moderate range; perma Stability and Nice might stacks.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

From what you describe and from my personal expierience you may want to stick to longbow ranger or pistol thief. Both have long range, ranger having the longest range in the game, and can pile up a lot of damage in a few seconds. Thief tends to more spike on single targets, while ranger can put a more equal pressure on an area. Try getting your hands on equipment with Power, Precision and Ferocity.

Other than that I recommend playing at least one class to 80 without excessive boosting. A tome here and there is ok, but no more than 10 levels at once. Playing like this will teach you a lot about game mechanics and may help you find yourself into the game. On the other hand it IS an action oriented game; second guessing is part of the flavor.

If you need further detail on game mechanics I recommend checking out the wiki or posting in the forum again. Don’t be afraid to ask – questions are there to be answered.

How’d you get gw2 to run on a gameboy color?

I get the joke but…
He can play on whatever settings he likes. If you play PvP you need every frame you can get your hands on. And you can’t say GW2 is the most performant piece of Software, even on some high end PCs.

Sadly no. Unlike in Guild Wars 1 where you were able to customize your UI to your heart’s content, like place your health bar in the middle of the screen if you so desired, that is not possible in GW2.

Your health is shown in percentage and numeric in the red sphere in the middle of the UI on the bottom of the screen.

Go into swamp, play with the champion drake. It has a base 500 bar + the base regeneration(30 I think) that you can find on the wiki. If you need to calculate more you can get a friend or 2 to do swamp up to bloom. At t4 his bar is 1k and he will always go into a breakbar after his first leap.

Opening a fractal with a few dozen enemies just to train CC-rotation isn’t exactly what I call convenient. Yes it’s a way, but come on: the Training Golem already has a bar!!! It’s as simple as unlocking it to get us started.

Too bad there’s no convenient way to set up an enemy with a reasonably strong breakbar in game.
Much like many healers wish for a bottomless-hole-golem to train Heal-rotations on.

Not knowing what a break-bar is or does is like having a can but not knowing what a can-opener is. It’s essential and in many cases your survival depends on it.

I wonder if the Dominator going down faster has anything to do with the increased damage when chillled. I know its description doesn’t say it shares that trait with lesser “new” Destroyers, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it did anyway.

People kill Dominator with FA Eles as with Chill Necros. While your idea is valid I don’t think that’s the only problem.

Hey there.

First off I realy enjoy my time in Ember Bay. I’ve got myself a Ticket for Lava-Lobby and when I have nothing to do I hop off and do some events.

The issue is the scale of the events is far from evened out. Some of these Champions have an insane amount of health and take several minutes to take down, even for groups of optimal scaling; while others die in seconds even when Soloed.
Can we give this poor Molten Dominator a little more health so he has at least a chance against a single player? His fight poses absolutely no threat at the moment. I feel bad for this guy.
On the same note can we bring the Armor of the Champion Jade Construct down by just a touch? I know that it is meant to be resilient to physical assailance but the same 5 man group that murders the Dominator in Seconds struggles with the timer on the Construct.

That would be cool. :-)

I would say Dragonhunter is your best option for WvW. His huge supply of Hard Control effects can lock down entire zergs in a couple of seconds while also providing high spike AoE damage over long distances.

For Fractals Chronos are highly sought after, because their boonshare capabilities coupled with their unique buff “Alacrity” can increase the Damage output of a group by over 50% easily.

There is a Graphical glitch you can provoke by using the Backwards Dodgeroll utility skill from Shiro and swapping your weapon set on the same frame. It causes the grey mist Animation to infinitely loop on your character.
It causes absolutely no harm and proviedes no benefit other than this unique effect. It gets extra hilarious if you have a way of putting on a costume because some costumes have effects on them that mess with the grey mist texture causing even more graphical confusion.
He glitch ends when you use the Dodgeroll skill again.

Btw if you are 100% sure abt it then that means someone should update the wiki entry abt this, no mention of this or drops from salvaging it either. I think it’s under ‘Spirit vale weapons’ it’s missing this info for some reason haha

It IS in the wiki although under “Acquisition” of Magnetite shards. I’ll look into it on the page you mentioned when I get around to it.

Also I can assure you that this is true as I have Salvaged a Sparking Vanquisher myself.

How's ele doin - returning player

Ele is in kind of an awkward spot right now.
Its DPS remains the highest in the game, yet has taken more of less of a hit since some balance changes. The reaction in the forums was as you would expect from a nerf, but in the end it was not too bad.
The thing is: its supportive heal capabilities have also been cut, making it very squishy, especially if you’re into HoT content. Unless you have some sort of backup in form of a player that heals you you will have a rather bad time in PvE.

In Raids however, because such “Backup” is actually supplied in the group comp, Ele is an amazing class to play and is highly sought after because of its insane DPS.
Reply to Your edit: Yes, scholar zerker still has the highest DPS in the game

In PvP…. well…. If you’re here to kill people you’re kitten out of luck. Because the currtent Meta consists of classes that are very resilient to damage (like Necro, Guard, Ranger….) despite having high and, in many cases, unavoidable damage. You will need to run a heavy bunker/healer build just to survive longer than 3 seconds which will cut your damage almost entirely.

So… that’s what we’ve been dealing with the last few months. Pray for the next Balance patch to reveal a gem.

What you need heavily depends on what you want to do.

First you should familiarize yourself with the updated Trait- and Skill System. It has changed a lot over the last 2 years.

After that you can pretty much do whatever you want. At some point you should upgrade your accessories at least to exotic which is craftable, or ascended if you have the laurels for that.

1 goes against what conjures are meant to be: Supportive abilities with which the Ele can lend its power to other players of his group. Plus 30s CD on usual conjures is stupid because conjured weapons already last a full minute.
The only thing I’d consider is lowering the cast time on FGS (elite) because it’s so long it’s almost a DPS loss to use it.

2 Arcane skills have a property that many overlook: they always crit, no matter how much or less percision you have or if you have weakness or not. They can be insanely devastating against squishy and fast moving targets, because also none of them (except the heal skill) have any cast time. They can be used in any sticky situation you can imagine.

From among the colors I posess Robin, Midday, Winter Frost, Winter Breeze and Sea Frost seem the closest to the color scheme of the Spirit Raven.
I always like to pair light colors with darker ones so I like to go with a shadow- or midnight-dye to give a nice contrast. Midnight Olive and Midnight Gold come to mind considering Nevermore is made of dark wood.

Destruction’s Maw Issue

Kinda sad that creature spawns are getting out of hand in a lot of the new maps. The Mursaat Fortress in Ember Bay and the White Mantle Colloseum in BF had/have gigantic packs of 8+ Veterans spawning, now the Destruction’s Maw caldera is disabled.

On the one hand I like the fact that these areas feel dangerous and deadly. I enjoyed myself going up and down the Mursaat Fortress with a 20 man zerg murdering jade collosi, yet on the other hand when going in there solo you get obliterated, because you can’t even count how many opponents you have.

If you want to complain about unfair mechanics, we should also get rid of stealth, stability and every sort of immortality-buff. Would make the game a lot easier, for certain classes and would butcher a few other classes completely. Every class has its own super-power. Some are visible on first view, others take you hours of gameplay to realize.

In your channel, which I did not subscribe, I noticed you play various classes. necromancer, mesmer, ranger and revenant. No thief, no engineer and no guardian. Try out the engineer yourself. Try to be as good with it as with your other classes. And if you still think, the gyro is OP. We can ask the devs to nerf it.

But complaining about a class you do not play, for a skill you do not understand, because you’ve got a bleeding nose in pvp is no base of a discussion. Know your enemies, learn how they play and you can beat us even with that OP gyro ^^.

Good point. I have made a Rev, a ranger, a necro and a Warrior, just so I can see all of their skills for myself and to play with them (and to have space for all crafting disciplines ;-) ) . And everytime i did my play against them improved or at least it was a revelation like: “oh THAT’s whats making it so powerful….”. I actually need to do that for the DH as well… but we’ll see.

I have mixed feelings about this encounter. I personally find the boss to be very easy as the platforms are so slow to disappear. However, yesterday I had same 3 members of my squad wipe before the boss even hit 40% twice. We even tried resing them and they died like 20 secs after being brought back. Then the ele would die from reflect damage and the chip damage from being targeted repeatedly by the lazer. I died to some random knock back on the last 5%. I’m still kicking myself for not having a stun breaker.

I want a breakbar to make the encounter a bit more engaging. At the same time I’m afraid of having the encounter turn into bloom 3.0 and having even more terrible pugs.

True. I mean: the rework on Cliffside shows that they can make tight Bar timers. The Archdiviner can only be effectively broken by a Poison thief or an expierienced warrior (rev needs future sight to time it right) yet it rewards the group if they coordinate the damage in this extra burn phase.
Thauma is just a pile of HP right now, everyone sits in his corner of the platform, wails away with attacks that are reflected half of the time and prays not to get nuked into oblivion by the aoe barrage.
It feels so dull and could be so much more.

At what scale do people sit around corners for that? We usually have whoever has aggro run around while everyone else melee. Times where the whole place turns into a doughnut and you are forced to use range does happen more often than I would like though.

He term “corner” is more rethorical than anything else. What I mean is that all group support falls apart immediately on this boss because the closer you are the higher the risk for both. It removes all cooperative elements of the game and everyone is on his own, which basically goes against all paradigms of he game, and especially of fractals.

A good opposing example is the KC burn phase where one man pushes the orb around and the others already stack up and precast buff everything through the ceiling, to then unlaod every point or damage into this pile of animated rubble they can possibly squeeze out of their class. It feels so satitfying yet would not be possible without a group. I want to see something like this in Thaumanova. A tool or mechanic to work with.

I have finally completed my 1st collection for leg armor and I got an “Chest of Experimental Armor”. I would like to know, is that the precursor for the Leg armor or it’s just a random set that you get as a reward. Can I choose Heavy armor from this set even though I will do Light armor for my Legendary?

The “Chest of Experimental armor” contains a set of 6 ascended armorpieces of the weight of your choice (Heavy, Medium or Light). You can transmute, mix and match this armor to your hearts content since you will recieve the “real” Precursor armor from the second collection once it fully releases.

So now the Necro is not the be-all end-all solution to fractals anymore.
I appreciate some nice “meta-neighbors”.

any time you have no necro in the party, picking engi (or anything but a druid/healbot ele) over necro will make you have a harder time. any time you have a necro, you might as well stack more for more epidemics.

engi is a good choice when you can guarantee you and your group won’t screw up, unfortunately. engis mastery over pug fractals has been over since hot launched.

Well… granted: Necro is still “easy mode”. But my guildies are actually thinking about a way to farm 90 over 40.
The removed scaling just makes it so that say an Ele doesn’t completely weigh down the entire group beyond Scale 70.

Cuz it would be far more easier to get it from fractals….just compare the backpiece from pvp with the one from fractals…..fractal is far more easier to get. Anyway, they’ve said it’s not gonna happen. Fractals already got it’s share" a legendary backpiece". If they will introduce a fractal armor, it’s not gonna be legendary.

So you don’t even know what possibly will be required to get a set of fractal armor but already tell us that it will be easy. Right, now this is an argument.
Also, they never said that it will not happen, they just said that fractal armor is not in their todo list right now.

Very true. The difficulty of a legendary collection is only determined by the collection itself. And by all means: MAKE IT LOOK IMPOSSIBLE.
Of course looking at the pure activity you do,fractals ARE easier than raids. But to get the current legy armor you can do the collection by just playing a lot of raids and do some things in a cleared instance. Because the raid in itself is already difficult.
For fractals to keep up to that level of course it’s not enough to have the player kill Jade maw 100 times. One would have to do challenge modes in a similar way to the backpack.

Do it on a timer!
Do it without damaging conditions!
Do it without physical damage!
Do it with half of your max HP!
You name it! Pose me a challenge. I want to EARN this armor; not have it gifted to me.

Bear in mind that Condition builds remain almost equally strong as before this patch. (I tried)
What ANet did was upping the viability of all other builds outside of condi. So now the Necro is not the be-all end-all solution to fractals anymore.
I appreciate some nice “meta-neighbors”.

Ahah i feel exactly the same! Wrote it all down in my own topics.. great job just great, almost forgotten my sadness fron Trahearanes death and lack of any funeral (of a person known by bassicaly every npc ingame..)

Why is it a “walking spoiler”? To an “untrained eye” it looks like a blue colored wyvern and the name doesn’t tell anything unless you’ve played the story. It’s not like it’s named “Glint’s Legacy”.
I would really like a Mini Aurene. The designers and artists did so great on her, when I first saw her I had a heavy urge to cuddle it.

Seems to me they were shipwrecked and stranded there for quite a long time. One of them even says “We’ve been here for so long..”.

Something must be affecting their minds though since they all seem to act really weird. Or maybe that’s just what carnies are like.

I also like the idea of their minds being messed up. Primordus obviously absorbed the two dead dragons, both highly manipulative of minds, them being dead or alive.

Also bear in mind that our character has a slight bloodstone madness infection. Things might not look the way they are supposed to be…

Hidden Color Channels on Equipment

I’ve recently noticed quite a few Equipment skins that have one or more Color channels that affect invisible parts of the skin.
Many Shoe and Boot skins have this problem, where I suspect the shoe sole to catch that, but also e.g. the light head skin Leystone Cowl has two invisible channels.

It feels like wasted potential or wasted resources.
Because the Game has to load channels the aren’t visible in the end. That doesn’t seem like it would do much, but for every occasion of a highly populated area where 50+ playermodels and all of their armor and color has to be loaded it adds up.

Yet on the other hand many of those skins would look amazing if you could actually use all of their channels.

My Suggestion is to either remove the excess channels for performance, or change the skins to make the extra channels visible.

Toss Elixir U is bugged.

HGH is known to exclude some Elixirs form its effect since launch, especially Toolbelts and Automatic Trait-Elixirs.

They said in the Fractal CDI thread ages ago that they dont have the resources to dedicate to an armor for fractals. Seeing that legendary armor is taking almost 2 years of development to come out, I would have to assume thats true.

Hm… figures.
Yet when legendary armor is released those resources will be freed from there. If it takes 2 years from then on out, I’m willing to wait.
I get that such suggestions are demanding and take a lot of effort to fulfill the expectations of the playerbase. Whenever I support or propose one here I never think of “right now” but rather “Hey, that would be cool… maybe someday”
